The box suffers from the fact that GW needs Space Marines in every set as they are the approved starter faction, even if they dont have much to add to them. Its clear to anyone with eyes that the new Ork stuff was the clear focus and the marines are just there because they have to be
in a better world we would've got guard vs orks with a steel legion refresh seeing as its armageddon but GW feels it needs marines in every edition set so

No. They'll just replace the one.
And no, they won't replace it with the ETB shit, ETB only exists in starterboxes because GW designs with retards in mind. The kit is *purposefully* designed for people who have never used snippers or plastic glue ever. Complete noobs.

The new intercessors will get a multipart kit, which will come with more cosmetic options, it's the same what happened to the sternguard vets in the Leviathan starterbox. We first got the ETB sterns, then GW made multipart ones that had more bits to them.

Dumb(?) question about Legends.
According to Wahapedia, when you play these dweebs as Legends on a 40k Daemon army, they consider that you're playing the old ass model with its 25mm base.
However, in AoS, they updated the models with 32mm bases, but 40k Daemons don't get those on their regular sheets.
So in this situation am I supposed to use 25mm or 32mm?
>>
What's this new brainrot coming from the Chudhammer community that only Liberals play Chaos?

If I end up buying a whole Armageddon box I'm not sure what I'll do with the marine half. I kinda wanna keep the land speeder, I hate the grav plate shit on it but the rear has the same silhouette at least. I'm such a dumb fuck, I should've bought a ton of the old ones while they were still like $20 on eBay but I was too gamebrained and couldn't figure out how to use them. The rest of the marines I couldn't care less for but I'm not sure who's gonna want more fucking intercessors, characters, and vanguard vets without thunder hammers and storm shields.
Maybe I can find a player who doesn't want the mission decks and books and stuff and just get the Orks half and those.

>>
>>97982752
Primaris are about a head maybe a head and a half taller, and broader, so seeing them together it's easy to tell.
Time was Primaris all used that grille-less perforated mouth-guard on their helmets, but as seen above, the old style of "frowny face" helmets are bleeding back in; as they were always more iconic.
The OG Primaris kits also had less gothic detail work and handicrafts, opting for a more "Factory Fresh" look, but people had mixed opinions on "cleaning up" the baroque over-ornamented styles that had developed as part of the signature aesthetic.
Weapons are a fair tell; the classic Space Marine boltgun is a fairly stubby looking thing' these newfangled bolt rifles or whatever, tend to be proportionally longer in the barrel.
>>
>>97982774

It's using DARVO tactics mate.
>Deny

>Offender

There's a remarkable overlap between what they call "Darvo" and the tactics outlined in Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" which has been the standard leftist text in political maneuver since it was published, and is arguably the book responsible for the notion of "Loyal Opposition" melting into a puddle of slurry.
Worse; it's tactics are also emulated by the right, so now they feel justified in doing it, because their selective memories barely reach back past the last moral panic paradigm.

The thing that made classic plastic marines fun is that EVERY part could be instantly swapped with other parts. Legs, arms, chests, shoulders, helmets, backpacks, weapons. All of it, instantly swappable with no modification necessary. Removing the aquila and defined knee pads on a modern model and saying it's totally mk6 now or whatever doesn't fix the problem of GW's modern kit design.

Which is exactly what the box is because all of the models are basically identical to what were shown in the trailer. It even has a mk10 helmet with a cybernetic eye, which appears in the trailer.

I don't even remember if GW ever even promised they are bringing back old stuff anywhere, they just showed that one intercessor image with mk7 face plate and people went wild and started assuming shit.
And like the saying goes;
Assumption, is the mother of all fuck ups.
Anyone who expected GW to update the intercessors and give them the similiar treatment like what they did the Red Corsair raider kit were already lost in the sauce.
>>
>>97982958
>EVERY part could be instantly swapped with other parts.
I think the reason Primaris don't have this aspect is because GW saw 3rd party like AnvilIndustry and decided they want to frustrate the 3rd party aftermarket when it comes to making compatible bits.
AI can generate 3D models based off pictures and that new Yarrick plastic model that got a printed result quickly is probably gonna scare James Workshop into removing the 360 view option on the Warhammer webstore.

So now we just need to convince Bongland to make a useless law for big GW sized companies stating it is mandatory for 360 degree views on webstores because Bongland lawmakers will do everything in their power to avoid passing actually needed laws.

A 5x kit of not-chaos marines with patches of fur and belts, is absolute garbage. And the worst part is the mk2/mk3 parts use the old designs rather than the updated ones for whatever reason.

It is genuinely a terrible worthless kit for a faction that didn't need anything but shoulder pads, which they also managed to screw up with one of the worst upgrade kits ever conceived.

As someone relatively new to the hobby, would the general consensus be that the new box isn’t a particularly great pickup? So far I’ve just got a small WE force so there’d be no overlap with anything I currently own and I like the idea of buying and painting up a starter set for display purposes but maybe I’d have a better time seeking out an older box in terms of price or just the models.

the starter set is still good in my opinion. the main issues stem from them being a slight downgrade from the kits they’re updating, or virtually identical to other kits which makes them redundant. its still not a bad price for what you get and gives you a pretty solid force.
that is unless you pick the ork side (you should), then its 100% worth picking up especially as a new player.

In a roundabout way, a lie can move a mountain.
Though it seldom gets it to where you need it.

Truth is a hammer.
You hit them with it again and again, until they change under it's pressure, or die.
Or else, likewise happens to you.
Nature it a realm of contests.
Man seeks to complete an impossible task,
The act is self-justifying, because the work is worthwhile.
And so, base matter transcends itself, and attains purpose.

There are ways to trip yourself and undo your own work.
These are to be avoided.

Speak truly, speak well, and take wise council.
And remember, that speech and council alone are insufficient for the completion of The Great Work.

I'd like to give the leg a slight flare like the HH models got and alter the abdomen lobster plate, but outside of that there's not much I can do.
I'm keeping the knee fins here to go with the gorget & hip plates, but otherwise they'd be going away along the abdomen plate for a lighter look.

The only things I can think of changing on top of that are the arms and maybe the back of the powerpack, suboden has a nice one with a vent.

Probably not, but they're just so bland. It's nice they toned down the crested knee pads and I can live with the chest plate on chest plate and even the hub caps if I have to, but the backpack just kills the look; never mind the dinner plate in the middle of it, the silhouette just ruins the aesthetic, it looks like it was rounded off to be safe for children.
The Mk8 helmet looks so much better, but still not as good as the Mk7.
I can't help but feel that GW is slowly and reluctantly coming round to the idea that primaris just don't look as good as the Mk7s.

I know, and at this point GW has basically stopped doing Loyalist/CSM parity at all anyway, so not like it will ever happen at this point.
I would be pretty much equally satisfied with a Chaos unit that was some kind of Daemon engine Land Speeder equivalent with the same general gameplay purpose and size, even if it wasn't literally a Land Speeder. Could always proxy in a Land Speeder if I felt like it at that point.

objectively, a new edition box set that didn’t have marines shoehorned in would be worth remembering because it would be a complete breakaway from established norms. also yes, its pretty obvious from the marine side of this set that GW has nothing new to offer for marines, so if they were to actually do guard (who have plenty of models in need of refreshing) it would be a far better box set than what we currently have.

It may or may not be Orky, but Orks could and should develop the ability to have working TV's. Just imagine the endless entretainment that could be broadcasted, from Ork jackass camp that puts their humie prisoners into jackass-type of deadly stunts and laugh as they see a humie get punted into the stratosphere by a trukk, or Animal Planet featuring warboss Squig Irwin taming a great white squig while holding a grot, with Billy Mays-styled advertisements for all the stuff Mekboyz are selling. Hell, wire the TV to a juiced up weirdboy and you'll get an interdimensional broadcast to warhammer fanatsy, or at least just the Blood Bowl channel.

It was crap compared to the legendary kino FW legion dreads

not any of them, but to be fair, its still an objectively good set that has since gone out of print, so admiration doesn’t necessarily require owning them especially if they now cost way more than they’re worth because of how OOP prices work. also, if you picked up the box 14 years ago its likely now under a sea of other models you’ve gotten since then, so its far less convenient to dig through your pile of models than to just pull out an image of them which also gives a good idea of what was in the set unlike your models which you split and then took a blurry photo of 14 years after.

I'm here because as much as I hate what it has become, this website is home to me. Traditional forums are all but deal outside of placed like Lead Adventure. Reddit blows major ass, Discord groups are just circlejerks and online grooming gangs. I like coming here, being anonymous, hearing genuine takes and shitposts and shills and knowing it is more real than most places online. The only bad part is people like Fecal and Whiteagle/NiceDaemonette who infest and run rampant with their bad taste and fetishes.

I think GW does it because it's cheap, normalfags love their "collectors edition" type poses, and it actually takes a lot of real estate on the sprue, inflating the kit.
I genuinely despise tactical rocks, they shouldn't be a thing in a miniature wargame and even less so in a product I buy.
If GW wanted to do a Tactical Rock Kit I wouldn't have an issue; keep it a choice.

>inb4 just remove it
I do when I can, but 9/10 the mini isn't flush on the rock and needs to rest on something.

I'd say tactical rocks are the sign of a terrible designer, if you can't have a characterful miniature without resorting to adding extra shit onto the model, especially to make it literally stand out of the crowd, you're a talentless hack. This goes for increasing the height/size of a character compared to a regular trooper. Keep it the same size, leave the "bigger is better" shit for orks and nids

Honestly, tactical rocks are the least it, at least if it's just a rock it will still fit into a wide variety of environs.
But then you have shit like the new Red Terror. Awesome model, but the fact that it literally has imperial statuary bolted directly onto the model limits so much about what you can do with it in terms of basing themes.

This is exactly what I mean by "collector's edition" type shit. This is the kind of figurine I'd get by buying the 300+ version of a video game, but bigger and possibly painted a tad worse.

A tactical rock, even small, is enough to make me reconsider buying a mini, the size of the tactical rock is only proportional to the disrespect towards the customer (me).
>>
>>97984243
>AoS

>>
>>97984252
ntab I do agree with the sentiment that "true" kitbashing is getting a few kits together and switching parts around to make something great, but with the way kits are structured today it's a hassle, takes hours of planning, cutting and cleaning.
I love using old kits, still have a few stashed away, but for modern kits I'd rather get some (high quality) printed stuff.
>>
>>97984214
I don’t get it. I know from a general business perspective its better to increase prices, and reduce sprue size, but they’re not spending more resources by replacing any would be extra bits for a bit tactical rock. if anything, this seems to be bad from a business standpoint because it disincentivizes people to buy multiple weirdboys because they would look the exact same.
>>
>>97984082
They literally showed off the sprue yesterday, go look yourself
>>
>>97984291
I think the people who are buying multiple weirdboys are for the most part waac/meta fags who don't care for that stuff anyway. Actual "normal" players are not who GW is looking at.
>>97984292
nta but the leviathan sternguard vets didn't have that feature while the multipart kit does have it, I don't think the ETB sprues are a good metric.

By AI Overview google
Rogal Dorn was largely considered a stoic, detached figure, but he maintained close, albeit professional, bonds with a few brothers—notably Horus Lupercal before the heresy—and deeply respected his sons, particularly Sigismund, despite their eventual philosophical differences.Key Brotherly Relationships:Horus Lupercal: Before the Heresy, Dorn and Horus were quite close, with lore suggesting they made an "oath in blood" to each other when campaigning together.Perturabo: Though they became rivals, early lore hints that had their egos and the Emperor's actions not interfered, they could have respected each other, though true friendship never formed.Malcador the Sigillite: While not a brother, deep respect for Malcador, particularly during the building of the Imperial Palace.Relationships with His Sons (Imperial Fists):Sigismund: As his First Captain, Sigismund was perhaps the closest "son" to him, though Dorn was strict. Even when Sigismund defied him by developing a faith-based combat philosophy, Dorn’s harsh reaction hid a deep, underlying care for his chosen champion.General View of Sons: Dorn cared deeply for the Imperial Fists, molding them into stoic, unbreakable soldiers and nurturing them with high standards rather than emotional closeness.Dorn generally focused on the "truth" and his duty, often appearing cold or distant, limiting close emotional friendships.

I really like red but think Evil Sunz schemes tend to look shit so I'm thinking about going goff with red points of interest.

But in the lore, goffs apparently hate bright colours and thinks shooting's for wusses and only ride trukks to get to battle faster. So how can I justify goff deffkoptas, warbikes and the like

Why is it that people are only picky about paint jobs on 4chan? Most of the armies I see at the lgs have fairly basic paint.

Autists tend to be more serious and passionate than those neurotypic*ls who care only about socializing, yes.
>>
>>97984922
I feel as much distaste for the pajamas-at-walmart level paint jobs I see in person as I do online, but it's a lot more socially acceptable to be real with people online than irl where encouraging someone to apply themselves is an attack on their tiktok and fast food induced coma-state and violates the "no conflict for any reason ever" regime of irl social interaction.

You don't need to be fixated on trains or jerk off to furry porn to feel contempt for lazy faggots.

What is a "basic" paintjob? Laziness. You have all these tools, this thing you choose to do, you probably have a desk at least partially dedicated to this entirely optional craft and what do you choose to produce? Nothing. Waste. Waste of time. Waste of energy. Waste of your limited life. It's such a waste of life to be bad at the things you do. To not care. It's embarrassing to walk around with low effort models for the same reason it's embarrassing to walk around fat and poorly dressed.

If you're going to choose a hobby, why not apply yourself? It's so fucking lame to suck.

Its still kinda bad, but I’m happy to say that the one I went to wasn’t THAT greedy, they didn’t have a no outside drinks or even search my bag, and the drinks there were pretty reasonable at one dollar above what you’d get at a convenience store, so it wasn’t too bad. also if you paid a $5 fee you got a tour called the “sugar stroll” they gave you some candy, popcorn, and a boba tea (pic related) which was really nice.

they dont though, the imperium is losing moreoften than not
you only hear of their victories generally rather than everything else that is crumbling around them

It's market-friendly grimdark. We wouldn't want to scare away consumers by being actually grimdark, now would we? Hahaha.

>>97985211
you only hear the success stories. everywhere there aren’t hundreds of space marines the imperium is getting ravaged, and it means that their slowly getting whittled down by attrition. hannibal was in a similar state, major roman L after major roman L, but he still ended up losing badly because the romans just skirted around him.
>>
>>97985209
that’s honestly so weird because despite all his flaws, he was still a workhorse powering through painting all those sloppy paint jobs. do you think he might deep down be demotivated from painting because he’s been bullied so long for his shit paintjobs or is there some other reason for this stoppage?
