That seems like 10-15% off MSRP or something. Not bad, but doesn’t seem like a door-buster or anything. Still, most of those kits are very nice IMO, so I think you’ll have fun with them when you get around to them.

Since I already have (in virtual warehouse but still) Sol Strike Raptor, would it make sense to buy Sol Hornet as well? I honestly feel like Strike Raptor is already pretty much "upgraded" Hornet.

I could get Stylet Plus instead of Hornet for same price, hence the question.

XF3 would probably be the better choice.

Why? Isn't it like Plus contains all parts of XF3 minus "armor" head?

XF3 plus contains the innocentia hair runner as a bonus.
It's only a matter of that single runner between XF3 plus and regular afaik.

How hard will it be to get soffiera and the puni mofu mao after they release? I'm kind of thinking about cancelling my preorders since I really don't need more kits right now but I still have that fomo.
>>
>>11162472
These days the kits are usually made in just enough numbers that you can always pick one up on the aftermarket for a bit after their release. You'll pay extra most of the time, but you can find them if you look. That said, these two are definitely selling out quick. Arca Nadea are all highly popular and traditionally get gobbled up swiftly, and people have been waiting for mass produced proper loli kits for literal years now (Puni Mofu in this case), so I don't expect those to last on the aftermarket long either.
>>
I would be more enticed by mecha musume model kits if there was more big armor/rigs, but this seems to be a rarity. I suppose I'll mainly have to resort to heavy customizations combining a base girl with mecha lines like 30MM and Hexagear to get this desired style?

To people having experience with Mandarake - when it makes more sense to use DHL rather than EMS, when shipping to Europe? From what I remember, former is charging based on size while latter on weight but I'm not sure if DHL is generally too pricey to be considered in first place.

I posted my Strarfs here a few months ago, when I finally got around to building my MD one (and I still have to do my Dark Arnval at some point, too).
I still have my whole Shinki collection, including my rare ones (Sharatang with her light gimmick that still works, both Oorbellen Lunara and Zielbellen Amethyst, my Stradale sisters, etc), but they definitely show their age compared to the new model kit versions. I wish they'd redo all of them, but sadly I know it's never going to happen...

That's what I said I'd do. My brain is still semi-active but why the fuck is it taking them this long to reprint like three sprues of poorly color separated plastic?
>>
>>11163093
I also like the MD's if only because their hair isn't leaking plasticizer and needs cleaning every year at minimum.

Agreed it would be so baller to get all the old Shinkis upgraded to Megamis, though. Hell, MD even is doing 'light armors' now for the Asra girls.
>>
>>11164931
>Agreed it would be so baller to get all the old Shinkis upgraded to Megamis, though.
At this point I'd settle for just the recurring show Shinki if they didn't want to redo the whole line - the Valkyrie sisters, MKII Arnval and Strarf, Maochao and Howling, and Eukrante. Don't get me wrong - there's plenty of other Shinki I'd love to see modernized, but at least those ones have the logic of being the most recognizable (and thus a better shot at selling) since they're more prominent in the various existing Shinki materials and media.
Also, I want Justice. Just sayin'.
>>
>>11164985
Aye. Getting the entire line redone is an absolute pipedream that'll never happen, but I could see them doing some of the more prominent and popular ones still.
>>
>>11164332
Same schedule as always.
>>
>>11164985
Hell, there are TWO canine/wolf themed girls out right now from Cyberforrest and ATK girl. A redesigned Howling with alt. face expressions and armor arms that aren't solid tubes would be amazing in this market.
>>
The answer is to simply remake the shinkis yourself
in a hobby like this, we have the technology
>>
Is Mandarake inflating shipping costs or they actually use different weight for calculations? Because when added total weight of models I wanted to buy and compared to their chart, it should end up with 9k yen instead of 13k it shows on checkup (I won't even comment DHL and their 24k yen price).

Still cheaper than EU stores but I just wonder.
>>
>>11166236
Cardboard boxes weight a bunch too, you know.
A big, sturdy box could easily weigh up to 4-5 kilograms.
t. works cargo
>>
>>11166249
That explains it, thanks.
>>
Looked upon the order since along with shipping price, whole value increased well past duty limit (150€) and after careful consideration, faced choice between Type Devil and XF Stylet Plus (3.5k and 3k yen, respectively). Someone will have to wait for next time.

Sorry, Strarf.

Do you people paint these things? I haven't so far but I want to do a custom that'll need to be painted. What's the order of operations around getting rid of seams? I feel like cement and then paint when assembled would look the best in terms of paint finish but having the parts assembled means it's going to be difficult to not miss spots in the joints and such, or make the joints not want to move right. Paint and then cement together and then touch up could be easier but I feel like you would have a noticeable surface change in that case.
>>
>>11166531
Topcoat takes care of most surface blemishes from hand painting touchups. As for joints, depends on the structure. For structures like MD knees I like to spray the joint fully flexed, partially flexed and then straight to insure full coverage.
>>
>>11166578
That's good to know. If the joints work well enough when painted assembled, I guess I don't have to worry too much about touching up seams. Thanks!
>>
Painting all these parts is gonna be a nightmare

Only if you buy from SAHRA they have wacky shipping prices compared to other stores because they use computer to calculate the shipping price as opposed to other stores where you have to wait for a staff to check the items availability and calculate the shipping price manually. But SAHRA is faster on shipping and there no risk of item being bought first because they doesn't have physical store that people can walk in.
>>
>>11167016
Oh, I was actually buying from Sahara to have all models and stuff from one store. Maybe next time I will try to use some else.
>>
>>11167059
They are good if you are making a single purchase since they request payment instantly and ship it in the same day because they use the shipping price that they've shown so they skipped the weight and box dimensions check, It get wacky when you mix items and have their program do a new calculation and it can just be whatever.
>>
>>11167132
It's been some time since I ordered something from Mandarake, I thought they now preview shipping prices for all orders on all stores, not just Sahra. I remember that at one point I had to email them to ask how much would it cost for shipping certain items but that was back in 2020 and from Nagoya if I recall correctly.

Nine-Tails is the biggest by far of the three. Amaterasu has great faces, but with the potential for a full AUV version I'd hold off. Susanowo on the other side is pretty much dlc for the main version.

Her top is basically a bikini, but with some anatomy failure going on - the black part is the straps, and it's supposed to be curving around the side of her tits and going under them, with the pink cups coming up from the part that's under her bust. Unfortunately, her breasts are too small for that kind of bra to work on her, which makes it look weird - she shouldn't have enough sag to her breasts for them to be able to hang down over and conceal the lower part of the bra strap. It's bizarre, because BLADE has been drawing small breasts for decades - he should know how this works by now.

I imagine that's a concession to hide how her chest piece attaches to the physical kit if they're doing the usual clip-on boobers setup.

Funny thing - she (with the F.A.P., to boot) was my first Shinki, and is still one of my favorites. I was so disappointed that she didn't appear in that Moon Angel short despite that Tempesta having a Strarf MKII as her sister unit.
It goes without saying, but I wish she - like many Shinki - would get a modern remake the way her MKI version did.

I have about a 10 month backlog at this point. She's up the kit after next. Finding time to build them is way more challenging than buying them. I've already built Durga I and she's so cute in base mode I could barely stand to put her armor on. Maybe I should dig out the parts and switch her back.
>>
>>11173095
>I have about a 10 month backlog at this point

I have models that sit in backlog for few years like Lumitea. One of the reasons is that I simply cannot forgive myself for "just" snapping kit together and at another hand - don't want to paint kit in very same colour as original, which I already often consider good combination and painting itself takes me few weeks at best.
>>
>>11173074

The final topcoat is so easy to ruin at that humidity level, though. I have to set up a dehumidifier in the drying room and even then it’s not a guarantee. I mostly just wait until winter and do a load of them.

>>
>>11170085
you might want to follow >>11170133 advice, as contrary to common sense after a certain point adding more items to a fedEx package increases the overall cost of every item in it.

For example, for me that sweet spot for maximun gains is 13k JPY, you add one other item after that price point (a bandai HG for example) and the price increases almost 2k.

All Frame Arms Girls kits, including the original Gourai, are based off of preexisting robot kits of the same name from Koto's Frame Arms line. Pic related is the original Durga I kit that >>11173029 is intended to be. Durga II was the upgraded version, hence the name change.

The Frame Arms kits are armor slapped onto an Architect body frame, and they sell those Architects separately as well as bundled with full kits. If you're having issues with the joints, you just need to get a new Architect and slap your Durga parts onto it.

More like "at least 4 days a week" at this point. When they first started doing it it was once every 2-3 weeks but they've increased the frequency of the "limited time event" to the point where it's basically permanent now.

They're not going to give any extra padding once they get the package from the Japanese seller. So if the JP seller didn't put any padding, that's how they're shipping it to you. I once ordered a poster from Buyee years ago and it arrived to me totally demolished because the JP seller just put it in some newspaper and that's how Buyee sent it to me. So if you want to make sure things don't get to you damaged you'd have to buy extras

Snapped up a Arisa and Ayaka Ichijo to use as a body for Emma's other hairstyle. I'm glad I got Arisa super cheap in the HLJ sale, for 2700 yen or so she's really good, especially coming with a nice Little Armory kit too. That shade of green is a strange choice on her.
Happy to see the FAG tech runs through her and Hresvelgr's legs fit perfectly on her thighs, her regular legs are a bit boring. Did find it odd she has a gasmask, but you can't actually have her wearing it.
Ayaka is a fun build as well, she's pretty much bang on for Emma's height. Plenty of bits I've still got to build for her. Those shields of hers look like a ballache and a half to paint up.

I have no qualms with them making these things as compatible as possible with 30MS, but I was initially confused as to why they even marketed them as 30MM. They use the c-clip system much more in-line with that line but they’re just so woefully out of scale in comparison with the rest of 30MM’s offerings and their faceplates are obviously designed to be swapped with 30MS. As long as they keep iterating on the body, though, I’m not complaining.

As a tool grade air compressor it has a bigger and LOUDER motor to handle higher pressures.
That one's amazon page says it's up to 116 PSI and has a volume of 70 decibels (about the same as a vacuum cleaner)
Meanwhile this cheap airbrush compressor is only capable of about 58 psi but has a way lower volume of 47 decibels. It costs less too.
https://www.amazon.com/Timbertech-Airbrush-Compressor-Professional-Automatic/dp/B07VT3RV47
If you actually want to use any air-powered power tools in your garage then sure go for the louder tool compressor, otherwise it'll just be a less pleasant experience

If you want a top-notch runner holder just make one out of cardboard. The problem with premade holders is that the ribs are often too close (making it annoying to line your runners up in them quickly), or they don't have enough slots for larger kits. Get some cardboard, a box cutter, and some hot glue, then make yourself a perfect holder in 20 minutes properly suited to your spatial needs.

and no i didnt cum on a model, i am just wondering if i'll be able to undo panel lining and stuff, like if i want to change the color or w/e
>>
>>11182941
I only did that with 30MS faces but they survived intact being casted with blue stuff, which required vaseline use to avoid sticking and of course, elevated temperature. But another question is - why you even want to wash plastic parts? Modern kits don't have residual release agent or anything.
>>
>>11182642
Now this is better than whatever bob cut they had before. Now if we could only get a pony tail...

A DIY solution would look like this
https://newtype.us/p/TM3S1SH63xSyjsmzGq93/h/multi-builders-runner-stand
There's a plastic vertical tower runner solution that I've seen nips use, but as far as I can tell the product is discontinued. Not sure why no one else made a vertical runner yet but I think it's ingenious

This was a frustratingly bad kit, but I will say two things in its favour:
Kari has a nice design, and you get two bodies.

But building bad kits makes us appreciate the good ones more; right?
>>
>>11183010
use isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
>>
>>11183081
How bad? I recently had to spend a lot of time on Square Enix Front Mission kit where I had to oversand (a lot) ball jpint to even get into socket and snapped parts would separate on their own unless corrected with knife/file, I doubt this one would be worse than that.

>>11183010
What exactly did you use to make these scribbles? Water with soap will remove graphite pencil and such but not enamel or acrylic paint. As >>11183104 says, isopropyl will (enamel might require stronger solution like enamel thinner or white spirit) but these might damage decals and pre-painted details so make sure you apply it with cotton and only where you want it to.

Really thick plastic and primitive articulation; plus a lot of weird choices.
Her knees are made of polycap plastic, for instance. The casual outfit's ankles are among the worst I've ever seen, and the armoured-up form's ankles aren't much better.
Both of her necks are complete shit, to put it bluntly, and she has no capacity to swing her shoulders—worse than even the oldest MDs.
Engineering-wise, Kari is a lot worse than the MoMo I made earlier this year—and apparently I paid £40 for her.
>>
>>11183110
>>11183136
Anyway; main point is: She wasn't fun to build in the slightest.
>>
>>11183136
>>11183143
I'd say she is more slightly below average than bad. She has some mold issues and some early chinese kit weirdness, but as a kit I can't say that she is actually bad. Especially for a first atempt.attempt.

Plastic quality is fine too, the white is a little soft, but that's pretty common.
>>
>>11183266
interesting to have another take.
what then, in your opinion, is an actually bad kit?

i saw a lot of custom parts for megami device girls
stuff like huge tits or different clothes or pregnant belly, etc
but i never saw anything like that for 30ms girls, how come?

I love Ball-chan. Ball-chan is absolutely atrocious. Cheap fragile poorly molded plastic, nonexistent tolerances, jank poorly thought out engineering...

Great character design, great expressions, but a horrible building experience. The sprue attachment points are massive, circular and on edges of sharp parts. The snapfit pegs tightness is completely random, as are the lengths. Some pegs are so long they prevent some parts from even fully going together. The pollycap joints shred themselves in their sockets and split from assembly, even though the fit feels fine. The red plastic is insanely brittle and hard, it cracks from the slightest flexing and the entire foot assembly not only falls apart from a breath, has no practical ankle tilt and makes her borderline impossible to stand if her weak ass knees allow it in the first place. Horrible horrible model, but I don't regret getting her.

For about ten bucks.

I'd also like to say why I don't think Sazanamiis that bad... everything she does works fine, tolerances aren't flawless but they aren't bad. Her molding is imperfect, but not to the level of some of Volks's particularly bad stuff, and especially not as rough as some particularly cheap chineseium kits. Her engineering and articulation is all functional and on par with many of Ms General's kits, if her hips and waist were a bit better designed and less gappy I'd say the actual design was generally a success.

The only actually really bad thing on her is her dogshit hands.

It's just recolors of the stock bodies that came with Sitara's Ganesha release and Kaede's original version in the colors of their alternate gear. If you have the recolors and want these go for it, if not just get the normal color versions.

>inb4 just use hot glue
>>
>>11187040
What kind of broken piece are we talking?
>>
>>11187063
material is ABS, for the form see pic related, forms a ring. i deeply regret using topcoat before fully assembling it because i spent the last hour going over all the ball joints with sandpaper just so they would fit. next time i'll assemble it fully and then use topcoat, fuck this
>>
>>11187076
Your best bet is to try and pin it. Drill a teeny tiny hole on both ends of the breakage, get a small bit of wire, glue it in and that'll help support it in. Might be incredibly damn fiddly to do so though.
>>
>>11187040
>hot glue
use plastic cement or cyanoacrylate/CA glue/superglue
>>
>>11187117
i'm afraid it'll be too damn fiddly considering the size
>>11187191
does plastic cement work on ABS? i've got some here from revell that uses n butyl acetate
>>
>>11187316
>abs
oops, don't think so
could always try it out with some bits of runner though
>>
>>11187316
Plastic cement CAN work on ABS. It depends on the brand. Mr. Cement SP, for example, is some of the best stuff for it. Works on ABS more smoothly than others do. Cheap and easy to get as well. Tamiya's stuff can also work, though how well seems to be on a bottle-by-bottle basis. Plastruct Bondene(white cap) also works well enough. Can't say I've ever used the Revell stuff though. So you'll have to experiment with that.
>>
>>11187316
Look for something that contains acetone or a chemically similar solvent for ABS. Nail polish remover works really well, funnily enough.
