Was this the best board wipe ever printed in terms of interactivity and just hype potential? Having to bait your opponent to swing with everything is such good game design in my opinion.
>>94803492>Forgetting purple manangmi
It's sad that we're in an era where you don't even get memes anymore. It's all just shit. It's not even fun to make fun of.
>>94803897Colorless is the 6th "color"
>>94803647>Was this the best board wipe ever printed in terms of interactivity and just hype potential? Having to bait your opponent to swing with everything is such good game design in my opinion.Settle should have been Destroy instead of Exile (Exile should be exceedingly rare. Counterplay is important.) but otherwise yeah. Huge blowout potential but can be played around reliably. Massive downside that can obliterate you if it ever becomes relevant.Cards should be designed to result in good gameplay first, second, last. It should be the literal only concern when designing cards. Settle is a good pick for good design.
>>94804001(I like how it is functionally literally identical to a 6th color and they made no attempt to differentiate it from just being a literal, functionally identical sixth color.
What's the best kind of upside taplands?-Gain 1 life-Deal 1 damage-Scry 1-Surveil 1Which one would be more valuable to you in a generic deck that you play?

looking to get into the game, against my better judgement. are pre-release events a good first event?
>>94804161>looking to get into the game,Don't.>against my better judgement. Trust your judgement.>are pre-release events a good first event? They would have been about five years ago. You missed the boat. Game's shit and sucks ass. Don't bother. The only people left are gay reddit pop culture coomers and sunk cost oldfags.
>>94804161sure, the next best way would be having a close friend teach you how to play
>>94804166what makes the game worse than it was five years ago?
>>94804057I wouldn't defend gaining 1 life, but dealing 1 damage might be relevant in some cases
>>94804193Every aspect of it. The gameplay. The art. The designs. The story. You name it.And 5 years ago wasn't even that good. We were already well downhill by that point.
>>94804194Not enough for me to run a tapland, but I agree it's better than gaining life.
>>94804193Its own identity is being erased.
In what decks was she used historically? I can only find recent decklists with Sram and Selfless Savior. I can't believe the card saw no use before that.
>>94804343bogles
>>94804343>I can't believe the card saw no use before that.
>>94803897I like it.
>>94804517Considering having {P} not able to contribute to generic costs for my set. Likely too unintuitive..

>Lesbian art>Also AI artFingers crossed this set ends up bombing.
>>94804061Foundations has Eldrazi? I can make an Eldrazi deck in Standard?
>>94804630>Fingers crossed this set ends up bombing. It looks unironically fucking god awful.Worst set symbol ever. The fact that they chose that fugly ass POS Daretti as their premium first spoiler for the set to set the tone is telling.
>>94804638literally one eldrazi
>>94804641
>>94804193I quit because they:>Set the precedent for horizons sets regularly rotating old formats>Increased the focus on tacky special treatments for fomobucks while also increasing the cost of regular cards.>Sold 250$ booster packs.>Ban and change old cards for political reasons.>Doubled down on pop-culture crossovers, making them part of every single formatThat on top of the main story, setting and art being neutered and basically reduced to pop-culture refferences anyway.A fair ammount of this is a matter of taste, so if you're new and want to play with Spiderman cards, i'm sure you'll have a good time playing at the Spiderman pre-release. As a somewhat enfranchised player, the last years generally give the impression that Magic is just canibalizing itself with no sacred cow left untouched.
>>94804630That doesn't really look AI at all?
>>94804706Then you need to get your eyes checked
>>94804753It looks pretty consistent with Raymond Swanland's art-style. He shades things pretty heavily. He doesn't usually do close-ups of faces, but this is much like what his faces are.
>>94804038Damage is the worst since I'm never playing a tapland in my aggro deck.
Is it true guy who is making Aetherdrift is also making Edge of Eternites? Or am I confusing him with someone else?
>>94804662One Kithkin, too. Don't question it.
>>94804786Mark Rosewater is lead on Aetherdrift, and Ethan Fleischer is co-lead on EoE, though Mark is working on that one too (he works on basically every full set to some extent I think).
>>94804662Is sad right? If Colorless is the 8th colour then fucking let me play an Eldrazi deck.
>>94804794Elaborate on your accusations of it being AI or shut the fuck up.
>>94804797The faces and lighting look like it was AI generated. And his art style doesn't match the art in that picture in the slightest.
>>94804802I wouldn't really say there's any real inconsistencies that point to AI art, though. It's just digital art with heavy lighting. It's not his best work, but it looks like his work for sure. It's a type of piece he doesn't really DO, he's moreso higher action things, and close-ups of faces in more tender moments don't really exist in his portfolio for Magic so far, but that's about what I'd expect it to look like. There's no weird incomprehensible messes, nothing blending into each other, it's very clearly done by a person.
>>94804269I can never take this game seriously anymore when someone starts saying “I attack you with Spider-Man and Doc Ock for lethal, unless you can counter with Sepiroth”.It sounds like a fucking retarded game of Calvinball.
>>94803897That gave me an IdeaThe corporate overlords at Hsbro Inc. made an executive decision to introduce a new color to mtg to boost sales (You) are in charge of design. What is the new color and what lies in the core of it's identity? How does it stand out from others? What would hypothetical creatures, sorceries, instants and planeswalkers look like? Go
>>94804269>>94804849This. Just this. 2025 is such an awful year i can't believe no one at WotC could tell Hasbro what a disaster they will making with a successful product. All the other TCGs must be clapping at this year shitty sets of MTG.
>>94804792Yea he leads vision design, so he is involved in almost every mechanic at the early stages. If he's on the main team for aetherdrift I'd suggest getting a box now before spoilers Mark sets almost always bust the game wide open since he doesn't believe in constructed formats.
>>94804849>>94804867It will fucking sell like hotcakes because 95% of Magic is EDH, despite EDH not being Magic. It kinda defines Magic now.
How much longer til MtG's next theme park set is for mecha?
>>94804907Wotc's fault for raping every constructed format into the ground annually since ktk.

Next story episode, and I'm summarising again because... At this point it helps me to better internalise the story and I generally like the writing overall lately (not super sold on Aetherdrift's main story yet admittedly). https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/magic-story/aetherdrift-episode-2-pit-stop>Open with Chandra reminiscing about her travels and then about Nissa as she wakes up next to her>The lesbians cuddle up while Nissa mentions Chandra talking in her sleep, mostly about the race but also about Nissa herself>Specifically she was saying how much it'd mean to Chandra to bring Nissa back to Zendikar, which causes an awkward silence that Chandra doesn't quite grasp why Nissa's so upset about that idea>Nissa explains that while she appreciates Chandra's work, she doesn't really want Chandra to fix the problem for her, she doesn't want to just be "Nissa of Nissa and Chandra" so to speak>Chandra eventually counters that she didn't feel at home on Kaladesh/Avishkar at first when she came back, but Nissa helped her make it feel like that again and she pleads to Nissa to let her do the same for her>Before the conversation goes any further, Pia Nalaar interrupts them to mention that breakfast is ready and they agree to table the discussion for now>Nissa and Pia bond a bit over Chandra sharing the sleep-talking quirk with her father apparently>Pia then pivots into a somewhat accusatory statement about how Chandra's working with the team that doesn't really care about her or her home, though Pia says she understands because it's the best hope of winning>Nissa interjects that Pia and Chandra both competing separately means there's twice the chance of winning, which causes Chandra to internally groan>Back to Sita, pacing about while waiting for her ride to the race, while a news interview with Caradora, the Alacrian Quickbeasts' leader, is going on
would anyone play a format that only had sets that were in modern but not in pioneer? so Mirrodin to core set 2013.this is when I played the most and it has a lot of nostalgia for me, the Pioneer cutoff is about when I think the game started going downhill
>>94805162I always dread Nissa being involved in any story because they never have even the slightest clue of what to do with her, so she just ends up nebulously unhappy about everything. After all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over Chandra and Nissa getting together, has there ever actually been a story in which they're happy about it?
Olivia Voldaren of our time.
>>94805162>The interviewer is a homunculus named Vin, who originated in Magic Spellslingers actually, weird pull, and Caradora doesn't really have a lot interesting to say except that her partner beast is just as much the leader as she is while said partner pecks at Vin>Sita mostly dismisses the Quickbeasts because while they're cool and all, an engine's gonna beast flesh and muscle any day>Sita's ride finally shows up, a seamstress named Lalan, who has a cover story that Sita's going for an internship with her so her father doesn't suspect anything, etc.>Sita as Spitfire arrives on scene, and is immediately accosted by a shark-man laughing at her>She brushes past him, and encounters Far Fortune of the Endriders team, who is the only other racer that Spitfire finds intimidating>Far Fortune asks if she wants Spitfire to chop up that shark-man for her, which she politely refuses with a scoff>Past some Speedbrood, Amonkheti and some goblins praying, and she's at the Aether Rangers' camp where Pia's arguing with one of the race marshals>The marshal leaves upon seeing Spitfire's made it, but chides her for being late to the last call>Spitfire briefly sees Team Cloudspire and pointedly does NOT think about Chandra's presence there>Pia offers Spitfire a gift, of a new racing suit with an in-built very brief turbo system so she can run super-fast in an emergency setting I suppose>Pia notes that she had to readjust it and Spitfire realises it was made for Chandra at first>Back to Chandra, listening to a speech by Kolodin, Cloudspire's leader, who she considers to be the second-best at talking of anybody she's met after Ajani, but who also talks a LOT>Amidst the speech she's not paying attention to, she hears a child's voice in pain, but she can't pinpoint its location>A colder voice snaps back to that voice, and she can't locate the source of that either>There's a sad chirping sound in response (it's Loot, it's Loot and Winter)
>>94805226>Chandra eventually notices the final team that it has to be, and sees Winter and Loot though she has no idea what Loot is, but she sees Loot in a cage and clearly in pain, and chides Winter to at least lighten up on his 'friend'>Winter just calls her a hero who keeps sticking her nose in places and whatnot>Before anything can escalate, Chandra's called for the last call to get to her engine>Chandra quickly at least adjusts Loot's cage with some bar-melting, not enough to free him, but enough to make his cage roomier and more comfortable>New character now, Suraj, a guy working for the Grand Prix as a mason>He's enjoying his own VIP seating on a platform he himself made>He watches as Gonti takes the stage to start the race off>Gonti gives a very brief speech about how this is all about progress, then raises the starting signal flare>As Gonti fires the flare, the racers all immediately blur out, with Suraj noting that Chandra's tailgating the Speed Demons (Winter's team) instead of specifically going for first right now>Also, the platforms that Suraj worked on all start to crumble and fall away under the stress because he used cheaper copper alloy instead of steel>The marshals manage to save the crowd that falls, but Suraj's own platform is all alone, and he falls to his death due to his own shoddy workmanship>Back to Spitfire, in the race, and already everybody's resorting to all sorts of interference tactics>An Endrider tries to chain up her ride but she manages to outmaneuver him, and then gets his legs crushed by a zombie river horse (hippo I guess?) from Amonkhet>Spitfire grabs one of her ride's aether canisters and plugs it into her suit to give her a turbo-charge of hyperfocus and she blitzes forward, weaving through the other racers>In avoiding a Speed Demons' demon arm thing, she ends up rolling over and sitting before a crumbling part of the raceway
>>94805298>She does some crazy maneuver to get through it and gets through the first Omenpath, and onto Amonkhet she goes>However, she realises that, despite the Speed Demons being behind her moments ago, they were in fact the first ones to get through to Amonkhet somehow>Cut to Mohar, Sita's father, being aghast and upset about all the destruction and carnage and all that>As he gets upset about the news mocking Chandra (he does consider her a hero), he hears a scream from his own home and quickly grabs a weapon and goes to check it out>It's a woman with green skin and tendrils for hair (gee I wonder who this is)>He tries to fire, but can't, and sees a blue-cloaked figure right beside this intruder>Jace probes in Mohar's mind and offers him a deal, promising him his dreams coming true for the plane if they work together>They just need Mohar's help for something>They almost certainly will not give this guy what he wants
>>94805298I honestly felt bad for Suraj. He wasn’t cutting corners because he was corrupt or criminal, but because he’d fallen in love with the race and was desperate to be working on it—so he submitted painfully low estimates for the bidding process and had to make up for the price somewhere. He gets fucked over just for being enthusiastic about the set theme, which feels a little weird for this early in the story.
>>94805342I think it's more meant to show that Gonti's still kind of a corrupt asshole, even as an official legally-sanctioned thing, that Gonti ALLOWED such a thing.
>>94805226>a child's voice>Loot can talk nowOh God, no. Don’t make the obligatory cute mascot character into Wesley Crusher as well.
>>94805361It's implied to be a telepathic cry for help or something, more than actual speech. Loot seems to only be capable of audibly chirping. Maybe Jace taught him, maybe it's just something his people can do and he's not super aware of it.

>>94805374Oh wait Daretti's already spoiled, he's the non-native. So either somebody's gonna be revealed to be from Muraganda, or Saheeli's getting another card. OR Dovin's back, baby.
>>94805382>New LotusLETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>94805342There are an awful lot of "not so subtle" undertones to the story so far. They are dead-set on showing how "awful" old Kaladesh was in terms of its bureaucracy, values and ideals - mainly by shitting on a well meaning parent for no real reason. Sita's friend is a purple haired, nose pierced "alternative" because of course she is (despite somehow being the plane's top clothier / designer)...everyone who has appeared so far is a caricature of themselves. All subtlety is directly out the window. These theme sets just keep getting worse, and that is impressive considering how initially bad Murders was and how awful Outlaws was.
>>94805408The story's pretty even with its treatment of Mohar. It portrays him as clearly a well-meaning, but set-in-his-ways type. He's not being treated as evil, more just as a bit out of his scope.
>>94805382>Start your engines, MechanicMark...>New LotusMARK...>13/13 Vehicle with Crew 2 that costs one mana to castMARK STOP!
Get ready for the new busted chase card that gets banned in every format two years after destroying those formats. >Purple Lotus>0>Tap, Exile Purple Lotus: Add PPP. Discard your hand at the beginning of the next end step.
>>94805420Mark is not even the lead des-...>Design Mark Rosewater (lead)
>>94805408The story isn't shitting on Mohar at all, like four paragraphs into his introduction it goes on about how people see him as callous and cruel but Sita knows he's a loving and supportive father who's just kind of a boomer. I'd be very surprised if they didn't reconcile by the end of the story, potentially as he's dying or something like that if they're going in that direction. Lalan being a top designer that looks wacky is nothing odd, have you seen the kind of shit high end fashion puts out? Suraj is a big racing fan but fucks himself and other people over, showing how Gonti and the new government are not really good guys. The writing isn't exactly Shakespeare, but it's clearly not what you're trying to make it out to be.
>>94805382So a cycle of Murganda dinosaurs is the "vanilla legendary" thing, meaning that they have learned absolutely nothing about design as this is just "What was Murganda about again? Oh right - it was the vanilla plane. Just do that" in action. This set is going to be extremely scattershot. There is no way they can do 10 racing teams plus three planes worth of their themes and also shoehorn in story cards, etc. These cards are going to be disjointed as hell.
>>94805382>• Cat and Dog MountsI can see the jokes already
>>94805382>13/13 Vehicle with Crew 2 that costs one mana to castI can already see it in the gruul aggro deck with haste and fling
>>94805382New Lotus? Oh boi, another age of horror is upon us, folks.
>>94805382>“{T}: Add {R} for each Goblin you control.”If this isn't an exact copy of Elvish Archdruid but red and for goblins, I'm fucking rioting.
>>94803897Does this need another downside?
>>94805641Depends on what rarity it'll be.
>>94805382>“Whenever you activate an exhaust ability, draw a card.”I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, I'm guessing exhaust will be something like exert but for vehicles.
>>94805408>mainly by shitting on a well meaning parent for no real reason.Anon, please. He finds himself upset and worried by the footage of Spitfire for reasons he can’t explain. He’s absolutely going to get a redemption and accept his daughter for who she is, and you’re a fool if you can’t see that.

>>94805419>>94805713>thinking WotC will miss a chance to shit on current year "wrongthink" in any wayStrange gamble you have going on there.
>>94805382Hey, wait, doesn't this make Seal a new creature type? I can't think of any other card that's a Seal.
>>94805382why dinosaurs in my wacky races history? fuck this shit.
>>94805729It's a very common trope that's reliable and popular, it's barely even a gamble.
>>94805760Because they're going to Muraganda, keep up.
>>94805829don't care about muraganda this set was supposed to be a race, if i wanted dinos and shit i would expect ixalan. it's time for engines and cars, bro.
>>94805886They can't help themselves - they have data of some variety that Magic players love animals and they are shoehorning dogs, cats and other heckin' animals everywhere they can. Why does the mounted riders on animals faction for this race even exist? The story has vehicles achieving near sound-barrier speed two seconds after the green flag and some person mounted on a bird is supposed to race that somehow? Cat mounts, dog mounts...
>>94805886There's also a whole team who ride on creatures, rather than driving cars.
>>94805886>>94805911>>94805913This set was conceived as an Un-set by Maro, don't take it too seriously.

>>94805943Which of the 2025 sets am I supposed to be taking seriously? Final Fantasy? Spider Man? Avatar? Tarkir (but politically correct this time, we swear)? An equally loony space opera set? This is the worst year for Magic in a long time. Bloomburrow was a fluke / broken clock situation.
>>94805964>>94805531Anon, there will be five of them.
>>94805968I’m particularly dreading Tarkir because of how much I wanted a return set a scant ten years ago. But we’ve already seen clans and dragons that have no aesthetic similarities to the ones we know.
>>94805420>>94805509I'm expecting a brand new never before seen level of power creep and emergency bans that make people think fondly of Companion.

>>94806194That’s what I said, Nosewater.
>>94806147Magic cat
>>94806220He's desparked.

>>94806249How DID everyone lose their spark?
>>94806252Really? I mean I didn't hate him, but he always was a literal who tier.
>>94806265The answer as with anything meaningful in Magic is: Phyrexians.
>>94806265They were irrelevant to the plot, and good as a commander legendary creature.
>>94806265The Creation of the Omenpaths fucked up the Multiverse and that caused it for reasons that are still a mystery box.Out of lore its because Wizards was concerned with the Planeswalker design creep and so wanted to pair back the whole concept to 1-2 cards per set again.
>>94806265When the Multiverse reconfigured itself following the Phyrexian invasion, it squeezed them out of people. Or something. It’d be nice if it could be consistently tied to compleation, but no such luck.
>>94806265In no small part to the fact that the multiverse is in a completely different shape, given how Realmbreaker went through it.
don't fool yourselves the reason they made less planeswalkers and turned all those cards into shitty legendary creatures is only to pamper the commander faggot crew.
>>94805382>• Cat and Dog Mounts>And Vehicles>In the same fucking setfor fuck sake this set is going to be unrivalled garbage
>>94806265There's like three in-universe theorisations and no concrete confirmation, but something something the Sylex exploding in the Blind Eternities and Realmbreaker causing so much damage caused it to somehow happen because reasons.
>>94806298They would've just allowed planeswalkers as commanders if that were the case.
>>94806334You’d be amazed by how contentious the very notion is among commander players.
>>94806334Commander players don't like the planeswalkers.

>>94806808WotC? Nothing. That being said, players are starting to turn on Commander in general. It is slow and it will take a long time, but it is happening. All Magic card discussion (outside of this thread) has now become "This goes great in my X deck" and nothing else. Commander products are actually starting to price out some players and with the sheer avalanche of new product this will continue. Add to that the fact that card prices have 100% been taken over by commander investors (not to be confused with commander players) and WotC fully dispelling the illusion that Commander was a "community driven way to play" with the dissolution of the advisory committee (although anyone with a brain could always clearly see that WotC was calling the shots all along (see the silver border temp legality for a new set release, etc as examples) and you have a noticeable decline.Even social media / content wise Commander is taking hits. People finally woke up to Jimmy / Josh being nepo-babies just in it for the money and "cred" with the council issues and them taking on multiple questionable sponsors...the list goes on.Again, this will take time - but nothing escapes the pendulum swing forever.

I like how the game is so shit that topdecks don't exist anymore.Every card filters so you always just get what you need, and every card does everything even half the lands so you know every card you draw will do what you want. The game has fucking no tension anymore.

And you gain life too, negating any life lost earlier (teehee)>Also, the condition for draining life is something you can draw into, so it enables itself.>ALSO, the 6/6 it functionally draws you on ETB meets the condition to get the drain, just in case you didn't draw into a Demon during any of your extra draws. The level of retarded you have to be to design this, playtest it, and think it is acceptable after even a single game, should not be humanly achievable.
Do people still do the "collect" part of this collectable card game? Or is MtG purely for gameplay these days?
>>94807469yes
>>94807469>Do people still do the "collect" part of this collectable card game?Nope.Chris Wilson (of Grinding Gear Games) was previously one of the most prolific MTG collectors in the world. Even he has publically stated he doesn't collect new sets.Nobody collects MTG for the sake of collecting anymore. Speculating, maybe, but there are only so many gay premium extended foil alt art limited edition etched foil anime cereal box editions you can tolerate before you spit in the face of the morons designing this trash heap.
>>94807469still? the game was way more gameplay driven in the past. now it's just funko. this is proven by almost every SLD selling like hotcakes

I never said it wasn't more gameplay driven, I'm just asking if thats the only aspect to it now. People used to collect MtG sets back in the day, even if gameplay was the driving factor.Honestly even for collectors, Gameplay should still be the driving factor in my opinion.

For me, it's Atraxa. The best Oath target. I even ask for extra card advantage and the ENTERS trigger is so friendly and more than willing to oblige. One time I asked for a card in my hand and they gave me ten. I said, "Wow, ten for free!" and the nice friendly Magic: the Gathering Online employee laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 10-for-free!".Now the Daybreak staff greets me with "hey it's 10-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me ten cards. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local Magic: the Gathering Online League, I go there at least 3 times a week for making shops players cry and playing Altanak on turn 2, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm drunk on PBR but still want to queue on a gray market gambling site that is unaffordable, slow, and ships as a minimum viable product.I even dip my Atraxas in my opponent's tears, it's delicious! What a great card game.

>>94806909There will be no pendulum swing back to Standard. In regards to paper Magic the analogy is that everyone is playing minigolf/EDH and once the minigolf stops becoming economically feasible nobody is going to run back to normal golf/Standard because all the courses have closed. Whoever the fuck is playing Standard is doing it online but in paper it's dead forever because Standard requires actual competent players to build up in paper and those people don't exist anymore. To use the analogy again, nobody's going to play fucking golf because guess what, all the old fucks who know how to actually play the game are wholly uninterested in teaching the next generation. Before some faggot says "Standard is doing fine where I'm at" - good for you. Because that's the second most used shit phrase after "This goes great in my X deck". You can see what Standard would look like based off prerelease attendance where nobody fucking knows how to play Limited including the Arena players because they all use trainer overlays to auto-draft for them so when they actually have to do a Sealed or Draft on their own they shit themselves. That's the same audience that would revive Standard and that's never going to fucking happen because those people don't know how to play the game.I'm all but certain a shocking majority of the Cube community lacks competitive experience in Limited and Constructed, they are in actuality just as fucking shit as EDH players but instead are slinging 720 card "decks" that they "balance". Everything and everyone in this game is rotten and incompetent there is no fucking pendulum that will bring this community back to competence.

>New mechanic called "start your engines"I hate this type of design so fucking much I want Mark to make R&D fucking quit it with this dogshit where they add these "thematic" gimmicks that look fucking retarded when transposed anywhere else. Especially since the sets are getting dumber and dumber with their setting so it's very obvious it will become another one of those "remember this keyword from 10 years ago faggot" moments. Like holy shit at this point I'll take the YGO wall of text on every card over being expected to remember what makes Saddle different from Crew.
i'm playing that pokemon tcg that came out for phones recently and man this game kinda sucksi have no idea how pokemon tcg managed to live this long
>>94809302I could say the same about Magic but that game genuinely does suck like holy shit entire game based around setting up stax pieces and looping your opponent's hand because there's no actions to take outside your turn.
>>94809302Children, and collectors, the actual game itself is so secondary the the finance side of things actually ignores it, which ironically is a benefit.
>>94809281Especially when the "keyword" just describes the trigger condition and doesn't help you remember what the card actually does. Doubly so because they still print the full wording of the ability on the card, making the keyword entirely redundant.
>>94808942Anon, Mattel is one of Hasbro's largest competitors. Why would they advertise one of its products?
>>94808213>Really laying it on thick you don't understand how the card actually works aren't you>Play card>Get its efffect>Also, it allows you to pay 3BB to create a 6/6 demon with flying.Explain the functional difference between this and tutoring a 3BB flier.>"B-b-buit you can remove it!"And you could discard it if it was in hand instead of on the permanent. HAving different roundabout ways to deal with the card advantage is not a significant difference. So, please ,explain.
So what's the correct move here? Take one and force a splash or keep the deck more consistent?
>>94809318>Why Money.

In a 60 card deck (fair strategy), what would you consider a healthy mulliganing rate?I simulated 200 openers with my brew and had %80 to keep 7 and %4 to go <6, that's pretty good right?
>>94810571>In a 60 card deck (fair strategy), what would you consider a healthy mulliganing rate? One in five is reasonable.
>>94810572I guess that is 1 in 5, and %4 is exactly 1/5 of %20 that's kinda neat. I don't play meta decks very often, would you say this is on par with a deck like Dimir Murktide in terms of mulligans? Thanks for your input btw
Everything is coming together. The core pieces assemble. Fae of Wishes lets us run extreme hard-hitting top-end wincons without risking us drawing them in the maindeck. Niko lets it bounce itself to rip more SB pieces. The deck can play control or play tempo depending on what pieces you get. Kiora Bests the Sea God is the most brutal, no fucks given hard single-card wincon in the game right now. T5f gets us the infinite value power. It just feels very smooth and versatile. Tap locks shit on aggro. It's a bit on the backfoot against the FIRE garbage of Midrange, but by no means struggles in grindy midrange matchups. Fleeting Spirits are god tier anti-control murder machines. Need to test more against different lists, but with Fae in and a wincon/hate piece wishboard it's steadily feeling more comfy. Will have to figure out what SB pieces it wants most, though.
>>94808655Lets just ignore that the Spotlight Series Atlanta tournament was the biggest Standard tournament of all time and lots of people were not able to get in. >>94814187Ok now add the fact that they originally made the set for release alongside Midnight Hunt shelved the set, and dusted it off later on into the reasoning.
>>94814294Yes. This has happened before and led to huge drama at my LGS.
>>94813771nta but it's an extremely commander-design thing to print these things that are slight spins on existing cards (what if adaptive automaton but a vehicle???) so commander players can slot a bunch of the same effect into their singleton deck instead of just playing a format where they can play multiples of a card they want
I think that the seething hatred for commander that prevails /mtg/ stems mainly from the fact you people have no friend groups. You just visit your LGS to participate in barely firing FMNs to play with strangers and angleshoot and cheat (with proxies!) whenever possible. Nobody likes you and you hate everyone and everything out of spite. You people are sad and pathetic. Just loosen up, get over your hatred and joins at our commander pods! Once you get used to it, I'm sure you'll like commander too.
>>94814580You tell them, Sis!! We can now play with our Commander casual decks! I made one with Dr. Who! Soon we will be able to make a Spiderman deck! Such fun!
>>94814606>it was true all along>the g*yim really were animals
>>94809545WE NEED TO GO DEEPER
What is this nigga doing
>>94814624If at least they were spoilers...
>>94814580I play commander with my friend group every Sunday night alongside playing at the LGS on Fridays. And I can still say that the focus on Commander as a format has drastically damaged the overall integrity of Magic as a Game.Even beyond that seeing the devolution of EDH into current commander and the decay of the formats spirit of making due with the chaff in your collection into the nightmare of CEDH and Commander focused design power creep, is sad to look at.
>>94814624flying seems to be the theme
>>94814580my group tried edh and after a while we realized how boring it was so now we cube which actually does what edh claims to have (variance between games and space for weird cards that dont fit in other formats)

>>94811372>what is the purpose of BST here? what are you trying to steal most of the time?6/6 fliers for UU. Goblin Shamans on occasion.1UU to steal a threat / 2UU to steal a SSS against aggro gets something gone plus a blocker. It's not awful. The deck can slow the game down a lot, so it's a death sentence in a long matchup for X>=5. I've just found it to be very practical overall. One of the card slots I'm screwing with a lot though.
>I [Don't] ConsentInstant>Cleave>[Counter] target spell [that] targets you [or a permanent you control].
>>94813478Sweet lord of fucking hell the art style for this set is SO FUCKING REPULSIVE
>>94813179Jace is going to flip the multiverse to color change all the walkers like a white Lilly and blue mana Chandra.Archavios(Strixhaven) gets a grimdark makeover with color flipped housesThe other walkers have to team up against Jace as he becomes the next BBEG trying to remake the multiverse. It’s such a fucking retarded rehash of the time spiral block.JOTC shouldn’t be emailing out spoilers since I actively fucking hate them.
>>94815181way too clever for modern wotc

What kind of effect would this multi color get?
>>94815245
>>948152455c wrath
>>94815245Pile-Up1RX InstantPile-Up deals x amount of damage to target creature where x is the amount of colored mana spent to cast it. If a vehicle is targeted this way, deal the same amount of damage to another target creature
>>94815260Destroy all colored creatures and artifacts.
>>94815181Can this redirect bolt?It doesn't say "change the target," but then again "target spell targets you" isn't coherent in the current rules.
>>94815333Can bolt target players?
Deck for this feel?
>>94811372>>94815083Oh, also, a very small caveat that has been relevant in tests:It's removal that doesn't trigger Revolt. Not letting opponents kill our Dreamshackle Geists off of our removal has been relevant vs Aggro a few times so far.
