>>

He'd be a lot less annoying if he did this with say shitmob or darkoath or some other thing that actually flopped. But these fuckers sold out in 5 min with gw having to print more. Also didn't he get the mop last thread?
>>
>>96885468
GW fumbled the prices for Gitmob so bad it's unbelievable. I love the models, but I just can't physically bring myself to pay the money required for the chariot hero or catapult. Not even that I can't afford it, it's just such an obvious ripoff that I can't bring myself to push the buy button.

>>
>>96885495
Gw loves making chariots in general expensive as fuck for some reason. The two smallers ones are 76 yuros, so 38 per kit is actually par for the course for gw. Similarily the snarlpack are priced about the same as other 3x 75mm monstrous cavalry at 50, aggradons and bullcentaurs are 51.25 for example, although those of course are a lot bulkier than some gits on a big wolf.

But the boss chariot holy shit, 80 fucking euros for a fat goblin on a chariot. What the fuck why??
>>
>>96885522
I know some people don't like it, but the metallic direction gw went with lizard-men is a huge plus for me with the new range.
Anyways, good job anon. Its perfection.
>>
>>96885522

I like it in some aspect, like this guy's crest is stellar, but there's other parts where it doesn't land for me, like the skink cavalry weird spears, or the saurus shields that are just a little bit too much. It's not the worst thing in the world when it doesn't land, but I don't like it all the time either. On the whole though the lizardman refresh was excellent and I'm looking forward to more

male saurus don't exist so the slann can act as proxy for the center of the harem

That base is actually too good for the chorf. I like the chorf model but there needs to a limit on how cool your base is compared to the unit it supports. The overall effect is worse if your base is mogging the unit.

Not really. Lizardmen/seraphon reproduce asexually via spawning pools. They don't have sexes. And there's no male-female gender binary among the different breeds. They're like greenskins in that sense.

I know there's one example of a skink using she/her pronouns and it did that as an ironic joke about warmbloods being ignorant.
>>

Skinks strike me as pretty intelligent and sociable, so as to be able to adapt to the social norms of the warmbloods they're hanging out with

Maybe but I’ve been thinking about it. I was wondering if the name for some maps are fucked is due to whoever is in charge to name maps is too fucked to get the accurate names for each location. Aos IS a post apocalyptic setting after all, and the realms were all multiracial in literal senses, and afterwards you had chaos occupying the realms, warping civilizations entirely. So trying to find the true etymology of the realms would be fucking impossible because of the generational trauma that’s been inflicted on the realms for so long, and even if you had one figure say something, it’s either been warped and conflicts with another groups, so even if long lasting races like dwarves had an idea of what a piece of land was called, it’s origins are probably warped by others. The only way to compromise was to just give them meaningless names that wouldn’t make any party feel anything, hence we’re stuck with the Latin mumbo jumbo in the last thread like Aquila or therdia.

>>
>>96887587
i mean i guess, that's true to some degree and we have alternate names for a bunch of places in different species' languages, while the maps are drawn up like they are by azyrites. We can also be real and say Verdia as a ghyran continent is just a fine name that doesnt need fixing, though. Calling a region of aqysh that's covered in lava flows that look like veins "capilaria" isn't bad worldbuilding compared to calling it "the plains of zigzillarus" (this means plains that look like veins in the orruk-duardin hybrid language spoken in the area 10000 years ago)
>>
>>96886500
>and it did that as an ironic joke about warmbloods being ignorant.

That's the opposite of how it works, actually. 40K will have very limited releases next year outside the new starter box and related faction releases, as is normal for a new edition year.

It's the same for AoS, new edition years tend to have less releases for the "focus" system giving other systems a chance to catch up.

I can't imagine what you're referencing but there is this discussion in Soul Wars, which also suggests Arkhan and the other Mortarchs undermine Nagash with their quarrels by his design - that the chaos serves his ends. Both sentiments come from Arkhan, who cannot read Nagash's mind.
That said the same book also reveals Nagash has Alzheimer's and even the Mortarchs were created not totally aware of their history, but of course Black Library isn't canon and GW threw out Reynolds interpretation of the Mortarchs in the core book that accompanied the launch box Soul Wars accompanied so yknow

I know it's a long shot but would it be possible to play seraphon skink focused?
A guy I know is selling picrel, half of it already built, for a pretty good price and I'm toying with the idea of building a skink army around it. I'm not necessarily looking for something competitive (seraphon seem to kinda suck in general), just something that won't get me consistently btfo by round 2. Spearhead is nice and all, but damn start collecting was the shit. Especially the normal seraphon one was insane value. Hell I'm pretty sure it's cheaper than what the carnosaur alone goes for now, and you got like 20 saurus warriors + knights on top of that.
>>
>>96892372
it can do okay, skink units in general are made of glass, but they're cheap and efficient. ripperdactyl riders and raptadon chargers are 2 of the armies best damage dealers per point, and the skink spellcasters are great. regular skinks on foot cant do a ton, but they're cheap

the army WILL lose models fast, so i recommend fielding a regular slann for his recursion mechanic if you can get one.

newer skinks don't look better than old skinks
the only truly worthwhile things they could do for a new kit would be upgrade the javelins to atlatls and replace the blowpipes with bows

otherwise an updated skinks kit is going to look exactly the same with worse faces, metal shields instead of scaled shields, and a higher price per model
>>
>>96892518
>still looks old
eh, not as much as you would think. they are moderately posable and dont suffer from the same tin soldier rank and flank poses a lot of stuff from that era does, and the detail is surprisingly sharp for their time

>looks ugly
not at all

dont get me wrong, i wouldnt turn down a refresh, the hunters of huanchi set or raptadon riders look great, but the old skinks dont look bad or out of place next to them, so i wouldnt go as far as to tell anyone not to buy them and wait an indefinite amount of time for their refresh

Honestly for being the second oldest kit in all of aos they're surprisingly alright. The smaller the kit the easier they age imo. They're not perfect but I feel like they can hold out an edition longer.
>>96892544
An atlatl dual build would be nice. The current's kit biggest problems are their weapons imo. The clubs especially look comically small even compared to their tiny bodies. They look like they're going to battle with hair brushes.
As for a redesign, they shouldn't change much. The underworlds skinks were a slight but tasteful upgrade. My favourite take on them was some random third party blood bowl team, let me see if I can find it.

>>
>>96892743
>The clubs especially look comically small even compared to their tiny bodies
that's because the kit was never actually designed with the idea of them wielding that club as their main armament

the kit was intended to be either javelin+shield or blowpipe+sidearm
make the sidearm too big and it overshadows the blowpipe, which is their actual main armament

the hand weapon and shield configuration os essentially a conversion
>>
>>96892644
It would mostly be to bring their tech in line with the new stuff, swapping out the skin shields for star metal and giving them a bit more armor

I will say the jewelry on like the new kroxigors and aggradon lancers is incredible, so if they could get some of that, it would be worth it

I've been playing since I was a high schooler, you typically don't wanna pay full price. At the absolute very least you should try to get a discount from local stores, ideally you buy stuff secondhand. Honestly I don't think it's that outrageous of a hobby pricewise (not to defend gw's pricing fuck em). I mean yeah compared to your standard gaming/watching tv of most people it is, but in my friend group my "niche hobby" is the cheap one. One of my buddies is into airsoft and pays like a couple grant on the regular for new guns or gizmos. Another friend breeds koi fish and similarily easily spends thousands a year. As long as you're not low iq with 0 impulse control buying every fomo box this hobby has a pretty good dollar/hour value. I mean my girlfriend took in a stray cat a few months ago and it cost more to get in order than I have spent on warhammer in the past two years lol.
>>96892743
I found the skinks, they're on the whole not as good as I remember lol. But the guy in picrel still is what I would like to see. I especially like the tall crest, I feel like the official ones have them a bit too sleek and close to line of the head if that makes sense

Technically you can remove their limbs and make them shit blood while they're technically still alive
>>
>>96893069
I mean stormies can get permakilled in some cases, like belakors bullshit, and nighthaunt locks and shit. In those cases I assume the stormcast body itself would be left behind. Kind of like the kruleboy shaman having a severed LoC hand on a staff. What army were you planning for ?

correct, the stormcast can be a bloody nugget on the ground as long as it's technically still alive, best way to portray that is keeping the eyesockets glowing
>>
>>96893094
No, they return to the skies but not Azyr.
Har kuron and Skaventide features captive Stormcast, though, so if they could be dismembered but otherwise kept alive I suppose decoration is fair game

Reminder that Stormcast have ritualistic suicide knives on them in case they got trapped, like spies with cyanide pills, so getting those trophies is even harder
>>
>>96893251
There's a funny bit about it in the Harrowdeep novella. The Stormcast ask the Kruleboyz why they hate them so much, and the reply basically goes "BECAUSE YOU CAN'T EVEN DIE RIGHT!"
>>
>>96893305
He meant because Harrowdeep is an afterlife with them eternally respawning

If not for all the cleanup of mold lines, I really feel like I could keep painting dryads forever. It somehow never gets boring to take a brush to them.
>>
>>96893548
They're pretty comfy to paint because you just drybrush the wood and that's 90% of work done, all that's left is picking out some detail. Quick dopamine.

>>96890670
I actually have the old spearhead and I think it is a very fun build, but I havent finished painting it yet. The scheme I chose for it was a relatively dark bony shade, grey/nmm armor coupled with turquoise cloth (as in tonality. I actually shade it pretty close to a dark green other than in the edges) and blue effects.
I kinda want to get the new OBR spearhead because those two together coupled with Nagash make a pretty decent army.
>>

Can't they just take pieces of armor out of the cuck-casters?

Its a lot cheaper than 40k, in my experience. But I never went down on the math.

Not every location and warband. (but I admit that there are lots of locations-seassons are like that)
>>96892737

Isn't it just shadespire?
>>
>>96893810
with the necroquake the prison of shadespire cracked in places, connecting to other places, and with that its inhabitants and curse leaked elsewhere
>>
>>96893733
>But I never went down on the math
The biggest difference is points, everything in 40K cost like half as many points as it would in AoS, or even less. That's twice as much shit you have to buy off the bat, and 40K kits tend to be slightly more expensive than AoS, just to add salt to the wound.
>>
>>96893810
Every UW location is an underworld connected to shadespire which is why the various warbands all appear in them
The latest edition is different though iirc
>>
>>96893882
That's the biggest difference. A single unit is about the same dollar value. But the 40k ones are 100 points for an elite unit vs 250 for an AoS one.
Or look at god type models, a titan is the same price as Morathi/Archaon/Nagash but is less than half the points

I make decent money, spend irresponsibly, but also AOS is much cheaper than anything else GW. People sell whole armies for like 200ish bucks sometimes. Never buy direct from GW, just do secondhand or Stormbringer, if you're desperate at least do FLGS or ebay. I'm currently trying to avoid picking up BoK since I really don't need another god damn army. If there was like a miniswap or buy and sell to other anons I'd love to do it desu.

>>96893882
Also this, AOS has a lower model count overall. Every faction can generally herohammer or has some big fuckoff monster or some hefty elites that can take up like 1/4th of your list. (In Death you can buy Nagash and that's like 800 points in every death faction right off the bat. Same goes for Kragnos in destruction)
>>
I kinda like the idea of the knuckle dusters that blood warriors have but they could have been executed better. Something like the deathbringers shield is a better concept, even if its an entirely different thing altogether.
Makes me wonder if khornes chosen will have something like that in the future.

Any feedback for this Skaven? I don’t know what I’m doing really for the bell. I want it to look better.
>>
>>96894874
absolutely no one will give a shit. a not insignificant amount of aos players still have models on squares. base size autism is pretty much not a thing in aos apart from maaaaaybe some big official GW event, and even then the aos crowd is pretty chill so i doubt anyone would make a fuss about it, even at like an LVO or something
>>
>>96895134
For the bell, and the rest of the brass/bronze too if you want, you want a lot of wear and verdigris. Look up videos on verdigris and painting dirty bronze. You can also get some ideas on https://eavy-archive.com if you want to try to emulate a GW paintjob. I would also suggest some rust and wear on the silver armor and knife.
>>
>>96894529
I don’t think there’s any real metrics you could point to that say DoK are particularly unpopular as a faction, there’s no reason to think that unless you’re purely basing it off whatever LGS you play at

>be me
>a faithful servant of Sigmar since 2nd edition
>witnessed the birth, the storms, the endless reworks
>4th arrives, clad in promise and reform

For a moment, hope stirs. The scrolls are rewritten, the wars renewed. perhaps this, I thought, would breathe life into the dying embers.
But alas, the halls stand empty. No laughter of dice, no clash of painted hosts. The faithful few remain, stubborn as stormcast, yet the legions have departed some to 40k, others to quieter shores. It is not HoH’s fault, nor the keeper of our local shop. The heart of the game itself seems to have grown still. Not slain in fury, but fading softly like the last candle in Azyr, guttering without witness. Now I gaze toward The Old World, that ancient realm reborn, and wonder if perhaps my loyalty lies entombed there, among memory and myth. Tell me, /tg/, does your realm still stir with battle, or has your AoS too fallen silent?
>>
>>96895502
Yeah, I’m seeing the same thing where I am.
Used to have a solid crew. Regular game nights, decent turnout for events, even a few new faces every season. Now it’s just a handful of us trying to keep the flame going, and even that’s starting to flicker. It’s not anger, really. More like everyone just ran out of reasons to care. The rules aren’t bad, but there’s no spark, no heartbeat. Every release feels like another rearrangement of the same tired ideas. I’ve been dusting off my old Empire models lately, thinking maybe The Old World’s the way forward. Feels weird, though like going back to visit a hometown you barely recognize. You’re not alone, anon. AoS didn’t crash it just quietly walked off stage, and most of us didn’t even notice until the lights went out.
>>
>>96895502
>>96895674
Same here anons. I don’t even think AoS is bad right now the lore’s decent, some of the new models are great it’s just missing that sense of momentum. Everything feels like it’s happening in slow motion. Our shop used to have two tables reserved every week, full of painted armies and trash talk. Now it’s just me and one other guy trading the same Stormcast vs. Orruk game every couple of months. Everyone else either burned out or went back to 40k. I still like the idea of the Mortal Realms, but it’s hard to stay invested when it feels like the game’s moving on without us.
Might give The Old World a shot too at least there’s energy around that again, even if it’s just nostalgia talking.
