Turtles of Grayskull (and MOTU in general) basically volcanically erupted with reveals yesterday. The new Turtles figures are up for pre-order on all your typical e-tailer sites. Two-Bopsteady and King SplinterSkull are of course deluxe Walmart exclusives so fuck you.

Haulathon has -officially- been announced finally. As we've all seen though, the first week's box of TMNT goodies are already hitting stores and can or cannot be found depending on how nice the workers are.

However the OFFICIAL start is April 7th for in-store, and April 12th for online drops, which will continue weekly. Same as it ever was.

>>
In response to my post in the last thread.
Yes, Bebop and Rocksteady are TOO big.
Theyre supposed to be shorter than Shredder, and iirc as big as the turtles.
>>
>>10927898
Weird. You're correct, but it never felt that way watching the show.
>>
>>10927914
Thanks for that size chart, and yea, they definitely come off as larger mutants.
Also, i dont necessarily mind the larger scale for the figures, its just.. i would like to see shorter versions of them for fun is all.
>>
>>10927793
What are the solid color Neca boxes?
>>
>>10927924
Single re-releases of the Toon Turtles.
>>
>>10927793
The hip turtles are probably the only things Ill be grabbing. The VHS turtles accessories aren't that great other than Donnie's spinning staff. Office Casey seems he'll be around for a while like the reissue Casey I still see in places. Maybe Kirby but I can wait since he's not exclusive.
>>
>>10927851
I actually like Mattel's work more than those Playmates attempts. Crazy.
>>
>>10927983
Same here, more than Neca's too. If only Mattel could get the master license of tmnt.
>>
>>10927780
depressing how much better this crossover line is than the vintage looking ones Mattel is making
>>
>>10928014
you mean the playmates walmart ones?
Yeah, the pickle skins lost my overall hype for them. Can't expect much from a company run by boomer Chinese men.
>>
>>10927772
Splinter's lookin pretty okay.. though they kept the weird Snoopy nose from the toy, that was based originally on the nose being mispainted from the sculpt, and that is a weird choice. This isn't a toyline fusion, right? are the turtles in their toy colors? does the two-headed bebop-rocksteady fusion have a helmet and blue glasses?
>>10927777
huh, Casey's in blue. maybe this is a toyline fu-
>>10927780
no no, that's 2012 mikey colors.
>>
>>10927851
ehh maybe minus the bugged-out eyes.
>>10927914
I definitely remember them looking bigger in their debut episode. the one time they were an actual threat (And the one time Rocksteady wore his helmet, and I wanna say a jacket too)
>>
>>10927914
Krang was definitely bigger than that on the show
especailly in his debut where he was easily a meter in diameter

>>

Yes there is because there is a pattern for preexisting figures being reused for Crossovers, but new molds made for crossovers like this or the X-Men one haven't been reused for anything.
>>
>>10928961
no, it's usually indicative that the retailer has a contract.
If a retailer gets a mold first, they have a 2-5 year exclusivity on that mold which usually renders it useless unless it's an evergreen character
They've talked about it on stream before.

>>
>>10928960
I just realized this combines features of the toon turtle van and the toyline party wagon. Particularly the spare tire holder / pizza, that's the party wagon version. Did the toon one have rear windows like that? has ANY version?
>>10928968
yeah but you realize they're made at the same time, right? They just choose which order to release them in, and typically the one that belongs partly to another company is the second one.
>>10928969
the fuck you say
>>
>>10928969
Is it not a case of mold exclusivity with the partnering company? Perhaps the mold being reuse or entirely new is dependant upon the licensor.
>>
>>10928978
>>10928974
the deals are negotiated independently, so they aren't always the same deal, yes.

Cassette mode Soundwave was a walmart exclusive mold, and as such they have to wait until next year (4 years on) to release it any other version of it.

The Jeep transformers from either of the jurassic park crossovers were new, and haven't gotten reused.

Stranger things had a van transformer that's definitely not getting used as he scales horribly with everyone else.

It's not a "never" it's a "it's unlikely the toy will fit with the direction of the line when we can finally reuse it for something"

Super7 mondo gecko is the MOST FUN toy i had in 2 years 100%
holy shit he's so much fun to play with. I always liked skateboarding figures and this sturdy big cool figure is 10/10.

I also noticed that his size allows him to use bigger figure's accessories. Some NECA and 1/6 figures stuff fits him well.

I already gave him a cloth-baseball cap from 1/6 figure and i bet an 1/6 coat will fit him.

I wanted to buy Scratch next and im sure he will look awesome wearing coat with that striped prison form visible under that coat

I like that it's a weird cat figure. I dont remember we ever got "actual cat" (not cartoon based like Puss in Boots or tiger/etc,).
It's also based on that "legendary" super rare retro figure.

I like that too, I just don't like the mismatched legs or the hideous face
I'm actually tempted, since he's so discounted, to customize him into a different guy.. but the only way I could see that working is if I bought two and swapped the legs. and I doubt either of the feet are symmetrical enough to have two lefts or two rights and still look okay. and then what, sand down the head til it looks less terrible? I think the part I hate most is the big square human teeth. I could maybe flatten that out and then etch a zigzag line in it so he has proper pointy teeth. not sure I have an etching tool though. .. could maybe.. paint over the eyes so the mask covers all down to a little angry white triangle a la the turtles...

I'm okay with a mutant who's missing a shoe or something, he's been through a lot. and if it's a girl, even better
but the feet should still be the same shape, otherwise it's awkward as shit. It's okay to have asymmetrical hands (though Joe Camel there gains nothing from his) because maybe one could be a big mutant fist or a crab claw or something, but ... feet, man. you can't walk with mismatched legs. especially one's digitigrade so your knees and ankles aren't even lined up.

>I wrote this in one day, well actually no I've been writing this for over a year
>this has been in my brain for years! I didn't just shit all this out!
everything is uninspired. but yeah I do love the concept and as anon said nobody calls this "flipping" except for the blacks that are actually doing the scalping. but of course jew boy isn't going to lean in to the fact that "flip life" is a black thing and he is too pussy to use the accepted term, scalper. which by the way would have opened up a ton of awesome stuff.
>Scalp-or
could have had scalped heads of competition in the toy aisles, like some obviously fat nerd with glasses type of thing, maybe even a child's head that was just some innocent kid who wanted to buy a toy. or store employees.
i'm not even going to continue with all the potential stuff because there is just so much that could have been done.
also the variants are nauseating and his nemesis is literally just a lame as fuck repaint.

it's quite tasty. There are so many different "giant eggs" for easter.
From Lord of The Rings and Game of Thrones and others (adult oriented, usually come with rings/jewerly/pins/etc. inside) to kids stuff like nintendo games/etc.

i dont think i ever had so much fun with "adult collectable" figure as with Gecko. Im swooshing it around and throwing around like TURBO AUTIST kek.

im pretending that he going full speed and doing wall rides or tha this skateboard turning into a "flying skateboard" and he then landing on the wall and riding down and doing flips.
Holy shit.

I collect transformers and they have tons of 3Rd party supports. When a cool transformer comes out - there are shit ton of upgrades and pieces on Ebay for it.
I would pay DOUBLE PRICE if some 3rd party could make 2 feet(boots) with roller skates/blades for Mondo Gecko.
Imagine how fun it could be if Gecko had rollerblades with 3 tiny wheels on each boot??!?!?!

>>
>>10938660
Yea, i think the larger toon figures were the first to introduce the swappable head tops and mouths, then the disguise turtles were the first 7" scale figures to have the swappable heads/mouths.

Really shitty of neca to not have the swappable parts be interchangeable.

So I used "can't" for brevity.

No, I'm not currently in a timezone close to yours, so I hadn't just woken up. Who the fuck would post on 4chan the second they wake up? Apart from you, obviously. Why doesn't he get a special weapon or something? Every other turtle does. I don't feel like the removable wig should be his only unique gimmick. Raph has a removable helmet AND the crazy sai gauntlet AND a giant sai sword.

Why even bother with revamped articulation at that point?
>>
>>10938990

I like Dan but don't listen to him. Turtle skin doesn't look like that, but aside from their heads (mostly) they're not smooth. They're reptiles after all, outside of the smoother parts they're covered in scales. And frogs aren't bumpy usually also, thinking of toads.

seeing this after being so excited from the low res images really upsets me; these are so disappointing. like i feel so sad looking at them.

Playmates had a opportunity to make some really great figures to ride the "retro styled figures, but modern articulation" wave, but they did THIS.

the texturing isn't even the worst offender in all of this. Its the fucking ankles and feet.

why couldn't they have done a ball joint in the ankles?

and what the fuck is going on with their FEET!?!

why couldn't they used the original Raphael figures legs and feet for the reference? both his feet were flat! just add the points of articulation.

I was really looking forward to these. I'm so let down. how did Playmates okay this?

I guess I'm gonna have to get the Super 7 figures now if i want something like the original figures.

naw. Honestly I think they would work as practical costumes a la Tank Girl's kangaroo men, since their bodies are fully humanoid
like, not LIKE this? but like this. They had nice motorized ears etc

of course not.

went on a nostalgia kick lately. I see TMNT is getting various reissues. What's the odds of these metal guys getting a reissue?
>>
>>10940152
slim to butt, but i will admit I wanted these as a kid. I loved this kind of thing, it was probably the smartest thing Playmates did at that time, for trying to re-cool-ify the turtles' increasingly lame image as they'd become goofballs.
buuut I wanted actual ronin warriors figures more, and I got em
>>
>>10940035
>>10940038
That was intentional to make him fit in the packaging while still giving him the appearance of being a tall figure. I kind of liked his stance because it gave him the range for leg sweeps on the heroes.
>>
>>10940152
>vac metal
probably unlikely, but that would stop playmates from rereleasing them with just metallic marbled plastic that no one wants. also these were released in the end days of the 80s tmnt run so it was clearance fodder. But if they do get reissued, they better reissue the Super Mutants as well.
>>
>>10939942
>durrrr no you the coomer for wanting an accurate depiction of a character durrrrr
>>
>>10940153
>>10940388
They're really interesting toys to me. They've got this Saint Seiya vibe going too. It's a shame they go for insane prices now. They're barely ninja turtles and just cool armor toys.
>>
>>10940551
Playmates was releasing the Ronin Warriors toys at the time so they brought them over from Japan to try and keep TMNT relevant I guess. Shame the OVA never got an official US release. They could have packed the episode in with the figure as a VHS. Same with the Super Mutants. They also had Super Human Syber Squad so they made Cyber Turtles, and even EXO Squad turtles with their own E-Frames. End of line stuff got crazy.
>>
These are the worst crossover figs I've ever seen, even the 2012 wrestling turtles were better.

it's hilarious how playmates had no idea how to do hips until 2007
so they couldn't, for example, just package someone in a longjump pose, and then you straighten the legs out and now he's taller than the packaging would have allowed for
because when you bend their V-hips, the leg swings out sideways until they're in a 'sitting flat on the floor' position.
>>
>>10940651
i actually love how awful the top 3 are, they look like something real wrestlers would have worn to the ring in the 80s.
bottom 3 are all a miss though

>>
>>10940963

I mean yeah the only people who would buy that are part of the modern demo but I can't imagine there are many of them. they'd have to be turbo faggots AND like TMNT AND like gay modern wrestlers AND like shitty action figures

Found the single pack Turtles today. I think now I'm only needing the Mirage Foot and the Space Don/Samurai Mikey 2-pack and that should be everything.

Everything for now. Yeesh.

i love all the seething from guys who already have the turtles. W for chads playing the long game. these are the definitive and best version of the neca toon turtles

I've only seen leo and raph packs. I'm not sure if I wanna dip into basic turtles a THIRD time because I got the trench coat set and the merchandise color ones.
>>
>>10941166
Yeah, that's totally understandable. I'm thinking I'm going to have the trenchcoat turtles coming out of and surrounding the Party Wagon, and then these guys will probably end up hanging out in the dioramas? At least I know Mikey and Raph will, cause Mikey has that great Chef getup, and Raph's got the pizza dough head.
>>
>>10941152
this is the third skin color these have come in, right? After the darker green of the cartoon and the lighter green of most of the merch. this is kind of a more medium green like the later seasons
>>
>>10941166
>not picking up the best version of the brothers
why are you even here?
>>
>>10941166
Wish they even made it to shelves here. Our Target is actually doing Haulathon this year, but all they put out were Baxter and Kirby. There were pegs for the animated stuff, but between Friday night when they put the pegs up and Saturday morning when they put the stuff out, every that's selling for double on ebay mysteriously sold out.
>>
>>10941720
They should be getting more in. The figures I got were from the third case shipment that that store has gotten in so far. The first case barely had anything (that's when I got Usagi and the Turtle 4-pack), and then a second case came in and I got the rest minus the single packs, and now...well... Yeah, they're seemingly getting more in at least. Hopefully they either become plentiful or are easier to get on the April 12th online drop.

Another home run. I think they've been improving the joints because this is the 5th or 6th TMNT figure from them I've had that has needed to water, hear, or lube.
>>
>>10943893
They've been pretty great, yeah. And yeah, I like Wolfman Raph a whole lot. The etchings on his furry shell are clever detail.
>>
>>10943837

Love this dopey looking head
>>
>>10943917
it's more recognizable as movie raph to me. yet it's also undeniably muppety.
>>
>>10943925
It does feel very much like a normal turtle head with fur and fangs. Anyone picking him up, watch out for the part where the bone handle meets the bottom of the wrap. It's recessed so the wrap looks tighter but that also makes it a bit thinner, had to kijigger that one into his hand with a bit more caution.
>>
>>10943930
i suppose they gave him such a big space between his fingers so he could do the wolverine-hold? but the thumbs seem to be almost completely opposed, so that would interfere.
>>
>>10943936
The thumb slides in between the main fingers when not holding something so I don't think this will comfortably pop out between the knuckles. That would be easier to do with the default partially open hands.
>>
>>10943941
oh that's what the gap is for? so he can sandwich his own thumb in between them?

Yeah mine came in on Friday, but I've been busy opening up all the new Toon figures and stuff that I haven't had a chance to mess around with these as much as I want to. They come with so much good gear...especially when you add in the accessory pack.

I'm really happy these figures exist, and hope they can at least get the other two brothers out to us faster than what happened with Donnie and Splinter. These will be a nice little niche set in the display. It's really funny that a no-name group off in China or wherever can produce some of the more interesting TMNT toys while Playmates hiccups and shits themselves trying to do "new" vintage figures with pockmarks.

I think Splinter was the one I was least interested in when he was shown, but now that I have him, he might be the best of the three? The body is really well articulated (being a spindly rat helps of course), and I like the soft goods. They're...not high quality but that seems to fit? They're crinkly, cruddy, feels appropriately aged.

The paint is really nice. I love the pinks used on his palms and feet. Also love the use of magnets for his hat and shoulder piece.
>>
>>10943953
Yeah. The fingers are soft but provide a pretty sturdy grip.

the legs are the biggest problem for me. short shins, no way. and his upper body and lower body seem mismatched.
>>

I do think the Universal Turtles crossover monsters idea is a fun gimmick. Don't know about Raph's shell also being covered in fur though.

i assume the issue was that they HAD to have fur on the plastron, because he's gotta have a furry wolfman chest. so from there, it might as well be on the whole shell
the weird hairless purple fingers and hairless brown nose confuse me though

I got mine from 5ktoys. But they were only for people who pre-ordered them. Plus 5k was kinda slow getting them out. Might be better through another seller.

(not) Mikey is up next. I've read they might do another wave of (not) Leo, so if they did I'm sure they'd do another (not) Donnie.
>>
>>10944095
Yeah there's definitely some conflicting design choices going on there. Since these are kinda based on the movie designs, I'm disappointed they didn't just reuse Tokka & Rahzar for the Gillman & Wolfman. Though Leo Gillman looks better than the Hunchback.

>>10944097
