I would like to see Universes Beyond: The Simpsons
Since this game is sweetbabyed as fuck UNIVERSES BEYOND x JEFFREY EPSTEIN when? One of sweet baby executives only weeks prior to being hired to ruin this game was a BLACKED.COM producer.
this kid got mindraped by social media>>94162495
>>94162420The Achuta Bat or whatever it's called pretty much breaks Unstoppable Slasher. So what needs to be banned? The Slasher for halfing your health each time it directly attacks? Or the bat for doubling the damage and makes the Slasher go from halfing your health to just fucking 1 shooting you?
>>94162525The bat has other stupid combos it can work with. Even before slasher there were similar combos people were doing with that black spree spell or other black burn type cards
>>94162525>one shootingOne shotting*
Why do Japanese tournaments have a different meta share compared to the rest of the world? Do people netdeck less for big tournaments?
>>94162871Probably something about honor >This decku wasa forged wissu my ownu wirrpower i must bring it to victory for my famiry

>>94162898Why is this in White, this is a green/red/black effect, no? I doubt ponza would want to try casting a double White pip
>>94162964Despite the arenababies crying about losing to stupid 1-drops and not knowing how to use the plethora of removal available Standard is in a really good place right now. It’s an aggro meta for sure but that’s not necessarily a bad thing
>>94162420>TQStarted playing Pauper, the decks are so cheap that I ended up ordering a bunch at onceI do feel like a addict now
>>94162898maybe if it didn't let them search for a land
>>94162972In case y'all haven't heard the arenababies have been crying so hard that the Arena devs have hinted at a possible banning of Leyline of Resonance in Bo1 specifically Which, just, lol
What cards can I add into this Standard deck from last year? The only card I'm thinking I can replace is Wedding Announcement with Dollmaker's Shop. Any additions or replacements would be appreciated.
>>94162999The only card I would keep from this list is the plains.

I'm goldfishing Amulet Titan and this deck is fucking awesome in a way that I didn't know Modern decks could be capable of.How is it positioned? What's it like to play against it?
>>94162891>ah yes...shuffled ova 1000 times.
>>94163235>The Japanese actually have such a diverse meta because they heavily shuffle their decks so every card is marked by wear. That way they can cheat and draw whatever they need for their strategy
>>94163326do you even know what the bushido code is? they don't cheat because the japanese value honor above all else.

>>94163201>How is it positioned?it's in a fine position if you're not expecting to face a lot of jeskai or moon decks (either blue or red)>What's it like to play against it?most decks aren't ready to interact with its play patterns so you just have to race it most of the time

I played in a local legacy tournament last night playing d/tLost to frog 2xWon against maverick This is probably an outlier but ever game I played last night had more cards from MH3 and UB than not. I obviously can't quit, what am I going to do? Sell out of legacy and start playing the fan maintained netrunner game lmao but seriously where do I go to sell my cards?

>>94164265>what am I going to do?get some mh3 and ub cards
>>94164265isn't d&t pretty good against frog? the deck runs like 8-10 removal effects and has built in lifelink in the form of batterskull. it's also not like many decks run anti white creature cards like they used to back when d&t was way more popular.
>>94164171MARO WE NEED MORE ANIME SECRET LAIRSTHEN ANIME FANS WILL LOVE MTGBILLION DOLLAR IDEA!

NOBODY RESPOND TO WHITE SCHIZO
>>94164327We can reconvene in five years from now and compare the two. For better or worse, Magic has momentum and nostalgia going for it. Pretty much every "MTG killer" fizzles out early, the exception being YGO and maybe Hearthstone (except now that's apparently dying too). As much as I would love an actual decent competitor, I have little faith in the one backed up by a property which would consider card games a tertiary interest at best. Far stronger ones have already fallen, where the fuck are games like Gwent and Legends of Runeterra now? TES Legends? Scrolls? Those were backed by huge names which were actually in the video game realm. Or ones like Eternal or Solforge, which were made by people who actually played card games. Or any of the numerous games trying to revitalize paper.
>>94164401ayo, R&D finna balance this card game and shit. No Swords to Plowshares for you, white devil. You just die on turn 2? DAS RITE
>>94164416The biggest problem is that nobody’s made a better game yet. Time has proven that they got it right the first time when making a tcg. If somehow someone managed to make a better game one day I’m sure it would put a huge dent into Magic’s profitability
>>94164265Do you have a fat stack of graded RL cards to leverage against the huge pile of shit that nobody wants to deal with? No? Then you're a bagholder. Learn to like it.
>>94164470People can do better games, it's just that the momentum for existing TCG is so great that people can't penetrate the market. It eventually leads to more short term oriented decision because the reality is that they can't last long in the market.
>>94164482What game is better than magic and why? I’d love to see what you consider superior to it
>>94164485YGO
why did tcg development in the us stop shortly after mtg?
>>94164498>running out of mananot a problem in vintage dredge
>>94164416pretty sure the list from >>94164171 is from japan, but all of the game except one piece and holo tcg are 10+ years old. >MTG killersall the digital ones were tying to be hearthstone killers, none of them cared to be mtg or appeal to mtg players outside of being card games. And as you pointed out HS is slowly crashing, so the clones follow suit.>Physical tcgsIt's always hard to tell because MTG has become so involved in the investment sphere that for every legit new paper tcg there are a dozen MetaZoo Crypto scams that are just trying to extort money from clueless investors believing they are buying into the equivalent of black lotuses or something.
>>94164482There's been plenty of attempts by games that have massive franchises behind them, I don't think that argument can really hold up. The One Piece game is a recent one, we'll see if that can stay alive. Hearthstone did it by focusing on digital. Marvel Snap is apparently doing well, with a focus on mobile. I just remembered Lorcana, too. Disney certainly has its own horde of consoomers, but that never seems to be enough for those games.
Tierlist of the Championship casters?
>>94164498Has there been a single good deck in the history of the game that normal summoned anything? It's been forever, but IIRC you had to sacrifice one lower monster to summon a 5+ star monster, and you had to sacrifice two monsters to summon an 8+ star monster, right? This was a big deal in casual play.

>>94164541>japanYeah, Japan does its own thing. Until it actually affects us out here, their isolated market doesn't really matter.>hearthstone killersSure, call it whatever you want. My point is that they're short lived. We can all argue about how X game is better or Y game is worse, but at the end of the day the easiest hard metric to look at is longevity.>physical scamsAgreed, I'm guessing that along with a couple other factors makes it much harder to get one going nowadays.

Dear lord Bloomburrow is the worst draft format I've ever seen
>>94165341>We didn't think people would use the land destruction ability on the opponent's lands
>>94165861Because cheesecake is a core element of nerd culture. Fantasy art has always been a juxtaposition of softcore porn, horror elements, and power dynamics and when you remove any one of those elements to facilitate broad market appeal you destroy the art of the thing.
>>94165878What if Bloomburrow was a set about a plane of all scantily clad women instead of animals? Would that make it a good draft format?
>>94165934Of course. As we all know, fantasy art has to be softcore porn, horror elements, or power dynamics. People like Tolkien were the death knell of fantasy. We NEED big titty mice and slutty lizards.
>>94165934I didn't enjoy Onslaught limited if that's what you're asking
>>94165934Unironically yes. Anthroshit has always been a revolting buboe on fantasy. The movement to take an artistic medium that is supposed to be challenging and threatening and edgy bastardize it by attempting to make it about dumbed down non-threatening subject matter is massively problematic.
>>94165861Thalia NEEDS to look like this
>>94165848I think it's fear; with the current energy cards being based around spending the very limited amounts of it that you get, you could get out of hand quickly if you introduced weirder things to do with the counters or more powerful energy gain methods.

>>94166027As long as you provide safety valves, that shouldn't really be an issue though. Yes, it's hard to interact with, but that's also true of artifacts and enchantments. The only difference being that the latter are far more common. Thus the answers to them are far more common. You could do shit like:Gremlin Scavenger URCreature - GremlinMenaceWhenever ~ deals combat damage to a player, siphon (move a counter from a permanent or player onto another permanent or player)2/2Tainted Growth 1BGEnchantmentWhenever a permanent or player would gain counters, they gain that many minus one counters instead.>>94166090Sure, just make it so it only affects opponents then.

MTG should do an experimental beach episode set. Alternate artstyle is anime. Style it like an unset, but no acorn stamps or silver borders. Make the characters be past and present legendary creatures and planeswalkers throughout the games history, a commander masters set if you will. Characters in bikini's and swim trunks. Reprint powerful stuff, print more fire cards.I guarantee it will be one of the best selling products made.

>>94166867Card games and eroticism don't go well together.
>>94166764>I guarantee it will be one of the best selling products made. The only thing it would guarantee is that the Magic community will go into civil war.The community has (rightfully) been outspoken about tolerance and respecting bodies to the degree that basically all sex-appeal has been removed from the game with zero consequences. But this isn't to say that players wouldn't love to see swimsuit Chandra balancing a bubble tea on her tits. And so you have all the players who would love beach bods vs community leadership that is only leadership because it has been for the most part anti-bikini. And there is going to be a 100% certainty that the leadership will condemn it for virtue signalling purposes thus forcing the players to also condemn it, and the players who love glorious tits who haven't seen glorious tits in the game for a decade will refuse to bow and there's just going to be strife in every single store.I love glorious tits. But I think those faggots with anime playmats should fuck off because that shit is legitimately inappropriate. Putting glorious tits on cards is just going to revive the sexy playmat/sleeve monster fight except those faggots will have the defence "but it's official Wizards product" and the physical spaces will tear themselves apart (where they still exist because the game is fucking dead).

But what >>94166791 saidbased on what we saw in that one Jump Start, Ravnica Remastered, and Neon Dynasty, the alts didn't really move anything. This tactic probably would have worked pre 2010-2015. Man I have to talk about this fucker again. Not just because Pawpatch Recruit helps to make it even more disgusting. It's just so ridiculous. Occasionally it's a brick, but holy fuck when it's good is it good. Sometimes the Menace anthem just clean pushes through lethal. Sometimes they keep a slow hand, or a hand with only one blocker, and oops it's +6 card advantage on turn 4.I honestly can't believe how powerful this card is, and how it's slipped under the radar. This thing is FUCKING NUTS.
>>94168725I remember seeing it as a 1 of in dredge and thinking that it was nuts.
>>94168750The bottom of its power is 1G to cantrip and tuck an evasion anthem away for later. The best case scenario ranges from enabling lethal, to shredding their entire hand in one swing, to pushing singlehandedly swinging a half dozen points of card advantage.I definitely don't think it's a 4-of, as the odds of it being at its lowest power increases with the more copies you have (Fewer slots for bodies = fewer bodies to swing) but gat dayum whenever it lands, it feels like a nuke.

>>94168796>Wizards is a fucking joke.Jokes are supposed to be funny. WotC isn't a joke, it's just pathetic.

The back side feels like it's intended to transform back for some reason, but I'm sure that lore reasons say no. You may also want to remove the hysteria counters as a part of the transformation if the back doesn't care about them.Probably possible to pull off some oneshots with the right deck and those sword tokens. It should probably be specified that they're colorless. The Happiness one, if you play it on curve and swing every turn puts you on...an 8 turn timer, I think? in 60 card formats, and maybe 9 turns with 100 cards. Some part of me wants to say some of them should be free for maximum greed, maybe one per turn, but that might be a bit much.Green should come right after the p/t when describing The Hermit token, not after the creature types. (And should be 'creature token', not the other way around.) And on the back, it would be checking if The Hermit is on the battlefield, not in it. That said, I'm not sure you need to check given the trigger afterwards. It couldn't attack if The Hermit wasn't on the battlefield outside of the token being phased out or something.Seems like a sad story.

/Ccg/, I have come out with a new (maybe I am wrong) unique mechanic, it has some commonalities with attractions as it uses a different singleton deck of seal token cards. It's called Entombed: when a permanent with entombed enters, you put an amount of face down (or face up in some cases) random seals under the card, then when an action is performed that coincides with a seal, it gets broken and exiled (no stack) When the last seal is broken, you get an effect. I think it's a flavourful mechanic and maybe somebody else would enjoy playing with it.

MtG already uses six-siders and it already uses tokens so at that point you'd just need a rules tip card mapping numbers to seals (or a custom die. Or a repurposed custom die from some other game that has 6 abstract symbols). Traumatic amnesia is a mess, I'd workshop it and try to cull simpler designs out of it, not every card has to do everything.
>>94175289ngl anon I don't fuck with your vision
>>94175289>It needs to be singleton and random or you could put only a type of seal and they would banish all at the same typeA consideration:If your idea doesn't work within the rules of MTG, it is a bad idea.Just make Seals a type of Enchantment that blows itself up to do something cool on a particular trigger. Maybe integrate a learn/lesson mechanic into them if you really want the out-of-game interactions.
>>94175289>>94175341Honestly?As fucking terrible and clunky a solution this is, I don't mind the six Seals being tokens and rolling 1d6 to determine which one you hit.You could even go for the WOE flip-token style they used for Roles, to avoid the annoyance of having to find them.
>>94175289>d put only a type of seal and they would banish all at the same type. It can also work as a quest type mechanic, but I think it is more interesting as a semi-hidden mechanic where your opponent can involuntarily help you if you can't get rid of a specific seal by yourself.Another thing, I don't know if I'd do anything that would ask your opponents to remove seals, but if I did then I'd deal multiple seals and say that the opponent only has to break one of them, it's more fair that way because there's a bunch of shit that not every deck can do. I'd also make sure it was something that could potentially be played around (not countering a spell and exiling their whole hand lmao). Synergy wise I assume you understand that the decks which want to break seals are diametrically opposed to the decks which want to prevent seals from being broken. No deck is ever going to do both unless it's also full of "get something whenever you make a seal" type support effects.
>>94175431My greentext there was an accident and has no specific relevance.
>>94175289Requiring people to have a different deck is the reason stickers and attractions got banned in Vintage. It's not fun preparing an entire set of cards because you might copy someone else's effect that relies on them.

>>94173270>>94175582Maybe I'll just put 4x calendar in Nykthos and try to hit AWBO with Storm :D
Put me in coach.
>>94175730Fuck this guy and his false color scheme. I did kind of dig the dumb subterranean merfolk though, it's cute that they used to put in that kind of effort when inserting things that don't belong on a given plane.
>>94174224>Unironically begin by just ripping off the reserved list entirely. Reprint true duals and cut down barrier to entry on the format. Making the format cheaper to play will get more people interested for ZERO effort in format curation.I've been for killing the Reserve List forever. But I am against it now because it will kill the stores. What the RC did with the EDH bans fucking stabbed the stores in the eyes. Thousands of dollars just evaporated in an instant, imagine a year's rent just gone like that. Ten, twenty years ago this would have been nothing just as removing the RL back then would have been nothing because the game and stores were strong then. But now stores are weak, and the only thing keeping them somewhat alive is EDH. Whatever damage removing the RL does to stores will not be outweighed by how many people return to play Legacy/Vintage. In order for Wizards to actually kill the RL at this moment and revive the formats as you say, they have to reprint everything in one massive product, not just the RL cards but all the staples, that is not in limited supply, and at regular booster prices - it has to be consumer friendly and store friendly and NOT the same price gouging horseshit that was 30th.And it's never going to happen. Wizards won't kill the RL and protect the stores at the same time. Just like they couldn't be fucking bothered to make 30th accessible to anybody.
>>94175822stores can get fucked. events can fire at community centers, VFWs, libraries, malls, anywhere. stores serve no purpose other than creating a safe space for the wrong kinds of people.
>>94175822>>94174224They probably won't reprint true duals but they might make something strictly better than true duals. They only care about a format when they're trying to rotate it.
