Aos IS a post apocalyptic setting after all, and the realms were all multiracial in literal senses, and afterwards you had chaos occupying the realms, warping civilizations entirely. So trying to find the true etymology of the realms would be fucking impossible because of the generational trauma that’s been inflicted on the realms for so long, and even if you had one figure say something, it’s either been warped and conflicts with another groups, so even if long lasting races like dwarves had an idea of what a piece of land was called, it’s origins are probably warped by others. The only way to compromise was to just give them meaningless names that wouldn’t make any party feel anything, hence we’re stuck with the Latin mumbo jumbo in the last thread like Aquila or therdia.
