To catch you up on 30 years of people playing this game and understanding the mechanics let me help you
Access to more cards (usually drawing, but also moving them to revealed zone like graveyard) = higher chance of winning
Good card for 1-3 mana is better than strong card 4+ mana, anything you see 4+ mana outside of draft is usually bonkers
Any combo with more than 2 pieces sucks with very few exceptions
Cast your spells during 2nd main phase after you attack unless you have a reason to cast them 1st main phase
Always play at instant speed unless you have a reason to play at sorcery speed
Consistency is more valuable than explosiveness, especially after sideboard. This is why creature decks haven't been overrun by nothing but combo
Every match you need to establish "who's the beatdown?" to figure out if you need to apply pressure or cause the game to go long
Wizards is full of psychopath shitheads that want to milk every penny from retards. You can accept it or whine about it but it will never change. You can join a closed card pool format if you want to play while being completely isolated from retarded current year WOTC.

Even in the old, now-retconned, lore she never killed her parents.
Her original lore was that she had latent fire magic in a place where magic was looked down upon so they tried to "settle her down" with a husband, which she didn't like, and ran away from home because of it. She then found out that her parents were murdered and she was framed for it, which made her spark and then run away.
Her new lore is that she had latent fire magic in a place where magic was looked down upon but her parents supported her but they still got executed and she was blamed so she sparked and ran away. Except her mom didn't die, for some reason.
I don't remember her new lore 100%

>murder/counter spam
Draw cards. 7 murders against 8 creatures means 1 creature isn't murdered.
Run higher quality 1-3 cost cards. If your opponent spends 2 to counter a 1 drop creature, you're coming out ahead in terms of mana investment and neutral in cards as you both spent 1 card.
>red deck spamming haste/prowess
I am once again asking you to look for cards that cost 1-3 mana that are good. If you play a stronger threat, you can ignore or force a trade for red creatures. If you play an answer, you don't have to worry about the red creatures.

>they're for sure banning Phlage because they want to push Energy for some ungodly reason.
It's probably because energy was such a failure of a mechanic last time and everybody hated it while it dominated the standard meta, then it not only rotated into modern but saw far less success.
Since MH sets are also used for Wizards to print mechanics they know are too broken for Standard but still want to experiment with, as well as push the power level of Modern.
So Wizards sees Energy is a flop, and wants to try to fix while also pushing it for Modern. But there's not fixing Energy, it's a ridiculously parasitic mechanic that's hard to interact with, annoying to play against, and unpopular. Most of the designs are just them putting Energy onto an already existing card like a Soul Warden with the additional upside of providing Energy, or they give you Energy and also require that to either use the effect of the card they're based off of which ends up making the card more versatile and less intractable.
Besides it was already effectively replaced by treasures which exist as a similar but more intractable form of bankable resource.

WotC missed a trick with Chandra / Liliana. In the original Kaladesh / Aether Revolt story they had the beginnings of something going with Liliana fixing Chandra's blouse and tousling her hair and very shortly spending time as a loving mentor (see: Diabolic Tutor art, etc) but they immediately threw it into the trash for Chandra x Nissa.

I want RB Chandra who has finally flown off of the handle and isn't going to take shit anymore. I want a pinup shot of Chandra on the bike with Liliana leaning against the rear wheel.

I don't know why the fuck they think making a product named "Jumpstart" not be Standard legal if their intention is to make Standard an onboarding format. They are erecting barriers to Standard just as fast as they are trying to attract players into it.

Like I understand the intention here is to have both Standard and EDH be the onboarding formats, which is why Sol Ring is the fucking buy-a-box promo. But holy shit you can't make the Jumpstart product ONLY feed into EDH when there is a dedicated EDH product already. You can't not educate players on what the two primary formats are, have them buy shit, and put the burden on the store to explain to them that unfortunately the way they've constructed their deck is illegal. I understand that's the way it's been done forever but it's not how you do things when you're trying to revive a dead format like Standard. Every new player you fuck over makes it just that much harder to revive Standard. Forget the fact that every new player will be likely only find EDH players.

The way you revive Standard is to attract ESTABLISHED players to play Standard. And I guess this is where I somewhat disagree with you is that Foundations is not well put together. New players don't give a shit about the card quality in a baseline product they'll be happy to play with anything. It's the established players you have to give incentive to play Standard, you have to print shit they want in that set and guess what printing the Scry lands instead of the Suveil lands is such a dumb fucking move that is a missed opportunity to convince these players to play Standard. Like what the fuck is in Foundations for people, there's fucking nothing. They needed to legitimately print Snapcaster, Fauna Shaman, Fetches (at uncommon), and a pile of other good shit.

A bunch of new players looking to find Standard where there is no Standard being played aren't going to play Standard.

mtgo leagues are not an accurate representation of the best players playing the best decks, different people of different skill level play leagues for a bunch of different reasons

Rustvine Cultivator is unplayable, you forgot Dwynen's Elite, and Break Out does nothing in this deck (it can't fetch Archdruid). You also probably want to play Werefox Bodyguard (it's an elf) so you don't just die on T4.

Still not sure if you can build standard elves. Only 1 good mana dork and no Warmaster makes the deck way too inconsistent for how hard you get blown out by board wipes. I wish they reprinted the good Vivien instead of that M19 piece of shit so we had something decent to ramp into.

If enough people voice their opinion by not buying new product, then yes, the idea of voting with your wallet works. Obviously it has to compare to the amount of new customers spending their money. You are retarded to think it never works.
>>
>>94309179
Rustvine cultivator like citanul stalwart is one of the only ways to get turn 3 Voja down, especially with minimal cards. You need 2 dorks on turn 1/2 if you want turn 3 voja, and you won't always half llanowar elves in hand. Its also a 1 mana elf for lords + visionary to spam out
Same reason you need 4x break out, its a tutor that finds your voja/tyvar or it puts a mana dork onto the field with haste on turn 2 to curve into them

if you go for archdruid as your #1 game plan all you wind up doing is dying to sweepers / fliers / aggro / etc because you're too slow. Turn 3 voja gets around most removal and can kill faster than sunfall

That is specifically a case where they voted with their wallet, in support of the game. Their complaints and "boycott" means nothing to the company. They can bitch and moan about whatever they wanted, but since they still spent money to buy the game, the company will keep doing whatever they were complaining about.

So we can agree they care about other things, not just line going up. Perhaps they also care about player numbers. Perhaps even if whales continue to give money, if other people stop playing the game, that'd be something they care about. Perhaps that's what voting with your wallet means.

>>94309450
See but they don't care about player numbers if they're making up for it elsewhere. Modern has become a shell of its former self, Standard has been weak for a long time, and Pioneer has been stagnant. WotC doesn't care if they lose those players if they can compensate with EDH players and UB tourists. Honestly, I'm not even sure EDH is growing much anymore, which is why they're going so hard on pandering to UB tourists. Pandering to the tourists is basically an admission that they no longer know how to retain players.

WotC had to replace all of four cards arts for Rakshasas, and the fact that they did this is only more proof that the company who blacked all of their angels is in thrall to insane consultancy activists (who still doubts this?). Do you know how many fucking Goblins there are in Magic? Do you know how many Goblins they've reprinted and defaced this year alone? Hasbro didn't give WotC enough budget to replace every single card, but they'll get there.

>tankie

>if you no longer contribute money to the game, you are affecting player numbers
Proxies, playing static formats (premodern), stop updating your existing deck(s), etc.
Sales numbers and player numbers are two metrics that are different but remain roughly related. "Health of the standard format" is another example. Wotc only cares about it to the extent that it affects player numbers/sales numbers.
If player numbers dropped, but that smaller group of players each spent a million dollars, wotc would not care.
Another alternative to death threats would be appealing to the moral sensibilities of decision-makers, for example the decision to gulag the White Power 7
Those were not affecting sales numbers, nor was it affecting player numbers. That decision was made because the company's decisions are made by PEOPLE, and those people are faggots.

>Proxies, playing static formats (premodern), stop updating your existing deck(s), etc.
Yes, all of those would be voting with your wallet.
>If player numbers dropped, but that smaller group of players each spent a million dollars, wotc would not care.
This is true. But think about it some more. Magic is notorious for being an expensive hobby. I have firsthand in trying to get people into the game, they always talk about how stuff is too expensive. The typical tourist is maybe buying a starter kit or a couple packs, maybe some EDH precon. Some might try Arena as a f2p player. The veteran players are the whales here, as well as the wannabe investors. It's the opposite situation of what you've described.
>moral sensibilities
Unless you have some way to magically change someone's outlook on morality or can influence who gets put into those positions, I don't see how this would be relevant here. It's a non starter.
>>

they have a bunch of those already, problem is the cards they search for are overcosted and undertuned duel deck planeswalkers. so it's better that it stays that way and they don't make Oko2 and then a Disciple of the Oko that searches your deck and GY for an Oko planeswalker and exiles it and you can then cast that exiled card from exile

>relevance
Its not a prescriptive idea, just an additional example of an alternative decision-making metric.
>all of those would be voting with your wallet
The point was to illustrate that sales numbers and player numbers are not correlated 1:1. You can affect sales numbers without affecting player numbers and vice versa
>whales are /ourguys/
I mean, I hope so, but that's the point, right? The whales are the only players whos vote matters. Everyone else has already been factored into the decision. They know UB isn't universally popular, thats why they gave us so many concessions in the first place (lies that they were), like that UH wouldnt be in standsrd, or would only be alternate versions of existing cards, or that we would get Universes Within versions of new cards.
For them to switch up on us means their internal numbers indicate the loss of sales from declining veteran player numbers will be offset by sales to new players.

Schizo theory time, this isn't actually Chandra. We know the government hated pyromancy, it'd be reasonable for there to be pyromancers in hiding.
