GW has been remaking old units for kill team like the return of the Arbites (freeing them from the suspected IP hell of Malal, Rak'gol, Slaugth) , the SoB kill team where they don't have the armoured helmet but that nun hat thing that only exsited in like a single piece of artwork before.
I think more niche stuff and kill teams are coming once the last of the aspect warriors get updated. Sslyth kill team would be cool if they don't come with the coming deldar refresh.

Kill team idea, tell me if I'm cooking
>Relic Seekers
a Gray Knight team of lightly armed psykers who are sent to seek, well, relics. Although they don't have much in the way of firepower they have a lot of tricks in their pockets, like forcefully repositioning enemies, creating psychic barriers, or even picking up objectives from a range. Lore wise they're not given such hefty weaponry to prevent collateral damage
VS
>Daemon Wranglers (best name I could give em sue me)
Three chaos sorcerors with a pack of lesser daemons at their thrall. A hybrid of chaos cult, vespids, and hierotek in which the sorcerors control and direct the daemons and upgrading their capabilities

>>94409868
>Relic Seekers
I had the same idea in the general thread, a bunch of itner chapter astartes go to recover the armour and weapons of famous astartes who fell in battle, or to old battlefields or forgotten fortresses to recover the machine spirits of the chapters. A tech focused version of the death watch.
>>
>>94409868
I'm not a huge fan of forceful repositions. The hearthkyn dozr one works because of the limitations, but the brood lord mind control is only fair because it's too costly and risky to actually use and the ventrilokar is balanced-ish but not fun to play against
So I'd personally stay away from those abilities

New to killteam, are there any old killteams that arent going out of rotation? What can i pick up that'll be safe from getting squatted

>>
>>94417606
So note that all teams will stay supported until the end of the edition, they just won't be GW-tournament legal
So for casual play, no biggie
But if you want to be truly safe from squatting, play marines or generic guard and adapt them with a few new members to play them as different teams. You can easily make a marine squad of 20 that can cover multiple marine teams, and a guard squad that can cover vetguard, kasrkin, blooded, wyrmblade, and brood brothers, and expand it in the future in such a way that you can play any other guard or marine team additions to the game.

I've thought about getting a repressor rhino to use with an exaction team, I assume there's STLs floating around.
>>
>>94415423
I genuinely think going back to the old Stealth Suit design would be an interesting way to demonstrate how the Tau relationship with technology differs to The Imperium. If the new design was unpopular with operators, too expensive, or impractical for real combat operation as opposed to how it tested in an Earth Caste lab then it makes perfect sense to just scrap it and return to a previous more popular/dependable design.

It probably won't happen though. The bubble head aesthetic for stealth suits is just part of them now. Shadowsun and the Ghostkeel both have it, even the new Vespid stealth suit has it. Although all three are less pronounced than the XV25.

It's a shame because the concept art is way better than the final mini we ended up with.
>>
I've been reflecting on my experiences from the new edition, especially after the tournament a few days ago. I'll probably be making several posts here, bear with me.

Game's absolutely better than before - I mean damn, the new scoring system elevates the gameplay something supreme - but first, there are definitely some balance issues. Given that a majority of my games so far have been against new players I can only comment on a handful of teams, but;
>Angels of Death
Felt fair to play against, susprisingly, at least as another marine team. They only really need a numbers shift, no major reworks. It's a shame too, their abilities look fun and I'm not sure where I'd put their nerfs without making the team feel much less fun.
>Novitiates
Have way too many faith points, they just never run out. If they could be drained of points their dice fixing would feel fine, but as is they're just way too unreliant on dice and accurate and tough thanks to their points. Not sure in what way I'd reduce the points but that's certainly where I'd nerf them.
>Kommandos
Can't believe the most balanced team of last edition remains balanced, with one exception I'll get to later. If you're not picking harpoons as equipment you're missing out btw, with dakka dakka active a harpoon becomes super accurate. Collapsible stocks is also cool, I think if they do need nerfs equipment is where I'd place any nerfs because it's really nice.
>Legionaries
Obvious issue with certain hardcounters, specifically that any team with a majority 4+ to hit, either ranged or melee, just gets completely boned by the slaanesh strat ploy. Outside that I think it's just the same issue as AoD, some numbers need to be tweaked down.
>Breachers
Need more damage output and/or toughness, they just don't hold up numbers-wise.

So tac ops. Fantastic changes to scoring right, the even split between the three VP sources and reduction in number of tac op options and selections have made my experience so much better. And interestingly, in playing phobos for several games, I've found them to actually favour non-elite teams.
>confirm kill
This is a fine op for elite teams, no need for extra actions. However, AGAINST elite teams it becomes even stronger, with each kill dropping a single token worth 2VP. Your first 3 deaths effectively give up 8VP on their own as a result.
>recover items
Need to test this more, but the reason I've avoided it is you need to get to three locations, two of which your opponent picks, spend an action on each, and then stay alive with those operatives, while also getting all the rest of the job done. Seems difficult, basically, certainly harder than confirm kill.
>Plant beacons
Honestly, just a lot worse than confirm kill. You need to spread out more, and spend extra actions on it. Why pick it when confirm kill is often easier?
>overrun
The one op that seems better for elites than for non-elites, since a single operative can do it for them. Feels sort of auto-pick honestly, if you have access to it.
>storm objectives
3 objectives only should say enough. The biggest issue I see is how easy it is for an opponent to avoid their objectives to deny the opportunity to score it at all.
>champion
Only really a valid pic if either player is marines. For marines you MAY be able to get a double kill. Against marines you just need one guy that is guaranteed to get a kill per turn, so again good for elites but even better against them.

>contain
Might be doable for T2 but once your opponent is aware that you're using it, if they have the activation advantage, they can send one sacrifice into position per turn to block it. Partial points is easy, but full points seems almost impossible.
>take ground
Most map-dependent in the game, for all types of teams. On custom open maps I have to deliberately set up so that it's possible to score at all, and most maps other alternatives are just preferable. Having to get much further than the centre line just makes it much worse than
>secure centre
Seems doable enough, as long as there is terrain for it. I've yet to have a good opportunity though.
>surveillance
Either hot garbage or broken, depending on team. For most teams, having to walk onto the enemy side, pretend to shoot someone, and then not get killed is too slow and wasteful, and for elite teams it's even more so. On the other hand, some teams have it way too easy to score - noteably the kommandos and their grot. Not sure if it's a mistake or not but the card lacks the clause about not setting up, so operatives like the grot and mandrakes can teleport far into the backline and score for free. As elites that can't spare an operative to hunt the grot down, it was free full tac op points.
>implant
Not great for elite teams since you need to leave operatives alive, but against elite teams it works real well. Just like a few others, it works for elite teams but mostly really AGAINST elite teams.
>wiretap
Another that is easy to get partial points for, just drop your token next to the enemy and it's a lot like plant beacons. Getting an enemy to end their turn next to them is unreliable when you have fewer activations though. Still doable.

So yeah. Not a lot of good options for elites. Either matchup/map dependent, or requires hoops and several extra actions to be performed.

So finally, I have to face one last reflection, which is that I don't really know how to play the game anymore. Like, I can analyze a situation, but my old wisdom from KT21 is misleading. In last edition, relentless aggression and initiative was everything - if you didn't surge forward every turn and score points relentlessly you were fucked, and I've had games won or lost due to an early lead of a single point that stayed all match. T1 forward movement was crucial.
Now that overall gameplan - which I still use for guidance on instinct - is no longer king and needs to be reworked. Seeing a gunline strategy that never moved more than to the centre line even at the end of a game work decently well was an eye-opener, but there are more examples. Against novitiates, I realised that I had an opportunity to steal his objectives and run away with them. That match went to shit, but running back to my drop zone at the end of T2 with objectives in tow was about the one good outcome I managed. Against kommandos, I moved forward with a wounded reiver to riskily contest an objective, but I'm not sure that was the right move in hindsight - he died as a result, I could've probably still gotten the point, and the only reason I did it was because "there is nothing else I can get out of him this turning point". Keeping him back for next turn was probably the better move (that or being more aggressive, risking his death earlier but potentially killing an enemy instead).
Also makes me wonder what misplays I've made in other games so far that are invisible to me, because the path to victory lay along a completely different game plan and the one I was using was just incorrect.

Exciting though. Opening up all these additional strategies for viable use makes these early stages of exploring the game much more fun, just like KT21 upped the gameplay options from KT18. I can't wait for the first major fixes for balance to drop so I can enjoy the game to the fullest.

Just wanted to say that the eliminator being able to park on top of Volkus and take shots in concealment is literally nonsense. How could they not have playtested the mascot faction's team on the new hotness terrain? Eliminator is just disgusting against 10 man teams. There isn't any damn room on the top platform to melee him because of his massive 40mm base! Unless you are one of like half the teams with seek light, you are literally fucked.

Maybe vespids just have a bad matchup against Marines; seems like even with all of the ploys and equipment, 9/10 times, if you are rolling defense dice, you're going to lose the model.

>>94419599
The issue with the AoD sniper is he can get there really quickly and once he's there he cannot be charged because he takes up the whole platform with his base.
Had it happen a few days ago for me. Was a bit more manageable as phobos because I could remain concealed behind heavy terrain for the most part, but he still dominated one of the objective markers for free.

Its such a bad spot to be in because it's getting to the point where I think the best set up is Endurant+ Sergeant and all Armsmen. Maybe 1 melta gunner. Anything else you're just gimping yourself, especially against elites.

Reread it. All you need to do is pick it up, no need to survive
>>
>>94420048
You need to control it at the end of the battle too, and while it doesn't have to be the same operative that's not much different with an elite team since there are 3 of them.
Perhaps there is a strategy where you plan out T2 such that you can nab them and move back afterwards, though. If you can die with them all in the same area it'd be a lot more doable.

>>

>can I use them for Kill Team or is their base size an issue?
No, Assault Intercessors are on 32mm in both 40K and Kill Team. And, yes, you can use them as part of an Angels of Death Kill Team provided you also have a Sergeant or a Captain.
>>
>>94421849
>Wish the board and tokens was easier to get too lmao.
What does this mean? You can get the tokens with the rulebook or just print your own. The board can easily be replaced by an appropriately sized battlemat, which plenty of places make. You'll still need to provide terrain though.

Looking at my Angels of Death team next. I've got a few models to paint before I can run them, but in the meantime I'm cobsidering what chapter tactics I should run them with.
Given that they're dark angels successors, I don't think I can leave out Resolute, it just fits perfectly. However, with the Angels of Absolution being less bound by their guilt I feel that an appropriate way to field them would be to use Resolute as the secondary tactic. That means if they adapt their tactics I'll be exchanging APL immunity for something else. Works both fluff-wise and gives me more fun play options, best of both worlds.
Question is just what the primary tactic would be. I'm currently leaning hard for Duellists, given the DA tendance towards swordplay. Sharpshooters would also be fitting, given their stand and shoot gunline style of combat. I could go Hardy, but I want to give that to the assault sergeant to represent his combat shield as his 3rd tactic. The rest feel less than appropriate for a DA-like chapter to use.
Thoughts?

I want to play kill team on the tabletop for real since I finally have a good store I can play at, but I've never painted or built anything before. Want to build phobos strike force using Alpha legion bits. How hard is kitbashing and painting for someone with no experience in this stuff?

Surprisingly easy, you get a pretty good result from few very easy techniques. I recommend giving it a try and Kill team is an excellent game for that as the commitment isn't too big

Goobertown has by far the best and most realistic starter painter tutorial

Whats the consensus on the new Plague Marine kill team?
>>
>>94425009
its still plague marines. slow tanks that are hard to kill but if your enemy is numerous and fast they can hit every objective as you are still waddling down the line. Biggest weakness is still closed quarters which is funny since they are the trench warfare chapter.
>>
>>94425024
Iron Warriors are the trench warfare chapter
>>
>>94425024
I heard their toxic damage was overpowered from some youtube video so I was just curious where /ktg/ would put them on a tier list
>>
>>94425043
Did you never wonder why the death guard wear WW1 helmets and are all about chemical warfare like thematically? they used trench warfare as a way to slowly but inexorably press forwards then assault a enemy command point at sundown when visibility was at its worst. Both made use of trench warfare but for DG its part of the aesthetic but for IW its more of a static defence cold war aesthetic. Similar but different. Like how Dark Angels and Black Templars are both monastic but ones the 5th reich and the others the dark angels.
>>
>>94425064
Entirely depends on what the match is and who is the opponent. I've seen them do very well in wide open tabletops against very strong foes but put a lot of terrain in there to slowly move around and i've seen a guy beat them through sheer speed and numbers with pure genestealers before. Sure if they get in combat those bugs are gonna melt but they are reaching objective multiple turns before most dg can.

And here I thought the 11 ops for navy breachers was to help with the changes to elites.
Oh well. I'll try them out this weekend and let you all know how it goes. All this really does is makes me take one less specialist so I'm pretty sure I'm just dropping the grenadier.
>>
>>94425081
How do you think they would do against the new Nemesis Claw?
>>
Are Void-Dancers fun?
>>
>>94425094
I was running them without the spare model before the nerf and they're fine. They work best in ITD and/or vs AoE teams.
>>
>>94425125
Nemesis claw is very much a "one list per game type" team. You have your Visionary, maybe two basic bitch marines and then its one of whichever specialists counter your shit. With the visionary being a psyker who can fuck with the flow of battle as is stuff like the icon bearer or the heavy gunner make them a perfect middle of the road. They can roughly go up against anyone but also not win as often as glass cannons or hammers but then of course it also depends on the player.

Meanwhile DG is a lot more just "do i take the blast weapon based on amount of terrain?".

At the end of the day both are astartes, both have a psyker, a heavy weapons guy and icon bearer and i feel like for both in my experience those decide matches, the other specialists decide combat encounters if that makes sense. I just feel Night Lords have a little more freedom to readjust on the fly while Death Guard can be one of those "you know by the end of turn one if you are going to dominate or struggle to catch up" kind of teams.
>>
>>94425325
Thanks for your insight, im newer to the game and I appreciate it

>Plague Marines /ktg/ Tier List
Top Tier A I thought was the consensus. Lacks the flexability, speed and ploys to make it a true S tier pick?

>Oh hey updates released today
Seems to be a whole lot of nothing, no nerfs to Warp Coven and legionary, a handful of adjustments to lower teams (including the idea of Torrent 0 for the Kommando Burnaboy) but nothing major. Biggest thing was cleaning up the equipment (keeping it out of access points making it clear that nubby feet don't give cover), making sure it's clear that 'sneaky zogger' rules are not meant to ignore being within 2" ignores concceals. Vespid probably got the most changes?

Also had a few Joint Ops scenarios involving snipers which is actually the best thing in the update.
>>
>>94425302

abso fucking lutely. Plus you have to pay the Action Tax to open a door so 2 APL teams are also on the weaker side, unless you have tricks up your sleeve
>>
>>94426126
There's really only two "flying" teams now (Vespids with true fly and Clowns with pseudo-fly), but yes any ability that deals with verticality is useless on ITD by definition

Granted, those sorts of abilities also let you move through enemy models which can be just as if not more important on ITD

Also everyone has to pay 1" to move through open hatchways on ITD now, so being able to Fly (which is functionally a teleport) also lets you ignore that cost

Could also look for the blackstone fortress traitor guard but I doubt you'll find them at a reasonable price
Could just buy recasts

Thank you ill do that
Just gotta build 4 more troopers

Any regiment can turn traitor in theory
Blooded themselves aren't from any specific planet afaik, they could be from any of countless worlds or even a ad hoc combination of traitor units from different regiments/theaters

Whats playing against them like?
>>
>>94430017
The original set has a fully playable team if you include the enforcer and ogryn, I think only missing some specialists, though 4 more troopers could be made into specialists instead

I only ordered them from ebay a couple days ago but they look fun from the batreps I watched and asymmetric horde teams are cool too

Whats your dream kill team?
Terrain?

Either khorne humans (psychos and prisoners) or a haemonculus with wracks and abominations

Id like to see a hab block apartment with a huge courtyard and 3 levels of height around it with scatter terrain in the middle.
>>
What team do you wish didnt exist?
>>

Vet Guard. Not because I hate DKoK or the sprues or anything they're great, but because they're not very... special forces. They're the guys you send in droves to zerg rush not specialists doing super important missions.

>Dream KT
Necron-mancer team that does something similar to Aquilons where they hot drop models but it's more like the leader is raising them from the ground to kill once more. A zombie horde basically. Also a minor xeno mercenary team
>Terrain
Train. Big train with each "map" being a train cart. Each turning point its movements fuck with you
>>
>>94430052
Terminators. Any chapter. With servo skulls as the mooks
Id love to see organic terrain for once. Like a tyranid jungle from dow2
>>
>>94430052
>dream kt
Literally sexy as fuck daemonettes and a micro keeper of secrets. Probably some twunk as the leader
The opposing killteam will be necron flayers
>terrain
Palace of slannesh with hookah smoke special rules, musk of the demonwhore
The floor is slippery with cum so when someone gets hit by +4 damage or a crit they get knocked back 2 inches and the walls are lined with spikes that do d3 mortals. Id call the box Pain and Pleasure

All guard armies. It just doesnt make sense. Theyre mooks of the setting
>>
>they will release more space marine killteams
Its all so tiresome

Damn that seems like a lot of book keeping. So a token for each status effect for each mini?

And their "actual design" is even better than the concept art. The model comes fairly close to the art you posted but with some unfortunate bulges that really failed to translate.

Remember, this is what the XV25 was supposed to look like. A central shape with a flattened "shroud" overlapping the torso. With the halfsies composition of Joint Ops there may be the possibility of a model line expansion into providing more niche design options that could "fit" onto existing models.

All the T'au XV25 kit needs is a blister sized upgrade sprue with two addition torsos (a classic XV15 and "true" XV25) along with two or three additional weapons (Token sprue filler flamer [Ghostkeel style], an Ion [Phased Disruptor? or Cyclic], and some kind of Rail profile), and a couple of backpack doodads for specialist configurations.

I feel like many rule or skill descriptions across many games are written with way more words than they need
>buff a guy with one of the options below
>said guy can only be buffed once
A token sounds fine

In the Moroch book, they mention a specific regiment name for the Blooded, but its not really important. As you said, anyone can turn traitor, and the rules are just a template for whatever you want to play.

>>94429980
If you have access to prints, there are some good STL sets for traitor guard made by Station Forge as well as Wargame Exclusive and Red Pilgrim. They include all the KT options.
Or you print the scanned GW kit.

I paint them, play with them occasionally and let anyone who wants to play with them play with them duh.

I really don't understand "maining" in kill team. I personally have multiple teams I play with depending of the mood.

>people who don't play Space Marines in 40k doing with their SM in the starter box?

They dont buy the starter box? Or just sell them on ebay?
