In the invasion era, would Jade Falcon have access to Atlas II mechs? Also do Falcon warriors carry katanas like Elizabeth Hazen did?

Posting early in this thread, but we should replace the MUL in the OP with MekBay instead. https://mekbay.com/?gs=cbt
>>97656294We should replace the dead links. MUL is still useful as an official reference.
>>97656311Useful how? it's force lists have errors, no record sheets and its optimization sucks.Mekbay is just better.
>>97656254Eventually though, this Thud alone is going to be over 70 hours of just printing, not counting the pilot in resin or that huge hex base which I might need to order more filament to do.

>>97656349To laugh at>>97656363>huge hex baseFucking hell anon thought you were kidding about playing the supersized games. Really going to try it?
>>97656399So? It has errors, it's wrong. So those campaigns are wrong.

>>97656407Also, I'm not gluing it to the base, I'm just going to stand it on the base on the shelf, the pics I've seen of those large scale games don't use hex bases, It's just going to be a nice detail to decorate the big hex at 28/32mm scale, which the pilot seems to be after sizing her by eye.
First pick up game tonight after finding a store that plays closer to me. Only have played aces so far so looking forward to playing people. It’s 200PV and they didn’t say what era so I tried to make two late succ war lances out of what I have painted so far. Can any anons offer advice for a first game and/or playing this force?

>>97656412Pro tip: basic tiling on squares is technically a hexgrid
>>97656872>advice for a first game and/or playing this force?Pick an enemy unit, run up on him, delete him with focused fire, repeat with another enemy unit in next turn. Keep your dudes with similar effective rangebands together. Try to position your mechs with a clear LOS to your selected victim while putting LOS blocking terrain between your force and his other units. Getting an early kill will shift momentum in your favor, so choose your first victim based on how many of your units you think you can manage to bring him under fire with as soon as possible. Don't worry about keeping your force completely intact, accept that you will take damage and lose units. Decide what is a good trade if you have to, and tempt your enemy into splitting fire by making less valuable units easier targets while your heavy hitters are all mugging one of his dudes as a group.Be responsive to changes in the tactical situation but do your best to stay on task and don't keep shifting your priorities because at that pount you're just reacting to your opponent and giving him control of the situation. Pay attention to what your opponents do and steal any good ideas they have that worked against you.And don't forget to relax and have fun.
>>97656965Every tv is a computer monitor now
>>97657236Sounds good anon, will apply this advice and hopefully play a decent match.
>>97657309Every TV is a Telescreen.Big Epstein is watching you.
>>97657309I used to have a multiple monitor setup, but I've come to be of the opinion that it's wastefully excessive, I can only be looking at one at a time.
>>97656872Pray you arent going to run into clans and it really is SUCC wars. A tmm2 heavy list would outtrade you. That being said you have the points, id trade that flea out for the FWL FLE-14 that way you have a pair of light chickens moving closer in speed. You cant afford to have something so fragile with only tmm2 it will get killed if anyone glances at it.
>>97656872>Can any anons offer advice for a first game and/or playing this force?Play a better game. Alpha Strike is shit and the people who play it should have remained filtered. That's a perfectly viable force for regular Battletech. Play that instead. Then you'll be welcome back to post here.
More pieces printed and cleaned up, another 12 hours or so and I should be able to assemble the legs and clip the torso halves together so I can put filler in the join line. Maybe tomorrow evening I can assemble the whole thing and prime it.
>>97658090Are you people ever planning on getting over the shit between AS and BT fucking 10 years ago? Nobody's planning on replacing BT anymore. Can't you let AS fans have their own game that just happens to be better, faster, and more popular, than yours?
>>97658139AS will always be a shitty ripoff meant to break the gate for 40kiddies, it will never become acceptable and you will always be given shit for playing it, if you like 40k stick to that, if you like Battletech play Battletech.Figure it out.

>>97658139AS is objectively worse than the other three quick play systems of the Battletech franchise.
>>97658208>people who like it shouldn't be here. This exclusion is literally in the thread name, this is the Battletech General, AS is not Battletech, they're two different games under the same IP, much like Kill Team and 40k get different generals, and each edition of D&D gets a different general, etc... the two do not belong together. But for some reason ASsfags think they should be here, same with all the mechwarrior vidya faggots who don't get that this isn't even the right fucking BOARD for their shit. This is a general for BechP related tabletop games, not the RG, not any of the many videogames, just fucking BATTLETECH.Nothing in the OP posts has ever invited any of that other off-topic bullshit.
>>97657364Pls dont, guy above is tryhard competitive retard. This game is fat better if you fo pew pew sounds and goof around with stompy robots. Also write lore about your mech/pilots so it will dictate how you play match. If you play against clans don't dare to refuse his batchall.

>>97659351According to art, yes, with mechs such as the Commando and No-Dachi being shown with obviously turned heads (although the Commando was misinterpreted by later artists as having a jauntily tilted helmet and beady round eye where the original art with the turned head had a visor style window with a protruding "ear"). Ruleswise, no, unless you use a torso cockpit and battlemech head turret.

>>97659479Which is the backside of this. I actually kind of want this in 3d. It's pretty cool.
I'm sure Grayson Carlyle and the Bounty Hunter have jaunty adventures across the inner sphere, but I cannot bring myself to care about most of the story and metaplot in BT. It's like the opposite of warhammer where I realized I sisn't like playing that game but liked all the fluff, I love playing battletech but half the stories put me to sleep
>>97659351I would like to add that there is more "classic" art of true humanoid mechs showing that they can move their heads than there are showing the opposite. 3D renders of PGI designs don't count because they are deliberately designed with fixed unmoving heads. If it looks like it has a neck then it probably can move.

>>97659579They are not laissez-faire frontier cowbows as some portray them but communists of the highest order
>>97659579They're based in a way that appeals to a certain amount of people. They're a militarized people with a fortress mentality that isn't helped by the rampant fearmongering of their government to justify just that little bit more defence spending. On the other hand, they've been proven RIGHT multiple times and while they eventually got their shit kicked in by arguably the greatest army the Inner Sphere has ever seen, they also put up the best fight and gave way harder than they got. The Taurian lore is pretty fucking great, but you get a lot of people ignoring the bad while focusing on the good. The downside of a LOT of this shit is that they're a shrinking state. They keep losing ground one way or another and that their society is eating itself slowly, which isn't helping at all. The intense government driven paranoia about getting invaded is absolutely pervasive through their entire society and isn't great.I don't know why the fuck people keep comparing them to space Texas, they're Space North Korea.
>>97659662I see, you can't address the argument because it's watertight, so all you can do is strawman.
>>97659651With the four of you playing relatively similar force sizes it might have been wise to use "formation movement", that is to move units in lance groups. With that said, glad to see that you enjoyed yourself
>>97659651Staged, fake and gay.
>>97659651Looks like fun. I'd love to get something like that going IRL for me.

>>97659667wtf I LOVE the cows now
>>97659676It probably would have been a good way to play it. I tried to have some semblance of that with the little impromptu fire group on the hill just to keep it a little faster on my end.

>>97659736I accept your concession.
>>97659736
I play both. Actually played more classic this year than AS. Heres a game. Played Op for against some newer players Mercs on campaign. I cooked too hard with the list and put 50% of his forces into withdrawal before he could touch the center building, so he opted to destroy it and retreat, technically a draw. Need to make rubble bases so its not chopped carpet tile.
>>97659781>losing the match >blows up the objective and leaves Glad to see you are bringing them up right anon.
>>97659789I was a bit miffed but the Scenario designer didn't harden the building sufficiently so tactically it was an option.
>>97658236>guy above is tryhard competitiveNegative. I am as casual as they come. But if you're playing a wargame you should still try to win, even if you don't care if you lose. I don't even play AS unless I have to, mostly BECAUSE the game encourages the play I described. There is little nuance to it, it's just 95% roll more dice than your opponent, so you have to move aggressively as units or you're just "flipping coins" in duels, which isn't fun. AS is best as a company scale maneuver game, which fits with the advice I gave. The advice I WANTED to give was, "play Classic instead" but that would have been as helpful as saying "just do pew pew sounds and goof around with stompy robots." I mean, we're all doing that anyway, right?

Would you consider the power level of an average clan medium roughly on par with an IS heavy or lower?
>>97660108Yes.
>>97660108Clan light against introtech. An Adder has a good chance of outmaneuvering and outlasting a basic Warhammer.
>>97660173>nah man you see two ER PPCs on a stick that runs twice the speed of a mek and outranges it is a good frame of comparisonComparing weight classes generally doesn't work, but especially if you do it like you are doing.
>>97657093Yup its out.
>>97660173Clan lights (lights in general, really) are very fragile, though, so even though they can have more firepower than IS heavies they're also glass cannons. Adder is also somewhat of an outlier, in that most other Clan lights don't carry double cERPPCs, but are faster and usually have configurations built around close-range fighting.I think in mos cases low-end Clan mediums compare better to IS heavies.
>>97660205>>97660345The Warhammer is fragile for its weight, the Adder has max armor for its weight class. The latter takes less damage due to higher movement, the former takes more shots. Both have heat problems with their main guns due to insufficient sinks, though the Adder really suffers from spending weight on the computer. It all balances out the power level.
>>97659667They also get their asses kicked by catgirl hedonists on the regular. Great at defense, but offense so bad they need nukes to be taken seriously.

>>97659667Blame Tex for the Space Texas meme. I would not call them Space North Korea though, they are nowhere near that batshit insane. They were expanding and far more interesting during the late succession wars and clan invasion period but then the writers sort of gave up on doing anything meaningful with them so wrote them as a bunch of tards who sit around playing video games going on how great they used to be and blaming everyone else for their problems while refusing to do anything to solve said problems. If anything they are a bunch of Space Dwarfs. >>97660474Rampage and frankly anything with a flamer.

Almost done, one more long print for arm pieces and a short one for connectors and joints.
>>97661251Cool.
>>97661392What's really cool is that so far no glue has been necessary, everything fits together tight enough to just snap fit, the pieces that are supposed to rotate do so but just stiffly enough I can pose it and not have to hold it up to keep that pose.I will glue the torso halves so I can fill that gap, and the hip/shoulder shields will need gluing, but that's it.
>>97659667They're not really at North Korean levels of insane, and there's a bunch of other aspects of their society that don't really synergize with the comparison either. They're more in the realm of Space Poland or Space Finland, with the FedSuns being their Russia.
>>97661426>North Korean levels of insaneNever forget that everything you "know" about North Korea is propaganda produced by their enemies. I've never been there, you've never been there, we don't actually have a clue. The only real precedent we have for something like their reputation is the things taught about WW2 Germany and many of us know from individual research later in life, much of that ranges from merely untrue to absurdly false.
Mates want to play an RPG campaign in which they play a group of ComStar characters, era matters not unless it's fun. I'm thinking of basing it during the height of the Jihad and make them part of a Explorer Corps fleet that's been operating deep, deeeeep in the Periphery and has no knowledge of the galaxy consuming war being fought throughout the Inner Sphere. They've been experiencing problems with their HPGs lately and upon returning to a ComStar facility on the edge of documented space they find it under siege by the WoB and are immediately hurled into horrors of the Jihad. That's the start. No clue where to go from there lmfao
>>97661708>no knowledge of the galaxy consuming warFTL communications, mobile HPG modules. Comstar wouldn't be Comstar without it.

>>97663207I think I would give it to Bear just because claws suck. Although he does have way more ammo in way more places, so he's more susceptible to Sudden Onset Crusaderitis Ksyndrome. Crael has so little SRM ammo that 4 rounds of alpha striking will deplete them, leaving him with just the traditional CT MG bomb. Not that you'd want to do 4 rounds in a row anyway, since he doesn't have great heat sinkage and will start to accumulate penalties by the second round. If Bear uses a ton of his SRMs for infernos, I think it would be even worse for Crael.

>>97664580Jurassic Park is actually a really shitty way to handle large animals. It's part of the plot of the original book, that the people running the place have no real knowledge or interest in keeping animals, so they tried to brute force "amusement park" instead of "zoo" and had very pisspoor enrichment or care, doing stuff like keeping highly intelligent predators in bare enclosures that leave them no other option but to try to break our to stave off boredom, or putting all the herbivores together regardless of which ones might be territorial or just spooked by the others. They even had toxic plants within reach of them purely because it "looks Jurassic", which resulted in the one vet who came to the island basically calling them all retards and then their corner cutting bit everyone in the ass.
>>97664666There are three kinds of infantry, power armored, conventional as presented by Total Warfare, and conventional as presented by Tech Manual (built differently, same rules in play). Conventional infantry are either a non-factor due to being way too slow or dying instantly to a prepared enemy, or are annoying and hard to kill because most guns only get one or two guys out of whole platoons.
>MFW /tg/ are all Taurians at heart
>>97664693So they are just used as a "speed bump"?
>>97664699Regular guys on foot are, yeah. They can be decent ambushers if hidden units are in play, but even "fast" infantry is as slow as the slowest mechs by themselves. They're more useful if you can get them planted on an objective or choke point. They're also really easy to cheese initiative with, since they're very cheap, so common houserules have them all go first or last or get grouped up to keep the total unit count down.
>>97664699>>97664708
>>97664684>Jurassic Park is actually a really shitty way to handle large animals.I mean yeah, but I was talking less tiny enclosures with huge fences and more a network of huge fences setup so you can safely move small numbers of large animals and heavy equipment between corrals...That's what I remembered about the one Beefalo ranch I went to in my youth: Tall fences basically fencing in the paths between the paddocks and using a network of those to corral the animals....It's also how I played Jurassic World Evolution.>>97664708>but even "fast" infantry is as slow as the slowest mechs by themselves.>>97664754Not only that, but I was humbled here when an Anon introduced me to Motorized Infantry: All the Mobility of a Conventional Vehicle with the Durability of Infantry!

>>97666049That seems to be a pretty common sentiment. I and and some of the people I play with tend to go up to Jihad, but very rarely beyond that. Jihad adds some useful tech, like HPPCs and SNPPCs and introduced a bunch of good variants for older mechs that hadn't seen much upgrades since 3050s, but DA mostly just added weird and clunky sidegrade equipment that only have rules in TacOps or IOps and usually aren't worth using anyway (most of the specialist armors are just downgrades compared to standard or ferro-fibrous, and VSPLs are somehow even worse than IS pulse lasers).
>>97666103I will use the Omega superheavy or the Rattler, but those do make very good "End Boss" type units. But both are based on Star League designs and can be used as such or handwaved as prototypes, R&D can take decades after all.

>>97666713*taps pipe* There was drama in 2021 with a Battletech writer. He got """fired""" (he was a freelancer and stopped getting hired) for deciding that he no longer needed a filter and was angering a very autistic group. This wasn't the first time he'd done this, but it was the first time he began to try and tie Battletech to being 'aligned' with a specific political ideology, just as the franchise exploded into popularity from GW deciding they can be assholes again after pretending they weren't for like 6 years.*packs pipe, lights, puffs on it contemplatively*There were calls for a boycott. The kickstarter succeeded and there was a lot of gloating from people who believed they had "won" against some kind of foe. As always, the mormon cabal collected their petrodollars and proceeded to completely shit the bed again and again. The wheel turns, do it not.
>>97666653I don't know why they formated it like that, it should just say 18 mapsheets in the long range bracket with nothing in short or medium. >>97667155Oh great now Valk's here
>>97667271Once again, that FB post isn't even close to the first time he's done that. He goes on those rants constantly and has since at least the 90s. In a lot of other franchises, he would have been booted decades ago, either the first time he got into it with a customer or the first time he got into it with management. BLP was handled with kid gloves because he also delivered reliably. Eventually that camel's back was going to snap. They didn't even actually fire him, they just declined to renew his contract. Young doesn't verbally attack customers. Young doesn't attack managers. It took 30 years of BLP being an absolute butthole to get his contract declined. >>97666144>Is it a thing I can buy right nowYes, sort of. The retail KS backers got their stuff and put it up for retail sale, and it almost universally sold out within about 2 weeks. A few KS retail backers have gotten second shipments and put stuff for sale. If you catch one, you can buy it, but it almost immediately sells out. I tried to order from KB Hobbies when I got a notification about noon that they were in stock. By the time I'd gotten home from work, they were sold out of practically everything. All I got was a British starter box. I understand that Europe is slowly getting their stuff and Aus is getting shit on for fulfillment, but that happens with everything CGL does and I don't care about Australia anyway. They chose to live somewhere shitty, so they can cope with not getting shipping in a timely fashion. The general retail release is imminent, and not the usual CGL "imminent". This was the February GTM, and they don't let you publish stuff that isn't going to release within the quarter or else they charge you more money. So it's pretty much a lock that it's going up for general retail sale by end of April at the absolute latest, otherwise CGL has to pay penalties to GTM. I'd expect to see it up for sale at adepticon, at least. If I was willing to travel to the US, I'd consider going in order to get some, but I don't travel to 3rd world nations.

>>97667108>Getting this mad over a civilized three star review with constructive criticismWew lad! You don't need to rupture your colon over someone mildly disliking your fanfic like that!
>>97668087And he keep making amazon books with a very racist nickname, and using AI bt mechs for the covers...
>>97668117>He wouldn't chain Herb up and have him write more Wobbies, Steven King Misery-styleWhat a waste.
>>97668087It wasn't "just some guy" but the "fellow" author that had advised and nurtured Ace into become a Shrapnel author. Ace ended up confiding in the guy that reading the book made him want to shoot Pardoe in the dick because of how it portrayed trannies. The guy then immediately breaks the confidence of his protege and tells Pardoe about it. Leading to everything that happened.
>>97667440I’m pretty sure it was the /r/battletech mods initially trying to keep fag shit (and political autism in general) to a minimum, but the usual crowd threw a fit, CGL started another “official” subreddit, then a mod who had been asleep for years came back, kicked the mod team and replaced them with wholesome progressive allies, then gave it it to CGL and
"I got my mech pregnant" and other tales from the periphery in today's issue of...Tales from the Periphery!
>>97668627The saddest thing about the whole thing was that, if I'm remembering right, Ace has said that Pardoe was an idol up to that point. That it was reading his stuff over the years that made him want to write for Battletech. Then he got a big case of "don't meet your heroes" and chimped out over it.

>>97666876Does that include the hammer and sickle or does it only target the other extremist ideology that killed far less people?
>>97666876Are they going to kill them off?
>>97668888NO BULLY!
>>97668896Of course it doesnt include communism of any sort, else house steiner would be forbidden too.
Well, I see the Troontech supporters are in full force this thread. Are you ladies freshly dilated?
>>97668627You are forgetting that he lied to Craig the entire time he knew him and was actively pretending to be a lesbian nurse. He also got banned from MWO for cheating and liked to lie about that shit too, clsiming he was well known in the community for...sperging the fuck out, something he claimed was an endearing trait. >>97668777He's lying. He lied the entire time he knew them, lied some more and then tried to lie his retarded way out of getting in trouble for lying.Ace Kaller apologia is SO bizarre, because "he lied for years!" is usually enough.
>>97667166Sad but true. At the end of the day, Pardoe's biggest issue wasn't politics but his inability to take criticism, which is one of the most important aspects of any writing or other entertainment enterprises. You can see it in reverse with Tom Cruise. Yes, he's an insane cult member, but directors love working with him because he's agreeable and always listens to their feedback.
>>97669644>WAAAAH! muh tranny got offended and sperged out at backlash for threats of violence! No one gives a fuck, your tranny faggot can go off himself.
>>97667218>>97667164Apparently his old face looked like a male version of Katrina Steiner. He used to act as a body double for her when they were kids.

>>97669644I guess Craig is also a liar for claiming it was said to him in person.
>>97669989It was over discord you lying retard. I know its you robin. Please off yourself
I want to be inside the hunchback-4p doing a long opp in the burning desert badlands not showering for days and sleeping on a shitty pull out cot and wiping my swamp ass out of my standard issue mech warrior thong with baby wipes kept in the glove box that doesn’t close anymore and slams with every step of the mech.
>>97670086Who's Robin?
>>97665227Honored.
>>97670304BattleTech The Damocles Sanction has been uploaded to LogFiles. They've been releasing a bunch of Audio books on a constant basis.
As a merc, how concerned should you be if your next mission consists of escorting a lance and a half of Firestarters and Vulcans?
>>97667407> I get that once they get one in the door they’ll recruit other troons but who keeps letting the first one in?It's funny because I've seen the same thing concerning Nazis. I guess Horseshoe theory is proven right yet again.
>>97670590Whatever else you do in this situation, insist on payment first.
>>97670594I've only ever heard people say it about nazis but I've never actually seen any of my media or hobbies increasingly populated by nazis and change to pander to nazis.
>>97670594People love Nazi policies. They just hate the word Nazi. But everything we like and want to make society into, normal people just fucking love. So either get on board, or get on board the train, because we're taking over the US, and soon, the world. National Socialism is humanities future.
>>97670614Good. Keep shilling for Israel.

>people are STILL rehashing Pardoe drama HALF A DECADE laterYou people anger me. And stop posting about that fucking flying boat game. Post mechs or get the fuck out.
>>97670974>And stop posting about that fucking flying boat game. But BattleTech is literally a Walking Boat Game...
>>97670974I'm convinced most of /btg/ doesn't even actually like Battletech, they're just in here to bitch and spin conspiracies
>>97670974>HALF A DECADE laterTime moves faster as you get older. If you asked me, I would have thought this was all like 2 years ago based just on my sense of time. I think it's such a major thing because Pardoe was the last of the OG stable of novel writers still around, and he was positioned for leading the spine novels like Stackpole used to. Then, just as he wrapped up the Dark Age with Hour of the Wolf, he got canned. That's a lot of momentum that had to shift and one extra reason we're probably in the current timeline hell. You all also now realize we've been in Forever 3152 for 5 fucking years. It can now join the honored ranks of Forever '67 and Forever 3145. Jesus, in the same time we went from the very beginning of the game in Battledroids to Tukayyid.
>>97668877Wonder how they felt about the card game

>>97671267my local flgs put out a box of the old AS kits on the shelf. weirdo
>>97671261Nothin' too wild, Citadel paints. Purple is just Genestealer Purple, no washes or anything. The main body is The Fang, washed Drakenhof Nightshade, then drybrushed Russ Grey iirc. Friend had been flirting with BT but was hesitant to get in, and he thought Clan Mongoose sounded funny (despite being dead) so I painted some up as a gift.
>>97671275Nah man, that's an exact full set of the 2006-2014 base Battletech box plastics. They did reuse them for the AS branded stuff, but that exact selection of 24 chassis is the ones that came in the regular Battletech box. There were just a few years where they included a couple extra premium figs. I don't see that here, so that places this set as a 2006 set.
>>97671272I wanted to terrain the bases

Is this practical or just autism? Have been looking for rules to having mechs hot dropped leopard style but for poor people. I’ve had no luck finding rules but I don’t have strategic operations so that might be the problem.
