Got into Battletech over the summer so I decided to try my hand at making terrain. First tree prototype made from dollar store supplies.
>>
I needed some weight on the bottoms and it worked out cheaper to use $5 worth of quarters rather than drive to the hardware store for washers.
>>
>>97170420
That's great, but ... how do we stand in the hex where the woods are?
>>
>>97170420
>>97170428
The green felt to define solid forest is only a slightly different shade than the bristol board we'll be playing on next game. I'm going to make bristol board roads and felt rivers as well. I'm planning to make some styrofoam cones into comms towers with toothpick antennas.
Those are the first minis I've painted so they're pretty lackluster
>>
>>97170446
It's alpha strike so no hexes. the trees are actually there. To be considered traversing woods you pass through defined clusters of three or more trees
>>

So, i've got some emails with questions about gift status and if i have tracking numbers, and i saw concerned Anons being not sure if they can/should write me already in the previous thread: You can always write me, and usually i reply quickly if i'm not asleep or at work. The worst that can happen is me telling you that i dont know anything.

But to somewhat answer the question here too: Last weekend, I've sent a general reminder to everyone who had not provided a tracking number by that time. That was around 40 people. This number is now down to 16, and those 16 will get another urgent reminder to ship their gift until 20th. That is the final deadline, and if there is no rock solid excuse, whoever is later than that is considered a grinch.
So, if you do not get an email with a tracking number by end of next week, absolutely feel free to reach out to me, if i do not write you first.

And last but not least, and without me wanting to stir up this topic from previous threads again: If you are absolutely unhappy with the contents of whatever you got in the mail, write me about it too. Its no help to just be mad about it here, but never mention it via email.

It is definitely a bit too late to realise I should've mixed some more dark green into the emerald layers, now it's a bit too clean to look natural; a friend recced me an indigo glaze for the recesses + lower curved edges and a very thin lime glaze for the highlights + crests. Is that sound advice to follow, I'm really bad when it comes to visualising this kinda stuff

By the looks of things you've only base-coated it, so just paint over with the new and correct base colour?

>I'm really bad when it comes to visualising this kinda stuff
Toss your reference photo into an image editor and grab the dropper tool to see what colours this or that bit in the gradients really are. Then copy that (or try to depending on how divine your blending skills are). As we can see here the base colour you've chosen is quite close to what would really be the extreme highlights.

The picture doesn't quite show it, but it's technically a couple of emerald layers over a silver basecoat so it retains a bit of shininess; I had originally tested a bunch of copper/bronze metallics but they ended up far too dull
>Toss your reference photo into an image editor
I'd never considered doing that, thank you anon. I guess I struggle a lot since I can never quite translate the shapes from a reference (and how they interact with their own light source) into the shapes of my minis (and how they would interact with an hypothetical light source).
But ye I can understand a lot more now, you have no idea how much you've helped me.
