They put 40k on life support for 6 months while forcing stores to buy their shitty Age of Smegma boxes.
>>
>>94652402
Tough to say really, I think the Scrin might have the edge in the long run because Tiberium tends to push out organic life, and while Tyranids can easily evolve resistance to the toxicity, we haven't really heard of them eating rocks. But C&C is a little removed from modern reference points by the time the Scrin arrive, and Genestealers are famous for tearing open armor designed to withstand plasma. It's entirely possible that the Nids are stronger and tougher than anything the Scrin have ever imagined and devour them all in a solar day
>>
>>94652810
GW has had really rough supply chain issues for the better part of a year now and many stores are not getting their allocated two minimum copies of each new release. You already have to jump through hoops to get on the GW supplier list (required to carry the whole paint and hobby line of products and such and mandatory minimum box counts on orders) so smaller store get really fed up when they already have to carry a bunch of useless stock to get the premium stuff and then don't always get the premium stuff anyways

Friends, this Exocrine is the coolest fucking model ever, but I gotta ask- is this one of those "drill your barrels" instances? I thought I wouldn't have to worry about that with Tyranids, but the cannon definitely doesn't match the assembly picture.
>>

Bad communication and supply issues. The former because they're giving canned answers to rightfully concerned store managers. The latter who knows.
>>
>>94652878
the Tau since they don't offer anything new or even fun, like the Orks may be comic relief but at the very least they have over the top fun ideas for weapons and combat vehicles, which is a shame since I like how "nerdy" and science based the Tau are but anything they can do a Necron or Eldar can do far better
>>
>>94652921
Are you thinking about ditching them too or do they still bring in customers?
>>
>>94652810
Everyone has said it, but it really is stocking issues. The fucking Warhammer store itself out here couldn't get a single thing for WD500 and struggled to get a lot of stuff up until it closed like a week ago. Even stuff like the new BA box was a mystery which hurt sales.

>WD500 Grom model is announced and goes up for pre-order

>>
>>94652957
if they managed to grow without speedrunning it into their demise like most of the other factions that tried to prosper, then yeah.

>>
>>94652946
I'm not entirely confident in my ability to paint an anus cannon, to be frank. Perhaps I'll look into a Dremel
>>
>>94652968
On paper they have a pretty decent shot since they are not very vulnerable to chaos. They have gotten past the hardest part already desu
>>
>>94652968
They kinda have to fill that role because no other faction in the game represents a rising empire. The Imperium is dying, the Necrons are awakening but also dying, the Eldar are dying, if Chaos wins they also all die, the Orks are a shadow of their former glory and there's no indication they'll ever return to their peak, the Tyranids are too feral to even count as an empire.

The Tau are needed because without them, the galaxy feels empty, as if the Imperium had managed to actually exterminate all the aliens save for the main factions, but we know that isn't true.

I mean, here's the thing: Being a fanatical religious zealot that wants to kill everyone who thinks slightly differently from you isn't very relatable.

The Imperial Guard does a good job of being threatening. They're nigh infinite in number, their lives are worth less than the bullets used to kill them, and they'll never stop coming in disposable meatwaves until you and your families are all dead. But relatable? Not very relatable for most people.

I would squad Custodes and Votann. I think Custodians should be walking plot devices rather than roided up statlines and Votann are incredibly uninteresting and don't interact with the setting at large. You can argue that Eldar don't do that either but Eldar are a much older faction and were going to matter a lot more before the Ynnari plotline was abandoned (Because every character in it was unlikable)

To a degree, they are becoming stronger, it's just very subtle.

For example, the Tau have gone from the "Oh my GOD I can't BELIEVE Titans are REAL!?" faction to casually mass-producing anti-Titan mechs. Likewise, they've gone from the "Holy shit your ONE HIVE WORLD has more population than my ENTIRE SYSTEM!" empire to having their own ecumenopolises with planets in the trillions and even taking hive worlds and forge worlds from the Imperium. Likewise, they went from having merchant ships that were moderately equipped for warfare as well, to having dedicated military ships that were totally dedicated to combat.

Obviously they're not a peer power with any of the major factions yet, but we are seeing growth at least. We're even seeing reports of stalemates with the Imperium where the Imperium is stated to be taking casualties in the trillions in a grinding war of attrition. If nothing else, that's no small feat.

Votann
Space Wolves
Custodes

In that order of priority.

Votann could go and almost nobody would even care. A total fumble of the concept that's already made some bad missteps in what negligible amount of lore there is, that I don't trust GW to repair, plus models that are utterly nothing.
Wolves are just the worst of the murine chapters that people pretend deserve to be more than a pallet swap. They do have some cool bits for conversion purposes, so they go above votann.
Custards shouldn't be an army and I really don't like how wide the proportions are, but having custodes bits is kinda cool. Should have stayed a single unit to ally in with other armies.

Dumb lore question. What happens to the souls of the average citizens of the Imperium? Not great warriors, or extremely pious zealots, living saints, and priests. Just the average person who lives on an Imperial world, not stepping out of line, they don't even know what a daemon actually is. They've never heard of Chaos. They just pray to the Emperor, go to church, go to work, raise a family, die.

unless protected in some way, souls go adrift in the realm of chaos where they either dissolve back into infinite formless warpstuff (especially if they don't have a strong enough soul to maintain a semblance of coherence), get hunted down and preyed upon by lesser demons (screamers are particularly ravenous), they end up wandering into/forming an afterlife of sort where they linger as ghosts, or if their soul harboured a particularly strong characteristic/emotion/will they lose the rest of their individuality and humanity and start floating together other souls with affine characteristics in huge vortexes of warpstuff, souls and emotions, those vortexes are the underlying nature of the chaos gods

Custodes next because they're un-balancable, without hyperbole. Knights at least can get checked with good anti-tank and smart terrain placement but I've never seen a state in an edition where the gold boys aren't at the top or bottom of the tier lists due to their hyper-elite nature.
Daemons because shoving the god-specific shit to the cult legions would solve their limited-units issues, add fluff out the ass for the cult legion codices, we can finally get rid of the ass-ugly soul grinder, and the HH team can stop doing masters-degree-level calculations to find a way to put it in their game. Anyone seriously playing undivided is a powergaming twerp or Word Bearer fag anyway, neither of which deserve nice things.

Most Drukhari aren't actually that bad compared to Asdrubael "Might as well be a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh" Vect. As long as they stay in the webway they can subsist for decades on just going to the collosseum and watching the BDSM babes torture people for a few hours. That's not to say that they don't survive on pain and all that, but rather that they're more interested in having cool toys, killing eachother, or flying really fast than they are in creatively skinning orphans alive. They're not really more deleterious to humanity as a whole on the day to day than the average Space Marine chapter is. The problem is that Eldar can live, theoretically, forever, so "felt nice cuddling with a puppy for an hour or two" is a drop in the bucket compared to the number of babies that they have to skin inbetween coming out of the clone-vat and getting shivved in an alley 2,000 years later.

They get blown to smithereens in the warp and form the basic "matter" of it. The useful bits get dredged up and used for daemons, daemon weapons, or the landscape, or what have you. This is part of why the current state of 40k is the end-state of Chaos, because the overwhelmingly vast majority of human souls just crumble into warpstuff instead of getting eaten by the Emperor. Chaos was far, far weaker before Humanity became the dominant species.

Can any chaosfags help sell me on the faction? It's funny because I genuinely love Chaos in TOW, they feel like a genuine threat and have a lot of menace, plus the warrior design is about as iconic as you can get. Chaos in 40k just feels like it's shoehorned in and written to be a threat because it's what the writes want to portray. I think it might just be a problem of scale when comparing the two factions. I followed some tutorials, basically boiled down to
>Pure black coat
>Start by speckling the area with pure white dots. Use the brush and load it up with watered down white and then just flick it. Depending how you angle, how hard, you get different star sizes.
>Then start stippling with your chosen color but dark, for example lets go with purple.
>Stipple dark purple in "cloudy" shapes
>Then I used a similar contrast paint over the area, sort of filtering down the clouds into the background
>Restipple with dark purple
>Then with a light purple
>You then repeat this part with all the colors you want (Like I chose all of them)
>When youre satisfied you speckle white over everything again
>And optionally you can go in to "draw" stars to make some colors pop more.
>The final touch is to paint ardcoat over everything to make it all glossy.

Goodluck anon.

just discovered full on kitbashing and am absolutely obsessed. i wanted to make my own chosen so i bought the hh marines which gave me 20 bodies and i just used a bunch of random bits i've gathered and it is the most satisfying thing i've done in the hobby yet. it's even more fun when you have to get creative or do things like rummage through vehicle sprues to find turret dude faces, or plasma coil bits to chop into a combi weapon.. this dude is my favorite of the bunch so far. he's screaming and shooting his guns like a mad man.

trying to talk myself into a helbrute

>>
>>94654225
Armies I like aesthetically are orks, admech, guard, nids, death guard, thousand sons
Ones I don't like are necrons (they all look exactly the same), eldar (like the vehicles, hate the infantry), basic marines (too much of a single color tide), knights (I like their designs but they look dumb as a standalone army with no other troops), sisters (ugly faces and too many BDSM gimps), votann
Is this going to be a problem

The captain of the first company and the current Reclusiarch did a 50 year stint in the deathwatch together a when they were much younger battlebrothers. My chapter doesn’t view being seconded to the deathwatch as a great honour. They kill aliens just fine out on the frontier and they’re few enough as it is without sending off marines to die for the inquisition. Separation from the rest of the chapter is even more painful since many marines are literally family members as new marines are often adopted into their mentor brother’s family and marine’s are allowed to retain ties to old loved ones and even visit them when (rarely) possible. Deathwatch service is often used as a punishment and way to refocus wayward marines. Typically a chaplain or judiciar is sent along to keep an eye on the marines and make sure they’ve learned their lesson and centered themselves before returning to chapter. The 1st company captain’s failing was misappropriating chapter resources to interfere with domestic politics on the chapter’s homeworld.

A lot of LGS are no longer going to sell GW products because of GW's new strategy of severely limiting their supply to LGS to pressure customers to go to official stores or online. Somehow this is being spun as backlash against the femstodes thing.

GW should sell products on their site at a discount if they want people to buy shit on their site then. Shit is way overpriced compared to any hobby shop's stock.

>>
>>94655083
You've figured it out then. They want to squeeze the supply chain to LGS that usually offer a 10% discount while hyping up FOMO for the newest release to corral people into their store. Most people aren't going to go to ebay or wherever to get a cheaper deal from an online retailer.

Gw can't offer discounts on their site or in their stores because they are the suppliers for all the other hobby shops. Imagine if you buy your stock from a manufacturer and then find out they're not only selling directly to the customer bypassing you, but also undercut your prices.
You would stop doing business with them immediately, and GW can't rely only on their own limited number of stores to move the volume of product their customers want.

Guard uses bulk ammo and mass production bolters.
SMs use artesan bolters and ammo.
Ammo would deffinitely not cost more than a life, unless its production required a life.
Even then stealing it would probably be slavery, death or servitor'd.
Guardsmen low on bolts would deffinitely raid SM bolt stock if it was left without security.
Expecting realistic exaggeration from autistic, never served, no guns might be too much to ask.

Nope, the largest guardsmen bolters are smaller than marine boltpistols, they straight up cannot use marine-scale rounds

>chaos commissars
Does it have to be specifically a commissar or would just a Chaotic task master do?
>>
>>94655601
>chaotic taskmaster
That might work.

Primarchs are meant to represent the great empires of history. The Mongolian empire is the biggest single landmass empire ever in history, the single bloodiest that reduced the human race by 11% in a single generation during Temujins time, obviously they get a 40k stand in.

What empires did horus, angron, lorgar, mortarion, fulgrim, and alpharius represent?
>>
>>94655623
or corvus vulkan and ferrus for that matter
>>
>>94655619
No they're meant to represent european history. The only non white primarch is khan, and that's only because the mongols invaded europe.

The Horus heresy and the scism of the mechanicum wrecked the information, industrial and technological capabilities of the imperium.
Then, losing the Emperor and Malcador, who united the vast majority of humans under a common goal, made everyone fracture and turn more for their own shorter term interests rather than grander goals, also resulting in shit like the war of assassin's and that kind of stuff.
Also finding out how fucked and corrosive the warp is, necessitating the growth of the ministorum and the inquisition.
40k is a hard place to live in.

Primarchs are meant to be an old fart's random coffee stains on paper done in an afternoon without much thought

Well, for good resin minis it takes a bit of time, skill and effort to get right.
And despite the supplies and printer being relatively cheap, you still need to have the space and ventilation to use safely, which is specially important for the people here with children or pets.
Haven't gotten myself a printer yet because I lack proper ventilation and I don't want to play the lung rot lottery for some fancy minis.

I'm gonna call it here. I could maybe highlight but I don't see the point. Shading and small detail work is going to be ruined by the massive layer lines. This was just a test run before my resin printer gets here anyway. This is a Retributor Squad that is in combat with chaos wolves. From left to right; Retributor Saya, Retributor Hina, Retributor Superior Runie, Retributor Muyu, Retributor Eimi, and in the back is Runatic the Cherub.
