did you get any dolls from the black friday sales?
I got music festival Lagoona, Clawdeen and a few zuru minifashion

Dont know yet, they usually come out around the new year. I dont think disney gives us sneak peeks for the disney park ones either
>>
>>11244705
I think the disney version with inset eyes flopped, i don't think we will get new ones. Plus there been no new fashion or set for a while.
As for the jakk pacific ones they recently came out with a "budget" or lower price point dolls with single outfits recently, so i don't think the line is doing well

Their fashion packs were really fun but the dolls were starting to get really mid. Personally felt like the quality on the painted eye dolls that they started prioritizing was worse but more people like them I guess.

They were a Walmart thing. Ball gown is still available and sellers still carry some uniform versions.

I bought this and Enid for my niece as a christmas gift. I had a hard time justifying paying 65 for the school uniform Wednesday, even though I really like that one. Then I found the paint it black fashion set and I went. "I want one."

The two I got arrived in the mail today. They're lowkey beautiful.

Anons, are chinese blind box dolls fine for this thread? They aren't exactly super expensive/notable to be posted in BJD thread. I made a general thread for chinese blind box figures once and it didn't take off.

New straight guy Barbie collector here.
Need some advice. I recently bought a Barbie extra 3 . And as i was playing with it, i find some robber wire behind her sliver necklace and decided to cut it off. After that, her necklace no longer be able to held on her neck . I thought all decorations of barbies are removabl, like most of the boys/guy's action figures I bought in the past, so it's not like that ?
>>
>>11248800
Yeah some accessories are a scam and only are held on by an elastic band or tie, welcome to modern Barbie
>>
>>
>>11248057
I genuinely think the LOL stylization looks the best on the OMGs, followed by the Tweens, while the blindbox tots/babies/pets are dead last
>>
>>11248002
I don't think price is a concern over there, as long as they're cute.

>>11248057
No clue how common these are, but:

I would prefer if dolls didn't come with any accessories at all, and instead they came exclusively as little theme packs. More budget for both instead of so many dolls having mediocre base bodies AND mediocre clothing.

Sculpted clothing is perfectly fine, problem is that they're too stingy with it. They already cut costs by saving on fabric, doing so on paint and plastic quality is begging for your final product to be garbage.

Articulation is more important than "aesthetics". Most dolls with fixed limbs look terrible despite sacrificing great amounts of movement for that appearance.
>>
>>11248800
They're intended to stay on and be swappable. But sometimes the quality is poor and they fall off easily for anything but posing. It's not really something that can hold up to play or movement.
>>
>>11249178
Odile again

>Barbie extra

what a mixed bag that line was. They all go way too hard and I'm not sure who they are for.

I picked up pick related because of the strong 80s vibe. Really like the dress and hair. Haven't opened it yet, but when I do I'll probably take off a bunch of the accessories to tone it down.

I used to see the extras a lot at TJMaxx, Ross, and Ollies but I think they are all gone now.

If you are a straight dude and like figures, look into the Barbie Looks line and Made to Move dolls. Both have elbows, Knees and ankles. You can customize your own stuff if you figure out how to pop heads off cheapies and put them on the more articulate bodies.

Being a barbie fan is kind of suffering right now. You can dump a lot of money into getting clothes, bodies, and heads that you want to produce something cool.
>>
>>11244505
>did you get any dolls from the black friday sales?

From Amazon:

Scare-adise Island Frankie Stein - $9
Refresh core (194735183326) Draculaura - $12.50
Abby B (194735139446) - $11.20
And a box of count chocula to get me over to free shipping.

At Walmart I got
Ivy - $13.30
Scare-adise Island Draculaura - $9

Other bargains to be aware of is that ROSS has the budget Drac, Frank and Claw for $12 or $13. And Ollies as the LOL OMG FIERCE Cleopatra for $40 if you want to rob it for Cleo clothes. Though you could just as well buy the "Howliday Doll, Winter Edition Cleo De Nile" for $38 and be in about the same ball park, just a lot more gold.

There were a lot of monster high dolls on sale in the past 4 days but there isn't much point in double dipping characters. The clothes on many of the past few lines have not been that interesting. The most interesting MH dolls of the past 4 years were all sniped to death on the Mattel website.
>>
>>11251123
>"Howliday Doll, Winter Edition Cleo De Nile"

that and the Haunt Couture Midnight Runway Cleo De Nile are two of the current MH dolls that I think really conjure the vibe of G1. Shame about the prices.
>>
how are the Disney Collector 100 Years of Wonder dolls? They appear to be like half off at mattel.com. I'm intriqgued by them having joints and not being solid piles of shit like the disney dolls at wallmart and target.

based on the likeliness of the designer Harris Reed. since he's male I'm assuming the same for the doll but then again I could be wrong. it's being marketed as a "genderfluid doll", so I'm wondering if that means they mixed some of the male and female dolls to achieve that. like the base shape for the face being modeled off the female dolls and the rest of the body modeled off the male ones.
>>
>>11252233
>>11252151
okay so I was right. it's a manster body + ghoul face. in short a feminine male doll. don't really see that often so I'll give them props for that. I wish he wasn't marketed as being "genderfluid" though
>>
>>11252233
I have one, can confirm the chest is flat, but I haven't taken them out of the box so I don't know if there are other femme parts. The face is very femme but the hands are masculine. Haven't checked the feets.

The nazis in this thread will yell at me but I've been wanting a doll with more different bodies so I like this one. Never heard of this designer before but I don't really care. Idk why you get into a franchise about accepting others despite their strangeness and be a big weirdo about people wanting different bodies than thin and femme. Doll cute.
>>
>>11252244
i'm the anon that said I like that mh made a femboy doll but yikes
they live rent free on your head, go see a therapist
>>
>>11252247
Hm I do need therapy but not because I think it's not that serious to play with bodies in a line of monster dolls. Some bitches in these threads think it's very serious though. Why you getting defensive, bro?
>>
>>11252261
no i'm not, just pointing out you're giving the "nazis" satisfaction by showing how they bother you. grow up.

>>11252244
>>11252247
>>11252261
>>11252265

you both hush. The nazi hates all discussion of character lore and admitting some dolls are based on attractive people.

They can't get angry at a doll being flat or built from male and female parts, when it physically is and that is the product being offered at the store.
>>
>>11252244
>da nazis

go back

>>11248057
There's no dolls drought coming but it's more like a mga's dolls draught.
They were dominating the shelves before 2023 and really pushed people expectations and standards, now that mattel is dominating the shelves with even better design and quality than their past flop years is still not enough for most collectors as their yearn for that mga era back. Like how are they going to redress their monster high dolls without the good brands.
