I'm new and first strike is kind of fucking me up as I try to move from basics to nuance. Explanations of first strike on defense from official sources keep saying first strikers are potent blockers because they can hold off a bunch of creatures at once. I thought blockers could only block one creature per combat unless they specifically say they can block multiple attackers? As far as I'm aware FS/DS only allows you to evade combat damage if your blocker is able to kill in the first strike step. So what am I missing here in this example? How is this one guy able to hold off multiple attackers? What the fuck are they talking about when they say it would be disadvantageous to attack here?

Landstill is at least a deck with interaction but thanks to the mistake of letting a stifling effect put creatures into play and the fundamental design mistake of manlands it's just boring to play against since it just does nothing and passes its turn. Terrageddon is still interesting but other than something like four swords and a few wastelands it's just solitaire. Oathponza is boring. Just Terrageddon with winter's grasp and thermokarst instead of Armageddon. Burn is just MTG's fundamental design mistake with red. Printing 2-3 points of direct damage for only one mana was always a mistake. Repeating that mistake over several sets for a deck that can turn 3-4 most opponents in most formats is one of JotC's biggest design mistakes.
