Creature pulling it? Loadout?
Chariots are very strong in Fantasy because they are immune to Killing Blows (can't be one shot by a weapon/character/unit with the Killing Blow special rule).Do chariots make you immune to one shot special weapons/situations in AoS too?
I know it's probably not very surprising, but the argent shards seem pretty damn big.>>97494472>tqChariots don't really fit seraphon, but a sort of juggernaut/temple being carried by some dinos could be pretty cool. Sidenote but man 90% of google images when you look up any sort of fantastical concept is now sloppa. Grim.
>>97494536On stream they showed a size comparison with the fatemaster. Yes the shards are hyoodge
>>97494536People wanting to proxy the shards as abstract LoC are vindicated
>>97494472>TQIdoneth could get something similar to the swifthawk chariot but with a manta or something
>>97494511No, immunity to 1 shots was reserved for realy big dudes like Mega Gargants.
>>97494511I think the main gimmick of chariots and the like in aos is that they're (more easily) able to power through and move through hostile units that would usually force them to engage and thus prevent them from moving.>>97494648Kino ideaI've seen a fair few idk chariot conversions around (picrel), it seems like a concept that speaks to people. Gw would rather give them 2 extra characters and a spell though.
>>97494747
>>97494747Why did they shit out only one water temple thing what was the point
>>97494747>>97494764These are coolWhat do you think the Secret Level AoS episode will be about? If they stick with the thing that it has to be connected to a video game we're stuck with Realms of Ruin, and by that Stormcast vs Tzeench/Kruleboys/Nighthaunt.But I hope they are liberal in their connection to games and consider the tabletop to be game enough, and as such have free reigns to do something non stormie focused
>>97494797Basically guaranteed to be Stormcast by mandate. But if has to be them, it’d be cool to see something for Gardus or Tornus.
>>97494797>>97494807i could see gardus or neave desu. I dont know if there is anything for a "current" tie in like skaven were for sigmar's toll.
>>97494789GW's decisions frequently defy any conventional understanding. It's why after a couple of years everyone inevitably throws "what makes sense to do" out the window for their predictions and just go with whatever the rumors are.
>>97494536>Chariots don't really fit seraphonThere are two arguments for seraphon chariots:one of their warrior gods was said to ride on a chariotthe ancient aliens theme they have going on rests on a book literally called chariots of the gods in both cases instead of a normal chariot with wheels and pulled by beasts it would have to be some magitech platform, maybe pulled by podracer engines of some kind, like a melee version of the starseer throne for a saurus champion
>>97494789They didn't have big release sloted for them
fuck IDKfuck the shitty rangefuck the shitty lorefuck the players fuck the new trash modelsfuck the spam listsfuck all of it, I hope it's squatted next edition
>>97494907uh oh melty
>>97494912yes that is correct
>>97494797is it meant to be a secret level thing? I thought it would have been just a random amazon animation or some shit
>>97494878But why make it a temple release it could have been another vanari thing
>>97494952because they have to roll them out eventually and apparently the river temple had a viable enough set of concepts to be turned into a warcry band
>>97494935It's just an episode in the next set of secret levels
>>97494952To not spam redundant units. They had to make temple soldiers anyway
>>97494797realms of ruin had a pretty cool story, it wouldn't be a bad idea to connect to that, even if just loosely>opens with the knights excelsiors purging the settlement, innocents and whatnot, for grimdark>except a few were secretly disciples of tzeentch, so it wasn't in vain, and so they can reuse tzaangors and the summoner to market this to the people who saw the sm2 episode, and drive "[shit] explained" channels to talk about how it does or does not connect with 40k>yndrasta drops in, bringing the attention back to the kruleboys, under gobbsprakk, linking to the one dlc this poor game had>climax of the episode is gobbie summoning kragnos against the stormcasts, we have a few scenes of hype violence, and then kragnos is driven off by some mcguffin (maybe the ratastrophe)>bonus point for the episode starting with yndrasta's reforging and she dying against kragnos so we have a second reforging scene where the price of immortality is underlined, and maybe in the second arching back to azyr we get a panoramic view of the vermindoom over the realmit would be self contained, have 'big' names, a simple plot, and a hook or two for having people talk about it
The OBR chariots won't suck.... right?!?
>>97495134maybe they'll drop enough overlapping buffs to make a kavalos list op
>>97495183This would look way better if there was a fast monster too.
>>97495231?
>>97495270Fuck no, take that named casterfag out of here, if it's not melee centric I don't want to hear it.Unless it can be assembled without a rider and used as generic monstrous hounds for mr.bones's wild hunt.
>>97495098>woman leaderyeah no, nobody wants modern D&D anymore, especially in 40k and failed replacement for Fantasy which JewDubs is trying to force down like the British government trying to put immigrants next to kindergartens.
>TQ>FEC I don't think it would fit, but I wouldn't mind a war wagon/baggage train style derivative. >Gitmob Ranged chariot more like a spear chukka would work. That or an elite shaman, maybe with a crew of lesser shamans riding it like the Gobbapalooza
>>97495361Here's your (you)
>>97495361you just know aos will have to compensate for 40k's marines being all men, so the stormcast in the secret level can only be a woman.the only thing we can hope for is that she's cool instead of the stereotypical girlboss, yndrasta has the potential to be portrayed as a trigger happy psychopathic huntress. There is a chance for that to come out as something genuinely charismatic and fun.But it's a faint chance, I know.
>>97495394For FEC I'm trying to think of a solid alternative to a chariot but everything boils down to basically just a shittier looking black coach. Which funnily enough FEC does technically have "horses" though I wouldn't mind just a massive fuckoff Morbheg nearly terrorgheist with a platform on it's back kinda fitting the chariot bit. But at that point I dunno if it'd still count, since it's just big monster with platform on it's back not a chariot.
Got the last bits traded for, always fun seeing what bullshit you can cobble together on the cheap for armys.
>>97495361>>97495432>failed replacement for FantasyHey now, TOW is flopping pretty hard compared to the successful continuation of Fantasy, Age of Sigmar, but I wouldn't say it failed just yet. They just overestimated how much TWW kiddies were willing to support it compared to actual tabletop gamers (AOS fans).
>>97495183I wish OBR had more freakish units like the centaur guy from the Warcry unit, I also wish the warcry guy was just a hero and not taped to a bunch of random bullshit.
>>97495623He's just Ivory Host Liege Kavalos
>>97495647That would be a pretty easy kitbash, do other ivory host guys have the weird cyclopian bits too in lore?
>>97495664>do other ivory host guys have the weird cyclopian bits too in loreNever mentionrd before. We just know they're in ghur and are unusually animalistic due to shortage of human bones and abundance of beast fosils
>>97495623>random bullshitbodyguards, hounds and hawks, it's just stuff a guy brings to a hunt
>>97495830If he was a singular hero and the randies had individual profiles I wouldn't mind, I'm just not the biggest fan of the weird type of unit where it's a bunch of things on different base sizes
The LRL & DoT battle trait previews have got me feeling hopeful for the rest of the battletomes we're due this edition. It's a nice feeling.
>>97494472>TQI don't see GW giving KO a creature pulled chariot, if they ever get any creatures at all so I would imagine that a KO chariot would probably look like a star wars pod racer. Small cockpit with a baloon pulled by two big turbine engines. The average movement with KO is already 12 inches so it's funny to imagine them putting this thing out with like 3 health, 18 inch move and probably a bombing ability like the big boats already have.
>>97494764>OBR doesn't have a chariot pulled by a bonecentaur wielding two swordswhat a missed opportunity.
>>97496051You’ll get a stagecoach with a Gatling gun on it. Which is something that cos should get but it doesn’t match with husites, and it’s kinda infringing on that thing they have in fantasy I think.
>>97494797>what do you think secret level AoS episode will be about>What I wantOne of the Order factions facing off with FEC, mostly from the FEC perspective>what will actually happenSomething centered around the stormcucks, probably Neave because they need to clear out the warehouse of those shitty models. I'm sure much like the Sigmar's Toll show it's going to feature two characters talking to each other on a boring background explaining background lore for 80% of it befrore we get a short fight scene and some awful stinger from a stormcast about it being the Age of Sigmar™, buy the models now.
I except soulblight to be featured in the animation. I can literally see a vampire in it at least getting a shoutout.
>>97496062Ossiarchs are full of missed opportunities.
>>97494857Man that thing is just awful to look at.Always funny when someone appears to be able to paint but has no idea how to make something look good.
>>97496045As someone getting into Tzeentch, I'm very mixed on it. On one hand, the new fate points are strictly worse than fate dice in almost every way. On the other hand, the ability to swap out units once per turn could be really spicy. No monster limitation means you can't save Kairos but I could still see this being pretty good. Waiting to see the updated battletome and warscrolls to see how good it'll end up being.
>>97495443Yeah... Chariots could fit a sort of hero of olde, Green Knight, kind of thing but despite the Arthurian motifs historically fitting chariots it's the anachronistic application of 14th century aesthetics that don't... So maybe it'd make sense? Idk
>>97496051a podracer would be pretty cool, i'd also settle for bikers toothe army does need some kind of silhouette inbetween infantry and boat though, and it doesnt really have a cavalry equivalent
>>97496085Like a flying stagecoach? KO isn't going to get some grounded thing with wheels, don't be ridiculous.
>>97496157it looks cool as fuck, your taste is just shit
>>97496157It's way too much, I agree.
>>97494857>one of their warrior godsSo you don't know shit about seraphon
>>97494857Necrons and Seraphon have nothing in common that was a bizarre choice, this doesn't mesh together at all
>>97494536>Chariots don't really fit seraphon, but a sort of juggernaut/temple being carried by some dinos could be pretty cool.I wouldn't want to see them get real chariots, but ya a giant Old One artifact/mobile temple would be sick. Like a giant version of an Engine of the Gods or a mini pyramid towed by a couple of mid size dinos.
>>97496051If its a podracer, then it should also have a special rule that when it does it moves X amount of inches in one direction and deals damage to everything it passes through (with the movement immediately ending if it passes through a terrain feature or monster, dealing extra damage to that.)
>>97496998Have a quartet of kroxigors carrying something arcane on a palinquin.
>>97494472>If your army would get a/another chariot, what would it look like? Creature pulling it? Loadout?SCE: Already has one. I guess theoretically they could get a heavier one, more melee-focused, maybe pulled by some sort of drake-like creature.COS: Probably just a wood & wrought-iron thing pulled by horses, but I think if they do end up bringing in halflings, a small chariot pulled by, like, war-roosters and crewed by halfling archers would be fun.OWC: Mostly play Kruleboyz and chariots are sort of antithetical to swamp warfare. It'd probably be a model for Ironjawz and would be some hulking, ramshackle thing pulled by pigs, designed more for slamming directly into the enemy. Skaven: RAT CHARIOT WITH LIGHTNING GUN
>>97497092You say chairots are antithetical to swamp warfare, but the britons were notorious for being the last group of peoples in the west to use the damn things. It could also be designed to work on softer ground, so something a bit more like a dogsled or airboat, slides on the ground rather than rolls.
>>97497129Swamp skiff for kruleboyz. With a repeating ballista bolted on top.
Always strange to see that some people dont understand that OBR is a disciplined military first and a freakshow second.
>>97497494Like a bunch of rednecks in a hovercraft tearing through the swamps and shooting feral hogs with a shotgun.
>>97497129True, but the Britons mostly used their chariots on open ground. Plus, the swamps the Kruleboyz are in are less like the humid marshes of Britain and seem more like the thick swamps & bayous of the American Gulf Coast.
>>97496051>>97496183I've said it before and I'll say it again: KO combat jetskis(Cool art anon)Now that I think about it someone at gw made a kharadron "chariot" kitbash for one of their racing articles.
>>97494472>If your army would get a/another chariot, what would it look like? Creature pulling it? Loadout?I don't think DoK should get a chariot. The roster has no need for something like that, and lorewise it doesnt make sense. The Khainites love getting into battle and reveling in the blood of their enemies, a chariot defeats that purpose.
>>97496965no u
>>97497760Hence why I suggested a sled/hovercraft like alternative. More evenly distributed weight so it can slide on soft ground and float on water if need be. Lets them outmanuver their enemies even more effectively in the swampy terrain, and can be used to transport people they capture.
>>97497835Honestly, I think that they should just add all the neat white dwarf/warcom mini game modes to the core rulebook. Just extra shit for you to do with your minis. Kill team in 40k used to be like that, before they killed it/brought it back as its own thing.
>>97498003the white dwarf is handled by a different team compared to the one that handles rulebooks writingit's a terrible system
>>97497677And a grot operating a rotating magazine for the ballista, like a primitive gatling gun. Not terribly accurate or long range, but the kruleboyz don't care because it shoots lots and they don't really have to do much except sit back and perforate gits.
>>97497092kruleboys already have a chariot
>>97498104Honestly a pretty ""elegant"" solution for the swamp problem. Terrain too unsuitable for a chariot? Just put it on a swampbeast lol.
>>97496098>explaining lore Warhammer (any version of it) is at it's best when nothing is explained and they just let visuals do the talking. Why is this guy in power armor carrying a coffin and shooting at a statue? Why are these ghost attacking elves on dinosaurs? Why are these Renaissance dudes fighting goblins riding wolves? Why is this ork playing football against a dwarf? Who cares just enjoy the ride you can spend hours looking up wikis later.
>>97498178there's a difference between the visuals being sufficient and there being no other worldbuilding.do you need someone to tell you that dwarf runes are magic? nois it cool to know why they use runes and how they're different? yes
New points and stuff

>>97498343But their mounts is nearly identical to marines (sigmarines and archaonmarines).
>>97498347Wood elves are lame.
>>97495361I want woman leader
>>97498347The Wanderers no longer have stats in 4th. We have no Wood Elves in AoS right now.Kurnothi have awesome lore.I've loved all their models thus far.I will never play WFB.
>>97498357>What if it's a kurnothi chariotbased
>troggoth skin keeps regenerating on its own after being flayed and worked into clothingThat's kinda neat.
>>97497856Nah, they have archers for crying out loud, if they're OK with the blood being an arrow's flight away, they'd love stabbing people with spears from a chariot. They could do something really fun where the chariot is pulled by other DoKs. Like, maybe a new kind of Scathborn that's bigger and stronger and used for stuff like that, or just a crew of regular Aelves who are punished by running into battle but only so their Sisters can reap the blood and glory
>>97498191Damn this is pretty restrictive.
>>97498380>Kurnothi have awesome lore.lol
>>97498348It's the wheels that don't screen Sylvaneth to me. Maybe something that fills the chariot role but is actually just a big beetle with a crew on it?>>97498357>What if it's a kurnothi chariotThat would be extremely good. I lost faith in the Kurnoth release when all the rumor engines turned out to be for Darkwater, but hope springs eternal I guess
>>97498380This has the energy of someone saying they want to play Space Marines, saying Stormcast Eternals are not Space Marines, and swearing to never play 40k. Like dude they're right there.

>>97494789Model kit production allocation does not necessarily line up with needs or even wants of factions. Nobody likes fyerslayers so no units, everyone likes vampires so 10 new soulblight things. >>97498406>aping items directly from TOW Lmao why is the AoS team pivoting so hard into trying to be Fantasy AFTER Fantasy relaunched?
>>97499366I've had a couple, a story of enslaved duardain brothers fighting for their survival in the all points, A story of a bounty hunter trying to make sense of ghur, an exploration of a dude whose been reincarnated into shyish and exploring other lost souls. Many years ago, this thread created a part of a realm where everyone with yourdudes got to add their kingdom/camp/country/warband/region etc. And we did some common worldbuilding around it. What happened to that? And also, anyone up for trying something like that again? Was a very cozy part of /aosg/ whilst it was active

Your saves are useless, but when a model has 4 Wounds and you can heal them often (Feast on Flesh, Greedy Gluttons formation, and Spells/Mawpot)Gluttons and Ironguts carry the Gutbusters, and you're always going to surprise people with how fast you can be. Ever seen a fat motherfucker run 13", then nail a charge, do 2+ MD, then 50/50 between 20 and 0 dmg? Leadbelchers are cool, but have been useless for shooting. I had a Tyrant and a 4-man Irongut unit cut through about 80% of a Skaven army in 2 rounds with only a 40-man rat brick surviving more than a single fight phase. You basically play a bunch of heat-seeking missiles. You play carefully until you can charge in and 1-shot them because the alternative is rend 1/2 turning you into a bunch of paste. It's honestly a fun army if you don't mind gambling on a 4+ to Hit without support. Pro-tip:>12-man Glutton brick (4 attacks per, +1 for Champion) for 49 hits>Slaughtermaster (Great Cauldron - Spinemarrow for +1 Attacks on unit of choice)>Cast Bloodfeast on Gluttons (+1 Attacks)>nuke something with 12 fat retards swinging 73 times because they're R1, D2

Thinking about starting Lumineth, seeing as apparently they finally stopped phoning in battletomes two years into the edition. Had two quick questions for anyone who plays them. The first question being, how much of a hassle are the wardens and their big ass pikes to deal with on the table? Second question is... how much pain, and how much time am I looking at, getting 2K points of competently painted elves on the table?
>>97503102Wardens are a hassle, so I suggest a magnetic case for transport. They are a time consuming to paint as you want them to be. If you do contrast + mteallics its not that hard for example.

>>97499366A young wizard leaves the city of their birth as part of a Crusade, and learns about the Realm and themself as along their years long journey. Entirely on one Realm, pretty episodic as the crusade encounters new foes and situations but with recurring characters. Like, their rout coincidentally ends up alongside that of a warband of Slaaneshi Godseekers so they regularly cross paths and fight and the wizard and their Lord of Pain become nemeses. There's a Mega-Gargant who shows up from time to time, sometimes as an enemy, sometimes as a friend, sometimes as just a complication. Stormcast are mentioned but never seen, or only seen from afar as they do their weird god-give missions. Lots of focus on the day to day life of the Crusaders and the peculiarities of the Realm they are in. There's a nice slowburn romance between the wizard and a Freeguild Sergeant at Arms. That kinda thing
>>97499780anon there is a middle ground between "I never want to see a woman" and whatever dyed hair strawman you have in your mind.
>>97503650I know it's how UW warbands work in AoS, they're always named characters even though that's stupid and dumb, but if the three centaurs had just been a regular unit for Sylvaneth I would have bought three
>>97503646The fungal stuff is the whole gimmick, they're diseased. If you take the fungus away, they're a pretty acceptable AoSifying of the Dryad. It takes the design and just brings it in line with the modern Sylvaneth range. It's how they're depicted in recent art too. So I'd bet that we are getting a new Dryad kit alongside their Battletome this edition. Hopefully with something else a bit more exciting.

Also in one of the hallowed knight ones it says at one point there are a dozen hallowed knights left yet that was 2 books ago at this point and about 100 have died in their retreat across some ice with the Slvaneth why is it so inconsistent?

>>97507740Onto the pile it goes.>>97507762Hey, give that back. It's mine.
I mostly like what I'm seeing in DoT but it annoys me more than a little bit that Kairics lost both their ranged attacks and spellcasting since 3e and the Scourge of Ghyran variant doesn't amend this.
>>97507789I didn't take it, the damn thing is stinking up the whole room!
>>97507649I don't think there's been a single army whose mechanics have changed so greatly and so frequently as LRLThey're basically just a whole new army that uses the same models every single time another book comes out.
>tzeentch kept the chaos spawn spell LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
With the new foot lord-regent adding 3 dice to rally rolls, there might be some tech here with the bannerblade enabling rally while in combat
>>97507803>Kairics lost both their ranged attacks and spellcastingThat kills me desire to start DoT. GW really is determined to strip all the ranged shooting from everything. Assholes. They fucked my Fyreslayers over the same way.
>>97507856LRL channel in Coach's discord is actually liking Wardens.
>>97507877I can see why, you can rally them in combat and do 20 "on a 5+ do 1 mortal wound" rolls every single combat phaseSanctum of Amyntok and Shrine Luminors hard protect LRL heroes, requiring your opponent to straight up kill the manifestation/terrain piece to even begin touching them. A scinari enlightener is VERY safe against anything that doesn't have some really dedicated shooting.
>>97507803Kairos also lost it, I can understand why for him, I havent seen the kairircs whole profile yet to internalize why though.
>>97507803It's basically the same as in the faction pack, maybe some number was tweaked. But compared to the 3e scroll they lost some abilities including their signature spell and their ward save, on top of having no ranged attack. On the whole I still think I like the look of the 4e army rules, it's just me who's peeved that things don't stay the same.
>>97507960I was seeing talk about these guys being your "deepstrike" bait with how quickly you can get FP. Run them wherever you need them and then swap out for the correct unit. The Tzeentch heroes have a lot of sauce, though.
>>97507960I really would have liked to at least see the vulcarch ability there. Im sure the army has enough control already with the new argents and then some, but still. Having these dudes be annoying would have been fun. I guess I should be happy they have rend now. I guess.
how many kits of argent shards am I gonna want? Is it just the one?
>>97507973>the vulcarch abilityThe SoG warscroll has it so there's that.
A bit less of a combat monster but the reaction ability is funny. Although it would be funnier if it was any declaration of a spellcasting ability, not just an opponent's.
