Finished two more dudes, almost done with the whole killteam.

Never liked gunpla models. Have yet to encounter one that I liked even with a good paintjob.
Anon did a good job on his though.

Don't really like tau aesthetics that much. Some paintjobs make me like it more though. Generic tau infantry is the one I like most.
The paintjob makes the model for me so I guess I could find a gunpla i liked if I bothered to actually look for one.

what kind of paint job? for me I like tau because of the concept but I dislike the execution. I feel like I am part of the target audience that is supposed to like the robots, but in my opinion they did everything wrong to appeal to me beyond the basic idea. they are supposed to be like gundams but they get all of the design expectations wrong.

GW needed to lean into the anime tropes of T'au way harder. When they animated crisis suits actually moving in that one cgi short, the motions looked boringly realistic and normal. They should be jetting around and pulling crazy anime maneuvers while cutting to close in shots of the pilots sweating and gasping and struggling to survive the G forces.

the base decor doesn't work with the minis. Look into actually re-painting the lichen and foliage. Right now, the contrast between natural material and painted plastic is too stark.

I like to cover my gunpla in a carapace of putty to make them look like insects.

I think I'm done with the scorpion-men. Next I need to varnish them once the weather improves. Does it make a difference if I varnish them multiple times?

Got quite far on my venoms this weekend. Would rather paint warhams than go to work, but such is life. Happy how crispy the highlights came out on this one.

About those cubes, it was "just" Bandai engineering department flexing their muscles since it's really only a cube connector piece, it had zero reasons for being color separated like that.

Working on a diorama with this mini as the centerpiece. The sword should be the main point of illumination, so I also plan on doing a lens flare effect with plastic card.
Should I make the sword brighter and introduce yellow? Maybe some neon yellow?
