Thread seems kinda quiet. Post /yourdudes/ whether they be old, new, or /wip/. These were some guys I built for Legions of Nagash in 2nd edition but I've been thinking about building my cursed city dudes to flesh them out to 1kpts now that nighthaunt stuff is its own thing and allies are kinda kaput.

I'm not sure how to handle it, but I loved ToW/FB Dwarfs of both kinds. However in AoS, Steampunk Dwarfs look WAY too goofy for my tastes and Fyreslayers are just...SLAYERSLAYERSSLAYERS which suck ass because what little lore I read of them makes them less one-trick ponies compared to WHFB Slayers when it comes to purpose and personalities (as mercs espcially), BUT THEY LOOK SO SAMEY.

It's like they leaned way too heavily into the meme-ier parts of the Dwarfs from the World That Was.

It pretty clearly got folded into Era of the Beast given the random little aside focusing on it in that book, despite being some of the best shit to come out of that company C7 treats Soulbound and the staff that made it like a battered housewife just because it sells well but not as good as WHFRP (despite having 0 advertisement for it, unlike WHFRP).

They want to keep the license so they’ll keep making shit for it at a slow pace, especially since their talent left behind a bunch of half-finished books on the way out, but I wouldn’t expect to see anything else before Champions of Chaos comes out at some point next year

I’m a rabid fan of IDK with over 3k of them to prove it, but that’s my biggest criticism of their lore. As long as they stay written this way in lore, all they are is a nuisance on the realms. Their ultimate win condition is curing their curse, something that even Teclis couldn’t do. Otherwise, they just sit there raiding and raiding. They don’t have nearly the level of internal conflict as Dark Eldar so there’s not much to write about there. I’m by no means a good writer, but even I can understand they need achievable goals written in for them to accomplish while they run on the treadmill chasing their carrot of a curse cure. What those goals could be is beyond me.

Their entire concept is too rooted in this way too monolithic soul stealing business that have got so, so so worn out already. Them ALWAYS being side quest nuisances to the REAL guys in narratives doesnt help it either. the problem is the fatcast design, they're getting rid of it, sacrosanct was a huge chunk, due to its ETB kits would keep being in competition with newer stormcast starter products, it was a mostly self contained range and there's a convenient excuse to get rid of them all

That's about what I figured honestly, but it's still weird to me with how relatively recent those sculpts are in a game that isn't even a decade old yet. I just hope I can get a few of the kits cheap-ish, I'd never want to have a Stormcast army but some of the sculpts are nice to look at and they'd be a fun Your Dudes thing as rogue Stormcast who still want to find a way to perfect the reforging process.

Quite literally because I got the Fire and Blood half, Dawnbringers box, Warcry box, and 20 more Vulkites for £70 all NOS. Started the army because it was cheap and if I could speak to anyone in here who is unsure about starting an army or is having trouble deciding. For the love of Christ, don't start and army just because it's cheap. I know this isn't new wisdom to bestow, but only ever buy a model or unit if you like how it looks. Saying that, I started to enjoy painting the Fyreslayers heros and discovered I really just like painting heros more than anything

Some interesting new/expanded lore tidbits from the new SCE book

>Morrda explicitly survived in some part after Nagash took over Shyish. Directly addresses the previous lore that Nagash ate Morr as what Death factions believe but counters that with Morr answering the prayers of his faithful in Lethis/Ruination chambers.

>Morrda is said to be actively allied with Sigmar and has been this entire time. He is what empowers the Relictors and is possibly contributing to the Reforging, much to Nagash's chagrin.

>Ruination guys aren't just reforged too much but are explicitly the stormcast that have fallen out of the Eye Of The Storm and are now in an unrecoverable mental decline, only a handful of reforgings away from becoming lightning gheists (who also get some explicit descriptions now)

Also the book had more new art in it than I thought it would, was actually pretty cool. Lots more Hallowed Knights POVs which is cool.

GW already, weirdly, explained what happened with Morrda in a WD article. Basically several Gods survived and just float through the void in the essence. Another way for GW to bring back things they want to bring back. But nobody really cares for WHFB gods outside of Sigmar, Taal and Ulric (who got merged with Ursun). Nobody remembers the Gods of Order in WHFB anyway. Also Allah exists in WHFB but don't expect him to come back either. Gilgadresh and She'ar Khawn won't come back. Orange Simca won't come back. Rigg won't come back (but is a weird thing in itself, since there is contradictory origins of the Amazons and he's technically an Old One). Albion's Pantheon won't come back either.

So yeah, I could see Taal at least coming back.

Speaking of the book, does it explain why Idrian uses 'they/them' pronouns? Is it an actual explanation or explained or is it just nonsense?

Pre GHB1 1ed was unbelievably funny to play as seraphon. Unlimited lizardmen summoning means I'd take kroak and a bunch of skinks and run around the map dumping dinosaurs and temple guard everywhere. It was my first wargame and I had a blast with it. My friends skeletons were daisy chaining around and throwing out like a million attacks for a unit of 40 and bringing back like 10 a turn. It was so busted it barely worked but led to some seriously funny stuff. The meme rules were mostly ignored by my group but everyone was excited to try and break the game as bad as possible it was really fun.
