The trick to combiners is figuring out how to have strong enough joints to support limbs without adding needless bulk to the base bots.Hasbro figured, basically just make the combiner it's own figure, that the various limb bots (and torso) plug into.It's a cheat, but works.The other way is probably to make the limbs super light and hollow, and that means not very complex

There was some slight jank, due to it being their first attempt, but it's still insanely impressive, and their Defensor looks to be turning out even better. Seriously, they somehow figured out how to get forearm and wrist swivels on it, despite them being made from two shins smushed together. They've also got a Devastator in the works, which just floors me with how it's even possible. The arms just, appear out of nowhere. They seem to be one of the only companies out there actually interested in doing any cool combiner engineering

I spent a good while just studying their First Aid's arm mode just to get a sense of how their swivel tech works(I think it would be perfect for a choryujin shoulder joint) and it's both insanely clever and surprisingly simple. Wish they'd share some of that black magic around, but unfortunately most collectors aren't really concerned about cool combiner tech as long at it looks good. There was another company, I forgot the name, that was doing their own all-in-one Devastator, but more stylized, and with the leg bots as the arms and vice versa. Seemed pretty cool, but it personally annoyed me a little that they didn't take the opportunity to use Mixmaster's big cement barrel as a megaman arm cannon. Don't wanna derail by talking 3p too much, I'm using them as a prime example that good combiners are actually extremely possible in the modern age, and they don't even have to be AS complicated as MMC's as long as you can accept a little bit of compromise in the individual bots(which we're getting no matter what) instead of just slapping everyone onto a frame and calling it a day
