Snow or sand. I have a small nid force that’s looking ok in desert.
>>
>>94801729
Simple, because it's always felt weird to me if a section of wall is visually moving around the table with a mini.
I personally love urban bases, always have. Just chop up some GW sprue which has this great looking taper and spread it over a texture paste painted black and blue drybrushed.
Personally my army is based for desert but that's to match my buddy's desert army so we could do desert battles and match.

Think it's from 3e, probably around Armageddon/Eye of Terror books. There's an image of two of the Elysians next to an Armageddon Ork Hunter as well. The design was also used in old HH art for some airborne regiment. You can see the Scout torso design on them, coupled with the padded suits and Elysian style helmets.

I just last week got the Armageddon codex and didn't see this. I'll have to take a closer look. I know Elysians are 3e era I just meant that specific conversion. It's really cool. I'll have to look at my books when I get to them.

noprintfag detected. i fully expect everyone to recognize my printed models now that I see all the stls are stolen from the same few sources. i don't care though, i have scans of games workshop models that nobody will be able to tell apart once I paint them. there's plenty of groups that circulate third party models that are obviously 3rd party but the scans of actual gamesworkshop models are aplenty and once painted hard to tell apart from source material which is why even i bought my printer to begin with. fuck Britain, my ancestors threw their drink into the boston bay for a reason and I'd be devilish to go against their will. i'll pirate james STLs for as long as my ISP doesn't give a shit about it

>>94802798
of course I use a resin printer! fdm is garbage for what we want to play with. i totally agree with you, people who print armies of proxies aren't fulfilling the power of resin 3d printers. i think proxy armies are usually ugly as well unless there's a specific theme you're aiming for. but once you really start digging you can find scans of real gw models easily. say what you will about Russia but they are undefeated undisputed champions when it comes to piracy

When GW releases a bad model there's this tendency to focus on a singular element like that's the entire problem.
With the taurox its the wheels.
With the dark reapers its eyes
With the nu lemartes its the ballgag
People bandwagon around these singular elements, "fix" it and then act like the model is now good when the reality is that the whole thing was completely fucked.

I need opinions for my conversion. Yes or no on the leg tassle. Alternatively, I could make it more parallel and add another to the other side cut off the dawn blade I'm not using.

Goal is more feminine and stealthy. Considering adding a crotch plate or faulds of some kind, the regular pelvis is a little plain, but I don't want to make the look too busy either.

Balance is shit and it's absurdly expensive to play (even with 3D printing and recasts) and highly dependent on your area having a good community for it due to that crap balance. It's a "game" made for single engineer money hoarders and "list builders", which sucks because there's a lot of cool stuff like Zone Mortalis but good luck getting anyone to play.

The entire game basically boils down to "everyone promise to not bring too many Leviathan Dreads". I'm honestly really baffled why GW even bothered to make Solar Auxilia/Admech kits in plastic since they're pretty terrible and GW has shown 0 sign of trying to address this issue. Especially for the amount of time and money you will spend to get to a 3k point SA/Admech army.

It's a fun game mode for all its many, MANY faults in terms of how many options you have for all kinds of shit. Only thing is, nobody uses any of them and even a random casual game will mean fighting someone playing boring gay shit like Leviathans.

>nobody plays it

Your local scene may vary but it only appeals to certain people. If your local area is the same 4-5 dudes playing against each other's SM lists for the last 15 years then yeah, it's basically That: The Game.

You have heaps of fun options in HH. Nobody will take them. You have lots of fun mission or game modes. Nobody will do them. You will just be fighting the same very very few people who play the game over and over with the same units (which will be their best unit spammed as much as possible) and it will never change. It being 7th rules, being Marines Only and having a tiny number of retards playing it means nobody new will join it.

Lelith can't be explained by GW not really being good at showing attractive female faces due to how they're painted mostly, and the IRL taboo of sex and nudity, so they went with greek hero Lelith, a model focused on her muscular and powerful over a slender seductive murderer design. So we got an ugly face on a non sexy very muscular almost masculine body. They need to take the same apporoach to wychs, male and female as they do the assassins and they'd be fine

how come the daemons are so incompressible that cameras glitch and minds go insane when looking at them yet space marines kill them all the same?
I know they "respawn" in the warp and only come back after eons to regrow parts or just be in dept to Vashtorr to rebuild them or just wait for warp shenanigans to play with time and regrow them faster but beyond that they still get killed by the dozen
>>
>>94804226
So that the game can actually function. Same kind of inconsitancy as chaos markings sometimes driving people mad, to vomit, to die yet chaos guys plaster them everywhere and it never bothers anyone on a battlefield. Only when its a surprise hidden chaos shrine does it drive people mad/ill.
To the daemon question maybe they blast sanity but being in real space and somewhat tangiable means they can die if you shot them enough,

Similar nick with "Maestro" bit
"Noob" part which could be influenced by competitive Elite/DoW2 environment
Looking at his artstation he was a warhammerfag first and long before becoming porn artist. He tried to paint cool looking normal art before succumbing fully to baiting for coombucks. Might be that he created this profile without the intention to paint porn initially and just wanted to try his strengths at few things at once. Which is why he didn't bother to invent a fully unique nick, there was nothing to be ashamed of initially.
MaestroCasts DoW2 videos are 11-10 years old. maestronoob profile 40k obsession comes from this same period. Might be that he got enamored by the setting via Retribution
Maestronoob clearly liked MOBA games as well and so did MaestroCasts
Maestronoob used to have avatar at his artstation profile which was reminiscent of his face I saw in one of his youtube videos. It looked like cartoony version of it
MaestroCasts gave up on his youtube DoW2 casting eventually, but MaestroNoob became successful with his pinup Marines, Guard and Eldar. If it is this same person, it looks like he chose to switch to coompainting since it was more successful.

No hard proofs, but it adds up for me enough.
>>
why do so many of you hate current 40k rules
>>
>>94804226
Cameras attempt to record reality as it is, but "reality" is a pretty fluid concept when daemons get involved, since they're effectively bleedover from a different reality and form a mishmash of theirs and ours to even exist. However, while the camera tries to reconcile this, the space marine simply knows that as long as his faith remains strong and his blade true, he can slay the beast before him, and this knowledge makes itself true. Faith and will has always been a far more effective weapons against daemons in 40k then bullets. A little girl striking a bloodletter in a courageous attempt to protect her parents will be more likely to damage it than a whole squad of guardsmen shooting at it.
There are of course limits, as daemons are forced to become at least somewhat real in order to interact at all with things outside the warp, but it's well-established that conventional weaponry does very poorly against daemons.
>>
>>94804275
Thi is the best example of the disparity I've seen. Makes sense to me
>>94804277
Seems like bullshit but I buy it. The coomer artist seemed far to stepped in knowledge to just be a coomer artist looking for comission work
>>
>>94804226
Kind of the wrong question. Minor daemons are killed/banished plenty of times in 40k, so the question is "how do mortals contend with the immortal?"

Space Marines and other elite forces are uniquely suited to combating the threat of daemons, as they're generally more composed, better educated/indoctrinated on the nature of daemons, and of a stronger constitution. Further they have exceptional weaponry, some of which is specialized against warp entities and apparatus within their organization (or tangential to it) that concern themselves primarily with dealing with daemonkind.

Tau, Guard and similar are generally more fucked. They defeat daemons by overwhelming firepower applied by whatever of their forces can hold on by the skin of their teeth. For Tau specifically, probably looks a little like a pile of dead kroot and firewarriors and the daemon eventually getting blitzed by battlesuits or a railgun shot. For guard. It's human waves until it's blasted under a literal hail of grenades or one really big artillery shell while the commissar is pistol whipping bawling and screaming men because he literally ran out of bullets to shoot cowards.

This is all immaterial on the tabletop, because daemons die on the tabletop because you deplete their wounds. Simple as.
>>
Any guides out there for how to deploy/position your army so you dont auto lose on turn 0? Also anything on how to actually score primary reliably?
>>
>>94804278
I havent played current 40k rules
>>
>>94804294
Yes.
>>
>>94804278
I wouldn't say I hate it so much as just disillusioned with it. I understand why they are the way they are. I can see that the game is more accessible and better balanced in a way that appeals to the competitive players. But as both an experienced player and one that largely prefers narratives both in the army building (especially character building) and gameplay portion this edition feels lacking and flavorless in both respects.
>>
>>94804294
it depends on what armies your facing for deployment since deploying in cover, on the line, or deep really depends on your opponents army composition.

Scoring is never going to be perfectly reliable since your opponent will do what they can to prevent you from scoring, but generally if you are having problems scoring primary you should be more aggressive. you want to get onto points, but you also want to get in your opponents face to make it hard for them to get on the point.
>>
>>94804278
Loss of flavor and loss of granularity.
>>
>>94803002
6th and 7th nearly killed the company and they spent a decade unfucking it
>>
>>94804294
As the other anon said there are tons of guides on deployment, articles and videos alike. But the best way to learn and internalize it is going to be by playing more games and getting a feel for it and trying to stay conscious of WHY you are deploying the way that you are.
It's so heavily dependent on terrain layout, armies on the field, mission types, and even specifically list choices that it's never going to be a clear cut situation and you have to learn to read and adapt to all the layers of it.
And that's before starting the actual game. But it's a crucial skill to learn.
People literally lose in deployment if they deploy too far back or too aggressively or too heavily committed to one side of keep too much reserved without a game plan for how to leverage that choice
>>

I have played enough 40k for the novelty to wear off and start feeling the flaws of warhammer as ruleset for an actual game, and I now accuse GW of the sin of persevering in making the same errors and missing the same low hanging fruits

and I also deeply disagree with many of the game designs philosophies they're pursuing or moving towards such as the removal of customisability and lack of cross-compatibility, even if I can understand why they want to follow that path for their interests which simply do not align with the interests of the game or community

I don't blame people for enjoying the game where I don't, I do admit that a big part of my disillusionment had to do with a terrible local (and personal) gaming scene which doesn't nurture the most enjoyable aspects of the game: sociability and roleplaying
but at an ideological point I think the game should aim to be good and have a measure of depth beyond the fact it's also a silly "beer and pretzels excuse to throw dice"

Different people for different reasons. I find it weird that the heat shield is the hottest part. The tip of the barrel should be the part glowing with some glow coming from the gaps in the heat shield, but not the heat shield itself. But I shouldn't question ork weapons, so whatever.

I have two of the old one, which is great for having acolytes and neophytes as the base of your army as well tanks/transports but it lacks characters. Magus is shit and having two doesn't help. I want to get a broodcoven what is a cult without its figurehead, and Primus is nice with Neophytes but I may just make my own Primus with extra bits from the Magus and I have a spare Arbites guy on Sprue for the more tactical look.
The new combat patrol box is good too with metamorphs, Ridgerunner and Jackals are fine too I guess? I'm not into competitive stuff, just gonna collect and play random 1000/1500pts games casually.
>>
>>94804756
A protip is that for every box of acolyte hybrids, get a box of a necromunda gang of your choice. The acolyte hybrid set is stuffed to the gills with arms, but only five bodies. All those extra arms fit great on necromunda dudes with some minor cutting and you effectively get 15 dudes for the price of 10 because necromunda gangs are 10 bodies.

If clones don't have a fate/soul/whatever & most clones have terrible bad luck, how do Kin cloneskeins work?
>>
>>94805516
Clones still have souls, they're just slightly finished from the original. The only notable effect of this is that you can't clone psykers (or nulls) without them losing that capability. Creating a clone just creates a new soul unrelated to the original unless you have some very advanced and specific soul technology to move an existing soul like the Haemonculus Covens do.
>>
>>94805532
Meant to say diminished, not finished
>>
>>94805516
>If clones don't have a fate/soul/whatever & most clones have terrible bad luck
that's the thing, that assumption is wrong and derived purely from one experiment the imperium did with the afriel strain
>>
why are escher the good lasgun gang in lore? doesn't really reflect either gameplay nor their chemical weapon themeing.
>>94805516
kin are not straight clones, they're more or less designer babies, same reason the Kriegsmen are ok, they're only partially based on a single template.
>>94805532
lore is inconsistent, they sometimes bring back the concept introduced with the Afriel Strain that clones are unlucky.
>>
Demons have no ears. Or noses. Or genitals.
>>
>>94805516
>If clones don't have a fate/soul/whatever & most clones have terrible bad luck
Most clones don't have this.
Only thing that ever had this was the Aphriel Strain, which is specifically an artificial abhuman strain that was created by splicing the genomes of the Imperium's greatest heroes.

Every other clone thing in 40k are just fine.
Like Goliaths in necromunda, most of whom are mainly vatborn, ie. clones. And the only difference between vatborn and natborn Goliaths is that natborn (ie. naturally born) tend to be more intelligent and live longer.

Other clone things are Krieg for example.
And Krieg basically in no uncertain terms, are hinted to be either full clones, or half clone children of Colonel Jurten. The latter part is based on the fact that we have the Krieg book and in it Jurten has techpriest who he is close friends with.

And on Jurten's deathbed the techpriest basically tells Jurten that ONLY a man like him[talking about Jurten] is capable of bringing the Krieg civilwar to a righteus end.
Just make a guess what the techpriest insinuating here.

Also to point out, in the book, we never actually get to see what Jurten's final decree was and how the Krieg civilwar was meant to be won. Only thing we do know is that the techpriest comes out of the room announces Jurten has passed away, and since he was one of the senior members of the loyalist side and Jurten's closest associate/friend it makes sense he'd take over as the leader.

Which haven't had any problems.
Horus clone was just fine, only thing happened was that Abaddon killed it.
And the reason Abaddon killed it purely so GW and the writers could show how "better" Abaddon was compared to his father.

Another is the Ferrus clones made by Fabius, all of them were fine.
They only died because rape snake Fulgrim was hellbent on trying to get the Ferrus clones to join Chaos so they could be friends again, but Ferrus is stubborn as fuck and told Fulgrim to fuck off and it always ended in Ferrus dying because they fought.

It's on purpose, the artists has a little obsession with women so they drow a lot of femarines, but their stuff is very cool

Is there anybody at your LGS you'd refuse a game against?

admech players usually. they are just one bad day away from breaking. and who knows what could set them off, maybe one loss too many and they'll start going around gunning down people starting with their opponent. rather stay away from that

I have a spartan tank, is it worth it to pay the transport tax to ferry my mostly infantry army, or should I save the points and deploy even more dudes?

The one eldarfag at our shop
dude has one full unit painted up only and plays extremely sweaty
has a full on temper tantrum when he loses
he hasn't been around much because he's waiting on the krieg refresh to start a new army
>>
>>94806335
>same seething Knightfag as always
No one likes you. Not one person. You can scream and cope and cry about "skill issues" all you want. It will never change the fact that your army is an active fun vacuum. You are the most hated person at your LGS.

I play Ultramarines and every knight game goes like this
>Oath 1 knight because it put a toe into cover
>He does Rotate Ion Shields
>Kill it with anti-tank
>Move onto second oath target, most likely an Armiger
>Kill it
>New turn
>His knights blow up one thing each
>My turn
>Double oath
>Kill 2 more things
>"damn i'm gonna concede here i don't think I can win"
>Game ends at battleround 2 and I've wasted a day

Problem, yah phobos marine loving zoomer FUCK?!

is it worthwhile to have a rhino in my tsons army if i only have squads of 5 rubric marines (each has an HQ with them so 2 different squads wont be able to fit in the rhino). or should i just take another squad of cultist or chaos spawn

Because Orks are a shit unfun army and have been for basically the entire games existance. Its fun for your opponent because they get to mow down dozens of models a turn without ever having to worry about getting shot off the board turn 1 because you'll have to pay for shooting profiles that are hitting on 5s but also a downgrade in every way from their imperium counterpart and your entire army lacks any anti-tank so your entire strategy will always boil down to ignore everything except melee and spamming the same 5 meta units and hoping that you murder enough shit in melee during your waaagh! to where you can safely do nothing but sit on objectives for the next couple of turns. Its a boring way to play and if you cut just 3 units from orks arsenel their win rate would plummet by easily half.

>>94803225
Its fucking awful I've played it before as emperors children. It's very expensive to play and heavily rules+option bloated and takes ages for shit to get done and units will either die instantly to certain weapons or be outright immune to them. Shit balance with a hefty amount of lascannon spam more than modern 40k ever spammed lascannons and plasma. Marines and guard only so the armies are boring and no matter how much HH fags will tell you that the legions make them unique they don't its like a single special unit which is just a standard unit but with 1 extra rule and no the custodes, admech and daemons are basically underdeveloped and I've yet to see a single person play them and thats still only 5 factions to 40ks like 20. Insufferable retarded fans who treat it like a historical (hint its not and they will play it like its 40k and not a historical) all the "options" it has over 10th are a fucking lie because guess what? Even with point values certain weapons are still absurdly better than the other ones and the real problem in the first place was shit weapon profiles or ones that are simply too good at everything.

+1 to wound Oath target is insanely juiced, what's in your Ultras list aside from Guilliman?
>>
>>94806263
There's a guard player who I try to avoid. Every 6 months or so I play him in the hopes that he's changed but he keeps getting worse. Last time we played he:
>Brought a meta netlist
>Pitched a fit and almost ragequit when I blew up 2 tanks in one turn
>Played a bunch of his units wrong (all to his advantage)
>Played movement sloppy and hid dice rolls from me
>Complained about how GW keeps screwing guard over
And all his models are painted just to the 3 color requirement, no personalization or character

Gladiator (I alternate if it's a lancer or reaper depending on how I feel on the day)
Vindicator
Repulsor Executioner
2x5 Jump pack Marines
2x3 Inceptors
5 Scouts
5 Intercessors
Redemptor
Techmarine with Adept
Predator Destructor with Las

Sounds EXACTLY to the letter like a guard player I know. Spams tanks and basilisk to just make everything unfun for everyone, bitches about any nerf to guard no matter how retardedly OP their stuff is and always complains about the removal of conscripts so he wants to always play 8th (using codexes) where guard was fucking bullshit OP.

Is there something mentally deranged about guard players?

Yeah I don't understand that? Your basic infantry squad is now just the fucking cadian one and the only difference is it says cadia instead of "infantry" and you lost a heavy weapon big whoop not like your gonna actually use infantry outside of like 2 squads to babysit objectives instead of taking oops all tanks so that half your opponents army can't kill you.
>>
>>94806518
>>94806478
>Good friend of mine decides to start a new army with 1k points
>It's guard
>Prints off 5 leman russes and 2 sentinels for his entire army
Played against it once and it was one of the most unfun games I've ever had. Will refuse any other games with that army until he adds some infantry, because fuck vehicle spam entirely.
He brought it to a tournament with 3 other all-tank guard lists and got 1st. So glad I didn't show up to that shitfest.

so if i disembark a unit from a transport that has moved, does that mean even if i use temporal surge then that unit wont be able to move?
>>
thats a throoder thread
>>
>>94806532
There are a lot of bad eldar players because the army so often winds up being busted op, so it's accumulated probably the highest percentage of waacfags over the years.
Guard are harder to explain. Maybe a mixture of historical autism that attracts them to regular human soldiers mixed with low level retardation keeping them playing 40k rather than a historical? Possibly some strange main character syndrome about being the underdog heroes? I can only guess.
>>
>>94806569
The full paragraph says they can't move further this phase, but the summary says this turn. I'd say that because it's an ability and not a move action, you'd be able to move using temporal surge

The more expensive the unit is than the transport the more worth it is. If they are less or equal it is not worth it.

If you get some Goliaths, you can use the dudes that ride the truck as extra units. You just gotta get creative with the expensive army.

If the shoota has a large metal gasblock right there it would be hotter than the muzzle. The muzzle being a thinner piece of metal with a larger surface area would cool down faster than a thick solid block of machined steel like a gasblock. Orc weapons are also made and function by different rules than real ones. You pained it fine.
