>>97115917To explain my "drop in an ocean" analogy a little more, I'm saying that you need to fill a bucket or ocean to advance to the next stage. A stage 4 stealing the qi and refinement from a stage 2 would be like taking a drop and trying to fill a tank or even ocean with it depending on the level of cultivation (peak vs early stage). It's barely anything, and a stage 4 taking from stage 1 might even be like a drop trying to fill up an entire ocean. Stage 3 might be like trying to fill a bucket and you might get a drop, cup, or bowl's worth (depending on cultivation level). The biggest gains would be stealing from an equivalent opponent. The Level of your cultivation within the stage itself is also extremely important. For example, you can just barely be at the Early-Stages of Stage 4 but if your opponent is Peak Stage 3, you're actually not too far apart (although the Entry-level Stage 4 still has a massive advantage, the Peak Stage 3 still has a chance). Is the early Stage 4 steals their energy in one they would probably bump to one step away from the Middle-Stage tier (if not Middle Stage altogether, depending on the refinement of their Qi, which again makes this all very relative). Let's assume he bumps to Middle Stage in one go because he steals the refinement of a favored son of heaven with a high refinement for his stage. He still needs to move from Middle to hit the Late Stage and then get to the Peak Stage of cultivation within Stage 4 (RE-04 in this CYOA). I'm assuming that Rake is fine with this sort of scaling because this is literally the genre in a nutshell.Just to restate my position in simple terms, Vermillion is underpowered compared to other methods assuming you choose equal options. It lags behind when you look more closely at how everything works. Also, I apologize for my wording and phrasing because I'm actually pretty tired from work. This is why I said earlier I didn't want to make a big post, but here we are anyway, apparently.

>>97116072>>97116080>Just assume the unexplained parts play out in such a way that it's equivalent to the rest>All choices are equalThis WOG approach is what Rake tried to do and it doesn't work. "They're equal because I said so" isn't how reality works. Methods have requirements and conditions for cultivating. Saying they're equal doesn't make it true. You aren't accounting the actual mechanics of how Vermillion itself functions. You require technology to integrate with Machine just like how Vermillion requires SUITABLE victims. Either Vermillion is the worst or strongest method as currently written. You only have two choices here.>A: Vermillion scales strictly with the opponent's actual cultivation (which is what Rake said in the CYOA thread), which makes it balanced but lag behind other methods in practical use due to not being able to consistently find appropriate targets to steal cultivation from. Yes, I am factoring in Hunting Grounds which cannot be used for long, and I'm also taking into account occasional mutants of a higher RE level. It's still the worst, slowest, riskiest, and most inconsistent method.>B: "It just works/they're equal because I said so" route = Vermillion gives arbitrary gains regardless of refinement or practical level of the target (not accounting for actual refinement differentials which goes against the lore of cultivation like in pic related), which immediately makes it the strongest method because it allows effortless power leveling due to overlooking the actual mechanics. The RE-04 can safely farm RE-02 and RE-03's without being challenged and effortlessly bump up to RE-05. It now becomes the strongest and most unbalanced method and it would be incredibly retarded to do this.My arguments are assuming the more logical scenario of A because A is what most cultivation series will go off of and even Rake said this. The WOG handwaving doesn't work. If you say it does in practice it's busted, or it's bad if you play it straight.

>>97116675Was it ever clarified how many reformist points realignment gives or takes?
>>97117552>As a last question have we any idea about what's going on with the archdevil? Is she giving Diabolism?Based on Tankista's posts, the Archdevil is a version of Dido. The original Dido duplicated herself, with one of them becoming the Archdevil and the other infiltrating the Convention as a Sheol refugee. The plan was that Archdevil-Dido was going to go back in time, become the demon Prometheus, and start seeding knowledge of Diabolism long before Sargon figures out how to use ether. So that Diabolism, not Conventional sorcery, becomes the go-to solution. In other words, Dido didn't just want to beat the Convention. She wants to totally rewrite history. However, for unknown reasons, Archdevil-Dido isn't following the plan. She's hanging around the ruins of China and Southeast Asia, granting wishes instead. And with Infiltrator-Dido in deep cover with the Convention, there's no one who can explain what Archdevil-Dido thinks she's doing. Hence the mission in Blood Magic to investigate.

>>97118047>it's a classic take for a reasonyeah, and that reason is the full scope of even a single plaent is too large for the typical story's size, the only way to use even a small fraction of a planet without making the additions of more planets seem ridiculous is to spend at least the equivalent of several movies or novels making stories about different locations on it>I wonder why that isn't done more often.because they want to preserve the idea that it's a whole planet, not shatter it, the problem is that completely unexplored regions aren't really suitable for that either, especially if there's multiple authors

There is no in between despite how much these idiots want to keep asserting that it's balanced "because it just is OK." That's their argument.See >>97116343 where I explain this very clearly.

>>97118814Nah, it's equal to the others.More seriously wich methods did you choose?
>>97118814I have a weird tangent. I don't think you could actually find that many stage 1 'enemies'. The description of the stages suggests that anything notably supernatural, like zombies which seem to be the most common potential enemy, would have to be fundamentally stage 2. Though there could be a bunch of 'feral' humans, or enraged animals at stage 1, I think zombies at a minimum should be stage 2 but potentially weaker than similar stage humans due to having flawed bodies. Zombies that are nearing the peak of stage 2 probably have most of those flaws corrected and should be closer to a human relying on instinctual cultivation. As far as aggressive stage 1 animals, increased aggression in wild animals has a pretty poor effect on their survival as they take stupid risks, limiting their numbers. There would likely be a large number of stage 1 human survivors, but you would be going out of your way to make them into enemies.
>>97118850>Keep fighting the good fight anonHoly fuck someone actually agrees with me? You might be the first person that has a brain on this subject. Jiminy crickets, there's hope?! For a hammer that can have its weight shifted, should it keep its velocity when changing weight or would this be a bit too overpowered? (since you could make the thing super light, throw it, and then have it become 100x heavier than normal)

The main gist is that Psychics / Espers have emerged with the ability to assert their wills on reality thanks to an assortment of unique / generic powers. Your brain has a unique power tailored for you subconciously based on your environmental upbringing, mental development, perception of reality, and your innate desire. The CYOA picks up a century (or two) after the emergence of Psychics / Espers in a rebuilt world where they have claimed immense influence as organized criminals, government officials, public celeberities, duelists, etc. Beside them other strange phenomenon influence the worlds thanks to them messing with reality.Currently, I have the beginning of the adventure as you aiming to become the Rank No. 1 among Psychics / Esper. It feels strange to do.>>97120613My only serious complaints are that there are too few Basic units, the funny pic of the bomber goblin for Sapper was replaced by a generic shieldwall of dwarves rather than a mining dwarf, the Fallen Angels can't use basic units and its mechanics are somewhat bland, the Giants don't cost more to make than weaker races, and the Dark Fae aren't included under the Bureaucracy trait.

Until then I won't be an author by my own reckoning. It wouldn't take too much to finish, a month's work I would reason, but is already larger than African Warlord and follows a similar framework, albeit fantasy, so it would probably explode for some specific anons. I want to time that explosion so it doesn't get overlap with EA's release of Exalted Conquest and get less than half the builds and discussion it could have.
