Hey fa/tg/uys of Age of Sigmar, has anyone ever had to contact GW before about their being incorrect models in a box? I got an old "Let's start collecting" box and its missing one model listed, but has extra of another which seems like a weird packaging error

They want to track stuff but more importantly they should want to SELL stuff. Allowing grand alliances to matter again and let people take random units or characters in other armies would encourage more people to buy one offs. This drives sales for both casual and competetive players, and letting people try out small groups of or individual units from other factions would probably convince more people to get more armies. I don't care if they want to limit it to single units, or cap it by points but they could do almost anything else and it would be better than regiments of renown.
>>
>>97306206
It's actually crazy to not want cross pollination between factions and even games. It's so much easier to convert a buyer into a repeat customer with the whole, "I bought a plague pack for my nurgle and now I want to try some more plague monk schemes" and you're slowly assembling a second army
>>
>>97306206
How New Are You?

Unfettered alliances led to the worst era of 40K and several of the worst sub-eras.
>>
>>97306206
>>97306308
I see the armchair business analysts are out in force today. I would remind you of regiments of renown... but let's face it, those don't allow you to take just whatever you want and as so obviously they're fail and stupid and poopoo like all rules that you have to follow.

RoR are garbage. Grand Alliance armies should still be a thing. Especially in order where you still have Cities that are under the domain of one of the other factions. Just make it so that allies have to be <50% of your total army list, and you still have to make them into regiments. arguing that this messes with balance is fucking dumb and meaningless anyway. Anyone trying to play this as a competitive game is a moron. How many armies are stuck with only half their units still? I wouldn't care nearly as much if it was old GW, and they were putting out statlines for models that didn't exist yet, but apparently that's illegal.
>>
>>97306319
>unfettered
again, they could limit it by points, single units, rule restrictions, etc. There's a million better ways to write the rules that let people take multiple than regiments of renown.

>>97306333
>if people can use a model for more than one thing, they're more likely to buy it
a shocking concept I know
>I would remind you of regiments of renown.
Oh hell yeah dude, I love having a single option to take from another faction and literally nothing else. Often times those regiments are moronically put together too. Why the fuck do I have to take two sharks? They sell the things one to a box but you need two for the regiment of renown.
>but you can take one
yeah and your still paying 300 fucking points for it, regiments of renown are trash.

yeah the brain rats are a really goofy but fun idea (they're also a weak point to shoot at in vermintide 2)
i haven't seen a kitbash conversion with them inside the stomach a la krang but that's partially because the sprues for the brain rats have them split in 3 parts on the back part, so it's really hard to get the model by itself

I actually enjoy playing games hyper competitively, but I am also allow to have opinions on a meta game while also chasing it. Believe it or not, even people who enjoy working within a constrained system can have feelings about it. Be a grown up and engage with the people you talk to here, don't reduce them to strawmen to belittle. This is a small, cozy board.

Sadly, Warcry is a phenomenal game. We still play weekly fun games and have monthly events. We absolutely love it.
>>
>>97306946
By all accounts warcry was very popular, I wonder if GW will really let it die off just because the lead designer left
>>
>>97304147
I dunno about everyone else but I hope it sticks around. For the same price as a character nowadays you get a whole warband of them. We talked about it in the previous thread but the crimson court is 4 vampire lords for the price of 1. Even warbands that are mostly 'normal units' like in the early days are still great, zarbags gitz gives you a shaman, loonboss, and a couple of alt sculpts for shootas etc.
Only downside is no customization ofc, but honestly that's basically the norm for character models nowadays anyway (unfortunately).
>>
>>97306982
Everyone I know who has played it loves it. Have gotten some of the Necromunda crew into it too.
It's like a nice pallette cleanser as it's such a quick, simples, yet still enjoyable game.

IF it is dead, we will still keep playing. Just means we might have to make some more custom terrain sets and maybe even custom missions
>>
>>97306851
i love gorgon medusa
>>
>>97306982
>>97306998
I can imagine a lot of people playing warcry with the aos models they already have, rather than buying the bespoke model sets which support that specific side game's finances. But yeah it seems very well-liked by people who played it, and every gw reveal stream there's a ton of people in chat clamoring for it.
Didn't kill team get rid of the option to play with custom-built warbands or something like that?
>>
>>97306998
Doesn’t it have a compendium that lets you use all models (released at the time) for the system? I figured that was a sign the game was on the way out, but Chorfs getting rules was a surprise.
>>
>>97307028
Kill Team still has the option to use the 40k models compatible with the team in Kill Team, but the custom warband option isn’t in the game.

So like Night Lords from 40k the worst criminals were turned into Space Marines.
>>
>>97307098
Aren't space marines essentially child soldiers?
>>
>>97307080
Seasons are pretty standard for TCG games, but in practice a card game is much easier to produce new cards and have them playable versus a group of models, I can see them reworking it.
>>
>>97307119
Depends on the chapter/legion, but child soldiers are the easiest to convert to Astartes so they make up the bulk.

>Ah, 'tis true, there are blighted lords even more notorious than I, Admiral Spume. It pays to know your rivals, yer see. They are the truly blessed, whether they deserve it or not. I'd warrant they'd not know their keel from their prow, mind you, and let them muster a fleet of plague galleons if they're so mighty!

>All right, let me tell you of the Maggoth Lords first. Again, there are three, each mounted atop a formidable, disease-dripping beast whose appearance has turned the stoutest of stomachs. This unholy trinity is more kith than kin, and all are rivals. Together, though... well, they'd make even the halls of the Hammer God quiver. I'd wager Orghotts is considered the warmaster and believes himself above the other two. 'Tis claimed he has daemon's blood in him, and he certainly acts like he's ascended, the cur. The others are uncanny even for our kind, for Bloab is more fly than flesh and Morbidex has a fondness for the little implings of the Garden – he even resembles the mischievous mites! Regardless, the Maggoth Lords are vaunted by the Grandfather, even more so than I, if you can believe such a thing.

>There's one triad among the mortal throngs that enjoys even greater favour from our repugnant patron: Ghurk, a hulking abomination upon whom ride Otto and Ethrac, a pair of plague-feted champions. This triumvirate is known as the Glottkin or the Brothers Glott. Revered, they are, for none are so well regarded by the Grandfather. These three sit atop the rotting corpse-pile: a general, a sorcerer and a behemoth in one. Or so the rumours say. there are none among the Rotbringers who rank as highly as they do. Even I dare not challenge them yet – though if you so much as whisper that to anyone, I will have yer tongue and more besides.
>>
>>97307454
>Then there's the Leechlord. Old Festus, he's a curious one. The foul doctor has slipped his mortal flesh; he's daemonkind now, a reward for his service. Though he has his followers for certain, Festus has never been one for dominance. He has his work and that's enough. Grandfather has a plan for the doctor, of that I am sure. You mark me, not for Festus is the role of mere overlord. He's partly of the Garden now, with all the knowledge that implies. Once, I might have considered him almost my equal, and I'm sure we'll soon be peers again. Who can say what wonders he will unleash and what fresh pestilence he will wreak?

>Gelgus Pust, former abbot and self-proclaimed Prince of Sores, lurks in the lands of Aquia on the eastern reaches of the Everspring Swathe, over in Ghyran. Swollen by the power of ascension, you only have to look at him to see the amount of blessings he's received from the Grandfather. Pust rose to daemonhood by contaminating the freshwater veins that ccoarse through Aquia, turning them into filthy rivulets in order to further the Plague Lord's reach. I've heard tell, however, that not every source he's tried to befoul has succumbed to his influence. One particularly sacred fount, the fabled Everspring, remains pure. Pust is most eager to desecrate it, and he bends his will towards spreading corruption throughout all of Aquia in an effort to see it fall. 'Course, I'd have got the job done by now, if it had been down to me.
>>
>>97307455
>Ah, the Cystwitch. She's a beautiful horror and no mistake. An erstwhile cleric of an old holy order, it's said that Belga turned her back on all that to follow the threads of power. Old Grandfather heeded her prayers, it seems – he does like a sullen soul. It changed her, of course, and it changed those she once called her sisters. The three became as one, all that tainted flesh combined, though Belga dominates. More grub than human, she's Pust's creature now, his seer and priestess. It's Belga who gathers teh tainted ingredients with which to blight the Aquian waters, but like her master, she has yet to find a concoction that will overwhelm the Everspring and turn its purity to rot. Even though she serves Pust devotedly, Belga has been seen venturing out in the western lands of the Everspring Swathe, burrowing deep into Thyria and beyond. She spreads her filth every which way. Who knows where she'll emerge next?

>Hard are the beastfolk, though they are seldom to be trusted. They have their own ways and succumb to wild urges that makes them unpredictable but zealous. Foulhoof, a shamang among their kind, leads his braying flock in the worship of the Grandfather as the primordial Father Blight. Ah, the many and munificent guises of our pestilential lord and master. They are defilers all, Nurgle bless their fly-bitten hides, and Foulhoof is the worst of them. He reveres the Prince of Sores as if Pust was Nurgle himself, and he serves him as a willing henchman. Foulhoof hates anything pure and anything clean, and he has taken to tainting the lands of the Swathe with savage abandon. But he's no mindless beast, despite all appearances to the contrary. Through bloody sacrifice and primal ritual, the shaman managed to corrupt an arcane henge of the wretched Everqueen and brought forth the fabled Cankerborn from the Garden. Pretty impressive.

Get fucked. What's stopping you from taking a random mish mash of crap in your epic casual narrative games? Do it, no one will care. I'm glad there are some sort of guard rails on that shit in matched play. Frankly I like seeing armies play AS THEIR OWN ARMY and not mostly random shit (that 99% of the time just so happens to cover a weakness designed into the army, or is spam of the best unit at the moment).
I just can't take fags arguing for that sort of shit seriously, especially when they say 'well it's not a competitive game.' cool then why do any of the rules matter to you? If you aren't trying to play 'competitive' aren't you just doing your own thing anyway?

Half of your army shouldn't be another army
>>
>>97307587
> Your own army spams it's best unit
That has been GW 'strategy' for its mainline games literally forever. But it at least keeps units of that army. The stupid shit you describe leads to units being better outside of their own army or catching strays because of a combo with shit from outside their book which penalizes people trying to play their own book as intended
And you still avoid my main point: if you don't think this game should be 'competitive' what is stopping you for doing that in your own games in your local group? Why do you care about any restriction GW writes? Go do your own thing
>>
>>97307593
Regiments of renown are basically already that last I checked, on average they cost somewhere upwards of 600 points unless its one of the grotmas ones.
>>
On the topic of allied units, I find it very frustrating that 4e's system of structuring its listbuilding along the lines of regiments should be very easy to adapt for incorporating allies in an army, but the system isn't used that way at all.

>>97307608

That implies that the warbands themselves sold less because people played their AoS figures in Warcry. I don't know how true that is, I think people generally looked forward to their factions getting warbands and a lot of AoS players picked up the sculpts, or at least it seems that way.

WHF wank is always puzzling, especially now that they basically don't care and about them at all. Played AoS in 2nd(?) edition, 4-5 years ago, with some StD. Played 40k between then and now, but games of 40k take so damn long, and I have a kid now (not old enough to paint/play yet) so fucking off for 4 hours with randos at the FLGS (if my one friend who plays isn't free), for an experience that might not be fun, isn't really in the cards.

Religions will have civil wars over which side of a rug you sit on or weather a priest is allowed to wear linen

I'm sure, between gorkamorka, the maw and the everwinter they can find some petty nuance for ogres to start a religious war over
>>
>>97309594
according to the leaker the plot is:
>As the Hour of Ruin dawned, the Ogors were ruthlessly slaughtered by the Skaven, suffering repeated and grievous defeats. How could such frail, meagre beings overcome the Ogors’ hulking might?

>The Shaman fell into a brooding silence. Why did the Gulping God permit this carnage to befall his children?

>Thus began the Shaman’s pilgrimage.

>He ventured deep into Shyish, passing into the Ogors’ Underworld. There, he beheld a cyclopean abyss—a burial place of the Ogors’ most ancient secrets, a truth hauled from the Aetheric Void, an all-devouring eternal presence from that starless expanse… something unnameable!

>Gorkamorka is but a lie!

>Madness seized the Shaman.

>Returning to his homeland, he came upon the daughter of Globb Glittermaw—a female Tyrant astride a Huge Monster. This formidable Tyrant had defeated and devoured Globb Glittermaw herself. The now-deranged Shaman proclaimed her the new Overtyrant, the chosen of the True Gulping God!

>Through mutual alliance with the new Overtyrant, the Shaman has secured a sacred monopoly over the faith and canonical authority of the Gulping God, and has promulgated the sacred tenets of the True Gulping God.

>Gunpowder? Cowardice! The Leadbelchers—too fearful to close in and feast upon their foes!

>Soon, masses of Leadbelchers were driven from the Big Mawtribe.

>Hirelings? Folly! The Maneaters—led by their stomachs, fools all!

>Then, the Maneaters too were cast out from the Big Mawtribe. Yet unlike the Leadbelchers, a grizzled and formidable veteran rose as their leader—a legendary Maneater who had fought under Tahlia, her entire right half rebuilt into a colossal artillery piece!

For the same reason that 40K is popular. It's not because it's good. It's because it's basically the only game. I can pull out a pile of fantasy indie games, or whatever else that operates better, or offers more freedom. No one else is playing those, because no one is playing them. Everyone just commits to the one game in this already niche hobby. Honestly, I'd rather put together a sort of eternal version of 3rd edition, and only add units, but largely leave the game state itself static while allowing for much more options. But again, I dunno if that's even worth it because people get entrenched in their game. Even when it's bad.

That's half an army for under MSRP. The only "bad" unit in that box is the Leadbelchers which you could realistically make into more Gluttons or even Ironguts.
>>
>>97313220
yes, with the caveat that you should also try to get a box or two of mournfangs and beastriders to go along with it at the same time, because ogre arms and heads and gutplates are interchangable between all the kits, and having the beastclaw and gutbuster stuff at the same time while building means you can mix and match bits for a lot more model variety and cool kitbashes and stuff

Musicians are under advanced rules and Spearhead only uses the simplified, unless you meet a autistic player that cares about wysiwyg you should be fine to build your dudes how you want.

>>
>>97313312
>>97313307
there's no mechanical difference between the saurus weapons. the drum does grant an advantage but its so minor you can basically ignore it and just give him a spear if you want (same for the aggradon lancers if you ever get some of them)

the kroxigor are a bit more particular. there are technically two types of kroxigor, meant to be represented by the difference between the more spikey mace looking weapons and the more pickaxe looking weapons, as well as the head varieties. you can ignore all that and just use whatever bits you want if you only ever plan on using a single type in your list, but if you plan to include both types in the same list, then its more important to be able to distinguish between them. also both types of kroxigor units have a 1 in 3 special weapon (its the orb looking mace), which is more powerful, so you'll want to make sure that is modeled appropriately

for the carnosaur, you have 2 build options for the monster itself, and then 3 build options for the rider. if this is your first one i would highly recommend the oldblood (the saurus leader with the mechanical arm and fancy spear) on the carnosaur, as opposed to the skink oracle on troglodon. its what is used in the spearhead and is also better and easier to use on the table. you can also, if you are clever with your basing, get a free skink priest out of it using the oracle skink rider and a spare base.

here you can kind of see the difference between the two kroxigor types. one is more of an anti infantry lawnmower, while the other is more of a monster hunting unit, but both versions pack so much raw stats that you can use either for either purpose.

and again, if you only ever plan on using one version of them, then you can mix and match the bits to your hearts content, just make sure to model the 1/3 moonstone hammer

Spearhead is a small and fast game mode using that box you have as a predetermined list. It’s a good way to learn the game fundamentals before scaling up to a big army.

I spent a lot of time today fixing my bases and converting my citadel paints to dropper bottles, but I spent like 30 minutes trying to find the skin tone I liked for my stormvermin, and then I spent like another 20 minutes deciding on the armor color, but I managed to at least get some paint on them today
I'm gonna try to finish the storm vermin tomorrow and then eventually get back to the warp lightning cannon

>>97313472
I've spent double digit hours on a single model on multiple occasions. I'm not throwing stones.
>>97313483
In a 4 hour painting session, probably at least an hour of that time will be about deciding which part of the mini to paint next and what colors I want to use. And about 30 minutes might be spent on my laptop either looking for reference pics of the model I'm painting or fucking around on Twitch.
>>
>>97313503
I don't really care how good my clanrats looked so I smashed 20 of those in like 2 hours, but for other stuff I usually go slow , still debating on all the colors for my storm fiends, I'm not sure If I wanna keep the cloth tan like the rest of my skryre colors, since the skin is pretty light
