Thank you baker san. What are people's hobby goals for 2026?I'm going to try and paint at least 1 model per month, and also improve my 2d art and rendering skills.
>>97292396I'll start by doing these.
>>97292396finish my backlog and hopefully continue to improve my painting
>>97292396I am going to finish my army and wonder what it was all worth
>>97292396probably try and learn something new, not just plod along at my level.id love to get good at skin and im tempted to pick some some Darkoath marauders even though i dont play AOS, and maybe some fantasy busts
>>97292396>What are people's hobby goals for 2026?This lot.
My current WIP. Anon, what color highlights?
>>97292396hopefully assemble and paint enough minis to play a game. and more importantly build up the courage to finally meet some people to actually play a game.
>>97292420>finish my backloglol.lmao even.>>97292431>What it was all worthNothing...Everything.
>>97292472It's not that big actually, I got it down to like 8 kits
>>97292396>finish up Blackstone Fortress>Darkwater>80 or so RohirrimThat‘s the minimum this year.
>>97292396Resist urge to buy new stuff before assembling/painting what I already have. FOMO is a bitch and I often lose the fight but it gets better, slowly.Secondary - continue to get rid of fear of failure and kitbash/customize projects.
>>97292396Craigslist sales and boxing, plan is to move in Summer.I may try to learn how to paint faster, at this point I'm slow and mid, with improvement hard.I can at least get fast and mid.
>>97292396I really should go through the third room and just sell a bunch of stuff I'll never get round to using.
I am very out of practice and need a nudge in the right direction. I just cant put my finger on it. He is still a little glossy because the wash isn't completely dry. Also I haven't attached the base yet
>>97280042I forgot to ask last thread what your brown(s) are for the quiver
>>97292396Firstly, finish at least one of my projects, any of them, I don't care, I just need to know that I can finish something I start without dragging it on for 10 years. Secondly, learn to sculpt, both in physical media and digitally, I have some ideas I want to realise and don't have the money to see them done by others who already know how to do it.
>>97292342Anyone missing theirs?
im thinking about adding some accent color.any ideas? (dont mind white parts and blutac connections its still WIP)
>>97292964He's lookin' at me and it's making me feel weird.
>>97292692Contrastslopping is handicapping your development as a painter. Contrastslop should be a tool used by people who have mastered the basics, not as a crutch for those who don't want to learn to paint.
>>97292692Where’s the mini from?
>>97292692He’s not bad but he is rather flat. Each individual bit of the model is too uniformly light, mid, or dark. The flesh tones and skulls could use a wash to add deeper shadows and then a highlight to bring back the lightest tones. The reds and blacks could use some layered highlights on upward facing surfaces.
>>97292396i will try my best learning to paint minis and faces. I want to learn how to paint a femine heads so i can finally paint my sisters without them looking like males in wigs
>>97293021Step 1 is getting third party printed heads and not using GW's. Skilled painters can make them look good but it's damn near impossible.
>>97293007Im not done but I feel like it's starting to come together. I am really out of practice with edge highlights
Finished.>>97292828It's AK Mahogany Brown highlighted with AK Orange Brown with some black recess shading
>>97293166looking cool. kinda remind me of shang tsung
>>97293225aren't these in a block of 20-40 anon? aren't you going to go insane?
Got a base sorted for a themed tree for the corsairs, though I may end up putting the tree on a smaller base and using this one for the starweaver when it arrives.
>>97293326no that's one of the ogre sized ones.
>>97293326all good, it's just a unit of 3
>>97292396Complete a Skaven and Chaos Dwarfs army each
I cracked this open for the first time. I knew it was basically pre-thinned, but it was way more watery than I was expecting. I shook the shit out of it to the point where it was bubbly when I screwed the cap off. Is that right? Also the actual nozzle is real fucking weird.
>>97293390>Is that right? It is, that stuff's not just pre-thinned, but pre-thinned for airbrush use.
>>97293390Yeah it's extremely thin, still the best metallic I've ever seen even if it is weird to paint with
>>97293390Have fun learning what Vallejo paint lines are for brushes and what ones are for airbrushing because they usually don't do shit to label them as such. You basically just have to learn what packaging they use for each kind.
is there a Payne's grey contrast paint? i got some of that color in a cheap amazon acrylic paint set and I like the color, the problem is that the amazon basics acrylic paint is just not for miniature painting. it ended up being kind of streaky but I liked how it ended up, so i was wondering if there was something similar with contrast paint?
>>97293590Blueish grey... Space Wolves Grey perhaps?
>>97293606too bright/too blue I think. i was looking at my LGS's website and maybe GraveLord Grey Speed Paint is what I'm looking for. I'd have to see it in person though.
An anon here was painting mtg cards a while ago.I’m looking to do the same thing to get some homemade tokens and i’m wondering how to keep the card from curling. I assume the water from my paints will curl the card.
>>97293390It's an airbrush paint. Despite that it covers well on regular brushes.
>>97292396I am going to get into bust painting to really try and push my skills
>>97292396New year, new [ar]meNurgle for AoS (decided before they announced the new models what a coincidence)Alpha Legion for 40kFinally get oil paints to work for me
>>97292396Complete a 2k black templars army. I did an Emperor's champion. Now working on these sword bretheren.
This feels like a failing experiment, painting with fluo paints with a brush is a pain. This feels like it'd be significantly easier with an airbrush.
>>97293941It probably feels like that because it is like that.
>>97292462My opinion, take ulthuan grey (a god paint) and mix it with your blue until you get the highlight color you want. If you have a shitload of minis to do then after you settle on what you want through experimentation you can buy a paint that is close.Try hoeth or calgar blue.
>>97292462don't highlight. add streaking grime and oil.
>>97292396Finishing this guy, along my HH army.
>>97294073Nice. some feedback from a fellow armour enjoyer.1. heat dicsolouration on the turbo laser destructor should be most prominent on the nozzle, no?2. will you paint the eye cockpit glass?3. some soot on the vulcan would be a good addition.4. You will weather the thing, right?
I feel like I am making forward progress. I added a few highlights to the red and the skulls. I also added gold trim to the book.I feel like I may have used too much flesh wash on the skulls because now I think they don't look like bleached bone but over all I am liking were I am going. I am done with the baseAny more suggestions or should I just leave well enough alone?
>>97292396Paint more, try to actually paint humans, meme builds and backlog stuff.
Progressing along with my Poxwalkers. Got the last dude of this particular model done and I have 7 of em painted up in total. I painted the one on the left first, middle second, and right third.
>>97294151>1. heat dicsolouration on the turbo laser destructor should be most prominent on the nozzle, no?Heat discoloration is blue-white at it's most intensive, it's right there, around the nozzle>2. will you paint the eye cockpit glass?>3. some soot on the vulcan would be a good addition.>4. You will weather the thing, right? That's the plan.
and done.
>>97292396I am going to complete all my 90% done models
>>97293390That paint is one of the best steels in the game but it's very runny and liquid yeah. If you're having trouble with the paint overflowing on the mini, try wicking off excess paint from the brush on a very moist piece of paper towel. Something that doesn't shed particles. I find that using a bone dry paper towel soaks up way too much paint and moisture from the brush and you waste a ton of product.
>>97294459I've yet to find anything better
>>97294380heat discoloration only happens under specific circumstances that you would be unlikely to see on a gun. plus in a conventional gun the highest temperature is closest to the chamber and cools off towards the muzzle. idk about a laser gun, but I would imagine it would be still hottest at the point where the energy is being turned into light, rather than the point where it comes out of the gun. personally I think it's a stupid meme that has somehow taken off because people don't actually understand how it works irl. if you want to argue "I know it's not realistic but it's cool like star wars having sound in space" then there's no point in arguing about which order the colors would realistically go, put them however you think looks best.
Basing wip. Thinking of a darker sand color.
>>97294699Fun proxies.
>>97294692Bro, I don't know what to tell you, I don't care.
printed and painted this today
>>97294692It was originally only a thing on flamers (which do that IRL), then people started doing the technique on any heat weapon period because it looks cool.
>>97294860How big is he?
>>97294392nicely done, super clean and i'm a big fan of the color scheme!
>>97294860Very cute.
>>97292396Paint two teams for Silver Bayonet, plus monsters.Assemble and paint the Blood and Plunder starter box I got years ago.Build historical terrain that works for both games. Get games in for both.Start the local history/folklore wargaming blog I've been mulling on.
>>97292396If I manage to paint my 4 KT teams and what's left to paint of my wood elves army I would be really, REALLY happy
>>97292396I'm hoping that the new corsairs will be devoid of much of the trim that plauges the current CSM kits (look at the new apothecarys base). If so I'll build my own warband of standard renegades without all of the chaos wank.
Recommendations for quality airbrush paint? Looking to upgrade and try more detailed airbrushing. I've ordered a couple from Vallejo and one from AP. Vallejo (black) worked OK in my workhorse Iwata Revolution but continually clogged my finer-nozzle Iwata Eclipse, which is the one I really bought it for. Wil try the AP today. The weather is very dry here at the moment - should I give the Vallejo paint a second chance when humidity goes up? I don't want to have to thin airbrush paint every time - introduces variability (plus it's a pain in the ass). I'm fine to thin regular paints, of course. Thanks!
Space Wolves Combat Patrol
>>97295578All hobby airbrush paints are just pre-thinned regular paints, there's no magic to it. Oftentimes they require further thinning anyway, depending on your user case.Buy normal paint of your preference and thin it. Vince's mix (80/20 thinner/flow improver) is still the king. That said, grabbing a few shades of artist grade acrylic airbrush paints, like Aero from Schmincke might be a good idea, too, since they tend to be a lot nicer than hobby acrylics - especially for usually problematic colors, like white or yellow. They are a bit on the expensive side, though.
>>97294904he's on a citadel miniature holder. the base he's stuck on is about the same size as a space marine base>>97295068ty
>>97292396>hobby goalsKeep improving and get faster (maybe invest in an airbrush). I have a long term client who needs 2000 pts worth of space marines painted. My goal is to finish whatever he hands over to me, find new clients, and keep a good balance between painting & family life.
>>97294041I like this idea, but I don't think it fits with the Ultramarines.
>>97295599Thanks! I'll look up Vince's video on the subject - I like his content. And I'll look into Schmincke paints.I'm especially committed to git gud at this aspect of the hobby this year, having invested in a decent couple of airbrushes.
>>97295823>a couple I cannot imagine ever needing more than 2 honestly, what are you going to be using them for
>>97295599>(80/20 thinner/flow improver)I just want to add - do not mix thinner and paints from different companies. When I added Vallejo airbrush thinner to AK paints, they turned into rubbery mess. And question - I heard that Vallejo airbrush thinner and flown improver contains toxic stuff in it, mainly 2-Butoxyethanol. Is that true?
>>97295864The HP-CR is for standard zenithals and basecoating. The HP-CS will be for filters but especially for blending, at least if I can figure out the techniques. :)
>>97295877>I just want to add - do not mix thinner and paints from different companies.>When I added Vallejo airbrush thinner to AK paintsWeird, I do that nearly every night with no problems whatsoever. I think I went through 40+ AK colors without any trouble. I also mix Vallejo airbrush thinner/flow improver with Citadel and AP paints with no problem. >Is that true?Probably, it kinda smells like it. That said, it's a very low toxicity and you would need a LOT of exposure (~20 times more than what you get from airbrushing) for it to become even potentially dangerous. IIRC it's not carcinogenic with humans either. >>97295911NTA, but why not just get Infinity with multiple nozzles? I'm interested in the reasoning, because I'm seeing a lot of people with this Iwata combo.
>>97292396Finish my night lords and do a cool custom paintjob on my remaining BA successors. Lots of white and gold! Also i want to get better to win a non-local painting competition. And finally make progress on my diorama projects. (I got loke 5 more armies i want to get but it's really unsustainable, so my plan is to make a diorama for each to get it out of my system).
>>97296292show Night Lords
painted a quick preacher to lead my ogrynsi was never good at painting skin and it really shows comparing those models with year between thematleast new camera settings are getting there what do you think
>>97294877>It was originally only a thing on flamers (which do that IRL)no they don't. look at pictures of real flamethrowers. you don't even see it on welding torches.
>>97294151>heat dicsolouration on theWhat does it matter? that's not what heat discoloration looks like to begin with, I don't know who the fuck came u with this rainbow shit but it should only be that gold color at the tip, this isn't an exhaust pipe, the fuel coming out of the flamethrower is not hot INSIDE the pipe.
>>97294692Oh look, I'm not the only anon ITT who understands at least!
>>97296302The whole army minus some war dogs in various stages of completion.
>>97295711add more detail colors and decals then. you can put gold on the side hatches like you did on the top and add white racing stripes. also make the driver's viewport look like a window.
noob question, but how should I highlight orange clothes on a greenskin character? I remember reading something about red should be highlighted yellow, right?
>>97296478>>97296302And one of the first characters i've completed like two years ago
>>97296494i have pretty sizeable orange orcs&goblins faba army and if i remember right i just mixed orange with bleached bone for the highlight might have used some yellow too for the characters to make them stand out
>>97296478looking good and i like the lost and the damned any plans on basing them
i love kitbashing
>>97292396after a two year hiatus, i wanna get back on a 365 models a year minimum goal like i used toso far so good
>>97296525I don't have b bone, but thx, I'll try something
>>97296614I started doing urban rubble, or the graphite sands of Tsagualsa, any suggestion is welcome though! the guardsmen are supposed to be penal guard, thus the green overalls
A couple of threads ago I was asking how to tell if your work is good enough for a painting competition. Some of you said "just git good, bro". Some said to get feedback here.So here I am, asking for feedback.Pic is some of the work I've been doing on my competition entry.I need brutal honesty. Is it enough or am I dreaming? How would you make it look better?I know the photos are shitty, sorry for that.
>>97296985spear has got some weird snow looking shit on it
>>97296985The head is fantastic, ez 10/10. The armor needs some shading, it's very flat now. Even just some basic zenithal/shading with airbrush would help it a lot. The same applies to the banner. The freehand is lovely, but the fabric itself needs more contrast/shading.
>>97296965>guardsmen are supposed to be penal guard, thus the green overallsi thought they were nurgle traitors because of the plague ogryns and those marine handlers back there, maybe a different editionwhen it comes to basing i would stay away from browns because power armor trim good luck anon
>>97295877>When I added Vallejo airbrush thinner to AK paints, they turned into rubbery mess. That's weird, I've been using Vallejos thinner with AK and Citadel and never had any issues
>>97296985is that freehand banner using metallic paints in a non metallic way? I'd suggest not using metallic paints but that's just personal preference. IMO it'd be much more readable and less muddy in purely non metallic metal. The head is looking very good and I'd watch if the leg flesh starts to get too thick with the layers of paint but looking good so far. Some thin glazes of that mint green on the undersides of the armor would make it nice -the back seems to pop more because of it- but idk what you're going for
>>97297008Well, the weather outside is dreadful>>97297015Thanks. This is helpful. More contrast it is.>>97297054The banner is all NMM. The photo is just bad.
>>97296985That freehand is very nice! I like the head and armor as well but I'll have to second the anon saying that front of it looks pretty flat compared to the back. You could try to add more of that greenish blue. The cape does need more contrast though, push it further in the shadows and go brighter on the folds maybe?>>97296754Those are pretty great for being painted a day each!>>97296737Lovely red but I feel like "mouth" of the helmet looks kinda goofy>>97296478Very nice army, anon!>>97296351These look great to me, I especially like that red cloak. The ogryn skin is good honestly, all it would need is a bit of blending to tie it together.>>97294860So cute! Nice job matching the colors with his original design, too.>>97294699Cute bugs, I like that dark blue you're using.>>97294392Lovely yellow, very nice elves.>>97294073Super smooth so far, he looks great.>>97292964The camo pattern looks really cool. For your accent color I'd personally recommend turquoise or deep blue.
>>97297225Based Shima Rin poster.
Pestigors are now in a playable state, ill pretty them up once the rest of the box is at a similar standard
>>97297225thank you anon and very nice new year to you too
painted my first ever carnifex. any feedback or easy improvements I could try for the next one?
>>97296754A model a day is insane. How do you even get that much plastic?
Found some of the old bendy plastic star wars miniatures game fig, so touched one up as a base placeholder.
>>97297412He's doing his job well.
>>97295921I bought the Iwata Revolution and loved the quality and the process of airbrushing much more than expected, so picked up the Eclipse for finer work. But now I need to actually develop the skill to justify the investment, hence my original post. :)
>>97297431Based. Airbrushing is awesome, but often ignored by mini painters for some reason.
>>97297373white is really difficult paint to master and i have no idea why leviathan is one of the main paint schemes they decided to to advertisenext time you could try either thinning the wash or just washing the parts that clearly need it or you could pick out all the raised areas with white now and go for the really striking contrast scheme
>>97297437>Airbrushing is awesome, but often ignored by mini painters for some reasonNTA but I never understood that honestly. It's especially surprising in people that buy GW kits. I mean you're spending so much on the plastic anyway, why would you skimp on a tool that can make certain parts of painting easier and faster?
>>97297043>>97295921Don't want to argue with your experience, I just say that I had this issue exactly with Vallejo airbrush thinner and AK paints, even posted about this here, confused. I also used "old" thinner (when they changed formula, they apparently removed mentioned 2-butoxyethanol), if that changes anything. It would right away cause paint to form thick, rubbery layer on needle, which didn't happen when adding just plain water to AK paints or Vallejo thinner to Vallejo paints (both new and old). Found old photo, this is how it looked like so I'm not making this up.
>>97297486>I also used "old" thinnerMaybe that's the reason, I've been using the reformulated one since the beginning.
>>97297482Probably because airbrush have less usage with minis than with larger scale models. Sure, it is very convenient to apply primer/varnish that way, base coat all over or do shading for contrast/ink usage. But with such tiny details, it really is easier to just use normal brush instead of being so super precise. Both tools have pros and cons but with minis, brush simply have more pros than airbrush.
>>97297437>>97297482>Airbrushing is awesome, but often ignored by mini painters for some reasonwhen airbrushing first started to raise its head in the late 2000s everyone hated it and even here it was considered cheatingyou know the drill first dipping and then washes were cheating then came along airbrushing and everyone hated that too and then contrast paints paints came and everyone lost their shiti will never use that every anon cried in unison every time but eventually we all did
>>97292396Going back to painting at all would be a great improvement already. As far as short/medium term goals go:>finish the atlantian spears and fish tyranid forces I have>assorted fantasy warbands to make smaller projects>starting to try out oil paints>try sculpting again if I have more time (had great fun but never tried again as I lost the sense of time and was almost late for work)>more practice with the drawing tablet>start writing again>prepare some more stuff for RPGs
>>97296494Flesh color, it's basically orange+bone white
>>97296754Anon how the fuck where you able to paint 365 minis like this a year? Are you living on NEETbux?
>>97297613Then he wouldn't be able to afford 365 minis a year..
>>97297613paint 2 on 2 weekdays and take the weekend off
>>97297634Depends entirely on what country he lives in. An old buddy of mine is getting 21k NOK a month, roughly 2k dollars or 1.7k euros, while living with his rich ass parents. He's got zero monthly fees. No rent, no grocery shopping, nothing. He spends all his money on pepsi, video games, weed and fucking high tier roast beef for his dog.
>>97297665anon might also have multiple huge armies that he just decided to strip and repaint or bought a new one used
Starting to block in an angry fella.
>>97297665While technically true, someone whose job is "son" while the oligarch parents pay for everything is not what usually is meant when neetbux are mentioned.
>>97295599>Aero from SchminckeHow do these compare to other inks? Schmincke is around 50% more expensive than Liquitex per ml, and over twice the price of picrel. At least where I live. Was thinking of ordering some new inks soon as I've been very happy with the few bottles that I own so far, so I'm all ears
>>97297702Fair enough, that's far outside the norm I guess lol

>>97293860Looks great Anon, want to roll them too.
>>97297890Damn anon having a lot of shit is one thing but having so much of it actually painted is something else.
>>97297482I mentioned this before but everyone called me a troll. for whatever reason warhammer people are very insular and uninterested in products and techniques from outside their circle. it doesn't matter if it's common knowledge in other hobbies or industries, if gw doesn't sell it or if one of their related influencers isn't shilling it they don't want it.
>>97298100the stuff i've painted over the years man, i probably have close to 30 thousand points in 30k alone>>97297955i hope, i need to find meds that prevent me from thinking of the closest bridge each time i look at my unpainted stuff>>97298061i hope you catch up and recover some of what was thrown awayi've been in a shitty mood, am sorry, will do better next time
>>97298169To be fair and optimistic, I can see how one would either not care enough about looking around for new techniques, because he just wants to have some painted shit on the table, or think that using acrylics only is a rabbit hole deep enough.

>>97297788>>97297890>>97298305I remember you from the HH threads anon, keep rolling. Props for the output, I already am at a point where I hesitate to work on new stuff because I have no place to store it, I really should work on some display solution.
Ok i told myself to get things done quick without painting details but i decided to treat myself with some nice dead faces to paint
>>97298448Pls be rotated correctly now
>>97298308wanting to do the bare minimum to make your army look presentable is completely understandable, but I frequently see people who clearly put a lot of effort into their work and are asking for tips to get better flatly reject anything that isn't common within the gw community. if you tell them about wet palettes or glazing they are happy to give it a try, but if you suggest they use enamel paints or get an airbrush they will come up with excuses why they can't or don't want to. every time someone complains about painting trim I mention reverse washing and even post a video tutorial how to do it, but no one ever responds or says they will try it. in years of posting on this board I've only seen one person doing it and he clearly wasn't your typical warhammer painter.
>>97297482Because it's literally cheating.
>>97298563Totally. That's what I said to that guy who tried to sell me a "brush". Like I dont have fingers to paint my minis with. Fucking losers paying for tools that make painting a better experience.
>>97298563
Me experimental Uruk-hai are coming together nicely. I was going to do the other 4 units as good guy infantry but accidently painted them black. I am not sure what good guys to do. I might do 2x Rohirrim & 2x Elven. Then archers for both sides, then cav and finally artillery/monsters/elites.Once they get a bit of detail they will look much better and then I need to see if I want painted spear tips or I cut the wire coating.Unsure whether to bother with swords at this scale.
>>97298582When I see a smooth basecoat or a nice gradient done with brush, I know that took skill and time and effort. When I see the same and I read it's been done with an airbrush, I immediately lose interest in the paintjob. Might as well look at machine-painted action figures.
>>97298617trying too hard
>>97298624I presume you also think bringing flippers to a swimming competition is fine cause it's still swimming anyway? Airbrushing is cheating, simple as. You can do it and that's fine, but you're using a crutch, don't lie to yourself.
>>97298651I guess your light and shadow bait got a bit stale
Doing a test mini to work out a scheme for my Amazons. Think this is close but leaning more towards a brown instead of black for the leather/clothy stuff. (I was thinking panther hide at first but not really liking the result) And probably starting with a darker green and layering up. I do like the gold armor but think I need to pick up a brighter gold for highlights.
>>97298668
>>97298674 I would hit
>>97297437>>97297482If I were to buy something, I want to be sure I'll actually use it. Don't want to be the photographer who bought hundreds of dollars in gear only to take two photos. Although I'm considering it because I want to prime indoors during a rain.>I mean you're spending so much on the plastic anywayMan, speak for yourself.
>>97298668>>97298674>Amazon blood bowl player>Green clothes>golden armorOkay so I painted this last night, back at it again with the oil paints and I’m gonna let the hair set so I can do a straight white over it.
Didn't get a whole lot done today. Worked on the armor highlights some more and tried to get some interest on the mace. I'm trying to go for a vary dark metal with brightly exposed edges of the mace but I'm not getting the contrast I want. Even going from Vallejo metal steel with a couple washes of nuln oil up to stormhost silver isn't making much contrast. The black armor is coming along nicely though IMO.
>>97298668the skin and armor colors are too similar
another guy finishedI really like the look of washed metallics but I hate the application, though I've been mixing my own with paint and medium which might be why. maybe flow improver could fix the streaking? or maybe it'd be easier just to get the real thing
>>97298966Yeah. That's why I want to get a lighter gold. And the skin will get a different color shade as well.
>>972983413 out of 5might as well stay up all night and do them all
>>97298617>>97298582Same thing with store bought paints and pigments honestly. If you don't mine and grind your own pigments and craft your own paints what the fuck are you even doing? You better learn how to blacksmith too to make your own pickaxe and shovel for the mining step.
I feel like I've finally got the colour of the display board correct (this is just one square), but now I also feel like everything being so saturated -from model to board- might start damaging my eyeballs and be ugly. I might add some desaturated elements like discarded papers? I don't really know and if anyone has an idea to fix or thinks it's probably okay lemme know
>>97295593I hate space.

Who wants to play a game? It's really simple. We are going to paint a mini. Any mini you want. The catch?Go to the following link and click the generate button. The result is the color scheme you must use.https://www.colourpalettegenerator.com/
>>97299334Let's fucking goooooooooo.
>>97299340Almost identical to the scheme I did for my arizona green tea inspired 3d printed tau robots
>>97299340Unprimed mini from a board game.Gonna let it dry then slap a wash on it.
>>97299436Shit. Forgot my pic.Board game is HexPlore It Valley of the Dead King. Just speed paints that looked close enough and brown for bow and arrow shafts.
>>97299442The paint job was awful because I didn't give a damn about it. Mainly wanted to see how using colors I wouldn't normally use together can turn out.Honestly? They work pretty nice. Next time I will actually dedicate more than 3 minutes to seeing what kind of results I can get.
>>97298967I really like your style with the bright highlights and dark pinwash(?). Looks very comic book esque
>>97299623thank you>pinwashmanual, I just painted the shadow color in all the creases

How fine of a grit is ideal for buffing up the paint on rim bases? A toy store where I'm at sells Tamiya sanding stuff at P2000-3000.
>>97299786what do you mean by buffing? are you trying to remove it or make it more shiny?
>>97299204I think it looks great anon, it's saturated but not gaudy. Doesn't need any fixing imo

My mix was 80/20 of Vallejo's own thinner and cleaner. I use the same exact mix with other brands and it worked fine. I think it's the new paint formula Vallejo is using. It doesn't react well with their own airbrush thinner and I can see the paint seperating in the cup of my airbrush. It clogs in a few seconds>>97297486My clogs looked just like this but it would coagulate in my nozzle which was a bitch to clean. I had already bought a a bit of nu-vallejo by the time I got my airbrush so I had to start using water instead of thinner. It mostly solved the problem but it required more coats. it's a big reason I'm transtitiong away from nu-vallejo and towards AK, TTc, and Ap now.
>>97299979Just more clean-looking, removing brush marks for consistency and all.
>>97300033I've had similar clogging on the needle and inside the nozzle with both old Vallejo model colors and the new Game Color range, as well as AP Fanatic. Tried all sorts of thinner + flow improver ratios with both Vallejo and AP thinner. Even water as you did. Nothing worked for me. Got clogging, tip drying, splattering, you name it. Even if I was cleaning the tip with Tamiya cleaner every 15 seconds it would still clog, I wish I was exaggerating but it's been a goddamn nightmare running these paints through my H&S Ultra 2024.Meanwhile my AK and Pro Acryl paints work like a charm with no effort. With AP or Vallejo thinner and no flow improver, haven't even needed to get specific thinners for them. And I can simply eyeball the ratios and it just works.

remember the time when warhammer became trendy once again and suddenly everything had to have purple in it because people with no artistic eye whatsoever used some color wheel to check out what colors work best together

any other apartment anons? i wanna get into warhammer and more specifically painting but the primer step just has me worried. I dont know anyone with a garage and I dont have a balcony. Also live up where its snowy so the temps get below freezing quite common.
>>97301114I have a condo and the solution is to brush prime.Yes it takes longer but it’s not weather dependent. recommend the Stynylrez brand
>>97292451Paint 3 like Totally spies. If I get dubs, you also need to convert their haircuts
>>97301114If you have spray can warmed up with room temperature, you can cover it in bubble wrap to keep it warmed for longer, that helps a lot.Aside from that, airbrushing acrylic primer is still an option and does not require very advanced setup. Cardboard box would catch whatever fails to land on a model and P3 half-mask will catch any particles that would still bounce into air - and only stay there for few minutes since they are actually quite heavy and large enough (even atomized) to avoid Brownian motion. Just open window after work for few minutes to clean air and you are good to go. Vallejo Mecha Color primers are quite good and easy to use. I only have my desk to work at and everything is fine.
>>97301114I've primed multiple times by just opening a window and spraying out of it. Including in the cold. Just make sure the can is warm (keep it for an hour in your room or something). Otherwise, get an airbrush.

FUCK FORGOT IMAGEwhy aren't gw minis like this anymore?these are so much more fun to paint than 3000 belts and details
>>97301330large open surfaces are hard to paint hence contrast paints and some weird cool factor
>>97301335Because washes and contrast paints work better on high detail models and most people don't want to spend more than an hour or two painting a squad.
>>97301335I dunno, try asking one of the warhammer generals or something
>>97301335Tastes vary (stick around for a while and you'll notice people here bitching to no end both about models being too plain and too detailed), and not every company will centre their entire existence around catering to just your tastes specifically. If you don't want people to think of you as a spoiled manchild you need to learn to deal with that.>>97301337Large, smooth, open surfaces like a lot of space marine, eldar and even some stormcast parts models can be quite hard to paint well. But these Aragorn-wannabes are wrapped up in billowing fabric, that's a very different story.

>>97301396sorry if i struck a nerve anongames workshop used to make models like the ones i posted and they changed to add too much detail for the scale they make their games inthe minis before primaris were detailed but the details were made to be able to be seen for far away, they were much better designed

>>97302236
>>97302244Would love to know what these are from. Santa are you here? Anyone? Thx
>>97302101Simply picking suitable colours will get you far, pic (IMHO) related.Gigging deeper, unless you have very "pure pigmented" paints (which usually corresponds to poor coverage, making it not so popular with miniature paints nowadays) you can loose a lot of saturation with mixing, and so in this specific case going for lighter and darker (and, obviously, as saturated as you can find) shades out of the bottle for your shading&highlights instead of mixing your own may actually help significantly. If you use a suitable colour (basically yellow, orange, pink/magenta or green) you can also use fluorescent paints as a glaze on top of everything to help liven it up (fluo paints usually have absolutely awful coverage, suitable for glazing but trying to use them as the main colour can be a nightmare).
>>97302255I was thinking these look like some of the 15th Century Swiss that Bryan Ansell's Foundry company makes, but they don't match any of the Swiss models Foundry still sells on their website. There are other manufacturers trying to capture the old 3rd Edition WHFB vibe, but Foundry was my first guess since these guys don't have slottabases.
>>97302255>>97302313Found them ... or some of them, anyway. Foundry's "Sister Company", Warmonger Miniatures, has a range of pre-slotta ex-Citadel mercenaries.
>>97302258i started with fairly muted colors but later painted everything over with pure white for that little extra contrast
>>97302255>>97302368The other ladz are Warmonger's "Outlaws".
>>97302371While that likely helped contrast in terms of light-dark, it may also have desaturated the pink a bit and reduced, so I'm not sure it's what >>97302101 is looking for.
>>97302151>Nard's nidsnow that's a blast from the past and likely the reason of my fondness for similar purple-green schemes.>>97302258>fluo paints usually have absolutely awful coverage, suitable for glazing but trying to use them as the main colour can be a nightmareI already know that each fluo color is fucked in its own individual way. Good point about glazing with fluos, I haven't tried that.
>>97301853Keep em coming.Plan is to have swappable heads and arms. I will make variety with different combinations of shoulder pads, knee pads, coats, back veins, and random bling on the bodies. Definitely working some fur into the line for more senior models. You continue to inspire.
>>97302409Yeah, >>97302371 looks nice but I specifically don't want nice, I want an overly colorful eyesore, that's why I left out white paints and inks (unless done as a basecoat to be glazed with strong pigments, but I have few paints suitable for that).
>>97302258Also I just realized your example is almost completely the mini I want to paint (way too subdued though).
>>97302419Better question about fluo colors is how long they actually last. Afaik it can be even as short as a few months, if not less until they lose the luminosity, ruining your paintjob.
>>97302425I really like that middle head - if you could make the goggle lens slightly more bulbous like this one, that'd be perfect and I'd aim to use it on one of my corsairs. The jacket is also a nice touch.
>>97302437For eyesores obviously the highest value chromatic paints you can find. But also think about the color ratios. People talk a lot about the 60-30-10 thing with your colors but if you leaned into things like having an equal split it will also look wrong to the eyes.

Damn I didn't paint any minis this weekend. I'm trying to learn how to draw so that I can learn how to paint so that I can learn how to mini paint better. But that's gonna take a long time so I've got to balance still doing at least some mini painting.
>>97302715You definitely should keep painting minis as well because you need to build up mechanical skills along with your artistic ones

Have any of you tried to use gold leaf before?I've just scored the old Neferata mini on Ebay and saw this illustration and was wondering if it would look good to do her dress in gold leaf.Any tips?
>>97292334if i've primed something in light grey should i basecoat black before silver/steel metallics?
>>97302985back in the day i worked 5 years in the tombstone business i would suggest some kind of spray-on hobby glue if you are seriously considering coating youre minis with that stuffalso you dont actually cover the whole thing in one go but work it in piecemealfinish carefully with a makeup sponge until shiny and varnish thoroughly
>>97302985Like most such things it'll probably just end up looking like a partially gilded miniature, instead of someone in a gold dress expressed in the exaggerated-for-effect-style of normal miniature painting. You certainly won't get the kind of shading you see in that illustration unless you (very skilfully) paint it on top of the gold yourself. The clash between the gold foil dress and the rest will probably also ruin the illusion of the actually painted bits of the paintjob as well.
>>97303016Some metallics need that, some don't.

Little practical problem - I'm doing some custom scale model and initially wanted to imitate Tau battlesuits legs and feet but they looks rather unstable, with essentially standing on their toes. Mini won't mind but scale model would, especially movable one. Or I'm missing something?
>>97302739Seconding. The reason why people often says "your first 100 minis will be bad" is because your brain need to form all those connections related to mechanical movement and precision of your hands.
>>97302985It's a cool effect but I doubt it'll look like how you want it to. This is some dude using imitation gold leaf
>>97301848I'm confused by the chart. is the air just one of the other colors but thinner or is it a actually a 4th color? what about combo?>>97303139I think tau robots were originally designed to use flight stands so their feet would never actually have to support any weight.
>>97303139I don't know about the new models but the crisis suits (the ones that come in squads, I don't think they have made new ones yet) do stand on their toes. You can either add another toe in the back for a bird foot effect, or some kind of hoof.

>>97303089The thing about high tier NMM is that it's not *real* reflections. Not in the obvious way, I mean the reflections aren't true to what you would really see in real life either. And as such you can't just take a picture of a reflective mini painted in chrome paint, or covered in gold leaf, recreate it, and assume that will look like good NMM.It might give you an okay start, but really good NMM, in addition to the main reflections and shadows, and secondary reflections, also has completely made up areas of visual interest as well. It's not a purely technical exercise where you can just mentally ray trace each square millimeter, there is an art to it.
>>97303260damn I can't believe the mint hand paints shadows on every coin they strike so we can appreciate the details on them.
>>97299157>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcNu1p29_B4I go out and shoot my own elves, then remove their bones and shrink them to 28mm size, mold them and cast metal miniatures from the molds. >>97303434real reflections will always look better than fake ones, because as soon as you pick up your nmm and move it around you will notice that the reflections don't move, and depending on how gloss the finish is there will be real reflections on top of the fake ones.
>>97303438Then don't shade or highlight your minis.
>>97303434We weren't discussing NMM, quite the opposite really.>>97303438The "no shading!" autist is quite enough on his own, don't be such a sad shite as to copy him.
>>97303465This comment just tells me you've never painted good NMM or seen it irl. It looks fine irl, very striking even from different angles.Myths repeated from people who have never actually done NMM:>It only looks good from 1 angle>unless you do everything perfectly and consistently across every part of the model the illusion falls apartNeither of those are true. There are elements to them that are true, and obviously NMM takes inspiration from real reflections, but it is a different skill than "I'm just going to paint the ray traced version".
>>97303171>>97303177Okay, thanks. I mean, plastic at mini size is light enough to make this work, at larger models, especially with some sort of backpack, they would probably trip. Right now can implement lazy solution like on pic for my project or work on something more refined.Spoilered since it's not /tg/ material.
>>97303505it can look "fine" or "good" even when you are looking at it from a single angle. it completely falls apart as soon as you move it around.
>>97303517That's literally just not true.
>>97303332The longer the hair the longer the killstreak... or whatever the fuck you want. GW has never given a fuck about their own lore so just build your plastic the way that makes you happy>>97303438Oh wow. Since there is no background i cant tell the size of that coin since the shadows are identical on a small object and a large one
>>97303523it literally is. when you are looking at a shiny metal object you are expecting it to look a certain way. with nmm you can meet that expectation close enough so that even if it isn't completely realistic it makes you think "this is a shiny metal object right?" but when you pick up a metal object and rotate it or even if you just move your head side to side you expect the reflections to move, and nmm can't do that and will instantly look like an illustration instead of the real thing.>>97303527that one is 1/10th oz so it's a little smaller than a dime. this one is twice the diameter. can you tell the difference?
>>97303609shut the fuck up, craftsperg
>>97303171Air should be the same as the base colour, but pre-thinned to airbrush levels.
>>97303635what is combo then?
>>97303171>I'm confused by the chart. is the air just one of the other colors but thinner or is it a actually a 4th color? what about combo?1st shield is the Light, 2nd is the Base, 3rd is the Shade, 4th is the Base(Aero), 5th is a combo of Base(normal)+Shade+Light
>>97303609You're confusing looking like a real reflective surface with looking visually interesting or impressive. Yes, I agree the NMM doesn't look 'like real metal' if you move it, but it can and does look good from every angle, and when done well it looks significantly better than an actual gold reflective surface on a miniature even though you would be able to tell that it was actual gold if seeing it in motion.
>>97303660A combination of all three shades where the light and shade paints are used to highlight and shade the base/airbrush one would assume.
Stop respond to that retard.
>>97303677the most impressive thing a miniature can do is look exactly like a shrunken version of the real thing. when you interact with miniatures are you just looking at photographs from single angles or are you picking them up and moving them around? even if you aren't using it as a toy and just have it on a shelf most people will try to look at it from different angles, if only to see what the back looks like.>>97303680>call your lineup tmm>intend for people to use it for nmmsilly me I don't know why I was expecting otherwise
>>97303713>the most impressive thing a painting can look like is a mirrorThis is what you sound like.

friendly reminder this is a mini painted by the retard you're arguing with

>>97304035>stupid.>why didn't he just paint it like it actually looked out of his window?
>>97303870Sometimes the mechanics behind the motivations in Mordheim seemed really strange. The Sisters of Sigmar, for example, capture the Wyrdstone shards so that their convent's Matriarch can lock them away, safe from the other factions. That they get a reward at all represents the Matriarch granting them extra resources as a reward in return for their exemplary service.Wouldn't you just release *all* your resources to make your convent's few warbands as potent as possible in the hope that you can conquer the evils that dwell in the ruined city? Why hold back?Similarly, having the Orcs go to Mordheim actively searching for Wyrdstone instead of a chance for epic battles against non-Orcs was a real stretch to me. The Orcs don't understand the value of Wyrdstone - it doesn't even do anything for their Shamans in da roolz - and none of the human factions would trade or cooperate with them. How to they profit from it?Goofy-ass motivations aside, da roolz for da Orc warband were pretty neat.
>>97304061>Why hold back? The resources may be more of a steady-ish income and manufacture than there just being a ig pile of stuff hoarded together Once Upon a Time. So they're spending largely as much as they can each budgetary time period, and you can't have an extra crossbow this month without someone else getting one less because the extra crossbow won't get manufactured until next month.
>>97304047probably because he was a mentally ill weirdo who cut his own ear off
>>97304047why still talking about this in the new thread? It's like talking to a brick wall about nothing consequential and shits up a cosy thread with one troll again and again
>>97303789You give him far too much credit, that one actually has some highlights.
>>97303789This is probably about as good as this mini can be painted, the issue isn't the paintjob, the sculpt just isn't very good.
>>97304274lol
First try at OSL, how did I do? How do I improve it?
>>97304286Looks pretty good to me. Going to rely on how the rest of the model looks too though. Also, the front part of the plasma gun is usually a different material (like a shiny steel part) that you may want to try and imply has different reflective properties, but that's kind of an extra thing.
>>97303876>>97304035>>97304274all me btw
Finished NuCalgar as a part of a chapter master project but wanting some C&C on what I could do better before I start with the next one
How do I properly handle greenstuff? Every go I've had with it tracks every little thing that makes contact with it like the tools and gloves I'm using. I know I can smooth it with water but that still just seems to drag it a tad. I'm also finding tearing to be a very common occurence no matter how gently I work with thin layers.
>>97304429Looks pretty good except for this
>>97304429Looks a bit too flat. It would really benefit from recess shading. Maybe with a dark ink.
Got the Void Dreamer painted up, though after some close ups there are some bits I need to tidy up.
>>97303701Holy shit youre right it happens on every general on /k/
>>97304711They look really dope. Can't wait to see your full army once it's done.
>>97304818Cheers! Mostly just a Starweaver transport and a crewman with support weapon left, when they arrive. I do also have a skyweaver jetbike but I have no idea where the riders are.

Some progress.>>97304711Nice.

>>97304286imo that's too much, light doesn't work like thatthe glowing part is recesed it should not be able to light the panels over it so much if at all, unless you are painting glare or lens flare
>>97304286How'd you do the coils?
>>97305118NTA and I don't know if he did it like that but a decent way to go about it is basecoating everything with white and then picking out the coils with a very bright version of the color you want them to be. You can get a bit more fancy and do some blending so that it's brighter towards one side etc. Unless of course you were asking about paints he used in which case you'll have to wait for his reply.
>>97305283Yeah, but I really like that green so I'm hoping anon can chime in
What hobby saw does WIP recommend? I have a jewelers saw but my bigger saw has warped...somehow
>>97305418I've had some luck with photoetched saw blades for use in hobby knives, though they're obviously only for minor jobs. (Good for enhancing/restoring panel lines on model aircraft as well if you ever fall into that rabbit hole.)
>>97305418I use a Tamiya one with interchangeable blades.
>>97305458I have this one as well and it's very nice.

>>97302771Added a mohawk to be closer to the older crew models, but got it painted up. Lovely stuff man.
>>97302771>>97305685Creative cooperation, you love to see it.
Nearly done with the pilot for Invictor.
>>97305685Thanks! I don't have the ability to print for another 5 months or so it REALLY helps to visualise what I'm doing and what it looks like at the end. For scale I'm essentially tracing a known 1:1 artist just so I can get the size right. Also definitely making the giant mohawk a head option. Today's goal was to do hair and guns and maybe a pose or two.>>97305749It's truly a fun thing isn't it? It warms the cockles of my jade heart.
>>97305782On scale/size fwiw the file I got from your cults was absolutely massive when I went to print it, so I scaled it down a lot.
Working on more Poxwalkers at work. Gonna try and get the total painted up to 20 tonight, if I can.
So I started my krieg today trying to get something a little more grim. Not easy
>>97305761>silencer attached after the muzzle ports>silencer for rocket propelled ammunitiondid you put that there or is this another gw special?
>>97306098GW bolt sniper rifles have silencers as well
>>97305800Ah yeah, sorry. I usually do STLs and not OBJ files because my slicer/support program only likes STLs. I forgot OBJs are like 9 times bigger fresh out of Zbrush. If I remember right it's actually just scale it down 90% and it's right on the money - that or just trace an existing head.
>>97306098Bolts are two-stage: first a conventional propellant charge to ensure high stopping power at close range, then a rocket engine for high accuracy and speed over long range. Silencers would work for the initial propellant detonation.
>>97306170>Silencers would work for the initial propellant detonation.Do note his first line of greentext. It's important.
>>97306192That one's on anon. Official suppressed bolters and pistols don't have the hole.
I haven't done any Warhammer stuff in a long, long time. My dad bought me the Lizardmen versus Bretonnian starter pack when I was a larva and I thought about those days a lot over the holidays. Picked this up today. I have no idea what the rules are but I'm looking forward to assembling and painting these guys. There's a lot of stuff on these sprues and I'm not really sure how to go about assembling a kit so complicated. Any tips?Should I look at the rules or something? ...I don't think I'm actually gonna ever play the game.
>>97306253>There's a lot of stuff on these sprues and I'm not really sure how to go about assembling a kit so complicated. Follow the instructions.
>>97306253do the kroxigors in that set come with croc heads? if they do definitely use those instead of the gay ones on the box picture.
>>97306253brother, stay with Battletech! Warhammer is a trap!
>>97306253>Should I look at the rules or something?Spearhead is its own game mode where you play with the box contents, it's surprisingly competent.
>>97306257I tried but I think I fucked up by taking everything off a few of the sprues and I cut myself a bunch and broke a couple parts. now I don't know what number any of the pieces are and I have to fumble with every type of part to see if it fits.I got 1 guy done tho :D>>97306322idk I'm confused>>97306396I just want something new to paint. I was thinking of giving some of them laser guns or smth.nn
>>97306686>taking everything off a few of the spruesWell fucking done, anon.
>>97304061The Sisters are stretched very thin - they had enough resources to go doorkicking if some dipshit was playing at Wizard Bullshit with the powers of Chaos, but that does not translate into >we can feed and arm hundreds of new Novices to War Priest standards >And take on the remaining portion of the city's population who has turned to Chaos >plus all this mercenary filth streaming in to play with Demon Cheetos>while also guarding the ragged remnants of the faithful huddled beneath the Rock or outside the wallsYou're assuming everyone in the city isn't starving, desperate for any weapon or scrap of steel they can forge into one, and (at least in the Sisters' case) planning for the long haul in case they have to hold out for years.
>>97306445and sadly the designer left GW
>>97307129That's interesting. Did he just retire for the sake of it or is there any known internal infighting? I wouldn't be surprised if there was some attempt at unfucking Combat Patrol that came to heads with how the 40k boxes are more or less clearing excess stock.
>>97307133He left for some personal reasons and because GW put him as a product manager instead of designing games which was what he liked to do. He is now making his own game and has an youtube channel where he talks about the games he designed and game design in general.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywc6oXKpJe0
>>97305372I used AK's Slime Green mixed with white, the green used for the light is liquitex's vivid lime green ink, airbrushed over white (also airbrushed)>>97305056I went overboard, I see. I'll have to do something more subtle then.
I have painted and finished some minis before but I always based after painting the minis, that includes gluing the mini to the bare plastic base.Do you people generally make the base before or after?
I'm in a bit of a pickle, anons. The way I have assembled my Warhound has him leaning slightly without having something under his foot to keep him level(see pic related, stuffed some crap under the toe). It seems stable enough but I'm scared of him potentially toppling over and crashing into the ground one of these days. I'm not sure how to proceed with it because I would have, the way I see it, there's several ways to do it:1. Huge round base(which will make it a pain to transport)2. Huge oval base(which will look awkward, with the Warhound moving on at a different angle than the base would suggest3. Two smaller bases for each foot4. A scenic "footprint"(kinda like for buildings) for the forward foot that lets it rest the foot at an angle, I could probably even magnetize it for transportI'm leaning towards the last option, but I'd like some input.
>>97307263i wondered why did you pose the legs like that so i assumed you were going to put her on a basewould maybe go with 4
>>97307263Yeah 4 is the way to go here
>>97307293>>97307320I just wanted a dynamic pose, it was close what I was going for, but the lean was bothering me. The torso is on an axis I made out of a nail, so it can rotate freely, but if I rotate it perpendicular to the legs, it will fall over eventually, when the weapons are attached. Time to think of a base for this thing.
>>97307263Nr. 4
>>97307263Combination of 1/2 and 4? Large scenic base for display, but make it removable so you're just left with the footprint.
>>97306098I always thought that suppressors on bolters would be more important as flash hiders, rather than actual sound suppressing device.
>>97306253>There's a lot of stuff on these sprues and I'm not really sure how to go about assembling a kit so complicated.>Any tips?Get yourself two bottles of Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. Chop up the leftover sprues and throw them into one of these bottles to make sprue goo. This stuff melts the plastic and is good for filling gaps. Combined with the plastic cement - which can both glue together the mini, remove mold lines and soften up excessive sprue goo blobs - you're set for both assembly and gap filling. There are other great methods of gap filling like milliput thinned with IPA, but this is the easiest one for beginners. But do it. Big gaps around arms and shit are fucking ugly and ruin your mini.Bonus tip - grab a bottle of Tamiya Airbrush cleaner as well. This is the same stuff as Tamiya Extra Thin Cement but in a way bigger bottle offering more bang for your buck. You'll still want two bottles of cement though, they come with very handy brushes built into the lid.
>>97307594>which can both glue together the minigood luck to who is taking those models apart again
>>97307597Wdym? Are you already planning on selling your minis in the future when working on them?

>>97307663>dont you usually glue your models together so that they can easily be snapped apart againNo.
>>97307663>dont you usually glue your models together so that they can easily be snapped apart again in case you want to strip them or change weapons options years laterNah I never really strip minis that I consider done and same with changing weapons. I consider gap filling for aesthetics more important than weapon swapping I guess.>>97307663>also nice for the one purchasing them in case you end up selling themNever sold a mini either lol, stuck with orks ever since I started around 8 years ago
>>97307597That's his problem. Your problem is making the minis to be sold instead of painted/played.
>>97307677>>97307683>>97307687so you never had that phase when first starting out when you stripped youre models and repainted them every few years when you became better at painting ant they started to look like assor never purchased second hand models only to find out they had been put together by 8 year old and basically unsalvageablenot trying to pick a fight here just saying you never know
>>97307712No, I still have my childhood paint jobs. They're a fun reminder.
>>97307712>so you never had that phase when first starting out when you stripped youre models and repainted them every few years when you became better at painting ant they started to look like assYes, then I wised up, realized it's retarded, and decided not to strip/repaint anything until I paint my whole backlog. I have a large backlog.>or never purchased second hand models only to find out they had been put together by 8 year old and basically unsalvageableNo? I never buy used minis sight unseen. And I don't see why I should care and deliberately compromise on build quality, which WILL directly impact my enjoyment of the finished product, so that maybe, possibly, in some theoretical future timeline, some random online asshole is not inconvenienced in ruining it.

>>97307644What even is push fit? Like it snaps in place? All my models l have to glue and have numbered parts.
>>97308532Yeah push fit is when the pieces have pins and tight fitting holes so you can (in theory) just push them together and they'll stay together from the tightness of the pin fit, as opposed to older models where you'd have ball joints, flat surfaces or maybe a loose fit protrusion and would absolutely need glue to hold it together. Many push fit connections are too tight to get a good fit on though so a lot of people cut the pins down/off and glue them anyway.
>>97308532Yes, they are models that have pins and holes that allow you to put them together without a need for glue. Downside is, they're completely monopose because of it, no customization unless you convert them.
>>97308638>Many push fit connections are too tight to get a good fit on thoughOh good, I had to trim all the pegs and I was wondering if this was a production fault or just me being retarded.
