Has anyone had experience with paasche airbrushes? My mum has gone through three in the last few years and can't figure out why they just seem to stop working.
>>97724070Not a ton, but my dad has one. His stopped working and when he brought it over to see if I could figure it out, it looked like the lever had been bent slightly, and bending it back slightly got it working again. Idk how it happened, probably forcing it when trying to reassemble or clean it. I don't remember what I did to determine that. I think I compared it to a picture of all the parts laid out and the curve looked a little off.>>97723954I understand. It was regular sized and not miniature after all.

>>97724116Lol, the honeycomb weaver is so over the top.
Looking to try a varnish. Can anyone vouch for the army painter matt varnish or their satin "aegis" varnish, or should I try something else instead? I prefer matt over shiny, but will use the satin if it's better and not too egregious
>>97724177If you're talking about a rattlecan then stay the fuck away from AP, they're unironically awful.
>>97724177The spray one? The army painter ultramatte is lovely to use
>>97724177Yeah, matte is best. Satin is still a bit too shiny imo.ButI'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as 'varnish', is in fact, a clear coat, or as I've recently taken to calling it, 'a protective clear coat'. Varnish is not necessarily a clear coat, but rather a type of clear coat that is typically resin or oil based, and often has a yellow tint or develops one over time.
>>97724212shut the fuck up
I want to see the financials on kingdom death to see how much they sell from their regular mini lines vs their pinup models.
Theoretically speaking - would lower (1.2-1.5 bar) pressure in airbrush instead of standard 1.8-2.0 bar slow down evaporation of paint inside? Is it possible for air to dry the paint inside when one holds trigger for air but don't pull it yet to release the paint?Stupid questions, I know, but I still think that my problems comes from something obvious to everyone else but myself.
do you have any experience ordering anything from chinai ordered magnets from china 5 months ago and today got a message from customs that i have to pay double their purchasing price in taxes and various other expenses

>>97724241motherfucker you have been told a million times that air doesn't go inside the paint nozzle unless something is broken. consider the following possibilities and solutions:1) your airbrush is defective from the factory in which case you should rma it2) you took the airbrush apart and put it back together wrong in which case you should consult the manual or a video3) you are doing something wrong with your paint in which case you should try using different types of paint to narrow down the problem

>>97724296For fuck sake, Im literally losing my mind here by grabbing every possible fucking explanation I can find. I don't have any, ANY other place I can ask, if I don't find solution there will be only one way out - throwing this and other airbrush out of window, along with compressor and other supplies, write down already huge sunken cost and accept that Im so fucking pathetic I don't even deserve to kill myself at this point. Thousands of people just grab the tools and do it effortlessly while I fucking struggle to do even basics.Second point can be ruled out since problem repeated itself on model that was not took apart after it was unpacked. First point is highly unlikely, even if model was behaving oddly compared to H&S instruction video (nozzle was tightly secured inside the cap instead of dropping off easily, handle was screwed so hard that it required WD40 and tools to unscrew). For third point, I honestly don't know what else could I do to narrow down the problem - tried AK, old and new Vallejo, pure thinner, thinner + flow improver, that + retarder, 2.0, 1.8, 1.5 and 1.2 bar pressure. Only other things that might still affect the situation is trigger movement (pulsing, with holding air during that time) and not having paint properly mixed or having it separate for some reason but there is nothing suggesting this to take place, maybe except of having leftovers of paint in the cup at the bottom after flushing with water.I should fucking whip myself to the point of bleeding for the very idea of touching airbrushing in first place.
>>97724191Yeah, a rattlecan. Weird that AP gets such flak from some folks, like >>97724177Their paints are very good, in my opinion. Since there seems to be some disagreement and strong opinions about this, I'll just try it myself and see what I think.

>>97724614>I don't have any, ANY other place I can askwhat about h&s customer service?>For third point, I honestly don't know what else could I do to narrow down the problemtry something besides acrylic paint. try an alcohol ink. try a lacquer. if those work then you know the problem is with the paint and not the hardware. if they don't then call h&s and let them know everything you have tried that didn't work. the worst they can do is take it back and refund your money. quit being a baby and do some basic troubleshooting.
I bought a proper camera strobe flash. Not for mini photography, but I'm interested in if that really has much use. Maaaaybe I can use a super small aperture with the extra light and get rid of any depth of field issues.
Started laying down my autistically crafted flag stones. I'll probably only do them on the unique models in the box and do some lazy shit for the skeletons and zombies. Any suggestions on changes or improvements? I plan to also lay down texture paste and grass tufts after they're primed.
>>97725029>depth of field issuesMan, this kind of stuff drives me nuts, and it's not always obvious on a screen as small as an iPhone's. I'll set up some shots, take a bunch, and only later when I'm processing them do I get disappointed that some of what I thought would be my favourites end up blurry and unusable. This is actually a photo-composite of two different shots with the focus set in the foreground (Johnny) for one and the background (life-sized Mk VII) for the other.
>>97724909It was not bought directly at H&S but at Polish shop but maybe yeah, I should email them. Doubt they would accept it back, there are some scratches left on that middle section between main body and handle, despite securing it with cloth while I held it with pliers.Aside from normal acrylics I have some very old Tamiya paints, which are alcohol based acrylics instead. Don't know if that won't cause problems later due to their incompatibility with water based ones, if there will be some leftovers after cleaning.>>97725029Anon, when doing macro photography you have to accept shallow depth of field. You can't fight physics, small objects at very close distance will have reduced DoF compared to bigger ones from larger distance. Likewise, past f/11 on typical modern camera (assuming full frame and 25MP) you start having diffraction effects so it's generally advised not to go smaller than f/16 (search for "photography diffraction limit" for more info).
>>97725029Really small apertures soften the image (and for macro shots getting rid of *any* depth of field issues would require a truly microscopic aperture), so you'll probably want to stick to f/8 or a bit tighter and then just focus stack from there.
>>97725116Johnny spotted
>>97725029i had this stand thing in my drawer for years until anon told me about open camera app and how to actually operate a modern camera phonethank you anon wherever you are
>>97725155>>97725153Obviously we don't need to get rid of ANY depth of field, minis are only like an inch thick. I haven't even really been using my actual macro lens for mini photos for a while now because I don't need a 6000x4000 image of a single space marine taking up the full frame.I probably won't end up using it for minis though, maybe in continuous mode just as another light source, but I already have a ton of small low power lights that are good for close up minis. I am going to mess around with it though.

>>97725916>>97725920>>97725944it's not only that i *paint* slowly is that i don't really sit to paint every day, most of last week was dedicated to trying to mold properly that skull pillar handle in the op, and still haven't got it rightalso i'm taking these latest models with extra care, since they are more individually interesting, if i were painting 20 models for a unit i would not spend that much time for each one, and even if i did batch painting speeds things up somenow that i think about it i think it took me 5 months on and off to paint the last full unit so...yeah, i'm trying to be more consistent now
>>97725997for me the core concept of scale modelling is that your model should look just like the real thing but hit with a shrink ray. conversely that means if my model was hit with an embiggening ray it should look like the real thing. a real object isn't going to have highlighted edges or volumetric shading so I'm not going to put it on my miniature either.

The yellow ribbon of my greenstuff has formed a weird thin layer on top, it's shiny and not sticky but still very pliable and it won't incorporate at all with the blue no matter how long I knead them together. It's super thin so I can just slice it off and use the rest but I don't understand why it only happened to the top and not the bottom, they were presumably both in contact with the same kind of packaging plastic for the same amount of time before I opened it.

Ok so im assembling my first wraithlord, and what I want to do is have the right hand have the sword kinda down like hes walking or at rest, left hand holding a brightlance pointing up. Issue is I just noticed the hand with a grip for a gun is ONLY a right hand grip. So if I put it on as such his hand will technically be backwards. Or I cant do it? Anyone have any advice or ideas? I guess I could just do the backwards hand, you wouldnt notice unless you look close but... autism.
>>97727535Can you cut the gun grip off the right hand and stick them to a left one?
>>97727554Not really? Very little of the handle isnt consumed by the finger. Unless im just done. But ive never done kitbashing before, even if its not really kitbashing. I mean maybe I could, cut off the small parts that stick out and put it on the fist hand.
>>97727564Yeah, it's pretty integrated. Couldn't you just mirror the pose you wanted?
>>97727572The issue is that the sword hand is ALSO a righty only, with the sword straight up being part of the hand this time. How are the AK Quick Gen metallic paints?I've been looking at their Dark Steel and thinking that it might be pretty good for 40k tank treads. But I'm unsure if it is a bright idea if it goes over a black primed pair of treads. >>97729195Because you can clean it with Tamiya enamel thinner without affecting the acrylic or lacquer layers underneath
Okay, somebody yesterday told me to try using different paint type as part of diagnosis processes with airbrush and that paint drying inside. I don't have lacquers but I still had some Tamiya acrylic paints, which are alcohol based, not water, so I assumed they could count. They might not be the best for that kind of test since they simply won't clog the airbrush no matter what (same reason as with lacquers - their thinner doubles as cleaner and dissolve paint so it auto-cleans the needle). Tried out 1:1 thinning, 1:2 thinner:paint and pure paint (it's fairly thin out of jar anyway). Picked white since it should be clearly visible and painted few minis.Unfortunately, paint would still dry inside the nozzle, the same way it did with normal acrylics. Hard to catch that with phone camera but you can see the white paint layer inside. Now I'm truly out of ideas what the fuck is happening here. Only common element here is compressor but that makes no sense.
>>97729385Get a cheap humidifier, maybe it really is the fault of air being too dry. Also, what cord(I think that's the word?) you're using to connect the airbrush to your compressor? Maybe it leaks or something? This really shouldn't happen it's so bizzare.
>>97728276I generally like to just use a dull knife to go along the mouldline. Then I purposefully make sure to go slightly too deep causing it to become a crevice instead. I then calmly try to blend the crevice by smoothing it out, this generally makes the crevice look even larger than before. I then start to very calmly fill the hole full of pva glue, creating a perfect cum puddle. This is where it all comes together.
>>97729414I checked long ago if there is some sort of leak with the cord with soap water (you know, that trick when you apply water with soap over surface and watch for bubbles), it's not that. Humidity in room varies between 30 and 37%, so that could count (lower when I open the window, holy shit), problem itself start appearing during the winter, too (water would condense on window glass constantly plus heater was working so that could further make air extra dry). But I still don't understand how as the drying happens inside instead of on the tip.
And as for cord and compressor - I really don't have much choice, just get what is available at stores, unlike airbrushes there is very little selection in that regard.
>>97729452>Humidity in room varies between 30 and 37%I'm not having issues with Tamiya drying in the nozzle even when it's down in the mid to high teens, but perhaps that's the Mr Levelling Thinner I like to thin it with. Then again, it's probably worth keeping in mind that the compressor is going to do... things with the humidity in the air as it shoves it along, and as far as I can tell the airflow should be outside of the main nozzle, inside of the nozzle cap, so how the fuck it'd get around to bugger up the paint inside of the nozzle while you're painting...
>>97729525Bug me too. Now it is highly unlikely that H&S airbrush would be defective from the factory and that two vastly different airbrushes (Polish/Chinese FA-190X and that Evolution) would experience same kind of problem. Only way that air would get inside the paint tract is when cup runs out of paint and sucks air. But then I would flush it with water, cleaner and water again, at full speed, so that should move any dried paint and blast it out.Like I said, I'm so out of ideas it's unreal.

>>97729385Are you using any flow improver added to your thinner? When I moved from the east coast us to the west coast I had to start adding it due to the much drier environment.
>>97730091Yeah, 20%. So for 10 drops of paints it would be 8 thinner and 2 of flow improver. Mixed them in separate bottle in that proportions beforehand. Vallejo write on bottle not to use more than that.
>>97730105Just eliminating variables, tried mixing your paint and thinner/flow improver before pouring it into the airbrush cup (with a couple drops in the cup first)?

>>97728497This anon is wrong on the glow by a long shot, ignore that. The bases actually look nice, but but could perhaps use a shade, and some more tones. A subtle blue perhaps.>>97728460The green as is extremely questionable, it makes it very difficult for the eye to focus on anything other than the green due to how aggresively it contrasts the rest of the mode, which is otherwise painted quite nicely. Look at the codex cover you're using for inspiration and consider how the green would spoil the mood on that. I would drop it back to only the gun and gaunt's eyes. This will leverage that extreme eye draw to actually pull the eye to the model's focal points, isntead of making it confusing to look at. You also need to cut back on the osl, you're doing it very sloppily and it makes no sense, like lighting the upper ridge of the gaunt's head from an eye that isn't able to illuminate it at all. Remember, osl radiates out from the light source from the perspective of the light source, not from your perspective on the model. I would bring the vents down to a dark teal, and the eyes up to a lower satuation yellow. You really need to be careful when you do a red dominant color scheme when you adventure over to the green side of the color wheel or you get these extreme contrast effect you have now, which has to be used very intentionally to avoid spoiling the whole composition.I really like what you have going on with the carapace and flesh, your black is sick nasty, which is why I'm so invested in this, I think you've got something great with some tweaks.

>>97733021> special spongeIts just kitchen sponge or car wash sponge though, and it’s reusable unlike paper towel
>>97730643Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely give some more attention to the bases and yeah I went way overboard with the OSL although it's not nearly as bad IRL but I'll still avoid making these mistakes again.I've used teal as base for the green and it really looked like shit, too cold, too desaturated, without at least some yellow it really does not work. Ideally I would like for the tubes to have that faint glow from within like in the artwork. How is the green on this bigger model for example? In this project I still want to increase the red and maybe add some blue and purple reflections to the blacks.
I hate the pretentiousness of youtubers so much its unreal.>we will first of all use a zenithal highlight>no you see we need to do an underpainting and then sketch our primary and secondary lights>now that everything is mapped we can start the actual painting, remember to use several thin coats for full opacityyou fucking nigger that completely nullifies whatever stupid bullshit you did beforehand, its nothing but pseudointellectual performative garbage
>>97733359>watching sloptuberswell there's your problem, now fuck off with this garbage
>>97733359I agree that youtubers do zenithals because they look better faster for videos, but when you are doing sketching it can still be useful for giving you guidance for where to place things for your primary light.>zenithal>paint your shadow color in the dark areas>paint your highlight color in the white areas>blend between them.Zenithals aren't just for slopchop, though it can be used for that. Most youtubers aren't even doing shading when they do zenithals though, they are just doing it because it looks better on camera in the first step and then they paint a flat base coat over the whole thing. The real skill when doing directional lighting is to just look at the model from the direction the light is supposed to be and outline the shaded areas manually, block in the diffuse highlights, and then once you know your desired viewing angles you can infer your specular highlight locations.
>>97733359>undertones and values don't matterYou retards can't be helped even when given everything on a silver platter
Little thing I found out recently - I was afraid of damaging airbrush needle while holding it with fingers for bubble back cleaning but turns out that same effect might be achieved with makeup sponge fragment, gently pressed around the needle. I assume it's safer than with fingers as sponge is soft and unlikely to bend it.
My friend gave me a bottle of Vallejo white ink, can it be use for anything other than zenithal highlight?
>>97733788No
>>97733799So it's only for zenithal? I still don't understand what is the point of zenithal when i could just imagine the lights
>>97733803it's for people who can't rotate the lights in their mind.
>>97732694I'm wary of using GW metallics as they've all been shit in my experience. Brass scorpion looks maybe a bit too orangey but not far off the imaginary perfect colour I've got in my head. I wish scale 75 old copper was actually the colour in this picture and not a stronger orange. By far the best quality coloured metallics I've used. I have army painter dark skin shade wash which nails the shadow tone I'm hoping for.

>>97733064did it clog with the tamiya? how thick is your paint? if you drag it up the side of your mixing cup with your stick will it run back down in a thin stream? idk which h&s you bought but the smaller your needle is the thinner your paint needs to be. I would try thinning your paint way more than you think you need to and then dialing back until it starts to clog. like start with 4:1 and then 3:1 and 5:2 and 2:1 and then 3:2. don't worry about how it actually sprays for now, just see how far you can go before it starts clogging.
>>97734604It didn't actually clog the same with Tamiya, as I noticed before, their thinner (and actually it accept lacquer thinner from same company) also dissolve their paint so it sort of auto-clean the tip so it was still spraying. Tamiya paints are fairly thin out of bottle but I still tried thinning it 2 to 1. In cup it was very watery, looking fairy overthin to my standards. However, it shouldn't form any kind of layer on the needle or inside the nozzle, especially after being subjected to flushing and bubbling back (~15 seconds long) with pure IPA, followed by flushing with water.0.28mm nozzle by the way, the one already installed in Evolution. As for thinning, I also tried thinning it way more than I thought it is required but already at 2-1 thinner-paint ratio it would flow on the surface, even from distance and while moving the airbrush instead of pointing at single spot, creating tide marks after drying. I don't know why people say that H&S airbrushes have highly precise trigger, to me it's the opposite as it easily goes from weak, pinpoint stream to full blast with minimal distance change. But there could be also the problem of having too much flow improver, I took some bottle and premixed thinner with flow improver in 4-1 ratio. Thanks for suggestions, I will check them out soon. Also prepared some email to H&S with description of problem and steps I took so far, don't know if to send them or not but maybe they would have some ideas as well.
>>97733134ohhh the sponge is only for when you clean the brush after painting is done

Trying to paint skaven for the first time. I regret gluing the arms on. I hate near-blindly digging around and trying to paint the belly parts!! I'm dreading when I have to start cleaning up the overlaps.
>>97734950Can barely tell that I drybrushed the brown parts because I used a paint too close to the main brown and laid it on too thick, but maybe it'll all come together after I apply some wash. I planned to drybrush some steel on the left guy's armor to make it look worn, but I now have no confidence that I won't fuck that up and get it all over the rest of the model.
>>97734969I do not see any color variation on this brown. You probably won't see any in front of you instead of on a photo after applying a wash.
>>97734950>>97734969why is the face a different color from the rest? rattos are only hairless on their noses, hands, feet, and tails. you should swap the face and tail colors.

Two questions:I picked up some liquitex white ink today, and noticed a few very nice-looking ink colors like phthalocyanine green. What uses can I get out of colored acrylic inks for mini painting?Second, is it possible to sand a necron's torso in such a way that it looks more feminine?
>>97733820All the GW metalics I have are great except auric gold (total shit) and hashnut copper is lackluster too. GW metalics were released in two waves (and you can tell them apart by price). The golds and other lighter colors in the first wave all sucked ass, and so when GW launched Age of Sigmar (the game with the solid gold poster boys) they smartly launched new metalics to go with them and they are great.Castelex bronze is one of my favorite metalics, I use it for chipping all the time. >bad color representationI do not understand how its so hard for companies to do this. Some of the GW paints have this issue too (looking at you sons of horus green)
>>97735005Yeah. It's Knight-Questor Flesh over Gorthor Brown. The tails are entirely KQ but you can't really tell. I'm extremely limited in my brown options at the moment. Should I try drybrushing the wood with a pale flesh tone like the robes have? That might be too stark, though.>>97735021I don't know. I've never seen skaven painted with furry faces so I thought it would look weird. Maybe I'll try that next time. Probably would prove quicker and easier anyways.
>>97735038You can thin white acrylic paint with your acrylic white ink, keeps the opacity and vibrancy of the white while helping to keep the white paint from getting chalky when thinned. As for other acrylic inks, you can add some of them to metallic paints to make colored metallics. Inks are usually much more pigment rich and vibrant so they will tint the metallic better without losing their color. Vallejo metal color aluminium or duraluminium is the paint that I see being used for this most often since its already very smooth and only needs a couple drops of the colored ink. Inks are also great when used as a pinwash since they are so vibrant.
>>97733820>>97735071I normally hate shitadel metallics but Warplock Bronze is anomalously good in terms of both color quality and consistency and I always have to recommend it when possible.
>>97735093>As for other acrylic inks, you can add some of them to metallic paints to make colored metallicsNice. I'm gonna try and find an excuse to do this somewhere.
>>97735113I've seen it used to get the really nice blue-green metallic armor that alpha legion uses, as well as van dyke brown ink used on some minotaurs and their bronze armor. The ink helps to thin out the metallic enough that you only need a little thinner to get it to shoot through an airbrush if you're using one, or get a really smooth coat with a brush.
>>97734824>mute the greenSince I hate the teal look, I think I'll go with orange or something, the green is way too overpowering especially when I put them in a unit. lmaoWould be an easy fix if I didn't already do the shitty OSL over 8 of them, next batch I guess.

>>97735213Khorne read is my goat. This is one of my best minis (so I love an excuse to show it off), which is painted up with citadel metalics and reds.
I'm trying to pick up painting, but I think I'm literally too fucking braindead to use wet palette. Not only is my control of the brush horrid on its own, paint is far too wet and spills everywhere. dry tissue absorbs too much pigment and not enough water.
>>97735021They're rat-men. You can paint them more as men or more as rat, there are no rules.
>>97735175They all used to. >>97735271Brush control comes with practice, learning to properly thin your paint comes with practice, getting the amount of water in the wet palette right comes with practice. Okay, stupid question, but - assuming you need to paint large group of minis that are mostly composed of armor in one color (A) and under-armor parts in another (B), which makes more sense - to spray/drybrush/contrast paint A all over and paint B as details or the other way, spray B and then paint A over it?
>>97735087Anon, just mix your paints, GW can't stop you
>>97735419Depends on the exact minis obviously but I think it'd better to spray in under-armor color.
>>97735339One thing, do not repaint your first mini. Keep it as a measuring stick so you can look back and see how much progress you've made, it will be a nice piece of nostalgia. Don't worry about how long it takes, speed will come with familiarity and practice. Its very easy to watch other people's content and compare yourself to it but that can be a slippery slope. That is how they paint, focus on how you paint. The only one you need to be better than is yourself from last time, even if its just focusing on improving one single part between minis progress is progress, and progress increases brush control which improves all aspects of your painting.
>>97735419Depends on colors desu, I prefer to spray light and paint dark over it rather than vice versa
>>97735419Painting raised areas without getting paint in the recesses will always be easier than trying to get a brush in between armor plates to paint some under armor. But it depends on the scale we're talking about here. Like I wouldn't tell people to base coat Space Marines in the color of the little joints at the hips or back of the knee, and then hand paint the 95% coverage armor on top of that.
>>97735435>>97735467>>97735473To be precise, I have lots of Infinity minis primed and stored in box (some sort of "second stage backlog" if you will) and most of them are either PanO or YJ (pic related). I have to run these tests with airbrush with clogging diagnosis so I could as well apply at least one type of color to them as part of this process. With brush I would simply paint all base colors one by one, before making corrections, washes and going for highlights, with airbrush Im simply not sure.
>>97735021>>97735026I suppose they're designed so that you can paint them as either way
>he doesnt remove the dried paint from the inside of the dropper capsngmi
>>97735763kneading these things is really satisfying to me for some reason
>>97735763They're basing bits now.
Fellas Im in need of your assistance.Im looking for a blue colour.I want it to be that kind of blue you look at and think "damn, thats so fucking blue"A very saturated blue, very rich. Not very dark, nor very bright either.I dont care: regular acrylic paint, ink, contrast-like paint, whatever.
>>97735796One of these maybe?
>>97735796The AP fanatic paints have a set of vivid blues. Maybe try royal blue?
>>97734907you're fighting a worthy battle brother, stick with it.

The Rupture Cannon gets two Strength 18 shots that inflict d6 + 6 Wounds apiece! Good thing the Knight Crusader I brought along with me kept making the 5+ invulnerable saves for his ion shield, or I would have lost.In the spirit of Ender's Game, though, I want to completely surprise my opponent this coming Saturday by switching tactics and bringing units he doesn't know I own and would never expect. Maybe I should finish basing those ten Hellblasters and have them step out of a drop pod with a Lieutenant in tow for some totally unexpected [LETHAL HITS].Plus, I see we've already hit the bump limit and are on page 6. It couldn't hurt to start building the next collage.
>>97735796only 1 paint made me think of that, and it is the old VGC Magic Blue (72.021)I dont know if the new formulation is as good as the old one.Probably not simply because of the new matt finish.Airbrushed Citadel Talassar Blue over white is also very vibrant.
>>97735985>those ten Hellblasters and have them step out of a drop pod with a Lieutenant in towLooks like I have to start the basing before I can finish it.
>>97735763I dunno what droppers you have, but my caps must seal at the threads cause the caps are always just a pool of wet paint.
First test. Not completely done, but I like the result so far.
Best primer for metal minis?
>>97736153what were you testing?
>>97736198I dont think ive ever had an issue with any primers 2bh, AK, colourforge, even armypainter have all been fine imo, Ive never had paint rub off and the only thing that really stops chipping is running superglue over at-risk edges
>>97736665The colors and the way to apply them so it would look good.
>>97736198Most primers will work. If you have trouble with primer still flaking off then you can start with Mr. Metal first to give the other primer or basecoats something to grab onto.
A sniper joints the skeleton swat teamI picked like the worst possible angles to show this but the torso is a skeleton ribcage
and done
>>97736980>Primer for primerWhat'll they think of next?
>>97737031Mr meatl is enough to paint on top of, but some people like to put on a coat of a unifying color before starting to paint.
Scratchbuild sodden roof battering ram I've been working on over the past couple days. The roof is removable.Kind of a dark age style/fantasy visual theme to it. Early covered rams would have their roof and other surfaces covered in damp earth just prior at the attempt at assault. This was done for quite a while, and generally out of necessity when nothing else was available. Dampened rawhide was another fire retardant material that would be used, and even later they would soak cloth in vinegar and drape that over the enclosure roof. Originally this was a prototype for a roof for other scratch builds that didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, I was going to turn it into a destroyed/burned down structure but it ended up as a siege ram. Currently working on the ram itself which is fairly elaborate. I think it will turn out pretty good. Maybe a little tall for what it's supposed to be but ehh. Just a couple more things to do on the lower half of the structure and I'll be slapping some paint on it and getting her finished up.
>>97736772it just sounded like you were testing a specific technique
>>97737147>some people like to put on a coat of a unifying color before starting to paintaint that just a base coat?
>>97735271Let the pallete sit for a bit to evaporate the water somewhat. It should be damp rather than moist, that should help with your paint consistency. Don't worry man it all takes practice
Anyone have experience with using a rectangular softbox and a regular photography light as your main mini painting light (mounted directly above desk facing down)?I don't hate my lighting setup but I was looking at getting something up to and including the redgrass, but for the same money I can just buy a new light and a rectangular softbox and then I also have another photography light if I need one.

>>97737756I like your boats.>>97737181soulThe miniature gate it's destined for doesn't stand a chance.>>97737022Nice glow on the shield-thingy. I have to get around to painting my geomancer as well.
