Why I would entice them with food and lay clever traps. Never mind-Ignore how they always seem to know how to avoid the traps. Clearly they are exceedingly clever.

>How would you combat the Skaven if you were made Chief Ratcatcher General of the Empire?
Dump poison gas in the sewers. Something heavier than air ideally.
Maybe employ some dark mages to summon undead or demons in the sewers, or import some exotic monsters. Something that doesent mind eating endless rats.
>>
>>94778585
That sounds like it can't possibly backfire.
>>
>>94778591
Look, if the undead become a problem we summon demons to deal with them. If the demons become a problem we instead raise an army of the dead to keep them at bay. If whatever monster we import starts an out of control population we import some other monsters to serve as natural predators.

Everything is accounted for.

40K/AoS Daemon player here
I've loved dwarves forever and after seeing I can pick up models in ToW for a fraction of the cost of other systems I thought I'd make it my project for the year. I am learning the game, but there's so many options and the more I research the less confident I am about how to go about it.
My favorite playstyle in Total War is to use artillery and gunlines protected by heavy infantry, fighting a slow war of attrition rather than decisive strikes, which I'd like to replicate as best as possible.
To start I thought I'd pick up the 4 engineers (for a general,) dwarf cannon and organ gun, and the Dwarfen Mountain Holds Battalion. Problem is the last one; there's so many options and conflicting info out there.
My understanding is that it comes with 64 Dwarf bodies, with the supposed options to be building 32 Dwarf Warriors and 32 Thunderers or Quarrellers. I've seen some people claim they are the same bodies, meaning you could potentially build 32 Thunderers and 32 Quarrellers? In addition, you might be able to build rangers?
I also heard a few people say warriors are virtually useless because quarrellers and thunderers can perform almost as good in melee while having range, Is this true? I was looking forward to having a bunch of Gimlees with axes but don't need them if it is an objectively worse choice.
For the Gyrocopters I thought I'd see if I could magnetize, but if not probably build one gyrobomber and one normal copter.
I also wouldn't mind advice on how to expand after this.
I have a theme in mind, though haven't committed to it: Black Metal Virgin Holds
>Primarily black and white paint scheme with corpse paint over flesh color and a snow/forest aesthetic
>Think the Beasts of Chaos are the coolest thing ever but are secretly scared shitless of them
>"Legend tells of Grimbald the Ascendant, who obtained a Dark Elf gf"
>"I totally burned down a Sigmarite Temple this one time guys"

Yeah you can imagine how disappointed the Wife was when she found out what kind of shithole their new home was. But there is room in Warhammer for Love aswell. And Love makes one do silly things such as move from a picturesque Tilean Merchant Princes Estate to a dark and gloomy forest in the Empire where the only pastime is having kids.

You can get giants that come in threes from the spearhead in aos. They have skin and meat though.

How can I play warriors of chaos?
I don't really want to field Marauders
>>
>>94778794
The parts in the battalion are mostly interchangeable. Building 60 ranged troops is probably overkill, but doable. Warriors are decent as line holders and have better WS plus are cheaper than ranged units, so they are better at their role. Longbeards are better, but you can just use the same models with extra bits/paintjob. Gyrobombers suck, regular copters are fantastic.

The best stuff in Dwarfs are hammerers, irondrakes (minimum unit to get the unit champ and his trollhammer torpedo), rangers, gyros, artillery, and the gun thane.

...that after four years, my warriors of chaos army now finally stands at a full 2000 points! So long as I include those nurglings/counts-as chaos spawn of nurgle, that is. I'm looking forward to seeing what full-sized games of WHFB are like. The games I've played have all been at 1000 and 1500 points, so I'm curious to see what will change in larger games. I just hope my LGS doesn't start playing 3000 point games now. I honestly have no idea what I'd even collect and paint to fill out another 1000 points.

You can play a chaos army however you want, anon. What do you find cool about the army? You shouldn't be thinking about the meta and how to minmax your army list right from the start. Get a nice collection going, paint it up real pretty and then think about that kind of stuff. And remember to give your characters and regiments names. It makes them fight better.

Irondrakes are shooty so they match, but shooting won't always be enough so hammerers are there to finish stuff or deter things from rushing your guns.

What do you think of this rewrite of the spat between a Korean and Japanese anon as Dwarf and Elf?

Shut up prissy boy bitch elf, elf days look like this:

7AM:
Go be Pheonix King Court, (his wife doesn't fuck him because her bodyguard is hotter)
8AM:
Practice Elvish then realize its an ugly pussy language and stop
8:30AM:
Learn to suck slaaneshi girldick
10AM: Magic class, summon magic fleshlight to have sex with because of pussy taboo elf sex life makes you a virgin
12PM: Lunch, need 2 hours because you have to make a perfect vegan feast to nurse your delicate little fairy digestion
2PM: Gym class, only 30 minutes because elves are weak, including pre-workout stretches
2:30PM: Riekspeil Lesson
2:40PM: Watch elf woman get fucked by human merchant and masturbate small elven cock
3PM: Learn math 1 civil war and 1 grudgin' = end of fairy-boy empire
4PM: Deny grudges
7PM: Learn how to age immortally, never have kids and die a virgin
9PM: Go home to shitty abandoned dying village

Dwarf schedule:

5AM: Wake up and must prepare for ugly life as dwarf
7AM: Pretend ale is a good beverage even though fine Elven wine is CLEARLY superior to Dwarfish poison swill
8AM: Study magic, oh no wait Dwarfs not cool enough to use magic so study ugly runes
9AM to 9PM SHAVING BECAUSE YOUR BEARDS ARE SO FUCKING UGLY

COME TO ULTHUAN I WILL KILL YOU UGLY STUNTED LITTLE FREAK!!!

You aren't forced to take the Exile Vow and Questing Knights aren't given the option anyway, and the Exile Army doesn't start with the Blessing of the Lady regardless.
>>
>>94779994
I know, but the questing knights i take have blessing of the lady right? I am curious how that would work in an army that doesn't have that.

There isn't a miscommunication, you just aren't paying attention to what I'm saying. So for the third time. NO.

N.
O.

No, you are not allowed to start with the Blessing active in an Exile army. It doesn't matter if they have the Exile Vow or not. It doesn't matter if they're Questing Knights or not. Every unit in whole army is not allowed to start with it. Your knights, any kind, can only obtain it in combat as stated in the Reclaimed Glory rule. They can not start with it.

rifled muskets usually required the shot to be coated in more wadding and animal fat to help it stick to the grooves in the barrel so they were slow to reload and weren't a total gamechanger straight away. Also armies ith firearms still lost to premodern armies as late as 1880s and that was without magic and fantastical things.

Painting metal minis or painting metallics? I can tell you I've done both several times. Metal minis need some care when handling because even when primed there's a bigger risk of chipping. I recommend wearing latex gloves when handling and varnishing is absolutely necessary for a finished paint job. The actual painting itself is no different from a plastic or resin mini, though the details on a metal can be hard to find so I recommend a zenithal prime. As for metallics, I've only ever done regular real metallic paints because I'm too incompetent and afraid to do NMM. I hope one day I can do it on a character but I really need some practice first.

for Empire it is pretty awful because they have no special rules like warband, for everyone else just very sub-optimal. Greatswords are probably not going to make back their points but they will at least stick around for a game so you probably won't lose points compared to other units Empire have.

Warhammer is popular
which means people get into Warhammer online without having a dedicated gaming group at first
this means that they build an army with the idea of engaging with random people and this random pick up games inevitably end up having to be very standardized games, because you can't arrange gentlemanly agreements on a narrative scenario with someone you don't know, especially when that someone is new to wargaming in general and most likely a kid with some form of ocd
this cements the norm going forward
and for stores and gaming groups alike it's always easier to organise tournaments than narrative campaigns

the amount of people who ever played a narrative campaign with painted armies, globally, probably don't reach the hundreds, despite the millions of sales
>>
>>94780488

It's back to the old RPG meme of "let me tell you about my character..."
People like to read about relateable stuff that's useful for them. Everyone wants to win games to some degree, tournament scenarios are a kind of lingua franca and everyone knows somewhere in their heart that they're capable of collecting a standard force and at participating in a tournament, someday.
Getting someone interested in your personal army background, or homebrew rules that your chums play with, or the campaign you're playing with your extremely specific friend group? You need to actually present it in an entertaining, charismatic or instructional manner for people to care, and most nerds don't have the skill or confidence for that.

A lot of people who go to that sort of event, myself included, are casual players. Think of them as a scheduled day to play multiple games with multiple opponents, instead of scheduling one game with one specific opponent. There are definitely players who tryhard and are playing to win at all costs, but you'll find a good amount of opponents who are just there for a good time.
That being said, regarding casual play and playing outside of a tournament setting, it really depends on who goes to your LGS. You should really look at individual stores/clubs instead of looking on Facebook or the internet. In my experience, it's been very easy to find a casual game by just asking people for one, though admittedly this is because my LGS has a group chat. I haven't had the chance to play in a campaign, though. That sounds like it could be fun.

The people who do casual play aren't advertising it anywhere since it's just a private agreement between friends. Tournaments can be a good place to find new friends, however. Not everyone there is a sweaty. If you listen to a lot of youtube tournament batreps then keep in mind that the people with youtube channels tend to be the most tryhard sweaties there are and are going around stomping regular people with more narrative lists. Not surprising since a lot of them came from 40k. There are a few tournaments that are completely oriented for comp play, but those are more of an exception.

Isn't Dark Souls aesthetic largely based on Warhammer Artwork from the 2000s?

Late response but "no". Dark souls is based on berserk as its single biggest stylistic influence. And while its possible to argue that berserk may have taken some inspiration from early warhammer (it certainly bears some similarities, particularly in regards to the apostles/qlypoth) I think thats a definite stretch which vastly overestimates the influence of warhammer, and it would have been the EARLY early warhammer stuff if anything rather than the 6e era stuff which is more definitive and emblematic of warhammer.

Beyond just "dark souls (and subsequently elden ring) is based on warhammer" the souls games tend towards a particular form of medieval fantasy which is actually rather absent from warhammer. They exist in a period more technologically advanced than bretonnia (albeit without gunpowder) but also before the renaissanse empire, they're in this high medieval era which largely isn't represented in the setting. Theres definite elements which could translate or work from those games in terms of fitting into warhammer, but for the most part the more fantastical elements absolutely dont. Lothric might look like something out of a miller or blanche background, but the angel knights dont fit into warhammer.

>My favorite playstyle in Total War is to use artillery and gunlines protected by heavy infantry, fighting a slow war of attrition rather than decisive strikes, which I'd like to replicate as best as possible.
Good news, thats basically the only way dwarfs play.
You dont have the mobility for decisive strikes.

>In addition, you might be able to build rangers?
Rangers arent really a "separate unit" as much as something you convert out of quarellers. So yes, you can make rangers out of them. Just need some capes or whatever.

>I also heard a few people say warriors are virtually useless because quarrellers and thunderers can perform almost as good in melee while having range, Is this true?
Dwarf warriors are better in melee (unlike in prior editions) and are cheaper. They are in fact one of the most cost efficient "Holding" infantry in the game, with a very strong defensive statline for a rather low price. But they also dont do much damage, while quarrelers or thunderers can provide a threat at range and deal SOME damage in melee.

>For the Gyrocopters I thought I'd see if I could magnetize, but if not probably build one gyrobomber and one normal copter.
The bomber isnt something you can magnetize afaik, its a different body.

>I also wouldn't mind advice on how to expand after this.
Youre going to want some artillery, probably bolt throwers and an organ gun. Maybe some irondrakes (theyre very good, the torpedo hits like a cannon). Hammerers are also pretty good, as are longbeards. Might want one or the other to serve as your generals unit. Obviously also need some characters.

>I have a theme in mind, though haven't committed to it: Black Metal Virgin Holds
The lore is a bit silly, could probably use some editing if you want to have it fit better, but the idea sounds neat and the paint scheme sounds very unique as far as dwarfs go. Sounds cool.

I mean seriously, would you prefer a company of Handgunners, who have about 30 rounds of shot each, or a Company of Swordsmen who have unlimited Swords use against a horde of Skavenslaves or Zombies?

You are on a really foolish train of thought about "hurr why does the empire not-" when you have to reconsider that the British Jobbed against enthusiastic Zulus with breech loading rifled armaments, but Warhammer has Savage Orcs that are every bit as motivated as Zulus but also 8 foot tall and require 10 rounds to put down.

Truez last ones were from the 18th century, BUT they were fought and won more or less the same way as the ones in the Victorian Era. People with vlose quarters weapons and (most importantly!) shields charge on infantry lines armed with firewrms eating a few volleys in the process, manage to reach them and use their shield to easily neutralize enemy bayonets, easily cutting down the soldiers wielding them.

Technologically the first rifled barrel is frlm the late 15th century. Militarily it wasn't employed until the Napoleonic period for sharpshooters and only later during the Crimean War became standard issue. It took a long time until rifling was good enough to justify the cost.

I suppose that would depend on the RPG stats, but probably the latter. Dont imagine a party of scholars and courtiers would do very well vs a big dude in armor.

>Good thing they're slow as fuck.
Theyre not, theyre slightly slower than elves. Chaos warriors are quick, quicker than regular humans certainly.
>>

>So they'd be a suitable boss for a campaign.
Sure, you could absolutely use a chaos warrior as the boss of some warband or bandit group or whatever.
>Wait but elves are fast as fuck
Yes, elves are the fastest race in the world in terms of reflexes and shit. Chaos warriors (and skaven, funnily enough) exist as the next best thing. Demons and vampires too, but thats cheating.
>That is genuinely scary.
It is. Chaos warriors are very scary.
Chaos Warriors are essentially space marines, superhumans clad in what is the fantasy equivalent of power armor, and like space marines this means theyre also actually pretty damn fast. Theyre not sprinters or whatever, dont expect to see one chase down a guy on horseback, but in terms of reactions and shit theyre a cut above any normal human.
Theyre also very skilled, experienced, strong and tough.
>>
>>94783033
I do love the idea. Heroes are only as impressive as the villains they defeat, so if Chaos warriors are terrifying murder machines, taking one down is an achievement.
>>
>>94783043
Oh absolutely. Remember, each chaos warrior is, in his own right, a champion of the chaos gods.
Its easy to forget since theres whole armies of them, but each of them is a villain in their own right, with their own story of dark deeds and infamies. Its like with grail knights or questing knights, each one of those rank and file dudes has an entire story where theyre the main character.

Taking one down isnt just impressive, its also significant narratively, it represents overcoming a great evil.
>>
>>94782691
Ogres aren't supported either. I'd say WoC.
>>
>>94782936
>do you need to have an entire party of combat-oriented characters to take one down?
Reliably? Yeah. Remember that WFRP is built around semi-professional fighters as classes. In the wargame your characters would mostly fall into the militia unit, unless you're playing a combat specialist.
>>
>>94782982
>So they'd be a suitable boss for a campaign
Anon, the RPG has resouirces for a canpaign-ender boss fight against a single bloodletter, like something that's exoected to be a party-wiper for when the GM wants to end things.
>>
>>94783068
Actually adding to that: every knight fielded by every army is "an important dude", likewise for things like longbeards, hammerers, ironbreakers and so on.

Just because theyre small scale and "insignificant" within the context of a big army where dozens of them die per battle doesent mean they arent actually pretty big deals "in the context of the lore".
Losing that unit of 10 empire knights is a big deal, even if its only like 300pts. Those are noble scions that arent coming back home, respected members of their communities that have lived storied and consequential lives.

Your average 2000+pts tabletop battle is a fucking massacre, a hideous bloodbath which would leave massive scars on the world.
>>

Well, friend is telling me that the RPG rulebook has a blurb about a rich heir from a noble house hanging out in the slums, way beneath his standing, so maybe it's possible to use something like this to explain why a noble would hire thugs and cutthroats to go in the slums and retrieve his brother/cousin/whatever.
Could be a disastrous battle from which he was the only survivor, and he got disgraced for surviving, fell into alcoholism, and eventually ended up corrupted by Chaos.

What firearm would be a good sidearm for Karl Franz?

I think a Repeater Pistol would be good. The Engineers would want him to be armed to the best, the Pistol can fire repeatedly, and it's small enough to be shot with one hand, so he can still use the hammer in the other hand

I'd heartily recommend Warriors of Chaos. They're non-horde, fully supported, and most importantly are conpletely open in terms of models and paintjobs. You can basically take each unit as a separate warband and therefore modelling project, and it's completely in keeping with the army.

>>94783033
I always get a bit leery hearing Chaos Warriors being compared to SM. Space Marines are monsters, but the game, fluff and galaxy of 40K all revolve around them and they essentially form a baseline. Chaos Warriors are monsters in a world that revolves around regular men, dwarves and elves, a horrifying symptom of reality itself being corroded.

Yea. It might be interesting if one of those strategy games did the "accurate" thing where certain units arent just "buy and maintain", but are products of your population and shit. So your faction passively produces the "warrior caste" necessary, but using and losing them has other impacts beyond them dying (if all your nobles are dead, whos in charge?), meanwhile conscripting all the peasantry has its own issues.

but thats probably more autistic than a TW game should be.

>They're all impressive in the lore, but in the actual tabletop, any fight turns into a slaughter.
Yup, a decisive 2000pts loss by space marines would in the lore be a chapter defining thing you read about in the lore as a great defeat for the imperium.
Oh a chapter master, two dreadnoughts and like 30 of his elites were all killed? Rough.

>>
>>94783635
Yea, modeling demons is hard from a "realistic logictics" standpoint.
For undead you have the replaceable fodder troops, but then losing any necromancers or vampires should be crippling, and you should NEED them to maintain the army/your economy since "realistically" the whole faction is powered by them.
>>
>>94783484

>>
would it suck more being a peasant in Bretonnia or North Korea?
>>
>>94783635
Yes, it would probably make defeats or even costly victories crippling, but thats kinda realistic imo, war is hard and theres a reason people dont just do "total war" on everyone forever. Conquering a new settlement doesent actually just instantly grow your economy and start pumping out new forces or whatever.

Its not the right thing to have in a total war game, but I do think a game with those elements might be interesting to have. Really put you in the "proper" mood of statecraft and rulership where you suddenly see why avoiding a battle might be the wiser move and so on.
>>
>>94783651
I get it's impossible from a gameplay perspective, but it still annoys me that every knight is supposed to be a noble killing machine trained from birth to kill and serve, each with their own landings, and yet they're "just" another model.
I guess it's up to you to give them a story.

>>94783676
The fact that peasants never try to leave Brettonia and look up to their lords while people are desperate to escape North Korea should speak for itself.
>>
>>94783683
Yea, its definetly one of those "inherent dissonances" of warhammer being a game rather than a proper setting. Theres definetly a campaign to be had with rules which help make losses more meaningful (I think MWG actually had a fairly interesting go at it with the tomb kings vs dwarfs 3 parter) but finding a way to not make it snowball too fast would be hard.

And yea, its definetly an area where the player can spice things up. Give each regiment a story, name the dramatis personae even when theyre not necessarily "characters" and so on.

The last two arcane journals that we don't really know anything about what'll be in them are Beastmen and Wood Elves, anyone got any thoughts what could be there? For Wood Elves I reckon we'll get a Tree Spirit list and a Wild Hunt list, they just seem the obvious choices and Wild Hunt lets them do the cavalry heavy thing they seem to want to do, though not sure what Forgeworld models they could bring back for them, which is also something they seem to like. As for beastmen I have no idea, I'd like them to bring back Fimir for them but that's probably just wishful thinking.

Does Altdorf ever go to war on its own?

In actual history, there's actually quite a lot of precedent for imperial german cities going to war(actually feuding, not quite the same but effectively similar) with other citied and against landed nobles all the time. Especially in the late renaissance thr large cities were quite literally scouring the countryside of landed knights collecting tarrifs on major trade routes going through their territory.

I'm fairly certain the elector counts are constantly bickering with one another and Altdorf sends troops to reinforce those who align with their goals the most or as a peacekeeping force.

In any case, he and his men are hardened veteran sellswords and adventurers, attracting many Questing Knights and skilled fighters seeking glory and coin to their banner. I'll be painting my lowborn soldiers in matching (but much less elaborate) colors with their noble masters to indicate knights bringing a retinue of men with them when they join up with the company.

Where are they active, Border Princes, Empire, Badlands, Estalia and Tilea?
I imagine Bretonnia might be a bit too hot for them to mull about with all that unchivalrous behaviour.
>>
>>94785661
They started in the Border Princes as Errants during the initial foray into Nehekhara that caused the Battle of Matorea boogaloo with Settra. Afterwards (leaving the results of the battle ambiguous) their return journey was hampered by Orcs and they were waylaid in Tilea, and that's how they began mercenary life. They're doing quite well for themselves now, but have no virtues or magic items to reflect their turning their backs on Bretonnia for more vain pursuits. They do have a Grail Damsel among them, though, escorted by a mysterious pious knight who never removes his helm, never speaks, and shuns all reward, accepting only meager food rations which he eats only in private. Lots of Questing Knights and similarly odd fellows.
>>
>>94785471
Probably? Bogenhafen went to war a bit back in the rpg afaik, so I assume other cities do too. Nuln and Marineburg do too.
>>
For the purposes of determining whether or not the wand of jet breaks in TOW, does using a bound spell from a magic item count as making a casting roll? I know for a fact that the +1 casting bonus from the wand doesn't apply to bound spells, but can a result of a double on a bound spell's casting roll break it, or does it only take spells a wizard casts directly in to account?
>>
>>94785818
If you don't use the wand's bonus then it shouldn't risk breakage. That'd be retarded

That Damsel sounds like a SLUT.

Where is the Barony? I would imagine the lands are forfeit anyhow considering they are exiles.
>>
What sort of gifts would a dwarf accept and use?

They wouldn't accept most weapons and armor would they? Since if it's human made it'd be too low quality, if it's elven made it's not to be trusted, and if chaos forged it would go against their morality.

Would they accept stuff that is enchanted to help the wearer but isn't arms or armor?
>>
>>94785904
Food and Drink, Snorri doesnt seem to mind buckets of vodka in Beastslayer.
They would also accept animals, like a strong donkey or sturdy pony. Also other things, like a well made cloak or solid pair of boots tailor made for a Dwarf would not go amiss.
>>
>>94785471
Probably. Trade wars with other imperials, beastmen or greenskin incursions, the odd necromancer fucking with the local Garden of Morr, ROUSs, close to Dwarfs and Bretonnians, etc. And this is just talking about defensive fighting, as there's nothing to say such a rich place like Altdorf wouldn't be willing and able to project its power outwards, like funding expeditions into Norsca for trading or Lustria/Southlands or into the Land of the Dead for aome good old tomb raiding.
>>
>>94785936
>>94785471
Could also see Altdorf marching on their own to take down an uppity Robber Baron in their vicinity causing trouble, or intercepting an approaching Greenskin Horde. Altdorf mustering a few state regiments and marching without waiting for reikland troops to arrive is actually quite feasible, and at the scale that the vast majority of TOW matches take place, also quite thematical
>>
>>94785841
See, that's what I was thinking, but if you read the rules literally then the wand can break on any casting roll the wizard makes. You're right, that is retarded! I know people aren't even using the wand of jet because everyone is just running a level 4 to dispel their opponent's spells, but it's also just horrible and punishes you for giving your level 4 the ruby ring of ruin/the rod of the damned/any bound spell item if you interpret the rules literally.
On the other hand, this foray in to the absolute garbage that is the arcane magic item pool has led me to love the Tome of the Dark Gods even more. People running their level 4 battle magic sorcerers with the mark of Tzeentch are fools! For only 50 extra points points (really only 40 when you factor in the points saved from not taking the mark of Tzeentch) you can give your sorcerer the Tome of the Dark Gods and a spell familiar and you'll get to roll 5 spells on battle magic and replace the bad ones (CoAA, Oaken Shield, CoCF) with the good chaos lore spells. Imagine that: A level 4 sorcerer with fireball, pillar of fire, arcane urgency, winds of chaos (hex, -1/-2 movement) OR acquiescence (hex, unit strikes last) and the blue fire of tzeentch, and you'd have enough points left in your magic item budget to give him either the ruby ring of ruin or the rod of the damned. And all that without a stupid wand possibly exploding when your wizard isn't even casting his own spells. By the way, if the wand of jet can break when you cast a bound spell, then that means the sceptre of power can make your sorc lord take a wound at S10 AP-3 for daring to cast a bound spell too.
>>
>>94785818
No, bound items are not cast by the wizard, they do not benefit from any buffs the wizard might have to spells either.

>>94785981
Yes. but the FaQ elsewhere shows this isnt the case. Hagtree fetish doesent affect ruby ring for the same reason, the bound item is not "cast by the wizard"
>>
>>94786031
Ah. Well, sweet! Thank you, anon. I was worried over nothing then. I should really download and print these FAQs.
>>
>>94786054
Its not in that FaQ, so its more "inferring" but its the sort of inferring that means you wont get a more explicit FaQ.

Look under the hagtree fetish stuff, should be either ravening hordes or main rulebook (under fireball)

>That Damsel sounds like a SLUT.
She was called there by the Lady and pretty much spends her days counseling the Questing Knights and fruitlessly trying to convince the money/glory-hungry regular KOTR, and the baron himself, to change their ways and repent.
>Where is the Barony? I would imagine the lands are forfeit anyhow considering they are exiles.
Couronne, which is largely why he forgoes pegasus cavalry which he (and I) see as weak and inferior to natural horses. His father, the baron when he left, died during a Greenskin incursion shortly after, and his would-be barony is a minor and not particularly wealthy one and is now in the hands of his younger brother, since he did not return home from the crusade and was presumed dead as well. Minor as it is, his brother might one day find an army at his walls if he ever decides to return home. /mybaron/ isn't an exile so much as a wayfarer blown off course by fate, at this point there is nothing stopping him from just giving up and returning home other than pride, greed, and probably self-hatred for fleeing and abandoning Sir Cecil's forces at Matorea to their fate, if my headcanon ending of the battle is true. Hence the Grail Damsel trying to right him and bring him home. Also, she totally wants his D.
Whether or not he yet knows about the situation with his brother back home, I haven't decided yet. He'd find out eventually, but word travels slow, especially in his part of the world, and he's been presumed dead for years at this point. I'd imagine he would not be happy about it. He initially became the leader of the Matorea survivors by merit, not by title, and he still goes by "Sir" rather than Baron, so it's not like he *needs* the land or title, but between his pride and the Damsel nagging him it's likely he'll come back to claim it some day.
>>
>>94786031
>bound item is not "cast by the wizard"
It is though. Its why puppet fucks with bound spells on wizards.
>>
>>94786089
TLDR his exile was self-imposed, unless Sir Cecil ended up winning at Matorea and surviving, in which case it is very much official.

Pretty neat OC, I dig it.
If you're cool with it I'd like to suggest a crossover Episode of OCs, where my boy Benedict rode with /yourdudes/ for a while in Tilea years ago until he fell in love with his future wife.
A noble born wayward Empire Knight falling in with Bretonnian Sellswords sounds like a great source of shenanigans.

>Can the Hagtree Fetish be used to re-roll rolls To Wound caused by a Bound Spell?
No. Bound Spells are cast by the item they are bound to, whilst Arcane Items such as the Hagtree Fetish affect spells cast by their bearer. Therefore, unless an item specifies it has an effect upon Bound Spells, it does not.

Puppet doesent work either.

It's very likely they would have crossed swords and/or fought together at some point given how turbulent Tilea is politically. The culture clash would be fucking hilarious too (picrel), but there are plenty of opportunities for mutual respect to be won on the field.

Anons, I dont know what to do. I know I want to play savage badguys, but I cant decide which one.
>beastmen
they are evil human goat people that hate civilization and want to reduce the world to rubble, Cool and badass. Problems are that gw treats them like a red headed step child they dont want to acknowledge. Furthermore, there isnt too much story potential for them. I like savage goat men, I fuck with that aesthetic ALOT, its just in terms of support and narrative there isnt much. At best you'll have a book have them as an antagonist at the beginning.

>warriors
savage vikings from the land of ice and snow, they rape and pillage almost as good as the beastmen and look menacing while they do it. They got tons of books, lore, minis, and they can use chaos trolls and spawns in special instead of having them hog a rare slot like beasts. I fuck with these guys, they are cool, but they dont have the monsterous savagry of the beastmen. they arnt a ravenous mutated horde of beastly monsters, which I feel is a downgrade. Yea yea I find great migration germanics and tribal germania more interesting then vikings, sue me.

>greenskins
this is the oddball, but alot of stuff appeals to me. They are evil haters of civilization, have cool monsters, are also represented alot, and the troops have that monsterous vibe to them that I like. My main problems are that they both lack the sinister evil of the chaos factions and they have a goofy streak. I dont mind some comic relief, but it feels like half the roster of greenskins is just funny memes. Out of the 3, these guys interest me the least, but I figured i'd mention them since these guys are the only ones that come close to chaos for me.

Another note, in terms of gameplay, I like playing on unga bunga mode. Hit enemy with big stick, and figuring out strategic ways to hit them with a big stick. If I have any shooting its to be a prelude to unga bunga big stick. I want the ornate armaments of my enemy to be crushed by big stick
>>
>>94786245
You could combine Warriors and Beastmen.
HOWEVER...
Greenskins are fucking fun. And if you go Savage Orcs, you'll be the most Monke faction in the System. They even get all sorts of Trolls, who are peak Savage Idiocy.

I haven't introduced /mybaron/ yet, his name is Sir Jean Pointu. The other characters in his company:
>Sir Pascal de Parravon, lieutenant, paymaster, and BSB
>Ignace le Brûlant, vow-of-silence escort of Lady Eleanor
>Lady Eleanor Dufleuve, Grail Damsel
>Melzar the Mad, Battlemage and former dragon hunter who drags around a baby dragon on a chain to use as a flamethrower (Wyrmbreath Vial)
>Sir Gaspard d’Artois, First Knight and company champion
>Sir Raynaud de Gisoreux, bannerman of the knights on foot
>Sir Poton le Gris, KOTR of Mousillon, commands the 2nd cavalry unit
>Sir Carrouges la Hire, KOTR of Lyonesse, commands the 3rd cavalry unit
>Saint-Denis, Grail Monk who lost his eye in battle and now, in its place, sees glimmers of true visions of the lives of the Grail Companions
>>94786219
True, he's been on horseback since childhood, but a skilled duelist could best him on foot.

I see what you did there. The Hatchling on a Chain is a neat idea, but how common are battle mages pre-Magnus the Pious? Especially with Bretonnians.

>>
>>94786390
Which proxies do you use? Granted theres a nice selection of Bretonnian models and without the silly gorgets and bucket helmets.
>>
>>94786400
A healthy mix of Perrys, various crusade ranges, and Monstrous Encounters for my mook knights. Also, Chang. That QK Paladin champion and the new BSBs are too good to proxy.
>>
>>94786423
Those are solid yeah. Fuck Geedubya.
>>
>>94786353
As for the battlemage, Melzar the Mad, he's an Estalian pyromaniac pyromancer of (long-since exiled and disowned–I wonder why?) noble birth, entirely self-taught, and crazy as shit. The soldiers give him a wide berth and he's never allowed in a unit. He works in exchange for unrestricted access to any magical tomes and artifacts the company finds.
>>94786471
It looks surprisingly cohesive in style and scale, only annoying thing is the bottoms of the Perrys and their egregious mold lines, but they're worth it. Once everything is fully painted it'll look amazing.
>>
>>94786251
I can? whats the catch?
also yea, having a mainly orc force could be fun. Still missing that chaos flavor I really like, also if I fully lean into the savage stuff there wont be much story potential. I plan on a long campaign with my partner
>>
>>94786506
Estalia makes sense then I guess (I dont know better but Sienna is from there or something).

>>
>>94786547
WoC and BM can take each other as allies in either direction.
To do so, 25% of your army can be dedicated to the ally. BUT it must be a fully functional army (General + 25% core + Special Rare) so it is difficult to fit in non core

Assume a 2k army
25% of your army must be core so 500/4 is 125 points of core
Then you need a characters one of which is a general which is up to 50% of your army, so a max of 250 points
Naturally, you want a decent character and the 125 of core can make it hard to fit in Special or Rare

When your dudes go full monstrous savagery they lose the ability to have any impact in a story aside from burning, looting and killing. This is natural. That's literally what monstrous savagery means.
