You know, current WarCry would've been the perfect game to release a Spiderfang warband for. The whole setting of the Gnarlwood and Ghur is exactly the sort of place you'd expect to find forest goblins and it would've made a load of sense to release a band of spider worshippers who roam the deepest, darkest parts of the Gnarlwood.
Instead, for some RETARDED reason, the Greenskin group who are most common within, and own entire parts of, the Gnarlwood are Kruelboyz (?!) which is dumb af.

I was trying to emulate the bronze they show in this video https://youtu.be/3t07rrSSATg?si=YAse-KkKfOBecbsY
But I bought and used the wrong paint by mistake. Two Thin Coats Overlord Brass (Screaming Bell) instead of Steampunk Copper/Castellax Bronze. Is this salvageable as a dark bronze? It already has 2 coats of nuln oil on it and I also have TTC Top Brass as a highlight color.

>>
>>96610694
half the fucking armies in the game need it badly
but for me it has to IDK
>>
>>96610694
IDK for sure. There's dozens of cool ideas for how they could be expanded. Literally an entire ocean to pull from. And they're still missing basic infantry unit types that could really pad out their roster too so it's not like they don't need it.
>>
>>96610234
I think it would be much easier to just paint the tree sap and glue on small chunks of amber looking plastic. Unless you wanted them to look entirely amber, in which case you probably just can't because amber is see though and it'll be very hard to nail that look on an opaque plastic model.
>>96610694
I'm torn between Seraphon, which really needs a refresh for skinks and I would love to see even more dino's and Kharadron which has beautiful models but it's almost all infantry and boats, I want to see some more creative ideas like they had with the endrin dock. Maybe some glider cavalry or mobile gun platforms. I think they could do some fun stuff with sea/sky mines as well.
>>
>>96610777
on the money with CoS dwarves and elves, which i think would help lean CoS from their GRIM AND REAL take into the suitably fun high fantasy aesthetic. tunneling dwarves popping out around the battlefield would be the CoS equivalent to the fish elves or cow elves imo

Does anyone know why the ranged attack units of the cities of Sigmar use explosive-tipped sticks instead of arquebuses, even though such weapons exist?
>>

>>96611185
There various guns and firearms use by the COS armies in lore and some other models just like the Fusilier major, Cavalier major, the Marshal and squire etc

the reason why we have the Fusilers in-universe is cause it easy to mass produce and train the bumpkin and street urchin while providing shielding and spear wall

So, looking at the Helsmiths book, I have two questions I submit for discussion ITT,

1. Is Urak Taar just a competitive pick, or good to the point of being auto-include?

2. Is there ever an argument for bringing less than 18 Bull Centaurs?

>>96610694
IDK: The release would include an Isharann hero riding a giant enemy crab, and one of said crab's obnoxiously large claws would do the pistol shrimp thing. This unit would check off two units for the IDK; an artillery piece, and a wizard that can box. Also, it would include an Akhelian hero riding a BIG ASS SHORK. Beyond that, it's the fucking ocean, GW... go nuts. Maybe include namarti who emulate anemones and specialize in defense/holding objectives. Actually, no, fuck it, just give us craaaaaaaaaab people to fill the infantry anvil option for the IDK.

Honorable mentions to FEC and Seraphon, two armies who I'm ready to collect, as soon as the last remnants of WHFB sloppy seconds are purged from the range.

At a glance there appear to be a lot of embarrassing errors in the book. Like how a lot of archetypes have Body 3 but start with heavy armor that requires Body 4, meaning they literally cannot wear their starting equipment. And the slaangor is specified as a human instead a gor. C7 has always had a lot of typos in their digital prereleases so it's nothing new and it's easily fixed, but this still shouldn't have made it past a proofreader.

This book has been delayed so many times I think it's clear that all of GW's changes to the AoS setting has fucked it over and they're finally at the point where they just think "Fuck it no-one plays this game anyway it'll do."
>>
>>96613718
C7 just don't like Soulbound, it was semi abandoned in favour of the 40k and Fantasy lines and now they're doing Old World as well.

This book has languished in "dev hell" for ages and is super obvious when you realise how much stuff has either been
>Copy pasted from old books word for word, no joke the warcry stuff is literally copied word for word from the original warcry books
>Mentions beastmen units under species and then has 0 archetypes for them because the faction got culled in AoS
>Mentions nothing from 4th edition which started over a year ago
>Writers who actually liked AoS replaced by their 40k writing staff

Then you have 0 Foundry modules being made after literally the bare minimum and a single plat book while 40k and Fantasy gets modules rolling off an assembly line.
They only shit this book out because it had already been announced and people kept asking where it was.

That's one less book for the collection.

Anyone got either of the "Ruins of..." books? One was an adventure comp or something, and the other was a dedicated adventure dealing with dwarves and Sylvaneth IIRC.
If anyone knows a good site to stow a trove, I'll try throw one together for SB.

ossiarchs are afforded independence from nagash, this is done under the arrogance that their design makes them flawlessly loyal

some ossiarchs are aware they have been handed the short end of the stick, and don't agree on it being a fitting punishment for whatever nagash judged them for

skaven have been a notorious pain in the ass of nagash's machinations since before he became the supreme necromancer

skaven and the horned rat also embody treachery and the ruination of everything, including what appears to be flawless

it comes to reason that ossiarchs seeking to betray him and get revenge for whatever he inflicted on them may exist and may side with another of his enemies

Oh that's simple. It's literally been that way for Soulbound from the get-go. Seriously. Era of the Beast was an attempt to catch the game up to 3rd, and by the time it came out a fair portion of its lore was invalidated, and then everything Freeguild of course got culled by CoS.
>>
>>96614402
Unironically may be a good idea since GW has been doing a soft walkback on being all-in on Primaris. Worst case scenario, you can easily proxy your tactical marines as intercess- oh, wait... your fellow marinefags are notoriously insufferable about WIZZY-WIG. Well, uh, give it a try, but YMMV.

Ironic, considering that set only comes with 10 models plus a couple from the underworlds kit
Every other spearhead box usually takes a full infantry unit and splits it
>>96614085
From what I've read, their spearhead rules are alright. They can be brought back as reinforcements, return d3 slain at end of turn and can be used by general to heal. All that in exchange for mortal wounds trick in main game

I think it could have been managed if instead of working on a giant splatbook for three years they had instead made a plan to periodically drop smaller content parcels online. They kinda did that for a while with stuff like Doomed Lands, Crash & Burn, The Grund Operations Manual, and so on. It's kinda what they've always done for WFRP, periodically releasing short modules and splats, and that's worked pretty well.

But I'm also someone who thinks they should simply have set the game in the Realmgate Wars era and left themselves free to ignore any new metaplot developments in the setting if they were not retroactive. So right from the go I was never quite onboard with their format.

The rumorleak did say blightking refresh. People were asking why a refresh for it and the one post above about women in Nurgle made me realize they probably want women in the range. They’ll be sculpted in too so you can’t stay all male with the new kits

I meant that, while the usage of others models as tokens is retarded, his main gimmick is solid. Also, it's better than having a paperweight that's only useful as a proxy, because legends units are only for fluff games.

QUESTION!

In Mortal Realms, is it possible that there are human worshippers of Hashut? I know of Horns of Hashut being all human, but have they been removed from lore or? They are not mentioned in Chorf battletome?

I know there are rare cases of humans worshipping Great Horned Rat.
>>
>>96615356
Literally anything is possible, I imagine there's humans who indirectly find this shit and worship it alongside people or slaves who are forced to worship these gods.
>>

Are Horns of Hashut ever mentioned in lore of HoH battletome? Even once?

I'm relatively sure the "era of the beast" was like a decade or so in the setting, 12 years at most, and this so called "hour of ruin" sounds even shorter, although definitely more directly impactful

with mortal special characters in the picture, these sweeping events cannot possibly stretch for centuries anymore, and are happening more and more often, they either get reduced in scale and scope or they must stop the advancement of the timeline completely with one of the next editions

I hope we get the breaching of azyr and the 4th age of sigmar and then stop moving, honestly, there aren't that many more major factions to introduce and the battlefront moving to the big realm and the big titular man all big enemy superfactions and big characters have raging hard-ons against seems seems the ideal setup for the status quo: lots of open plot hooks, no reason to fuck them up with a shitty execution

Is there anything besides a skeleton wizard that GW could realistically add to soulblight to expand the range at this point? I struggle to think of anything on theme that they could add that isn't already done. We have vamp and skeleton cav, cheap and elite skeleton infantry, vamp infantry in the Trueblades, dogs, vergheists. I guess maybe hellsteed mounts for flying heroes, but that's not much for a new unit.
It's just gonna be different flavors of vampire in the future releases isn't it?

Can you still take those in 'proper' games of sigmar?
I know one soulblight guy who thinks no and is hoping for actual vampire infantry.

Stormtide.
>Stormcast Questor
Heart of the team, a bit of a himbo but sometimes says things that absolutely flabbergasts the rest of the squad
>Cities Marshal
A little bit racist, out of ignorance. Wants to die old and rich but is middle aged and broke.
>Ulguothi Aelf
The mage, doing shadow majyk and summoning feathery blades. Thanks her god everyone around her is too ignorant to know she's technically a heretic.
>Kharadron Buccaneer
Thinks himself a mighty pirate, doesn't even have a ship. His fake ass accent slips often and his only friend is the shadow elf (this is funny)
>Idoneth Assassin
Why is he here? What does he want? It's a secret ;) tee hee ;) maybe he's here to kill YOU ;) maybe not ;) unless? ;)

SECRET DLC CHARACTERS
>Ogor Mercenary
Extremely charitable for an ogor, which is to say she'll only take 7/15ths of the cut instead of half.
>Braindamaged Skaven
Nobody tell him he's a ratman the brain damage has him thinking he's a human cursed by a daemon.
>>
>>96617336
Braindamaged skaven could also be replaced with random ghoul.
>>
>>96617290
>Zombei hero.
In terms of models I imagine that being represented as a mummy. Or as Gorslav.

>frankenstein necromancers and zombies subrange expansion
>redone vargheists and another kind of lesser vengorians unit
>kastelai phalanxes on foot and blood knights on winged nightmares
>vyrkos bloodborns with vargskyr, and an even lesser vyrkos infantry with swarms
>redone neferata on a replacement for the coven throne
>redone manfred on some other waste of plastic to raise prices

this is what I can most optimistically imagine gravelords as getting
>>
>>96617298
They're not listed as legends on Wahapedia, so as far as I can see they still have rules. Although I wouldn't be against another more generic option. It would suck for them to go Legends though since they're a pretty unique unit. Vampire monks is cool
>>
>>96617384
They don't fit in SBGL at all but they're in production and in the battletome
>>
>>96617377
IMO the Frankenstein necormancers deserve their own army.
>>
>>96617370
Oh, ok

It did feel like we were trapped in the gnarlwoods a long time
>>
>>96617399
perhaps, depending on how large of a range we're imagining it to be, but would you remove zombies and corpse cart from gravelords then?
>>
>>96617416
Basic zombies, necormancers and the corpse cart would stay in SBGL. They'd get their own specialized set of fleshcrafted abominations. Think an entire faction like the Skaab from MtG
>>
>>96617336
>Plot
Questor gets a vision from Daddy Sigmar that three generals of Death, Destruction, and Chaos are leading an invasion centered around McGuffin City and only he and his Bestest Buddies (and whoever else hangs around) can stop them.
>Chaos
John Chaos, a Darkoath warlord, has banded together tribes of half naked psychopaths.
>Destruction
John Ork, a Kruleboyz warlord, has banded together tribes of half naked green psychopaths
>Death
Johan Gravelord, a vampire warlord, has banded together graves of half rotten paychopaths.

All 3 enemy types have similar hordes of chaff but unique elites and bosses, like the orruks who lay traps and have multiple ranged units, the gravelords which debuff and drain life, or the chosen who empower their allies with dark power. The plot itself meanders across the mortal realms, as the Questoris Five(plus extra) journey to kill the three Grand Generals or at least impede their progress for however long the game lasts
>>
>>96617399
>>96617416
I'm still of the opinion that there should be a more elite, fleshcrafted zombie unit and a more intelligent frankenstin type zombie hero, but that it should stay in Soulblight. I would rather see the existing Death factions get filled up and fleshed out more than have a full techno-necromancy faction. I don't see there being enough variety to support a whole frankenstein faction.
>>
>>96617511
You clearly haven't seen the Skaab then. Wizards managed to take that concept and run with it quite effectively. And not only that, but they managed to do that whilst ALSO having traditional zombies around.
And SBGL is honestly one of the more fleshed out armies in the game. Trying to add ANOTHER subfaction to it might end up having it feel bloated, considering there's like what 5 of them already there?
>>
>>96617543
>5 of them
nominally

practically it's just 2: skellies and vamps
>>
>>96617594
Even if it's only nominal, six is too many.
>>
>>96617602
I disagree, 6 is a nice number
3 actual subgroups of models, 3 fluffy subfactions in addition to those
>>
>>96614469
This is my bet.
They got Old World now for people who want less gnarly fantasy so Soulbound is fucked.
The good thing with TTRPGs at least, they don't NEED constant releases like a video game. Once they're out, they're out. And Soulbound specifically is incredibly easy to homebrew stuff for, all people really need are archetypes and monster statblocks and both have pretty defined creation guidelines.

Really the thing Soulbound books since the core one did was give you pre-written adventures and extra lore, both are nice to have but not altogether necessary.
>>
>>96617543
I mean if we really break them down, it would be Deathrattle kingdoms + the 5 main bloodlines/dynasties. I expect that at some point each dynasty will get some direct representation in the form of at least one character and a unit. Considering Vyrkos is already like half of available characters, that's being pretty conservative.
Personally I'd rather a bloated faction than a bunch of microfactions.
>>
>>96609990
I only want they show new models, no matter of what army; but if i must say what i want, im going to say i want Warhammer Quest Nurgle vs Cities of Sigmar
>>
>>96617684
The theme of "Frankenstein" is enough to work with to have a fully fleshed out faction that stands on its own.
>>
>>96614469
They kind of already did that. CoC refers to Pits of Carngrad. No idea about the scope of it, maybe it's a big campaign book, maybe it's a one-shot module, but at least there's a next thing.

Personally I'm kinda curious to crack open the old Warcry supps and see if any of that content can be adapted to Soulbound. There were a lot of quests with completion rewards and bits flavor text in those books. I'm sure some of that could be recycled.
>>
>>96617790
They call it an introductory adventure, so I would expect it to be the size of "If Looks Could Kill" they did for WFRP4e so a single adventure that takes one or two sessions to complete
>>
>>96616048
That's basically what Embergard is, wish they did more with it

Speaking of vamps, did some more work on my Duvalle today.
Quite like how hes turning out. just got a few more details and the base and he's done, but that'll probably have to be all the way monday.
Any suggestions what color I should paint the base ground?

>they don't NEED constant releases like a video game
I think it might be good if they did try to release content more often, even if it's not much. Not just because it helps to keep people's attention on the game, but also it means they can be quicker to capitalize on stuff like GW deciding to drastically change the direction of the setting's narrative or roll out a whole new army.

For example, they spent years trying to get Era of the Beast and Ulfenkarn out the door, and by the time they got there Warhammer Quest had long since concluded and GW was moving ahead with the Hour of Ruin narrative. And this big Chaos book coincided almost perfectly with the rollout of a new Chaos army, which is not represented in their book. A simple way of addressing this might be to write up some new Doom hazards for the Gnaw and make a couple new stat blocks for the new rats, then publish that online in a pdf of a dozen pages. With the Helsmiths, they could make up a species trait, a couple archetypes and maybe a spell list to go along with it, and get that out there within weeks of the new army's release. But they're not currently releasing new content in that manner, they're focusing on these big projects and as a result are lagging behind the developments in the wargame they're adapting.
>>
>>96617967
Thanks! I havent done any highlighting to that part yet so hopefully I dont royally fuck it up.
>>
>>96613453
Random "funny" equipment the archetypes get to start with
>Slaughterpriest - d6 skulls of worthy foes
>Ogroid thaumaturge - horn polish
>Shardspeaker - fidget totem
>Slaangor - sinister blindfold
>Symbaresh twinsoul - two hand mirrors the myrmidesh only gets one and it's tiny
>Putrid blightking - an organ that fell out of you
>Deathmaster - 1d6 assassination trophies
>Stormvermin - poison for clanrats

>deathrattle megagargant, wight wizard, deathrattle bolt throwers/small trebuchet
Bone giant could be cool and a wight wizard is a must at this point to keep fleshies out of the army. Ranged I'm a little iffy on, but siege weaponry like that could be cool. It'd be nice if there was an elite tier above barrow guard, like a cohort of princes or something, but I doubt that'd happen.
My one issue is that the variety of deathrattle really begins and ends with skeletons and more elite skeletons with no real niche units like a lot of other factions have.
>>
>>96618056
Gunpowder cannon units will be replaced by units with crossbows or harpoons.
