I think getting it out of a single city and exploring the world at large could improve it, since it is no longer bound by the entity of Dunwich, and can have more monsters/source of powers lurking around.

The CYOA was/is in one of those, my idea for it would work as an expansion of the base CYOA going into the bigger world.
The main problem with the CYOA is that I was even worse at English when I made it, so grammar mistakes are all over the place, more than my usual.

>Arknights run was basically humans having their melodrama over a femoid grooming her husband
That was based. I wish we had more interconnected MPs like that, the only problem was a lack of non-humans to be used as pawns in the social game being played by the whole immediate family(and their distant gay musician uncle).
>>
>>94777370
I blame Sentinelanon and Saviouranon for being slow cooks, in addition to non-humans struggling to start their own plots. I agree that it had the potential for some kino dynamic, though.
>>

I once had a wip idea that involved every build being siblings but it was too shitposty so I scrapped it because I knew I'd get Doot Doot (no offense Doot Doot anon) and nothing else
>>
>>94777384
My Arknights build was a dump and I literally never cared about it at all but blaming specific effortfags for being too slow and killing an MP is cowardly.
>>
>>94777109
I don't know, it's complicated. Lixdite is actually not that bad in that regard, he is a bit lonley now that he's far from his family but other than that he's fine. His problems are from his quirk, having to control his emotions is much more stressful around strangers, and he just discovered he is powered by blood sacrifices. So I guess he is good but slowly getting worse? Kinda the opposite of my usual characters now that I think about it. There is also the part where he has a skewed view of the world, so in a way he is just crazy and would feel way worse if he did not. He was used to not caring about other people because he knew everyone in his town and they hated him. Now he is trying not to judge people too quickly and act like he thinks a hero should. He could get to really fucked up real quick, with his quirk compulsion and his knowledge of mythology going from hero complex to god complex and then to vengeful god is a slippery slope. It's early, but it could happen.

How enforced are the dorm rooms? Do you have to spend the night in yours or can you do stuff like bunking in someone else's dorm or rent a hotel room because you hate your roommate?
>>
>>94777109
>How's your build's mental health?
>Chihiro
Very mixed. Feelings of happiness and contentment are co-existing alongside self-loathing and lingering trauma. Functionally speaking, she's doing fine. Enjoying life, not having panic attacks or anything like that, etc. She's been on the slow upward slop towards good mental health.

From her own perspective, she's been through so much worse (which is true) and still got along just fine (which is less true), so she's pretty optimistic about her mental state...

>Himeko
Quite happy and content. She's lived a good life. Did everything she felt was needed of her and more, had a happy family life, is very wealthy, gets to watch her granddaughter grow and develop as a hero, etc... Probably jokingly looking forward to seeing some old dead friends in a few years.
>>
>>94777893
Pretty enforced. You might be able to appeal for a change of roomates if you hate them, but until then you're stuck in your room with them. No bunking in someone else's room and certainly no renting a hotel or going back to your house.

You'd get at minimum a stern talking to if it got reported/was found out. They do have to find out first, though. Much higher consequences if it was a romantic thing since it's breaking multiple rules.
>rent a hotel room
Absolutely and explicitly forbidden. Hero students have to stay in the dorms so the school doesn't have to keep getting flak and paying expense to try and cover for the villain attacks that kept happening. Because this is PR and security theater as much as anything else, the students have to play along Or Else.

Depends on if you interpret "your room" as your hotel room or your dorm room.

This is the first time I've stated the reason behind my initial statement. I denied her existence and supplied a reason for that denial. That's not moving goalposts. >>

Sure, I agree, but I don't see how that would flag anything. Or necessarily that she'd care since it's "important to her that the children have the chance to make mistakes and learn."

I ask you how was your night. You tell me it was fine. I sense that you are nervous and this is basically true. I assume it was just another normal night for you and maybe you don't want me prying. I have no reason to pry, so I don't. Maybe you farted and your roommate heard it, or you had a weird dream, or you just don't like small talk - none of my business.
>>
>>94778043
We should have made Popsy the dorm manager.
>>
>>94778035
I am not saying she is infallible, but the average student would not reason like you. We some delinquents that would just make things worse by being rude and some that would panic just for being talked to.
>>
>>94778052
She's too busy disappointing the entire country by nosediving the new Popsy Hero Agency that brand new sponsors footed the build for. Believe in the plan.
>>
>>94778057
>but the average student would not reason like you
You think they wouldn't tell a lie? I don't you've interacted with the average teenager.
>>
>>94778042
With the caveat that Karaburan is extremely soft on her Hero course students for kicking UA's ass and will ignore almost every violation they perform.
>>
>>94778057
I feel like the ones most likely and able to rent out a hotel room would be the hivemind, and they might be manipulative enough to answer like that, especially since they had to deal with having a mind reader in class for the last year.

>>94778081
Very true. She did hush up an attempted murder, after all.
>>
>>94778081

>>
>>94778044
I guess it depends on the build, some are more likely to be caught that way.
>>94778067
>You think they wouldn't tell a lie?
That is exactly the problem, they would. To get out of getting caught you need to do the opposite, you need to bend the truth instead. The average teenager would just make up a lie.
>>
>>94778044
nta, but I think the real answer is to back up and think about what the actual goal here is. If his anon just needs to escape the dorms for a night to get his plot going, that's fine. It's not like half the kids aren't running out at night to be vigilantes anyway. If anon just wants to avoid the dorms entirely, then that's kinda lame.
>>
>>94778033
Scattered across prompts I think. They're pretty typical school rules otherwise? Wear your uniform, no fights (where staff can see), be on time, don't hack the computer systems to falsify your grades and spread malicious rumors, no porn over the campus wifi...
>>
Why are pretending these rules are enforceable? No one in their right mind is going a give a good student the boot over something so frivolous when the school's reputation is in the toilet.
>>
>>94778094
Yeah, I agree with you entirely.
>>
>>94778081
The dating ban has been turned into a joke already with how little the kids care. Hoge, who's one of the few kids in class that might care for regulations like that is herself breaking it, and the gooksquad live streamed themselves breaking it during the tournament.
>>
>>94778092
>you need to bend the truth instead.
That's called lying. And the average teenager is capable of it.
>>
>>94778098
One of the many reasons Shitketsu will forever be inferior to Uber-A
>>
>>94778096
>no porn over the campus wifi...
Wait, that's an actual rule?
>>
>>94778098
The school's reputation being in the toilet makes them need to be more strict, not less. You clearly know very little about the world. Also keep in mind that the school has close ties with your entire career that you're training for and being expelled blacklists you 99% of the time.

>>94778117

everything about the school has been turned into a joke, from the flanderized rat obsessed principal, to the staff which was 40% turncoats at some point, to the delinquent students

>>
>>94778106
Wasn't really thinking about the dating ban, more that bit in Vigilante Hunt part 1 where she tells the business course and general education loser to straighten the fuck up and immediately turns around to treat Inigo and Sally all sweet and offer them cookies. She's not subtle about playing favorites.
>>
>>94778126
I know that rich kids could blatantly break the rules because their daddies are keeping the lights on, and kicking out any top student because they were holding hands when you're getting no applications and they can probably transfer to UA isn't going to help you.
>>
>>94778139
Who, 1-D? There's not enough of them to have to double up. Unless people want to put in filler dumps, they'll get the senior privilege of solo rooms by default.

If their parents wanted them to go to the school that lets them suck'n'fuck then they would have though.

This has me thinking: who are the 2-F students?
>>
>>94778152
Really? Are we assuming that there really are only like 8 students in new 1-D? I would assume the class if full of placeholders until an anon makes a build. Then again there is that one build that referenced a lack of students and transfered from the regular course.
>>
>>94778164
No one, they all shit themselves and quit the hero course when Sandy visited
>>
>>94778145
Trve. The idea that one of the Shitketsu students could even make it to the top 20 hero rankings is laughable, it's genuinely abysmal.
>>
>>94778164
No need. The survivors of the special class got folded in to the rest of the population. It was a funding stunt anyway. They were in a bathroom with a whiteboard mounted over the sinks, you think they were an official, intended thing?
>>
>>94778166
In either case their roommates are faceless Literally Whos that will never come up.
>>
>>94778164
I thought that was disbanded. They were something like an extra class, and rather undersized. Now that some kids transferred out, two classes for the hero course were enough.

It's just Slimenuts, he's the only one still in.

How can Shiketsu restore its reputation? It's produced one of the worst villains in modern history, several of the most famous students are known for delinquency, and UA seems to be coasting by.

I mean, elite schools have inertia on their side, so it wouldn't be a complete collapse, but it's still something Karaburan would need to deal with.
Which students could she trust to help sort it, if any?

The vigilante shit is fine to me since it certainly fits with the students' respective characters and flaws and has been kept under wraps very well (except Inigo, who could this mystery green vigilante man POSSIBLY be) but the turncoat dumps are indefensible. Genuinely awful and paints a laughable picture of the school, like what the fuck does it possibly add to Ersatz's character? She can't get her jollies beating up criminals in an official fashion, her literal job already? But I guess anons just can't keep away from edge given 60% of our heroes are angsty underground ones.

>>
>>94778268
All builds control the narrative, and that's exactly why you can't just fuck with the delinquents. Fucking up other people's storylines because you don't like something is just being an asshole and it'll be ignored.

Imagine for a moment you spend a few weeks or even months working on a series of writefags, and half-way through someone else decides to just do something that fucks it all up and makes the rest of your story not work anymore... Sometimes storylines just conflict, and that's fine. But it's something you should at least try to avoid.

In order to fix Shiketsu at this point, you'd need to gather up all the active anons and coordinate so everyone is happy with the result.
>>
>>94778301
I was gonna list off my most hated builds and MPs I frauded for despite wishing I didn't, mostly out of misplaced anger towards anons or insecurity, as well as some other gripes, but the list got too long and I got too embarassed.
>>
>>94778311
>In order to fix Shiketsu at this point, you'd need to gather up all the active anons and coordinate so everyone is happy with the result.
it'd make for a pretty good arc desu. Karaburan's in debt hell on top of everything else, and 'the students all pitch in to try and save the school' is a certified classic story beat.
>>
>>94778298
>But I guess anons just can't keep away from edge given 60% of our heroes are angsty underground ones.
Correct, we've been deprived of edgekino for too long and now MHA suffers for it
>>
>>94778324
>the students all pitch in
With what money? Most of the powerful students are dirt poor, and the rich ones have families that want them out of there.
Only way is for the students and alumni to do some big damn heroics that can't be ignored to try and bolster their reputation.

By throwing a big event to fundraise for it that utilizes all their varied underdog talents and teaches the parents who wanted to take their kids out of the school a valuable lesson, dummy. Have you never seen a movie from before the year 2000?
>>
>>94778311
Honestly I don't think the delinquents are the problem of the School anyway, from what I see the staff and other situations are way more of a joke. Still these >>94778324

>>
>>94778356
Seiryu and the Sword Senior*
>>
>>94778324
Yeah, I could see it. Honestly it'd be a good platform for some of the builds to come out of the closet with their vigilante stuff. Maybe have it end with the students getting a more advanced license that lets them do what they already do, but legally.

My main platform is just that the setting serves as a framework for us to tell stories in, so if we try to 'fix' the setting and it no longer serves that purpose then we just made things worse.

>>94778353
Fair enough, yeah. Plus unlike the delinquents, the various turncoats and other issues aren't as ingrained. If we really wanted to deal with them it wouldn't be as intrusive.

I also agree that having a big plotline to fix up the school and improve it's situation would be pretty cool.
>>
>>94778230
>Hifumi-anon, don't judge me too hard please
I'll try to. I can't say I'll succeed, but I'll try to. I don't see it going much further than strict split of the room in two zones or Changs pulling the the threat of stopping the funding to get a special exception or rooms resorted before the week is over. Seeing that discussion, Hailey probably could get Hifumi to teleport her to a nearby hotel. I think Four Seasons Kyoto is in his range.

>>
>>94778371
It seems to me that we're on that plotline already. How do you deal with the massive blow The Reaper represents? Put him down and convincingly reveal that a rogue agency was behind his creation. How do you manage the turncoat issue? Reveal its existence and root out the buyers. How do you deal with the loss of funds? That will come with an increase in the school's esteem in society, and maybe convincing the principal to stop betting everything on the next project. These are all being done in different plotlines by multiple builds, they just are doing it by happenstance instead of an intentional cooperation.

How do you make the school look elite? It already does. Anons are just being edgy. Their students work with top level pros, they have high-rankers on staff, they have an international reputation that until last year was untarnished, their name has a nationally-known aphorism attached to it (best in the west), and they made a big show out of a sporting event that brought in a lot of eyes, respect, and funds. The school's students perform well academically and the hero kids have high placement and licensing rates. It's definitely not by any stretch seen as a party school or mid-tier. Outside of the Reaper problem, the public doesn't even know about the other issues. Those are all internal.

Only Ito and Conman. It was discussed that the turncoat pregfag Nurse was helped to disappear again or something I don't remember but her life is basically over in Japan and we haven't heard of her in a good stretch. Conman's getting Worfed to benefit Imamu, too, so it's not like he's getting off scotfree.

Speaking of turncoats, who's really left? Majestic is an asshole, but not quite a turncoat. He just gets memed a lot. Two of the turncoats got fixed by Inigo, so they've already stopped being problems. Mio graduated and isn't the school's problem anymore. Ersatz is just a vigilante and not a real turncoat...

I think that just leaves the nurse for old stuff? For new stuff you have Mochi and Reiji, but I'd say they only just started being turncoats, and it's been getting writing already, so those two can stay at least a little longer.

I miss any turncoats?

She still wants a rematch with both Feral and Sandy, but they are both being hunted by top heroes right now, so that's unlikely to happen as it would require me beating the rot. I should just write another prompt writefag, that seemed to help.
Any good therapist wouldn't say that this is healthy though. It's been maybe a week or so in universe since Night of the Reaper, since Sandy nearly killed her, and she nearly caused Orochi to die. Shock and trauma is the healthy response to that night, not "I want to fight them again."

I'll try to rewrite that bit about kendo charge when I come up with an idea how. I fixed the language issues you pointed out, thanks again for them.
I don't see the resemblance to western fencing. Any reason why a broadsword in particular?
For the stances, I had this in the fightstyle prompt:
>His favourite stance is jodan followed by chudan, but sometimes he'll use fancier ones because they looked cool in movies.
So a comparison to Ichimonji is pretty on point because that skill is basically about taking that high stance before attacking from what I remember.
I'll be honest, the switch from Unique Style is motivated more by the meta-sphere (Unique Style is now cheaper, odd points, to keep the dynamic with Chihiro). I treat the upgrade essentially as just being better at it, and being more specific in the three focuses.
With it being less "unique", I believe it's now more refined, and could be taught to others.
They aren't completely separate styles. At their base improving on that core of his which is brawling swordsmen styles, so that part can be taught to anyone. Out of chars for a metaphor
Challenger Style is tailored to Hifumi, so the closer someone's Quirk is to his, the more direct overlap there will be, but it can be taught to most anyone who teleports to help them utilise the quirk better. Knowledge of range, tricks to bypass the guard, etc. Even for people who don't teleport, the focus on those ideas can be translated to some, although limited, level.
Waterfall has the focus in big part about that charge focus I struggled to explain with Kendo. Even for people who don't teleport, it can be taught to some level. It's somewhat like jousting with a sword. It's also about aerial manoeuvrability. If you can't teleport, what he can teach is very limited, but still something.
For Zatoichi, fighting blind can be taught to anyone, but it'll be more useful for some. The focus on studying your opponent to predict their movements is always useful.

She doesn't feel at "home" in Shiketsu, not as much as she used to, since she began to hang out with her gang homies again and feels like they understand her struggles better now. "You don't understand, I HAVE to eat that bottle of London Purple and then punch Chris!"

She still hopes she can mend the bridges with her Shiketsu friends before it is too late, but things may not go as easily for her. Overall, she is angsty within Shiketsu, while she is a lot more at peace with her gang since they are all misfits who don't have to wear masks anyway.

Takata has eight powerful octopus tentacles and can control water.
Definement [Appetite]: Takata's body requires an enormous amount of calories to maintain and a lot more to facilitate healthy growth.
Definement [Aquatic]: Takata must periodically soak in water or else will slowly lose his abilities.
Definement [Arrogance]: Takata may only control water when he is crossing his (human) arms. Somatic Component but I couldn't take it because it's incompatible with Tactile.

Takata is a quiet and reserved person, though leaning close to apathy or disinterest and combined with his mannerisms, he is often mistaken as being condescending or haughty. He is not very driven (mainly because he has no goal to drive towards), but when told to do something, he will do it, and when asked for his opinion, he is blunt and to the point.

>I don't see the resemblance to western fencing. Any reason why a broadsword in particular?
Hmm... Specifically, I'm thinking about how western swordsman use their sword after making contact. Basically, as I understand it compared to straight swords, curved swords (like most Japanese ones) require different techniques after you make contact, and it's that technique combined with the curve of the sword that makes them so good at cutting. I want to say that the former tries more to push through the enemy, while the latter is more focused on pulling away from the enemy?

The combination of Hifumi not being specialized in cutting, and his movements sometimes looking like he uses an un-orthodox weapon like a bat or a pipe (weapons that won't benefit at all from that kind of pulling technique) makes me wonder if he isn't following through on his attacks like a western swordsman, because with those kinds of straight, blunt weapons he's gotten used to it'd unironically be more effective.

Honestly though it's been years since I looked into that topic, so I might also be straight up wrong... And as for the broadsword thing, nah, that was just a random example. More just to signal that I didn't mean a rapier or something.

>I treat the upgrade essentially as just being better at it, and being more specific in the three focuses.
Yeah, fair enough. Same with the bits about being able to teach a lot of his styles to people with different quirks.

Hmm... If it's kind of like jousting with a sword, I see why you described it as attacking as part of a charge. He's basically trying to keep moving forward so he never loses his momentum, helping him put as much strength into each attack as possible.

I'm not an expert, but I think what you're talking about is percussive vs draw/push/pull cut or a chop vs slice. I'm not quit clear on terminology, but I believe it's about adding that sawing element by pushing or pulling instead of going straight down (for a bit of an exaggerated comparison, think about how you cut with a chef's knife vs chop with a cleaver). Curved swords sort of do that naturally due to their shape. They also have some traits that add to that, like being more top-heavy, different edge profile etc. Basically, from what I understand, they are made to cut better at the cost of stabbing worse. That'd be one of the factors, sure. His strikes would be much closer to chopping in that meaning.
I think what would also matter are the skills which are universal to all cutting swords: edge alignment, keeping the cut straight and so on. In kendo, with the way the strikes are counted, you've got some leeway with that. That can create bad habits when it comes to actually cutting, so even if he does practice it for when he needs to cut, he doesn't do it as much, so it's one of his weaker areas compared to how much experience with a sword he has overall. If he went into a tameshigiri competition with Chihiro, she'd would smoke him. If a scene was about cutting some especially hard targets, he'd struggle.
He'd follow through on his attacks, but not in that pull/push manner, more in the "strike through the target and keep awareness", as that's the zanshin. He's good on that part. His strikes aren't just touches, which amateurs in kendo might struggle with, but they often aren't perfect cuts.

Broadswords are actually surprisingly similar to rapiers in how they're used imo. https://youtu.be/teF7Kqabh4w Also, to me, they seems much more "rooted" than kendo. They maybe do a couple tiny steps, then a lounge and they stop, while in kendo the attacks are often done in a sort of a rush. A drive-by swording if you will. The way you described it matches.

I'm still rotting on the Church investigation / supply run, but should probably finish in 2-3 days. After that I'll probably do a Mr. Therapist introduction writefag, and then go back into Fate (maybe a meeting with Adelaide/Baphomet? I think they're working on a home invasion writefag against us, but if not I'll make that the first half of the meeting writefag).

>>94783070
I'm absolute shit at finding music, but I'll try and look for something for Mr. Therapist. Probably when I get home from work.
>>
>>94784044
Yeah, that's more or less the same principle I was thinking of, down to the chef's knife VS cleaver comparison.
And I also think you're right about edge alignment, etc. Broadly speaking I'm confident that his form and how he reaches contact in the first place is good, which really is the most important part.

Speaking of the whole push/pull vs striking through thing, it'd also translate a bit into the unarmed martial arts he practices, since that concept of "strike through the target and keep awareness" is important there too. You always want to aim through your opponent rather than just at them.

and ngl... I didn't expect that about broadswords... huh. Guess I learned a new thing.

nta, but she's played parts in both Chris's and Orochi's storylines too. She's not central to them the way, say, Hoge is to Inigo's plotlines, but she does show up here and there. Guess it depends on how you define most important. If it's just top 10% of builds, or the protag class, then she'd qualify.

Personally if this is tierlist logic, I'd say she falls somewhere between C and B-tier plot importance, which is important but not most important. My criteria would be something like:

A tier is the movers and shakers that major plotlines revolve around. This is where you have Sandy, Inigo, Chris, Desolator, Orochi, etc.

B tier is the people with their own minor plotlines that also are guests in the major plotlines. Chihiro, Hifumi, Hoge, etc.

C tier is people who either have their own minor plotlines, or are guests in the major plotlines but aren't both. Characters like Drekus or the rest of the five who get used a fair amount but doesn't have their own plot, or someone like Seiryu who's got his own plot but is a bit detached from the rest of the mp at this point.

D tier is for one-off writefags, cameos, minor NPCs, and the like. Someone who put in a little bit of effort at one point or got adopted to perform very minor roles. Greenfinger and Shinkan tier.

F tier is finally the actual literal whos that don't appear in anything. If their name simply doesn't appear in the writefag list, they probably go here.

Of course, it's not a static list. Mochi was originally F tier for example, but got adopted into the recent plotlines, so he's in that D tier range now. If Imamu-anon keeps going, I could see him developing his own major plotline and breaking into that A-tier, dragging Mochi up by the heels to a solid C tier along the way.

>>94785272
Number of writefags, number of incidents, and effect on state of the world, I guess?

For example, Seiryu-anon's highschool flashback saga was both high in number and high quality, but it had no effect on the greater world and I don't know if I'd count them as distinct incidents. Really his big issue is that his stories never really got linked into anything else. He was alone as chad writing adult builds doing adult build things and no one really reached out to him. I feel like Internships would have been huge for him. Anyway, basically one fuck huge writefag is the same for plot relevance as a 6 part writefag to me, as long as they cover the same general topic.

On the other hand, Orochi's got a very large number of writefags, spanning a larger number of different incidents. I felt like they've had some lingering effects on the rest of the class as well (especially the first incident with Feral), but if you wanted to argue that it's too self-contained to be a major plotline I could accept it. It's worth mentioning that I don't think all major plots are made equal. Orochi's is on the smaller end.

It's notably not a measure of how much I like a build or their associated works. If the quality and reception of writing was a factor, I'd at least have to bump Seiryu up a tier and Orochi down a tier, for example. Orochi anon writes at lot and I respect the grind, but he's not a high quality writer. Seiryu-anon is legit one of my favorite writers. I wasn't really thinking about number of builds featured, but that's something I could see as another way to judge setting impact.

Pretty good, I would say. At worst, Ichigo has self-esteem issues and anxiety, but that doesn't compare to what 2-D has gone through. Other than maybe some of the old 1-F, most of the school doesn't seem very well mentally.

It feels like every time I try to update the relationship chart, more students keep popping up. I wonder which of her seniors would regularly interact with her? Actually, what kind of plot is 1-D looking towards? I'm mostly going to work on SoL until they can get their license, but I'd be interested to see what else the other anons are looking to jumpstart. Depends on your taste. Sandatsu is a villain in Japan but he was flashy as hell when crashing that European auction or whatever it was. Midas basically can't help himself; everything he does is for the style. Imamu definitely has the potential for supervillainy. Actually, Desolator is ALL reputation and playing the game. Being a world famous assassination group takes a lot of style to pull off for decades and I remember he had a swanky Italian complex.

A lot of the villains are stuck at mook status, or maybe at most featured henchman status, because they don't have the style to be headliners. Characters like Mauler, Marshall, Broad Daylight... And then there's characters that are mundane on purpose, such as Mister Therapist.
>>
>>94785425
Lixdite is stuck between having to keep his quirk in check around strangers and making friends so he is not always around strangers, which is not particularly easy for him under normal circumstances and especially now in a foreign country. The plan for him was to slowly get to know both the rest of the students and how being a hero actually works compared to the idealized version he knows. He would be disillusioned by the commercial nature of heroes and would want to do something about it, where that goes depends on the friends he makes along the way, or lack thereof.
There are some interesting interactions I can see with the other freshmen. I already said that I find the almost mirror relationship he could have with Callous interesting, one needing to hold back and the other self destructing to just be enough. I can see a cool plot point coming from the fact that Lixdite is trying to hide his blood powers and Reiji would have the means to access his records and find out anyway. As for why I am not sure, Lixidite could suspect his mole status so he would try to find something to blackmail him back with, or maybe he could simply be curios because of an upcoming test where he has to do better than him, or maybe he needs his "unique skills" for something.
He would at least try to befriend his other class mates too regadless and I can think of a couple minor interactions for now. The new squid guy has some potential for interactions because of being based on a legend and some stuff I wrote in the prompt answers.

I am not sure about the seniors as I still have to read all of the builds. The only small funny interaction I can come up with would be one of the dragon students approaching him to ask what clan he is from mistaking him for a normal dragon, and him not quite understanding what they mean.

I have a lot to read and this time around I may get actual chice paralisis.

1-D having to deal with finding their own identity and the fallout of each other's afterschool stunting is a good enough plotline to me. Plus, there's no way to avoid the trouble being thrown their way by 2-D and 3-D acting out. For me personally, I'm into the emergent aspect of cooperative play. The only things I'll write for KK are probably either going to explore the school training aspects that no one touched on much in the first school year and also reactions to appearances in other people's stuff. >1-D having to deal with finding their own identity and the fallout of each other's afterschool stunting is a good enough plotline to me
I've never really thought about how each of their antics outside of school could affect each other, especially when some of 1-D had some strings pulled in order to get into the hero course in the first place. Losing a student to delinquency could lead to the hero course being abolished, if we're still going with the lack of enrollees thing. Though that doesn't seem to be the case with the principal, and I'm mostly just spitballing. What after school stuff did you have in mind for KK, or what do you think the other students are doing that could affect the rest of the class?

>I downloaded Twine to tinker around with it for an idea I had

I guess there could be a bit of an apprenticeship-type thing going on. Hopefully she doesn't drag him towards delinquency. Or maybe that's the point so that he can relearn the responsibilities of having such a quirk?

>need to think about something for Sword Senior, but I think it may go for the gang stuff and whatnot.

Yeah, Orochi is a Gestalt being, but the four are part of the whole, even Orochi. She is a part of "Orochi", the "real" Orochi can be argued to be her quirk, from whom she and the hydras are just an extension. Orochi herself is the one in "command" because she was the first of the four consciousnesses to reach a sense of self, and thus wrestled control of the body. Never seen that used, always octopi. I don't mind being wrong but I find it curious that this is the first time I see it. Octopodes makes a lot of sense if you know the latin root.

I thought it might be funny to do at least one where she's using her powers to do anything possible to avoid crossing paths with a villain on a crime spree so she doesn't break the No Vigilantism rule. But generally I meant SOL stuff unless a plot escalates to include happy-go-lucky KK into it.
>what do you think the other students are doing that could affect the rest of the class?
Reibai and Southpaw are both linking themselves to Sandatsu in different directions. Arach-Kid and Red Hat are both on that Imamu train. Double Trouble might be interacting a lot with vigilante senpais and the new villain Kodoku. Even Callous has some baggage, and Teocoatl seems like he's trying to be the next sympathetic school quirker! Poor KK's fun student life seems destined to fail, to me.
>>
>>94786057
Octopi is the "I don't know latin" overcorrection that is popular in American English. Octopodes is popular among english-speaking biologists (in the same way they use thagomizer - tongue in cheek) but octopuses is what you find in dictionaries and it's the most consistent with other English plurals.

They have no thoughts beyond optimally serving the main brain.

So, I'm a mecha fag, and I had an idea for this CYOA. Using the Versatile Quirk ability to blend "Construct" with the "Size Manipulation" quirk, it seems you could do the following:

Get the Large size construct, occupying a space of up to 20 cubic meters.

Get Gigantification, to increase the construct's size up to 5 times.

Get the maximum level of Increased Power, to double the size gain 8 times, leading to 5 x 2^8 scale increase, which is 5x256, = a 1,280x size increase.

This then creates a construct whose potential size is a space of up to 25,600 cubic meters.

Raw iron weighs 7800 kilograms per cubic meter. Using this as a quick and dirty stand in for a "giant robot" structure, this then becomes 199,680,000 kilograms of iron-equivalent. Which calculates out to being a little over two hundred and twenty thousand tons for this hypothetical construct at full bore quirk powerup, or a little more than two Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.

A: does that math check out for quirk purchasing and usage, and B: does that sound like a cool idea?

QUIRK FACTOR
>>
>>94786248
The iron is just shorthand for playing with numbers, but my next question would be that since the Complex material choice says that the construct is a full blown organism like a robot, would that not mean that it's built to accommodate such things?
>>
>>94786244
WOW. You remembered the fact they have bush viper-like scales now.
>>
>>94786248

>>
>>94786255
Yeah, I wanted to see where the numbers lined up compared to Battlemechs/Gundams/Gurren Lagann/etc, as a thought experiment to see what kind of bigass mecha might be possible.

The construct quirk is cool, but unfortunately is kinda limited regarding what all you can assume your construct comes with. Obviously a construct made of pure water does water things, but would a complex robot construct come with guns, jet thrusters, wings, scanners, shit like that?
>>
>>94776472
I found myself in need of a reporter perspective character.

>Just Another Story
>Japan

Name: Mizuki Fuzukawa
SN: Crystal Clear
Crystal Clear is a new rising star reporter with the Kyoto News Network.

>Career: Support
Type: Businessperson
Modifiers: Renowned, Public Relations, Investigation, Stealth, Sleight of Hand, Tactics, Hero Trivia, Villain Trivia, Gadget: Weapon (Taser), Gadget: Transport (Motorcycle)
Costume: Mundane
A Shiketsu alumnus from the Support course, Crystal Clear initially intended to go into a career in law enforcement, until she got a summer job at the news station and fell in love with reporting.

>Quirk: Concealment
Target: Objects
Senses: Vision
Method: Sight
Duration: Medium
Quirk Refinement: Mizuki's eyes, and only her eyes, are as hard to damage as diamonds.
Mizuki's Quirk, also called Crystal Clear, is able to render any object or part of an object within her field of view invisible for up to thirty minutes. Her Support license allows her to use her Quirk to assist in her job, which usually just means getting better angles for a camera by making a 'hole' in intervening material.
>>
>>94786292
>but would a complex robot construct come with guns, jet thrusters, wings, scanners, shit like that?
Probably not.
>>
>>94786308
What would be the best way to get such things?
>>
>>94786323
I'd use Versatile into Natural Weapon for the guns, and a Refinement for each of the other bits and bobs.
>>
>>94786323
nta but with the level of tech a smaller mecha could be built, then with a size manipulation+object manipulation with esoteric from refinement maybe you could make it big and pilot it?
>>
>>94786341
If I'm reading it correctly, Versatile can only be taken once. You'd have to give up either the construct tree, or the size manipulation tree, right? Since making the construct and Gigantification aren't "extras" that could be bought with Refinement?
>>
>>94786227
>I'm a mecha fag,
*mega
>>
>>94786227
>to double the size gain 8 times, leading to 5 x 2^8 scale increase
You'll note that it doubles SCALE, rather than volume. So even base gigantification is 5 times height, or a 125 times increase in volume. Taking increased power 8 times wouldn't be 2^8 increase in volume, it'd be 8^8.

In other words, it's a roughly 2 billion times increase in volume, for a total of 40-ish billion cubic meters.

As for if it's a cool idea, yes and no. I like mechas. I'm cool with someone that just summons a mech to pilot. I like the original concept. However a huge ass armored core sized mech feels like it'd be too strong for the setting. 99% of the cast could never realistically have a meaningful combat interaction with it, because most builds are more street level fighters. I think you'd be better off without the size manipulation quirk, and instead getting some kind second quirk that'll expand your mech a cool and unique weapon to play with.
>>
>>94786369
mega mecha best mecha.
>>
Mechas already exist in MHA.
>>
>>94786386
Yeah and they're UA training fodder not even fit to be employed against jobber villains
>>
>>94786373
Damn, I really misread the gigantification quirk then lol. Yeah, having a robot the size of an entire city probably wouldn't be too interesting, unless like the entire school was using it as a mobile field base or something.

All it'd really be good for would be like, excavating geoengineering projects or some such.
>>
>>94786407
Those ones are designed to be easy to destroy
>>
>>94786484
Apparently they're all that are available
>>
>>94776472
I searched images of kyoto and it's way more traditional than I was expecting. I can see why that guywas sure the school had a pagoda design.
>>
>>94786422
I mean, even at your original estimate it'd still be kinda excessive. Assuming a human-like build, 20m^3 is already about 7 times the scale of a person, or say 12-ish meters tall. (average human is around .06m^3, cube root of 20/.06 is around 7). If it's bulky, maybe 5-6 times scale, or 10-11 meters tall. Either way, you'd be taller than most of the buildings in Kyoto already.

Add your goal of a x1280 times increase in volume, and you're looking at upwards of 50x the scale of a person, or upwards of 100 meters tall. At that point I doubt it'd physically fit in the city. The streets wouldn't be wide enough.

For a comparison, Mount Lady was one of the heavier hitters from canon, and she's only around 10x scale, let alone being made of flesh and blood rather than raw steel. You'd have around 100+ times her volume and be made of metal. It wouldn't be anywhere near the same level of power.
>>
>>94786563
I was trying to be conservative with the size-mass equivalence since it wasn't stated super clearly. X cubic meters doesn't always translate cleanly to "this is how big this robot is", and I wanted to make sure I had some padding in case there were issues with needing some of that size for support materials, weapons, shit like that, since a mecha isn't a big cube.

Unless you're screaming geometrically, of course.
>>
>>94779223
Are we taking this as canon or do we wait for a bit more? We did get a couple more builds.
>>

Red Finger: Operation Murder Heist (Imamu/Red Eyes Oni, Zyra/Braindrain, Mythopoesis, Kester Greenfield, Mochi/Dark Weasel, Impakt, Popsy, Mizuki/Crystal Clear; Killed: Floor, Conman)
https://rentry.org/aby4savb

I ended up cooking faster than expected. I forgot how much I flow when writing capeshit. Imamu's first real debut as a threat, with an assassination (or as Mytho more stylishly dubs it, a murder heist) on Conman and Floor to shake up the calm.
>>
>>94786627
Holy shit, is Floor Dead?
>>
>>94786654
He was offered up in the list of builds for pruning to villain flex.
Of the two deaths, his is the easier to write in as miraculously being saved if his anon comes back.
>>
>>94786627
If that guy touches as much of a single strand of hair of Popsy, he is going to die. She has a merry band of barely contained psychopaths as her little pupils.
>>
>>94786623
Yeah, I get that. If it was a perfect cube it'd be more like... 3-ish meters tall instead of 10 to 12. That's why I took a human shape as a template to base the volume off of, since most mecha are vaguely humanoid. Tank treads or something would certainly make it shorter. Having some big cannons and stuff would also add some, but I feel like absolute worst case that stuff'll take up half of your volume. You'd still be in a situation where most of the buildings in town would be like... shin to ankle high to your mecha if you got an extra thousand times volume.

Honestly a lot of media with mechas in it has such huge machines that it's really easy to forgot just how big a 'mere' 10 meters is when you're fighting regular people.
>>
>>94776590
>>94786718

Next question, is Quirk Refinement saying you can take extra things specifically as things listed under the "Extras" category in each quirk, or is it extras in a broader sense?
>>
>>94786748
Broader sense. It's been used as the catch-all option for things not in the options.
>>
>>94786748
>specifically as things listed under the "Extras"
This one. At least when it comes to already existing ones, otherwise you just need to use them as comparison for how much the ability would cost.
>>
>>94786626
I would wait, especially since TaKo isn't in that list. I kinda see what they're going for with Red Hat + Arach-Kid in that they're on opposite sides of the same issue without knowing it, but the rest seem a bit arbitrary to me.
>>
>>94786762
It's actually both. You can use it to buy already existing extras from other templates and also to make your own fitting extra by using the points as reference for the cost.
>>
>>94786780
Callous/Teocoatl are just forced like that because no co-ed dorming to allow for what you pointed out. Not sure about the rest, maybe creepy with creepy and wholesome with wholesome?
>>
>>94786748
Both, I guess? If you can make sense of it, then yeah you can borrow another extra directly from another template. So if you wanted to borrow increased power from size manipulation 1-1 to make your construct bigger, that'd be legal.

You can also simply make up your own extras. Just gotta exercise some moderation. Looking at the already existing extras and making something similar is a good idea. Giving yourself entire new quirks through a refinement isn't.
>>
>>94786718
Plus, this ain't Tokyo. A four story building, which is about the cap for Kyoto's building regulations with only a few exceptions, is only a little bit over 13 meters tall. Any more than that and you can't even move effectively in town. A 6 meter mecha (that's like average Transformers height, right?) is about the right size for the general scale of the setting.
>>
I was considering making a build, but my idea was also a mythological mutant, so now it feels like it would be weird
>>
>>94786780
>Reset + Double Trouble
Both make duplicates and are fairly normal girls who would have fairly normal girl interactions.
>Southpaw + Reibai
Weird creepy girls, one wants to date/be a serial killer and the other sees dead people.
>Red Hat + Arach-Kid
Opposite sides of the same conflict like you said.
>Callous + Teocoatl
They've been talking about the mirrors between their characters and how it might be a catalyst for interactions.

it's about the height of a transformer, but a little too small to really be pilotable with an internal cockpit type deal. very wearable like extra large battle armor, though it loses some of the mecha aspect that way.
>>
>>94786821
Thanks, I tried really hard to come up with it.
>>
Can we just say that those nine already posted are probably going to be the core cast for 1-D and toss out some dump ideas to use for memeing and bit characters? Something Crazy Train tier. It seems like we aren't going to get a lot of builds thrown in this time but having nine kids is dire even if we assume they're surrounded by faceless mobs.
>>
>>94786803
Are buildings that small? Would the dorms/school be bigger at least? This is even less than what I saw.
>>94786796

>>
>>94786843
A story is about 3.1 meters or about 10 feet tall. Two stories is 6ish meters or 20 feet tall, four stories is 13ish meters or 40 feet.
>>
>>94786852

Hmm. The F-22 is about 19 meters long by 5 meters tall, though most of the body is narrower. The large-size construct being 20 meters x 20 meters at most could be considerably bulkier. And no one would consider a jet aircraft "power armor".

Maybe a transforming construct really *is* the way to go. Any students want the ability to call in friendly airstrikes, lol?
>>
>>94786838
I will slowly dripfeed dumps into the freshman class as I come up with half-baked ideas. I promise you that. I am a terminal character creator.
>>
>>94786803
Ngl, I don't know exactly how large transformers are. It's not a bad goal though. The bigger limitation is probably width. Basically you can't be so big that you can't stand in the main road without destroying the buildings on either side.. A 12 meter tall mech should still be OK with that constraint. Worst case it can't stretch out its arms. Going down to 6 would probably give it room to T-pose and dodge attacks, which wouldn't be a bad idea.
