>>94423952>What is the best army book, of any edition? In terms of art, lore, mechanics, etc, which one just fucking nailed it?6e Bret without a doubt.
>>94423959They’re also the best army currently, brets are disgusting. There’s cheese lists for other armies but brets have the most cheese
>>94423952>TQ6th ed Emipre, VC, WE, Bretonnia.
>>94423965I was gonna insert a lame pun about Brets, France and cheese but I wont. What I like about Bretonnia though is that theyre unforgivingly cliche. Maidens, knights, castles, virtue, etc. Theres basically nothing original about them and they fully embrace that. It ends up being weirdly unique.
>>94423965Brets aren't best in 6th and have nothing of TOW wankery. It was just a well written and balanced army book, both internally and eternally.
>>94423986>eternallyexternally
>>94423986>none of TOW wankeryHave you played against the green knight and kitted up dukes?
>>94423999I'm saying TOW Bretonnia is broken anon. In an op way.
>>94423952>TQSome books nailed it just right: 6ed Bretonnia & VC, 7ed Empire.I like Tamurkhan just for how unique it is.
>>94424060>7ed EmpireWhy
>>94424087Some of its pics (both the model showcase & other art) are simply better; like picrel which shows the regimental colour (and which is further expanded in Uniforms & Heraldry of the Empire).
If you were doing some empire troops dedicated to the Sea God Manaan - as if they worked specifically as a bodyguard for his priesthood - what colours would you use?
>>94423978>I was gonna insert a lame pun about Brets, France and cheese but I wontYou are a coward like the French.
>>94424170Go from Ocean Blue to Seafoam Green, and everything in between.
What do you think bros? I'm not entirely happy with the horns or the decorative bit on the sword, I'm also questioning my glossy black choice for the armour but otherwise very happy with one of my first fantasy models.
>>94423978>Theres basically nothing original about them and they fully embrace that. It ends up being weirdly unique. In a world where everyone is weird and quirky, the average guy stands out.
>>94423952the 8th ed TK book had really great art and they may as well have written a new faction it was such a glow-up. Shame the rules were criminally weak though.
>>94423978Knights mastering their martial prowess, completing chivalric quests, and being blessed by their goddess with the power to defend their idyllic fairy tale land against countless forms of monster is an all around great premise. Even GW had to try extra hard to fuck it up.
>>94424142Ah ok. Yeah, that was handy and some art was nice imdeed though I hate 7e Empire army book, literally a giant backwards step from 6th edition. Worst book of the era unfortunately.
>>94424335>against countless forms of monster is an allWait why are you talking about the Empire/Ulthuan/Karaz Ankor?
>>94424170Knights of Manaan have green tinted armour with nautical motifs.
>>94424170instead of going with the colours of seawater itself I'd go for the ones of cliffs and rocky hurdles near the coastideally the austere atmosphere, of not motif, of a lighthouse
>>94424246I love it! Glossy black is always a great choice for chaos warriors. The gold is nice, although I think you should layer it up 1 shade brighter to really make it pop. The scratchy weathering effect on the shield looks really cool too. As for the horns, if you're feeling up to it, you can make them look a lot better by painting small lines of a lighter bone colour from the base to the tip, leaving a little gap between them. It'll make it look like the horn has striations, which will look very realistic. Alternatively, you could try blending and glazing, but painting lines is way easier. Overall, I think your first chaos warrior looks great, anon! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your warband. Soon enough, you'll have mighty regiments of your own.
>>94424351>Worst book of the era unfortunatelyWhy is that? Just curious
How bad are Ogres in TOW?
>>94424935pretty bad
>>94424941Mind elaborating? Im tempted to start Ogres but I havent heard a lot about them. Im happy to play 6th/8th too but the LGS is only playing TOW (for now at least)
>>94424935mid tier but with some very good but expensive units like mournfang cav and the stonetusk.
Got my order from Titan-Forge, two more wizards and a mercenary captain plus that thing I'm going to convert into Simurgh. >>94424246Imo glossy armour works well with the whole model. If you are questioning it make another model without glossy armour and go from there. Either way keep up that standard you have a beautiful army. Also don't neglect on bases!
>>94424335They managed, seeing as stormcast are basically grail knights
>>94425164Are those models sold as STLs anywhere or physical only? They're breddy good
>>94425093>tfw can't use my fucking rhinox crushers because they removed them from the game with their legacy pdfAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>>94425190how would they be different from mournfangs? they're both ogre cavalry with impact hits.
>>94425182I have only found those on their website and I think they sell physical copies only. they are operating in Poland.
>>94425197You make them tankier This is like asking why have silver helms and dragon princes
>>94424935Some cool units but you aren’t nearly as tough or damaging as you’d think paying that many points per model. Ogres entire thing this edition is pretty much ignoring stepup with high wound counts.I’m sorry to say that most of our cool stuff bar mournfangs and gorgers are overcosted for what they do only because you have 3 wounds. Also you have 2 war machines that you don’t fire because losing 180pts to misfires is brutal
>>94425197Rhinox are bigger and the riders are better. They're essentially maneaters on cavalry that are as good as a chariot. I want them back and not just as shitty mournfang
>>94425223silver helms and dragon princes have different roles, fluff, aesthetics, and availability.both mournfangs and rhinox riders are just an ogre mounted on a beast with tusks/horns.lets say mournfangs weren't part of the army pdf, but rhinox riders were, and just so happened to have the same exact stats as mournfangs do now, would you even have a problem?
>>94424952They're infantry in a Monster/Cav editionBut if you bring their Monster/Cav units, you're fine4 Mournfang with the shield/weapon things put out like 27 attacks + impact hits>>94425164Can you link that bird dragon thing? Or share some more angles?>>94425264Homebrew them? Depends on your group but people have been churning out some stuff in my group
>>94425190Chances are that aos is keeping the 8th edition ogre kits while updating the 6th ed ones, leaving them to be up for grabs for TOW, so TOW2.0 would end up getting back the roster of models they had back in 6th edition plus the forgeworld models for them (the rhinox)unless the rhinox kit suffered a similar fate as the chaos mammoth and emperor galrauch
>>94425093>>94425243Thanks for the insight anons. >>94425300Damm, thats a pity. The thing I like about Ogres is their infantry. I guess I could just collect anyways, Im not into sweaty WAAC shit. As long as theyre not totally broken I dont think Ill mind too much

the WFRP4e starter set is back in stock for those that are interested
>>94424335Stop your jerking off you anon
>>94425190the old rules still exist and should adapt just fine to the current rules. use those.
>>94425330Ogres can whether the charge if start passing out Regens and Wards. Keep in mind your enemy has to do 3 unsaved wounds to hurt your fight back

>>94426526>Youtube autoplaysure, anon, sure, it was autoplay
Am I stupid, or are daemon princes immune to the effects of the dragon slaying sword? Monstrous infantry technically isn't a monstrous creature or a behemoth, and the dragon slaying sword only works on monstrous creatures and behemoths specifically. Although, that would mean that the Killing Blow rule would work on them. Interesting! Is that why competitive players are running flying daemon princes now? I remember people saying that daemon princes were really bad when TOW first came out. I've been looking for an excuse to get an old-school daemon prince or a greater daemon (probably a keeper of secrets or a lord of change, maybe a GUO) as a fun project and a break from painting several regiments of warriors in a row but now it'd just look like I'm meta-chasing. Maybe I'll hold off on that and just paint some extra chaos sorcerers instead. On a completely unrelated note, man the RoC-era keeper of secrets is cool. He's so much better than the other greater daemon models of the time. Of the 6th ed era greater daemon models, the lord of change is by far the coolest, but I'm also partial to the 6th ed keeper of secrets and great unclean one too.
>>94426526Could be worse, you could have stumbled upon a video of Andy Law bitching about warhammer being racist, sexist and overall problematic
>>94426593Yes that's how it works, and I guess they're bad because 200 points for 4w and basically no armour is risky as fuck
>>94426526Post those videos. Let's see if you're a raging schizo or if you actually say the truth

>>94426651>I like those videos, it makes me chuckle whenever he says elves are eternal teenagers.Your life must be really sad

>>94426663>culture appropriationI wonder why this phrase even made it into english language. In context that's most often used it makes no sense whatsoever.
>>94426663His audience are rpg "players" what do you expect
>>94426629I don't think a 6+/4++/5+++ is that risky... but I see your point. From what I've observed, people are giving their daemon princes the armour of silvered steel to get that 6+ to a 3+ that can't be modified. 3+/4++/6++ at WS7 T5 (6 if the DP has the mark of nurgle and casts fleshy abundance) doesn't seem that weak. And it even flies! A DP of nurgle with wings, 2 levels of wizardry, battle magic, the armour of silvered steel and the giant blade comes out to 375 points... That seems useful! It's obviously not going to replace the chaos lord on a dragon, but a lot of people seem to be running something similar now. I thought it was to get around the anti-dragon bretonnia lists, but maybe I'm wrong.
>>94426771A guy in my group uses him because the DLord can be annoyingIt's a deadly little missile and not nearly as oppressive
>>94426771>armour of silvered steel to get that 6+ to a 3+ that can't be modifiedWhat? Does AOSS work that was?
>>94423952Are Ogres good in 6th?
>>94426946I hope he means that it can't be increased any better, because you can't go to a 2+ for instanceYou still suffer AP
>>94426946My bad, I was confusing it with the armour of meteoric iron. The armour of silvered steel just gives you a 3+ that can't be improved. Still though, 3+/4++/5++ on a model with W4 and T5 (6 with fleshy abundance) is pretty nice. It's an interesting option! You could even make your DP a level 4 wizard if you wanted to, so you'd be able to have 3 level 4s in a 2000 point list... That's kinda dumb! As the other anon said, a dragonlord can be too much, so a daemon prince would be more fun for everyone involved. Now I really want to paint one!

Andy Law is foundational to Warhammer and the tabletop hobby in general. What have you created that is remotely as popular or successful or inspirational as his most mediocre work?
>>94427267You are unrelated to WH and this thread.
>>94427239what whfb "content creators"?
>>94427298>Andy Law is foundational to Warhammer and the tabletop hobby in general.in what way? he only started official work for WFRP in the mid-2000s (with pic is related to, it's a nice map) and I don't think ever worked on WFB contenthis biggest claim to fame outside of Map(which are nice) is a poorly structured and formatted core rulebook to 4e that most people was re-edited with better rules to core mechanics like Casting or Advantage
I for one always thought that wfrp people should have their own thread.
>>94427337there is no point, the thread would die within a week, and they don't derail WFB/TOW discussion to make it annoying or cu,bearing to ignore WFRP discussion
>>94427337I say we have different threads for different regions of the warhammer world
>>94427292The empire is based on the holy roman empire which encompassed areas in modern Italy, Poland, Czechia, Slovenia, etc. All of these areas have a pretty wide variety of european phenotypes. I need help. Who here plays the Warhammer RPG?
My history professor invited me to play Warhammer after the semester and I was inspired to do some painting on my Bretonnians. I'm pretty proud of this damsel.I almost gave up on finding anyone to play with...
>>94429230Is that your one question?
>>94429467No, my question is about experience. I understand that every starting class has different marked stats, different possible skills you can learn and level up, and advancement, but I don't understand how levelling works. It's not 1XP -> +1 to a stat, correct? Also what do levelling up do, beside unlock new skills ot learn and get you higher in the social ladder?
Do you guys think Mordheim has a great big London Bridge, with a whole neighborhood on it?I think it might be a nice mega sized piece of terrain you can use as a whole Mordheim table, or at least as a part of the table, and would be more lore accurate than the shallow canals people seem to make. Also would be a fun project trying to figure out how to build half timber houses on top of archways.
>>94429932Yes, actually. See the bottom of picrel
>>94430000Yeah, exactly what I was thinking of, remembered seeing it on that map.Make it 1 or 1.5 feet wide and 4 feet long and really tall, and you wouldn't need a table save for the water going through. Hell, would be a Jae dropping center piece for a Fantasy Battle proper board.
>>94429484Which edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (WFRP) are you playing? (1e, 2e, 4e acceptable answers)
>>94430264Fourth, revised. What's wrong with 3?

>>94430405Yeah, but I don't understand it. That's the problem.
>>94430415Your first five advances each cost the amount from the 0-5 row. (should be 1-5)Then your next five advances each cost the amount from the 6-10 row.Etc.Follow the skill column when paying for skills and characteristics column when paying for characteristics.>Career Characteristics>Look to the Advance Scheme and find the three Characteristics marked "+" [...] You can allocate a total of 5 Advances across these Characteristics>Species Skills and Talents>Each Species has a variety of Skills and Talents to choose from. You may choose 3 Skills to gain 5 Advances each, and 3 Skills to gain 3 Advances each.>Career Skills and Talents>Allocate 40 Advances to your eight starting Skills, with no more than 10 Advances allocated to any single Skill at this stage. These all count as advances, and stack. So if you have 13 advances in Consume Alcohol before you start paying xp, the first time you buy an advance in Consume Alcohol, you look at how much your 14th advance costs not your 1st advance. Ditto if you put 5 advances into Toughness - next advance will be your 6th.
>>94430630>Your first five advances each cost the amount from the 0-5 row. (should be 1-5)>Then your next five advances each cost the amount from the 6-10 row.Oooh, okay. So if I make a human, roll a strength of 15, and decide to raise it to 17, I pay 50 XP, and not 90. Thank you, because paying 50 XP to get +1 to a stat by accepting Tzeentch's rule made it felt unworthy, better to reroll.I'm a bit confused by the terminology, but it comes from the fact I'm still learning Warhammer's words. I think I get it.Meaning that, shit, you're pretty much locked into your career and can't really level up social if you play a duellist, correct? Or can you still advance stats that aren't marked?
>>944306571. You can always buy up any skill or characteristic not available in your career at 2x cost.2. You have access to your current and previous career rank skills (and characteristics) at 1x cost.3. You only have access to your current career rank's talents.4. You get 1-3 downtime endeavours (1 per week of downtime, max 3) that can be used to reduce the cost of learning skills and characteristics (Training endeavour) or learn talents you don't have access to. (Unusual Learning endeavour)
>>94430842Changing career / advancing to a new rank is also a bit complicated. The base cost is 100xp. This assumes you have 1 talent and X advances in skills and characteristics from your current rank (X is that career rank x5).If you're leaving early, that's +100xp.With GM permission you can skip 1-2 career ranks, using the same above costs. Note this means you don't get to purchase talents from career ranks you skip. You can also change career entirely, switching to any career's first rank. (same costs)After you complete a career rank, you may be allowed to switch to any career within the same class, at the same rank. (ie; switching from Duellist to Envoy)Then there's the Change Career endeavour, which effectively reduces the cost of changing career by 100xp.
>>94430842I haven't read anything related to "downtime" yet, I'm still trying to learn the very basics, like how to roll and so on.>Then there's the Change Career endeavour, which effectively reduces the cost of changing career by 100xp.Wait, so you can change career for free, if you do it early? Won't it be really weird if a rat catcher change career to become a militia recruit?
