I love the frothing berserkers with moments of clarity and introspection. It's a nice narrative contrast.

Our rules are a fucking joke. Falax Blades carry the entire legion because of what I'm convinced is a typo (Breaching 4+ would make more sense with other balance choices GW made), Rampagers are only "great" because they get falax blades en masse, and every other option that's not a named character is dogshit. Red Butchers are a complete joke that leaves World Eaters with no useful Terminator melee except command squads, unless for some reason you need to bully a power armor squad with triple the points investment (including transport). Red Hands would be interesting if they weren't horrifically overpriced. Inductii are an active downgrade to an already meh at best unit, as is putting the character "upgrade" on any character at all.
The sad thing is it's entirely "small" issues that could be fixed with a single round of errata. Make Ravening Madmen apply to ID thresholds and Red Butchers & Inductii instantly become... not "good" in the same league as some legions, but serviceable. Adjust one or two numbers on the non-Falax Caedere weapons and suddenly they're fine. Tinker with Red Hand points and they'd be a nice alternative to regular destroyers. These are not huge, sweeping changes. But GW isn't going to make them.

Blood Angels have cool fluff and a nice selection of models. Stuff like the ofanim court is cool in concept, being secret vampire hunters within the legion. I do love the overall legion aesthetic, definitely on the fancier side of things.

Rulewise I find them to be a bit mediocre. Nothing that prevents them from winning or being decent, but +1 to wound is a bit boring in my opinion.

I hate that Sanguinius is practically mandatory for that +1 WS, feels like BA can’t actually compete without it as a melee legion compared to DA or SW, though that’s more of a issue with the current weapon skill system. Certain units are also noticeably weaker than their contemporaries, like crimson paladins or ofanim court.

Honestly, a lot of units in HH 2.0 need a revision. Small changes to buff some units and debuff others, but GW doesn’t seem to think HH needs any sort of balancing compared to 40k.

I thought the 1.0 idea of DA having a generic faction rule then paying for additional Hexagrammaton rules was pretty cool, even if most of those rules were just bad.

The current method just funnels you into always taking the same wing for a particular unit or the RoWs that just make you take wings that do nothing for certain units.

The Hexagrammaton rules in HH1 weren't bad, they were just massively over costed for what they did, even with the ability to stack different wings. For example: 25 points to re-roll Run, Fallback, and Thrust is ridiculous, but paying 5-10 points for it is fair. Same goes for the Hekatonystika abilities, too little bang for your buck.

Power Lance: Any model that has the cavalry keyword or is equipped with a jump pack, and has the ability to take a power spear may upgrade that power spear to a power lance for 5 additional points on top of the cost of the power spear itself.

Power lance uses the same profile of the power spear, but is 2 handed, and gains the following on the first round of combat in which they successfully made a charge move.
+1 str, Breaching 4+

i have a question in regards to justaerin, in how you guys equip them
so there's basically 2 choices i was looking at
1) 2 with tabars and 2 with thunder hammers and 1 with Multi Melta and Tabar and all with banestrike bolters
2) option was to make them all Tabars (1 guy with multi melta) and with Combi Meltas
i am also hesitant of thunder hammers, as they don't really fit sons of horus to my eyes

Their LA trait is arguably the best in terms of both gameplay and narrative. Everyone is just straight up better if things go their way, even a lowly tactical marine, but if they underestimate their opponent and end up stuck in the mud they're no better than anyone else. It's all about that killing cut.

You should be making whatever you think is cool no matter what, doubly so with SA and Militia because you're playing for the vibe and barely trying to eek out a win. The SA leman russ vanquishers and executioners are really good, and their infantry can put out a ridiculous amount of firepower, even if its strength 3. A tank list is a good idea, because your army lives and dies based on how many Vanquisher cannons you have. S9, AP2, Heavy 2, Brutal 2 is an extremely good stat line for any weapon, especially one on a durable platform with a 72" range. It's your go-to anti-everything tool and any list without multiple is just going to lose against even a bad Legion list.

eh, the Executioner is ok but is shit compared to the vanquisher which is the only good turret option by a mile. The vanquisher is so good, and by that I mean all the weapons should be about this level, you question why the other options even exist.
You will find that over half of the SA units are absolute shit, do not take if you want a chance of winning.

but also if you're one of the 14 Legions that can't be Sworn Brothers with Mechanicum it allows you to take advantage of bullshit like Forge Lord Warlord Traits for WS5 Vorax (Solar Marshal) or pseudo-Paragon (Silver-Iron Will), or abusing special rules like Lock-step (which can give you WS6 Vorax) and Iron Bulwark etc

WIP Sons of Horus Chaplain in Cataphractii. Literally just done the face and mask so far.
I'm torn on how to paint him. Red and black is my obvious choice, but I worry it'll be a bit too close to Justerin like that? I'll probably end up committing to it anyway, even though he's planned to run with a unit of normal Cataphractii at the moment I'm sure he'll lead Justerin one day.
