It just clicked for me that Slave 1 wasn't a big deal (and still shouldn't be) because Boba Fett was a bad guy in the OT, but he became popular enough that he became more of a neutral antagonist in the EU, now Disney want to shift him into hero territory, so he absolutely cannot have a ship with a name that "problematic."
I know this was probably blindingly obvious, but all the pieces just fell together for me right now, and I am just so tired of Disney's bullshit.

No issues with the joints here beyond just the initial tightness when using them the first time. I really like this set though. It's just a bunch of kitbashing with a couple of new pieces but they work pretty well. Guy with the short rangefinder is my favorite but probably because he's just a new torso and head on top of the Death Watch trooper body which is one of my top TVC figures ever. I wish they would have thrown in a few more rifles since that's what they all had in the show but oh well, I have extras. I wouldn't say no to another pack like this with some other members of the covert.

Cool.

>>11206636
I'm really not happy with how much I want these. I don't really like buying figures that are essentially just repaints (though as a Transformer collector you'd think I'd be used to it), but damn these look good. I really like the mismatched colours. I was disappointed how quickly Din dropped having the patchy armour when he got the full beskar. I kept waiting for him to paint it. Even Boba got his armour painted within a couple episodes.
>>
>>11206636
The high initial tightness is what struck me as unusual, obviously every figure gets a bit easier to pose after you've moved all the joints the first time but these guys started out way stiffer than anything else I've ever gotten. If yours were just a normal amount of stiff though that's good, means mine was just an outlier. And yeah, I definitely hope they do another pack of these, there's no shortage of background mandos for them to pick from throughout all 3 seasons.

Too many? What? We haven't gotten any 3.75" snowtroopers (excluding 5poa for obvious reasons) in an entire decade, and the last one was the commander variant, a regular snowtrooper hasn't been released for even longer, its last release was 2011.

I keep debating about picking up that set since I backed the Cantina also and passed on it the first time. Mr. Stevie said they're not gonna do pipeline reveals anymore. Don't really have a strong opinion on that, I can see both sides. I guess it's a little disappointing because I looked forward to them and they were nice for planning and creating hype. But being surprised by things is also nice like the Snowtrooper for example.

I guess this gives Hasbro more flexibility to move things around and maybe it will also reduce TVC crying since they won't see black series getting more and better pipelines.

As much as I want some of these, you gotta come back to reality. Black Series collectors have proven several times that they don't care about obscure or tertiary characters. The majority only want mains and army builders. Most of these would pegwarm and end up as plastic waste much like all of the others they've tried out in the line that are sitting for half price or less at most retailers still.
>>
>>11208729
iirc most pegwarmers are either disney's glup shittos that nobody likes or characters that are 1/2 of a case that just rot on the pegs because everyone who wanted one already has it, like what happens to lando
the real issue with most of the figures listed is that they're diorama fodder in a line that does next to nothing to support that

What exactly were you expecting? It's a $20 kids toy. It looks fine for what it is and with some paint and plugging up the holes it'd be about as good as a TVC version would. The actual bike wasn't exactly some complex looking vehicle to begin with.

>>
>>11208983
>>11209033
I think it looks bad too but I think the problem is the vehicle in the source material is just lame and uninspired in the first place so the toy isn't going to look very good either. I wish they would try to make the Epic line just a bit more compatible with TVC just to throw TVC collectors a bone but I guess it doesn't really matter to me if it's only going to be Mando shit anyway.
>>
>>11209122
Pretty sure the whole point of that line is to be a cheap one for kids. Paint was always the most expensive step on toy making and the prices for it have gone up significantly within the last few years. Doesn't really make sense to put more than what is necessary for a budget line when we can't even get washes and full paint hits on $35 deluxe figures these days. It's stupid to expect it on toys meant for kids to just bash around and scratch up.
>>
>>11209146
I wasn't aware the Revenge of the Sith toyline was for adult collectors, my mistake.
>>
>>11207719
That looks pretty cool. Makes me want to go grab K-2SO while it's on the pegs, too.
>>
>>11208903
>>11208913
Controversial opinion maybe, but I think this is exactly what it should be and hasbro is finally figuring their shit out for what a budget line needs to be. We got a servicable amount of articulation, a well-sculpted vehicle that made the obligatory play feature fully removable, and it was done in a way that allowed it to cost $20 in today's fucking mess of an economy. This mando figure isn't as good as a TVC mando, obviously, but it's at least a toy I would've enjoyed playing with as a kid, unlike all the other epic hero figures so far. The bike sacrificed paint instead of sacrificing physical details of the source material, which means you as the adult buyer of this legitimately kid-aimed toy (unlike TVC/BS which are pretty openly using adults as the primary market) can fix it yourself, as opposed to if they'd put the budget in more paint but made the bike inaccurate to compensate. It's not perfect, but it's good, and that's a huge improvement over the last several attempts at a non-adult-collectors' line, which have all been mostly terrible.
>>
>>11208903
>>11208913
That actually looks nice and can be even better with some paint and a clear stand but holy hell $20, this feels like $5 tops

heck, I got the speeders before this with a black armored trooper with shit articulation for $!4
(only real pic I have here. It makes a nice background filler though.)
>>
>>11209179
>but I think this is exactly what it should be
And you are wrong.
>>
>>11209163
In some ways it was. I didn't know a lot of kids that were buying up those Republic senators at the time. But for every one of those figures there were 2 or 3 Jedi or Clonetroopers with some sort of action feature. There used to be a nice balance between pleasing kids and collectors but the Disney acquisition and birth of the Black Series really fucked things up.

>>11209179
If they start doing the rest of the figures this way then maybe they will actually start selling. I know I would have grabbed a bunch of the Stormtroopers if they had this articulation, even though I have plenty of the TVC ones already. But cheap troopers are cheap troopers. At least presumably the Scout trooper will have it since he's got a speederbike as well.
>>
>>11209179
This is the level of articulation they use in the other Epic Hero Series lines, and they all fucking suck. Mostly because they use cheap plastic that flexes instead of letting the joints work, but also because they don't sculpt the figures with joint tolerances in mind.
>>
>>11209068

The problem isn't rubber.

There's a ton of rubbery stuff out there that are decades old without any hint of decay. So we already know what works and what doesn't.
The problem is that toy companies keep changing their formulas.
>>
>>11209307
They don't use rubber in speakers. If you pull that apart you'll find it's actually a papery cloth material.

>implynig paper flexes and bounces without disingrating because it's moving a million times per hour
The cone is made of a stiff material that could be made of of paper, the part that allows it to mvoe so much is rubber (or a synthetic) and is called the "surround", because it surrounds the cone.

Anyway, point is that there's rubbery materials that are still holding up decades later. Even the more common and shittiest held up for over two decades from constant play, like o-rings.
>>
>>11209707
The type of rubber used on an expensive speaker isn't really the same as what's used on a toy though.
>>
Anyone buy any Snowtroopers? I only got a 4 for now, figuring they'll do some 4 packs later and probably release them again for the Mando movie.

>>11210031

>>11210051
It's a completely new figure
>>
>>11210031
I don't preorder anything anymore but I'll probably get two when they're in stock. Hoping for a flametrooper retool, I'd get one of those too.

If they do a 4 pack I wonder if they will make the commander, which I think would require a fair bit of retooling, or the heavy from Battlefront 2 that only has a black pauldron. Or maybe it will just be 4 standard ones
>>
>>11210031
I put in a large preorder in case they sell out and don't do a 4-pack later, but if they announce a 4-pack I'll cancel these and get those instead. Figure looks perfect as far as I'm concerned, I think I'm always gonna have some misplaced nostalgia for the light gray undersuit the old figures used but this beige color looks more correct to how they were in the movie.
>>
>>11210066
Is it though?
>>
>>11210123
I imagine they are going to do the Commander at some point. The way they made the shoulder armor a separate piece makes it seem like they did that so they can flip them around later. Same with the chest armor. It's like the strategy they have with the Imperial Officer body where they can just tool the front half to have the different rank badges which could be used for the Commander or even someone like Veers. Then all they really need to make is the legs which could also be used for a new AT-AT driver later.
>>
>>11209710
literally is and can be though. you think that o-ring isn't rubber? It's why it eventually rotted 20-40 years later.

also
>expensive speakers
you realize even cheap ones need rubber, right?
Goes back to my statement about why even change the formula? It's cheaper to keep using the same shit, hence a lot of companies doing just that.
And I'm talking about toy companies too, hence indie companies like MGR having rubbery shit that haven't degraded since conception. Whereas companies like Hasbro keep changing their formulas for whatever reason and sometimes fucking up.
>>
>>11210159
Yes.They literally said during the reveal it was all new tooling and you can see that it has all the modern articulation like rocker ankles and barbell hips. This is what the last articulated Snowtrooper released looks like. From 2011.

>>11210563
I'm fine with either her or Arleil Schous winning. The good thing is Hasbro already has lower halves for both of them already tooled since Morgan Elsbeth can be used for Ventress and now we know that the Jude Law figure has the legs and feet that were used for Schous in the prototype we saw.
>>
>>11210623
>the Jude Law figure has the legs and feet that were used for Schous in the prototype we saw
I'm assuming Arliel is reuse of Jude Law instead of the other way around because we know the Skeleton Crew figs were delayed. They really made a Haslab tier a kitbashed figure lol
>>
>>11210630
Well the Cantina was also likely in development around the same time so that's probably why they used them for Arliel. And may also be why they opted to go for an updated Nabrun Leids since they basically had the budget to go for the extra arms since Arleil's legs were already taken care of. It doesn't bug me if it's reuse anyway, I'd rather have him than not and we don't see his lower half so there's no real complaining it's inaccurate. Just like what happened with the Jabba's Court 4 pack.

What are some good figures that can double as random background cantina patrons? I'm thinking about including Andor in his disguise as an off-duty imperial officer, young Lando as a random smuggler, and some of the random assholes from the Acolyte show as just generic patrons.
>>
>>11210949
>skiff guards 3 pack
>Jabba's Court 4 pack
>Weequay
>Kithaba
>Nikto
>Wooof
>Yakface
>Zutton
>Figrin D'an
>>
>>11211039
>The entire cast of the palace/barge
I already have most of these and they're going in Jabba's throne room or on the skiff. Some of them like Yakface are too recognizable but getting an extra Weequay or Nikto to throw in there could look good. I'm definitely putting Figrin D'an in one of the cantina seats thoughbeit since there was an 8th band member in the bar not on stage in the film. I also got the woman from the Andor show since she looks like a perfect generic background character.
>>
>>11211068
I find alien characters, even though they might have names or recognizable designs, to work better as generic backgrounders than human characters. If you don't mind lack of articulation, the old SAGA series with the blue card backs has a lot of random background characters and many can be found around $10 on ebay. 30th anniversary collection has some less recognizable characters too that aren't too expensive.
>>
>>11210949
Some of the ones I like to use are:

>Wandering Jedi Obi Wan
A good cheap figure with a perfect generic citizen look. You can repaint the shirt and pop on different alien heads to change it up. Also has a great soft goods robe that can be reused for other characters

>Nomad Boba Fett
Another one that's easy to get for cheap and when you take the soft goods off, the costume underneath has a cool look to it

>Pod Racers
Fun aliens that add a nice height variety and are also pretty easy to obtain on eBay
>>
Is there anything not from SW that might blend in?
>>
>>11210949
>>11211202
I would also add the Klatoonian Raider. A couple of them together also work great as more muscle in Jabba's palace. Also JoyToy has some pretty cool figures that can fit in just fine for Star Wars.

We're supposed to get a few more reveals at MCM and Pulse 1027. There will probably be something Cantina related in those.

Epic mando bike set got here super fast from Walmart's site, it's still definitely not perfect but it is 3.75" scale; the bike overall looks in-scale comparing it next to other 1/18 bikes and the size of a TVC figure, and while the epic figure is broader at the shoulders and the neck was extended a bit unnaturally too far for the plastic cape to fit, it still looks 3.75", the waist and shoulders are at the exact same heights as the TVC figure. That being said, though, whoever designed the bike seems to have assumed the front/nose section proportions were similar to an imperial speeder bike, which is not actually the case, mando's bike in the show was slightly shorter than this at the front and had a steeper slope down from where the handlebars connect. Doesn't ruin it or whatever, but it's a weird thing to get wrong when getting it right would've been less plastic and thus even cheaper to make. Also the pedals are too big for the size of the bike, because the epic figure's feet are confusingly oversized even relative to itself. You can secure the TVC figure's feet by sliding them in between the oversized footpeg and the body of the bike, and it works, but it would've been nicer if they'd made the whole pedal smaller. Still, I like that this exists since a TVC one probably never will, and at $20 it doesn't feel like a horrible waste.

And then shoving this tangent in its own post, the figure is frustrating because the articulation is good enough to do fun poses with and the sculpt detail quality is fine, but the proportions are almost like a PotF2 figure for reasons I cannot comprehend. I guess the feet being oversized makes the figure more stable and the hands being oversized makes them less likely to break, which is tolerable, but the shoulder width seems unreasonable, alongside the helmet size, not even getting into how they made the neck too long. It's a fine toy, I would have loved it as a kid, but it would've been better to have dialed back on the muscleman proportions. It doesn't need to be TVC-tier by any means, but it doesn't need to be PotF2-like either. Still miles ahead of the previous epic hero figures, so much so that I'm tempted to learn how to repaint this into a good-looking background covert mando, since it feels a lot less bad if I mess this figure up in the process compared to a TVC one.
>>
>>11211282
Cool, I'm going to see if they have it in stores this weekend for the heck of it. If not, I guess I'll just order it online.

>>11211315
It being a bit buffer would definitely work for a few of those covert Mandos. I just rewatched most of the season 3 episodes after getting the Shriek Hawk pack and there was one dude especially who was a pretty large, even compared to Paz. How is his head connected? If it's just a ball joint then it could even be possible to swap his head with one of the spare helmets that comes with the Forge playset.
>>
>>11211354
It's definitely a balljoint, but it's on there super tight, gonna have to wait until I have more free time to try to boil the helmet to get it off without potentially damaging it. The whole figure is extra hard plastic aside from the cape, much moreso than a TVC figure, so it doesn't have enough natural flex to get the head off easily. If I can successfully paint this guy, I'd rather keep his head with him and put the forge heads on TVC bodies painted to match them, which I could maybe actually do after getting some less risky practice in with this.

So as it turns out we're both right. The most common materials for surrounds are foam, rubber and paper/cloth.
I was just going off destroyed speakers I've encountered in my life (harvesting the magnets from dead speakers is pretty common in workshops).

I actually just got the Joytoy Koseidon since he looks like he could blend in as a background character really well. I thought about throwing in a random battle sister as a little easter egg too. A lot of their other figures are too modern military looking to fit in but there are a couple others I have been looking at. I also went ahead and got an extra Nikto and Weequay. I think that some of the Acolyte jedi could also work as random robed background people, and if they don't end up looking good there, I can always use them as generic AOTC background jedi.

>>
>>11211727
Looks like another re release. That is a great figure but I don't know how I feel about the new cloth cape. I feel like the plastic worked pretty great, especially for the hood. It also came with robes laying on the ground to recreate Vader striking him down into the force.

You basically just listed every star wars Shfiguarts on my wishlist. Along with >>11212097 ep 3 obi. Lol. I think we have a better chance at them doing an ep3 Palpatine for next years ROTS 20th anniversary than them rereleasing that set with the throne and the royal guards that was hundreds of dollars. They also revealed the E wing pilot for TVC and a repack of Aurra Sing. I have been wanting them to repack Aurra for a while but it seems like they left out her box of lightsabers this time which is really disappointing.

I don't think there's any way to know when they will stop production on figures unless you see them sold out everywhere and retailers start cancelling orders which means they won't be getting more but by then it's already too late.

The 6 inch reused ANH Leia legs so they could've done that too, maybe reuse the arms and head of this and all they would need to do is tool a new torso.

There is actually so much TVC could do with very minimal new tooling. They could've given us the 6 inch Sidious because all you need is soft goods and a new head on BOBF Luke. Sad it seems that even stuff like that is not possible for them.

I don't mind the Obi-Wan since it's similar to the Mythos look but Yord we could have done without. One thing I learned though is someone on one of the sites did a breakdown and apparently Sol is basically a basic buck and the tabards he's wearing is a separate overlay glued on. So it's possible they made that body to use as a template for all future Jedi figures while only having to tool minimal things like overlays, heads, and lower legs.

She wrapped her long legs around his little haunches as he pumped into her.
Holding him like this there was less chance he would slip out when he became
over-eager and started to thrash about.
He had gotten better.
She didn't know if it was what she taught him here in her chambers or some type of Jedi training.
She savoured his movements and thrust up to meet him.
He may have gotten more patience and more patience
but he was still a boy.
His hunching became more erratic and she felt him jet insider her with one final shaky thrust.
He collapesd on her panting and she rocked slowly as she ran her fingers through his sweat dampened hair.
After a while she could feel his "saber" start to swell and with a shuddering start began to move again.
This had been just the second time and as their combined lust slowly dripped from her slightly opened thighs
she smiled.
She expected he could do this several more times - after all he was just a boy.

Not everyone wants the Cantina though (also fuck Haslab), and Arliel deserves to win more than the others purely on OT clout. I like Manny Jacinto as an actor, but there is a pecking order here.
OT>Prequel>>>>Disney.

That's fair, I certainly didn't back it, and I'm not a fan of them making certain figures exclusive to haslabs, even if I understand why they do that.
>and Arliel deserves to win more than the others purely on OT clout... but there is a pecking order here.
This I disagree on and was why my initial post there was so aggressive. I didn't think just because something was part of the original trilogy that it automatically takes precedence over any other character from another type of media. I'm not trying to imply Arliel doesn't deserve to be made, but realistically he's a character that flashes on the screen for barely a moment. Saying that because he was in the OT means he's more deserving of a figure than a main character in the most recent piece of Star Wars media is some clown shit. Regardless, I appreciate you actually discussing things, especially when I started off hot.
>>
>>11215080
>Saying that because he was in the OT means he's more deserving of a figure than a main character in the most recent piece of Star Wars media is some clown shit.
It does border on hyperbole, I'll grant you, but it also speaks to a hierarchy of quality. It's undeniable that the OT in almost every regard is superior to anything that has come out from Disney, so people are more responsive to that. Qimir, does warrant a figure for no other reason than he has a cool as fuck helmet (and cool designs are something that have been seriously lacking in Disney productions). The Acolyte has been pretty much universally hated (for one reason or another), whereas A New Hope is beloved and Arleil has never gotten a figure before, which I know is also true of Qimir, but Arleil has a 40 year headstart here.
I'm of the opinion that new shows shouldn't get a lot of figures straight away, because the response to them is fairly unpredicatable. I'd say put out a figure of the main character, and the bad guy (if it's not a big late series reveal) and then wait to see what the response is. Acolyte figures are going to shelf-warm like crazy, yet a game that people loved like Fallen Order still only has Cal, Second Sister, and a smattering of grunts, most of whom are just repaints/minor retools. It's been five years and we still don't have a Cere, Greez, or Merrin.

>but Arleil has a 40 year headstart here
I understand that point of view for sure, but I personally look at it like; how necessary is it since he's gone 40 years without one? It's not like he's Vader and hadn't gotten a figure after 40 years. But then I'm the opposite end I do truly want then to produce figures of background characters especially cool aliens, I just don't want it at the expense of important characters. >>11215097
>yet a game that people loved like Fallen Order still only has Cal, Second Sister, and a smattering of grunts, most of whom are just repaints/minor retools. It's been five years and we still don't have a Cere, Greez, or Merrin
I agree 100% with this sentiment. Honestly I feel like anger in both sides is misplaced, people who disliked the Acolyte shouldn't be mad it's getting figures and I shouldn't be mad about a background character like Ariel getting a figure, we should collectively be mad about the 50 Din Djarin releases that are basically identical or Mando Ahsoka and Grogu getting the same figure re-released a bunch. They're what's pegwarming my stores. I haven't even seen any Acolyte TVC figures in person but the same Ahsoka with two different card backs and the same Grogu figure on just a new card have been sitting for literal months.

Hasbro needs a better variety of characters while balancing the mediums better. Each wave could easily be a main/prominent character or two, a background character and an army builder. And pack more of the main characters guaranteed to sell like your Lukes, Anakins, Hans and the army builders like clone/storm troopers.

Don't get me wrong these are amazing but you have to ask why such a popular character like Starkiller still don't have his fan favourite version in plastic? Same with ML and Daredevil/Ghost Rider, they took a long ass time to release them.

My guess is that they preserve these slam dunks for when sales are low or something. If you release what everybody wants nobody will care about the line anymore so they keep going with lesser characters and release a famous one when people start to lose interest.
>>
>>11215993
What do you mean?
>>
>>11216168
usually the reason for not making fan favourites boils down to disney not giving them the ok to make then and hasbro being reluctant to make new moulds
although the idea that hasbro is keeping the popular characters in reserve for emergencies does have some merit as sw is in a pretty major slump atm, more so than usual at least

Very good looking Luke, but the lack of ankle joints really hurt this figure, as striking any pose becomes quite difficult and that is where BS and SHF are better, but sculpting of the face is definitely the selling point here
>>
>>11216168
>Don't get me wrong these are amazing but you have to ask why such a popular character like Starkiller still don't have his fan favourite version in plastic?
There are a ton of popular fan favorite characters that still don't have figures. Shaak Ti and Luminara are very iconic prequel Jedi that are only just now getting figures 12 years after the line started. If it was just Lucas Star Wars, it might have been easier but now they have to balance Disney characters too. So there is a lot to do but only so much you can do with finite time and budget.

>If you release what everybody wants nobody will care about the line anymore
This is also true.
>>
>>11216641
I was looking at some of these unlicensed Star Wars figs for the novelty. I guess they're kinda like mini hot toys but if I'm honest, I don't really like fully soft goods figures which is why I don't really like hot toys either. But I was surprised how cheap these are. The Boba Fett is only about $20 I think which is crazy. I guess lack of license fees keeps the cost down.
>>
>>11216821
well, this one was not exactly cheap, around 90 buck in total including shipping
price could be cheaper without the dark trooper wreck >>11213478
oh, another point to take notice, articulation while it is good (double joints in knees and elbows) the fabric obviously limits the range
should joints in particular feel a bit too stiff for my liking so caution is a must when handling it to avoid breaking something
a display case would also be necessary, because all that black fabric will end up collecting dust and be very noticeable

I'm a big Snowtrooper guy, so this announcement is the best possible news for me. Can't wait to armybuild these guys. I wouldn't really be shocked if we see the Epic line sort of morph into the dedicated movie line for TM&G as it gets closer to release since so much of it is focuses on the Mandoverse already. >But honestly this has to be one of the worst figures in TVC
Not even close, TVC is full of absolute trash 10+ year old sculpts that never should have been rereleased. That Leia is just a difficult figure to sculpt and it's never going to look perfect at this scale no matter what you do. I guarantee that a soft goods version would have looked even worse, like they tend to do at this scale.

At least you can still pose most of them. This is no better than the 3 POA salt shaker figures from TPM or SAGA lines.

Palpatine, Bib Fortuna, Morgan Elsbeth all look good with soft goods. I think Leia would've looked fine. I get the aesthetic argument though so maybe a compromise would have been making the slits in the skirt larger. The upcoming TBS has larger slits and looks like you can actually move her legs even with the plastic in the way.

Is it Target or Walmart that has the Micro Galaxy Squadron podracer 3-pack?

Why did brick and mortar retailers give up on Star Wars? No one actually stocks any of this shit anymore.
>>
>>11221481
disney/ hasbo kept shipping out waves and waves of characters nobody wanted and nobody bought them
this caused a lot of retailers to all but give up on the brand and only have bare minimum stocked
>>
The community has spoken. The most wanted TVC figure is a character who 90% of Star Wars fans do not know and is in the background of the movie for one frame.
