>>94794152>TQFinal Fantasy TCG, The theme is low polly 3d models from the PS2
>>94794185>low polly 3d models>from the PS2...PS1, you mean? PS2 wasn't low poly.
>>94794316I did mean the PS1, but PS2 is also comparatively low polly (If I can see the pollygons on the card art it's low polly).
>>94794185The fact that it's just the character art against a blank background is just so fucking hideous.
Even with draw 2 per turn GA resource system is shit
>>94796126I like the idea of it, it's very interesting, but definitely needs a lot of extra work, and a lot of different interactions, not just have it be "mana but in a different zone". I thought drawing into memroy was an interesting balance between card draw and cost.
I will NOT read the spoilers
>>94796672I hope everyone has a wonderful day today.
>>94795982>just the character art against a blank backgroundthat *can* work but it takes some effort on the composition, pic relatedand FFTCG had some great art too. PS1 screencaps were one end of the spectrum, but they also had cover and character art from paintings and high def renders to Amano's watercolors. what killed it was the art being so inconsistent, and the frames/layout being so lazy.
>>94797217Fair. I guess my issue is that all the FFTCG stuff I've seen is just someone standing stock still. At least Ashes has stuff in dynamic poses to make it more visually appealing.I also think k it works better for Ashes because it has a cohesive art style, while FFTCG is all over the place.
>>94794316To be fair PS2 had a massive graphical transition over its lifespan.
Is this real? I can't tell because I don't have any flagship cards and I've seen many fakes out there for prize cards like this
>>94797791Bro I can't even read that shit of course it's not real.
>>94797791Looks pretty good to me, the "corporal stamp" looks good and it has the bottom stamp too next to the typing, from what I understand most fakes dont bother with good card backs, try to compare with some legit ones.
>>94797788personally I think even the day 1 ps2 games don't count as low poly
This place sorely needs some new blood. Here's the freshest it comes.
Dracs gonna drac.
Why yes, Draconics do possess the best cards, how did you know?
>tfw you're not going to Poland for the world premiere Rosetta was not an exciting set for me but the event was an unforgettable limited experience.
>>94794152If you could resurrect a dead tcg from the 90s with a new release which one would you pick?
any of you who knows how to draw,? I bet you can make beautiful art if your own tcg
>>94800341I'm good at street/pop art in traditional mediums; so markers, watercolor, pens, pencils and paint. I don't know if that whole style can carry a game, but you could more easily have unique 1of1 artist cards with that kinda setup.
>>94800442cool knowing how to draw is good. I ad in mind what the japanese artist do (they draw cool robots monsters and waifu) but I also like old westerner style like old magic for exemple
Oh boy, another parasitic set where the new tier 0 deck will be made up of Estrike, CnC, and new set mythics! Oh wait, Fai still exists for the two week it'll take him to LL
from all the card game you've played, which one was the best?
>>94800784We just went through the engoodening of blue archetypes which resulted in tier zero heroes running train on the meta, now we're being not-so-subtly reminded that RED CHEERIOS GO-AGAIN was were the real threat to the game's balance lies.
>>94800104when did the metabots tcg come out? I'd pick that. Surprisingly fun and quick to play. I got a bunch of cards at a con in 06? and played a bunch of rounds with friends. it was a fun couple games.
>>94800806Artifact.No I'm not trolling, it was the most fun, fight me.
>>94800980whaat made it fun to you?
>>94801086I liked the variety of heroes, the three lanes you couldn't interact with well all at once, and the slow speed of play. It needed another couple sets before it would have been really good, but the base gameplay was top tier.It should have been f2p with purchased cards from the start, but Volvo is autistic, so it goes.Warlord, Ashes, and Keyforge are all also games I'd put as top tier gameplay. I only really play lorcana these days because fuck big 3 & Bandai leaves me with nothing else I want to play. Someday I'll get Fan-Z going at my LGS, maybe.
>>94801171What about the rng? I played some but to me Artifact at its best was an unpolished gem at worst it was like a homemade tcg that a kid would make.
Bandai Card Fest Japan promos (alt art resource cards)
>>94801183Needed a balance patch for sure, but the rng was as designed - like keyforge - rather than a bug. If the swing between "worst outcome" and "best outcome" was closer due to better card balance, it wouldn't matter so much. Early game rng is/was the real killer, but the time you get to 7 or 8 mana in any game, you've seen enough cards that bad rng will only matter a single digit percentage of the time unless your deck sucks, or there's cards that are head and shoulders above the rest.
>>94801342Hmmmm, if it was designed like that, then i would say the game was badly designed. For me at least, it had too much and too many rng. It had coinflip cards where the effects had hard 50% chances to simply do nothing. The creeps were placed randomly AND they attacked randomly which could mess up your plans. The card designs were also pretty uninspired to me. I'm not in love with Dota, but i thought you could have done something more with the heroes. I did like the three lanes system and the win conditions.
>>94800806If you thought it was possible to answer that, why would you keep trying new games or coming back here to talk about them? there are lots of different ways for a game to be great, and no game can do all of them.>>94800980I wasn't very impressed by it, but you do you anon.
>>94800341>>94800442one artist doing all the art for a card game is a big project. rare in general even among the LCGs and practically unheard-of for TCGs.
>>94800806Codex. Anyone who says anything else is wrong.
>>94801625Anybody want graffiti art?
>>94801224is the game good?
>>94800980Shame what Valve did to the playerbase.
>>94803025game isn't officially out yet they are just doing beta events at conventions and LGS
>>94803500oh ok does the game looks great so far?
>>94804144It's bandai, anon. you know exactly what you're getting.
>>94804200>you know exactly what you're getting.A swift kick in the jewels after the hype moves on?
Pardon me, just giving free an ferocious power to one of the deadliest classes in the game.
The warrior extended card isn't nearly as goated as ignite.
The Fang is getting the shaft from Cindra. You heard it here first.
>>94804439Ignite, break fealty token, attack with this = 2.5 card NINE DAMAGE! Imagine if you have another pair of these cards plus one source of goagain; you could make it 18 damage.Man, fuck the golden child syndrome of this game. Do you now what kind of bullshit deck luck you have to get to have to get an 18 damage arrow turn off with zero resources? I don't, you have to pay for everything as ranger and gimp your own deck to do big numbers.
is flesh and blood good?>>94804200ok
>>94804534Yeah, I like it, but everything about the release schedule allows classes to dry up on the vine (alongside many, many useless duds in Blitz) and feel useless against sparky and his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th new chew toy in a year (YOUR favorite class probably had to buy a full deck for a measly card or two update).
Also the game has a fetish for tournament grinders who can travel world wide, and showers them with playmats new card art and exclusive HEROES(!!!) that you won't see pre LL in a boxed product. If you only play locals you've been getting less and less as the money dries up and next month the store armory system is changing to be prize cards only, no mats no posters no extra goodies. Oh and they unbanned the most annoying deck in the game after users had their feelings hurt that they could only stomp locals for 1 month.
>>94804534Yeah it's probably the most solid base for mechanics I've seen in a long time. I love the skeleton of the game, but the release structure is so chaotic that you kinda are a hostage to the whims of LSS waiting on support for your preferred class or . Sometimes the wait pays off, like it is now for Bad Dragon stuffers. Oh my God are they eattin good right now. AssAssins got the juice too. But we weren't aware this set existed until the previous season of release died down 3 months ago. You just kinda roll with the surprises in this game and pray James White deemed your waifu or husbando worthy of upgrades every release.
Battle Hour was cancelled. Was supposed to have Masters nationals and worlds as well as Fusion World worlds.
>>94804534It's a great game mechanically, but the result of attrition + low RNG + high skill ceiling is that it's brutal for new players - though at least feels like you're being competitive even if you have no shot to win, most games. But the better player will win in 90% of games, assuming both players have meta decks, which results in a brutal learning curve. It's also way too expensive to build a meta deck, and the last year of releases have followed the pattern of releasing almost exclusively cards for new heroes in that set, one of which becomes tier 0, and none of which will likely see any more direct support ever again: I'd guess they're never going to be printing new Mystic Illusionist cards, for example.End result is a great game where you lose every game for the first 6 months you play, and have to spend thousands of dollars to meta chase and hundreds of games of practice to ever get to reliable 50% win rate.
>>94804565To speak to your first point, that was kind of Jame White's whole vision... He toured the world to play magic. WOTC stopped doing that, but he certainly had fond memories of that aspect of a living breathing game, so he decided to make that his reality. He was so proud during each and every flag ceremony because it's validation that he's made it, he chased that dream to the ends of the earth. So making that a very enticing and rewarding experience was top priority for him to get there. Who knows what will change with global events, but I foresee them getting big enough they run multiple WORLD PREMIERE events in every region so they can catch the widest amount of playerbase as possible, and celebrating their most accomplished format, blind limited. So yeah, he does favor convention goers, because he wants everyone to have the experience he did.
>>94804781A little hard to get people into your game when you tell them the local experience is not worth having, does not feed into the pro circuit anymore, and if they want to play they ought to begin by playing on talishar, then buying singles and bus tickets to Houston for Skirmish Season 32 featuring Living Legend and Team Draft Blitz Bash with the optional UPF side event. But sure, Im positive the 5 players who show up to lose to slowplaying teenage ranger players are having a blast
>>94800104Doomtrooper, with updated art to reflect changes in the IP.>>94800806The best? Not sure. I probably had the most fun playing Alien Vs. Predator, but that was formative years and happy memories with my older brother before he became a deadbeat.>>94804534Mechanically it's great fun. Sadly it does tend to draw a far more competitive crowd, at least where I live. As a kitchen table type gamer it's just not fun to go and get roflstomped by someone who just copied the current metadeck.>>94804144I think it looks promising. Bandai's track record aside it seems solid enough. My real worry is that Bandai will pull a Bandai and underprint and it'll get scalped to hell and back.
>>94804829Stores were dumping the promos into the trash and using the mats to demo magic. I have fucking seen it. They cut costs because they're losing a lot of money on failed armory kits that don't get utilized as LSS intended. Shitty LGS burned that fucking bridge, and I'm pissed. So fuck you, now it's literally star wars unlimited tier; an equal chance blindbag, that won't curl because the fat fucking store owners are too stupid to place them in something that isn't the dusty exposed corner of their rat's nest office. Also Dragons are wack. This shit is busted, even at Legendary. So you have defense reactions that draw you cards for free, AND now an instant drawspell enabler that is a free card if you're playing the talent as intended. You guys know this will make for degenerate runaway games.Extra go again, cost reduction card draw... Weren't we just in an agreement that the game was tamping down on explosive and unfair card advantage?
>>94804863Draw-a-card-onic suddenly OK if ninjas do it. Also, in the kit, the posters were changed from foil to paper before being reduced in number and then literally shrunk down in size before their removal. I gave out all the shit at my LGS, but I can understand why they're changing (Pokémon has the same model of prize packaging and hands out more promos that kids want for less, I know the comparison is not fair but this year we handed out bookmarks, stickers galore, extra cards, halloween decoration, and deck boxes. Lorcana is similar)
Still not reading the spoilers, i want to experience the full novelty of the hunted all at once
>>94804963This guy gets it. Put some lava flow footage on in the background and don't give in to temptation.
>>94804534if you need your game to be an active TCG (with all the good and bad that goes with that), then yeah it's a pretty well designed one. very expensive though. the publisher does a lot of shady shit with their rarity scheme and market manipulation to keep prices high.
>>94805069>the publisher does a lot of shady shit with their rarity scheme and market manipulation to keep prices high. That's called a no reprint policy, and many card games follow suit. They actually want desirable collectibles, so they don't nuke their value by printing a functionally same card but wacky marketable IP slapped over top of it. If you're insinuating they set the price, HUGE L O L at that, because the market decides fucking everything. Staples like Command & Concur are desirable because you can buy those cards and compete in the highest levels of organized play for cash and fabulous prizes. They aren't printing new ones except for momentous promos that are often so exclusive they have almost zero impact on the price of the original printings of the given card.
>>94805166>we have special words for our scumbag behavior so it doesn't countnone of that changes the fact that the game is very expensive to play. in general terms, a competitive deck for FAB will cost you as much as 2 or 3 competitive decks for other TCGs, and more than a complete collection for most LCGs.
>>94805166Except we've had three printings of CnC already. So, clearly, LSS aren't against the idea of reprinting cards.I think they should ban it and Enlightened Strike just to shake shit up.
>>94804891Draw a card has always been OK, it's netting cards that they explicitly curtailed, i.e. Drawing 2+
>>94805166Nothing to do with reprints, everything to do with making the necessary-to-play legendary cards 1/96 packs, and mythics barely better at 1 in 6 packs. Rares and commons are truly and utterly worthless, even the ones that see play. And there's no collector market to speak of - it's all tournament grinders - so most foils have like a 1.1x multiplier if any at all, resulting in all the value of a set ending up in a handful of cards.
>>94805273Notice how all of them are different treatments and in decreasing quantity from when they were first incepted.Original, White border history, a fabled and a very extremely limited championship prize for making your hero win in their given release season. Only one of those saw mass print. The other one is less desirable but still shorter print run than before. This reprint had lower backend prices for the white border, but now they've caught up in price because of their scarcity. The fable was a mother loving cherry on top of never reprinting it again. Then they had the championship prize card that was a total organic surprise and not entirely planned. To be clear their reprint policy is this:We reserve the right to do special foil promos but otherwise your cards are not seeing mass reprints in original treatments. Thems the breaks for you complaining they reprinted it, because they were clear from the getgo this was how they would handle reprints. >>94805316If you hate rarity why are you playing tcgs to begin with?
>>94805482>blocks your path
>>94805482>if you hate rarityFuck off James, there's a big difference between "rarity scale" and "single legendary in every fourth box". If you don't see how having mechanically unique cards that are 1/96 for a single card from a pool of the ~8 highest impact cards of a set is a problem, you're retarded.
>>94805625It's every 4.2 boxes actually. You can open no legendary sealed cases. >>94805611It's a generic legendary and they refuse to print a sidegrade. What can I say? It was their experiment at meeting player demand, and yet the originals are still coveted. I've honest stepped away from price checking fab for a whole year, I thought this would look dramatically different but in the end the market set the value of the best gearpiece in the game.
post yfw rangerfags don't get support for yet another set
God damn it, another head. I wanted to run helm of the sharp eye with Fang. That card will never see play now.
>>94805845I know that feel
Here's how our girl is doing. 44% overall winrate. She can dumbster mechs most of the time, but not always, most are close to 60/40 or lower odds. She also dunks on wizards occasionally. Apart from that her winrate of the current top rated decks is fucking trash.
Holding out hope for Axe support or Rok 2.0
>>94794152Has the series ever shown them lighting up witht he DX phone like in the card? I know they use the dx prop much more in the second half but I never saw it lightup.
>>94805966there's clearly some dori cards showing up in the spoiler season, so here's hoping you get something for axes too.
>>94805958>trap ranger has a 61% winrate on the original gangster These results seem fucky to me, I haven't lost a game to Riptide since I've sided in Dreadbore. His entire gimmick is shut down by an equipment choice, and the effect is passive!
You guys want to see something depressing? I have proof ranger is the least respected 'officially launched in draft' class to date. Discounting the LL'd elementalist ranger, you have 2 heroes and less than 200 ranger cards you can play with, in classic and blitz. I hate how absolutely stupid LSS is at managing an even spread of options across the existing archetypes. Assassin has existed for nearly half as long as Ranger has and has more cards now, before the hunted comes out, assigned to them. If the next set has no rangers or actual ranger support this is fucking grim, man.
any FF tcg player here? I need advice on what beginner deck to pick up and also is making a deck is expensive?
"FUCKRANGERS" - James White, probably
>>94806463Unironically he hates the class. It's always been an afterthought and the lore revolves around rune fuckers, shield wallers and slippery ninjas. They hate us, and they're not going to suddenly make it alright with future expansion slots and armory decks; one of which had 6 unique cards in it (LMFAO), and the other averages out as 2 per expansion list.
Now this one I like. Especially if it is available in all colors.
>>94806612unironically speaking I like tcgs with beautiful visuals and illustrations. if I donnt find them appealing I won't play
>>94794152Is the upcoming Gundam TCG likely to receive long term support? I've really enjoyed playing it thus far, but I'm concerned that's it's just another cash grab by Bandai.
>>94806701Digimon is the longest running modern Bandai card game and it's starting to flag pretty hard. I'd say 5 years is probably the best you can hope for both support and player base to survive, but you never know. The main money maker is going to be the miniatures game, I'd expect that to have a larger and longer term following, with the tcg just positioned to double-dip on brand hype.
>>94806701It's possible. The thing with Gundam is there's a nearly endless supply of cards to make if they're willing to dip into MSV and Mangas. And with new series coming out they can always add more shit. So, that being said, I think as long as they don't fuck up the distribution and under print it has a decent chance to go for a while.
>>94806701Bandai has shown excessive support for their tcgs of late. BSS is still getting releases depsite (glances) $15 booster boxes, and they're even still making stuff for Masters despite literally rebooting the line into FW. Bandai grabs at a lot of cash, but pump-and-dump game lines aren't one of them.
I wrote a nice guide in layman's terms on how to collect MetaZoo cards if you are interested in getting into it as a collector. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQShElEnEN3xMI0cjTnrjJAyhHXaOdlFXw_RgDH0dvofX3cyslb4MeYq9UIfdg0MFCS6XbjlKyL7h0-/pub
Did anyone here ever play Grotto Beasts when it came out? I know it was basically just a meme but I'm curious if it was any fun or if there's been anyone that wanted more of them to be made.
>>94808066>BSS is still getting releases depsite (glances) $15 booster boxes>the most expensive products are the eva collaborationsKEKis early bss less dull than current union arena? I want something to play with my younger cousins.
>>94808824BSS is great. The resource management is really interesting.
>>94794152Gonna have to get me one of these
>>94809166s'ok.I prefer the white haired one
>>94808234Wasn't MetaZoo a scam?I mean, more of a scam than the average TCG.
>>94805984i just looked through the series a bit to check and im pretty sure it never looks like in the card. i think that design might be merch only. i never noticed the phone looking strange or noticed it as the DX prop, but maybe im just unobservant. it normally looks just like my csm... the DX phone looks pretty chunky.
>>94808824I didn't like BSS but it's got a lot more going on than UA, hands down.
>>94808824Early BSS sans Axebiter/Depths is very fun. All four starter colours are viable.
>>94794185I think .hack//enemy also does this
>>94809708nah, it was about an average amount of scam for a TCG.definitely scammier than pokemon or digimon (which is what you'd most likely compare it to), but less scammy than say FAB or MTG.people didnt really hate it because it was a scam. they hated it because the game was ass and it looked like dogshit.
>>94810365>meta zoo>less of a scam than FABNo one is going to believe that. Metazoo was the biggest rug pull of the decade and FAB is internationally loved and successful. Get your head out of your meta ass.
>>94810742>FAB is internationally lovedlittle too much there, James. you outed yourself.
>>94810793We've got an avoidant man-baby here trying to brag that it should've been Metabooty that celebrated its 5th year anniversary by getting nerds laid in Japan instead of Flesh and Blood. Time to face facts, your scam can't hurt anyone now that the criminal is out of the bag.
Why is every talking about Digimon like its the oldest bandai tcg? Masters still has sets planned and is over 7 years old. Its not good at all or anything but were you really expecting that with >bandai
>>94810742>>94810365>>94809708Metazoo was a scam that went way further than intended. It was supposed to be a one-and-done cash-in on the covid cardboard craze, and then it snowballed with tournaments and big box sales which showed how weak it was on a fundamental level, the income dried up and the ponzi scheme of paying out big prizes dried up, and eventually they shuttered to avoid creditors.
>>94810882>thinks the anon calling metazoo "dogshit" and "ass" was a metazoo shillyou FABshitters give delusion a whole new meaning

New UPF bait
>>94811595This is fucking tragic. Ally based heroes on suicide watch. Just straight up boardwipe, for free, no way to save yourself.
>>94811653More classes should have an "AOE" move that can hit multiple targets on one board or multiple heroes imo
>>94811714I just think it's typical power wanking to have a card that counters an entire archetype before they even had a chance to shine. "I'm an assassin, that means I have zero weaknesses." In short, passing out silver bullets to everyone before werewolves are even a threat is silly to me and unnecessary.
>>94811796>1hp ally decksPrism and Dromai LL'd a long time ago, but I agree assassin should have an identity beyond "counters u lol". Uzuri or even Riptide are a little closer to the ideal to me for their ambush tactics, Arakni doesn't have much identity (go figure) beyond "chaotic bag of annoying tricks".
>>94811595>assassin>trap>the "trap" appears to consist of there being spiders everywhere? somehow?>the whole area is, seemingly unrelated, entirely on fire>the assassin is *entering* the area, and the soldiers garb matches the buildings, so it's not like some hideout where they preplaced spiders, this was an *offensive* trap (somehow)>yet, the card damages all enemies, that have damaged you (....?)>it's called Anaphylactic Shock, which means specifically an allergic reaction, not some kind of fast-acting venom >or maybe the spiders are as unrelated as the fire and the soldiers all ate shellfish? it honestly makes more sense, fire whichever general hired exclusively men with peanut allergies >still not clear how that would be triggered only by attacking the assassin though
>>94811938Another stunner from under the direction of SamDoesArt ladies and gentlemen
>>94811953"Vengeful Firebreathing Immunocompromising Spider Swarm" didn't fit on the card probably
>>94811381Yeah, I'll stick to tokens. But also, isn't that argument kinda pointless? Bases come in two healths: 30 with no ability, and 25 with ability. So if it has a text box or not is enough to tell you the health right there. Unless I missed something and there's a base with some weird ass health value.
>>94812150nah, there's 26 and 24 now
>>94811938Simple, the assassin was full of spiders, when they got hit the spiders came out and bit the people
>>94812197Really? Huh. Not sure how I missed that.
>"let's see how /acg/ is doing">spoilers of clearly overtuned cards for Funds and Bills>Overpriced, underdesigned chinkshit from FFG>"metazoo was a real game designed for real players">people expecting anything but deck churn and money grubbing from Bandai
All you guys do is talk about alternate card games (actually scams), I only play the most indie shit possible with 100% good gameplay, Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon.
>>94812241they fucking suck so don't bother remembering them ever again
>>94812507Suggestion box is empty for solutions to the current thread decline

>>94815421>>94816458pretty bad take.I'm not nearly as high on codex as that anon, but it's a solid game with a lot of original mechanics. by the standards of this general where you routinely get anons championing the slop TCG of the week, it might as well be that good. I wouldn't put it in the top tier with the likes of netrunner or oL5R, but it's well worth playing for anons who enjoy a well designed game. and like most of the not!LCGs, still probably cheaper to buy all in than an average comp TCG deck.the hearthstone comparison borders on nonsensical. even comparing it to WoWTCG would be a stretch. they obviously both have warcraft DNA but the nearest common ancestor is pretty blatantly WC3. even for anons too young to have played blizzard RTSs I'm not sure how you could miss that.
>>94817986>>94817982Thanks anon, you're alright
Am I justified in immediately writing off a game if it has a playmat with zones and trackers that seem important for gameplay? Like there's probably some interesting design you can do if you have that as well as just your cards but my gut instinct is that the game must suck if they're resorting to that.
>>94818192hard to say what "justified" means in this context, but you're allowed to have preferences. not sure why you think you need permission for that.like I could point to >>94818045 Codex, or Summoner Wars, both of which need mats/boards to play easily. or games like pixel tactics, blue moon, omen, or gudnak that don't strictly need mats with zones marked out but definitely like having them, and say "hey anon, I think these are good games". I have a bit of a hateboner for token spam and extra components on general principal too, so for me that also means "I think these do enough with the extra components to justify including them". but fuck, you can have your own opinion. or just refuse to try things with elements you know you hate. why would you let other anons tell you how to enjoy your hobby?
>>94818192>seem important for gameplay?>seemI'd be careful about that. Often the playmats are just for babby' first playthru and most players use alternative tracking methods and the zones are imaginary. If playmats are such a turn off for you, look at anyone playing the game at a tournament and see how many people actually use them. They're usually just in starter sets for instructional purposes.
>>94818486often, but I assume anon was talking about games where that's not the case.
>>94818192I think few games really need playmats with clearly listed zones, but sometimes they can be helpful. I think FaB using zones on their mats makes a lot of sense and keeps player boards uniform. Lorcana? Maybe not so much. And there are so many places to get mats from these days that, whatever your preference, you can find what you want.
Now this I'm entirely down with. Block 4 damage three times in a row perfectly with this in hand and 3 blocking cards filling out the rest. It almost makes up for the degenerate shit this set will get up to on the combat chain.

>>94819109Sometimes I care about certain matchups, or seeing a rogue deck list shred face against the odds. I enjoy hearing about events I couldn't personally attend, feeling like I can be a part of it even halfway across the world. There's times where I really enjoyed it and there's times I did exactly what you said and waited for it to be over so I could skip (mostly when it's oops all the same hero in the top brackets). Then the Assassin who poisoned their food just casually walks in while everyone is screaming and does whatever it was he came to do.Still doesn't explain why it kills everything though.
There's also times I watch and I'm angry, like how judges let this absolute weasel cheat on live stream. The crowd called him out on it, and then they decide it's too big of a deal to roll the turns back because this faggot would've lost and he's a popular player. That was probably the last straw that made me only check in and not follow them from start to finish. Context:This fag plays gotcha characters in every game he stinks up, glass cannon types that either win big or lose horribly. He is on his way into the semi finals, having a lucky matchup all day, but finally he ends up on the ropes and the opponent had him down to his second pitch stack. In order to get to the stacked cards he needed to win the game he had to survive a few rounds of combat where he did nothing else. As he's getting closer to his winning hand, there's an attack that he NEEDS to land as he makes a swing back at the opponent, giving him the ability to kill a powerful aura on the field. In order to do this he activates his arm gear piece and incorrectly buffs a ZERO damage spell to make it deal damage, which is something you technically cannot do in the game as a zero damage attack source is not a source to be buffed at all, and he knows this because he only plays cheeseball builds. Well he uses his gloves, buffs it to 1 damage and sneaks by killing off the scary aura the illusionist was building up all game. The chat lights the fuck up saying YOU CAN'T BUFF FROM ZERO TO ONE! Two whole turns go by of judges doing nothing, even though they are reading chat and are hovering over these semi finalists. At last they make a time out for a judgement call as the seether reaches critical mass. In the end he worms his way out of it by saying "I have never ever ever ever ever encountered the rule that says you can't buff zero damage sources." So the judges, unable to roll the boardstate back, allow him to proceed. The following turn he draws into his pitched winning hand and scoops the event.
>>94819221Then he makes a rant on youtube about how he would've fought the judgement call tooth and nail anyways even if they disqualified him, and sent his angry rats nest full of fans against the game. This fucker ruined the competitive spirit for me. Bragging about it to his followers makes him an extra large scumbag and it betrays the sanctity of competitive play.
>>94819221>So the judges, unable to roll the boardstate back, allow him to proceed.Seeing how more and more people cheat in various tournaments, I like how digimon is just 0 tolerance. If you cheat or even accidentally draw/see too many cards or do anything that can't be fixed, it's a direct game loss
>>94819294The Judges have honestly dropped the ball to many times it's unreal. James White is extremely lax on rules enforcement.
>>94819233I think the worst part about this is that he is only a top competing pro player because he cheats and no one knows better. If he played the character correctly he wouldn't have the same track record. Think of how many people out there do not know the rule of buffing zero sources; he angle shoots that crap all day long and collects the prize winnings as a reward. Fuck competitive players.

>>94821397>>94821397I used to poo poo on the rarity system however after cracking packs and getting cards in my hands, I can definitively say that the rarity system does fucking suck.I’m trying to build a purple deck a that color fucking sucks with its base cards so you NEED color shifted cards (which are all rare.) to make a good deck. Now the gameplay is killer. You can jam some really good games with the starters. I know I just bitched about the rates but honestly every color other than purple can build a solid deck with just commons.
>>94818045The core design of the game is literally built on the back of hearthstone, maybe you haven't played enough games where you can realize things like that.I disagree that it's well designed, it's clunky and hard to get anyone to play anyway. >>94822319Oh, okay. I opened a pack today and got Baba's Isba and was really disappointed it was purple. I had Lyra, the harp starter deck, instead. I realise now that thematically, Lyra is probably the one I like the least, but it wasn't particularly clear what each deck was themed around from the box. Purple seems really cool, but I now know to avoid it, so thanks. Blue seems cool too.Yeah, I immediately thought the weird rarity thing would suck dick. I'll try the game out, but it seems really bizarre that you can just giga-stack the full-arts and have a objectively better deck than someone that has the same deck as you. What's with the "scan your cards on the app!" thing? Can multiple people scan the same card? I'm not sure I fully follow. My friend wanted to trade me all his pink harps for my green knots, but I think he's scanned them all already. It seems super bizarre.
New Ashes starter set on the horizon.
>>94823041interesting. talking about it as a 2nd entry point implies they're gonna keep the current big box too? might be an all-in-one for the solo/coop stuff.
>>94822845You can only run a max of 15 rares and 3 uniques. Also no more than 3 cards with the same name regardless of rarity. I will say that Lyra (Pink) is an acquired taste but it has some of the more fun effects. I would switch off of the leader the starter gives you either of the other ones. Also, to clarify, Yzmir (purple) is not bad, it just takes the most dedicated collecting to get going IMO. It needs very specific rares to cover its gaps. You might end up pulling them. Right now the scanning thing does not matter because they’ve shit the bed on the digital marketplace. However if you do care about that and he’s your friend just have them gift them to your account in the app.

The short analysis indicates the Hunted is the best set they have printed in over a year. Good value, good mechanics, good designs: there's very little to be disappointed over this time besides the narrow class and talent focus.

>>94824525They said it will be totally compatible with two new schools of magic and a new co-op/solo bit so you can try both competitive and co-op right out of the box.>>94827244What the fuck would make them think this is a good idea? It's not going to bring down the cost of the Majestic version by any appreciable amount (if at all) and this will just be an even more expensive version making playsets for comp decks even more fucking expensive.I like FaB, but my God LSS makes some weird decisions sometimes.
>>94827423The reprint was needed, dude. There's an entire class that makes you inject 6 physical attacks into your deck to counter them. Consider the fact you have shitty classes like ranger caught with exactly one 6 arrow in 5 years of development of the game and the need for a 6 to justify putting them into your deck is great.
>>94827495The reprint is needed, but making it a legendary is as good as not printing it at all.
>>94827931There's two versions of it. There's going to be enough to make a difference.
>>94827980>There's two versions of it. There's going to be enough to make a difference.Anon, it's an (L) in the expansion slot not a main set card. It's not getting printed in the volumes you're hoping.
>>94828028Why would they bother to make two versions AND shortprint both?
>creates marked>If marked do +1 or Go Again >it's actually just a combo system and impacts very little of the game mechanics >create Chaos talent>it's entire gimmick was used to have a hero with six card arts swapping in and out plus a pro player wank card that drags ass to actually resolve it I did NOT see that coming. LSS is the King of TCG subversion.
>>94827495Yes, a reprint was indeed needed. What wasn't needed was making it an even higher rarity than it was before.
>>94827211It honestly looks like a stronger set than Mistveil. I'm fucking hyped to play it
>>94828439It's beyond confirmed that LSS design in terms of hero-modules rather than at the level of class or talent. There is no long term vision for the talents, and there's barely any for the classes. LSS function on the "blow your whole load as soon as you have the idea" school of design. The game is fun but will never be more than the sum of its parts.
>>94828619I'm just tired, man. Their release schedule is fine, I don't want to be buried in mountains of products, but the way they advance the design scope of the game is getting to me. It's so fucking slow. There will never be a set like WTR or ARC ever again because they're too focused on blowing their whole load on flavor of the month wankery.
>>94828619>There is no long term vision for the talents, and there's barely any for the classes. LSS function on the "blow your whole load as soon as you have the idea" school of design.Dunno, this set already expands on stealth and dragonic talents so much and gives them depth that they never had before.
>>94828046To ideally pull value off the other legends and ensure there's something "for all classes" to chase in the set. Based on there being a full art version that is safely assumed to be the rarer version that's 1:10 cases rarity that was mentioned above, that's exactly what's happening, regardless of motive.
>>94828720Excuse me what? Draconic has had lots of exploration with a main set and a supplemental set already; fealty was created to solve their deficiency by making anything count towards your dragon chains. Stealth was included in Outsiders and then promptly neglected, yes, but Assassins have been growing ever since their introduction.
>>94828692I thought Rosetta was solid. The main disappointment being both wizards were basically runeblades. That aside it's a very clean and open set. Heavy Hitters was great too.
>>94826242Quickest rundown I can give is that the game has been out a year and it’s still not live. Set 2 drops the 30th and you have no meaningful way of using scanned cards other than tracking inventory.>>94827488Oh shit. I’m gonna buy Build Divide cards.
>>94828596At least there are some existing heroes who will be able to use a lot of these cards shown. More generics than Mistveil, anyways, and the talent/class combo already exists for Ninja.
>>94828720Draconic and Stealth are both so shallow though. They're both just "try to use multiples of this in a row". The set expands them by making it easier to have your whole deck trigger "if prior card has X word", but there's still not anything to them, unless I've missed spoilers. You don't get anything for pitching them or revealing them or having in arsenal or etc, just "if last attack in combat chain is X..." or "for each X in combo chain..." or the occasional "give Y card X"
>>94828855I follow flesh and blood very little but from what I can remember stealth doesn’t actually DO anything right? They are just some attacks that have the word stealth on them? You don’t get to like play them face down or hide them in anyway right? Do the get bonuses from Arsenal or anything?
>>94829224stealth is a requirement for other cards to provide bonuses, for example, theres an attack reaction that can only pump attacks with stealth
>>94826937I'm glad the new art looks shit
>>94828764My biggest issue with Rosetta is that the runeblades both outclass the wizards by a wide margin.Oscilio is very fun to play though, I'd just like him to actually hold a candle to aurora
>>94827488Finally an IP that doesnt make me cringe
>>94830408Isn't that the one were the clothes are alive and they're constantly munching on her privates every time she puts them on?
>>94828757Draconic never had a supplemental set. We've had supplemental cards but the only real Draconic support since Uprising was Tome of Imperial Flame as a one-off in Bright Lights. And stealth has been in every assassin set since Outsiders. Are you sure you're not thinking of Contracts?>>94828855Stealth's mechanic hasn't been "use multiples of this in a row" since Outsiders, and that was only with Arakni SC. Uzuri used it as a marker for a card that could potentially become a bigger card, Nuu used it as a thing that can potentially get more cards in banish for her, and there's a few attack reactions that only work on Stealth cards. Arakni Slippy does the same thing Arakni SC does, and Arakni Marionette is more about giving marking a more universal payoff. It's been pretty different in every CC variation of the mechanic.
>>94828780>other than tracking inventory.Yeah, so that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the heads-up, brother.
>>94830422He said IPs that don't give him the ick. This is his fetish.
Anyone else playing in their LGS Lorcana Set championship? What decks are you running?
>>94832236I wish... I was hospitalized for a few months and almost missed Azurite Sea completely, and I'm still not well enough to go to Set Championships. Not that I've even made a deck yet, mind you. I was hoping to muck around with a Ruby/Amber deck that used Moana and the 2 Sugar Rush Speedway locations to gain easy lore, while Minnie brought the finish line back from the discard every turn and Fix-It Felix bolstered my location's defenses. Not even sure if that strat would be viable, I haven't had a chance to test it.
>>94809708If I were to boil down "scam" accusations against the brand MetaZoo. I would say the scam was the distribution of products. since it was released durning te pandemic there was supply chain issues everwhere. including the TCG world. since its bankruptcy collapsed prices its no longer a scam. >>94810365Personally I disagree with this sentiment. call it pandering but they mainly focused on watercolors, just like the original pokemon cards. if you think its just a pokemon center focus with a decent background and most inportantly watercolors. I enjoy it personally because i am from that era. i like new designs, im not a fan of FAB, though they have some good designs, i think they are overrated. i wanted to pick up the chinese tiger, but that one i heard became meta again and its been hard to find. >>94810937I disagree with this. a scam wouldnt be this elaborate, they made mulptile sets. they made different products, if i could say 1 person was scamming and only wanted money it was Steve Aoki. would a scam go far enough to release a theme song for every set release? kinda alot of work for a mere scam if thats your definition. here is my favorite MZ song BTW. I unorinically have it on a playlist for work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-Y3kOLQ25s&ab_channel=MetaZooGamesYT
In fact what I had on my list was Crouching Tiger, Miragi, and Codex of Blood rot. like i said im not really a fan of the artwork. its too overcomplicated in my opinion, but they have made some nice looking artwork.
very weird artwork for a card.
>>94832501>and they never repeated it ever again I mean the balls on this cardgame studio. They just try anything and even if it was cool they move on to something new for the next set.
There is only 1 ONE juan won lorcana card worth collecting if you have balls and not a vagina. I might go after this one. but im still not sure.
>>94832601That's just cope, anon. You enjoy a Lorcana card, you're a fag, simple as.
Any games with r-type/darius style archetype or character or whatever? I'm sure I saw something like that before. It's usually just gunam style mecha though.
>>94833008He probably just likes Kingdom Hearts or Fantasia
>>94833008>>94833180want to see my pizza bird scam collection?
Here is my scam Mothman Collection.
>>94832236Nah, not really my thing.>>94832601That art is super dope. I really need to play my Chernabog deck and see how it functions. He seems fun as fuck.>>94833180Fantasia is top tier, so can't blame anyone for liking it.
Last ill share tonight. I have a fuck ton of good shit i picked up during the bankruptcy.

>>94833166I don't know what any of that means
>>94834054I think he's referring to some of those arcade-style shoot-em-up games where you play as a jet or spaceship and you unleash upgradeable bullet hell on screens full of enemies.

>>94834068Yeah I've just been interested in them lately and want to collect a few cards that feature that kind of design.>>94834360Thanks these are cool but I was more interested in /acg/ stuff.
>>94834048you dare rattle the chains of ol scratch by saying that about him?
