>>94744994They're fuckin sweet. I'm only using a few of them in this team tho. I'd like to come up with a full team project with them someday but I already have my next few projects planned out
>>94744987at least a month out
void dancers feels very skew, shits on marines as they can trade 1 for 1 and win, loses to orks as they have trouble not going 1 for 1 and losing.
Finally got around to finish the terrain. What killzone do I get now?
>>94745255If that is your only one, ItD.
>>94745255Will you put a base under your ruins or leave them as they are?

Ok nerds, once I finish my current paint project I need to pick who to start next. Who would you pick out of:>Wreckas>Salvagers>Yaegirs>Nemesis Claw/Legionaries>Blades of Khaine
>>94747192Depends on what the current project is but out of context. First choice: Legionaries Second choice: Wreckas
>>94747056rust stalkers will kill just about anything they touch in melee if they are fresh and on conqueror imperative.if you use the omnisiah's imperative you will mega-kill anything that isin't a space marine with rending.double fight ploy is funnily pretty useless because i haven't had a situation happen where i had to fight twice, usually one fight means a dead model, either mine or theirs.mayby if you manage to double charge squishy operatives it is useful thoughsadly the infiltrators with flechettes and stun sticks are very underwhelming so far

>>94747565Guard is the classic boomer faction but Death Corps sucks ass rn. Blades of Khaine maybe?

>>94744664always been interested but never played 40k due to the time/money/space commitment seeming overwhelming. just discovering kill team and looking at it as a way to get into the hobby, I think I could sell some friends at the ~$50 entrypointhow are archon, corsairs, legionaries or nemesis claw as starting armies? interested in CSM or eldar, single box, reasonable to start with but enough complexity to be interesting. right now leaning towards hand of the archon
>>94749660Legionaries is easily one of the top 3 best teams and you can play it with 2-3 normal warriors and still do wellI'd still probably recommend a team you actually like as you'd probably enjoy that more and if you're new and playing with other new players you can strip out a bunch of mechanics to make it easier
>>94749660Any marines are good for starters since they tend to be simpler, hand of the archon has some token stuff to keep up with and corsairs have a bit more rules to keep up with. That being said I bought half the roster because I had painting ideas, I don't think any of them are too complicated after reading the datacards for fun. Just pick who you want.
>>94749884If i proxy my wreckas with boyz do you think anyone would mind?
>>94750653as long as the bases match and the weapons approximately match I doubt anyone will care
>>94750653Anon if you try to proxie Wreckas with Boyz I will find you and leave a human shit on your keyboard
>>94751092People keep asking this so much that this comment should be part of the first post along with all the links and shit.
is kill team a good way to get into 40k?
>>94754543Not really. Completly different ruleset and models often have special equipment not used in 40k but if you want to test how much fun you have building painting and playing with models terrain and such, this is a good game to test that.
>>94754543No, KT made me stop playing bighammer forever and that could happen to you too
Counter point to >>94754564 and >>94755035 is that if you aquire multiple different Kill Teams for one faction then you'll have a starting point for a 40k army.
>>94755393If there are multiple in the first place AND the equipment/constellation is usable in 40k.
>>94755035Why?
>>94756140Better game. You can set aside an hour or two for a game of KT instead of minimum 3-4. It's cheaper to get into. It's also just plain more fun than 40k has been for several editions now.
>>9475614010th edition, 9th edition and 7th edition has been complete AIDS.Waiting for a codex to come out for fucking competitive is a jokeThe number of models is inflated
>>94756140Try a demo game of 40kYoull come back to KT
Are there any kill teams that are going to be safe from rotation? I just want to paint some guys and not have to worry about grogs telling me I cant play them anymore in 1-2 years
>>94757028Everything release in Hivestorm and after will have support for 6 years
>>94757090What about gellerpox...
>>94757666you can't even buy gellarpox from GW but it will get support for the next ~3 years
Got some fast and easy hacks for painting gallowdark? I got a game tomorrow so I think I'll just spray it with leadbelcher, add some dark red contrast in some spots and corners to make it look rusty and then slather it with nuln oil all over. I'll touch up things like panels, lights and details at a later date.
>>94757815Dirty down rust or streaking grime if you want that kind of look
I'm a new player. Bought a Phobos strike team. Because marines are meant to be reasonably easy to learn how to play. Any ideas on which operatives to build?
>>94758517Phobos is the more complicated of the marine teams but you can build all the operatives out of the box you'll just need to swap the arms and backpacks around on the extra bodies you haveAlthough you'll need to get half a box of Reivers if you want to run the "optimal" team
>>94757028Then paint some guys and don't listen to some grogs.
>>94757028Rotation is a spook. Pick up and play the team you wanna play.
>>94759419As long as you are not a tourney runner at least but then you are going to bus the meta teams all the time anyway.
>>9475702840k is space marines. you safely can bet that after "angels of death" and "phobos" are rotated away you will get a 'and they will know no fear astartes part 2: electric boogaloo" box will get released where you can proxy or reuse non-specialists from previous killteams.
>>94758517>Because marines are meant to be reasonably easy to learn how to playSays who?
>>94757028Stop making up excuses and pick the team you think looks coolest and just fucking paint.
>>94759764AoD will be in the game for at least 6 years
>>94759987usually space marines have simpler rules and less of them, high stats less model counts so less to remember and are more forgiving jack of al trades. angels of death are like that, legionarys are nearly like that and in 40k it is also the case if you see it from an "on the table" aspect and not "in the book" aspect. the go to new player teams are usually loyalist space marines for multiple reasons.
>>94760059Are wreckas more simple than marines?
>>94760136No experience with wreckas yet so no idea.
My pastor just got served for molestationTeams for this feel?
>>94760181Sisters of Battle, obviously
Are kommandos too simple? Do they have any cool tricks?
>>94760181Brood brothers, take the priestlike guy
>>94760181Blooded (slaanesh)
>>94760170>>94760136Kinda yes, but they only have 2 APL and they dont really have the numbers to balance that. Marines have 3 APL, so a beginner will enjoy them more.
>>94760226BOMB SQUIGS
>>94760181chaos cult, guys in ropes throwing a bunch of little dudes with barely anything in the fight and letting them mutate into bizzare monsters from behind.
>>94749767>>94749884Fair, in general CSM are my favorite but in an Eldar mood right now and Archon seems like it's the simplest. The customizability of legionaries with marks is appealing thoughDo you all still play big 40k, is kill team a good entrypoint? Not sure I have the space in a tiny apartment for a 40k army but curious to try it at least once
>>94760189conceal dashing, exploding squig, comms combos, going through walls, they have a lot of useful operatives
>>94760352>comms combos???
>>94760181Trench crusade when they get a skirmish game
>>94760339I quit 40k for KTI still have my 1000 pt "armies"40k is just really not fun to play
>>94760339I occasionally play 40k, but it really is less fun than KT to me these days.KT plays faster, the game feels more dynamic due to the alternating activations and the terrain is nicer (i love the into the dark stuff).
>>94760339I never got into 40k proper, the prospect of only needing a few models for kill team convinced me to try out the hobby, then hours of bargain hunting and paint scheme epiphanies later I got pretty much every kill team I'm interested in.From what I can tell kill team is completely different but I think a few of them have rules for 40k or you can just proxy them as a regular squad if you ever wanted to try bighammer out
>>94744987They wont do it until after LVO as to not upset their tourny paypiggies (the real target demographic)
>>94760339I still play 40k, its good fun just don't try to play above 1k points. Playing at 1k points filters out all the retards using netlists and don't listen to anyone trying to scare you into thinking someone will bring Guilliman or whatever at 1k, they are nogames and that shit never happens outside of clueless new players who will accomplish nothing.I've been playing 40k for 4 years now and I've never played above 1k and always have a great time. If you're new you can totally use a Kill Team as a starting point for a 1k point army, the only real guidelines to keep in mind is make sure you have at least 1 tough unit that can soak up damage (ie a Dreadnought or Wraithlord, etc) and at least 1 unit that can deal with something like mentioned above (ie anything with S9 weapons or above or at least Anti-Vehicle keyword).
>>94760729What if they bring angron or a stompa
Will we get conpendium teams?
>>94760468I'm guessing he me means using comms to give another operative an additional ap.
>>94761576KEK
>>94760729Have you tried combat patrol? I haven't, but I was wondering how that compares vs. 1k games.
>>94761571No, not in this edition.
Which Kill Team model is the biggest jackass?
How much longer do I need to wait for AdMech to get a proper kill team?Explorators would be so PERFECT for this game do I even need to get into explaining why?
>>94763803What would be in an Explorators team? Tech priests and what else?
>>94763985Elite Team with 6 highly customizable tech priests like come on man use your head
>>94758517Buy some small $5 magnetic pack and a pin vice to make them all.
>>94763803I just want a fancier bespoke kit of special rust stalkers and skitarii
How would you make a world eaters kill team that isn't just an upgrade sprue for legionaries/berzerkers or jakhals/beastmen
Scions seem easy to counter, just keep to your half of the table for the first two turns after which they become Karskins without their good rules. How do you exploit that as Aquilons though? Super aggresive first two turns securong mission objectives and spreading out to plant beacons?
>>94745255you did a good job on it When I get a terrain kit I like to pick out the details like you have here instead of the mono colour basecoat-drybrush most people tend to do on terrain. this set in particular frustrates me. idk how to go about painting it, especially where to use metallics and which parts are "concrete". Some parts look like they should be metal but then will have rebar coming out of them, stuff like that. Not wild about the way the GW team did the box art for it either, so I won't be following that.
>>94758517Update: built whatever models I thought looked cool, couldn't be fucked with magnets. Starting to paint them.
>>94765649good for you. I'm half way through my chaos demons.
Second match of Kill Team this Sunday for meProlly going to be AoD vs HierotekExcited how it turns out
>>94744664>400 dollars of terrain if purchased from gw
How would you guys split hierotec equitable in half for joined ops? (half the team will be missing because the other player will play death guard but i don't want to just use the best models)
>>94766100Probably dropping one plasmacytes, and the despotek and apprentek alongside one of the basic immortals/deathmark slots.
>>94754543Absolutely not, gangs assembled for Kill Team are very often unusuable in 40k if you follow WYSIWYG
>>94766108I thought the same but feels kinda weak letting aprentec and despotec at home but using one of them seems kinda strong. to much of a power shift there, kinda.
>>94765138Scions don't seem easy to counter. They're a punching bag team. All they have going for them is a measly <7" base movement instead of 9" if you're using the drop markers.
>>94760474>Trench crusade when they get a skirmish gameTrench crusade is a skirmish game. Typical force is a dozen models.
>>94766267Did you mean "they don't seem easy to counter, they're the easiest to counter"?
>>94766429I'd guess anon means "if a team is countered by everything, that's not a counter and the team is just weak"
>>94765018... So you just want an upgrade sprue then?
>>94761223Then the one who didn't bring an overpowered unit sets the terrain. Or you just don't play them and go to the other table to play EDH for an hour.
>>94766074topkekHivestorm + Brutal and Cunning cost me the equivalent of 260 USD here in Europe. Can't stop lauging at how Americans are paying almost twice the price now, because of fucking brexit haha.
>>94767130A truly bewildering post
>>94767130I am not sure if brexit has anything to do with that. and the average income from usa citizens is around 40% higher than europeans so it is natural that they pay around 40% more.
>>94767130260 USD is still too much for an adult-sized version of this.
>>94767198It's ok, I just spoke to a friend of mine who is a lawyer and he said you are not legally required to buy anything that you do not want to buy.
>>94767178Wasn't the point of brexit to bring unlimited power and glory to england by changing the way they trade with other countries? And didn't GW products have the same price in the US as they did in western europe before brexit happened?
>>94767219>plays the cheap version of warhammer>still finds ways to spend moneyFindom is probably what you're looking for.
>>94767229Bringing glory ,yes. having same prices, fat no. in theory the trading prices with europe went up instead of with america. but i think GW does not really care about that whole brexit to much. except that it is harder to ship stuff inside the EU.
>>94767259I like this theory that it is actually cheaper in USA and that is is hard to ship stuff inside the EU.For some reason reality is the complete opposite. Prices are actually higher in the USA now and a mysterious legal entity called "Games Workshop Ireland" is making sure all european stores have plenty of product.
>>94767304It is harder than befor the brexit, not harder than to the usa and it is more expensive than befor brexit not more expensive as in usa.
What a bittersweet irony with Kill Team 3.When Kill Team 2 came out, it took the best of Kill Team 1 and Warhammer 40k - roster building. In exchange, we got fresh and fun mechanics, and, more importantly, an amazing balance that’s been unheard of in any GW game.Over time, the flaws in Kill Team 2's rules became clear: constantly measuring distances from bases to terrain, the same scenarios over and over (grenade in turn 1, elites being outactivated, close combat feeling too weak compared to shooting). But despite all that, the game was still a blast to play. Then Kill Team 3 is released. The old problems? Still there. Plus, they’ve added this dull, uninspired terrain mechanic, and you still spend half an hour slogging through boring pre-game steps. All of that would still be acceptable if not for one thing…They completely gutted roster building again. And to add insult to injury, the balance in Warhammer 40k - where the roster system is alive and well - is now better than in Kill Team 3! It’s frustrating. They took away our freedom, tied our hands (every trick of every team is fed to us via strict rules), and gave us nothing in return. Why even play this? Just for alternating turns? That’s not enough. For "your dudes"? There are your dudes" no more. As someone who’s been playing Kill Team since 2018, and who used to scoff at how clunky Warhammer 40k seemed in comparison, I now find Warhammer 40k way more interesting and diverse. In fact, my first 40k tournament is just two weeks away. The only silver lining in Kill Team 3 is the elite meta. It’s what the meta should’ve been all along, and now it finally is. Matches are so much more engaging and dynamic when it’s two elite teams squaring off.Picrel - some random tournament that i organized in 2019
>>94767404Yeah it's... rough. I still don't think it's such a bad system that it's become worse than 40k or anything, but basically every orher "improvement" has turned out not to be.>individual equipment was never that bad>new obscuring is even more complicated, still has non reciprocity>new ops are super skew and 3 objectives basically means everything is balanced around elites now>noobies still suffer because they don't realize a huge amount of power comes from tac-op selection and feasibilityOn the other hand>Terrain equips are great and help make more map types workable>universal stairs, smokes, and kraks level the playing field a lot>new climbing is more intuitive
>>94767404Once the balance issues get hammered out KT24 will be a strict improvement on KT21. Games and strategies are much more varied, several issues have been at least improved, and setup is both quicker for everyone and much more forgiving for new players.
>>94767404Mucho texto
