Would East Asians and especially the Japanese warm up to Warhammer 40k more if their codexes had anime art in them?

What anime artist would be perfect for anime art in Warhammer 40k codexes fitting the tone?

I think Warhammer 40k would experience an even bigger surge in popularity if it adopted anime art that still retains a dark "grimdark" tone while still being recognizably anime.
The women have to be attractive too like anime girls generally are.

Hetza Hellshock comes to my mind. I hope he is doing alright. I think GW would treat him badly though.
I am not sure if GW would ever have Japanese artists make such a thing unless it meant big bucks for bongland from East Asia.

Depends entirely on points. If they're like 250-300 points then it's fine. If they're like 180 it's absolutely not fine.

That's how I see it. Exo-Toas went a bit above and beyond things like combiners by being made as a standalone build that can fit another with minimal to no modifications with each other, and I don't think they ever repeated the same suit concept for other vehicles and mounts? Kind of dipped out of Bonkles halfway into Metru Nui. But they're also only really used to fight anthropomorphic orbs and the dragons leading them than full-on battlefields, so the dissonance fluff-wise isn't as relevant for them.

Geedubs on the other hand had a decade-long gap between the Dreadknight and Paragon when it comes to designing exo suit-like designs for the Imperium, also having the Invictor from the year before or so. Centurions were also a thing during this gap, and seemingly have a more favorable disposition despite or in favor of the memes. Aesthetically, I'd also think the Paragon doesn't really have the same edge or glam that the rest of the SoB range has to offset such an awkward design, either.

Anime, no. Manga artist that would nail 1st to 3rd ed 40k though Nihei Tsutomu with ease.
A lot of the other great horror and dark scifi manga artists would fit brilliantly alongside the fucked up illustrations of early 40k.
>>
>>98756663
There are significantly larger changes made to custodes than marines though. Each one is almost twice as powerful, the regular infantry goes from 3W to 5W.
>>
So now that regular boltguns and bolt pistols have the same stats as bolt rifles and heavy bolt pistols, can they just remove them?

Kouta Hirano would never finish his hypothetical Warhammer 40k anime artwork on time for Games Workshop.
Kentaro Miura would be great if he wasn't lazy too and was still alive.
The other ones are good artist choices.

I want to see Seras Victoria as a Sister of battle now. Instead of the huge guns she used, it could be an autocannon held like a heavy bolter.

I also now want my heavy weapons teams (with mortar and missile launcher exceptions) holding their guns like pic related.

While the technical and machinery side of Hirano is certainly there I'd rather he was focusing on demons and other general warp fuckery considering what Alucard gets up to when he's allowed to flex his powers.
>>
why does GW hate scarab occult terminators so fucking much
at this rate they'll cost 500 pts for a 10-man squad by the time the ksons codex releases
>>
>>98756703
That is an excellent point. I think Hirano is a bit of a gun nut autist too. He'd probably have autism over some gun designs like that bullpup plasma boltgun that gets meme'd on.
But he'd probably make the weapons of Warhammer look better and maybe even functional.
Now I'm curious how he would handle ork weaponry.

While I don't think there's a one size fits all I would personally pick someone like Ishikawa ken because of how well he depicts chaotic mutation, flames and massive scale machinery in a way that fits the setting. Or Go Nagai because of how much he has drawn that is inspired by the same Baroque paintings that inspired early 40k art.

>Exorcists are now 180 for your 2nd, 40 point increase now only on the 3rd
>Vahl up 15 points, but Paragons down 15 so nothing actually changed for the brick
>Celestine down to 135
>Insidiants down to 115
>Hallowed Martyrs gained Take and Hold disposition option
These changes feel like they were told to move numbers around a bit but to not really change anything either. Celestine is still overcosted for her lack of utility on-field.
I wonder how Take&Hold Martyrs will play.

>Hellhound down 10 points
>Bullgryns up 30 for your 3rd unit
>All guard indirect fire vehicles up 30 points for the 3rd (who was running these?)
>Deathstrike up 20 for your 3rd (again, who?)
>Lord Solar and Yarrick down 10, Dreir down 5
>Grizzled Company gained Purge the Foe disposition option
These changes seem weird; the only one that I could see coming was the Bullgryn point increase because of spamming them becoming more popular. Grizzled gaining PtF will also see it spike in popularity. The Hellhound decrease is good though, I hope to see more of them around.
Guard is not in a good spot in terms of tourney play and the units that went up in cost (excluding Bullgryns) don't see much play (if any at all), I don't know how or where these increases came from.

Necrons sometimes being annoying to play against has little to do with how you play them

You get

If you park them next to something like a ballistus with the reroll 1s aura and get 2 rounds of shooting into elites or light vehicles, which with 48 range is not outside the realm of possibility, you're almost guaranteed to make back your points likely just with the krak alone.

Chaos black and retributor gold aren't primers. GW changed their rattle cans to make them easier to ship. Also it's good practice when using metallics as the main color to give them a black undercoat to help them shine.
>>
>>98757256
The people who made the "legendary proxies" decision are not the same ones who made the "walk back the legendary proxies" decision

GW does not do anything smartly in the game side of the equation.
Updating all same-weapon profiles at once (like bolters, flamers, meltas and lascannons) should be a matter of using a fucking spreadsheet and updating them all at once, but they drip-feed instead because they still do it in this convoluted way of writing the same rule under each faction instead of making each faction refer to the same central database.
"Consumer goodwill and how to build and retain it" seems to not be an idea that GW has ever been introduced to.

I think it's more that the book nostromo is based on what he saw happening to poland at the time, and saw the same thing happening in south america.
More about how the planet fell the same way south america and poland at the time did

The NL MO is way more like the mexican cartel of terror and shit. I just think nostromo the planet itself is probably a mixture of the two

>>98757286
Well from the short amount of audio books I've read they give the NL an eastern european accent for some reason. The mexican part comes is mostly just how the cartel operate on fear and stuff

I'll probably have a better idea once I actually read the book. I wanted to start off with an easier read with Revenant Blade before diving into something old and harder to read

That’s an issue in and off itself, but the legendary proxies thing is kind of a whole other level of stupid.
>sneak a change on ork players while Mpre actively announcing it for marine players
>apparently get enough pushback from the players they have to do a rare reverse course
>announce it in a stream
>give a timeframe of weeks to months after the codexes are out
>a lot of people still pissed because they don’t know you walked it back in a stream
>do the thing that was pissing people off anyway more

You would think the obvious answer is “oh these where slatted for removal to, but we didn’t mention it. Let’s just not touch the, and port the 10th edition sheets over”
I guess best case scenario we do this stupid shir and then some time between November into the new year a legends PDF is shit out with at least hopefully most of the missing stuff resorted (I don’t have much hope for proxy characters since they tend to disappear between editions)

You're going to get a lot of conflicting responses because people use what they like and shit on what they don't. All of the popular brands (army painter, vallejo, citadel, scale75, AK, tamiya, pro acryl, two things coats all off the top of my head) are serviceable, have their own ups and downs, and only differ by like $2-3 a bottle so they're "about" the same price.
For bright, cartoony colors? I would recommend looking at the "game color" range of Vallejo, or pro acryl. If you want REALLY bright paints (like neon colors) look at fluorescent ranges from the different retailers.
Stick to acrylics for beginning paints because enamels and oils can fuck up your models/brushes. All of the brands I listed above should sell acrylics as their base.
>starter sets
I'd err against these unless you absolutely have a plan for the included paints ahead of time. They're typically good for starting a "paint collection" in that it'll give you a fine selection of primary colors and maybe a metallic or wash, and orks have a lot of flexibility in their color schemes. Try looking at the different green paint triads (aka multiple shades of green for brighter and darker detailing) and see what sticks out, I mentioned vallejo game color above because I've been quite happy with their results in the past.

Grand Master in Dreadknight (with Psycannon and Sublimator): 240p
10 man Paladin Squad (with two Psycannons): 500p
2x 10 man Purifier Squads: 580p

That's 1320 points

Let's add the Combat Patrol:
Castellan Crowe: 105p
Venerable Dreadnought: 130p
5 man Paladin Squad (with one Psycannon): 235p
Interceptor Squad: 270p

The Combat Patrol + Battleforce is 2060 points.

Leaked points are 250 points for a basic squad of 3 Custodian Guards, 270 for 3 Allarus, 290 for 3 Wardens and 230 for small Dreads. Which is also compatible to what GW said about the Combat Patrol being around 1000 points and having 6 guards, a Dreadnought, 1 Captain and 3 Venatari.

Here's my collage submission for the "retro" theme. I got the model super late from my friend this Sunday as this was the oldest model he could part ways with, 5th ed. captain from the starter box that came out it in 2008. I really wanted to paint him in more retro colors, using bright yellow instead of gold and a more vivid blue but sadly I don't have the paints nor an easy access to more stuff so had to do with what I had in hand. Collage anon let me know if it's a valid submission, it's an 18 years old model but might not be retro enough so I'd understand if its not.
Tried to write the name Ignacio and the UM icon on the shoulder, free handing is impossible. I also can't paint the faces guys, thinking of just priming spare head bits to practice it. And I need new brushes, I really don't have a small one that can keep its tip sharp. The paint on the rim hasn't even dried yet, I hope I'm not late.

So this comes up a lot and is a really important rule but I've seen people straight up contradict each other.

When a model is leading a unit, and has a "while leading a unit" ability, does it retain that ability when every model in the bodyguard unit dies?

My impression is that the answer is yes, they're selected as leading a unit during the list construction, and it doesn't matter that the unit they're leading happens to be dead at the moment. Because they're considered one unit for rules purposes as soon as they're selected together during list construction.

So the next question is, is the opposite true? Does a leader model retain the special rules of their bodyguard unit after the bodyguard unit dies? The intuitive guess, based on the opposite scenario above, is that yes, a leader unit with dead bodyguard models still has the special rules of that unit, since they are all selected together as a unit during list construction, and the fact that all of the bodyguard happen to be dead at the moment doesn't change that. But I'm not sure. A perfect, common example is whether or not Vahl has +1 against vehicles when all 3 Paragons are dead.

The times at which this matter, and the times where the answer is actually no, is when an ability specifically references keywords. A unit has all keywords of every model in the unit, and they actually do lose keywords as models are removed. For example, a unit of Bobs that has an attached Joe character, is considered both a "Bob" and "Joe" unit in terms of keywords, but if you kill all of the Bobs, it would lose the "Bob" keyword as soon as the last Bob is removed. In this instance, all strategems that say "Select a Bob unit" would stop applying.

>When a model is leading a unit, and has a "while leading a unit" ability, does it retain that ability when every model in the bodyguard unit dies?
Yes, because in 11th it's still considered to be the same unit even when the bodyguards are dead. In 10th, when a bodyguard died the leader unit would form a new a unit consisting the leader model. It also means the lone leaders need to take battleshock tests for being under half str, as they're no longer their own unit.

>Sailing through a wormhole in search of his lost Primarch, Svengar the Red finds himself and his men transported far beyond the rim of the galaxy, past even the Ghost Stars. The void is empty as a heretic's soul. Svengar's men begin to talk of whispered voices in the night, promising them safe haven. Unsure of his coordinates, Svengar presses on. Days pass into months. On the cusp of turning back, a dark planet is glimpsed in the distance. The Space Wolves head towards the distant orb, expecting trouble. Instead they find a civilisation of tall, fair people who live in opulent luxury of their own making, far from the war and confusion of the galactic core. Relieved to have found a base of operations, Svengar and his men begin to relax and enjoy themselves, feasting and recounting tales of their deeds to the fair people of the far-flung world. It is only when Svengar makes a casual pass at one of their women that the Space Wolves realize their hosts are not people at all. Though they fight bravely, Svengar and his men are never seen again.

Damn the Space Wolves are traveling into unknown galaxies lookin for their king, truly the most loyal soldiers.

Ok so after reading the rules here's my impression.

If a model conveys an ability to the unit they are a part of, that ability ends when the last model is destroyed. This is true of both leaders and bodyguards.

If a rule says "While leading a unit", the leader will retain that ability even if the bodyguards die, because they are leading a unit of dead people, and the rule is from their own datasheet.

A bodyguard unit stops conveying their rules to their unit when they die. Since it's on their datasheet, and they're all gone.

So the rule of thumb is that models stop conveying their rules to a unit when they are all gone, however they are still considered part of the unit even while dead for the purposes of "while leading" abilities. This is unfortunately not consistent but it is what it is.

So in the Vahl example, Vahl would lose the +1 against vehicles when the last Paragon dies. Because that ability is actually from the paragons. But she would retain her own "while leading a unit" ability, because she is leading a unit (decided during list construction) and them being dead doesn't remove rules from herself. She would only lose their rule, which is the +1, when they die, but would retain her own rerolls, since she's till leading a unit, regardless of how many of them are dead.

I think this is correct, hopefully someone can correct if any of it is not the case.

Like how many custodes are there even? Probably only like 10 000, maybe?
As strong an individual custodes is, they just can't patrol an area that's like the size of fucking Eurasia, it just isn't physically feasible to them.
Obviously they would have to "outsource" some of the guard duty on the other sections of the Imperial Palace to regular humans who are the serfs of the custodes/part of the so called "court" who live within the walls of the Imperial Palace.

>Like how many custodes are there even? Probably only like 10 000, maybe?
The fluff goes out of its way to say that "the ten thousands" is like some propagandistic name for them, more than an actual number, which to me implies there's way fewer than that, and that they have to keep up the façade of an impenetrable defence to imperials and enemies alike.
If marine chapters can do outstanding things with only a thousand men, then one thousand sounds like a fair number for the total amount of custodes as well.
Maybe there were once 10000 at the time of the emperor but they died during the heresy or during the following thousands of years of slow attrition and can't replenish their ranks efficiently because the emperor is no more.

It would certainly justify better why they sat on their asses doing nothing for so long, they're too irreplaceable to lose, while now a primarch has ordered them to go out and shit is hitting the fan fast so they are forced to move out.

>Vahl +15 Paragons -15
What a perfect example of a nothingburger. I guess there are a few people out there that do use a second Paragon unit with no leader who did just get a nice buff I guess, but the vast majority just use the one unit.

>The third Castigator is now more expensive than 2 Castigator+1 Exorcist
This is fine and I was already doing that setup so nothing changed here. I actually think the Castigator is generally better than the Exorcist, so many people might just stay the same, but there's a solid case for 2 Cas+1 Exo over 3 Cast now.

>Insidiants -5 points
Tiny change that doesn't mean much, and these guys were already popular as a 1 or 2 of in lots of competitive lists so I'm not sure what the point was.

None of these changes really address the issue with Sisters, which is that they retain a 50% win rate off the power of just Vahl and Sacresants pretty much. If you watched the finals of the London Open, you will have seen that the SoB player won simply because Vahl ran around with the Hallowed Martyrs buff and being revived by the hallowed martyrs revive strategem and he won the game with only special characters for the last 2 turns that had both been revived by the strategems. His Insidiants did a few things too. I'm really tired of Vahl running around killing everything and then people saying "Look, they have a 50% win rate, it's fine". I would like it if they made Vahl worse, and moved that power into the battleline, jump infantry, non-named characters, Retributors, etc. My favorite thing about SoB is that they have overlapping synergistic special rules (immoltors remove cover, castigators improves ap, Exorcist/Retributors do the damage) but none of that matters because you're actually just supposed to slap Vahl into the middle of the field and the rest of your army pushes the Priority Assets button. But hey, 50% win rate! So there's no problem!

My guys are actually starting a narrative campaign this weekend.
We’ve decided to stick with the 10th crusade rules and the late edition supplement books, while homebrewing the absolute shit out of the rules, armies, and units so they feel closer to how they should play.
A few of the house rules so far
>Brough back templates, but only for indirect and blast weapons because we thought would be fun.
>Friendly fire rules for the same reason. Basically shooting into melee 1s count as hits on freindly units and they roll the usual resolutions for that
>Adeptus Mechanicus can take Knights as keyword Admech units, and they get a knock off version of Fate that lets them add to the result of a roll.
>BA If a unit fails more than one Morale check in a game, they fall to the Black Rage. They gain movement and attack buffs, but that unit stays Raged until it’s replaced or destroyed in the campaign.
>IW get Fellhammer as their default army rule instead of a detachment, and lose Dark Pacts in return.
>WE can challenge (or be challenged by) an enemy character to a duel once per game. It plays out as a mini-phase until the duel is over.
Stuff like that.
I also put together a flowchart for the campaign based on which side is winning battles, with a few narrative bottleneck points for cool stuff to happen and armies to shin at their specialization.
The whole thing is built around about 10 battles total, split between two super factions. Players share points and RP, and it’s designed for drop in/drop out so people can jump in whenever they’re free. That way if the balance ends up totally fucked, we can still knock the whole campaign out in a three or four get togethers.

> When a model is leading a unit, and has a "while leading a unit" ability, does it retain that ability when every model in the bodyguard unit dies?
Yes. Units are formed in your list now instead of joined together in deployment.
> is the opposite true? Does a leader model retain the special rules of their bodyguard unit after the bodyguard unit dies?
No, if the bodyguard models are gone, the rules they grant the unit are gone, same with supports who can heal or rez models.
This came up at London GT this last weekend, where a unit comprised of Typhus and some Poxwalkers was down to Typhus alone. The Poxwalkers have an ability that restores models if an enemy model is killed, and a second rule that says if Typhus is leading the unit and kills an enemy model, it counts as if a Poxwalker did it. The rules aren’t dependent on Typhus gaining the poxwalker keyword in his unit, yet they still do not activate without a Poxwalker model present.

>Are there better looking stores?
NTA
The Games Workshop store I bought my first minis from 15ish years ago at least had the old stylized logo as a freestanding sign bolted onto the building above the door instead of plain white text on a black background. That store now (as of me going by it 3 months ago) has the only indication of it being anything as the word "Warhammer" in plain white text on a black backgrounded sheet of metal bolted to the wall above the door.
I live in the US, so it's not a "UK has sovlful stores" thing either.
>>98757998
>I'm really tired of Vahl running around killing everything and then people saying "Look, they have a 50% win rate, it's fine"
This has been how I've pointed out the issue with the faction for months now. Sisters players point out this problem, people who don't play Sisters handwave it because reasons.
Winning =/= good state if every win is the exact same thing relying on the same units and abilities. Vahl is too essential to the army, but giving a sidegrade to her would end with both getting nerfed.
The SoB changes are a nothingburger that won't fix any issues with the faction at-large languishing in irrelevancy while being propped up by a few units and abilities that carry the entire roster.

Well my list went up 40pts with the MFM, and I need to make a little change to my ironstorm speeders list.

I'm swapping a second land speeder out for an impulsor to put 3 eradicators inside. What is the best equipment option for the transport for those guys? I don't have the points for scout, so it's really just down to the missile launcher and shield dome for me.

5++ or an extra S10 AP2 d3+3D shot with rerolls access?

The invuln doesn't matter until you hit AP3, particularly if I'm not able to AOC with it. But the missile launcher isn't the end all be all, and doesnt ignore cover like the rest of my speeders.

If I had points for scout, I think that would be the best option, but I don't want to swap that much around to get it. I'm leaning towards the invuln, since the single extra shot won't have ignores cover like the other speeders.

Also I'm fully aware I can't use any of the strats or enhancements from Ironstorm on the speeders or impulsor, I'm taking it exclusively for the Purge disposition and the hit and wound reroll, since those still work on the speeders and DT.

Brand recognition I think. The pots are deliberately defective for paint spills and for drying paint. Worse than the Coat D'arms styled paint pots. Those can be placed upside down for important pigments to be reused. And their textured caps can be used as handles as the caps easily grip to poster tack.

I think GW is "holding onto" a dropper bottle design for when their paint sales dip and need to reformulate their paint line. Obviously not now given that tone paints are coming.

That was my initial thought as well. Makes it just as defensive as the vengeance speeders. The plan was to keep the eradicators inside for as long as possible, but in the chance I want to fling the erads upfield to get in melta range he's just sitting around with bolters. Nothing that big of an issue, really.

There's a world where I even swap my other land speeder to get BOTH of my eradicators into impulsors, but I dont really have anything that can fit in the remaining 40pt spot, then.

GK on mary sue, they were there to placate people in roundabout way for the similar power fantasy, they're even silver to their gold for Christ's sake. Then they were made to die a lot against big beaters like sending away Mortarion and Angron, and then there were the months of shame fiasco where they were embarassed in order to glaze wolves. Almost zero plot armor beyond the ability to somehow make it to M.42.999
On plot armor technically custodes but theirs is funny in a way that theirs tends to turn off at random moments leading to some of the most random deaths like it's a comedy.

I don't think GW would be dumb enough to "End Times" Warhammer 40k then reboot it like they did with Warhammer Fantasy to Age of Sigmar.
As contradictory as it sounds. I think 7th edition and then Cadia getting buck broken was the "End Times" for Warhammer 40k. But I guess there was a "change of plans" and only half the galaxy is now in darkness with a few "lantern spots" like Ultramar and basically any old lore areas with a fan following.

Are you referring to the incident you referenced?
I am just tired as the "line" between 40k and Horus Heresy is slowly being eroded away. This means that it is alright to talk about 40k. Primarchs are already here. The siege of terra is over and now the milking of it is gonna go to the Scouring era. May as well stop pretending the settings are different now.
>After making that comment I even popped.over to /hhg/ to see if any of you fags tried.to take your lore talk over there and you didn't.
Well yeah. HH is more "specialist" in that it focuses on the Horus Heresy era. It doesn't mean HH stuff should be verboten here.

>So anyone who talks about primarchs here are disingenuous faggots who just want to shit up this general with offtopic mahvel bs
That isn't true. But I understand your frustration. Marvel's "success" has made companies look at it with envious eyes and proceed to try and take "inspiration" from Marvel even if it means downgrading their IPs for the sake of trying to get that Marvel popularity. The problem is something being "Marvel" isn't clearly defined if it ever was.

It is like calling every fantasy thing "Warcraft" it isn't defined. I only played Warcraft 3.
What counts as "Marvel" do you?

>I don't know how you don't get this.
In my defense I'm not much of a Marvel guy so I am not entirely familiar with Marvel dialogue or what counts as "Marvel" in fictional writing. I can understand the Primarchs being treated as superheroes in Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy. What I don't understand is shit like Marvel quips or Marvel dialogue.
Maybe it is for the best that I don't ever understand it?
>Primarchs show up in a story and take front and centre stage. Everyone else gets pushed to the back and becomes "goons" while they pick weightless fights with each other, free of any real consequence as we the audience know they won't die.
>It's just straight up superhero schlock
I think that's more akin to certain characters hogging the spotlight away from other places. With Imperial Armour's death we don't get "irrelevant warzones" in Warhammer 40k "literally who sectors."
I still get your frustration with how Primarch discussion is one of the things that the Decalautist who basically is an annoying buzzing fly always coming back for more swat-downs by the jannies. That I can say I understand.

I'll need some SW paints, Vallejo GC's SW colors seem locally available. Sombre Grey, Steel Grey, Wolf Grey as in Shadow, Base, Highlight colors. They also sell AK 3rd gen for I found some lighter tone Vallejo paints to bubble up though I don't know which colors to get.

Not trying to be too mean or offensive but you really just seem heavily autistic and taking things too literally. You don't need to know Marvel writing/dialogue specifically to get what people are saying when they use the terms capeshit/mahvelslop. Marvel is just used in this negative superhero terminology because they're the biggest producer of superhero shlock and they pissed plenty of people off by churning out low effort movies, mahvel fanboys were also insufferable around the time they were doing so. But all of the things I pointed out here >>98758977 don't require a degree in mahvel to understand, they are just generic superhero story things. Even in say, Gaunt's Ghosts you know deep down Gaunt will not die, but Abnett still puts him in very dangerous situations and it doesn't feel like he's entirely invulnerable. This is simply not the case with primarchs, everything about them feels like capeshit, and that's on purpose because the HH series was being written at the height of Marvel's success

Like start with black primer and then heavy drybrush the color as a basecoat that will be the most prominent and then proceed with the details after details.

You got me good there. It is alright man.
>>98759110
I reread your post that you highlighted in the thread (if that is you) and I see it now. The problem is more than just Primarchs hogging the attention. It is that their stories are going to mean a "hollow victory" if that is the correct word where nobody really loses so the status quo can be maintained yet the events are always dressed up as "this time things will definitely be different we promise."
And the "wolf is cried too much" to the point where nobody believes it anymore. Some just need more "false wolf crying" to eventually get the message.
Is that what you mean or am I more dense than tungsten or both?
>>98759123
What metallic acrylic paints do you recommend that mimic the fantastical tones of Citadel metallics? Ak 3rd gen metallics seem a bit "too realistic" with real world metallics if that makes sense. Hopefully since Vallejo made true metallic metal (I've read of bubbling issues) that AK follows up with their own option.

I guess those are the "most visible symptoms" before the little things are taken into consideration.
In your opinion, what could be a solution to try and reverse this marvel superhero problem in 40k? I don't know of a solution.
>But
I think campaigns in "irrelevant backwater worlds" where it doesn't matter if there is a victory or not could help instead of everything having to take part in areas of the galaxy that will "threaten Terra for real this time."

Oddly enough I think the nature of some Imperial Armour 40k campaigns being in areas where they don't matter and will never be known or remembered or dare I say missed made them more appealing somehow. Yet 40k lore things like psychic awakening that will totally change the 40k setting forever are generally forgotten and mentions of them feel more like "cameos" than anything else.
Any idea why this is so if a word for this phenomenon exists?

Okay I'll check out a store that sells game, model, and mecha, true metallic metal and even the metal color stuff. A small batch. Fingers crossed they are good.
If the bubble issue is as real and bad as people say it is, I hope it is fixed. I always thought Vallejo were big innovators in the acrylic paint development sphere.
>>
>>98759222
>what could be a solution to try and reverse this marvel superhero problem in 40k?
By never having written the HH series. Most of the OG GW guys believed in the HH remaining as a lost and undefined period of history. It and primarchs were background fluff that gave context to 40K, but didn't need to be autistically fleshed out in excruciating detail. Doing so takes away a lot of the gravitas and intrigue of what's supposed to be a dark and mysterious era. Then GW saw Marvel doing really well and wanted a slice of that pie (and very vocal fans were pushing for more and more HH info) and so they did the dreaded book series. The cat is out of the bag now though, and it can't be shoved back in, the best thing to do is ignore/actively reject HH and primarch discussion

It's overblown and like I've said, it only happens in bright colors. You can just be careful and pop them as you apply. I got about 30 Vallejo paints and only the Bonewhite and Stonewall Grey has that issue and I painted 70 Neophytes' + 30 Acolytes' armor panels with the Stonewall Grey and had no issues. If you're not going to use lighter tones you don't even have to worry about a thing, and even when you do you'll be fine.

On a different note since you mentioned cloaks, I think greenstuffing fur coats should also be looked into. It seems Warhammer 40k models have a tradition where important characters get the fur cloak. Doesn't seem like a bad tradition. Just something worth mentioning.

>inb4 mix yellow and blue
This is the warhammer thread autism makes us allergic to color mixes.
>What wash do you guys use
I've made marine juice from Reikland fleshshade, lahmian medium and dark tone. Works fine as a go-to wash if I have no idea what to use. I have armypainter washes diluted 50/50 with speedpaint medium. I have my eyes on AK interactive's acrylic washes with the turquoise bottle caps. I imagine that their contrast paint medium would give a similar effect.
I think Citadel's shade paints mixed 50/50 with their contrast medium would also get a similar effect too. I'm not sure what the ingredient in the contrast medium+equivalents is that makes the shades behave the way they do in staining the model less but shading the details a bit more.

I've found that mentioning this tip and showing a Sonic Sledgehammer video of it in conversations with random LGS goers when the conversation goes to painting makes them become more friendly than they when were earlier. The LGS patrons are friendly already, but the mention makes them perk up every time seeing it. So I imagine the thing isn't very popular as oil washes right now.

I play Biosanctic at 1000pts and Host at 2000pts, I just don't have enough models currently to fully utilize other detachments. I've been eyeing Xenocreed Masses + Xenocult aka XenoXeno, you can run your Magus with 20 Neophytes who'll get +1 to hit & wound on character unit with Denunciator enhancement. Or Attach a Biophagus to your Metamorphs/Mining Tool acolytes unit and give them +1 attack/+1 weapon skill.
In my last game Mining Tool acolytes chewed down terminators and their chaplain in terminator armor by themselves, so the detachment that makes them hit extra hard now has my extra attention.

Did GW seriously try making the Broccoli hair zoomer cut on a 40k space marine?
The "fr fr ongod no cap goofy ahh" haircut?
I hope the youngsters have moved on from that language usage.

Imagine a space marine chapter that communicated only in internet broccoli hair zoomer slang.

I know it has been hours ago, but Wargames Atlantic stuff is good. It is just that as far as plastic alternative miniatures for conversions go. They are "baby's first" if that makes sense.
This isn't a bad thing. They are good choices for plastic model conversions. It is just that exploring more options to widen the pool is always good too.

Anon made the affirmative claim, the burden of proof is on him; affirmative claims without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Regardless, the WarCom post today explicitly only included space marines, pic related; the only appearance of SoB in the entire article being as the diorama opponents for Death Guard in an image.
They only mentioned Agents because of the Deathwatch and Grey Knights units in their roster. If SoB were getting the buff to their bolters, why not mention them even ONCE in this post, even in the closing paragraph just to assuage questions and concerns from readers?

>Second because they can massively mark things up because of how GW sells things.
>Third because you are ordering a battleboxes allowing them to charge you a compounding amount for each model type.

In theory buying just 1 type of model should be cheaper since you can make out a build plate with marines because 90% of the cost of machine time. You'd be better finding a local weeb with a printer and find the file then having him print you 20 sloppa marine batches for 3 hours machine time and like tree fiddy in resin.

Any primer that's made to stick to metal should do fine on electroplating. If you're worried, they do make high-adhesion primers to paint on but those are mostly in large quantities.
And while it won't work on 24karat solid gold, liver of sulfur should get some discoloration on electroplating and you can rub off the high points and let it settle in the creases, basically letting it act like nuln oil.

Yeah I noticed this, this has always bothered me because I know /3dpg/fags brag about spending 25 cents for a single intercessor that costs like 10 bucks on ebay or 6 if you divide a single gw box ten ways.

But the prooters are always charging a big markup which makes it less attractive to put your faith in a russian guy not fucking the resin up during the 6000 mile journey.

The Russian recasters are legit, my friends csm army is almost all Russian recast and it's really top quality. I don't know about their printing set ups though.
Personally I'm not sure which way I want to go. The models I want, not including what I have and what I would buy at my LGS to support them, would still cost me $1600+ cad retail to have a single max size squad, plus characters, of a most of the units (Eldar) in the codex. Not counting Quins or Ynnari. I've already got 500 ish points plus I'm planning to buy all the battleline stuff at the lgs.
I can buy a sick print set up for that money. But then I have to print all that shit out. Fuck with the settings, dispose of the iso, clean all that stuff, need a space to set it up, oh look something fucked up, time to troubleshoot, etc. or I can just buy them from a guy whos reviewed and been doing it for 8+ years and save 40-50%.

Elegoo printers even tell you the cost in pennies for each model you print.

As someone getting into printing who used to be a machinist on swiss lathes before the tedium made me want to 18 axis machine my own head the commercial economics of resin printing are strange.

Aside from the small cost of resin the only real way to price it is with machine time like machine tools but an automatic lathe the time for each part is fixed but with printers is based on the height of the build not how much shit is on the plate. So a tall Roboot Gillyman model could cost as much like 150 grots.
