Anons, I come here to ask for your help in making (or at least, thinking about) an OC. I had the idea of a dungeon-crawling fantasy OC about delving into hell>limbo>heaven. More technical help such as spellchecking, thinking of systems etc. Well, help with lore tidbits/perks and whatnot would also be welcome. It is inspired by Magnagothica: Maleghast and of course, Dante's Inferno, and one of the main mechanics I thought was that everyone going into the dungeon is some sort of warlock, making pacts with Big Demons in exchange for power to go into the unknown depths of the dungeon.I'm a hack, so this is all I have (for now).
>>94762569
>>94762577I work at a machine's pace once I get something stable going on, anon. I am hack, so I am asking my betters probably for help.
>>94761772Feels good seeing Ian again... Welcome back bro. Holy shit that's one hell of a lineup against a lone druggie though. Three students and two pros. Sandy must really be cooking some crazy drugs in his murder den.Action scene was great. Characters seemed to be in character as near as I can tell. Good job cooking.
Rolled 2 (1d2)1. Try and finish my writefag for Fate2. Give up
>>94762585I'll be there to help when you develop more, my mcyogger
>>94762569>More technical help such as spellchecking, thinking of systems etc. Well, help with lore tidbits/perks and whatnot would also be welcome. What do you have so far?>and one of the main mechanics I thought was that everyone going into the dungeon is some sort of warlockAlright. At a glance this makes me wish for more variety but it could be satisfactory.
>>94762569Sure, when you have a WIP I'll read it and give some feedback. If you want general advice for having it be successful here, the big three are:1. A compressed setting that encourages interaction.2. Build variety.3. Flexible options, or options that can easily be reflavored. The most successful MPs are things that let the players build some of their own abilities, but importantly do so within defined limits. Limited freedom is the greatest fuel for creativity.Make sure to allow for half-demons/monsters/angels.
>>94762596Thanks.>>94762603For now, I have three classes of Warlock for this:Warlocks: The titular Warlocks, summon shadows of their demon patron/diminished versions of him and his forces to attack. Think of them like Shin Megami Tensei demons you summon to your side.Ubersmench /Panzersmench: Ubersmench comes in two varieties. It involves selling part of your soul to gain a demonic limb or transformation and thus becoming linked to your Demon patron.Panzersmench uses Hell's technology to enhance yourself to survive the trials of Hell itself, making a contract with Hell itself Doom Dark Age type of technology, not 40k's Daemon Engines type of technology.. Ubersmench also has a variety where you cut off your own limb and get it as demonic. It comes with a buttload of trauma, but no contract for those who are "too good to sell their souls". Kalcheis: The Titular Mages of this place, are more like the classic warlocks channeling the power of their Demon patrons to shoot magic and Eldritch Blast. Also, they basically Liches using Demon Flavored Skins.I don't have much for this OC yet, but I'm willing to work on it and work quickly.
>>94762569I do like the concept of Dante's Inferno, one of my favourite representations of hell, and one of my favourite games too. Everyone being a warlok of some kind feels a bit too limiting tho. At least allowing pacts with things other than demons would solve the variety problem a bit, angel pacts should not be a problem considering the setting, and at least a third race for Purgatory, I am not sure what would fit for that, maybe nephelim? Anyway it has promise.
>>94762639Well, Demons are just the main patrons, but I can work something like Chiron or the Judges of Hell and other characters that appear in the epic. What I thought is that to survive on your way down to hell, you kind of need to sell your soul to something to survive, kind of how in Made in Abyss people like Ozen and Bondrewd went to great lengths to have their prowess/go deeper into the abyss.I did think about making Angels as a mirror to the demons through a perk or something.
inb4 it attracts the same freaks from demon eyes 2
>>94762656Pretty sure you're thinking of the third run, but I won't judge.
>>94762634What's the main goal so far? The intent of the builds would be nice. Is heaven under attack of some sort so they're trying to redeem themselves by helping, or are the builds rebelling against God? Alternatively, is going down to the bottom layer of hell the main goal?
>>94762658In my opinion, Pedo Yu and Vore Freddy were cringe but the Tranny was cringekino and the Architect was just kino.
>>94762664Well, it is Dante's Inferno, so reaching heaven through hell and purgatory would be the objective. Underneath Hell is Limbo, and further down is Heaven.I thought of you not dying for hell in the dungeon/hell, so the demon contracts would be colorful things like: "If you step on a crack on the floor, you will feel your entire bloodline's shame all at once" and that type of creative punishments for whimsical creatures who play with souls. So: The main objective is getting through hell to reach heaven, kind of like Dante's Inferno (The Epic Hack 'n' Slash game), and Satan is the final boss of the dungeon.
>>94762652It fits less with Dante's inferno but Fae also make pacts. Anyway sacrifices for power as a theme are not a problem, but the kind of sacrifice being all the same like this is a bit restrictive, as well as the fact they are all demonic. I think angels are a bit too important to be relegated to a single perk considering where the endpoint is, I assume Purgatory and Heaven are not going to be just a peaceful stroll either. I feels a bit too samey for an MP, just adding 3 soft factions would make variety better. Trinity is a big theme of the epic after all, Hell/Purgatory/Heaven each with a spiral pattern mirroring the others, 3 factions make sense. In the same way I guess the 3 classes you mentioned also make sense, with the whole trinity thing.
>>94762680>Dante's Inferno (The Epic Hack 'n' Slash game)Not Dante's Inferno (the first part of the 14th century poem)? You lost me.
>>94762680Gotcha. Do sinners start at different layers, and if so, do all builds start at the same layer, meaning they are the same sin?How would angel aligned builds fit in? Are they people trying to help the sinners get to heaven?
>>94762694nta, but the poem didn't really work that way anyway. Dante wasn't even a dead sinner, just a guy being given a tour guide.
>>94760911pretty good, love pun too but the best part is chef Impakt>>94761772I like action writefags, and also the super speed scenes are always cool, good job
>>94762709Vgh... whimsical tour guide kino as we laugh at the retards in hell...
>>94762693Well, I think Death could be added for Purgatory or Nephelims for the third faction. Good point about angels.>>94762694Both are good.>>94762696I thought of the builds starting at some sort of Demonic City/Cathedral inside of the dungeon, and that city sinks a little lower into hell every time someone manages to go a little deeper. So lots of backstabbing/interactions with all sorts of people while in Sodom and Gomorrah analogs.I think some revelation type of shit for angels would be cool. "Yeah, go there and kill demons. Do God's will down there" rather than trying to redeem sinners (Since they are in hell, and not Purgatory just yet.
>>94762680Limbo and purgatory are not the same thing. Limbo is the -1th layer of hell, where souls wait to be judged and where unbaptized kids are stuck. Purgatory is a spiral mountain where souls need to repent and slowly make their way to heaven. By the way it has a mirrored structure to hell, where the lightest sins are at the top, the first circle of hell is lust, the last floor of purgatory is lust and so on.
>>94762716Who's being given the tour guide? Who's the retards in hell?
>>94750557Takako doesn't bring anything out of the ordinary, but some things of note are a pen collection, several records and CDs, an expensive audio system, a tree for bonsai, and a training dummy. If she wants to get in proper practice, then she'll go the distance to the facilities provided by the school, but it's not rare for her to need some venting. Calligraphy and traditional paintings will hang alongside framed posters of musicians she enjoys. The room will otherwise have a general sense of orderliness. There's not much to be said about her preferences for a roommate beyond it being a bad idea to pair her with a slob. She considers into a dorm a stright downgrade form her current living situation and is against the idea of having to share a room. She'll will push back against it every step of the way, but doesn't care much about her roomie as as long as they don't make a fuss about her music. The only (reasonable) accommodations she might want are for her pet since it's not likely that the room will be torn and build back up with maximum audio quality in mind before she moves in.
>>94762719Death could be a cool parton, a more neutral faction as opposed to good and evil. Purgatory is a place of transition, people are supposed to climb it, so maybe Reapers could have some guide like powers other than the usual, it woukd also create a nice parallel with Virgil, so playes can be guides to hell like him even if in a more hack n' slash/adventure kinda way.
>>94762719Maybe people are willing to go to the Dungeon to avoid dying. Like:"Oh no! I got the plague/leprosy! Time to go to hell to avoid dying"While they try to go to heaven somehow. This also plays on the "when hell is full, the dead will walk the earth", since the dying is going there, it is overflowing. Maybe they also throw unwanted wives, people with mental problems, or just war veterans down there for good measure."You are a witch. We are not even going to bother executing you. Throw her into her"And thus Natasha went from plebeian to an actual witch after being thrown into Hell...
>>94762719I see. I think the last bit I'd like to know is: what's the intended power level? How is it on a scale of *teleports behind you and blows up a mountain* to painstakingly reloading bullets and being careful not to fall from 20 feet or you'll break something?
>>94762634Sounds pretty cool anon, I like the ideas so far. Sounds like it could do well.
>>94762789I think a more grounded, but still fantasy approach. I thought of Beelzebub being kind of a mass of maggots, flies, and putrified meat, he is one of the highest demons around, but is nothing like "I blow a mountain" and more like:"My presence makes you go insane/my form is immutable to your weapons". They are clearly supernatural and so are the players due to the pacts, but they don't go over anime territory for power level.
>>94762802Sounds good. What do you have mechanically? I assume its point based. Also, what do you need help on if you can be a little more specific?
>>94762849For now, just a few ideas. I will start to work on the groundwork for it/introduction tomorrow night. I was not thinking about making it point-based, but something like that Urban Horror CYOA could be interesting for this premise,
>>94762867Historically, point-based have had a lot of success around here. Choices per section might not be a bad way to go either, I haven't seen it catch on as often but that could be about the settings and premise just as easily.
>>94762867Honestly, if you don't plan at having point based, don't feel like you should have it point based. Sometimes, not being point based is better.Feel free to share what you have later if you want, I eargerly await.
>>94760607https://rentry.org/638neg63Decided to hop on the new villain bandwagon - I was struggling to think of an idea for a long time, but a discussion a few threads back gave me an idea I liked. I don't know who is active, so sorry if this treads on someone's niche.I'll work on an introductory writefag (probably being commissioned by other villains, maybe a brief fightfag with a hero or student) after I finish rotting with my fate writefag.
>>94762975pretty cool villain, nice
>>94762975>that lack a traditional nervous systemHow out of the ordinary is too out of the ordinary for him?
>>94763033He would really struggle with something like an Octopus, since it's so decentralized and he wouldn't know where to 'focus'. Anything crazier than that and he can't do much.
>>94763058Now Silly Noodles have another food in their diet. Satoru is no longer alone on the menu!
>>94762975School Counselor Ito, but if he was more fucked up. I like him.
I'm reminded that I have (several) dumped villains, maybe I'll do something with them
>>94763149I believe in you Greenfinger+Greenfield anon.
Good progress coming along on bat-senpai's first day, I'm halfway through Class 1-D and approaching 10k.
>>94762975Kinda crazy, but I actually have both immediate and long term use for this build... If you'd like, I can work him into a minor cameo with my current writefag. Basically just replace a nameless NPC doctor I already wrote with Mr. Therapist and give him some off-putting dialogue.Writefag itself doesn't go deep into detail for this, so the tl;dr is that he was quietly offering his services in a small clinic in one of the nice sides of town, only for some Red Finger goons to raid the place to kidnap/forcefully recruit him. Students break in and save the day, unaware that the clinic's doctor was a major villain. He slips away before the police try to question him. Nothing super crazy.
>>94763325Sounds good to me! Something like that would help set the stage a bit and make it much easier for me to write my own intro writefag.
>>94763396Cool. Then I'll go add him in and fix up that scene.
>>94724147Shiketsu students, it's her first day and we're learning about sumi-e style painting, then doing our own! Yay!What does your build (attempt to) paint, how well does it go, and how do they try to get one over on their legally blind art teacher?Lixdite can't do art but he also doesn't want to trick the teacher. He would use his tail as a brush, it kinda counts, and attempt to paint a mountain range. His reasoning being that even if his painting sucks he at least was creative in making it. He will attempt to use wind too but I would assume someone would stop him from sending ink all over the classroom.I have been catching up on prompts that I copied down as I was making my build, I don't know how old this it but maybe it's useful.
>>94763433Thanks, anon. I'm working on the freshman class' art class right now, so that'll help.
>>94763468Cool, I lost track of when I saved most of this stuff.
>>94762975This just keeps going. Very detailed and cool concept. I feel like he doesn't completely realize what he is doing because of his own editing sometimes.
At least Cityanon's new slop isn't based on another shitass phone game.
>>94763596Is it him making Anon's Inferno?
>>94763596The ones based on phone games have been more successful than those not, thougheverbeit. He should therefore exclusively make phone game based cyoas to maximize ROI.
>>94762975Memory editing doesn't seem like a multiplayer power to me, honestly. Presenting a villain in dossier format is interesting though.
>>94763157Does it count as a dump if they don't have a build?
>>94763668Who else? It's got all his usual trademarks.
>>94763727NTA. Stop trying to quirk police.
>>94763852Okay, Shinji anon.
>>94763867You suck at being a schizo too.
>>94763852Why should he?
>>94763714When did he ever make something not based on a mobile game
>>94763752Pretty sure those both have builds, but I'd say a dump is only a dump if a build is posted.
>>94760607Ok I'm writing something for Michelson based around Ian, but I want opinions before putting it into writing/canon.the plan is that Michelson takes over as Ian's "Commanding Officer" but he doesn't actually care about ordering him around. However, once he notices that Ian has been trained to be the exact opposite nature of his quirk i.e. stiff and disciplined, he decides to re-train him under the guise of an internship because as he sees it, not training an operative to mentally and physically be one with their quirk will inevitable lead to terrible things ala Sandatsu
>>94763892His done it plenty. The most recent ones was some water world cyoa that literally got no builds.
>Dragon Ball slop>WIP that apparently isn't a franchise>Dante's Inferno'Bout time we got some new oc shame I can sense that they're all going to be mid
>>94763892Celestial Aria was not a franchise I think.
>>94763727Fair point. I tried to use his personality as an excuse for why he doesn't just mindrape people instantly, but having the option at all can make writefagging difficult. I'll revise it if I can think of a decent definement, but probably won't.
>>94763896Not Ian's anon, but I think the commanding officer thing is a stretch. They're both glowies, sure, but they're from different nations. I don't think getting a Japanese teaching job gives Michelson any kind of authority in the Japanese glowy chain of command. Odds are they don't even keep him in the loop let alone let him give orders to their agents. Just teaching Ian as a more experienced glowie seems fine however. I'm sure there's a lot of experience he can pass on that regular Pro Heroes couldn't.
>>94763944Just do some bull shit about it taking time or being way too difficult to perform accurate alterations on an alert mind.
>>94763895Greenfield doesn't have a build.
>>94763983His build just got bumped off the list to make room. It's still in the rentry.
>>94763983nope, it was posted
>>94763946Fair, it probably is a big stretch even if he's technically ingratiated with the Japanese Hero Association. Now that I think about it Japanese glowies going "wow he's so cool lets give him lots of authority" does seem pretty Gary-Stuish[/spoilers]
>>94763916WRONG, they'll ALL be kino.
Just the smaller staff relationship chart section to finish now. Bat-senpai's first day should be out sometime tomorrow.

>>94764121Oh yeah, I was using the right one in the writefag but got it mixed up in my head.

>>94764237Sandatsu can cause fundamental change to a society that could be long-lasting in its scope, but he can't do it with speed, subtlety, or extreme longevity. He also doesn't have potentially global reach with his current power set. Teo is a potential cult leader and mind rapist and unlike someone like Imamu can apparently cause wide-scale infrastructure damage by himself. You might have only just started but all of what I've said is in his intro document.

>>94764337Won't lie. I don't really get that one either. He has neither the quirk nor the personal ability to affect society on any kind of large scale. Even as a cultist, he's more a henchman than a criminal mastermind.
>makes you taste GodDork Weasel's true power...
>>94764362Sounds hot.
>>94764292>potential cult leader and mind rapistWhat? He has no mind control powers, at least no active ones. He is supposed to be ageless tho, it's just not something that would come up in tests, or would be relevant in the timeframe of the MP. It just felt strange to see him as the only non villain in the first 3 ranks, as far as I know I had to skim the names real fast so there may be other heroes too. I also can't deny your reasoning I guess, he does have some destructive powers.

>>94764353Either you're overestimating what Imamu and Desolator can accomplish and so misreading the scale of that tier or you don't know what mass olfactory assault can do. That's potentially permanently disabling and at minimum is a strong debuff to a massive area, inciting panic and vomiting, etc. It's the secondary effects that people ignore and they shouldn't.
>>94764345>who's already pretty goodStat-wise, she is, is the thing. She has superhuman abilities and doesn't want to use them because she has no ambition. Because she's a background NPC stock character.

>>94763892Memento Mori and FVH were based on a mobile phone game?
>>94762021I feel like you're forgetting that they have a public transport system that's fast, accessible, and cheap as hell. Free for students, I think. Going to school in a different city is not a big deal at all and prestigious schools can draw students from even farther away. You see that effect in countries even where transport infrastructure is abysmal.
>>94764172What's my boy Discord from Worm 1 doing in C tier?
>>94765201From what I know, it's not free for students, just discounted, and sometimes that's limited to elementary kids. An example from Osaka metro: https://subway.osakametro.co.jp/en/guide/fare/various_fares/child_fare/josya-ryokin_child.php https://subway.osakametro.co.jp/en/guide/fare/fare/price.phpThe transport system being good is likely to centralise the schooling with bigger cities attracting students from nearby rural regions and smaller towns. To me that's just an argument that Osaka, as the third most populous city in Japan, is likely to be one of those centralisation hubs.
>>94765282>likely to be one of those centralisation hubsHm. True enough.

>>94764494Since she was already a scientist by that time, she must be closer to 150 to 170 years than 120 tho.100-120 years since the manifestation of quirks, and then factoring in her age before getting one. She fan be anywhere from at very lesst 120 years in her earliest, to 170 at its maximum depending on how old she was.
>>94765705NTA, I thought those 120 years ago Quirks appeared in babies, not adults, so if she were older than that she'd be Quirkless. Or was she given a Quirk with Transfer later on? I haven't followed the conversation closely.
>>94765709She was artificially given one.
>>94761772It's great how the two pros at the start manage to be legitimately professional and still show their very different personalities. The action was easy to follow, too, which I know is not easy.
>>94760607Reijianon here, working a bit on an introductory writefag before I post the final build update but it's been going slow this week due to work, apologies. As an aside, does anyone know if Satoru has a habit of posting confidential stuff online? I've been toying with the idea of Reiji exploiting flaws in the Shiketsu robots during the entrance exams by referring to some of Satoru's anonymous tech-schizo rants on the dark web but I'm not sure how much he'd put out there. It'd also be funny if Reiji was following some Half-Blood Prince type journal on the flaws in the school's infrastructure without knowing that it's just Satoru covertly shitposting about all the problems he has with the network.
>>94760607How much knoweldge are students supposed to have of eachothers quirks? Is it public knowledge? Are there student archives or something similar?
>>94766223Depends on what year you're in. There isn't a public record of quirks but you'd pick up on what someone can do after knowing them for a year.
>>94766317As a freshman. Does the school have records? Not public ones, like student files. I would assume something like that exists at least. I am trying to figure out if a certain plot point I wanted to use makes sense.
>>94766383Yeah it probably does. If not then they can request the info from the Quirk Registry or something
>>94766223>>94766383When getting admitted to a Hero course, you'd have likely have to submit papers from the Quirk Registration Service (or whatever the name of that was). Early on, the kids would also likely talk about their Quirks, like when picking names, and in the case of the former 1D, they also introduced them during the Fight Dub Club. There are cases where some details might be omitted (Chris's memory issues) or a whole admission process might have been bypassed if you're a glowy (Sandatsu's Quirk was said to have been some form of a body modification rather than stealing Quirks when people die; but tbf, after what happened there, Karaburan would likely be extremely weary about admitting students like that and would vet them more).
>>94766383Think about it like IRL. CDan you access the files of other students? No. Can you ask around and get a good grip of who does what pretty easily? Sure.>>94766411You'd need to provide a reason for getting access to private, effectively medical records of private citizens.
>>94766411>>94766424>>94766431I see. I am still trying to figue out how much of this is classic hero stuff and how much is considered normal. If quirks are treated like medical records it makes sense I guess. I know the scholl must have something, they would not admit someone with absolutely no informations, but I was not sure how much. I think the point I wanted to make still makes sense, Lixdite only just learned about his Blood Boost, and just realized that being able to tell exactly who is injuried in a pretty big radius around him is not normal. He is worried to be seen as even more creepy so he will (poorly) try to keep hidden the fact that he gets stronger when offered blood. It would make no sense if everyone already knows everything but like this I can make it work.
>>94766431nta, but the idea of them being private citizens is kind of interesting. Normal students surely are, and I'd imagine it extends to hero school students until graduation, but pro heroes aren't quite private citizens. They're a really weird mash-up of public servant and celebrity, and I could see a big push towards making their records public. I could also see the line of thought where the sophomores on up who have a license might have some aspects of their records public as part of being a quasi-Pro Hero.Although personally I'd imagine that heroes have their quirk details kept confidential for the simple reason that you don't want to broadcast their weaknesses to all the villains of the world. I could even see the line of thought where their birthplace and real name are confidential to prevent attacks against their homes and families. Or maybe it's a case-by-case basis with different levels and kinds of confidentiality based on the needs of the hero in question. Could even be one of the factors that impacts ranking performance, where heroes without much to hide have an easier time climbing and the ones that agree to go underground have an easier time getting contracts with more confidentiality.
Heroes, what would it take for you to cross the line and take a life?Villains, what would it take for you to spare someone?
