Vigilance is just the best.
>>96476716you dont, had an early godhand with Parhelion 2 out early on turn 3 or 4, and a friend had a total crashout resulting in insta scooping - which of course meant the other players had to scoop too.with an early Parhelion, you are still 3 entire turns/combats away of killing the first out of 3 opponents, there is plenty of time to at least try to figure something out. The kicker is: there are Voltrons in our playgroup that take out a player, and the whole table even, quicker. one of which is even in the roster of the one that had the meltie

The other colors and space stations have been pretty underwhelming but I really like Weapons Mnufacturing and am thinking of building a Sivriss/Street Urchin deck with it soon.As for the flavor, they could have done better but overall I liked it.

What's your highest average mana cost deck?>4.3>Teneb
Does anyone remember this elf from Duels of the planewalkeds 2013? I want to build a fun Yeva, Nature’s Herald deck that’s cheap. I don’t want to use craterhoof or some giga busted dinosaur or super power crept cards. I want stuff Uktabi orangutan or Indrik stomphowler, eternal witness etc. Does anyone who pilots this girl have suggestions or pointers? I think I can make it very cheap for around $50 since I won’t be running green suns zenith or survival of the fittest or other really strong green “staples.” The mana base might just be 34!forests and some mana elves Also is it possible to make a cute frog tribal deck, or ANY tribal deck outside the big tribes (goblins, dragons, zombies, soldiers, etc)? I think bloomburrow has some neat tribal interaction but there doesn’t seem to be any place where I can engage with it anymore.
>>96477417I should also mention that since CHB won’t be my finisher, I’ll run cheaper substitutes like overrun or overwhelming stampede or Garruk

Brand new, bought a precon and heading to lgs for the first time. I'm fine with chatting to new people but how do I lessen the awkwardness of having to ask for a game? The current plan was just to approach a group and ask if they need a 4th but I don't know what to do if I get rejected, just sit on my phone alone? What if there's a group already playing and nobody else around? I'm probably stressing out about this way too much
Does Omega, Heartless Evolution heal X for each opponent, or only once?
Who wins in a 1v1?Gay Bolas anon or Swordbro?
>>96476923How are zombies good? Genuinely don't know as I haven't seen them in a bit. All I know they can do is dump out some tokens and get some basic antheming. What shenanigans are they capable of?

>>96477662>Put X stun counters on each of those permanents and you gain X lifeyou only gain X. if you were meant to gain X for each targeted creature, it would be "for each of those permanents, put X stun counters on it and gain X life"
This is the most underpowered set of the past decade
>>96477746Good? Power creep ruins the game.
>>96477752You have to ban all sets before Spider-Man for that to matter. Releasing sets that are garbage will just result in people not using those sets. Standard is not going to suddenly be depowered from this shit set. It's just not going to use cards from it and Vivi will continue to rule.
>>96477731Zoomers

>>96477758They should instead just continue releasing lower power sets and let other things cycle out of use so the game can go back to some semblance of normal.
>>96477468I can't argue with that.
>>96477662Only the amount of differently named lands. If you flicker him or copy him you get enough life to make chewing through really annoying for your opponents but it's not the main point of the effect.

>>96477789>Rotate outThis is the edh thread
>>96477810Is that flippin Universes beyond?!?!?!?!??!?!//
>>96477789Anon that's not financially plausible. Releasing ONE underpowered set after an OP set (Masques, OG Kamigawa) is already financially disastrous. It's suicidal to intentionally release duds for over two years in a row because you're both causing the meta to stagnate AND not moving any cards off the shelf in that time. This is literally why Type 2 ended up failing at the goal it set out to accomplish. Sure you're no longer competing against the design mistakes from the start of the game's lifespan anymore, but you're still perpetually competing against the strongest cards from the last set.

Just realized that if you cast a permanent spell from exile this puts two +1/+1 counters on your entire board. Seems pretty damn good. Still wish they'd print a jund legend that cares about casting from exile though
>>96477925why can't JP manga just have one storyline and be done with it. it's either cancelled in the middle or does so well they need it to rehash the same plot for 30 years.
>>96477938Jesus christ as if flicker decks need another busted as fuck strategy. GodDAMN
>>96477783Western comics, specifically cape comics, are more like fanfiction. They're fan interpretations of old characters whose creators have passed on.
>>96477938Nah, not quite. When you cast a spell, you put it on the stack, which is a separate zone.So the permanent card you cast from exile would be entering from the stack, rather than from exile. It's also better with flicker than with casting exiled, since when you flicker the creature entering will also get a counter, but when you cast something from exile only the things already on the board will get counters.
>Vigilance, lifelink>When Mr. Negative enters, you may exchange your life total with target opponent. If you lose life this way, draw that many cards.Neat effect. But the absurd mana cost makes him feel like the face card for a starter deck from 2012
>>96477938Thieves' Auction.That is all.

>>96478013>Don't think I didOf course you didn't, you're retarded. You're saying that people like a character, so they're going to like the character's development getting erased or otherwise characters that aren't said character. It's stupid - you're talking about Spider-Man as if anyone likes OMD or that people are reading the spinoff characters. They're not - people like Peter Parker. They like iterations of his story. Nobody gives a crap about the Amazing Wheelchair Bitch or whatever.
>>96478026>why do so many stories be made>because people like the character!>waaaaahhAgain, there is no argument. Comics are the way they are because people like the characters. It doesnt have to make sense to your autismo brain
>>96477663GBA solos everything.
>>96477417Vedalken orrery and Vivien, champion of the wilds can serve as redundancies for Yeva. Temur sabertooth will be an all star for reusing ETB effects and retriggering creature based draw effects like soul of the harvest and elemental bond. While using ETB creatures like instant speed spells will be the main gimmick it still helps to have some mana sinks (Kamahl, Nemata, and ant queen were some options I used before) or a way to bank mana like with Omnath.

How do I make her good?
>>96476150>TQNot to interested in it really. I like the bug guys but the space suits all the humans have in the set not so much. The robots are also uninteresting. Which sucks since I like space things and was hoping this would be a fun space set. The only thing I've really added to a deck from the set was a Starfield Shepherd. Was thinking of building this, the king shit at LGS plays a suped up (pun-intended) Justice League deck and it just about wipes every other deck. I know James and the Giant Peach is super popular but even it has no chance against Justice League.Another thought, pirates of the caribbean is literally next week and terminator two weeks after that. So maybe I should hold off to find out what's the current hotness? I'd love to take this guy out, I know my wallets are deeper than his.

Been batting around the Knight deck thing again, looking through commanders since I'm already doing Syr Konrad for the Snow-Covered + Extraplanar thing, why bother doing only mono-white for Knights?I've seen some cool ones, from the more normal with Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir (A deck I had before), Jeskai Eowyn who cares about humans, Boros Elizabeth Taggerdy who gives draw and lets you play creatures smaller than her power on attack, Celes for Mardu grave knights, Adriana for blanket Melee, etc. Anyone have any opinions on Knights for a bracket 2-ish thing? Maybe 3 if I like the way it's playing.>>96478537>he doesn't just buy the version he likes mostweird

I feel like either will get screeched "cedh" at the first sign of a force of will. Also, why does bracket 4 have the biggest range of decks? At its floor, it's any pile of jank with enough game changers (or god forbid, land destruction), and it's ceiling is fringe cedh. Every issue I've had playing in this zone are gaslit players who don't run interaction.

I want to make a deck where I warp in shittons of huge artifact and red creatures, and I need ideas. Obviously Blightsteel will be one of them, but I need more. I'm planning to use sundial to keep everyone on field once I cheat them in, and plan to go fishing for sundial with stuff like gamble. Anyone got any recommendations?
>>96479513sort: cmcdirection: descending
>>96479513dropping this early is always a good laugheven if you can't sundial it, just means you can cast it later for full effect againremember warp means you don't have to be married to sundial-like shenanigans, a lot of cards it warps out are perfectly fine to just full cast later on, especially if you have some exile synergy, since casting them from exile is independent of Tannuk himself so you can't get screwed over

Magic cards are too verbose, we need more terms to summarize long sentences."Whenever you attack, exile the top 2 cards of your library, you may play them until end of turn" This is now called flurbo. >Whenever you attack, Flurbo 2Now we need short hand terms for attack triggers. Multi-Engage: Flurbo 2Creature dying? Dunk. 'This creature' -> Boronko, 'any creature' Boronko CalvoBoronko Calvo Dunks, Flurbo 2, Mill 3 then gain 4 life on Engage

>>96480578This question is typically asked sarcastically, or critically, when a player (often of the bitchy variety) does nothing but 'interact' by mass removal and slowing the game down tremendously. Like a monkey throwing shit, the deck likely spams removal without any sort of end goal.
>>96481978the only time I have ever heard it used is by shithead youtubers and their mediocre decktechs

>>96482015This guy is emblematic of what Yugioh was like when he was printed. He has so much text because he's basically a whole deck compressed down into one card. The deck is built to find him, play him, pay off his resource effects, recycle him if he gets removed, and add additional free agents that are just as strong onto the board if possible. Archetype design trying to do its thing 100% of the time on turn 1 ruined Yugioh since the resource limitation was cards in play. Konami started designing cards to always be able to find the rest of its plays if you find any of its other pieces back in around 2015 and the game snapped in half and turned into what it is today because of it. If you play Edison 2010 or HAT 2014 the game actually makes sense as long as you know the basic rules like the phases, how to summon, effect timing, the battle phase, etc.
>>96481967>>96481992Why are you stopping at just words and these are still too long. Lets go to numbers and letters and throw it all in the rules.>"Whenever you attack, exile the top 2 cards of your library, you may play them until end of turn" >This is now called [11]. >Whenever you attack, [11] 2>Now we need short hand terms for attack triggers. >[12.a]: [11] 2>Creature dying? [13]. 'This creature' -> Boronko, 'any creature' Boronko Calvo>Boronko Calvo [13], [11] 2, Mill 3 then gain 4 life on [12.a]Finally, good text. The best part is that you can infinitely expand them too. When we get Glorp Shitting in "Zepo Depos on Ravnica x Tarkir" years down the road, because they introduced 6 new mechanics every set and revisited none of them, we'll be able to call them [1425.a.41] which is a combination of [1425.a] and [41].
>>96482100exactly, we need to go further, a hash per sentence that has to be read with ai
>>96482085>Archetype design trying to do its thing 100% of the time on turn 1 ruined YugiohDoes Magic have anything similar? The only thing I can think of is ritual/cantripping your way into a Storm combo, but you're at the mercy of what you draw, for the most part

It's all designed to work exactly how the developers want it to and the variance comes from the rest of your deck being made up of free counterspells. Anyone who plays can tell you I'm not joking.

God so help us if it's several even slightly obscure ones together.
>>96482360Obligatory thanks mr. skeletal to avoid his wild ride.
>>96482334>in common or uncommonReally limiting yourself, there. The vast majority are rare
>post on here a few days ago comparing the Spiderman set to Assassin's Creed>some anons disagree with me>TCC puts out a video shitting on Spiderman and saying some of the same things I saidI feel vindicated.
>>96481717What you are going through is probably the hardest, grimmest normal part of being a parent. Just remember that you having a family doesn't mean you lose the ability to be your own person. It is really important both for yourself and as a healthy model for your kids. If you don't have enough time for friends, you may want to talk to your wife about you having some more you time. Of course, that is easier said then done. You deserve to be happy anon. Hang in there. This guy >>96481759 can go fuck himself.
>>96482433>a known retard agreed with meIm clapping for you fr
>>96482433Doesn't feel so good when other people yumming your yuck, huh "professor"?
Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe shouldn't be game changers. People need to learn to just pay their taxes.
>>96482433Bro I felt the soul draining from his body. You KNOW he's dreading the fact we're getting 5+ more Marvel sets and this is Mark's passion project so there's zero chance they do anything but double down.
>>96482441Carving out you time is healthy I mean
>>96482464I think it's only really Mark's passion project because he's passionate about making money
>>96482464We're getting like 3 more Marvel sets at most.
>>96482456Agreed. Everyone should pay the price.
>>96482346Awaken is already a keyword FYI.https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/AwakenMight want to choose another word that's an antonym to manifest/cloak like solidify, decloak, unmask (we have card name and mechanic name overlap already), or something else to that effect.Aside from that I see what the intent is and as someone else who enjoys some face downs I also wish we had some kind of fixer for ETBs on facedowns. This is probably the most sane way of going about it.The only thing is that if you're making a deck based on getting important ETBs you're better off just making a flicker deck which is already in those colors and you're just adding a lot of unnecessary complexity to turn them on.It also feels like this card is over centralizing to what the deck would want to do and without it up your deck becomes dysfunctional. Can you give a specific example of a card you would want to enable with this commander?
>>96482496There's 6 infinity stones + the gauntlet. At the current release schedule of 1/set that's 6 more sets.
>>96482538Kind of a silly assumption anon
>>96482538>5 more sets where the only remotely decent card is an Infinity Stone mana rockGrim, but at least my wallet can sleep easy.
>>96476858ive been playing with the same pod for 6 months so we dont gotta do that shit
>>96482332>WHAAAA THE first and only the very first noncreature spell EACH TURN COSTS ME A QUADRILLION MANA MORE TO CAST?>i scoop in response, literally unbeatable you suck tremendously
>>96482639Esper Sentinel is kinda a pain in the ass, but I don't see it as a huge problem in EDH.Play more removal or play more creatures and it won't lose you the pod on its own.
>>96476858>around what bracket do you guys want to play? That's about as far as it goes now. My locals is pretty good for keeping the vibes right and not being too confrontational. It helps that people mostly play at a 2.5-ish average.
I like the idea of a thief of sanity.dek where you play your opponent's stuff, but how good is it actually? I keep imagining situations where you spend all your mana on exiling stuff from the opponent's deck, only to get stuff you can't cast because its too expensive, or stuff that is too synergistical to their gameplan and that doesn't do much for you. It seems too slow, even for casual tables. Anyone got experience with it?
>>96482538The article where they talked about the throughlines through the Marvel sets (the Stones and Hero/Villain stuff mostly), they called out Spider-Man having only one Stone, which suggests to me that the others will have at least 2 each. Or more likely, 2, 2, 1 + Gauntlet.
>>96482687people put good cards in their decks generally so it's pretty goodbut getting their stuff stolen makes people salty sad so expect to get focused
>>96482687>>96482708>but getting their stuff stolen makes people salty sad so expect to get focused100%. People will either find it amusing or hate your fucking guts and refuse to even let their cards be on your side of the table. I've seen people scoop when stuff like Threaten is played
>>96482687FF added a couple of decent Rakdos thief cards in Locke and Kefka so i kind of want to give ol Donny a try too.
>>96482708Yeah but it feels like you could cut the middleman and put good cards in your deck instead. That's the problem, the opponents are going to be playing good cards, when you're first playing some garbage to get their good cards and THEN play it. Its just fundamentally slow
>>96482745It's card advantage is what it is.Plus you extra value for playing stuff you don't own, plus you deny cards to your opponents like opposition agent. And if you're doing Don Andres you're also yoinking enemy creatures and sacrificing them. It's a weird way to get your removal, damage and card advantage but it's not fundamentally wrong or bad.
>>96482745Not everything has to be meta. People are allowed to play lower-powered/slower decks. It's called "having fun" anon, you should try it sometime.
>>96482774plus cards that give you extra value for playing stuff you don't own*
>>96482424sad
>>96478289This card is actually a really sweet equipment commander. You can tap your Equipment to pay for their own equip cost.
When's the next arcana?
>>96482639>Thalia but half the manacost and only applies to your opponents is a good cardIt's okay anon I know you're new to the game so you don't remember an era D&T was a leading Legacy deck.
>>96482907UB when?
>>96482537Scry shenanigans, 4 colors so you can mix/match etbs and synergies with flicker because you won’t need to pay to flip if you use conjuring closet.
>>96482263Played a bit of that at a convention lately. Yes it is actually kind of interesting with how it handles energy and playing cards. At least compared to something like One Piece.
>>96482919Far too niche. I can't see anything in that sphere ever getting anything. We probably won't see any books in general getting stuff (that aren't already huge touchstones like LOTR) except maybe some Sanderson stuff.
>player stole a commander and countered mine 3 times>2nd deck where he just sits there and does nothing but counter and remove shit until he scoops of boredomHoly shit, I thought half these stupid wss stories were fake.
>>96482907I fucking love tarot themes, Yugioh fucked theirs up, I would love Magic to do a whole series of major arcana as long as they're good
>>96482919Shin Megami Tensei UB is my long shot request. As far as I know Atlus hasn't done anything with the franchise in the TCG sphere.
>>96483026Return to Innistrad with a Tarot theme? Or a new plane with Tarot as a major influence?
>>96482775Sure, but your deck also needs to be functional for you to have fun. I play in a bracket 2 table where we're playing fucking planechase most of the time and one of us only plays precons, and even then i think the archetype might be too slow for my table
>>96483051Neither. Just occasionally we get another card based on major arcana. That's what the original post was referring to.
Is it actually reasonable to play this in Zedruu? Seems like it can double as a boardwipe and fuel for Zedruu in the lategame. Thieves Auction would've worked for this if it didn't tap all the permanents and leave me open for a whole turn cycle.I kinda wish there was a permanent scramble-y effect like this that evened them out among players instead of doing it randomly.
>>96482907Oh I meant to say here >>96483026 my vote is High PriestessIt represents intuition, dreams, and the subconscious. I don't know how that would translate to magic. Its element is water, so probably at least blue, but I imagine they'd make it izzet too. Maybe something to do with scrying and naming cards. Maybe rip off some of the miracle casting that Aminatou had? I am a big fan of "cards in your hand have [insert casting mechanic]" like Jhoira and Bohn.Honestly now I'm just thinking of cards I want that give effects to cards in hand like>Cards you cast from your hand have overload. The overload cost is equal to the card's mana value plus (5)You'd maybe put that on something like The Tower since that's the tarot for disaster
>>96483137I understand now, I think what you want is a metacycle of legendaries spread across sets and releases?
>>96483197Ye
>>96482924Yeah I kind of got that feeling as well as some other cards that return things to the bottom of your deck. Also I wasn't really looking for the general pool of cards but rather specific names you want this design for. Like the card is designed to do one specific thing and it does it perfectly fine but I wanted to see if you wanted to enable a particular card or two.

>>96478884He's quite unique and has plenty of different uses.
>>96481440>my initial dosage was incorrect>therefore the entire thing is a fraud! You accuse others of looking for outside solutions to their problems while bemoaning your inability to solve them yourself. Never does the thought occur to you that there are tools you can use to address these problems, but that the tools need to be calibrated.Adderall absolutely does help with ADHD, assuming that it is prescribed by a responsible doctor who follows up on how it's affecting you and works with you to arrive at the correct dosage. Being medicated is a huge part of what allows me to run D&D campaigns, build decks, and engage with my hobbies fully. It focuses my internal monologue INTO a monologue, when it would otherwise just be vague and incoherent noise. I've gone off of it several times due to external factors, and the things that have suffered most have invariably been the things I actually value, rather than just my work.If you decide that a treatment option isn't for you, that's fine. But don't go and stigmatize a perfectly legitimate source of assistance that can make others' lives more fulfilling.
>>96480578I MAKE BOBBLEHEAD!
>>96482305The other day the Gruul combat player got ahead really quickly, but the Meren player had a spore frog out. I was so glad they just agreed on a draw, cause they both realised it'd take a while to play out and be really tedious too.
>>96485660Thats why i have like 4 "damage cant be prevented cards"
