>Thread Question
Have you played any matches with the Battle March rules? Do you think the ruleset will stay in the next edition (if we get one)?
>>
If most state troops wear plate armor, why is it the most expensive armor in WFRP? Shouldn't it be the most common?
>>
>>97682073
Pretty sure state troopers only wear a cuirass and a codpiece as body armor.
It's not like they're as heavily armored as an Arnorian(whom also didn't have plate armor).
>>
>>97682073
most state troops don't wear much armour
>>
Hey I asked over at /3dpg/ about Slambo's pose name.
>>97680858
Might as well ask here as well.

What is Slambo's pose called? Some fantasy models seem to pay homage to it. I would love a collection of different models all in the same pose.
Whether they're 3D printed, metal, or resin or plastic.
>>
are lizardmen playable if i've got the new models?
i know the new aggraddons, slann, and kroak are much bigger, and the carnosaur is the endtimes kit thats a lot bigger than the old metal one.

i've got a pretty sizable aos lizardmen army, wondering if i can get 2 games out of it with base adapters, but im not sure how well the sizes line up with the new stuff or if thats not that big of a deal
>>
>>97682100
The aggradon straight up do not exist in fantasy, they are a monstrous cavalry unit when cold one riders were standard heavy cavalry.
You'll be at a small disadvantage with your saurus as they're on 33mil rounds instead of 30mil squares, but it's negligible. Mostly you can just use them as is outside of the aggradon.
>>
>>97682073
>If most state troops wear plate armor
They dont. Only greatswords (the elite bodyguard of the count and other influential nobles) do.

>>97682085
Thats also light armor, going by what dark elf warriors count as.
>>
>>97682094
>What is Slambo's pose called?
Slambo. There is no formal name for the pose, its just based on an "iconic" old warhammer model.

As >>97682085 and >>97682090 said, both state troops and their historical inspirations (landsknechts and rëislaufer to about the end of the Thirty Years' War) could wear breastplates and helmets, although the actual amount of soldiers that would wear them would differ between regiments, location, era and recruitment method.

While there wasn't an assembly line of armour production in this period basic breastplates and helmets were (by this time) easy enough to produce in large enough amounts to equip a sizeable part of an army with, although in the case of the historical landsknechts it was usually only the soldiers fighting at the front or in close combat that would be equipped in breastplates and thigh protection.

>>97682094
I believe it's just a pose for miniatures that can also be mounted in multi-option kits. Some of those (the Empire General) were probably used as inspiration behind that miniature, without considering the context behind the pose.

Normal State Troops like Halberdiers do get a metal Breastplate in their WFRP Up in Arms career, and art depicts them with such equitment but considered different from Platemail since that's a separate item in the Greatsword or Knight Careers trappings compared to the Halberider or Soldiers trappings.

I love how arbitrary armor is in this game.
A minotaur's belt is light armor, an elf's maille and breastplate are light armor, I'm not sure what tomb king heavy cavalry are wearing, it looks like just a helmet, and that's light armor.
Witch elves are wearing bikinis with kneepads and that's light armor. These guys have like nothing and that's apparently light armor if you pay for it.
>>
>>97682202
aggradons barely fit the width of the cavalry base but are absurdly longer than a cavalry base
you'd need to either only play them on a single rank or have the second rank represented by nothing, just empty bases under the overhang of these huge tails
>>
>>97682204
A breastplate is not "plate armor"

I am unironically considering banning the Intimidation skill and all related talents. One of the players has stacked up the SLs so high through talents and just base stat/skill that nobody sentient can even come close to him without instantly being forced to run for their fucking lives from a single shout.

I think in terms of WFRP's armour system, a Metal breastplate and Platemail one would be the same thing though?
Like the game doesn't have a distinction between them on a rules level, it's just fluff.
if we take the armour as depicted in this table from a AoE3 a normal state Trooper would have an Open Helm and a Plate Breastplate, but a Knight would have all the plate armour and use a Sallet or a Bascinet instead of an Open Helm

Ordered some terrains online recently.
The set is a bit heavy since it's cast in resin, but they're clearly handsculpted with a lot of detail.

Looking forward to painting it.
>>
>>97682210
My favorite example is Dragon Ogres, who go from "light armor" to "heavy armor" by simply putting on a little helmet.

Akcshually they've a leather pauldron in one hand.
I agree with you about the arbitrariness of armour in this game. Pretty sure regular elf spearmen wear more armour than greatswords, but the latter have full plate while elves have to do with light armour.

Raaroo! Slowly getting some work done on my gors, decided to have fun with the skinned face belt buckle, tried to make it look recent or ”fresh”.
Still have plenty of things to paint on them before they’re finished, everything from all the metals, loincloths, rocks and of course the bases (and the stuff I put on the bases)

>>
>>97682962
Good. Empire having full plate was always stupid, most of them wouldnt have access to the good dwarf forged armor.
>>
>>97682787
Okay I can't really defend the chaos warriors but I can imagine an orc wearing huge slabs of steel humans couldn't wear being more resistant to the shit Warhammer throws at him than real life plate like >>97682962

>>
>>97682990
the Empire has the most sophisticated metallurgy after the dwarfs and the capacity for mass production and this reflects the HRE which in the 15th-16th century was by far the most sophisticated region for metal production in europe.

Slowly, but it's getting there. Once these Gors are done I'll finish my great bray, then move onto a group of centigors, still got more stuff to do than those of course, but I take a few steps at a time.
>>
>>97682990
Good? If I knight in full plate doesnt count as full plate what the fuck does?
>>
>>97683036
>the Empire has the most sophisticated metallurgy after the dwarfs
Nope, theyre stuck with shitty human pig-iron as opposed to the superior metals (gromril/ithilmar/whatever chaos armor is made from). Human "full plate" is dwarf made.
>>
>>97683047
Magical/better than possible armor (chaos armor, following that stuff like gromril)
>>
>>97682962

It's the lack of stirrups I tell you!

>>97683013

No, I just Googled greatswords to support my claim. The 6th edition metal ones were more armoured though
>>
>>97683056
Well they literally already have rules for that.
>>
>>97683042
Good to hear. I always get nervous painting leaders and tend to leave them last. It’s an irrational fear but what can you do.
>>
>>97683049
they have crucible steels that are forged and tempered, we're talking 7-8 on the Mohs scale about as hard as you can get for something you have to bend into armour plates. They also fully articulate the suits so that as much of the body is covered as possible unlike other factions. Also there is a hell of a lot more steel than gromril or ithilmar around so going by your own logic wouldn't barely any dwarfs or elves have it, certainly far fewer than steel plated Empire troops?
>>
>>97680025
Some folks have gotten their stuff early so I thought I'd ask.
>>
>>97683193
>but theres lots of pig iron in the empire
yea, which is why empire knights are cheap. Low quality troops in low quality armor, but you can field them in large numbers.
>>
>>97683204
and yet Empire remain the only relevant and definitive faction in the setting
>>
>>97683238
what did anon mean by this
>>
>>97683238
Beastmen and Ogres are both more relevant. You're just looking at it from the perspective of an Imperial. The Cathayan has to deal with Beastmen and Ogres. The Orc has to deal with Beastmen and Ogres. The Imperial has to deal with Beastmen and Ogres and so on and so forth.

They increased security at Warhammer World for precisely this reason. A lad in my group had a friend who worked for Veolia who did GW's bins for a while and he used to nick loads of stuff from them. It's all under lock & key now with CCTV coverage.
