What's the going rate for knock-offs? I'm interested in starting up but dont want to commit to on-brand first
>>11189784>TQNot currently.Star wars and halo stuff, especially aliens to get bullied by the space Marines lol.Not really, as I like the more generic stuff, so I can personalize it myself.>>11189790Vacuum cleanerN E rumors on nide? If they sold well enough, and with the games popularity, I could imagine the other variants getting made next (warrior with devourer, barbed strangler, or venom cannon. Hormagants), since they would be the least resource intensive (already have scything talons, so they'd just need new fore arms and the bioguns). After that, a lictor, I guess? Carnifex would be bitchin', for sure! Zoanthrope/neurothrope and ravener might be a bit awkward due to their slithery bottoms. A hive tyrant in general would be really cool, but I'd be a bit worried we'd get the battle damaged one from the game. Above all, I just want a tyrant guard (with crab claws)!
>>11189806No such thing as knock offs, as it's a Chinese company. If u wanna ease in, start with the most up to date basic intercessors for below $20 (the ultramarine mk VI beakies are amazing value, too). Hell, I think you can get one of the old Phobos Marines on AliExpress for like $10 during a sale/with coupons!
>>11189810That makes sense
Got my horus in, he's an extremely impressive figure but my copy has a pretty loose upper torso and right shoulder. The upper torso isn't too much of a problem but I do wonder if it's cause of all the weight up top cause he does feel too heavy and if so how many people's copies are suffering similarly.
>>11189810UM beakie captain from the Horus heresy line is a great start. Lots of accessories and extra head if you just want a regular first born with the new body type
>>11189852in retrospect it was pretty silly to think Chaos would make him as powerful as the guy they didn't just go and directly kill huh?
>>11189854>not classic enough for me I want this guy
>>11189865Wasn't a terrible plan, I assume they'd been watching the whole time so they were privy to the emps love for horus that could be exploited.
>>11189852Damn, I need to stop troop building Blood Angels and just go all in on Primarchs like they're a line of 80's figures.
>>11189870true it did almost work
>>11189892That's basically what I'm doing, I was all in before but now I'm just doing primarchs and also probably a few dreads. Hopefully they do either a golden boy contemptor dread or rylanor himself cause I really want a contemptor dread but I don't wanna get just any contemptor.
>>11189922I'm still getting Dante because I got Mephiston. Hope we get Astorath and Tycho.
Aliexpress just removed the daily coins from their website and slashed your ability to earn coins by 50%. It looks like coins are being phased out, as even in the app they have been reducing the number of coins you can earn from your daily check-ins.
>>11189892>troop building Blood AngelsHow big an army are you building?
nightlords when???
>>11189959>nightlordsSurely you misspoke, you want more ultramarines right?
>>11189806like the other guy said, there are no KOs, but this is such a stupid mentality in general>buy shitty KO>"this thing sucks">quit line before even realizing how good the real things areWhat a terrible idea for experiencing something for the first time. It's like introducing someone to pizza for the first time with Little Caesars, why would you ever want to eat it again after that?
I'm starting to think that this new terminator mold might be scaled slightly incorrectly
>>11189866>not classic enoughUhh, when is this even from? I associate visor beakies with "old," but the style of the mini looks like true scale, which would make it modern. So which is it?
>>11190017well I like little caesars I dont need good things to enjoy them
>>11189937Sucks, but coins only took off 2-5% at most, and not all stores let you use them. Hopefully they won't change anything about coupons, those are where the real money saving happens.
Do you guys throw away the plastic cover that comes with the toy or do you keep em? I threw the one for the lion away and my OCD is bugging me about it.
>>11190078I keep everything in case I need to put them back.
>>11190021how is that truescale???
I need some chaos cultists to go with my CSM and to fight my marines, any lines offer good figures that fit the bill?
This cantina set is way too fun. Need to take some pics with proper lighting >>11190021That's definitely not truescale. Too chunky. >>11190078I throw out the boxes for all mine. They're nice enough but I don't keep packages unless it's for a larger figure I'd consider selling to declutter someday.
>>11190380Do you think you'll never move house though? The boxes are pretty useful for when you do.
>>11190239>>11190380Truthfully, I just said it because it looked too crisp and detailed and tall to be a legitimately old model (when I say tall, I mean that proportionally, it looks like a tall marine that's just crouching to me, I know the mini is pretty squat relatively speaking). When I say old, I mean stuff that looks like this, so that Beaky already looks way too clean and well-proportioned to me.I don't think I've ever seen that mini before despite being born in the late 80s and studying every mini catalog I could get my hands on. Someone help me out here, what year is that visor beaky actually from?
>>11190380I'm just gonna say it, the boxes are ugly. The design is really basic and generic, just a black box with the same promo photos you can see online. It's a waste of space and an eyesore, I toss them all immediately.>>11190443No, it's still overkill and will make you take more trips just to clutter your new house with trash again. When I move I will safely and compactly pack my figures into padded bins, where they will take up 1/5 of the space they would have in their boxes. Accessories are already sorted into tackle boxes.
>>11190017If the Kos are shit then the product is shit. Excellent products have great kos.
>>11190380You bet I'm jealous of that set
>>11190478Fair enough I guess, but I find they give more protection and I don't have to bother with bubble wrap or whatever.>more tripsI just hire a van, it's only ever one trip. If you mean between the door and the van, yeah I guess, marginally>clutter your new house with trash againI just stick them in the loft, out of sight, out of mind.
>>11190485I got tired of storing away all that cardboard just in case I move. Cardboard attracts roaches too, they eat the stuff. It felt good to get rid of, like a lot of excess baggage.
>>11190481Well now you're just telling me that you're dumb as fuck AND you know nothing about the KO scene. That's rough, anon

BA Crimson Paladins. They're a bit samey, I'll probably just get the polearm guy, polearms are cool.https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/Rnlv_2Fn9eHppmGljE86VQAnd rumours from discord>there will be more figure/armor class based on SM2 game, ETA 2025>Chaos/Khorne coming soon (finally)>we maybe seeing phobos/gravis 4.0 in 2025
>>11190531please let this be the prelude to Sanguinius
>>11190531>there will be more figure/armor class based on SM2 game, ETA 2025Ultramarine champion please.
>>11190531>>11190537Can't bring myself to really get excited about the SM2 stuff cause the proportions are so fucked. Proportionally, they look like miniature McFarlanes somehow, and I don't mean that in a good way.
>>11190531Still don't really like Cataphractii, but these are some of the coolest they've done so far. That Baal shield is crazy.
>>11190540Polearm guy has one too, but it says Glory, I reckon he's the best one to get.
>>11190531Damn, they look so nice, but why cataphractii again? Why don't they share some love with tartaros?
>>11190573All of the unique elite guard units are cataphractii armor, I don't understand why they won't also make some more Tartaros armor though. I would have loved to see the Thousand Sons with some. I would bet on some Ultramarines Tartaros terminators at some point at least since they always get everything.
>>11190550The polearm is cool, but he doesn't come with a helmet, and I kind of want one.
>>11190443That used to be the reason I kept them, and why I still do for fragile figures sometimes. I've kept all my SH Monsterarts boxes for example. But everything I own from this line is pretty sturdy, and I just don't want to keep accumulating garbage if I can avoid it. I feel like I could safely toss all of my Joytoy stuff in a plastic tub, maybe put each in a ziploc bag first, and not have an issue. >>11190482It's just 2 copies of the nevarro cantina slotted together, it's on Amazon for like 40 bucks, which is admittedly overpriced for what it is but I didn't feel like scratch building it. I admittedly did make the floor out of insulation foam, but thats a quick project.

>>11190805>>11190531Straban is best boy, but it's gonna be weird getting a default armored figure of him.
>>11190685You think they will do more xenos or guard? I bet they would use all the extra production time to make more pirmaris chapters.
>>11190078I used to keep boxes for everything. But recently I've been tidying the house and generally getting rid of stuff I don't want. I have realised I don't actually want the boxes. I was keeping them out of some 'completeness' obsession with my toys. I don't buy stuff because I plan on selling it, and I don't keep stuff in the boxes. So I was just storing boxes of boxes. Throwing that stuff away has meant I can focus a bit more on how I store my toys, and on improving my quality of life/enjoyment of toy displays etc.
>>Chaos/Khorne coming soon (finally)Like, JUST Khorne related Chaos, or is there a chance for more Chaos in general? Because I really want Night Lords already.
>>11190690I WANT MY FUCKING RUBRIC MARINES
>>11190960It would be nice if they did Ahriman at least, then you could have 30k and 40k versions together. Same for Yabbadabbadoo and Lucius, Typhus and Fabius down the line.
There are a shockingly low amount of non marine figures. I just want some chaos spawn or demons bro
>>11191104I wish I'd gotten this guy when he came out. I figured they'd be making demons sooner rather than later.
>>11191109yeah I'd buy that shit. So these things are usually limited production to make people FOMO? That sucks
>>11191149That's just how chink toys (and indeed most toys by smaller companies) usually work, there's usually only one run, preorders beforehand to gauge demand, they do as many as the preorders plus a little bit, and after that gets scarce, secondary market prices get jacked up.
>>11191109Yeah, that Diablo's great. I really should square him up against an actual not-lost Primarch.
>>11191162Is that a merry-go-round horse?
>>11190805I'm very afraid of how the Phobos proportions might turn out. They're really doing some screwy stuff these days. The old Phobos mold LOOKED virtually perfect, my only complaint is the engineering was mid because it was such an early release.
>>11190018Speaking of large lads I wonder when Tyberos will break the surface
>>11191104Tell the market that. Space Marines are the face of the franchise and always sell the best. Every time JoyToy tried to do a different faction, they sold relatively poorly. Some sold so badly that it's unlikely we will get any more (Tau).
>>11191287NTA but it got me thinking: it might help Marines and Xenos to all sell better if they came out mimicking events: select a conflict then release the forces involved and hype it up with cinematic videos. If Bionicle did it I'm sure JoyToy could work that magic with 40K toys.
>>11191162recently I finally got a Primarch idea in my headthe story might cause psychic damage but at least I can put that aside and have a cool custom in my head if the visual manifests well in reality
>>11191297I think they kind of already do this. Like they already shoot a lot of cinematic videos actually. They don't get posted here that often, but if you search around there are quite a lot of videos they've made with cameras panning around posed battle scenes with sound effects and light CGI. It's pretty neat.
>>11191313Fire that tism away, brother. I was trying to come up with a custom Primarch for years, but have recently gone way too deep in on making lore and stories about a pair of OC successor chapters with a buddy of mine. So the self insert Primarch stuff has taken a backseat to some new tism.
>>11191321That is true and they're quite helpful. The H.H. releases have kind of been wrapped up in a more thematic advertising campaign so maybe they'll take it further in the future. Takes time and money to find people who do that work.

>>11191490Yeah the figure doesn't live up to the reputation of a primarch whose defining feature is that he was the most charismatic
>>11191508Oh I was more thinking of his art when I wrote that. Before all the cabling I'd give him points for his face. But hardly after that. Still, Chaos would have different standards.
>>11191416Rogal is nice but I think they could have done better with the paint, hell it looks different in the "official" photos.
>>11191416What are your thoughts on them, Anon?Which is your favourite?Bit of a shame that we're unlikely to get 30k Guilliman and Lion
>>11191535Anon, Dorn doesn't look like that IRL. That photo in >>11191416 was taken with an absurdly shitty camera, look how grainy and soft it is. The background is so grainy it looks like it was sandblasted. Color accuracy and saturation are totally fucked too.In reality, Dorn looks almost exactly like the promo shots.
>>11191149That's not even a Joytoy figure dumbass
>>11191558Another helmet? Where's that from?
>>11191149That is an unlicensed Diablo toy. Completely unrelated. That other anon was just saying they would have liked to use it as a generic demon.
>>11191563Idk but it's the best looking one I've seen so far
>>11191372sounds like a grand old timeone of the chapters that came to mind a while back was inspired by some art of a friendnever expected to be dreaming up a Primarch thoughin retrospect Noise marines and Ravenguard already have elements of it so it's not as crazy as I thought
>>11191416Horus looks like he's just waving at the camera.
>>11191558>Dorn looks almost exactly like the promo shots.no.Left almost looks like metal.Right looks like a plastic toy.In fact, paint seems to be missing. Feet seem to have silver edge paint on the left. Arm braces missing brown stripes.
Threadly reminder not to engage with subby
What's the best Fire Warrior figure? I liked the game even if it was terrible.
>>11191629You're in luck, cause these Fire Warriors are pretty much the only Tau ground troops that got released. They sold badly so we probably aren't getting any other molds, or even the yellow basic color scheme. They are really cool little figures even if they didn't sell well though. I would recommend them. You can also stretch out your squad a bit with unique 3D printed heads, weapons, and effect parts.
>>11191554If I had to choose just one, it would be Horus.
>>11190531Extremely faithful representation of Forge World sculpts of BA Crimson Paladins, down to gear and customization. It's been obvious for a while, that they likely use 3D files straight from FW/GW, or base their own sculpts on them, but still.
>>1119155430K Lion would be awesome. Personally I'm hoping for Perturabo, I feel he'd make an awesome toy.
>>11191670Horus is great but if I had to pick just one it'd likely be the lion since he comes with so much that let's you spruce up your display of him so it isn't just him standing there. Russ would be a close second for me considering all the weapons he comes with and the alternate head.
>>11191558While there is some fuzziness specially on girlyman I'm pretty sure the background isn't as grainy as you think and it's just a sheet of something with a texture, you can see the fold of it around horus hammer. The picture does seem weirdly saturated though assuming the person didn't paint their dorn to that color since it's a color I haven't seen in anyone else picture, although that could also just be the way the light is hitting it and where it's coming from.
>>11191693> It's been obvious for a while, that they likely use 3D files straight from FW/GWBro, as someone who digitally sculpts, you have no idea what you're talking about. They are 100% different, there was zero reuse or scaling-up here. All you need to do is actually look at them side by side and you can see the proportions and shapes are completely different.JoyToy's actual sculpt style has remained consistent since the start, and it's always had its own look that was very unlike GW's. It's clear that they are producing everything from scratch and not using existing GW data. It's crazy to me that you knew so little about this, yet said so confidently that "it's been obvious."
>>11191751The entire image is drowning in grain, both on the figures and background. You know why it's irrelevant whether the background is fabric/textured or not? Because there is exactly as much grain on it as there is on the objects we know are smooth, like The Lion's sword or the surface of the plastic bin he's standing on. When everything is uniformly grainy, it's near-impossible to ascertain the true texture of anything in the image unless it's super-rough.
>>11191693>>11191795It would also be a huge pain in the ass to take those preposed mini sculpts, slice them up, clean them up from those poses, sculpt in the missing parts, and add detail everywhere (because there isn't nearly enough fine detail on a mini to be upscaled to 4-5"). It's a borderline braindead workflow, it's so much easier to just sculpt the damn thing from scratch. People who have never done this kind of work think things like this just happen with the snap of a finger.
Was there a reason that the White Consuls in particular got figures instead of another random chapter?
>>11191808I think they where being shilled at the time since the named captain got his own model too.Possible that whoever their GW contact is that approves JoyToy's stuff also happened to be a fan.
>>11191800Your image there shows that even with the grain in the image the colors are consistent with the clear image though so why would the grain make his dorn copy look different?
>He painted that Dorn>Dorn copyShut the fuck up faggot retard.

>>11191795>>11191803Yep, my bad. I've had legit brainfart when typing that post. All I wanted to say is that they follow their sources very closely and faithfully. A very good recreation on a different scale and medium.
Any announcements?
>>11191795I disagree, at least when it came to EARLIER joytoy Warhammer figures, because those felt like the minis scaled up, and articulation woven in. The Phobos Marines are 95% accurate to the minis, in my opinion.Something else that always bugged me was the first gravis captain, and his right leg tube: gravis Marines have these tubes that go from the back of their shin (idk wtf that part is called) to their hip, but in the gravis captain mini (the only one available at the time, which was the 8th edition launch box, I believe?), his right leg tube doesn't connect to the hip, and instead tangles into itself at the shin. Well, on the figure, it is EXACTLY the same! Seems VERY odd to make the tube that way, especially since on the assembled mini, that detail is hidden by the cape, AND the fact that they have also made normal aggressors at the time. This, as well as the gigantic gun barrels, and huge vent slits, such as on the bladeguards helmet being so big, leads me to conclude that early warhammer figures did indeed use upscaled digital sources.Something like the mk VI beakies, on the other hand, felt more like an 80% accurate figure.I would quantify McFarlane as a 50% or less accurate figure, based off of the minis, but hold no I'll will towards their sculpts, because they obviously went for an interpretive sculpt, rather than an accurate one (and likely didn't even source the minis at all).>>11191189Yeah, they've definitely changed the way they sculpt their figures, but I think your being hyperbolic, and they will come out fine.
Ahh they're doing Lego knock-off Grey Knights now.
>>11191936>one resident retardThere's more than one. There's favella anon, who has a bunch of models but has never played a game in his life. And there's hong kong anon, who is also pretty disgusting. There one or two more, but they don't identify themselves with anything. >>11192325Im pretty sure he's talking about me, but the funniest part is two fold; he's implying that I'm less of a fan because I've never played, but players make up a MINORITY of mini collectors (about or less than 30% play the game). And subby doesn't deny that he himself is THE resident retard lmao. Also what's funny, is that I'm also "disingenuous", despite actually posting 100% verified my own models and figures, whereas HE just posts fan art that he presents as official art, codex pages that he rips from spikey bits, or other peoples toy pics (and has NEVER posted anything with timestamps to verify his authenticity). The subby delusions never cease to amaze.
>>11192325If you just want to have cool models and never cared about anything else, that's cool for you and i can't blame you. Lots of people just want to have cool shit. I got into WH40k way back in the 90s for that reason and didn't actually play a game until i got into college, because they had games going in the community center every week.Whereas Favella anon thinks he's super fan just because he somehow got a bunch of models, yet knows nothing about the game nor lore. Simple knowledge like when the primarchs were released or that the minis have such weird proportions because it aids players in identifying what a mini's job is is beyond people like him.

>if you just want to have cool models and never cared about anything else, that's cool for you and i can't blame you.Unless some faggot tries to argue no true scottsman, and you show him up at his own game, THEN he will not only blame you, but make up schizophrenic delusions about the CIA paying Chinese shills in BK coupons.>yet knows nothing about the game nor lore. Despite posting time-stamped pics of my codexes.I guess subby hasn't cried "no true scottsman" in a while, huh? >>11194197Highly recommend Mechanicus (the game). Lots of fun tech priest banter, and fun mechanics overall. Easy to build a total gigachad of a priest with a little thought, but there's tons of difficulty options you can tinker with if that happens.
Is there any reason why Joytoy completely ignored new MKIII's?They were in the dark, and release of their own heresy MKIII's coincided with release of GW refresh? They already invested into molds, tools etc for their old forge MKIII lineup, so they couldn't pivot without losing money?Or is Joytoy full of hardcore fans from 2000-2010s era?
I'm really liking the way that these wolves came out. I can't wait to make them beat the piss out of some thousand sons.
>>11194473It's cute that you think JoyToy has carte blanche to do whatever they feel like, especially when they're working for one of the most notoriously controlling companies out there.

>>11194562I don't really see what the problem is. They're the varangyr wolf guard, the most elite of the entire legion in 30k, and they're slightly smaller than Arjac Rockfist, the largest modern space wolf. These are the guys who accompanied Leman Russ when he disappeared. Why do you think that an elite guard should be the same size as a normal marine?
I've always just wrote off the scale discrepancies as some marines just being taller then others.
>>11195569>slightly smaller than Arjac Rockfistaccept they are way taller than him
>>11195574doesn't work for terminators being 3 feet taller than they should be and their freakishly long thighs

>>11195569Yeah, they're elite and shit, but I haven't heard anything about them being particularly huge. They were just Fenrisian dudes who became Astartes and left Fenris with him, he praised them for their loyalty, not their swoleness. Plus Arjac is supposed to be SIGNIFICANTLY huge, not like half an inch taller than the next tallest guy.
>>11195753>>11195569Also, all the 30k guys should be smaller than the Primaris ones if we're getting nitpicky here.

If they aren't using pre existing digital sculpts, and did it all by hand, then why does the lines and grills and such details match the minis, proportionally? Why include tiny and specific details to the mini, that get hidden by the completed mini? >you could try responding to or refuting any one of those points. But I already know you won't, cause you can't. You just want to bitch and moan.
Made a tiny mod to my skitarii, as I drilled in those holes/ports on his thigh, because I want to plug his little tether under his armpit into there. Might do the same to some marine's thighs that have the stim injector ports there.
>>11195941>then why does the lines and grills and such details match the minis, proportionally?Cause they don't, you blind dipshit. You've just been parroting that line over and over hoping people will take your word with zero proof. Let's take that Gravis Captain you were talking about. If you had taken even a second to use your fucking eyes you would see that the details are NOT the same proportionally at all.And that's just the vents I picked out. If you go over both bodies side by side you can see a plethora of details that are not the same proportion or detail wise. Even in this very pic you can see that the the skull eyes are different distances apart, the teeth are a different width, the vox (or whatever that is on the collar) has a prominent ring around it on the mini, the two squared off portions below the aquila come down way further and are sharper on the mini, the top of the wings on the aquila are uniform width on the Joytoy and taper on the mini (as well as having rounded corners), the studs on the collar are way bigger on the Joytoy, etc. I don't have some kind of superhuman eyeballs, I just know how to carefully pay attention to details. Something I suggest you try next time before running your mouth.
Is there anywhere I can buy muzzle flash and blood effects or am I better off making my own with he hot glue method?
>>11196022Flashes come from printthink on etsy. They are sized correctly and come in orange or pale blue/green. That is hugely unrealistic and it still only gets them £2m, a drop in the ocean. I just think they would rather be the first ones to release some big E merch.

I like how they look more refined and mass-produced than the more elite and customized looking Cataphractii sculpts. They seem to work better for generic terminators (which are my favorite units in 40k) while the Cataphractii suits look better as veterans or guard units. I also find the articulation on these much easier to work with, especially on the shoulders, which is my only legitimate complaint with the Cataphractii mold. They can both be posed well, but the design of the Tartaros armor just makes it a lot easier. For this guy specifically, I'm not really a huge fan of the volkite charger and am looking for something to swap it with. I'm not really sure what though, since there are so few other Tartaros figures and the ones that do exist don't come with any extra weapons that I could steal.
>>11200933If you're looking for something specific and happen to be in the UK I might be up for a swap, I like the charger.
>>11200905Tartaros always were my favourite Terminator pattern. I just love how sleek and agile they look, a perfect bridge between regular tactical and terminator suits.I myself currently waiting for this guy.
>>11200838>GW likes the color blue so much they make the green space marines more blueI wish we could go back bros...
>>11200941I love the one with the lightning claws. The chainfist and lightning claw variants that come with the Tartaros sculpts are my favorite designs of those weapons. I like how they are clearly transitioning into their classic 40k designs.
>>11200838what are you even complaining about?

>>11200937I'm hoping that when the inevitable Ultramarines release happens that they come with some cool weapons like an autocannon and plasmablaster that I could swap in
>>11201066>picmy concern was mainly that Tartaros armor just looked like the arms and cowl were physically lowered down and affixed to normal power armor and wasn't distinct enough from itbut looking at a normal space marine and a tartaros side by side, the size definitely makes them LOOK like terminators even if the armor falls short of that by itself

>>11202145I never got him myself, but from what I heard, the robes were too stiff, so they basically made him a traffic cone. The arms were VERY finicky with all of the robes and tubes. I'm starting to like these red homosexual fellows quite a lot. I really like the way that the robes look on the praetor, and their design makes them not hinder his arm articulation at all. It's also kind of interesting that his combi bolter has a unique sculpt and paint scheme, similar to how Abbadon gets a unique sculpt and paint scheme on his.

I've seen the new new Blood Angels Terminators and they do look quite swell are they the same seize as the other 30k Terminators? >>11201066Man they do look fucking great. It's sad that they got fucked over so hard.
>>11203066I don't own any 30K Termies but judging from what I've seen in photos, yeah, they might be around the same size-ish. Maybe a little bigger. They're pretty huge by JoyToy standards. In-hand they kinda feel like 1/12 figures to me, they're in fact bigger than a lot of my SHFs and Figmas.
>>11201017look at the loadout and remember the fact that the UM is like 10-20 bucks cheaper.
>>11203082The Horus dude got more bags and grenades at least.
>>11202252Ailinna
>>11203082Bro...if you look at the history of this line, many first releases of molds are more expensive to make sure they can recoup mold costs. Any future runs get cheaper because the mold is already cut. You can see this most clearly with Black Legion, Sisters, Necron, etc.
Got these guys in, they're awesome
Have they reused these guys yet? or made Sternguard Veteran counterparts to them? These two have always been my favorite sets of minis.
>>11199221thanks, I do see some other good pics tho>>11198793Unfortunately I don't have any admech stuff.I was heavy into the early stuff but didn't anticipate JoyToy would churn figures out this quick. I will get them eventually though. >>11198891thanks for the tip, might try that.
>>11200515Strange that the basic marine's colours look so unappealing but seem to fit the terminators here >>11202673 so well.Design wise there's obviously more going on with the termies but strictly looking at the colours its weird they look so different.
>>11202572nice pics btw
>>11203745>>11203752I think the bright white's a little too distracting, photography-wise. The other colors are fine and the figure looks great
I appreciate that Joytoy bothers producing firstborn marines, even if they are somewhat wonky looking due to them being old sculpts. I have Deathwing Strikemaster and that dude is amazing.
>>11203756Not sure if you care, but your whites are super blown out and you have black crush going on as well. Seems a little silly to use a high quality format like PNG in light of that, you could save a lot of space with JPG. The quality just isn't there to be preserved in the first place, you know?
>>11203796Old sculpts? What are you talking about? Joytoy didn't start making any Firstborn until like 2 years into the line, they're still a pretty new thing relatively speaking
>>11203792>>11203815Yeah, I'm just using different preset options on my camera at the moment and a lot of them the white seemed too harsh.I'm still not wholly familiar with all the camera settings but I'll be tweaking stuff as soon as I can. Thanks for the feedback
>>11203817Yah, bad wording on my part, I meant that they are based on GWs old sculpts, not them being "old joytoy sculpts"
>>11203822Oh, that wasn't really a problem to me since they re-proportioned them. The JoyToy sculpts aren't nearly this squat and funny looking.

>>11200509>Many people do not noticeProbably because this thread seems to be full of people who don't even collect the line but have very strong opinions on it, for some reason. I think there are only 4-5 people here who actually own 40k figures. On the topic of the 30k Blood Angels praetor, I think he looks really good, but is very expensive for a relatively plain figure without many accessories. The terminators seem to be a much better value since they're also highly detailed and come with extra accessories.
>>11206132Would be based but I doubt GW would let them
Just found out about the 1:6 Krieg, what you guys think? I don't collect this scale but looks fine.
>>11206659Looks giga expensive.
>>11206342>30k Blood Angels praetor, I think he looks really good, but is very expensive for a relatively plain figure without many accessoriesThis is so true. It's a shame he looks perfect to be the first chapter master for my oc chapter before he went to take on that founding.
>>11206811$70 on the official website is kind of insane. You can probably expect to find it for <$65 on Aliexpress once sellers get stock, so maybe you could get it down to something more reasonable on a sale. Could you provide an in depth autistic explanation of your OC chapter? I have thought about posting my OC donut steels to get feedback but I'm afraid that I would just get no replies with how slow the thread is
Do you ever think we will get a figure based on the first Horus miniature?
>>11206342Yeah, the BA Praetor is mega expensive for what it is. Not buying.
I've noticed that people tend calling the new Primaris trio from the Space Marine 2 game, as ver 4.0 body, but it's not going to be the new standard going forward, right? For me, it feels like one-off series, that only follow game specific proportions and will never be replicated outside that collab. So, 3.0 will still be a thing and continue being refined, but remain in the confines of said scale.
>>11207051everyone is just waiting for a red beakie anyways

Will their be any big Ali sale before Black Friday?
>>11206861Not really. $60-70 is the typical price range for new unique molds, which this is. Stuff like the Crimson Paladins that were revealed alongside the Praetor are only cheaper because you are getting 5 mold reuses right out of the gate. That praetor mold will probably never be repurposed, so it needs to make all of its money back up front.Often, people approach this kind of thing from an emotional angle (ie, this feels "very expensive for a relatively plain figure without many accessories") and not the logistics of production or sales. It not looking "fancy" enough to you doesn't make the mold cheaper, you get what I'm saying?
>>11207072>>11207078These pinhead longlegs game proportions are horrid, if this is the new standard I'm out.
>>11207391Black Friday? No, 11/11 is the one you should be looking for. That is the biggest shopping day of the year in China and the biggest coupon/discount opportunities will be happening then.
>>11207424nta but thanks for the heads up
>>11207418>people approach this kind of thing from an emotional angle ... and not the logistics of production or salesOh so you're the retard who constantly spews shit all over the thread about your insider knowledge of the production of these figures. I can safely ignore all of the garbage you just posted then. You don't know anything about how this line works (or "production and sales" in general) and you aren't impressing anybody with your redditor pseudointellect. You might as well kill yourself since you contribute nothing to the thread.
>>11207352yay.
>>11207443calm down
>>11207449No, he's retarded and I'm sick of him spraying diarrhea all over the thread. There's nothing emotional about it, a base price of $77 is objectively more expensive than many of the other characters and praetors that usually start at $70 or less. Those that are the same price tend to have more detail or come with more accessories. Nobody gives a fuck about conjectured logistics, if people see that a plain figure costs the same amount or even more than another more detailed figure with more accessories, then they will buy the one that they perceive to be a better deal. >It not looking "fancy" enough to you doesn't make the mold cheaper, you get what I'm saying? Is also retarded because the "fancier" a mold looks generally means a greater quantity of, and more detailed, paint applications which is another expense adding to final the cost of production.
>>11207443>>11207461He's 100% right though. Action figures use injection molding which uses a metal mold, the cost of which accounts for a large portion of production costs. If a figure uses parts for which a mold already exists, it will require less new mold production, and thus be cheaper to make. This isn't conjecture, it's pretty common knowledge, and it isn't just true for action figures. Hell, the same is true for GW's models. The rhino and the leman russ are cheap compared to many newer models of roughly the same size, because they made their money back from the molds years ago. That price is a function of how much it cost to make, how much they think their customers are willing to pay, and how many they expect to sell. But you aren't interested in thinking for 10 seconds about how the costs might be calculated, you just want to whine, so you're throwing a fit and screaming that someone else is shitting up the thread. Buy it or don't, no one fucking cares, but don't act like the idea of thinking through logistics is absurd.
>>11207472The same guy who said that joytoy would never make repaints because "no retailer wants to stock 5 of the same guy in different colors" kek

>>11207493You just highlighted the base price being $77 on their official website like I said. I was correcting earlier where I said $70 because I didn't realize that was a sale price. What exactly is the problem that you have?
>>11207421I'm lucky that I never cared for Primaris marines. It's heresy and manlets for me.
>>11207496You're so inexperienced with this line, you don't even realize that $70 IS the base price, this is just marketing BS. Like products that are constantly "on clearance" year round. Don't you think it's weird at all that every single figure on the page is "on sale," even the brand new preorders that just went up? Use your fucking head, jesus christ you're dumb. Also, this will undoubtedly be available for a lot cheaper on AE. Which you might know if you actually bought these figures. I haven't paid even close to full price for a JT fig in forever.
>>11207507Still not buying the blood angels praetor no matter how hard you shill it
>>11207510I accept your concession of defeat. Fucking moron. Shut the fuck up and stop shitting up the threads, you know absolutely nothing and have zero capacity for logic.
>>11207512You have zero capacity for logic if you think anyone is going to buy that figure. Several other people have expressed the same thought but you're getting spergy over the price comparisons being made using the base price instead of a sale price as if that's relevant at all
>>11207517Way to try to shift the topic. I don't give a fuck about the figure, I think it's ugly as shit. What I do care about is you constantly spreading your stupidity in this thread. You can't provide backup for anything you say, and when faced with the hard truth of your idiocy, you try to slink away and change the subject. Fucking pathetic.
>>11207529What claims did I make that I failed to back up? All I asked was that the resident retard stop shitting up the thread with made up baseless claims about manufacturing processes he's not involved in. From the beginning I said that the consumer doesn't care about the manufacturing costs and simply aren't going to buy something that is a poor value. He can cope all he wants but it's not going to make the figure a good value for money.
>>11207544They weren't baseless though. It was extremely surface-level information about injection molding that is near-universal across the entire toy industry. If you feel that is untrue, you should try to refute it with actual information to the contrary instead of just whining. You look like the crazy one here.
>>11207544Their prices have been pretty set in stone for a while, $30-40 for figures that have either immediate or planned mold reuse (or use already molded parts). $50-70 for new, complex, or one-time-use molds. This has not really changed much over time, which makes me think you are either extremely new to the line or don't buy much. Like, why take a stand now, and not last month, or the month before, or the one before that? The exact same shit was happening, and JoyToy was releasing arguably even PLAINER looking figures for $60, like random Ultramarine captains.
>>11207544>made up baseless claims about manufacturing processes he's not involved in.How the fuck do you think they do it then retard? Just throw a dart at a dart board with a bunch of prices taped too it?
>>11207544>I said that the consumer doesn't care about the manufacturing costs and simply aren't going to buy something that is a poor valueIt doesn't matter what the customer cares about, that's the cost to manufacture and sell the item. If they choose not to buy it, fine, but that doesn't make manufacturing cheaper. And anyway, JoyToy has been hugely successful and people are snapping them up like candy even at those prices you say are unfair, so I don't think it will hurt their bottom line if a few people like you decide to stamp their feet about it.
>>11207565>Like, why take a stand now, and not last month, or the month before, or the one before that?Because this figure just looks boring compared to others of a similar price
>>11207585Again, please look up some of the unique Ultramarine releases from the last 2 years that sold for $60. Some of them are magnitudes plainer than this. Not a peep then. So are you new, a casual, what? Either way I want you to stop inserting your uninformed opinions.
>>11207585So what? Just don't fucking buy it then. Why do you need to make us aware of your precious opinion? Do you have some primal need to let the world know how you feel about this figure?Just shut the fuck up, god damn
>>11207590Ok I'll compare it to Remus Ventanus who looks better and comes with more accessories, now what?>>11207592It's a board about toys, we talk about toys here
>>11207594cool, so you can't read either
>>11207594That's disingenuous and you know it. If you can't participate in good faith, there's no use trying to talk to you.
>>11207597KEK you're right I can't compare it to something that is cheaper and better looking with more accessories, that would be disingenuous since it wouldn't agree with whatever retarded point you're trying to make
>>11207599It doesn't matter what you consider better looking. They make exactly what GW tells them to make, largely based on GW minis. Some are more complex than others, and in that case, a uniform price range helps subsidize those with simpler figures. That's just the truth of how business works. If you don't want to take part in that subsidy, then only buy the complex figures. I don't even understand why you're complaining in the first place. The choices are all available to you and you could make them quietly, it seems like you just want to flap your lips
>>11207619>I don't even understand why you're complaining in the first place. You're really on 4channel dot org asking why someone is complaining about something? I guess it's not as bad on /toy/ generally as some other boards but that's kind of just how it goes here
Sorry to interrupt today's schizo argument but I wanted to let you all know that the real (genuine) Rogal Dorn has arrived and I really like this figure. The mustard paint looks really good with some direct light, and he has a really great range of motion since he's not impeded by any extra stuff hanging off of him. I'm going to spend a long time coming up with different poses for him, this is pretty basic and just to show him off in a neutral stance. He also has seriously one of the best face sculpts I think this line has produced. I think that in person he looks even better than Russ and some of the other new heads. I was afraid I was making a mistake buying him on an impulse, but I really do enjoy him. Pretty impressive for the first of the 30k primarchs and the 3rd primarch figure ever released. Makes me even more excited for Magnus since their sculpts look similar from the waist down.
>>11207645I kinda want Dorn, but only if I could get the aftermarket parts from CoolToysClub, and I think they're sold out of the set I want (with the alternate shoulder pads).
>>11207645
>>11207078Source?
>>11207599I'm gonna be the one that bites and explain to this retard why he is indeed a retard; that comparison is not equivalent due to the fact that he is an ultramarine. Ultramarines sell, period. It's such a sure thing that it's basically printing money. The BA praetor is in fact NOT an UM, therefore he will not sell nearly as well.THAT means that BA NEEDS to be priced higher in order to justify its production costs, unlike the UM, which WILL justify its costs, and therefore can have a smaller profit margin (because, for example, not actual numbers, just values added to make the point; a $5 profit margin over 1,000 units = $5,000 profit, whereas a $12 profit over 400 units is roughly the same profit margin per mold). Also, your prices are BS, because looking at, say, showz store, BA is $69, while blue boy is $62, so relatively, red is $7 more. Blue boy also ONLY has his flag plus it's stand, and a stand arm to help hold said flag as extra. But again, that's his blue bonus. Just look at the SoH beakies vs the UM beakies; UM got way more accessories, for the same end user price.Discussion over.
>>11206659It's ok. If you're a big Death Korps fan you can get it but the gasmask hose is pretty rigid so posing the head is a bit tedious. I would rather get that Cadian officer that came out a few years ago but he seems to be unobtainium now. >>11207645The lack of shading on his hair just really brings it down imo. I wish helmets where a consistent standard. Sigismund for example has a helmet that's been shown in official art but since his mini doesn't have it he doesn't get it.
>>11207981>The lack of shading on his hair just really brings it down imoWell if that's your only gripe with this figure, that's just a single wash coat away from perfection. Nuln oil
Are we ever gonna get an Iron Hands Dreadnought?
>>11207981Damn those helmets look pretty good

>>11208003is this one painted over? looks great
>>11207995Nuln oil is way overkill for white hair....a lighter wash would do better. Maybe something like a very pale brown to give some realistic tones.
>>11208005Dorn is often portrayed in artwork as a pretty attractive dude. He has white hair, but his face itself doesn't really look that old. I'd say he reads to me like a well-maintained 45 or so. Or maybe even younger and just really stressed out.

Maybe I'll think differently when I do eventually get him>>11209499Angel's Tears are pretty cool but the helmets look a little on the thin side
>>11209499bottom right got nipple piercings.
>>11209499aren't those supposed to have the war crime weapons?
>>11209724The grenade launchers fire rad grenades, so yeah I guess. And volkite weapons aren't super nice either.
Make the new thread OP.
>>11209499why are they armed with Nerf cannons?
>>11209936It is Nerf or nothing, brother.
>>11209499Man, I wish they released some basic men for the BA before their specialist unit, I'd love some Mk IV or some beakiesAlso waiting for Salamanders to get some love
>>11209609Sadly, my first exposure to the Primarchs was that fanart by Nicolas R Giacondino that used to show up on /tg/ all the time, so my mind's eye of Dorn is terribly off base.
I'm surprised that we haven't gotten any of the new terminator mold in space wolf colors
>>11210736Give it time, they're going hard as fuck on 30K giving us all flavors of Termie over there
>>11210816I wonder if the 30k line is just as successful or even more successful than the 40k line at this point. We have had more 30k releases recently, and better quality ones as well, as if they are putting more effort into their 30k figures and are making (or GW is making) better decisions on what to make in the 30k line than in the 40k line.
>>11210867Yeah, I have heard 30K is doing really well, and people seem really excited for it. I don't personally like 30k much, I am kind of a dedicated sci-fi person and it veers too "medieval knight" for me a lot. Which is a shame, cause the toys do look very high quality.
>>11210736You mean Leviathan terminators? I'm interested what Joy will do. They can either conjure custom SW terminators themselves, with fur, belts and all the whistles for proper wolfy look, or they'll just release them as vanilla termies, but painted in different colours, which is, frankly, just lame.New Blood Angels terminators from 40k are giga boring. Btw, I'm surprised they didn't use bits from upgrade sprue, it had chest, helmet, and shoulders for Levi termies. Can Joy really make up something without having GW source material? There is nothing for Wolves on new termies. IIRC, the only new fully custom Levi termies are Deathwing Knights and JT recently-ish released their old sculpts.
>>11210941storm bolters are very silly weaponsonly reason they're not literally just two bolters bolted together is they only have one handle
>>11210868I wonder why, since my understanding is that nobody gives a shit about the 30k tabletop game. It could be the higher average figure quality, the better and more consistent choices for which figures get made, getting the primarchs in their prime, or maybe just Primaris fatigue and that hardcore fans just want figures that resemble old marines. I thought at first that it would just be a oneoff thing, but 30k has grown into an entire separate line and it seems to be the focus of their attention at this point while 40k gets scraps.
>>11210961Course they're silly. Looks like they're holding toasters. But this is iconic by now.
>>11210962The whole Horus Heresy push brought in a ton of curious new fans. That trailer they released did a lot of good for the brand I think, got people interested and talking.
>>11210967I'm not complaining for the record, I have always liked the idea of 30k and enjoy seeing it fully realized in really good toys. However it does make me concerned that GW is going to fuck it up now that it's becoming more popular.
>>11210962I never cared for Forge World and all resin/$ related mini bullshit, but I always appreciated "atmosphere" of Heresy campaigns that were written by the likes of Alan Bligh (RIP) and others. They made a very compelling and gritty sub-setting for military history enthusiasts, and the way they were written was very akin to pseudo-historic books.Badab Wars was also the masterpiece, and I feel like it's Heresy related, even if it was far up in 40k, but it had plenty of Heresy exclusive stuff sprinkled in as relic gear. I've devoured all Black/Imperial Armour books and asked for more.Amazing art and dioramas that made universe feel real.So the second I got the opportunity to actually nab these figures that I were seeing in books, I jumped in right away.
I opened this package expecting it to be the first of the Thousand Sons, but I guess this fucking blueberry is alright too
>>11211048I really hope that if the Horus Heresy figures keep coming at this same rate that we start to get some more unique and nonstandard veteran tactical marines. I would love to see kitbashed MkV Heresy armor, armor sets with mismatched components, sets made using MkII armor, etc. We've been seeing a lot of the shiny new early-war armors and I hope that the designs progress into later-war variants now that there are molds made for all of the common armor models used.
>>11208776But they're cool!
>>11211048I can't wait for mine to arrive. Somewhere along the way, I started to get really excited for Ultramarines. Never would have expected it.
>>11211048IN THE END ALL WILL BE ULTRA
>>11211108Ultra mind virus got you bro
The arm fucking broke. What do I do now?
>>11211518Contact the chinks
I heard someone say the knight is up for preorder on 11/11 is that true or just a random fag making stuff up?
>>11211518It seems the part just detached, probably a bit of superglue can solve it.OR IT'S ABADDON IN DISGUISE RUN ANON HE'S GONNA START ONE OF HIS RANTS ABOUT THE GOOD OLD DAYS
>>11211518Whelp, I already know a certain faggot will be spamming this pic (probably claim that he bought it, no less).
>>11211518just glue it.
>>11211518>brokeDo you know what broken actually means? A peg coming out of a hole is not a break. Glue the peg back into the hole dipshit.
>>11211518This has to be bait, no one could actually be that retarded. The peg is right there, you can see what came loose, just put superglue on it and shove it back in there, it'll set in a couple seconds and you'll be good to go.
I love these guys so much.
Red people have arrived
>>11212682Thoughts on paint finish? They look a bit too lacquered for my tastes, which is a shame, because it's the only flaw that prevents me from getting them, as I love distinct looking legionnaires.
>>11212762They are quite shiny and have the speckley look underneath the surface of their armor that reminds me of pearlescent/metallic Lego plastic. It's definitely intentional considering how hard they went on it, but whether you like it or whether you would prefer a more normal metallic red is up to you. I have always liked that particular look in toy plastic.
>>11212682>>11212817I have a feeling I will like the look of these in person. This kind of fine iridescence with gloss coat is always really attractive. I've been kind of afraid to give one a shot, I think I will like it too much and end up collecting ANOTHER chapter.
>>11212682they look so hot glued it's insane
>>11213420??
>>11213420bro if your hot glue looks like that come over and glaze my car
>>11211048I wish that these MkVI marines came with a chainsword. There is a distinct lack of chainswords in general in the 30k figures. I think only two of the imperial fists and one of the sons of horus actually came with one.
>>11213785Chainswords are not being included with most of the new 30k minis. So the figures are not going to get them either. Chainswords seem to be not too popular anyway, most people regard them as not worth the points cost.If you want them, just buy some 3D printed ones, loose ones on eBay, or just buy some older figures to steal it from (the $20 Intercessors all have them). I have like 50 of the damn things.
>>11213785>There is a distinct lack of chainswords in general in the 30k figuresiirc lore-wise chainswords weren't really a widespread thing in the great crusade, with their niche being filled more by less advanced but plentiful chain axes or power swords
>>11213804>>11213809Retarded shills
>>11213804>Chainswords seem to be not too popularThis is everything wrong with 40k nowadays.
