Something interesting in last month's WD. It has lore about the newest Hive Fleet in the setting, hive fleet Typhon. The lore article says it's the strangest hive fleet yet because it practices something no hive fleet ever did before which is cannibalising other hive fleets. One of its tactics is to wait for another hive fleet to weaken a world and then ambush the other hive fleet and each it and the invaded world.Tyranid experts. Any comments on this?

>>94782608Page 53 of WD 507 says that Hive fleet Typhon displays one significant behavior as yet unseen in other hive fleets. Both Imperial and Kin forces report witnessing Typhon cannibalizing other hive fleets. The tendrils of Typhon seem to be surrounding the other hive fleets and ambushing them in the middle of their devouring of worlds, eating both the worlds and the other fleets bioships.Did Tyranid fans gaslight us into thinking that cannibalism was common among the nids?
>>94782653Tyranids eating other hive fleets is the norm but it's not normal to go out of their way to eat other hive fleets.

Slaanesh exists because a species with large Warp presence willed her into being after millenia of utter depravity and degeneracy. How does the Tau Greater Good goddess exist? Her worshippers have less presence in the Warp, have been believing in her for far shorter of a time, and she has fewer believers all together. What happened?

>>94782914Pretty decent deal but a lot of units you're not going to be using
>>94782866They absolutely could, easily. In my headcanon they did, and the war in heaven is simply too massive in scale for one mind to comprehend
>>94782912GW and balance... two ships passing in the night.
Magnetization bros I'm not liking the looks of things on the Artillery Team sprues. The section where they cannons rotate is mounted to the frame instead of how it was on the FOBs where it was a separate piece you glued on.
>>94782930you don't need magnetize, the instructions literally tell you not to glue the guns in.
the old ones made the tyranids as a joke to harvest all of the biomass in the galaxy then throw themselves into the sun just to cuck the necrons one more time but they went full paperclip maximizer and started growing infinitely
>>94782913No, I get that. I know the Tau have infinitesimal Warp presence, if any at all. And I know their vassal races have varying degrees of it. I was asking how the Tau goddess was birthed with fewer and less powerful believers in a shorter amount of time than Slaanesh was, considering the latter took eons even though her upstart was the Aeldari, a much older and more numerous (at the time) race with a very large Warp presence.
>>94782920>lot of units you're not going to be usingthis executioner, heavies and hellblasters alone make it worth it to me. what units would not be used? i don't like aggressors
>>94782934Oh damn, you're right. Well shit.
>>94782950Not all gods are the same in scaleThe Tau goddess is like a single spark compared to the burning stars that are Slaanesh/Khorne/Nurgle/Emps
>>94782885>>94782950Slaanesh required that because the Eldar had practically conquered the immaterium, the prince of pleasure skipped being a minor chaos god, and blew a hole into reality, breaking a glass celling as it were. The False Emperor can summon Deamons into the materium, Gork and Mork can appear to non-believers and just don't summon deamons for no reason (gw pls).
>>94782969>functioning shell loading hatchits the little things.
What character?
>>94782950Even the first human murder is manifested in the warp, so things don't have to reach a threshold to become real, they differ in potency instead. The birth of Slaanesh was magnitudes more devastating, too, like a violent orgasm. The tauva thing is much smaller in scale, like a drawn-out noiseless fart.

>TQBetween all the aspect warriors, probably DAs since they do a good job of having that elite look
>>94782596>Tyranid experts. Any comments on this?It is not the first time that the tyranids cannibalise each other, although it usually happened when they met, after they destroyed an enemy, as a method to select the best and redistribute resources fast; while in hive fleet hydra we had an example of a fleet specifically hunting other fleets, sorta like a way to recollect all the excessively fragmented splinter fleets into a more useful larger whole; this method representing perhaps one of the few the hive mind has to make a splinter fleet's biomass useful since not all of them are successful enough to grow into sizable fleets and instances of seamless flightless fusions of different fleets are unheard of.In typhon the novelty seems to be about waiting purposefully for the other fleet, and not necessarily a smaller one, and attacking it before it or the prey got completely erodedbut it's important to avoid projecting one point of view over another when interpreting the situation because the different fleets, while acting mostly separate, are still part of a greater and largely coordinated wholewhat one might see as typhon acting selfishly and betraying another fleet could perfectly be reread as another fleet acting selflessly and weakening an enemy and then letting that enemy and itself as an easy meal for typhonwe have seen not too dissimilar selfless "rearing" behaviours in other fleets recently, for example hive fleet kronos is so focused on hunting chaos targets, most devoid of the ideal amount and type of biomass for an optimal growth of the fleet, that other fleets have attacked planets and left them helpless and sometimes predigested, planets on the path of kronos that the fleet would have normally ignored, so that it could swoop in for an absurdly quick and efficient meal
Is admech good yet?
>>94783137to me this behaviour reads as a hasty upbringing for typhonthe hive mind sees some promising characteristic in it and is escalating its growth by sacrificing other fleets, this may be an even more rapid growth compared to the rearing behaviour shown towards kronos, because less useful, but not necessarily smaller, fleets get filtered in the meanwhile while leaving typhon to still pick up expertise from their fight and from a wounded, but still fighting prey, this measured and controlled amount of conflict is sure to help typhon perfect and evolve its bioformsif typhon's nomen is an omen, then it might be a veritable threat soon enough

How do I tell the difference between resin casts and prints?>Does it really matter Probably not but I was curious.
>>94784998Resin is a distinctly different color to plastic and is more malleable (hot water is enough to get it bendy). 3d prints, it depends on the method. PLA is distinctly layered and the other way with the liquid bin has a lot of marks where the supports connected
>>94784998casts will have moldlines usually, and unless they're cheap prints casts will be more brittleprints might have aliasing artifacts that look like layer lines on curved areas
>>94784998Plastic glue won't work on resin, for one.
>>94785020>3d prints, it depends on the method. PLA is distinctly layered and the other way with the liquid bin has a lot of marks where the supports connectedWell then in that case it looks like the Crimson Lords bits I got were PLA, since they're the exact same color as GW plastic. Obviously they need a little cleaning up but the overall detail seems pretty nice.
>>94784998I'd put my money on prints cause these look like support nubs

>>94785046I wouldn't worry about the print method, as long as the details are visible and the plastic doesn't turn to dust at a hint of pressure you're good. Just rinse it as a precaution

I love old kits as they are so easy to chop up and customise. I feel comfortable slicing one up to make new poses, or cut off a hand then cut the bayonet off the gun to give a sword hand, then customise the helmet easily too.A new model of a dark eldar with a sword arm would blow this one out of the water, but I made this one so easily and he'll be unique within my army. Almost all of the models I put together from old kits are pretty unique.New kits are so complex and fit together like a puzzle, kitbashes or conversions require godly foresight.

>>94786665le imperium is le evilyeah whatever redditor they're pretty bad if you're a lowbrow caveman who looks at them from the perspective of a 21st century onions enthusiast. but if we were 40,000 years in the future and our other options were becoming body slaves to extradimensional hell gods or being food for an alien i'd take my chances with the imperium

>>94786699Anon went from a broken record to just plain broken.
>>94786579Consider this, daemon refresh and the furies are redesigned to by like the pre-classical Greek design of the Medusa, as a more monsterous version of classical greek fury design.
Do you have other hobbies besides warhammer? I can't find any common interests I have with normies. I worked with a guy that seemed to obsess over football until I asked him why his favorite team was alabama and he explained he just needed something to talk to people about so one year he started watching football and alabama won that year. Is this all that being a normie is? I've tried to talk to people about warhammer to no avail

Just finished up a 40k doubles tournament with my oops all scions list. I'm still sort of learning how to be good at this game, but only made like 2 big misplays all day. Pretty good gaming.

>>94787049Actually, this guy is wrong, your supplies and equipment may be better than you'd expect in the guard, but make no mistake you're going to be sent into hysterically bad odds for the sake of another 'more important mission' with 'more critical' troops. If you somehow miraculously survive, expect an award and to do it again. If you miraculously survive twice, expect to be thrown in with the regulars. Congratulations, you're going to be doing the same thing you were doing as an auxillary, but with an actual pulse rifle this time.Do it close to a dozen times and you might get to see the inside of a battle suit. Congratulations, it's the same shit you were doing before, but even riskier. If you survive doing it about a dozen dozen times, expect to be retired to a propaganda post resettling human refugees or proselytizing about your wonderful life in the empire and how your service uplifted you from being a backwards and superstitious ape into an instrument of 'The Greater Good".
>>94786797vidya muay thai boxing books and horticulture are my main interests. it's always freaks me out when someone tells me their hobbies are "idk watching netflix" or something similar. i don't know how people don't have hobbies but it's surprisingly common. i get manic if i just sit around every day

>>94788808More like the commissars will be converted to the cult forcibly. All it takes is just to kidnap the guy and then force him to take the genestealer's "kiss".
