Understanding, Elodie unloaded the trawler net, attached it to a nearby crane and use it to scoop up the enraged rabbits as they gnawed furiously at my ship's hull.

I spent the decade running a successful rabbit fisherman business by relying on my [Lapine Nemesis] cheat skill to taunt rabbits all over the country, use my rabbit-hunting fleet's unrivalled capture capacity to sell them en masse to grateful townships, and also supplemented my business with the sale of luxury-class cargo.

Part of it is the degradation of a trope. Do you read much fanfiction? Have you ever? If you have, you might have noticed that fanfiction within a certain community will see one story do a thing and then other people start doing it, and then people keep copying that idea without any rhyme or reason for why it exists or worked the way it did in the first place. They're copying it because they're trying to check all the boxes and it became one of the boxes. I'll give you an example.

In Naruto fanfiction, at some point somebody represented a little babby ninja killing someone for the first time as something greatly traumatic and heavy. They depicted Naruto (because that's who 95% of the stories are about) as throwing up after, so sick to his stomach it made him. This added some level of darkness and maturity to their story by depicting a psychological aspect not seen in the original work. People liked this. People copied this. The trope degraded. Eventually you got stories where Dark!Edgy!Gray!Competent!Naruto would take his first mission at eight years old with the ANBU, snap some dude's neck like a glow stick, projectile vomit to the side for a second, and then keep moving unbothered and ready to continue. It was no longer about trauma or revulsion, the trope had just been copied so much at that point that random authors would just be like "You kill a guy for the first time, then you throw up. That's just how it works."

Isekai Slavery is the same thing. Titty slaves are just part of the genre at this point, and Isekai write by numbers authors are so numb to the concept that they likewise project this numbness onto their protagonists and other characters without even realizing. These characters will see fantasy slavery and they won't be shocked, they won't be appalled, they won't even be excited in some amoral fashion about getting to just fucking purchase a 10/10 loyal sex slave or a giant tiger man body guard or whatever. It's just whatever. It's slop.

Not very. The most destructive single ability is the unique Laser Beam skill, which pierces most defenses and basically puts a hole into whatever it is aimed at. Starting to think I severely underestimated how much I still had left to do for TFG1. At this point, I can't even guess how long this will take. Or maybe it just feels like a lot more since I have to worry about real-life adult responsibilities again now that the holidays are over.

So out of morbid curiosity, I have a question for other Jumpmakers. How many pages would you say you can usually fluff in a day on average? What about on days when you're feeling especially motivated? I'd guesstimate 4 is my average, 12 is my absolute max.

I don't really track things by page. I gauge by number of options, even if that is a way less accurate way of judging things. On an average day I shoot for ten options, and then push in batches of five beyond that if I can. On a particularly motivated day I starts at twenty and then push in batches of five past that. I use achievable goal setting in order to motivate myself to keep going, and often alternate between writing an option and playing a bit of a game or something - this lets me think ahead and relax a bit between options, whilst still feel motivated and like I am making progress.

You can gain them and train them higher, Wataru obtains Taming after playing with slimes a lot. The idea behind buying them is just a leg up which is why they only cost 50 CP. Forgot to mention but any existing skills you had, like if you were a decent fire mage before, would automatically grant you skills of an appropriate rank. Will have to add that in.

For those who writefag, do you ever get caught up too much in the plot? Like maybe the setting and story is kind of detail rich and you find yourself rehashing the same scenes from Canon. Or is that just a me thing? Also any tips to while not completely fucking off to do your own thing, do your own thing while keeping the parts of the plot you like intact? For instance in Overlord I am trying to make Ainz a good guy through my jumper actually being a friend to him. There's some where I want to get involved in specific events, there's others where I care more about the characters and then there's others were the objective is to stop something before it happens. In general I try to think of at least a handful of different "big things" that the jumper is going to try to accomplish within a jump and then focus on writing out those specific scenes.

Yes, you should be able to buy a submarine with the boat version as long as it is unarmed. So a modern scientific sub. Basically if it travels by land/water/air, you can buy it with the respective version. I wanted to use the air version to buy various zeppelins/airships myself.

Not HDM but the way spells work in Grimnoir is that they are superpowers running off a personal power reserve and spells on items or as tattoo scars are permanent enhancements. Think of it less as magic and more as superpowers that can be buffed or bound to an item with runes.

The spell of power is just a massive power up that takes someone from summoning an imp they can see through the eyes of for reconnaissance as their base power to summoning and possessing a kaiju once they got the boost.

Yeah the way it works is that you draw a geometric representation of a part of the eldritch creature that grants powers. Then you pour a chunk of your own power/mana/whatever into that and depending on what part you drew a representation of it will cause a passive effect.

There is a character that is a gunsmith who engraves guns to give them passive boosts so they are really durable and can take higher powder loads and similar stuff.
Drawing runes on items is safe and easy so there is a lot of subtly enchanted gear but if you are really good and knowledgeable you can make magic items that can do things like scan the globe for specific magical signatures, assault robots that run off of punchcards, and magical bazookas that shoot disintegrator beams.

If you have someone with a power to feed active power into them you can make even more complex gear like combat power armor that makes the wearer as tough as the armor so they are mostly immune to g-forces and impacts, or create hologram calls around the world to specific people.

Putting spells onto people is a lot harder and has a risk where every time you put one onto someone they basically have to make a fortitude save to not die and each one is harder than the last. But they are really useful. Someone went from dying of a gunshot wound to fully healed in about a day after they stuck a single Vitality rune on him.

I'm gonna copy this down, because this information is actually pretty useful to me. So in other words, Active powers are less classic magic and more like super powers, while passive magic can be used to buff items or people, with the former being safe and easy while the latter can be life threatening but potent if successful. A spellscar functions as a permanent buff, making you stronger or heal faster or some other such effect. Passive spells/runes can also be used to create powerful magical items, meaning they'd be really useful for a crafting chain. Someone who has active power themselves use more complex items enhanced by passive magic because they can pour their own magic into the equipment.

So do more simple equipment, like guns, not require being fed magic after the initial rune inscribing to be enhanced?

The thing with nen is if you were a supergenius on the level of, like, Ultimate Kars you could probably develop literally any possible nen ability instantly and on the fly in the middle of combat. Yeah some of the details are more implied than stated. We only get told about a couple of specific runes but the way they work means that anything a power can do can be done with runes in a lesser and static way.
So you could make a rune lighter or blowtorch or flamethrower but it would only do one thing in a specific way while a person with a connection to the fire part of the power can light fires, put them out, make flames into shapes, move around only heat, throw fire like a flamethrower, cook someone from the inside without visible flame, and have an awareness of the area around them through sensing heat.
People with an actual power are just all around better and more flexible than even the best magitech. You can also connect your power to magitech to control it better than someone using manual controls.
But putting runes on someone means they get passive benefits that don't need active control. So people with a couple durability runes can shrug off handguns, while strength runes wont let you throw cars like someone with a brute power you would still be a lot stronger than even a dedicated strongman/weightlifter.
Runes on people have diminishing returns so more than 3-4 stop giving noticeable gains and you risk death every time you add a new one so it is usually better to try for a spread of runes and only try for duplicates once you already have all the different ones you want.

Another retarded Overlord question. Using a City Guild Base seems to suggest that there's potentially a TON of commerce handled by NPCs, but we never see any example of that in Nazarick who uses NPC levels to make everyone intelligent enough to do that. I might then assume that there's special POPs for the purpose, but Ainz says specifically that NPCs alone could be trusted with specific orders because POPs weren't intelligent enough for anything more than basic commands and manual labor. Whether that's because most of his POPs are undead is unclear.

Basically am I missing something or is it better to just fanwank there's merchant NPCs for this Guild configuration specifically? The Guild was basically build to serve as a "player made city" for heteromorph players banned from normal hub areas so it'd make some sense to me.

We don't know the full details on how some of the runes work. One person talks about how they have five runes; Hearing, Stealth, Strength, Sight, and Vitality and most of those are pretty obvious in what they do but the Stealth rune is never explained.

Also a thing that isn't right in the jump is that power doesn't regenerate that fast.
It takes a couple hours to go from empty to full not minutes so you can't count on mid fight recovery. But someone with a Spell of Power basically doesn't run out at all so it both lets you channel more power over a greater range and makes you recover fast enough that it is nearly impossible to run out.

One of my favorite things to do is to pick up Child Prodigy which allows you to set your age to the lowest ever recorded among prodigies for a given rank. Kakashi graduated from the Academy to become a Genin at the age of 5. So I build an obscenely talented ninja who's a literal 5 year old and then just insert myself into Team 7.

So now you've got Kakashi babysitting a ludicrously powerful child, holding my hand so I don't wander off. He loses sight of me for half a second and I sneak up on Itachi and tell him I think his hat is really cool. Or during the Chunin Exams I wander off into the Forest of Death and casually beat up like half a dozen teams but completely forget about taking their scrolls until Sasuke reminds me that we need one. Or I effortlessly master the Rasengan after seeing it once but completely forget about it and don't use it until way into Shippuden because I don't think it's cool enough.

When you rad isekai and the slavery stuff comes up, there are only two types of slaves ever. Thirsty ass titty slaves that only like the protagonist, and HUGE DUDES. I read a story a long time ago where the protagonist had Analysis or something as his Skill that let him see people's stats and potential. He took one look at the designated big titty elf slave, saw that she was a princess and also had a plot curse or something, and promptly passed her off and bid on the ragged old man that came up next who sold for chump change because he had S-rank swordsmanship and was actually a legendary warrior that was beaten and captured after some war ended and he lost his sword arm in battle. So the protag had his arm restored, fed him until he eventually recovered, and acquired the undying gratitude and loyalty of one of the most terrifying warriors on the entire fucking continent.

There is one where a guy gets the Healer class and is banished to a super hard dungeon, but finds a power that lets him 'reverse' his abilities, like a healing wave becomes a wave of disintegration. One of his reversed skills has the sky crack, a large face appear when it breaks open like a demented god, and it cries tears of blood. These blood tears are a super potent acid that basically melt everything they touch, and while attacking the kingdom that abadoned him he uses it quite a bit.

Sounds kinda neat, though I've read a few stories that aren't unlike that. One had the guy as a noble kid but he himself just horrifically low rolled and sucks terribly at basically everything, except he can check peoples skills and potential and stats and ends up surrounding himself with random people that can do all the things he can't as he works to elevate his territory. Didn't really care for it, kinda fell off eventually.

There's another one that's just Japanese/Western fantasy where the dude is dropped from his party (even though they still like him) because he just can't catch up despite being really, really good at training others. He gets one of the rewards they were sitting on as a parting gift and becomes governor of some remote territory, and begins to develop it using what he's good at, finding and cultivating potential. He starts doing this eccentric weirdo bullshit where he forms what is essentially the biggest party ever (a small army) that helps him with further developing the territory and fighting monsters and stuff. I kinda liked that one, end up checking in on it every now and then. Recently he built up a port for the construction of a warship.

There is a type of revenge fantasy where the person is happy and cheerful though, and it's the adventurer stories where he gets kicked out of the party. Those generally go one of two ways.

The first way is that he sucks and gets kicked out because he's way too weak with his old friends treating him like dirt, only for him to soon thereafter awaken his potential and get super cheat powers and a bunch of lady friends who want to suck him sloppy. The second way is that he was already broken (whether or not he realized it) and was constantly hand holding his party to greatness, but gets let go because they're idiots who don't realize how busted he is. In either case the protagonist sorta just fucks off, gets a bunch of lady friends, and lives a good life.

Despite the protagonist not actively seeking revenge, I'd call these revenge fantasies because the author often goes back to the old party who disrespected the protagonist and shows their steady, miserable descent from glory now that protagonist-kun isn't around anymore. Now everyone hates them and they have to sell their equipment and they act like belligerent little shits and they get arrested and bad mouthed by royalty and stuff.
