>>94406796>What was the most disappointing set of 2024?I was most disappointed at Murders at Karlov manner, as it failed on every level to deliver. It didn't feel like a murder mystery, leaned on only the most surface-level tropes, and failed entirely to feel like Ravnica at the same time. Thunder Junction is a close second for botching what should have been a slam-dunk of flavor, but at least it did some things right.
>>94406796mkm was the worst, not!manifest, not!morph leading to a billion more types of facedown cards, but now instead of being generic creatures you have to know that they have ward for some reasongravestorm being on another card is cool tho
Page 8 is still early. Anyway, repost:>Rite of the Dragontimmy is already at 1/3 the price it was a week before release>despite being in multiple e-celeb “top in the 99” listsFeels good bros. It’s going to a buck fifty. Sadly people’s faith in random retards online who got popular by personality rather than being good at games will not see such a market crash
>>94406782Oh hey. I ended up finding a nice dragon goad deck on a list of budget commander decks that I played for the first time on Friday. Out of the 3 games we played, 1 of them being a 3s, I won one of the games. I had a ton of fun with the goad mechanic though. He won 2 of those games because he kept copying my fucking dragons so I couldn't land hits on him or goad him too well. Plus another friend of mine just likes to basically exclusively target me. Except in that last game we teamed up towards the end because we both didn't want the other guy to win 3 duels back to back.>Run more interaction. Learn the key pieces that make the deck work. Read the cards to do so. And then interact with them via whatever ways fit in your own deckSaid angel/vampire deck hasn't premiered yet so I have no idea what to expect. I just know most angels and vampires have flying so he might be an issue again. I was thinking of making this fun looking green/white deck that involves a ton of big monsters and preventing damage to wear him out but I'm not sure that's the answer. The thing is the price range is so much more than what any of us would be used to.
>>94406828>mannerFucking hell, Manor. That wasn't even auto-correct, that was my brain just shoving in the wrong homophone.
>>94406796>TQmkm was fine I guess but the worststory was ok at least since they remembered ravnica is supposed to not be a weird happy utopia
>>94406835I could not imagine being this full of resentment lmao>these people I don't like were wrong so I'm happy now!Why do you worship content creators>i dontThen why do you know what cards they are hyping up and keeping tabs on them? Jesus fucking christ dude get some confidence
>>94406836More expensive cards rarely ever mean ridiculously powerful decks. (Except fast mana like moxes and mana vault) You mention your friend exclusively targets you. Are you actually the biggest threat, or does targeting you really seem like the most sensible option from their perspective?I forgot if your group is all or mostly new players, but in my own experience, threat assessment is something my group struggled with a lot early. Once we got better at that and started running more interaction, our games became noticeably more fun. I could swing my board at the biggest threat and not get the other 2 players hitting me for freebies "Because you're wide open.">No idea what to expect from angels & vampiresDon't go slotting in silver bullets that work only against a specific deck. Just run interaction like usual. Maybe make the interaction a little more flexible. No need to run destroy-target-flying-creature stuff. If the 3 of you can't find a way to beat the angel/vampire deck into submission together, there's bigger things you can work on.You do mention winning once. Analyze what made that possible. Did you interact by removing key pieces yourself? Did you wait for the right moment to take out both other players at the same time? Most obviously, you can only really tell once you play against it, if it's a tough deck to play against. Best of luck anon.
>>94406859>being aware of something is now worshipIt must be difficult to go through life as such a histrionic faggot, incapable of forming a coherent point as your brain succumbs to phytoestrogensThere’s about 500 unique cards in the set. I was interested in knowing what cards to look out for without scrolling 500 cards myself. Dragontimmy card was on multiple top lists for Commander. It is blatantly not very good. An over-costed win-more that doesn’t even give the dragon tokens haste.Pre-release it was at $15, just days after release it’s at $5. Why? Because it’s not very good.I will be smug and there is no amount of seething on your part that can prevent that
>>94406959>being aware of something is worshipSome things yeah. I don't care about mtg content creators and I have no idea what they are saying or thinking because I simply avoid them. You're weak and full of resentment and excuses

I have a jank mono-G deck that has more than once durdled whilst I have 15-30 forests in play because I can't draw my limited draw pieces. I'm considering putting in something like Helix Pinnacle for just such an occasion

Thinking of a new green deck since I lost my Sasaya deck. Something goofy was thinking Gargos voltron, lots of targeted pump spells so he can keep the board clear. Cards like this and dragons guard elite, silverfur partisan and venerated rotpriest, and aeve as backup beaters, couple hydras for value but largely cantrips that target my creatures. Thoughts?
I want to play Traptrix in Magic. How do?
>>94406956>More expensive cards rarely ever mean ridiculously powerful decksThanks for that info. I don't think I'll make a deck specifically counter his angels but I did want to make another deck so I could have more options. So there's 4 of us right. Friend A is the one with the clone deck and soon to be vamp-angel deck. Friend B just likes to target me more often than not because in his eyes I'm the biggest threat to him in terms of skill. I see the same thing on my side of things but I don't exclusively return the aggression before this Friday when I wanted to with my newer more aggressive deck, and because I could due to my creatures all having flying. But because of that I left myself wide open more than a few times which I want to make sure I don't do again. >Did you interact by removing key pieces yourself? Did you wait for the right moment to take out both other players at the same time? We were doing a 3 play commander when I won the game. Friend C had to leave so it was A, B and myself. I won at the end because me and friend B sort of teamed up to prevent friend A from winning his third game of the night. I did end up scooping the win due to an instant that allowed me to recycle it from my graveyard to eliminate one of the dragon's he copied from me. But again I only won because friend B really helped me out.
How you guys feel playing against a theft deck?
>create diversity bait black Aragorn>print an alt that looks like a blaxploitation movie posterwhat did WOTC mean by this
>>94407189This is clearly some 70s hard/prog/psych rock concert poster. Not whatever you think it is
A few threads ago someone offered to share their Thromok list. If you see this post, please share your list.
>>94407105not really but I guess you can find in past generals.
>>94407307I think I'm the one you're referring to. Here's the list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/8Bfp4UMQpk-SYKViDCKvWQThere's some cards from considering that should probably go in (natural order, bane of progress, maybe pattern of rebirth, collective unconscious, rishkar's expertise), but I want to play it a bit more to see what I should swap out. Also, I just grabbed lands I had lying around, it would definitely benefit from more duals (but then ruination should probably be cut).
>>94407180Tranny mechanic. Troons are obsessed with control and theft strategies. I built my deck so I could play with it, keep your manly hands off my cards.
>>94407189Unironically based and cool unlike regular Aragorn
>playing voltron>players keep swinging into me because I'm "open" while ignoring the Meren player because they have a board full of creatures and some of theirs might die if they attack>even remove my commander when he hits the board because I can "win in one turn if I get set up">next round Meren player lethals me and another player and the last player scoopsReally makes me wonder if I'm extremely hateable or if some Voltron player hurt these people in the past.
>>94407462They either don't like you, or are extremely retarded. Rafiq can only kill one person at a time without Extra Turns I believe.
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
>>94407522There's ways to get at least two a turn if you're really bulked up, but the pieces have got to come together nicely.
Will card shops take the plastic shields I got from buying cards online? Seems like a waste to throw them out but I don't have a use for them.
>>94406796>TQMKM is the undisputed biggest dud of 2024. The destruction of Ravnica as a setting, the quiet admittance that no Magic world has integrity or identity, worlds can be flanderized into tropespace at the whim of WotC, Morph can be overwritten into something else. Nothing really matters. As of MKM there is no past, we only exist in an eternal present. Magic is not a series of unique worlds, Magic is not a game with history or integrity, Magic is a product to be exploited with no identity or character of its own.
>>94407893I'm just gonna use my printer* to make any card I want*latest fad gizmo
>>94407462In general EDH players are very risk adverse, which is why they went for free damage on you instead of attacking Meren, especially since Meren generally can bring things back pretty trivially meaning they'd be poorly traiding. However> I can "win in one turn if I get set up"They weren't wrong. It's trivially easy to make Rafiq swing for lethal and become unblockable. They either leave him alone and you kill everyone or they remove your commander which cripples you. It's the main flaw of the Voltron strategy because the outside of removing a few of your enchantments and equipments there's not a way to deal with you in ways that don't completely take you out of the game. You'll either have to run even more protection and interaction or take the deck apart, because this scenario will happen again.

>>94407727>>94404390>>94404170Yes, I hang out with my dad on Saturdays/Sundays and then come home. Watched some college ball on saturday while sorting my booster box from Foundations and eating food, then today me, my mom, and my dad just watched the Bills shut down Kansas City. Shit was cash, out of the games we saw, I predicted (guessed) the outcome of 4/6 of them. I went for the Bears, the Steelers, Bills, Lions, Patriots, and the Vikings. Admittedly, my favorite teams are Steelers, Lions, and Bills so those were the only ones I was invested in.Now that I'm home, I'm gonna be working on a new deck to start filling out a new slot in my roster, Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. Lifegin + Angel tribal, aiming for a bit lower power than a Giada-led deck but she'll be in the 99 since I pulled one from my Foundations box.https://www.archidekt.com/decks/10132693/angels_of_duskThis is the preliminary list of just stuff from my Foundations box + a Whip of Erebos I had laying around in Coram and wasn't really using.I am confirmed retarded for not realizing there was a new thread. I'm most of the way through the first iteration of Liesa by now, feeling out Angels. Not sure where to get more black in the deck etc.
>>94407180No idea if it's good or not, but I just started magic and I pulled Tiny Bones from the pre-release event, so I'm gonna give it a go When I get enough cards to make a proper commander deck.

>>94406796Bloomburrow. I knew MKM was a shitty hairbrained idea from the moment they explained what it was. I had no expectation for it to be good. Bloomburrow was set up to be an all time classic. But in the end it had less playables than MKM or any other mainline set this year. None of the tribal pieces were strong enough to push the Bloomburrow tribes out of the gutter in EDH and none of the mechanics were all that good. Duskmourn, which everybody spent the whole year overlooking for Bloomburrow, was a WAY better set in the end and somehow constructed a more interesting plane.

>>94409266frankly, this is an edh problem, and not a player problem.i find it very suspect when people make a game and create a bunch of rules, and then throw a shitfit when someone follows those rules and makes something they don't like.it would be pretty easy to ban cards with tutor effects from edh. it would be pretty easy to get rid of infinite combos by ruling that "when an effect of series of effects occurs in the same order repeatedly X times, those effects cannot be activated or trigger again this turn" or even just "infinite combos end after the first cycle" or something similar (i'm no rules writer so you can't really hold it against me that these are inelegant and not wholly functional).it would be easy to ban poison, or double the number of counters necessary, or any number of other things. Why do you make chess and say "you can use any pieces you want, even 15 queens, as long as you have 1 king" and then get mad when people use 15 queens?

There is an occurance i have notice maybe not just in MTG but in games in general. Why is there always a group of very loud people who try to make a tryhard competition in casual settings? Like they have competitive games and formats, why bother the people who just wants to play what they like and for relaxed fun? And i have read the counter argument and it's frankly shit. Sure you think winning is fun but we all know there is a different between making a rat and attack vs combo out before anyone has played their 3rd land not that it matters as nobody was prepared with counterspells anyway. Is it all just an egodriven glory hound thing? You need easy wins to fulfill some kind empty life or what is driving these people? Like i don't understand them but i want to.
>>94409823>Coat of Arms but betterI think it's worse because it requires you to already have a big board to do anything and be worth the mana cost. So it's only good if you're already doing well and especially awful after a boardwipe while coat of arms can still buff your creatures as you rebuild. Door of Destinies is probably a better investment unless you play tokens.

>>94410573>>94410598If you aren’t playing Coat of Arms as a finisher, but rather keeping it on board so it can benefit other players incidentally, you are the retard sorry.
>>94410598....rude
>>94410607I mean obviously you don't play it too early or against other tribes that go wider. But that's also that makes the card fun, you have to think and time things a bit rather than just modern design of slamming everything onto the table like a retard because they removed all the feelsbads from the game. Was thinking of dropping in banner of kinship in my raccoon tribal deck.
>>94406796>TQid like to say MKM but that would imply I had any hopes for it at all, so my vote is DSK. There was clearly two totally separate teams working on it because the monsters are genuinely almost all fantastic aesthetically but the second you get to any of the survivors it all goes to shit. That and the story was utter dogshit, but that's par for the course at this point
>>94409797>The standard set didn't contain cards not good for standard>I am offended and appalled The intellectual might of /EDH/ never ceases to amaze
>>94409266Wow i skipped this before I went to bed but I want you to know you're retarded and have bad opinions.
>>94410560It must hurt to wake up this big of a faggot everyday and knowing you can't do anything about it
>>94410624The way you would seek to play coat or banner are 100% identical you fucking pseud nigger
>>94410917Oh coat is also way easier to just mindlessly slam down so you're double retarded kill your fucking self
>>94410917I play Coat of Arms in a control deck that barely runs any creatures because of the synergy with Changelings. Most go-wide players don't want to swing in on me because they want to keep the bonus, and I have fogs even if they do.
>>94410954>i play coat against retards and that allows me to play it in this unique way that 99.99999999999% of coat players aren'tCool? You realize this does not matter at all.
nuts status?
>>94410978It's not 100%, and it matters a LOT because Banner doesn't interact with your opponent's creatures at all and you have to play it after you build up your army instead of before. It's also a static buff, so you're shit out of luck if your opponent kills your creatures in response to you playing it.
>>94408865>schizo headcanonmeanwhile in reality bloomburrow gave us tons of great cards
>>94410910Congrats you're the king of the retard ball pit. Go play a real format loser.
>>94411071Im sorry but I, like a rational adult, see 99.99999% and understand that that is how it is used and that outliers (especially ones that can only arise when playing against retards with a low IQ) have no bearing on reality
>>94411103I do though lol. I play EDH, that's a real format. Do you realize how embarrassing is it to sit in a thread for a game you don't even like?
>>94410560this is why I try to win with worse cards than my opponent. it also reverses the arms race, making more varied decks which is the point of a 100 singleton anyway
>>94411154>anon persists with his larp that is logically self defeatingYou hate to see it, the egos in /edhg/ are scary
>>94411168are you the guy who said my opponents are not worth it if they lose with better cards?
>>94411181That would be the logic that defeats this retardation.>i showed up to a gunfight with a knife and won>so what if my opponents were all invalid it's still impressive! This is what you are (attempting) bragging about anon
>>94411216this is assuming you know who my opponents are. I exclusively play with my friends who all have played longer and are better at the gameI've lost so many times due to plunders which I rarely see from their side but once in a blue moon I when I manage to eke out a victory I actually feel something instead of just stomping over with their FIRE design cards that snowball out of range by themselves if not removed immediately
>>94411261If they are better than they are never losing to worse cards. So again your options are either1. You are beating retards which doesn't make it impressive2. You are only ever winning when they all collectively make massive mistakes again, this is not impressive. You concocted this larp in an attempt to display how good you are at the game without actually thinking about the implications of said larp. Stopped reading after that sentence.
>>94411154>reverses the arms raceThere's no such thing as a reverse arms race in a competition like this. So you beat "better" decks with your worse cards. So what? You think those players are going to say "Oh man, my deck wasn't good enough... I need to put some worse cards in it."No, they're going to step on the gas and power creep upwards.
Wish Gargos had better art choices between his default and the one alt art he has cause both are pretty bleh. Anyways here is my pump spells Gargos deck. Need to cut down to 100 and then I'm gunna probably slot in 3-5 more (read:actual) ramp cards. Cheers yall have a good onehttps://www.archidekt.com/decks/10138624/gargos
>join casualEDH lobby>some dude plays discard>everyone fucks his face>he cries and moans and leaves
>>94411141You make a lot of assumptions anon. There is nothing at stakes though? So why be competitive in the only format that allows for casual play cards? It's like the people who try to be competitive in Super smash bros by turning off all the fun features.
are boros tokens fun with gut, or is rakdos the way for her?
>>94411356>lots of assumptionsNo you made it quite clearly you do not like or respect the format lol>only format that allows...No? You can build a casual deck anywhere lol
>>94411369No i didn't, stop making shit up. No you can't lol....
>>94411292actually, what defeats your larp is the realization that card strength is not the end all be all. You are a bad player so your ego won't allow you to admit skill actually exists which is why you're conveniently ignoring it as a factor in your tirade.A person can be a good player and still lose to a more skilled player who's using a worse deck. Get bent.
the reason mkm and otj were fucking bad arent that they tried to lean into a genre its that they completely failed to include any of the things that make the genre compelling because of a fundamental lack of specific creative vision behind them stuff like "thunder junction has no actual inhabitants" concept doesn't just fail at avoiding the western tropes people don't like, it instantly locks you out of like half of the most basic thematic beats of literally any western, such as "a stranger walking into the bar and mistrustful locals all turning to give them surly looks as the tension starts silently rising." That is like the most iconic western stock scene and you can't even do that in Thunder Junction because there are no 'locals', just Recognizable Magic IP Characters on holiday playing fancy dress
>>94411353why are all discard players like this? and they always make the stupidest argument too>w-well it's to stop your deck from going off b-bro dinos are scary!as if that's somehow justification for turning the game into a snoozefest and then they wonder why everyone hates them
>>94411302oh I should have specified that it happens when the other player realises they lost because they are becoming the target first and the player going under the radar won>>94411292>If they are better then they are never losing to worse cardswell, that's just wrong. ever heard of being the underdog?to both of you, this is usually how it goes>one player about to combo>counters get spent>next player is trying to win on the next turn>removal and other resources get used>while they were fighting each other since I was no threat I can now go ahead and build my shit in peace and interaction is easier to dodge since there is less of it>sometimes this is enough to winit's not that they could have had the choice to keep more removal for me since they would have lost otherwise before and their hand was forced (mine included)sometimes it doesn't matter if you or your cards are a little better than one of your opponent's because there are 2 other players also
>>94407180You will draw tons of hate. Players want to play the cards they cast/ slot into their deck, they dont want you to.
>>94411398The implication of downgrading EDH to "not a real format" is very clearly anon. And most people are not trying to get into tourneys and are more than happy to play more casual decks
>>94411436>these sets are bad because...well I personally don't like them!very compelling argument, anon
>>94411439He tried to convince me to attack the other dudes cause I had like 10 creatures with >the other 2 are gonna kill you if you kill me! Told em to declare blockers>YOU ARE GONNA CRY WHEN THEY BEAT UI mean, I lost but I came in 2nd. I had fun.
>>94411447People treat edh as they do any videogamehalf the fun is breaking the format and getting salty over that is immature because after all it's a casual format right nothing matters? so people should be allowed to fuck shit up with their broken cards cuz it's a clown format anyway right they shouldn't be forced to play low power right?unless...you do actually care about losing which is the real reason why you try to drag everyone down to your level
>>94411459omg the discard retard I used to play with would pull the exact same shit. Everyone would always focus him because he was the biggest politicsfag always whining his decks were weak while being the most annoying faggot at the table
>>94411448MKM is barely a detective story and Thunder Junction fails at literally any western story beat. It's completely possible to tell a good murder mystery set on Ravnica and have that be a good and fun set of MtG cards. what you can't do is be NCIS AND Sherlock Holmes AND Clue AND Tom Clancy AND Agatha Christie AND Dick Tracy AND try something as stupid as 'detective typal'.
>group gave up playing magic (mostly because of edh
>>94407462Wouldn't take it personal, some people just have terrible threat assessment.
>>94411476dang dood, what did you play before?
>>94411471The best part was his stupid commander was a board wipe. He was basically playing stax. And you better believe he had bounces for the retarded ETB.
>>94411448>>94411474Writing a detective story means you need to make me CARE about the crime. fuck, look at the murders. zegana (fine) some new guy they made up (who cares) and teysa karlov (double ultra extra who cares with sugar on top). OH NOOOOO the ghosts magic woman in charge of the ghosts magic guild has been murdered how consequential. like if these are murders make them murders.
>>94411491You sound impossible to please so I'm gunna go out on a limb and say no one should care to cater specifically to you. It's a serviceable detective story
How would you react if a player in your pod sets a timer on his phone at the start of the game and concedes exactly at the 1 hour mark (if the game is still going or he's still alive) every single time you play with him?
>>94411353unless he was playing Tergrid he could have been feeding the graveyard deck with his deck.
>>94411514Based, long games and those that enable/encourage them are unbelievably boring
>>94411365RB if you want an actual sacrifice deckRW if you just want to hit people in the faceRU if you're a stone cold nigga
>>94411482Honestly the decks werent that bad. Non edh constructed is shit now and they didn't like the one ofs fucking their decks over.
>>94411514based, disingenuous retards will reply with>well if you don't like your friends why playwe are playing magic, instead of watching a movie because we want to play magichaving more games of magic and therefore more variety is vastly more entertaining than playing a single game for 4 hours. If everyone collectively agreed to only play 45 minute games all those retards who are like>noooo your deck is broken because you run vampire tutor in your ur dragon deck!would stop complaining, because they'd win more. By pure virtue of playing more than one game a week
>>94411607even pauper? jk, I know it's initiative hell
>>94411514Depends on if i play with slow playing retards or if he is just averse to a long game regardless of reason. I've scooped once or twice before when I noticed we were an hour in and everyone had only had two to three turns
>>94411514Gay, what if we're 5 minutes away from wrapping everything up with a fun and exciting ending and dude just dips out. Would kill the tables energy for the rest of the night, and most likely future games with Clock, Master Of The Hour. Just finish the game
>>94411627having longer games of magic and therefore more quality is vastly more entertaining than playing a many games in 4 hours. If everyone collectively agreed to only play 4 hour games all those retards who are like>noooo your deck is broken because you run stax in your jank deck!would stop complaining, because they'd win meaningfully. By pure virtue of grinding more than one hour a game
>>94411514Depends if he leaves the store afterwords. If the guy only had a set amount of free time I would be fine, but if he is some autistic retard who views more games played better than the quality of each game I wouldn't want to play
>>94411673>and therefore more qualityat least make an effort with your shitposts
the people who cry about games being too short are those same niggas that run out the rope in magic arena trying to figure out what land to play.Just play your cards, bro
>>94411684>you gotta play to win or there is no point>you gotta play fast making a bigger chance of losingso which is it? play fast and lose or play slow and win? pro tip: I don't get to play fast and win
>>94411628>pauper>initiative hellthey banned every initiative creature that was 4 mana or less, only avenging hunter (used in gruul ramp/cascade) and goliath paladin (used in some reanimator/midrange deck) are lefttier 1 is monored and affinity is the second strongest deck
>>94411720play to have funI'm not mad if I lose as long as I manage to do what my deck wants to doedh/commander should not be a tryhard format
>>94411734oh, that's when I stoppedI know this is the wrong thread but what did they do this time for affinity?
>>94411673>My games are better than yours because the guy that's already favored to win cast his eleventh board wipeWatching paint dry takes forever too, that doesn't mean it's entertaining
>>94411679NTA, but the most fun and enjoyable games ive had have been over 2 hours. Having a constantly changing board state, must answer threats, clever use of instants, having your life tick down to the single digits while still having a plan for victory, etc. When all that is happening mutiple times in the same game it leads to a good time, at least IMO and the other players in the game. First thing everyone says after long games like that are "Damn, that was a great game!", and it obvious thats their genuine thoughts on the game. Your results may vary I suppose
>>94411760if you can see losing from a mile away you can always scoop
>>94411777But anon scooping before the game hits the three hour mark is gay
>>94411790But anon winning before the game hits the three hour mark is super gay.
>>94411514Good. I'm tired of people complaining that fast games are bad games. Just because you took 20 minutes to do your turn 3 win doesn't mean it's any better than a 20 second turn 3 win.
>>94411758they printed another affinity card, plus krark-clan shaman can function as a boardwipe with a spell that gives him deathtouch+lifelink for one manadeck still dies to monored which is the boogeyman of the format even after they banned monastery swiftspear last year
>>94411832Will they ever reprint the artifact land? Kinda sucks that pauper is mainly focused around 20 year old commons.
>>94411832>mh3should've guessedall I remember hearing about that set for pauper was some 2 card eldrazi combo. did it now work out?
>>94411840seat of the synod got reprinted in jumpstart foundations iirchopefully they won't make more since mh2 bridges are everything the deck needs>btw I turn my indestructible land into a 3/3 flier, good luck if you don't have anything that can exile
>>94411845sadistic glee combo is still legal but it will probably eat a ban this December
>>94411514If he’s doing that because he’s only got an hour to play and then had to leave for personal life reasons it is what it is. If it was just to try and guilt people into ending the game faster, I’d target him with everything I had to hate him out of the game as quickly as possible and then take my sweet time until the games actual conclusion. That way I can maximize the amount of time he’s sitting there doing nothing.
>>94411505>whodunnit is impossible to identify beforehand>culprit faces zero consequences beyond vaguely losing some money>does nothing with ravnica's central concept (guild conflict) beyond establishing The Azorius 2>basically nobody who died mattered at all and one of them returned like five minutes afterwardhave you ever read a detective story in your life
>>94412051Only one of these points has anything to do with a detective story's quality and even that point isn't relevant. That's not necessary it's a story not necessarily a puzzle
>>94411505It’s really not though. The only plot point of any interest is Zegana getting killed and it’s barely a footnote. But the BIG crazy thing is Teysa getting killed… just to come back as a ghost, say “Uhhhh so THAT just happened”, and go back to doing her job like normal. As a detective story it sucked assAnd the mechanics were largely shit too. Morph with a new coat of paint, suspect and collect evidence were both whatever, and the focus on detective tribal was completely retarded. The only good thing that came out of it was Cases were fun to play with and some have some staying power, but they also put too narrow of a scope on it so they’ll likely never see the light of day again. Should have called them Mysteries so they could have had the same staying power as Saga ended up having
Nonfoil Glissa the Traitor prerelease art printing when?
>>94407050Arcanis, the Omnipotent
>>94412091>detective story>not about a puzzle
>>94412159Collect evidence was pretty good, solved a lot of Delve's problems, but the fact that it has the stupid tropey set-specific name means it's not coming back. It's the same thing with crime, perfectly fine batching mechanic but the dumb name means it's trapped in otj.
>>94412223It doesn't get more old school fantasy wizard than that.
>mfw my timmy ass drops Akromas Memorial on Turn 7 and turns everything to the right
>>94412566>anon is retarded
>>94412585thanks.>turns creatures back blocks?
My friend is building a Raffine deck. While building we have issue with consistency. We do run Curious and stuff like ponder. Any idea what to add?Deck itself is a reanimator + control.
>>94412566Based.I drop this guy whenever I have the chance, even if it has directly caused my own death more often than not.
>>94412973I fucking love this card and keep thinking about where to slot it. Now that I'm trying to throw together a Warriors/Cowards mono-red shitpile, maybe it's timehttps://www.archidekt.com/decks/10137654/winter_warriorshttps://www.archidekt.com/decks/10132693/angels_of_duskBoth of my "new" decklists are finished, now the last thing is to try to figure out a single Grixis/Dimir Commander I find fun enough to keep around to build with a friend.
>>94412939Cheap evasive creatures? 1+2 drops? His ability itself will let you loot into consistency because it's a completely broken card.
>>94413038I like Marvo. Clashing is fun
>>94413129clash with this *unzips cock*
>>94413038Just throw it in any deck you can cheat it out in, preferably by gambling like cascade. That's what I do

>>94413196Not a bad call, maybe I'll find a slot for it in a deck like that>>94413129Marvo seems neat, he was one of the weird ones I considered for sure. What kind of balance of high cost cards do you put in it for optimal clashing?
>>94406831They wanted to make morph better since creatures without any sort of protection have gotten a lot weaker since morph's inception, but instead of making it a base rule that all morphed creatures have ward 2, they decided to make a whole new keyword.

>>94407022Just run all the shit that draws when creatures enter or are cast, if you're constantly getting flooded, the cost of zendikar resurgence won't matter and it'll spread your mana twice as far.
>>94413038Runo is pretty fun, it runs fine with or without the sea monster tribe as well
>>94413313idk if this counts but I rebuilt my morph precon to play against a beginner tomorrow. they have just bulk and are still learning so I wanted something low pow but I feel it's still gonna stomp
I can't decide which sets I want to buy for Black Friday man, I know I know, singles, but it's been so long since I've cracked a box I might go for Foundations or Neon Dynasty and just see what I can get
>>94410292If you can, probably ways to move counters around. Extra combats can be tricky and attacks can be difficult to get safely through depending on the board, so putting ways to give him charge counters before he attacks probably wouldn't hurt. Blink isn't a bad idea, neither are haste enablers like rising of the day.
>>94411086This but unironically. The calamity beasts were all such well designed cards, every single one has been a blast in commander, with the exception of MAYBE Beza, who's better in the 99 unfortunately.

>>94413838Nice etbs and sac outlets. An edict creature gets to trigger twice thats good value

>>94413954Don't forget keeping the board clear with dumb value pieces like Grave Pact, Reaper from the Abyss etc.You just want maximum value from things dying and a lot of guys to dieGut can notably convert treasures into dudes to die as well, so RB treasure aristocrats could be fun (is there already a better commander for this?)
>>94413980tough decision then. I'm lacking both a nice token and an aristocrats deck.
>>94414029>tough decision then. How did Modern Horizons 3 end up as the most disappointing set of 2024?
>>94414064I thought that was MKM
Took a suggestion from /edhg/ and put together a deck to cheat out dragons with Cruelclaw.https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/weasel-into-it/
>>94414095I thought that was OTJ
>>94414103Take out crucible of fire, it's a shit card. Also put in worldfire. If you're hoping to cheat out dragons, put in more shit that helps cruelclaw attack, like stuff that makes him unblockable or unable to be blocked by more than one creature, and take out the cost reducers. Also, haste enablers are good, like rising of the day. Warstorm surge isn't really needed and won't help you come back from an inevitable boardwipe. Some graveyard recursion might be good as well, since you'll probably be putting a lot of dragons in yard.
>it's a card game devolves into making "engines" and players take 1 hour to finish their fucking turn
>>94413129Shame about the colors. He'd be perfect in my Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep deck I keep trying to make work. Pretty good chance to win most clashes with all the beefy creatures in there.
>>94413851I run it in Clavileno. Those 1/1s end up becoming 4/3s because toxic is scary. She fits in with the vampire tribal too.
>>94414307Meant for >>94413838
>>94414104OTJ at least did some cool stuff mechanically, and was overall just "nothing" on flavour. MKM's flavour was actively bad and its mechanics were underwhelming.
Behead those who insult bloomburrow
I kind of wish gift was an evergreen mechanic. Kicker but gives your opponent stuff in return for stronger spells is a great idea.
>trying out new shitty Renari deck at a low power table>some guy just tutors for a Peregrin combo asap>i manage to delay it a turn>the entire table just twiddles thumbs until his next untap and he winsI swear my primary problem with EDH is that if I pack enough interaction to deal with the occasional pubstomper I wind up usually being the bully of the table against actual low powers. I could go play at higher power tables but usually those are just the same cast of commanders that I'm bored of.
>>94414372especially good for commander while not being as oppressive in 1v1
>>94414128Thanks for the suggestions.

>>94414754krenko but jam a ton of redirects so when they try to spot removal him you just obliterate their commander instead

>>94413670Kodama of the West Tree, Jinny G Progress Tyrant, Channel Lands, The Wandering Emperor, it's a pretty decent set for EDH. I just love the flavor of Nezumi and Spirits and Foxes. Plus the Full Art Lands are a Chef's Kiss from me.
>>94413670it was the most popular set in a whilethink bloomburrow either slightly eclipsed it or was around the same
>>94413670Very actually
What are good reasons to play edh over Standard?
>>94414914standard isn't a joke format with eternal rotation you have to go to an lgs forand if you want to play it "officially" you have to pay for the real card
>>94414914100 card decks are more fun to play with than super optimized 60 card decksAlso there's almost ZERO restrictions on card pool compared to Standard rotations which are all focused on meta so card prices are far more competitive there than in EDH where 15 of your key cards are all worth nickels
>>94414626I only took a cursory look through it, looking again i can see you already have some good recursion in there. Reanimate is one I'm surprised isn't there, same with living death. But yeah, take my advice with a grain of salt, ESPECIALLY with worldfire. That's the common meme people run with cruelclaw, and you'll likely get hated off the board, if not the table entirely, if you run it because MLD makes people seethe
>>94414921>standard>not eternal rotationeven if you meant the opposite, edh also has eternal rotation just like modern with it's direct to format sets
>>94414972not if you play with a non-faggy podand I meant "eternal rotation" as in "It rotates eternally" not that it has eternal set legality
>>94414914not really other reason than it's cheaper
>>94414914Easier to find edh games.Easier to find people to play along with your random shitbrews.

>>94415365Here you go bro
>>94414914you can bring a shit deck to a commander night and have lots of funyou cannot bring a shit deck to the majority of other formats
>>94414914EDH is the only multiplayer format, and multiplayer is a lot more fun to play casually than 1v1.
>>94415424You can technically play any format multiplayer, it's just uncommon.
>>94415365speaking of which, is there finally a way to make HD custom cards/proxies with MSE?
>>94415447Free for all used to be very common before EDH, but it's not a proper format like EDH is, and the gap between a deck designed for multiplayer and player using a 1v1 deck in multiplayer was insurmountable.

Someone didn't link the last thread to this thread so when I found this one, I was already behind 120+ posts >:(
>>94415679Nevermind my stupidity
>>94413838put her in a green or white deck and start populating those tokens. Alternatively, run her in a rakdos commander and steal opponents creatures and sacrifice them, exiling them forever also and giving you the creature. You also have a backup in nightmare shepherd.
>>94413670>Neon Dynasty was the set responsible for the card Farewell, the strongest White boardwipe of all time Yes
>>94413670no, because everyone was bothered by the cyberpunk
>>94414862It's still, I think, the best-selling Standard set ever (Foundations will PROBABLY outdo it just from longevity, and maybe Bloomburrow has already but we don't know the numbers).
>>94415931lol
>>94413740what's wrong with the channel lands
>>94415931Not only was it the most popular set since 2010 it was also the highest selling set, and its mechanics and (most) of its world was really well liked.Pretending it's anything but the best in every metric is pure contrarianism.
>>94415972lies. People want fantasy and wizards. Not scifi
>>94416009you got fantasy and wizards in mkm and it was shita topic does not make something inherently good or bad, bloomburrow had fantasy and wizards and was not far behind kamigawa

Which Dimir Commander should I build?
>>94416180marvo can be very powerful or a meme depending on how you build it
I need some better win conditions for this commander. Aetherflux is pretty bad in this deck surprisingly, usually because I'm not storming off that hard
>>94416213triggering once a turn makes this feel so lame to try and use, you have to get a weird mash of cantrips/cheerios and high cost bombs then just pray that you hit the right thing? or do tons of scrying/sensei top effects to stack the top of your library to cast shit for free? 6 mana commander doesn't help much either
>>94416072So...no stats?
>>94416180which one would you take out on a date?
>>94416180>faggottaste/10Whichever one matches your Double Dragon Dildo retard.
>>94416180Grimmy the Timmy
>>94416257Stop trying to fit in
>>94416180
>>94416249>erm, why don't you have WotC's internal sales data?
>>94416270Calling out bad taste isn't an attempt to appeal to other people on this board, stop projecting.
>>94415194>t1+2: mana dorks>t3: drop a grothama>t4: enchant grothama with predatory urge to draw 20And then it just goes off from there. An easy pump interaction is to use Grothama to make a Mossbridge Troll into a 25/25, and then tap and untap him a few times with cheap creature's like Scryb Ranger or Seeker of Skybreak to pump Keldon Battlewagon. Effects like skullspore nexus, which is always going down for 2 mana, make it easy to then double it up into an insane amount of damage. I really should remove Keldon Battlewagon since it's really just a meme, but using it with Ram Through gives me a green version of Fling which I find really funny. Or another route is to play a Vigor, which can pump your entire board by Grothama's power every time they try to fight him. It cascades up from there since every bit of damage prevented to Grothama is pumped into the next creature, so you basically buff Grothama by all the power on your board and the other creatures by his current power when they step up in lineThe main drawback of Grothama is that he's a double-edged sword that everyone is either going to want to exploit or remove from the board, but at 5 mana I don't have much trouble recasting him. There's a few cantrips to keep him safe as well
>>94416314Being needlessly aggressive is.
>>944162316cmc no protection is the worst hurdle but the ability is each turn. So instants and flash effects let's you use it more often
>>94416378I'm sure it can be seen that way, but it doesn't necessitate>trying to fit inI'm sorry you were ostracized before, and that aggression makes you uncomfortable. Have you tried manning up about it?
>>94416440You go first
>play a five colour deck>either I brick like hell, or I'm dominating by round 3is there a way to get more consistency? I'm playing slivers.
>>94416512No basic lands, all dual or tricolor lands onlyHave tons of fetches/land ramp cards
>>94416563I think I have like 1 of each basic land left, all the rest are dual lands or lands that generate anything.
Post your favorite card art
>>94416582I love these cards and they've pushed me to focus more on mill in my Mothman deck. How do I add enough artifacts so I can use the time sieve too?
>>94416619Just look for something that makes clues, food, treasure, junk, or blood tokens.Hell Piper can get you a bunch of clues if she has enough power
>>94416213>>94416231Displacer Kitten and every other card is a non creature
>>94416729Piper was one of the first cuts I made when upgrading. She was too slow, useless if I didn't have her in my opening hand and even then I could never crack the clues because of needing to use counters or removal instead.

What's the secret sauce for him? Just as many unblockables and curiosities as possible?
>>94416785Tireless tracker is the best generic one, but Lonis, Genetics Expert works best with MothmanHavengul Laboratory or fleeting memories might work.Lazav, Wearer of Faces is a two drop that can graveyard hate or get value later, but of course mothman would rather ramp early than play a two drop
I'm baking a new one. We're at page 7 and I want to start some conversations that won't die to thread migration.
>>94416885If you are doing sac things with altar of dementia with Mothman there are a lot of things that make treasures or clues when something dies.Lonis, Genetics Expert and Havengul would be the best as Lonis makes them fast with Mothman while Havengul is a use for the clues if you don't find the extra turn spell
