What would GW need to show for you to be excited by the end of it?
>>94422041My fear is that they'll reveal the girl Custodes always wore clothes when the men stripped
>>94422035These look so much better, I should get some.
>TQInfantry option for knights.
>>94422041My wildest dream would be for some sort of whiff of a hope that World Eaters and Thousand Sons were finally going to get a fleshed out roster similar to Death Guard. My more reasonable hope is that whatever new probably war dog that Chaos Knights are likely getting at least looks cool. My expectation is that we'll see some of the upcoming Krieg and maybe a slightly longer road map.
Just finished a game of Orks vs Tau. Kult of Speed fought the Retaliation cadre, who sported suits, suits, and more suits.Pretty fun game overall. Not much interesting happened but it was against a fond opponent of mine I haven't fought in a while, so we got to do some catching up.
Another day another greytide game
>>94422119The Kult went first and had a strong start, moving up quite a lot and also downing his riptide in the first turn. I almost killed a unit of battle suits with my koptas in the second turn, but they got some really good saves and lived, the gits. His turn 1 was uneventful but his turn 2 was brutal. I lost 3 buggies and these koptas before he even shot my bikes behind the koptas here.
>>94422041>HopesMore than one new Eldar Aspect revealed>DreamsNew Codex roadmap with a lot coming early in the year>FearsJust Krieg stuff and another Emperor's Children vague silhouette
>>94422133Here's the unit shooting the bikes. Lots of flamers with +1 to wound and AP-2. Not a good time for the bikes, which left Speedwagon all alone after this.
>>94422133Oh shit, is that the screaming eagle penis terrain that I see?
>>94422095Grimdark Future by Dakka Dakka
>>94422143Speedwagon then promptly charged the unit, hoping to get some squiggly support. Unfortunately the squigs weren't fast enough with their charge and the Boyz took their spot. They slapped against these suits like wet noodles. After his next turn I'd lost more than half my army with not much power left, but I was soaring ahead of primary points due to him not having any objectives other than his home.>>94422148I have absolutely no clue, but it's a better shot here. >>94422119. It just looks nice to me so I slapped it on the board.
>>94422150It's like night and day compared to the usual electropriests.
>>94422053My fear is that my sons will never understand me.
>>94422162Despite some stormboyz getting an action off and stealing his objective away for a turn by round 4 I had around 4 units on the table (grots, Speedwagon, my Blastajet, and the stormboyz). Here was Speedwagon's final stand against Farsight and a lot of other battlesuits.
>>94422122Time to paint your army.
TQ: I expect all the fake leaks to be right and for the show to contain exactly what we expected and as a result flat
>>94422171Forgot to mention it but Farsight was behind the camera. He was certainly there. Here's the final score. Despite my poor primary score towards the end it was actually the secondaries that lost me the game. I had some absolutely terrible draws on turn 4 and 5 where I really needed the points, and it was thanks to the tau's final draws that he was able to get the points he needed to win.So the Kult lost this game. We'll get em next time. Still a fun game though, the guy is one of my favorite opponents to fight so it was really nice just shooting the shit while we played.
>>94422041I hope we get an iron hands codex and unique models
my stupid absurd 1/100000000 hope: new bike captain for SM and chaos bikers for CSM
Did you guys actually use the photo mode in SM2? I didn’t use it much but it’s grown on me. I’d be interested to see some captures.
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>94422212Yeah, after the iron hands refresh
Finished up these boys tonight. Love how they turned out. Only 2 models left and I finished the whole squad, at long last. How's your week progress going anons? Post models or wips.

>>94422254Yeah I certainly prefer painted armies but I don't complain. Life gets in the way sometimes, especially for the older guys which my store is mostly composed of. I'm lucky enough to have plenty of free time thanks to working a regular 9-5 and my gf spending 90% of her waking hours at work or college. Medical degrees are a bitch. If I want to fight against a fully painted army my choices are pretty much the space wolf player (though they're not 100% done, there's like 3-4 unpainted models), the Tau player's necrons (picrel), or the other Ork player at the store who has his models basecoated, but not fully done.

So far he's killed a Daemon Prince, a Shield Captain and landed the last blow on a Transcendent C'tan. My friends have only debuted their Chapter Masters once, but one killed two Warbosses after his Terminator bodyguard died, and the other led a bladeguard brick to kill a Norn Emissary.

>>94422624He has more of an idea of an idea than a specific idea
>>94422624Creative thinking is an uncommon trait these days. Most people's concept of creative homebrewing amounts to>what if X character from Y franchise was also in Z franchise
Speaking of ideas for chapter masters, I've been cooking ideas for my own and I already have ideas that I plan on actually acting upon next year (I want to finish kill team stuff this year)I'm gonna do a gravis captain with a halberd and extra lights on his power pack with him in the flooded ruins of a space hulk.
>>94422532Honestly, I just might. I fucking hate the British look the guard has, and gas masks are gay. Maybe if catachan gets a refresh I’ll change my mind.
>>94422647>Hate british soldiers from a british game where everyone in space is britishWow you sound like a cock polishing faggot
>>94422624I just can't decide. At one point I thought of a terminator with robes and gold bling, also using a Cataphractii or HH captain. Just wanted to know if you guys had any better ideas.

What is the Kelermorph supposed to be? Is it a single person? Is it Tyranid "genetic memory" making named characters appear on multiple planets? The fluff for Kelermorphs refers to them as plural, but also includes multiple planets with legend of the three-armed gunslinger liberator, which fits more in line with a single person.
>>94422643>I plan on actually acting upon next yearCool but you're not going to go through with anything which makes your post worthless. Come back and let us know when you're actually hobbying instead of just daydreaming about it

>>94422685The second one, as a cult grows, certain archetypes sprout naturally, one of them is "hero of the people gunslinger person".
>>94422685Like any of the specialist cultist members, it's something programmed into the Genestealer cult generational cycles. Fundamentally it's a 3rd generation hybrid, that is how it's born, but eventually it will awaken to the purpose it has within the cult. There may be multiple Kelermorphs in a cult, and they are truly individuals, but very likely they purposefully work to keep up the appearance that there is only one such folk legend to increase its effect on the host populace.
Has anyone tried putting a termie helemt on the leviathan librarian? Is it an easy fit?

Is there any full art work piece of the crone world eldar
>>94422699The IG for some reason decided on having water-cooled stubbers rather than air-cooled. I assume it's to boil tea.

Hey has anyone tried using model train stuff to make terrain?I live in Japan and there's tons of cheap stuff used for model train dioramas and I was thinking making a modern Japanese town terrain board (reverse isekai) might be interesting, but I've never dabbled in train stuff before and there's a bunch of different weirdly labeled scales that I don't understand. Any advice on what scale would match 40K best? It doesn't have to be perfect, just not look too off and be fun for games.
>>94422826Pity, it seems those headshots are cropped from full blanche images.Found this quote about Croneworld Eldar which is new to me, from the 3rd Ork Codex, for anyone interested.>“Although most races in the galaxy have failed to reach the level of spiritual purity of Orks, some of the closest are the Crone World Eldar. And the reason for this is simple: purpose. Much of life is driven by a search for purpose, to find meaning in why we exist. For the Crone Eldar, this question is already answered. They exist to spread the will of their dark gods, whether by word or by sword, and all other needs are secondary. An individual Croneworlder may have their own wants and dreams, their own loves and losses, but ultimately it is this purpose that drive them forward even in their darkest times. Although I find myself abhoring their beliefs and goals, I admire them in their simplicity and purity of purpose.”-- Uthan the Perverse, controversial Craftworld Eldar philosopher
Does Fellhammer run better as an MEQ spam detachment, combined arms, or for heavy armor?Yes, I'm aware I'd be better off running a different detachment.
>>94422858Infantry make the most of the detachment rule and exclusive use of the best strat by far. But they have to survive a combat activation, so really it's Termies
>>94422844I think it's N scale or o scale that works best but dont quote me on that. Like you mentioned, train scales are all impossible to interpret so I'd just go by eye if I was you
>>94422314I know it’s probably just late heresy Alpharius for 30k, but it would be really funny to have 40K Alpharius before Fulgrim.
>>94422192His army was not battle ready
I started painting models at the beginning of the year, and I'm playing my 3rd game tomorrow. Something I've been struggling with is understanding what gameplan a particular faction wants to do. I have a big background in MTG, and it's pretty easy to find a video of someone talking about a deck's game plan and vaguely how it does against certain archetypes. I feel like that is harder to come by in 40k. For example, I've found a channel recently that talks about how he deploys his tyranids, which units he deploys first, and the general gameplan his first 2 turns are trying to follow and how that plan changes depending on what his opponent does. Can I learn how to identify a faction that focuses on control vs aggro vs some sort of midrange from a video somewhere? Is there a channel similar to my example above for admech?

what armies are unfun to play against
>>94423031Anything with high survivability or rules that allow them to bring dead units back. Feels awful wasting your attacks doing nothing or seing your successes overwritten. On the other hand, any army that has a lot of chaff is fun to play against because you always feel like you're actually doing something even if you're losing on points.
>>94423031Knights, 5 ctan, 30 deathwing, eldar, guard artillery spam.

>>94423050>t. never played against plaguebearer conga lines
>>94423031Anything skew.>all vehicle>all c'tan>all super-heavy walker
>>94422779Sucking at something is the first step to being kind of good at something
>>94423039So...Necrons both suck and are fun to play against? They have chaff in the form of scarabs, but they can bring back literally any unit.
>>94423062So anything durable is now "a list I played and didn't like it :("Whine whine whine
>>94422986Even something more vague would be useful to newer players like me. My friend, who got me into the hobby plays Eldar, and he explained that a lot of the time, his goal is to just try and kill his opponent as fast as possible because his units are pretty fragile and come in small numbers but tyranids play more board control with many weaker guys and try to lock you into your starting area. I feel like even that much would at least get me to start understanding fundamentals a little better. In the last game I played, I just rolled dice and shot people. Which is fun and all I suppose, but having a 10 minute video going through things saying, "These guys like to stand back and shoot, watch out for that. These guys will try to lock you out. Don't let them. This faction struggles to kill high defense dudes etc." would be immensely helpful

I'd think a Tyranid hive fleet would be the most dangerous thing that can visit a world.I don't mean some relatively tiny splinter scout fleet of a few billion. I'm talking "successfully besieges a 1st Founding Planet & needs all of Battlefleet Tempestus to destroy" Behemoth size. Are there even any hive fleets left in the galaxy? Tyranids won Octarius and then...sleep?Idk how to defend my OC planet besides "Virus Bomb Reset"
>>94423634Okay
>>94423660have you got the tism?
I've been thinking about getting back to wh. I've been skimming through data sheets, and I would like to have one thing clarified. On model itself, accursed weapon is pretty much power sword or axe, and heavy melee weapon is some kind of two-hand weapon or powerglove?
>>94423662>Idk how to defend my OC planet besides "Virus Bomb Reset"You can't. Even scout fleets will cripple a planet beyond repair. You better hope to Christ you're living on a dormant tomb world if you want the nids to stay away, and that your parties aren't very loud.
>>94423669>only 1/4 models have a redesigned crozius>none of the named character chaplains have a redesigned croziusI don't have the tism but apparently you do lmao
>>94423673An accursed weapon is a weapon that has been cursed. A heavy melee weapon is a melee weapon that is heavy
>>94423680The model is called primaris chaplain you stupid cunt
>Alpharius Omegons spear is backSo Alpharius is dead (probably), so its Omegon returning? He's the secret loyalist so is he going to be the third loyalist primarch to return. Gulliman having to pretend to get along with his twin thats working aganist him to save the Imperium would be funny
>>94423673They are catch alls. A heavy melee can be a 2 handed hammer or axe, a power fist, maybe a big daemon arm or eviscerator. Accursed weapon is usually meant to be a power sword, axe, mace, whip, etc But really they are left deliberately vague enough that as long as you and your opponent can tell what's what, you're free to model them with whatever weapon bits you think fit, within reason
>>94423682I was afraid it was simple as that. New rules seems like... shit.
>>94423683So buy one of the other 7 available chaplains that fit the aesthetic you like you dumb sperg

>>94423691It's simply pointless to be freaking out about a redesign that affects 1/7 updated models. Especially when there is another primaris chaplain with crozius model that has the detail your whining about. You're unironically making a mountain out of a molehill
>>94423695>>94423692Idk, need to check if it plays right. I usually don't like simplification in games, but that's boomer in me speaking.
>>94423646havent seen it in about a week or so but at one point it was as common as the "dunno ask /hhg/" but wip instead. i think goffs are a bit more common outside of this general, although my LGS has no ork players atm so ive got no data on that
>>94423700/40kg/ goes through trends of secondary migrations. It's usually one guy or a couple guys samefagging. Most actual hobbyists welcome seeing models of all sorts because it's cool seeing people take part in the hobbies you do yourself. Also you used to see a lot of goffs out in the wild, but I think the internet has scared a lot of people away from painting black by claiming it's impossible/difficult

Good morning /40kg/It has now been 84 days since GW announced there would be no more codex or model releases this year How is everyone holding up?
Has anyone here ever written any 40k fiction before? I'm writing some (just for fun/inspiration), but i'm struggling to think of actual reasons for any extended campaigns happening without the imperium just blowing things up from orbit. Best i've got is some polar laser bullshit.
>>94423829Uh... honestly Canon shit has problems with that.like 90% of books could be solved with "Literally just carpetbomb them, then invade and clean up the remaining troops".
>>94423829I've got some personal fanfiction I wrote a bit about for fun. The Inquisiton/Admech trying to recover archotech/STC fragments from an Imperial world that has become a daemon world. Its a deamonic ocean world, with the unnatural ocean waters reaching the stratosphere, meaning frozen bits of ice and water with no gravity and then becoming a solid sea of water well above the tallest mountains and increasing mounting pressuare to reach former underground bases. I've thought about moutains being mined to allow to go deeper and avoid the crushing preassure. The worlds former oceans/lakes/ water bodies are all air bubbles, like the air and water all 'switched' due to the warp, impossibly holding up tens of kms of solid water. Because its a deamon world and the warp doesn't have rules. But its of course pitch black in the air bubble former-oceans. Any light draws attention from the deep sea levithans and monthers that live in the impossible oceans.
>>94423835I want to write a desert campaign/long range tank warfare scenario, North Africa campaign style, but that needs logistics for both sides and something to fight over which cant just be nuked. Trying to go with "rebels have southern space laser, imperium has northern one, and fighting is in the middle" bullshit to try and figure it through, but yeah i've noticed that a lot of books just pretend that aircraft and ships dont exist while the main characters do stuff.
>>94423829Inability to establish orbital superiority so the fleet can't position for bombardment. Tons of reasons - it's engaged in active combat with the enemy fleet, supply lines were cut off so the necessary armaments are depleted/being kept in reserve for fleet action, abnormally strong magnetosphere and thick cloud cover laced with exotic metals interfere with targeting augurs, etc. You're supposed to be a writer, think of something.
>>94423829You need to make the world too important to allow destroyed. Note that this can still be very silly reasons as deemed by the administratum. They produce statues of the Emperor to adorn cathedrals. A living saint once stepped foot there. It has an exotic flower a High Lord really likes the smell of. The other planet in the system is actually important and they don't want the Orks/Tyranids/Etc. leaving this battle to go find other prey so the slaughter.ill must continue.
>>94423849Honestly that sounds sort of confusing, if there is water in the stratosphere then that's going to be compacted back down to ice on the surface underneath it's own weight, probably means a 100km thick ice sheet before reaching water.
>>94423853Well, it's important to note that nuking things is bad for settlement. The simplest way to avoid issues with aerial bombardment is have everyone want to settle it or conquer it (or capture, in the case of Deldar)
>>94423829>Has anyone here ever written any 40k fiction before?I've written a short post about a LoTD marine but that's it.
>>94423829I wrote a lot of Deathwatch fanfiction for my campaign group many, many years ago. Never really encountered this problem but I can see how it might come up easily.
>>94423829I have written pages upon pages of small lore tidbits about /mydudes/ just for personal gratification
>>94423854Problem with the fleet engagement thing is that detaching just one frigate from that engagement would be able to end any ground campaign. Irl for example the fighters protect the bombers and each focuses on its thing, if i were an imperial commander i'd just task a few ships with bombardment while the others went to fight, even the low tonnage ships can cause absolute chaos from orbit. I thought opposing polar lasers as a throwaway solution, but i quite like the planet being a desert shithole of middling relevance as it justifies me not having to write about 20 million imperial troops>>94423860Thats not a bad idea. Trying very hard not to ape dune. Was thinking some rare sea slug which was important for rejuve treatments.
>>94422041Hopes:1. Cool devastator-like models for Horus Heresy, as i'm building my CSM army of HH models. 2. Cool new troops models for any faction, not characters, not vehicles, just 5 or 10 dudes of teet3. AoS is closing finally, as it takes too much attention from worthy games, like Wh or KT.Fears:1. They will pompously introduce us to some single new character that will be sold for ±40 euros per model.
>>94423869I guess DW is more commando-raid style and you can break it down into missions without having to justify a campaign, still cool ofc.>>94423872>>94423868Sounds cool.
>>94423829You need to play smaller. The imperial fleet cannot be everywhere and certainly some people in high places will be upset if they level their property because of some minor inconvenience
>>94423873Imperial Navy will not just give their ships over for such base grunt work like planetary bombardment unless they are directly ordered to by crusade command.
>>94423884I mean, most IG regiments have at least 1 ship, All space marines have a small fleet.
>>94423887IG regiments don't have ships. They only ride in them. Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy are two completely separate command structures and Navy heavily looks down upon the guard.
>>94423866Ofc. But referring back to the aim (long range desert warfare), most of it is relatively empty or barren, and even in WW2 neither side cared overly much for settlements as much as resources and infrastructure. However the Imperium has essentially unlimited resources, and vs chaos it absolutely would just blow things up to avoid the threat of chaos taint. I was thinking a planet with a supercontinent (like Pangea), with humid coasts and a massive interior desert, which is where the action takes place. I'm thinking fighting over a series of promethium refineries and pre-imperial ruins (spooky), but even then airpower or orbitals could just bomb the shit out of formations, depots, staging areas, even cities. I guess it has to be an evenly matched air and naval campaign? >>94423884Ok but is that not what SM ships are explicitly for? Like every time they deploy, i always wonder why they dont just bomb it first.
>>94423888Oh yeah, I always forget that. The navy has some of the coolest units too.
>>94423892In that case, Promethium in its raw state is EVEN MORE volatile than in its refined state.Do you want to ruin all that promethium? No! so march down there and shoot the fuckers in the face LIKE A MAN.
>>94423892A SM ship is supporting dozens if not hundreds of deployments at once. It cannot position itself to provide fire support to one particular team. And most issues requiring marine intervention can't be solved with a simple orbital bombardment in the first place (or they would have been already solved that way).
>>94423829You've got the solution, now you just need a problem. Work backwards. They can't bomb the planet because Z. Once they solve Z, then they can bomb the planet. What's stopping them from solving Z by throwing the guard at it? Y. How do we solve Y? With X. How do we get X? With W. So on and so forth, and then just throw in fun complications from there. Here, I'll give you an example:>Agriworld designation: E-I-E-I-*annoyed grunt* has been invaded by tyranids. This is a planet of relatively minor importance, and was set to be bombed from orbit because the administratum decided that the gains outweighed the losses. However, a Ordo Xenos inquisitor realized that this is the last planet where the elusive sneedfish lives, so the fleets are now sitting in orbit waiting for a crew of animal(read: retard) wranglers live and thus must rescue the last sneedfish. However, upon landing, it turns out the sneedfish were a new species of tyranids and so eggs must be captured and the planet firebombed while the civilians can go suck a log. From there, delve into the journey to rescue the sneedfish and develop the characters along the way.
>faction of big sweaty muscular ultra-manly football hooligans>they're not interested in women at allRetcon this gay shit ffs. It's incredibly homoerotic.
>>94423829Whatever they're fighting over is too valuable to risk just blasting from orbit. It's literally that easy. If you want something more complicated - there isn't enough Naval presence in the area due to other conflicts, internal corruption, etc. to mount a large enough offensive to just bomb everything.
Does anyone know what I'd have to use to achieve that beaten copper look and the verdigris?
>>94423864Daemon world anon, when gravity kicks in the rules of reality stop working
>>94423892The planet contains a downed Rogue Trader vessel. It would be a write off, if not for the Writ of trade containing the Emperor's own holy handwriting. This warrant notably has a single flake of His skin attached to the document. To blow it up would be heresy of the highest order, and as such the Navy is not willing to bomb the plabet, forcing the local marine chapter/guard regiment/sisters squad to make landfall.
>>94423917just like the footbal hooligans
>>94423928Look up how to use Nihilakh Oxide, that's what gets you that look.I'd show you my skarbrand and bloodthirster that have that effect on it but i don't have any nuln oil nearby
>>94423931Thats a very good one for justifying not using exterminatus and going on the ground, but surely limited orbital strikes are precise enough to just not hit the ship?.>>94423918Yes but campaigns take place over vast areas and have lots of moving pieces, i'm not talking exterminatius i mean just any use of orbital bombardment against military targets. It seems to me that many campaigns should be quite trivial.>>94423901I guess so, but does that stop them from making strikes in areas which arent promethiummaxxing.>>94423909Thats a good plotline, but i want long ranged desert warfare, and i desperately do not want to copy Dune in any way.
>>94423917>have no sexual organs >just think about war all the timeThey are non-binary anon. Also not having to think about women is based as fuck
>>94423945I've got that and the dirty down verdigris too, I'll try use it this weekend if I get a chance. What copper paint(s) would you use for the basecoat and the shadows / highlights?
>>94423948>i want long ranged desert warfareWarp storm destabilized a system's sun and it's now frying the planet. Convent of sisters is trapped on site as Chaos overruns the world, and the terrain is now inhospitable to most form of vehicles. Being in the sun will fry you in minutes, so the only way to move is in the shade. Chaos cultists can't snipe for shit, but somehow, sisters keep dying from las fusils to the head, and some shapes in the distance seem to be marine shaped. The convent now has only 12 hours to reach the dark side of the planet and get evac or else they're trapped forever. How's that
>>94423954I use Vallejo model color (important) copper with thinned TTC battle mud wash or agrax earthshade then highlights of the base color brightened with your choice of silver. I've heard good things about TTC's metallics but I haven't tried them yet
>>94424002Ok so that's a citadel brass scorpion equivalent, I might have that vmc paint somewhere. I haven't tried that TTC wash yet, is it better than agrax? I haven't tried them either, only have a few TTC paints and they have been pretty good so far

>>94423640I fail to see the issue?
>>94423977Cant really have a full armoured campaign there, kind of want more Tallarn but in the case of Tallarn yes the IW did exterminatus it, but they seemed to just not bomb the imperial formations once they left their bunkers. Your plot is pretty good, it reminds me of one of the Riddick films (where he escapes the prison), but not quite the kind of Imperial Armour theme i'm going for. Also why is chaos overrunning the world if its being fried?

>>94424424Your average autist into 40k or magic pretty much has to have a decent job to play the game, and the games themselves are social games that require constant socialization. Bad behaviours like body odor are pointed out and corrected through peer pressure. /tg/ autists are thus trained into being productive members of society with bare minimum social skills. If your hobby is anime, being a con gremlin is similar since you have to actually make an effort and respect others and not be a creep. A decent paying job and alright social skills plus personal grooming is enough to get a start on things like getting a gf.In contrast, Anime and Video Games are very private hobbies and there's nothing stopping you screaming slurs at the top of your lungs then leaving, or worse, experiencing most forms of human contact through 4chan. This trains an autist to be unpersonable and unreasonable, resulting in a swathe of people with no social skills who are entirely ignored by others in the real world.Fa/tg/uys are trained into being normal members of society.

If you don't engage socially with other players wor the community then there's probably a reason for that.Granted that reason can be perfectly innocuous like a busy work schedule or preferring playing other games with their friends in their limited free time. But we all have met the weird social pariah who comes to the game store once and is super awkward and pissy the whole time and then makes the game miserable and no one wants to play with them ever again. And half the time they are weird under socialized shut-ins to begin with.

>>94424707>Marines have always been one of the armies that tend to have the weakest rules within editionsThis is not entirely accurate. What's actually the case is that MEQ and marines are meta-defining and warp the entire game and all list building around them. It's possible for something in a game to be strong in a vacuum or but due to their impact on the meta-game and list building that they still end up with a low overall winrate because it's SO prevalent that literally every single person playing the game has already pre-emptively factored it in to their own decisions.Since 40k is becoming increasingly similar to tabletop magic the gathering, I'll use that as an example. If in a vacuum Burn is very strong, and anyone without an answer to Burn decks will simply lose, and literally 90% of players either ONLY play Burn, or they have Burn as a secondary deck (because it's impossible to buy any major releases without getting incidental Burn cards), then it's easily possible for Burn to end up with like a 45% winrate even while on paper being strong, because EVERY SINGLE PERSON has accounted for Burn and worked to pre-emptively counter it so every single fucking deck in the tournament includes a ton of lifegain. That doesn't mean burn is bad, it means burn has warped the meta around it such that the Rule 0 of deck building (or list building in 40k) is "Have an answer to Burn." Marines are that to 40k. If you are making ANY list for ANY army, your rule 0 has to be "Can this deal with MEQ?" and if your list can't you just laugh and scrap the entire thing. Because MEQ are meta defining in 40k and the entire game essentially revolves around them. People will call Greentide/conscript spam a "skew list", and will call Vehicle spam an"skew list", but much like a fish not understanding what the ocean is, people fall to comprehend that an entire army of multi-wound models with the 2nd best armor save possible in the game is ALSO a skew list

>>94424804Lol, lmfao. You think that matters?
>>94424755Aah, typical. And then Imperium wonders why the populations rebel.
>>94424811>Is the build fun?yes
>>94424811It's a classic for a reason. Most parts go together very easily and most of the bits needn't even be magnetized, the pegs for the arms are enough. Stormbolter/heavy flamer are kinda tricky to magnetize, but who in their right mind ever uses the stormbolter?
>>94424811You can just not attach the arms with glue and swap em out.
>>94424810>marines aren't actually bad>fucking dark eldar of all things are beating them in 10thYeah, I don't think so.
>>94424707you dumb faggot people were not playing crusader spam marinetide with a higher model count than fucking Orks because it was "cool", they were playing it because it had a 60% winrate and could flood the board with disgustingly cheap 2W bodies with high OC to win on scoring since most armies couldn't chew through that many wounds to contest objectives.and no, "higher model count than Orks" is not an exaggeration of pre nerf BT lists
>>94424839Where have you been? Dark Eldar have been monsters of the meta for the last several months.
>>94424839>>fucking dark eldar of all things are beating them in 10thThis is kind of a nonsequitur. DE were so garbage GW had to emergency release Skysplinter as a bandaid fix Detachment released ahead of the codex, and DE transports and units like mandrakes are good at scoring the current mission pack. Anyone making a DE list still factors in "how do I kill MEQ?" as a Rule 0 consideration. In fact, the Voidraven is genuinely the only Aircraft in the game regularly taken and considered good across all armies in the game, and that's specifically because of its effectiveness at clearing out MEQ bodies with Dark Scythes. If Guardsman statlines were as prolific and dominant as MEQ are you'd never take Voidravens
>>94424838>>94424828So this tells me a simple drilling and magnets will go on very easy
>>94424846It's been such a weird thing in 10th just how much they've dropped the points for certain things, but marine bodies especially. I think crusaders at their lowest was something like 10 for 125? Before Pariah Nexus, Jump Pack Intercessors were CHEAPER than Zephyrim, and even now they're just 5 points more per 5. Both units have comparable damage output (JPI are probably ahead thanks to the PF), but JPI are T4 with 2W apiece as opposed to T3 1W for Zephyrim. Madness.
>>94424688>>Surely [Marines winning] is bad for business?Surely fudging the dice and cheating is bad for business?FTFY

>>94422968Oh hey, I'm pretty sure you go to my store. Small world anon and great looking lictor.
>>94425019The reasoning is that it's your highest duty to make sure your innocence is beyond questioning. Even if ultimately innocent your words, actions, associations, past, etc. gave them enough reason to suspect you of being guilty of something (and they may not even know of what, exactly). So you're either guilty and must be punished for your crime, or you're innocent and must be punished for wasting their time and effort.

>>94425040I'm in the uk so it's a bit different.
>>94424897I honestly don't think that's the case. I think it's because there are two design teams at GW that split the work, but they don't communicate and have entirely different ideas as to how balance should be done so certain armies get insane rules and are strong as hell while others get gutted. GW then doesn't want to change too much of the printed rules, so they tweak points, which leads to weaker armies going stupidly cheap. GSC/Sisters are the most recent example of this. Sisters get shit like Morvenn Vahl and her buddies, a unit with +1 to and wound AND full re-rolls while GSC get their damage cut by 60%. And then points have to follow.

>>94425075The same thing happened to ad mech where they got turned into a hilariously expensive horde army for no reason. This shit killed fantasy years back at my LGS because people weren't up to the task of buying stupid massive hordes for their army just to make it to a regular 2000 point game.
>>94425049Again not my fault. They decided they wanted to waste their time on me when I've done nothing.Them having "enough of a reason" to suspect me is just they came up with a bullshit excuse so they could arrest me, which then shows I have done nothing wrong and they wasted their own time by their own volition and actions.

>>94425040I've managed to find some really good deals (albeit being painted terribly with mold lines still on them) but those deals are hard to come by and are usually gone within minutes of being posted. The resellers are a pain, they sell shit like you described for maybe 30% off gw prices, which it's just better to buy from some online store that does 25% off. As much as I like a good deal stripping some of these minis is a fucking nightmare
How do I expand a dark eldar army beyond the combat patrol plus mandrakes?
>>94425561Depends how you want to run it. Do you like all three parts of the army (Kabals, Wych Cults, Covens)? If so, then getting the battleline units and leader character for each is a start. You can always use more transports, especially Venoms. Cronos and Scourges are always good to have a couple of too. There are some resin units that are competitive right now (Beastmaster and Court of the Archon) but they are out of production I wouldn't recommend trying to get them or even lot ash a proxy because they might be gone when the codex comes out next year.
>>94424432It's why its so bad.
>>94424971How was that stupid? WH End Times was the most profitable that IP ever was, and led to the creation of an even more profitable IP. What would've been retarded was killing the cashcow by trying the same in 40k, which is why they backtracked on that.
