The issue is the OSR is a very brought category of games and honestly should be one thread. However the long time osrg thread has a very, very narrow view of that and do not allow any talk outside that narrow view.

The issue comes up that any OSR thread posted gets trolled to oblivion by the osrg trolls. To such a post they make a 150 posts in a few hours. Anything conversation starts they pile on the trolling.

So by the time it hits 250 posts it's only the trolls. Which means a new thread it made, some conversation happen, then the osrg trolls start. And the cycle repeats.

It will keep going into the mods reign in the osrg trolls or every OSR gamer flees the site

Another way to explain it. Look at the battletech general thread. It would be like those guys saying, only 3025 is battletech, nothing more. Not clans, not dark ages, not MechWarrior dark ages, alpha strike or even aero tech. No sure, that is off topic and enforced by the mods.

Some someone starts a 2nd BT thread, but every time they do the trolls from the OG thread troll it endlessly and call everyone fishfag and cliam every single poster is that one poster.

The few trolls that have ruined the /osrg/ changed the OP only a few months ago, declaring it a "clarification" when it was changing the entire basic definition of OSR and demanding everyone accept their limited definition.

Have you been to the thread lately? That thread used to have great discussions about maps and dungeons, informed discussions (usually debates) about specific rules, and awesome recommendations for basically any taste. Now they just groom each others’ opinions and congratulate themselves.

A few years ago I went there and asked about modules or sourcebooks for an escape-from-slavery game, one guy told me to run a funnel (because that was the meme at the time), another guy recommended an excellent free adventure on the subject and that was how I discovered Blood and Bronze. What I’m saying is that the memers are still there and the informed posters aren’t. It already happened. Back then, people would occasionally draw one of the quality posters into the “what is OSR” argument, and they would basically say “I don’t actually care and I like a lot of post-TSR games but I won’t always talk about them because I don’t want to start another shit-show”. You can’t expect them to keep doing that forever.
