so i was watching a short talking about some of the new starcraft wargames features, and they talked about two things i thought were interesting.aimed at curbing alpha strikes and mid game scoops, they are respectively doing a fog of war and supply system, which sounds like fog of war reduces ranges or damage early on, and you dont start with your whole army on the table but rather a small fraction of it, and the rest arrives as the game goes on, and then the supply mechanic sounds like it gives you a way to constantly be bringing back units even into the late game so you are pretty much never truly tabled.do you think 40k could benefit from adopting something like that? or would it not suit the larger scale of the games? i know aos's spearhead has something like that supply system with its reinforcement mechanic (some basic troop units can revive in later turns for free), and they also have some mechanics where more powerful units dont come on until the later half of the game, and people seem pretty positive on spearhead.what kind of changes could 40k make to result in less early game blowouts and alpha strikes? because it seems to be something most people universally agree is not fun. everyone i've ever talked to (except hardcore tournament players who are more worried about trying to crunch 8 games in 2 days or whatever and just want their matches over quickly) prefers back and forth closer games where comebacks are possible and nobody scoops on turn 2 or 3

>>97325765This has literally been an entire thing for 10th. I know you probably aren't dialed into 10th that much pretty much all armies can pick up undefeated runs with mass infantry lists. Guard, Admech, Sisters, Agents all do this very well because they have really point efficient infantry options and can just get such an absurd amount of units and board control many armies cant physically displace them from the game. It's a rock paper scissors thing, heavy anti tank lists just don't have the OC or infantry killing power to actually do objectives against 300 infantry bodies against whom overkill damage is wasted.

Like they do work with the Ecclesiarchy but they are still marines, so they are pretty isolationist too.Imo the best way to imagine it is a sliding scale from 1-10.1 being loyalists but they don't work with Ecclesiarchy and probably don't like them that much**10 being basically sisters of battle.If you take a very generic, very average marine chapter, like Ultramarines, they are like 2-3 on that scale. They work with them and are fine with the Ecclesiarchy even if not necesserarily being believers themselves.Black Templars in comparison would probably be around 4-5 or 5-6 on the scale.And this scale works for pretty much all Imperial organizations/factions.**these do exist not every marine chapter views or likes calling the Emperor a god since they don't believe that shit but also still follow the Imperial Truth or a version of it, and for them the "Emperor protects" is just way to make working smoother with other parts of the Imperium.
