In any case.>TQCoolest thing I ever seen are quite a lot but the time my group of Vampire players decided to take on a Nexus Crawler with improvised weaponry was top of the shelf stuff. One of them even made a flamethrower using a kitchen gas canister. >>94803633Ah we'll survive. It's not the first time someone (me, lol) fucks up the subject of the thread. It makes for some entertaining banter, at least.
>>94803636>vampires >taking on a goddamn Nexus Crawler>the shit that makes werewolves its bitchBrass balls on them. Did any of them get torpored/final deathed?
Who tops? Who bottoms?Dante or Vergil?
>>94803636Aren't Nexus Crawlers spirits? Did it run through the gauntlet or something?
>>94804342They're big boy spirits, so they possess stuff like train derailments and contort the whole thing into a robot body.
>>94804328They weren't the only people there. It was a major, massive masquerade breach as the Crawler rampaged through an entire mental facility, so the PCs adopted a strategy of hit-and-run kyting. Thankfully due to how it was a mental hospital most of the Masquerade breach got solved with "there was a gas leak" and "those people are crazy!", plus a lot of string-pulling in the media. One other moment of sheer badassery from that session was when one of the PCs, holding a white phosphorous grenade in one hand, jumped on the crawler, punched a hole through its carapace with the hand holding the grande, dropped it inside while pulling the pin, and jumped off, all in the same turn.He rolled 30 die for damage there, all aggravated. He had 3 successes. The PC was rightfully mad about it. I put this on the Crawler's weird distortion powers.>>94804342They were sent out to investigate an "anomaly" nobody knew what it was. They had express orders to assess the situation and fuck off. They instead chose to "help" and solve the problem themselves.
>>94804335They're brothers. The real question is who puts in the front and who puts it in the back when they're double-teaming.
In my infinite autisdom, I already clarified for all petitioners that they are Rabisu Nephilim with relic swords. Rebellion and Sparda grant access to Lore of Fire, while Yomato grants Lore of Portals.
Reminder that in canon DMC lore there was an unseen wizard powerful enough to summon and bind demons as strong as fucking Mundus. Dante looks out for his bratty descendant, and you hear her on the phone in the opening of DMC5, as it is implied she wants to fuck him on her 18th birthday, so she calls.Mage supremacy exists even in places you least expect.
>>94805163Patty is a little bitch, but they better make her a playable caster type character in an inevitable sequel title, to make up for the loss of V.
>>94805163Mage supremacy is a Jewish conspiracy to make Solomon look like a badass. Mazel Tov, achim!
>>94805222Jews don’t like to acknowledge that one of their greatest was a man who enslaved poor innocent demons to build his house for him, though. They do acknowledge that Moses was basically a wizard tho. The Jews have always had this repute of being sorcerers. >>94805674earthbound would be your best bet, but given that the kids are nephilim and original post in the other thread said those would be limited to 3 dots spheres higher end abilities would be off the table
>>94805684*3 dots lores
>>94805684Oh yeah, I just mean as far as a "fair" amount of dots in all the other stats. Besides, considering Sparda's rank and Legacy, I think it's fair to say his Nephilim would be much more powerful than the average (even if only for the amount of features their apocalyptic form gets).
>>94805674Kinda. The storyteller's companion has pic related for freshly summoned higher end demons, but it doesn't really apply to Demons that have been on earth for long. As the other anon said, the Earthbound example sheets would be your best bet there.I personally go with the rough exp ranges in V20 when I'm considering making longer lived characters of basically any kind.>>94805684I keep seeing people say stuff like this, but after scouring every source I could find, I can confidently say there's never been official stats for DtF Nephilim, so anon can give them whatever spread he'd want. Probably best to just use Fallen as a template.

>>94805798Oh, right, I forgot about this post >>94767497It's not to my own taste, but if anon wants to use that, here it is.
What's your favorite half splat? I need ideas for a short chronicle and some Easter eggs.
>>94805748Okay, I'm working on it now. Starting with a starter Dante that I'll elaborate on with Ix Tab's stats. The most work will be making Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory.
Who had "Gaiman's name becomes the biggest shitstain on V5's core book credits" marked on their 2025 bingo?
>>94806087Demon blooded (Descent).
>>94806229Okay, having more-or-less finished, the biggest complication is how Relics work. It doesn't really translate to a sheet, nor perfectly to DMC. I would suggest Ebony and Ivory are simply enchanted relics, with infinite ammo and can be charged with 1 Faith for extra damage. Rebellion is more complex. It's definitely a demonic relic, but its use is determined by Dante beating it in a previous psychic battle, bringing it down to Stamina + Wits; Difficulty 3. It costs 1 Faith to activate, and contains the lores of Celestial (generates Faith) and Flame (adds fire damage). It adds 1 Torment, as all demonic relics do, but Dante's perpetually hanging around Torment 2-4 anyways. Dante's basically just a minmaxed fighter, he relies on Relics to provide his demon magic.
What are each clan in this trailer?Definitely Nosferatu and Tremere in the lothttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DauErLT3OH0
>>94806633As well, I can confirm that rolling Dante and Vergil as Thralls with Investments works. I don't think they have high faith scores, and their apocalyptic forms are buffs rather than anything magnificent. Having them as Willpower 7+, Faith 3 mortals with some really fancy Investments and stats works. They can't use Lores anyways, their magic comes from their Demonic Relics.
>>94806659All of Dante's physics defying antics clearly indicate use of the Lore of the Fundament, though.
>>94806644Our protagonist can walk through sunlight. I'm currently not yet sure if that's something inherent to his bloodline or a rare anomaly.
>>94806692Not if he has turbo-charged Strength and Athletics. Anything more should be added to Rebellion, because he's basically a mortal who can use Faith to fuel minor Numina until he picks up a Devil Arm.
>>94806459context for old cave dwelling me?
>>94806459Who?>>94806485Those are pretty neat.
>>94806977>Those are pretty neat.Check out the Nephilim in the Storyteller's Guide for a more powerful kind of demon blooded.
Here's Dante as he was at the start of DMC3, before he woke Rebellion. The next post will contain his stats at the point he awoke after Vergil stabbed him with Rebellion.
>>94807277I have to explain a custom Merit for Dante that is necessary for his lifestyle, and befits how demons react to him as a Nephilim. Reverse Reaper means he can harvest the Faith of Demons that witness his Apocalyptic Form. The existance of the Nephilim is so alien to them that they begin to fear that he is superior to them, and unconsciously offer him Faith.

Are there any interesting Archery builds for supernatural archer?
>>94807947If you're playing CofD there are a few Fighting Styles for it. Bowmanship, and Combat Archery are in 2e's Hurt Locker. The former is more about range and precision shooting, the latter about being in close and maneuverability. 1e's Armory has Archery but it's a bit of a mix of the above with less of the fun new things to do. There are probably some historic Merits in Dark Eras or something too.
>>94807356I've seen enough horny posters on /v/ to know that no matter how much of a goof Dante is, he's attractive to women and homos alike. Give him high appearance but absolutely no social skills then.
>>94807947Mage archer.Correspondence, Entropy and Forces allow you to change the trajectory of your shots or make them bounce off surfaces, the later two can also prevent them from losing speed with distance or hit harder. Correspondence + Matter can make you shoot through any distance.Matter and Forces can create crazy arrows (explosive, freezing, lightning, laser), add Prime for infinite ammo or pure-energy shots.Low levels of Mind can help you focus and aim better.Spirit to hunt ghosts and other... well, spirits. Depending on the edition you're playing and your ST you might even be able to shoot through the spirit realm.Time for "bullet time" (or arrow time in your case). Life for... uhh... I dunno. Mix it with Matter to turn an arrow into a centipede once it connects, maybe? Give yourself eagle eyes and bat ears for better aiming, strengthening your muscles and ligaments for a stronger draw... stuff like that.Using the right spheres you could essentially shoot magickal energy arrows that home in, explode and freeze the enemy, with infinite ammo and faster than sound.
>>94808022Sounds fair enough.
>>94808024I'd concede to Appearance 3 (women in the games see him as a slob) if there was a significant Flaw of Total Himbo where he must reroll every successful communication roll, and take the second result. Keep in mind that this is DMC3, before he learned about drip.
>>94808030>Life for... uhh... I dunno. What are stat buffs? jokes aside you can poison the arrows on top of that and similar bullshit.
I need a second opinion. Do you think that it's feasible for a lone Technocrat operative in the field to overlook one of his neighbors awakening and what was previously normal friendly conversations becoming a way for the latter to spy on him and learn his methods? It's a potential plot point in a cyoa I'm feeling out and I worry that it downplays the technocracy. On the other hand, I like the idea of the protagonist being against the technocracy, but at the same time learning magic their way and inadvertently playing into their worldview.
>>94808485Remember anon: in M20 canon the Technocracy was taken by surprise by the rise of social media of all things.A single operative, specially one that has grown complacent and fallen into comfortable habits, can easily overlook his neighbor awakening as long as said neighbor doesn't do anything that could give him away.So avoid vulgar magick at all costs or anything that could rise enough suspicions for the technocrat to use some kind of detection effect.
>>94808549>>94808572That's reassuring. In that case I'll go ahead with my original plan, which I liked more. It was either spying on a Technocrat or being mentored by an Etherite. I worried that I'd have to make the technocrat part of the syndicate to justify his incompetence.
>>94808594>being mentored by an EtheriteIf you are making a cyoa, please let us choose our tradition.
>>94808651You'll be choosing a convention first of all, and that's the plan. The idea is that after infiltrating the technocratic base, which is currently only crewed by a single lazy operative you get access to training manuals for a number of different conventions. So far I think of giving the player a choice of Iteration X, Progenitor or Void Engineer. Either cybernetics and mind powers, biological enhancements and disposable minions or high tec weapons and portals. It's still in the gameplay planning phase.

I’m watching 30 Coins right now. I just finished the episode where Fabio is introduced by the pope.Anything like that in WoD?How would you play an exorcist?
>>94808877I haven't watched that show, but if he's just your typical catholic exorcist, then maybe use Sorcerer's Summoning Binding and Warding path, except he specializes in Dismissal.
>>94808877I really liked 30 Coins. Interested in what you think of how it ends.
Sorry but how are you even meant to use minor factions like bloodlines or fera as a st if they are this rare?
>>94809637First of all: it's your world so you decide how rare things really are.But after that, the fact that something is rare doesn't mean it's impossible to find, just unlikely under mundane circumstances. Unless you're giving your players a "sandbox" type chronicle you have a lot of control over how mundane or strange their circumstances will be, and even if you're playing a sandbox style scenario you can still sneak those and give your players clues to find them.
>>94809637In addition, bloodlines and fera can be rare globally, but highly concentrated in a particular area, like the Old Clan all being in the Carpathians, or Samedi all being in Carribeans/New Orleans, or Balam being in South America, etc.
>>94808485You would be surprised with the amount of stuff happening in the neighbourhood that one can miss, especially involving direct neighbours.Source is Trust Me Bro.
small question; is there a source somewhere how large sabbat packs usually are?
>>94810186depends on the area and size, you can have packs that are the size of your average coterie thats like three to five dudes or monster ass twenty man packs.Every pack at the bare minimum needs a priest a ductus and somebody to boss around otherwise you're a pretty sad ass pack.
What is the inspiration for Golconda? How do you Anons use it in your games—if at all?
>>94810250i am asking because i only have two players right now so i am wondering how many npcs i should put into their packthe chronicle is meant to be about the pander rebellion and the players want to be involved in the rebellion on the side of the panders and i think having them as the ductus and priest would work, but like you said just that alone would be a sorry pack>>94810389the only "Golconda" version i used so far was the holy grail knight and it was the main goal of the chronicle and the one player who actually managed to become one to my surprise wanted to retire the character just after archiving chivalrous enlightenment despite the group of inquisitors that hunted them across europa (the group started in paris and first looked for the grail in the holy land) still being around so we never got to playing around with it
>>94810514Well, desu make the chronicle about building up a pack and have them start with nothing. Have them pick what NPCs they want or not. Let them choose, is it strength in numbers or the strongest of those who chaff under the elders and their reign. Social darwinism or found family. Leave that up to your players, its their pack after all!
>>94810864sounds like a great idea, thanks anon
I'm having a hard time figuring out where to place caerns and then deciding which tribes should be attached to them. Especially for some of the tribes, like Black Furies who tend to only like untouched wilderness. Good luck finding that in the metropolitan hellscape of half of the US. A lot of the remaining forests in those places are more like parks anyway. Man, I'm starting to understand why this shit is so dire for them.
Another dev diary.https://www.paradoxinteractive.com/games/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2/news/dev-diary-legend-of-the-nomadNot particularly good news. The first is that the character's backstory will be defined as you play instead of upfront.Because in Vampire the Masquerade, you make up your character's sheet as you go. Session zero is for the weak, right? Big, big blunder and another display that the people who made this game don't understand the source material. The other thing that struck me out of ordinary is the diminishing use of the name Phyre in the entire diary entry. Now it's The Nomad, which is a much better term than "Phyre the Vampire".Overall, this game still screams Flop to me.
>>94812083Every competent roleplayer at any table I've been at fleshes out their character in response to situations during play. There isn't any real benefit to frontloading all your choices if the play is going to effect your perception of the character. Which it will, because it always does. That's sort of a central part of roleplaying.
>>94812083This game should be renamed to Phyre Phestival
>>94812083>we're this far in the dev cycle and the story is still being changed all the damn timeuhh.... that's not a good sign at all
>>94812083They should give me the WoD IP.I would make porn games.
>>94812083From the skim of that article I did it seems like those choices are more like a session zero than what 1 had. Like, talking about your character to someone and making decisions and shit is what happens at a session 0 so I can't say I see the problem with a conversational approach
>>94812314Session Zero is about your mortal life and being a fledgling desu

>>94812413Session Zero has this name because it's supposed to happen before Session 1.If you're already playing by the time you start making those decisions then they're not part of Session Zero. You can have a make-shit-up-as-you-go types of games, but then why is it that there's so much material involving Session Zero promoted by the very same people promoting this game?It couldn't possibly be that it's because the game itself is a make-shit-up-as-you-go type of development, right? >>94812466>What if they're just a fraud rolling to convince people whatever legend just got mentioned is also secretly about them? What if they're just a fraud rolling to convince people whatever legendary game is in the title is the franchise they belong?
>>94812435Kramer Hentai Adventure in World of Darkness aka Meet n' Fuck flash games.Serious answer? Probably weird ass games that mix visual novel, dating sim, mystery solving and even some combat to spice things up. Lots of sex but lots of lore and character interactions. One for each splat, even though it'd be impossible to adapt Mage's freeform magick to any game.
>>94812588Making your backstory during a chat vs in a menu is functionally identical. The game won't be good anyway, you don't need to bend over backwards to create shitty arguments why that'll be the case,
>>94810186Could be anything from three dudes to two dozen. Natural attrition probably keeps them in the 3-8 range though. Related, but am I the only one who would like more attention given to the nomadic packs? I think they're closer to the "ideal" of the Sabbat, plus they let the Sabbat project force into areas where they have zero held territory. >>94810514Aren't there some packs that think the Ductus is a fake and gay position and only have Priests?
>>94812605>Anon did not read the articleTwo important points.Point number one, Bloodlines had a bit of a questionnaire for you to define what your character would be like. This was optional but it was there, so, uh, your first point is kinda moot. Not exactly the same thing but you still had the option to create a character through a conversation of sorts. If you want another example of a game that did things like that, look at the classics of the Ogre series, Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle. Those are games that have been remade and relaunched a dozen times and inspired a whole bunch of other games. Point number two, if we're gonna be talking about Session ZERO then it needs to happen before you start playing the game. You can always iron out certain details about your backstory as you go, that's not a big deal, but defining everything about your character only when it becomes relevant to the story is very different from using dialogue to define who your character is. If you want an example of the type of game that does this sort of backstory building, the most famous example is Dragon Age: The Veilguard.I think when you compare the inspirational material for these particular systems on BL1 vs BL2, it's very obvious which inspirations and systems have a positive legacy and which ones are not.I also think if you're gonna try and school people on what they dislike about something, it would help you if you actually bothered to read the damn dev diary so you understand what people are talking about, instead of trying to be a smartass and ending up making a damn fool of yourself.

I like to get basic backstory and character details done ahead of time so I have a good jumping off point, and then flesh it out and add detail during play. I figured this is more or less how everyone does it, with some leaning more into the backstory and more leaning into in-play but still being somewhere on this spectrum. Either way is it worth arguing about when the game looks like ass, has looked like ass for a long time, and will almost certainly be ass?

>>94814136But then you got the "family" part. Obviously, this character must be deeply delusional and doomed to Wassail, but it's a question of when. The Beast is totally uninhibited as long as there's a target, but what happens when you have no more good targets accessible? Especially when you're gonna be so intimate with your ghouls?
Hot take: I don’t mind the Red Talons’ "no Homids" ban being retconned in W5. It’s not even that hard to come up with an in-universe reason for the change.Griffin, for all his misanthropy, is not stupid. In the Era of Apocalypse, he can no longer afford to be picky; there just isn’t enough wolves to sustain an all-wolfborn Tribe anymore. Of course, a potential humanborn Talon would have to be themselves a misanthrope, or at the very least someone who feels more kinship to the wild than their own species.
>>94812083I think you're very much overstating the point. The games we abusively call RPGs on computer - games that trie (pretend) to emulate tabletop RPGs - are utlimately games of a very different cloth from their source. If only: there is no significant emergent storytelling in computer RPGs so far, that I know. The fact is that they often need to be functionally different, or that they can have dissimilar benefits from similar tools That said:I see nothing inherently wrong with the way they're going with character definition for BL2. As always, it's going to be a matter of execution.Let's take that example from the dev-diary:>The Black Hand locked you behind iron doors under Paris, and you only escaped the blade by crawling through sewage. Now, you can let the player define that at character creation, but that means leaving an extensive enough corpus for new players to know and understand what it entails for their character and what it means for the game they're setting. In tabletop, where much of the narrative tools are front-loaded, that's not much of an issue (it can be, but usually workable). In video game form, you're limiting yourself to a subfaction of fans (and even then - the Black Hand is fluid enough in presentation that things can vary strongly from one DM to another) and a very limited audience of fussy people (of which, I'm sad to say, I probably am) willing to spend hours reading data at character creation. Giving the context in play and /then/ letting the player decide is perfectly sensible.(That said, given that other example with Constantinople/Prague/Venice, I'm wondering how well the game will do all that.)

Been a while but the impression the game left me was of being more plot-driven than character-driven. Dark Urge notwithstanding, it's doesn't really matter who the character is and what its past was. I'm a fairly casual WoD fan, your usual VTMB player + Hunter: The parenting watcher. Is it true that that werewolves practiced incest rape eugenics? The person I was talking to actually plays the TTRPG's but they also think warhammer orcs are racist caricatures that turn blacker the more they fight so I'm not sure how accurate/biased their info may be.
>>94816516>Is it true that that werewolves practiced incest rape eugenics?Sort of. >>94816516It's a little exaggerated but not an outright falsehood. I'm not a WtA expert so I may be wrong about this.Werewolves have issues breeding true. They need to fuck kinfolk, that being people with some werewolf blood but not enough to change, in order to have a chance at making a Werewolf. Werewolf + Human may result in Kinfolk. Kinfolk are generally treated like second class citizens at best and are seen as being obligated to fuck Werewolves to produce more Werewolves. There is also some lore about them being naturally submissive to Werewolves but idk if that's objective or said by a werewolf in character bullshit. Let me be the first to say to you, it's fine as you learn more about WoD if you don't like an entire gameline. They're very different flavors of games and you're under no obligation to treat every gameline as canon at your table.

>>94816990Nobody can have a Hollow One GF, Anon. She's not gonna be Hollow anymore if you're stuffing her in.
>>94816726>tribe>clan equivalentGoing by the approach to what clans are, the nearest W:tA equivalent is actually the collection of five different forms that the Garou can assume, because they represent a different approach in pop culture to being a werewolf. Glabro is the Wolf Man, Crinos is The Howling, Hispo is American Werewolf in London, and Lupus is old legends about just turning into a normal wolf, or as a flip-side, Homid represents a wolfwere turning into a regular human.Meanwhile, even if you have the heritage of a tribe, they might not let you in, or you might decline to join them. Vampires don't really have that range of options; you get embraced, you're the sire's Clan, or they screw up and you're a Caitiff, end of story.Tangentially, there are some tribal Gifts that add or modify forms, so eventually, they gain some slight additional similarities, but only slight, and some of them can get weird; while the Stargazers have their shtick of using cultivation to access Crinos attributes in Homid, Silent Striders in their old tribe book had Pharaoh form, which didn't make them particularly wolfy as such.
>>94817034What’s the deal with unfunny dog?Can we have a German shepherd instead?
Does anyone know what book it was where they talk about how age can effectively lower one's generation? 13th gens were considered thinbloods in the dark ages, but in the modern day they are considered normal vampires without any of the associated thinblood flaws. I was just wondering if there was any canon material I could refer to on this, instead of relying on head canon.
Does anyone here have any experience with Siren?
>>94816516Werewolf tends to be the most nuanced game, so the answer is always no, but yes. Like everyone else has said, Garou like to hook up with kinfolk, but only some are doing it for the explicit purpose that it's more likely to produced more Garou. The real reason for most individuals is that kinfolk are the only mortals who can see you shape shift and not lose their shit and end your life with them. It used to be a rule that for any week you spend with non-Garou you had to make rage rolls to see if you wolfed out and ruined your life with them. Most Garou would not rape, because of other Garou found out they'd most likely be pissed. Especially if it's kinfolk because the probability that that's their cousin rises exponentially. When Garou fuck wolves it's because their wolf forms are actually dumber and more bestial. They're not humans that turn into wolves, they're a creature that is both wolf and man. And yeah, Silver Fangs do explicitly practice eugenics, and to a far lesser extent certain Fianna try to play match-maker, but most don't give a shit enough, especially once it goes beyond "are they kinfolk".
>>94816516The thing that you have to remember on this is prior to w5, the product of two werewolves - a Metis - is always sterile. Which means Kinfolk are necessary for the continuation of the species. w5 removed metis entirely for ??? but it was there for a long ass time.Even if you remove the sterility from a metis, their birth form is the big ass war form, making them real fucking dangerous to raise. You wanna deal with the temper tantrum of a 'roid raged midget made of teeth and hate?
>>94817770It's because they neutered the Garou. The Garou are problematic, but that's the point. All of them are shit headed murder machines, almost like there's a theme that might makes right and that choosing violence doesn't make you a very nice person. Metis are problematic because "metis" the word is a slur or something, their status in the nation makes it ableist, and they wanted to get rid of breeding entirely because they're sex regressive petit-bourgeois. Also kinfolk aren't strictly necessary to make Garou, offspring with normal mortals can still become werewolves. Instead they're necessary for Garou to interact with human and wolf society because they creep everyone out and are prone to fits of murder.

>>94817850>All these commie buzzwordsI understand everything you're saying, but I fucking detest the that I do: The fact that everything is filtered through such a 'lens' to use the parlance, is a large part of what I see wrong with modern day writing. A lot of contemporary writers need to come to terms with the fact that including 'problematic' elements does not equate to endorsement, especially if you cast the element in an unreasonable or distasteful light (which WtA always did with the treatment of Metis), and frankly without the narrative conflict that arises from elements you risk leaving yourself without a story to actually tell.

This, of course, is rumor and hearsay. Nothing to concern yourself with too greatly.there is also this in the dav20 book that says>It is possible, I’m told, for the youngest of us to create a vampire themselves, but it is rare as few of you have the strength to do the act, physical or political. Without the physical power, the victim simply dies. Without the political power, some angry elder kills you both for the having the audacity to try it. We don’t tend to bother counting Generation after the Twelfth, as anything further removed from Caine can scarcely be called a vampire at all. and the 13th generation flaw says the can't embrace flaw is encouraged but optional>Thirteenth Generation (2 points): By some strange twist of the supernatural, you were Embraced by a member of the Twelfth Generation. Your sire may not have even expected this to come to pass, and it certainly worriesthe powers-that-be, for you are something that should surely not exist. The difficulty of any rolls to activate your Disciplines is increased by one. At Storyteller discretion, you may also face other increased difficulties when you brush up against those who are frightened or suspicious of what you are. Strongly consider taking the Cannot Embrace or the Weak Blood Flaws as well.so by raw in dav20 you could have a entire brood of 14th and 15th generaiton vampire but nobody would bother to count past 12 so they would be considered 13th generation and very likely killed if found out

>>94818388Unbiased History is not supposed to teach proper history. It presents shameless propaganda as if it were proper history. That's why it's called "Unbiased" History. It's a humour channel for people who know a thing or two about history. It has some educational value like most works that tackle the subject do, but it isn't through accurate depictions of history; that's not the point of the channel. The main point of the channel is to make people laugh. If you don't find that type of humour funny, that's just a matter of taste. To each its own and yadda yadda. The other point is to showcase how propaganda is used to justify all sorts of things, by providing unashamedly biased narratives about the subjects it depicts. This last point is something I think the series does tremendously well and its probably the reason why it has a cult following online. Most people only watch the Rome series and think it's just shameless propaganda with no purpose other than to cater to Romanoboos, but if you watch the Unbiased History of Israel episode (especially after watching any of the sequences in Unbiased History of Rome involving any of the Jewish revolts) this Other Point I mentioned becomes clearer. The channel started as a shitpost on /his/ several years ago and ended up becoming a proper series later. Unbiased History of Rome gets surprisingly good with its narrative around the halfway point and has some emotional high notes that make you wonder how in the heck someone can make you get invested in a dumb shitpost about chads and wojaks like that. When it comes to the Fera, I know there's canonically a Gurahl Caern of Wisdom in the Pyrenees, but I don't know about the rest.

Honestly though do whatever you think is fun, I just lost interest in posting because it feels like nobody is willing to have their OC lose, let alone die. >>94820815I don't think it's an execution issue but an intention issue. You can introduce another character, or set up a threat and then abruptly stop posting. I have a problem - I promised my tremere player a session in Vienna, completely forgetting that Vienna by Night is only in german. >>94822194I think it could go either way. If it happens, Mage would be most likely after Wraith. >>94822219Considering how poorly W5 sold how poorly it's been received, and that there's been a recent change in direction there, I don't think that's gonna happen. Considering who's in charge now, I'd say there's a bigger chance of a Dark Ages 5th Edition happening next than a Mage 5th Edition.Which would be yet another mistake; The whole of 5th Edition needs to be taken to the back of the barn and introduced to Herr Hagelgevär.Regardless, until Bloodlines 2 comes out, don't expect any news on that front.
>>94822219I am not as pessimistic but I think that Paradox isn't going to be rushing to print anything else. Both because W5 was a bit of a flop both in terms of sales and reception, and because let's be honest here. World of Darkness is basically "Vampire the Masquerade and all its increasingly less popular friends"
>>94822345>2345Paradox isn't known for continuing to support failing products. They're known for aggressive plug-pullings, as a matter of fact.I don't see a sale of the IP because I don't think the World of Darkness is seen as a single product like Imperator: Rome, for example. The World of Darkness comes packed with an entire ecosystem; when you buy anything from the series's back catalogue on the STV, Paradox gets a cut. When someone buys anything from CofD, Paradox gets a cut, and so forth. When someone buys anything Exalted, Paradox gets a cut etc.So I wouldn't be surprised if internally the brand was seen as essentially their TTRPG/RPG Division in the same sense they have a GSG Division. When Imperator: Rome underperformed they didn't stop making Grand Strategy Games, they just stopped supporting Imperator and moved on to Victoria 3 etc. So what I think is gonna happen is that 5th edition as a whole is gonna be sunset as a product and something else will come in. Like, think about it: Why would ANYONE that has any sort of minimal problem with V5 or W5 etc ever buy into any other product of the edition? You fuck one of those game lines up, you fuck the entire edition, essentially. I'm a huuuuuuuge Magefag and even Stewie Wieck came down from the Heavens and handed over the best Mage edition ever made for 5th edition, I'm not sure if I'd even arse myself with reading that damn thing out of how badly everything else in the World of Darkness has been treated by the edition.
>>94821909Not too fond of the change to "The Ministry", but for some reason I really dig the French translation, "Le Sacerdose".>>94814925Hopefully I don't mix too much my own version with V5's new stuff:- Similar to the Beckoning, nomad packs and Sabbat elders are moving around in the middle east and other part of the world to actually wage war agasint elders - if you ever wanted to actually play vampire shadow war, that's a cool set up.- Byproduct of this, the superstructure that tied the balkanized packs broke down, or is breaking down, and the Sabbat is now made of smaller structures that don't tie together properly.- System-wise, the Sabbat has now been made an NPC faction.- Following that, as a way to simpllify things for DMs, V5 soft-changed some aspects of the sect: packs are now defined by a single common path, the vaulderie now "blurs" so to speak clans by homogenizing the heartblood of the members. I honestly think there's some potential here if willing to work with it.
>>94820564>normandie not mentioned meh
>>94822435I mean, I think you're overestimating how much the average player cares about WoD as an overall system. However, you are correct in that paradox (like most major companies) is very money oriented. Hell, you can see that in how the 5th edition of WoD is done. It's been farmed out to different companies for the most part. And since w5 didn't do great, they might be less motivated to find someone to write M5 for them.I don't think paradox is likely to sell off the IP. There's enough key people at Paradox who seem to like the idea that they own WoD, and not enough of a demand to sell it.I think the most likely scenario we're going to be looking at for an M5 book is that Paradox isn't likely to seek out a partner, but might accept pitches.
What character concept that you want to play?Talked about it on /schrekt/ already, but I’ll do it here too.I want to play what I call the Banshee. Basically a really old and powerful daughter of cacophony from England/Ireland, almost mute and with a special curse. The curse is that she creates a form of minor blood bond whenever she feeds on the same person three times (per X time). Whenever one of those who she’s bonded to is about to die, or dies, she goes into a wailing state. Sort of like a frenzy.
>>94822576>The curse is that she creates a form of minor blood bond whenever she feeds on the same person three times (per X time)A bit like the daeva?
>>94822576As far as Vampire goes, the character I am playing in /schreck/ is the tuned-up-to-eleven-because-there's-no-ST-to-tell-me-what-to-do version of the last Vampire character I played, in very abstract terms.
>>94822607Just read the wiki, and a bit like that yeah. The idea is that back in the old country she would feed on a family line/clan. Which goes with the legend of banshees belonging to families and announcing one’s death, as well as mourning it.>>94822710I’m thankful for /schrekt/ for allowing us to do a little bit of WoD while we no-game
>>94821968Weirdly enough, I like them for the same reason I dislike them. Their very existence put into doubts many things taken from granted within the setting, from the abrahamic mythos to the distinction between clan and sect. They're shit stirrers that stir shit for just being, what's not to love? While I'm at it, since I've been experimenting with some rules in most recent sessions, among which, having a setite PC,I offered the player an alternative/additional bane of sort with the concept of "offering oneself to the blood": I will offer the player to take control of the character for up to a scene while /something/ ("The Will of Set") acts through it, in exchange for recovering Stains - the experience is traumatic, yet the vampire feels strangely elated in the aftermath. Not too satisfied so far, but it's better than nothing, I guess... I somewhat resented how V5 introduced that theme of elders talking though the blood - complete with a fluff example - yet no rules to make it happen.
>>94819429>>94819483>>94819631>>94820293Metis is also a word referred to a shapeshifting Goddess from greek mythos. In Rage Across the World relased in early 2000s, they already stated that Metis (garou breed) and Metis (slur) are different words. Funny enough, I think lots of people around the world only now know about "Metis as a slur" because of the Metis removal from the books. Nobody gave a shit about it and the only people who complained about this who were actually from that ethinical background are like... A bunch of people you can count of your fingers.Really: People in Europe see "metis" as a just another word for "mixed breed" because that's what it means.>>94819620"Metis" is more of a general term. If we would translate for portuguese, it's literaly "mestiço". I thank everyday PTBR translation for the marvelous localization and put "Impuro" instead because Brazil is a "metis" country. It wouldn't make any sense. "Impuro" is way better because it still denotes the whole stigma towards this breed, and denotes it in a way more explicit manner. In fact, if they wanted to solve this issue, just rename it to "Impuro" and call it a day.>>94820564According to France by Night, Pyrenees there's a Caern protected by Gurahl and it's kinda of a secret, and they have ties with ecoterrorists groups. A pack of Silent Striders went there in an attempt to talk to them, but they disappeared. If you know french, go read this book. >>94822735My character on /schreck/ isn't something that'd work on most chronicles as a PC, and as an NPC you don't get to explore certain concepts in depth so it's yet another character with a long-ass backstory that only lives in the ST's head.I've never been one for MUSH and the likes of it but I've been enjoying /schreck/ quite a lot since I started it some weeks ago. >>94822576Gonna ask some questions here not as criticism of the character, but to try and work as a Wall you can bounce ideas off here.>The curse is that she creates a form of minor blood bond whenever she feeds on the same person three times (per X time). Why would Mortal blood lead a Vampire to develop a blood bond with them?>Whenever one of those who she’s bonded to is about to die, or dies, she goes into a wailing state. Does that happen if she's blood bonded through regular means to a Vampire? And, now on the funny side, do you realise this can be used to create faster-than-light communication? Each bonded Banshee is a byte of information. You align the Banshees in order in one place and align the people the Banshees are bonded to in another place, far away. Then you kill bonded people in a manner to produce a byte code that can be instantly read across the globe via which Banshee in which position in the order is frenzying. Such a mechanism seems stupid, but it also fits thematically with a screaming Banshee. Now let's get serious again.>Sort of like a frenzy. Why not a proper Frenzy? The Beast is inherently tied to the Vampiric condition.
>>94822837Sure>Why would Mortal blood lead a Vampire to develop a blood bond with them?Well, the concept comes from banshees being tied to families. The original take I had in mind was linking the curse to the her herd, but I thought that it would be weird to play. Plus it’d suck because you have to invest in the herd background, and it only comes into play when you’re about to permanently lose the investment.>How does such a bond work even when far away from someone she's bonded to?It’s a curse! It is fate! Though back in England she would haunt a single hamlet/village. So it’s not like it’s been explored before.>And, now on the funny side, do you realise this can be used to create faster-than-light communication? Why have no Giovanni made a computer out of skeletons lol>Why not a proper Frenzy? The Beast is inherently tied to the Vampiric condition.Well, I wanted to be tied to sadness and crying instead of bloodthirsty rage. Plus it’s more of a curse than something tied to the vampiric condition.
>>94822754>ImpuroThe problem with Impure as a term for Metis is that you can have an Impure with Pure Breed 5. It just makes no sense. You're a Pure Impure.I know you said you like the term, but Impure as a translation for Metis was another one of Devir's fuckups. >MetisIt'd be tremendously funny if Devir had kept Metis as the term, though. For the Anglos who are probably making big confused Psyduck faces reading this, allow me to explain why:"Métis" in Portuguese is a corruption of the word "meter," "to put it in". It is often used in the hanky-panky sense of putting it in.
>>94823081>It just makes no sense. You're a Pure Impure. The breed is impure but the blood isn''t. You can be weird like that. even if don't want to use that word you can just call them Stillborn, or Natimorto if you want to use another language, as an insult.
>>94823081Pure Breed for the name of the background is already weird when Legacy works much better. Impure with Legacy 5 fixes that.
>>94823598You seem to be missing what Pure Breed is supposed to represent or what is based on.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PurebredAnd what the hell is "Legacy"?
>>94823711Image all the bitches wanting your dick because you have pure breed 5.But you can't fuck no bitches.
>>94823763You can fuck her cousins, though.
>>94817850>and they wanted to get rid of breeding entirely because they're sex regressive petit-bourgeois.They wanted to get rid of breeding because the majority of Werewolf players don't want to spend their time thinking about optimal eugenics breeding schemes in order to pump out as many soldiers as possible, especially when such breeding schemes involve fucking wild animals. That's not sex-regressive, that's just not wanting Werewolf to be a game of eugenicist bestiality horror, but a more traditional, engaging and less weird and sexual sort of horror.
>>94824436>That's not sex-regressive, that's just not wanting Werewolf to be a game of eugenicist bestiality horror...tbf, the old books always maintained a 'feel free to ignore any element you consider retarded' take in the DM notes, which is something w5 doesn't seem to understand as it comes from a place of dictating to your table what is or is not acceptable for your game.>... but a more traditional, engaging and less weird and sexual sort of horror. Is splatterpunk traditional? It's kinda always been on the fringe since the very beginning.
>>94824436Who the fuck does that in-game, man? Have you ever even played Werewolf? Ngl Anon. You sound a lot like a shill.
>>94824436>the majority of Werewolf playersMr. Social Butterfly strikes again! Which election did you win to act like you're some sort of house representative?>don't want to spend their time thinking about optimal eugenics breeding schemesFucking Pokemon has breeding mechanics and it's a game for little children.Because fucking Pokemon, a fucking game for little children, understands that breeding for optimal results is an integral part of raising animals.A bloody game for bloody LITTLE CHILDREN understands this. It's been part of the game since its inception on Gen 1 in 1996. But not the game made for "mature" audiences.W5 is a joke and an unmitigated failure.
EAT MY TRIPS, YOU INFANTILISED SHILL
Crusader Kings, probably Paradox's biggest money-maker, has Eugenics and Breeding mechanics. But Werewolf can't have it... because "the majority of Werewolf the Apocalypse players don't want to THINK about optimal breeding schemes"? Who are they marketing this game for, mentally challenged people? I'd make sense, you have to be completely retarded to think Fifth Edition is worth spending any money on.
>>94824436>Werewolf players don't want to spend their time thinking about optimal eugenics breeding schemesAre you retarded? Player picks their PC’s breed (usually Homid) and then plays the game. That’s literally it.
>>94824821>as it comes from a place of dictating to your table what is or is not acceptable for your game.Story of every modern game, honestly. Somewhere after 2014, the idea that people can be doing something you don't approve of in private became a nightmarish thought for most creatives.I don't know why my first post quoted the wrong guy[/spoler]

>>94825264Speaking as a 'creative' (winning local scale writing competitions counts I suppose), they need to get the fuck over themselves. Interpretation (i.e. shit that's understood by the reader on their end) is where half the magic happens. Short of the audience making shit the fuck up, if they interpret something from the text you did not intend, or they take a logical progression you did not want to happen, that's entirely a skill issue. Learn2subtext, gitgud, etc.Because what's the alternative to realising you shouldn't be so precious about how people understand your writing? Inventing mind control technology?>Story of every modern game, honestly. I don't know if D&D5e is to blame, but that's where I first noticed it. Seemed to be in service of ensuring mundane actions could never eclipse cantrip utility, which is needless as the main strength of cantrips is they're always on demand no matter what.>the idea that people can be doing something you don't approve of in private became a nightmarish thought for most creatives.Once its your table, the only thing that matters is whether or not your players like where you're taking it. My table currently prefers what I'm doing compared to the book's handling, therefore, I will continue doing my thing until they state otherwise.
>>94822754Yeah, I already read France by Night. It's actually my primary source, in fact.
>>94822754>>94823081Funny thing: in France where I live, "metis" isn't really considered a slur. Mixed-race people use it to refer to themselves all the time.Same thing for "Romani" and "Gypsy". If you were to say to a French Romani that he's Romani, he'd probably ask you wtf is a Romani and call himself a Gypsy with unironic pride.>>94823711I like the implication that pure breeding in Garou is really just a social construct. Tells you a lot about Garou mentality and the kind of society the Garou Nation is.
>>94822754>>94825792You two seem to be forgetting that Garou DO hate their Metis. They’re seen as disgusting freaks of nature who should be ostracized by the community, if not outright killed. The Garou are 100% intentionally referring to them as Metis as a slur, instead of Crinos breed.
>https://x.com/DawnwalkerGame/status/1879910977484771411>vampire dark age game with backstory that is completely in line with davsee paradox you could have this
>>94824913>>94825216>No one includes the weird sex shit in their game.So you never interacted with kinfolk in your games? And even if you didn't, why have it in the lore? What sort of pervert do you have to be, for irrelevant blurbs about wife-beating, dog-fucking and eugenics to contribute to your "immersion?"
>>94823711It says right in the blurb you posted that pure breed only counts because you have renowned ancestors, and only then if you join the tribe they were part of. It can even be one guy who did something special who you are a distant descendants of. If you come from a long line of losers who all died right after being made cliath (they were late bloomers) then your pure breed doesn't mean shit.
>>94825569>be Silent Strider>do nothing>leave>"That damn harbinger of death, that entire breed is cursed. Not only that, they lay gypsy curses everywhere they go."Don't come around this caern again, boy.
>>94825906I didn't forget. That's why I wrote in my post:>"Impuro" is way better because it still denotes the whole stigma towards this breed, and denotes it in a way more explicit manner. When I wrote about "Metis being a general term", I was replying on a sense of PTBR translation. Anyway, I agree with you: People trying to go for "don't use 'Metis', use 'Crinos/Garou-born'" is ridiculous. Nobody is even remembering about native-canadians or their history everytime they play WtA. Books already said it's not same word. Hell, even if we tried to go for the angle "Actually 'Metis' is referred to Metis greek entity", it would still be wrong because Rage Across the Heavens already said they aren't related as well. It was just 90s habit of using foreign words because of globalization we were experiencing back in the day and they chose french. Simple as that.People need to touch more grass. Not even gonna talk about people complaining the existence of Metis ruins their experience with WtA because "they show everything that's wrong with society". No shit, sherlock. Who would've thought World of Darkness would use things inside their own universe to point out the rot of society?
