Less than a month left of 2025. You got any hobby goals to clear before we clock into 2026?

My bad I linked the wrong page. This is the actual overall popularity rate for submitted lists. So it's probably pretty decent to use as a relative measure of popularity.

Working on my Ikon. Still have my Enlightner then my backlog will be clear AND I'll have reached my goal for 2025.

Another day, another 24 hours of longing for a Dominions: Rise of the Pantokrator grand strategy AoS videogame.
>>
>>97133292
Thanks anon, interesting stuff. I don't know if tournament stats are necessarily more reliable though, I've heard tomb kings are quite good competitively for example, while say empire is kind of shit. I know from experience with aos that for example dok or idk tended to be bumped up quite a bit in tournament stats vs general polls, because they're usually pretty meta.
Then again, the square based poll had warriors of chaos as a mid tier army and that also didn't really pass the eye test to me, so who knows.
>>
>>97133292
Oh also
>top 2 performing factions are cathay and a cathay army of infamy, with 56.5% and 71.5% winrate respectively
Jeez, that bad huh? Are the balloons really that good?
>>
>>97133350
Yes, if the leaks are accurate then the FAQ/balance patch next month is going to rape them back down to earth.
>>
>>97133350
The balloon is insane. It isn't even playing the same game. It's one of the most naked examples of printed powercreep I can rememer from GW. However, the TOW community actually has balls so there are a number of good comp systems used to tone it down even without daddy GW's hand.
>>
>>97133350
>>97133357
Yeah most tournaments now just straight up limit the number you can take and that seems to have done it.
>>
Does anyone have the new Ghyran Path to Glory PDF? Curious if it's worth switching to over Ravaged Coast.

Has anyone had a chance to try it out yet? Love some narrative funtimes. Thanks!
>>
>>97133398
The book is not out for another two weeks, scans are gonna take longer than that.
>>
>>97133294
Well that's the problem you see, the coolest part (conceptually) are the basic bitch skeletons, horses, chariots and scorpions, all of which have dogshit old models. Maybe the chariots are passable. Most of the newer stuff hasn't been my jam exactly, not a fan of the dragon, sphinx (cat variant is okay I suppose), snakes, ... Some of the new characters have been cool though. I think right now the only tk unit that I'd be happy to buy is the tomb guard and maybe the bow ushabti, idk if that one's new or not. Maybe I'll pick up the former as a pure painting project in the meantime.
>>97133353
>>97133357
>>97133363
Oh, that explains the pictures I've seen floating around with like 9 unpainted balloons spread across 3 tables. Kind of hilarious of gw though, first force the waactards to buy 3 vhordrais worth of overpowered shit to then bring down the hammer.

Anyway's an aos question that's been bugging me lately, how do you guys think the rumoured cos vs eshin spearhead "starter set" is supposed to work? A double set like the current repurposed skaventide one, with terrain and a booklet and everything? You think they'll add another board/ruleset like sand and bone?
Also do we know anything about the models inside, I'm not super up to date on rumours. Will they all be new stuff?

I dislike most of the old models for being visually shit.
I dislike most of the newer models for being conceptually shit.
Like I said, I like the tomb guard or bow ushabti for example.
>>
>>97133617
You're missing a generic deathmaster and a Battlepriest
The leakers have also said that that apparently Spearhead is replacing Warcry and that the following spearheads will be like the CoS and Eshin ones, so I asume that means 1 named character, 1 generic Hero and 2 units.
If the latter part is true I think it will help give AoS named characters since some factions don't even have one and new units that don't come from the mandatory release everyone gets
>>
>>97133713
>Spearhead is replacing Warcry

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't like the new Blight Kings. Too fat and not enough strong looking, plus they don't have as nearly as much body horror as they should. Old ones were simply better. The rest of the Nurgle refresh is absolutely great though.
>>
>>97133788
I completely agree with you, they're much too clean for Nurgle.
>>
>>97133788
In general the Nurgle refresh is really mediocre. They are running on creative steam at this point.
>>
>>97133849
Thanks! Also while I appreciate them going for a "corrupt Celtic cult/Swamp cult" aesthetic, it's kind of a stark departure. New Festus is cool though.
>>
>>97133713
Mhm, they'll have to rebalance the whole thing then, if that's the new powerlevel balancing this against the older ones will be harder. Those typically follow a pattern of "character + basic infantry + elite infantry/ basic cavalry + small to medium monster or warmachine".
Also this shit better go down in price if they're going back to something closer to start collecting. Wouldn't be the first time GW killed something by trying to squeeze 5% more profit out of something.

Liking 2 kits out of the entire range while considering almost everything else shit sure sounds like not liking the faction to me
>>
My lgs has it's shelves arranged like a dungeon
They have cams and mirrors all around to watch for shoplifters though. It's still pretty cool.
>>
>>97133957
even necrocum?
>>
>>97133973
? I like the concept of egyptian skeleton warriors, horses, chariots, as well as some of the constructs like the scorpion and ushabti, I just don't think their current sculpts are up to par since it's not 2003 anymore.
I enjoy some of the new stuff like tomb guard, some characters, the bow ushabti, the cat variation of the sphinx.
Meanwhile some of the other new units, while visually more up to date, I just don't like very much conceptually. The winged sphinx, the snake riders, or the bone dragon being examples.
I don't think this is a very complicated take anon.
>>
>>97133973
I love the Sepulchral Stalkers and that new necrolithic bone dragon looks nice. The tomb scorpion is neat also.
>>
Tomb kings in AOS would have just been El-dorado vampire counts stuck in chamon.

I hope the new skeletons follow the designs of the new hero kit. I am a big fan of how the new plastic kit looks compared even to the resin TK hero that was released with TOW on launch (I think the TK resin hero might be the fastest replaced model I have ever seen, like 1 year before being replaced by a new kit)

The royalty+gold+undead+khemri pattern just all renders this to like, a whatever faction. The constructs themselves dont help their case when its just all gold too, its not even a hedonisitc degree of jewlery either, its just enough to get the "I am important" vibe across and nothing more. Adding some stuff like ORGANIC snakes or scarabs emerging from their eyes or some kind of pore would fix this but they're just "good undead" which is boring for warhammer.

I wonder how they'll expand on it. I know technically playing full sized games of AoS would be the next step I assume they're going to try and give Spearhead more meat somehow? Spearhead campaigns a la WHF Warbands? Extended play rules? More Battleplans and terrain sets? I'm not sure.

first, they need to remove the racist elements of the faction if they are to be translated into Age of Sigmar, they did a pretty good job with the Empire by transforming them into the Cities of Sigmar, which are inclusive to people of all races instead of a crackerfest of white supremacy tropes. Removing the Bonesplitterz was a step in the right direction, they need to prune many more faction of their old cultural insensitive roots

it's pretty easy if you are not on the alt-right kool-aid. We as whites ahve a resposnibility to the world because of the evils of colonialism, Christian missionary work, genodidal imperialism and our forceful spread of heteronormative gender roles which still does a lot of harm in countries all over the world. One of the pillars of this ideology is Orientalism, which you can read about more in the work of Edward Said, which basically otherfies non-whites and transforms them into caricatures that can be dealt with as those in power please. And since power in the society created by imperialism is inherently tied to whiteness (or rather, perceptions of whiteness), even fictional settings need to be scrutinised for perpetuating harmful stereotypes that reinforce white supremacy

GW games in general are pretty bad because of the chud community surrounding it, but Age of Sigmar is a step in the right direction. I have mentioned the Cities of Sigmar before which are a good first step at dissolving the ethnostate fantasies people had about WHFB factions, we now need to tackle the other remaining ones in order to create a more inclusive setting that has space for everyone (which will also translate into more customers and thus a healthier game)

Colonialism etc has existed forever, we just got lucky we were in ascendancy when technology was at he right point to make us dominant. Anyone else would have done the same thing.

Heteronormative gender roles being "white" is absolute bullshit. It's biological. There's a reason this nonsense doesn't exist outside of white countries and they know there's only 2 genders.

Nah like it or not, this is fundamentally a justified take, all WHFB "country but X" factions are very likely abysmal dogshit.
I do not possess the depth of knowledge to pass judgement on each one of them, but as a slav Kislev is incredibly embarrassing and cringe to look at. Like, it was made by a person that didn't have even surface-level knowledge of the source of "inspiration" and I can assume the same would apply to Lizardmen or Tomb Kings. Depths upon depths of cool, weird, unique mythological concepts left untouched in favour of pop culture slop (except said pop culture slop is old so its uhh soulful or something)
>>
>>97135778
As much as the above anon is baiting everyone yeah you're right, it would be neat having more diverse shit done through the lens and with that eye for detail of the culture itself. Would love some more South American designs like Mayan Khorne and more crazy lizardmen. More weirder asian theming for the elves or crazy catholic or arabic shit for the Cities of Sigmar.
>>
>>97135778
which is why Age of Sigmar interpretations can and should improve on them. Cities of Sigmar are a prime example which have done away with a lot of problematic aspects of the Empire (though sadly many remain yet, but that is for future editions to fix). Seraphon should be fixed, too, the aztec style is really offensive and tied to racist stereotypes about ancient aliens and similar problematic media, as are Ogor Mawtribes, which are basically Yellow Peril combined with stereotypes about Asian food preferences. GW has already begun to tackle some of these issues, as evidenced by the removal of the Bonesplitterz, which were one of the worst remnants of the World-That-Was, but much more is still to be done
>>
I guess the "AoS is secretly being cancelled" thread didn't get the reaction he wanted so the TWW secondary decided he needed to come here to larp with the exact same talking points. You'd think he'd just go play TWW instead of jerking off into his own mouth.

Personally I think it's a good thing the real world themes are so shallow. I think if they were all more culturally accurate you would have a lot more people trying to tell you what you can and can't do with your models. The fact that they're all barely inspired by the most basic shit means you aren't going to have someone call you a bad person because you painted some models in the irl cultures unlucky chartreuse or some shit. Here's my warlord.
A proper crafty lad Da' Baron Snatchem is. After brewing his own mushroom ales he learned the local orruk and giant tribes of ghur would pay fortunes in armour, weapons, great beasts and magic gubbins for his shamans to tinker with for just a casque of his halucinogenic brews. He's now amassed a great mercenary company comprised of any greenskins willing to make a quick buck for some dirty work. Da' Baron lumbers into battle on his trusty croqsquig, Skullcruncha, and Scabs the bothersome vulture always leering over him.

>From the ripe young age of 600, it became clear that fate had great things in store for Prince Zinfandel the Straight. As soon as thin whiskers began to sprout on his upper lip, he was exiled from elf society for fear of the upheaval he represented. It is common knowledge that only one in ten thousand, or perhaps even fewer, Elvish men are born male. Often, entire generations will pass consisting entirely of women and gender neutral elf men.

>Lost and pubescent, the young Elfling Prince roamed the land until he was taken in by a family of peregrine griffons and also some humans I guess. Now he leads a band of Freeguildsmen, rallying them to battle atop his griffon, Chugs-Swiftly.

Frostbreath mawtribe

A band of particularly crafty beastclaw raider ogors that prefer to hunt down Tzeentchian and Khornate followers of chaos, often lingering in place far too long to craft cannonballs and gunpowder to supply their siege weaponry. Got their name for their icy breaths that chill things too close to their mouths, which is why they prefer to hunt for hot-blooded prey. Khorne and Tzeentch worshippers and daemons are delectably spicy to them.

I know I'm replying to one of the bait posts mentioned above, but akshually there's a fair few historical conspiracytards that believe in exactly this kind of thing. There's a pretty popular 'alternative history' theory that states that much of architecture of the 1800-1900's is actually inherited from a russian/siberian super civilization that had access to 'free electricity' and ultimately got destroyed by a mud-flood (whatever that means), which then got covered up by the british empire somehow (only believable part lel)
Anyway, in this day and age no civilization is safe from retards claiming another one secretely built their big buildings.

>How does he mass produce the amount of ale required?
After making his first batch he and his Boyz all got drunk and passed out and when they woke up a giant was there and had spent the entire night drinking their entire yield. The giant felt bad, not because he drank someone elses property, but because there was no more for him to bring back to his friends. So the giant agreed to bring Da' Baron as many mushrooms as he could carry, from the forest beyond the plains cast in eternal sunlight where the grots would never go. The giant came back a few months later, bringing his whole clan, each having torn their own paths through the settlements and cities in their way, bringing with them the spoils(read: everything living they could cram in their rucksacks, now just rotting bags of blackened sludge and bones). The first giant helped the grots spread their fertilizers in the dens of the spiderfang tribes, and planted the mushrooms there, which began to propagate amongst the corpses. They've since started making larger batches, attracting more attention from the other nearby greenskins, all willing to work if it means access to his brews. Currently he is short handed, and the demand growing, the spiderfang tribes growing more and more frustrated with the tourists vomiting in their caves all hours of the day. He's since set out, with his nastiest, drunkiest, stabbiest gitz to sack and pillage the local settlements for slaves under the advice of his most trusted brew master, Blakklung, a truly immense grot(he's just an ork who stole a helmet and never takes it off) and close ally of Da Baron(if you ask Da Baron).

>Are any of the ingredients for these brews likely to bring him into conflict with other factions, and if so, who's his biggest obstacle?
It's more so about the mass kidnappings that follow him wherever he goes. Although there have been some drunk ramblings from some of the giants that speak of "angry plants wanting they dum mushrooms back"

Instead on gathering bones and resculpting them they prefer to unleash a magical plague that reshapes the bones of living vicitims, eventually growing a new ossiarch that emerges from their flesh. Hearthside Lore straight up reads the 6th ed armybooks, with little to no deviation.

New Year Silhouette videos are a given at this point, they do them every year.

I think the main curveball is that usually we get a big LVO preview in January but LVO has been moved, so GW has to either piggyback a different event or do an independent preview. We're at the point where almost everything covered in the last preview will be released soon so we're due.

AOS barely has any lore to sloptube about, everything's like small sentences and has nowhere near the random bulltshit or depth of Fantasy or 40k. >>
>>97137944
You seem to think that everything they release is something they just finished sculpting a year ago. It's more realistic to imagine that they have a large backlog of things, and things get shuffled around as they need to be. I'm sure every big space marine waves sculpts were done sporadically over a few years and they just wait for them to build up. Same as heresy.
>>
>>97137899
Nta but tzeentch is supposed to be conceptually abstract and hard to grasp. The two reasons to not like the range. Either because like me you are filtered out at level 0 by the flamers and horrors being weird blobby things that probably take a lot of work to paint well and otherwise look weird, or you are ascended and think that the range of abstraction should go beyond chewed bubblegum monsters and birdmen. In short, the range is either too weird or not weird enough. If someone doesn't like the range, don't assume their taste is bad, because it might be that to them you are the pleb with no taste.
>>
>>97137942
Despite the name of the channel, it's in English.
>>
>>97137969
NTA but I couldn't really conceptualize what the fuck was going on with flamers since I never saw the models in person just the pics on the website. Finally clicked seeing them in a video game IN MOTION that they're more or less just a set of floating clothes.

I would enjoy if Tzeentch had some more freak shit, like have the horrors basically be one blob with several slots for limbs and bits to slot in then give them a bunch of options. Maybe different faces too via squig kits (could even have some with horrors popping out) Have some weirder proportions on your creatures and go a bit more all out.
>>
>>97137962
>alongside Tzeentch Gors

>>
>>97137963
If you think about it that's pretty unlikely in this day age. It's especially less likely for AoS.

If you imagine their sculpting team as a bunch of geezers with come up with cool minis which they incidentally sell when they have enough to make a wave, sure, but realistically that's not how they work anymore. Im not saying it doesn't happen, but GW is a corporation and they wouldn't want to waste development time and resources on potential dead ends or leads that may not pay off for several years or even editions. They're chasing the next four fiscal quarters. AoS minis in particular are not as easily released as space Marines are, too. A random lieutenant with a previously not released load out for their WYSIWYG game is welcome whenever they release new Marines. A random dinosaur or ossiarch can only go in one army, so they certainly aren't planning on having more than a 10 - 20 sculpts in the works but not released for AoS at any given time.
>>
>>97137855
Ratling guns
>>
>>97138011
I don't know if I'd agree as much, I wonder if GW when they make centerpieces or models that you know for a fact you'll see 200 times for golden daemon entries if they know people are gonna use it for kitbashing.

Like if they put out a nurgle dude for AOS how likely do you think they know it's gonna cross-sell to 40k or like big monsters in AOS getting turned into something for another game?

if your taking doing just the basic box color scheme or something similair, it really doesn't get much easier than horrors or flamers. Horrors are color coded by name and pretty much just the one color, so you can do basic contrast or 1 layer paint and call it a day, and flamers are just a two color gradient. The range could obviously be weirder but between stuff like the guant summoner, the birds, chaos spawns etc I think it's pretty good. My main complaint is units like the mutalith vortex beast and sphiranx aren't part of the tzeentch battletome despite being perfect for the aesthetic.

>should go beyond chewed bubblegum monsters and birdmen.
Tzeentch demons always were weird bubblegum and even had a horror that used its head as a drum.
Tzeentch is the god of mutations not some lovecraft abstract horror so beastman, monsters etc are fitting for him.
Tzeentch armies always were about a small cabal of powerful wizards, sacrificial pawns (beastman/cultist) and demons.
What tzeentch needs is more mutated units like forsaken.

I think GW has a pretty strong expectation that their centerpiece models will, by default, be popular, but they can miss in either direction. I think they were honestly proud of Kragnos. I think they probably knew it was good, but didn't expect Ushoran to be as incredibly well received as it was. I think they certainly expected Vhordrai to have a better reception than the Bale Taurus, but even still I think they overestimated the BT
>>
>>97138192
I saw the Bale Taurus in person recently, that thing is pretty tiny for the base size they want for it. It's a cool model but not the craziest thing I'd imagine for a chorf centerpiece. It's one step below Gobbsprakk where I think he's pretty solid but not the most exciting lad in the world.

These are all the ones I remember from the past two weeks or so. We've had a fair few shitstirrers but I feel like they were more raids than homegrown 'tism.
Looking over things again I probably should change some things, I was clearly running out of ideas towards the end. Should replace one of these with "slaanesh was going to be cancelled theory" or something.
Also funny that the flopposter has been going at it from at LEAST early october. Nothing if not dedicated. Where the chorfs even fully released back then?

aos kinda goes out of its way to describe other ways for beastmen to come into being, major ones being asexual spawning from primordial goop or masses of flesh, or normal adult humans getting turned into beastmen mutants via spells or curses, and even the slaaneshi beastmen aren't really described as having particular things regarding lust and are more about pretty trinkets, or being the object of adoration from slaaneshi cultists, or perhaps implicitly fucking the fiends of slaanesh and generating fiend-bloods.

it's safe to say that the rape aspect would be ignored as much as possible, but then again one of ghyran's main continents is natively populated exclusively by female creatures.
>>
>>97138359
Cool, thanks for the detailed response!
>>
>>97138359
I'd say them being formed from curses, chaos corruption exposure mid pregnancy and corrupted beasts would be alot more interesting.

>>

>>
>>97138374
>The rape concept is just kinda stupid and comes off as a barely disguised fetish.
I think it's more so that women are held on a pedestal in modern Western society. So that rape of a woman is considered a tastless/taboo thing in settings. Even in settings where demons want to steal your soul to torture it for all eternity. Kind of dumb if you detach yourself from the taboo. Rape isn't worse than wholesale murder sorry not sorry.
>>
>>97138351
She's gay, dude.

Besides Dawnbringers 6, any other mentions of Daemon Prince Khul? Any lore on how he looks now?

>>
>>97138430
Only because you have been desensitized to violence and other depravity but live in a culture where women are put on a pedestal.
>>
>>97138396
It's one of those things where, yes, you are correct, rape is not as bad as mindless murder.
But as a society no one is going to be the guy who seriously advocates that rape should be viewed/portrayed the same as other violence in media. Even if they are correct you don't want to be associated with that, and if you feel strongly enough to proceed despite this stigma, that's when people start to assume there is something wrong with you.
>>
>>97138374
The rape thing was always a gross exaggeration from memes and little else, in warhammer the main way for beastmen to reproduce was between themselves.

It's also largely a holdover from the thing gw ripped off for their beastmen, the broos, where rape is a much more heavy handed element.
But more than for fetishistic purposes, this kind of stuff in foundational fantasy settings was an attempt to make fantasy that would feel gritty, dark, visceral and mature, as opposed to the otherwise pervasive idea that fantasy is fairy tales for little kids.
>>
>>97138420
a white dwarf had a scenario where post ascension khul was involved in a battle and they just told people to use the normal demon prince model.
bets are on a model for him coming at the end of this edition.
but we'll all be disappointed if he's just yet another bloodthirster.
>>

I was going to say, I don't think beastmen have ever been described as using humans to reproduce in the same wat fimir have. I hear a lot of people saying it, but nobody has managed to actually produce a source. On the contrary you do have mentions here and there of ruts and stuff, between beastmen themselves. But as you day yeah early beastmen models were literally just broo, so the connection is easily made by people.
>>

There wasn't a connection where they raped to reproduce. That was Fimir. The Beastmen raped for the love of rape and hatred of humanity.

>>
>>97138396
Rape can ever really only get an arbitrary mention here or there in media targeted at adults because the line between "depiction that makes evil guy look evil" and pornography is incredibly thin and easy to cross. It's not that rape is so distasteful it can't be mentioned, it's that people don't want to mix media with porn or borderline pornographic material. If you do want that, /KDM/ is right next door
>>
>>97138212

I'm curious what they'll put in the new one, since they basically already used all the basic infantry in this one. Then again lately gw has been getting really fuckig weird with the spearheads. New ghosts, fec, khorne and especially nurgle feel more like stock clearance than anything.
Anyway how does something like this look?
>dawnriders
>stoneguard
>ballista ?

Similar concept to the old cos one but hopefully a bit sturdier. Loomies have enough random units you could slot in though, they seem to like reusing warcry stuff lately too so we could see riverblades.
>>
>>97138566
That was really good stuff though, anon. Space aliens being racist towards Mexicans and ogres being offensive towards the Chinese was new material and we should always appreciate high effort new material.
>>
>>97138587
Ironically kdm has relatively little rape, it just has a ton of nudity partly in the "innocence, garden of Eden" sense for the PCs. And then you randomly have giant penis head shitting dick nipple monsters, but those reassuringly mostly just kill you.
>>
>>97138966
>And then you randomly have giant penis head shitting dick nipple monsters, but those reassuringly mostly just kill you.
Kino, if only the game didn't cost even more than warhammer.
>>
>>97138878
I think cross pollination is good. I think my threshhold for forgiveness for a mini or it's rules being a bit dog shit will be pretty low if the mini is agnostic in some way. I liked Sloggoth randomly being useful in gits before it got squatted. I like blocks of Chaos Warriors mixed in with the god-specific armies. I liked Warcry being a toehold into bigmar and I like that Chaos Demons players can easily play both games.

Would I buy Kragnos? No, the mini has no appeal to me. I would specifically build lists that do not need him. But do I think that when people can use their minis across more armies, they are more interested in playing more armies and therefore more games. It's also good for GW when people spend money.

>>
>>97138878

>>97138939
It’s hard to come up with a spearhead for LRL that is thematic but also fits the “stock clearing” aspect of newer ones. I could see a “Fury of the Realm” themed one that’s like

I hope the Kislev reveal on the 24th rumor is true having Slavic models would be enough to have me start a proxy CoS army.
>>
>>97139747
The basic gist is you'll get 4 new kits; two single model kits, one 5 man squad, one 10 man squad.
The 10 man unit is supposed to fulfill an assassin-esque function, they've been compared to the admech ruststalkers in 40k
The 5 man squad is apparently some sort of ranged unit, ushabti-lite essentislly.
The two single models are a bit more complicated as we don't really know how the concepts relate to each other, but there's been talk of a chariot and of a new arkhan. But what exactly that means is unclear, e.g. we couls get arkhan on a chariot, and say a foot melee character (just making shit up here). Or thr chariot could be a generic character, and arkhan is the other single model.
Tldr
>10 man assassin
>5 man mini ushabti
>single model (may be a chariot, arkhan, or both)
>another single model (may be a chariot, arkhan, or both)
>>
>>97139807
