My local comic shop got in a single case of the Galaxy Vision TF figures. I bought half the case (ending up with Ratchet, Ironhide, Prowl, Jazz, the chase Optimus Prime). Sadly the rest of the box sold out before I could grab them and my local comic shop is dragging his feet on getting any additional cases in to sell. Anyone got a place where I can buy full cases of the 5-6 waves that have been released so far for a decent price?
>>
>>11277738
probably best to learn how to use a proxy and buy from Taobao. The sellers there are even willing to selling single, known figures. It's going to be harder going forward if anti-China policies are real.
>>
>>11277738
If you are US they have a dedicated site blokees.com the sales whole sets. They are a bit slow atm but I've order all the waves there no issues.
>>
>>11277734
It's funny to me that the original Powermaster Prime mold only has red eyes because it was late enough it was the result of Hasbro being cheap. His eyes were red because they're the part from the panel his face is bolted to.
>>
>>11277748
>hasbro being cheap
Huh?
The only cheap thing they did was the arms
The takara one has red eyes too
>>
So what’s wrong/going to be wrong with SS86 Devastator?
>>
>>11277798
It exists and that makes me angry! Rrgh!
>>
>>11277798
there's going to be a common defect with a connection in the legs rendering certain copies incapable of combining. Hasbro will not address this and people will continue to buy the constructicons anyway
>>
>>11277762
>The takara one has red eyes too
They painted them blue, only the super mode head has red eyes.
>>
>>11277798
Stress marks. The rest may vary.
>>
>>11277717
Personal opinion to compare and contrast with the whole "toyetic" aesthetic, red eyes is Powermaster Optimus Prime, blue eyes is Super Ginrai. And we're done.
>>
>>11277803
I think the Encore and Commemorative Series versions repainted the base Prime head's eyes blue, though they still couldn't bother painting the Super head's eyes blue to match the anime.
But, uh, were the appearances of Powermaster Prime in both his NA commercial animation model and "Season 5" animatronic red eyes? Just to make my point from >>11277837 match.

This is just getting confusing anymore. I have Metro and have no interest in a reissue but a lot of the community clearly want him but it's like Hasbro would sooner reissue The Legacy/Cybertron one before the G1 version people want.

Why? the TR one got as low as $35 at places like Ollie's. Yes that was 6 years ago but is anyone really going to be ok even sinking a $100 on the same mold of this size? I get it if this fucker was say a Deluxe class but his size alone makes him a hard sale for most to double dip.

Funny enough, G1 Optimus never has any red eyes in his commercial appearances. Original Prime got blue, Powermaster in both modes is blue, and when he finally gets Actionmaster, those are yellow.

>>11277991
Looks like they molded the teal green plastic in solid instead of translucent. No retooling, so the toy is cartoon colors but still has the visible eyes. Which is a shame, since having no eyes is like the defining feature of cartoon Trypticon.

>>
>>11278083
Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open. I didn't get back into collecting until about 5 years ago, so I completely missed the boat on Trypticon's original release. Since Ollie's doesn't exist around here (never even heard of the place until I started hanging around these threads, and I'm always jealous when someone posts that they found something cool for cheap), so I never saw him pop up in the wild on clearance, either.
He'll definitely be overpriced, but hopefully less than what the scalpers on eBay and the such are charging for the TR toy; besides, I like the black on the new one better.
>>
>>11278053
3 if you count the BBTS Omega Supreme reissue. We were already getting 2 commanders a year. 3 might be pushing it but they probably want to get the combiners done so we can get characters like big convoy

>>
>>11278252
well typically, and this is weirdly consistent yet rarely shown, in zoids.. the sides of the canopy are meant to be kinda where eyes go, especially if there's a bevel there. This always made sense to me
then again i also always saw car windshields as the eyes, and mocked anyone who thought the headlights were the eyes. a car is clearly built like a shark.

>>11278497
I have the worst QC luck on earth so I feel like I can speak to this.

Magmatron has very few QC issues. Bent sword here or there depending on the temp of the storage he was sitting in while being shipped or stored away. Can be fixed by boiling water. Dunno if I'd use a heat gun because it might damage the paint. My copy had sort of a loose elbow in robot mode which I fixed by wedging something behind the "tooth" of the ratchet which made it tighter. I also had a paint splotch thing on one of his silver toes. Another thing about the silver paint, it's very easy to chip/scrape off I think. Also I think the gold crest of his robot head can rub up on the inside of the flyer guy's tummy causing a few little blemishes, but it's still fine. I didn't have any stressing issues on my copy and I usually learn that the hard way.

Trypticon was SUPPOSEDLY fixed mid-wave he was released in, so that would carry over here. We don't know if anything new was introduced just yet, but I'm sure there will be posts about it the second this Gen Selects gets to peoples' hands. I imagine at worst, somehow the old problem will return. Or paint QC issues since they're not using stickers anymore and it looks like he has a few applications of paint where joints are. Time will tell.

And I know this was just something someone brought up as an example, but Tidal Wave's knees MIGHT have somehow been fixed in later copies. I know I returned my Tidal Wave because the Decepticon logo was not lining up at all on the aircraft carrier (I know that sounds autistic to send back, but it was 200 dollars, I demand better). The copy I got back didn't have knee stress, but I printed out little pieces to stick in between the tabs of where the gear slots in and it should be good and sturdy now. It's sad that like .002 cents of plastic fixes this issue. Just goes to show how much of a fucking afterthought this Titan was.

Did someone rob a factory or something? Saw a Megatronus up on ebay that tjey somehow have in hand.

>>
>>11278848
Sometimes it's just easier to paint the eyes when they're in a separate piece. Pretty sure that part is the same clear plastic as the windows, it's not going to look good as eyes and they're not going to have a separate mold for just the eyes.
But if they release this thing in show colors they can always have that runner in translucent blue for both the windows and eyes.

you know what? That might work... Squids are vaguely kinda boat-shaped. sorta, if you squint. I was thinking, if you need her to be a retool, you'd probably have better luck just reshelling ER Arcee. She's such an egregious shellformer you could literally replace her entire altmode and it wouldn't affect the base figure at all

the original had huge flaws too. we need a 'missing link' tigatron. take the original, fix the weird tiger face, fix the bad shoulders, give him wrist swivels.. and somehow make the tiger arms smaller but the robot legs bigger (maybe let them borrow some meat from the body, there's hollow areas)
oh and gut the missile gimmicks, those were stupid. let us pick the wing angle we want.
>>

To be fair, the new one (the Prowl redeco) is actually pretty good looking. I didn't buy it, but it's probably the best Chromia we have right now that isn't an Arcee repaint or whatever, even if she doesn't match the universe she's meant to.

Speaking of the new one, I took mine apart after the hip stopped ratcheting. I found that there is a springy cog ratchet thing in there that is literally held on by shitty plastic needles instead of...you know, being fucking molded into the hip part. I ended up destroying my Tigerhawk and am on the fence on replacing him since I added a bunch of upgrade kit shit to him way before this happened, but I have BBTS store credit that pays for it.

I also bent the fuck out of my knockout pin trying to get this piece of shit capped pin off even with the cap heated for over 2 minutes.
>>
>>11278975
shit, that changes my mind about whether i'll give him (or more likely a remold) a try or just sell the other half of my upgrade kit... when it finally comes in from BBTS
>>
>>11278981
Honestly, they might have fixed the issue because some people report nothing happening to them. It also happens in his right hip specifically. I have not heard a single person say it happened to them in the left hip and I've been following this for a while. I was hoping that the issue was that one of those shitty little springy boxes with the tooth on it slipped out of its containment area and would be able to be put back, but nah. It's so strange because this is one of their better ideas for the ratchets that don't use the metal springs, and they decided to top it off with nailing it in with like the weakest type of tabs I have ever seen. I expect that out of third party, not mainline.

The hip was fine without the ratchet btw. Still had plenty of friction, but my brain could not handle only one hip having a ratchet. So when it got looser after repeated heating of the pin, I just said "fuck this" and tore him apart. If I get him again, I'm just going to pose him in the cabinet and leave him there. This might just be an early copy thing, but the only way for me to know is to buy a new one and rip it apart.

Hell, if there was an actual market for a YouTube channel the way there is for those technology breakdowns, I'd gladly bite the bullet buying and destroying these figures to find out what makes them tick.

I mostly do this with titans. Sometimes Hasbro does the flimsiest shit. If anyone here has opened up their Commander Motormaster, that toy should scare anyone from getting the new Silverbolt, that thing is like a grenade. I'm shocked there haven't been reports of breaks, because it's that bad.
>>
>>11278987
She looks really cool in person but the one time I've seen her, she had a painting mishap on her shoulder and I was tired of getting bamboozled by QC shit. The mold I feel works more for her than it did for Prowl, but that might be because Prowl's headsculpt makes him look like a baby.

>>11278996
Honestly, go for it. I have (*had) both. I like the newer one better because he does what I want and I don't like the weird milky plastic of the original. Both aren't perfect. I'm trying to learn how to use CAD software better so I can make some semi-articulated hands or something with my 3D printer.

I actually think I'm going to use my store credit right now to buy Tigerhawk and pre-order that Vector Prime kit by DNA.

>>11279004
I got my Motormaster second hand and it didn't seem to have issues. I did scuff up the grey "outline" on his chest somehow and haven't been able to find a match. I think it helps to know that other people broke off those tabs and created stress marks for me since I do those steps carefully now to prevent it. Also helps I don't take him out of combined mode, but it does bother me that the red dude doesn't stay on the left shoulder well at all. Dunno how they fuck that up.

>>11279015
Here I go:

>Many of the ratchet joints are too strong compared to the plastic they're meant to interact with. Some of them will not move at all. For instance, the MM hip ratchets just shred the joint.
>There's a connection on MM's foot that has a post going through 2 loops. While not a huge problem thanks to some redundancy there, the post always breaks at least one loop per leg. Every MM I checked had that issue.
>Having to sandown the white pinned section connecting MM arms to the torso since many copies have the pinned slightly misaligned on at least one arm, leading to cracks forming on the black pinned sections
>Menasor's arm connection has several problems. The ratchet is rock solid, so removing the arm after combination is much harder than it should be, to the point the purple plastic on the inside will start developing stress marks. You also have to pull only that purple piece up or you risk breaking the shoulder. The ratchet causing these issues is on MM foot, so shaving down the tooth a bit is recommended.
>>
>>11279339
>Menasor's shoulder joint is barely held together by a pin and uses a square ratchet. This wouldn't be an issue, but they just used a normal pin to connect the purple torso connection a gear, which has the square ratchet over it, and the two Grey pieces go sandwiched between the gear. Due to not having the purple connection and gear be molded together or the gear being secured with something stronger, moving the shoulder can cause the pin to move, which is pretty bad since the arm will just fall off if it gets loose enough, the pin also bears the whole weight of the arm, which isn't a good thing when you also strap a deluxe to it. Oh and the square ratchet can also slip and lock the joint. The only reason I even checked the Menasor shoulder connection was due to the square ratchet slipping.
>Connecting Wildrider and Breakdown to the legs will lead to broken ports if you don't wear down the Menasor leg peg and mistransform both to avoid damaging the port (leave their legs slightly bent, insert them first, then peg the shoulders at the top, if the cars are transformed properly, the leg ports will crack).
>>
>>11279332

Cab ginrai*, my mistake
>>
>>11279343
I think Ginrai is about 8 meters, Optimus is around 6, but yeah, he was taller.
>>
>>11279293
Starting with Super God Masterforce, the bots get increasingly large as Japanese G1 goes. As such, actual MP scale toys would be gigantic (for example a correctly-scaled MP Star Saber would be titan sized). Because of this they decided to make them CHUG scale since they'd still be decently large toys.
>>
>>11279342
>>
>>11279345
It's not CHUG scale because the CHUG JG1 bots are also smaller than they should be. Compare MP Star Saber to Haslab Star Saber.
MP Ginrai is too big for CHUG using Haslab as the reference.

Also got this, two translucent core transformers, bee and OP. And my kissplayers OP.

Gotta say, Hot Rod sucks to pose so far, maybe I just gotta get used to it. Aside from that and the little scratch on his chest, I like him a lot. No idea how to transform him though since the seller did not include instructions. I will have to watch a video I guess.

Maybe they could follow the logic of the Noah toy from RotB and have her have a detachable backpack and able to be used as a gun by bigger ones, but you'd want to have her be able to swap between exposed and helmet heads. Seems super unlikely since Core Class is kill. The only other way I could imagine her working was if she came with Bumblebee as a statue, but she didn't.

How is Legacy Tigerhawk? Is he good quality and has no issues or anything? Thinking about getting him. Or do you think I might be better off getting the original figure off ebay or something? Both look pretty badass to me but the legacy one looks obviously more posable and overall cleaner

awful proportions, stupid beast head, and hollow-ass wings (fixable with DLC that as far as I know has not released yet but I have it pre-ordered, and it comes with Silverbolt's improvements too)
one anon had a bad hip ratchet
beyond that, I mean, it's finally a sorta-kinda-not-really-tv-accurate version of Tigerhawk after all these years, and it's still a big robot tiger-hawk so you really can't get too mad. Bought the DLC on ebay, it arrived on Friday... When I first saw the kit I thought it was vital. In hand I don't think it changes enough of Tigerhawks flaws, the mask sucks and now one of the birb legs won't stay plugged in in bot mode.
Silverbolt has some goofy ass proportions in beast mode without the kit. He still has goofy ass proportions with it.
I guess I was dumb enough to think it was going to be magic.
It doesn't even address Silverbolts worst issue which is his feet imo. They are *fine* in bot mode but beast mode - the range of motion always looks odd, no claw articulation looks like shit. (not to mention his long ass legs look like shit in beast mode no matter what.)

>>11280396
>Visor gimmick on mainline
okay, but that's not "new". The MP has it.
>Old figma like tier accessories
don't really know what you mean by this, but the MP has more accessories. Including a fishing pole.
>Easily the best range of articulation on any official Hotrod, the other deluxes didn't even had wrist swivels and the Mps can't get their legs as high.
so basically the only thing here is slightly better articulation. Which isn't really a motivating factor for me when I buy a toy. Might be a hot take, but I don't think wrist swivels automatically make something worth buying if I think everything else about it is boring.

and imo, the MP btfo's the SS just by not having a fake chest.
>>
>>11279291
>shit
>ON SALE

>>
>>11280551
Honestly, the upgrade kit makes it look worse imo. I almost bought this kit, but then I realized I just really didn't want any of it. I would have preferred for Tigerhawk if they gave him new hands and skipped the blasters and dumb mask gimmick thing. Wing fillers are fine, but I already have the resin ones from eBay. Could have also given him a new back to his robot head so you can articulate it better without cutting the little plastic bridge near the neck. The new beast feet make no sense to me, because I thought the ones that he already has are fine. The should have just made some fillers, gave him some new hands since the ones he came with can be popped out easily, and called it a day.

The Silverbolt addons, while a great idea, are horribly executed. They also use the famous "DNA plastic" which is weird and waxy feeling and looking.
>>
>>11280600
>I don't quanitify figures in terms of articulation and cartoon accuracy alone. Crazy concept, I know
I never said those were the only good points, transformation is pretty impressive too.

>Also I like good alt modes, and SS Hot Rod's was fucking awful.
That's an exaggeration. I don't like the yellow hinge on top of the car and the knees in the back could have been hidden better, but taking into account what the toy does at that size I can get past them. There needs to be a balance between looks in both modes and articulation. Going by your pic, if you think Classics Hot Rod is comparable due to the alt mode being cleaner your priorities are pretty skewed, I still like it but that thing is barely posable. Even the weird SS shoulders blow the Classic's ones out of the water.
Animated Hot Rod is the closest contender.
>>
>>11280520
That one autist is going to scream at me for bringing it up, but the TransArts Silverbolt is superior to this on pretty much every level - he's basically just the old 90's toy (even kept the same transformation) scaled up and with better articulation. Shame he's MP scale, but the point is that this is all Hasbro needed to do. I have no idea why they felt they had to reinvent the wheel, or why they thought anything about his alt mode was passable, but it was perfectly possible for them NOT to fuck him up.

These guys were such a treat. I was so hyped for legends class figures with targetmasters to become a regular "thing", but it died off pretty fast.

>what tfs you been liking recently anon?
like out of recent releases? Not much. I think the last "new" bot I got was Legacy Animated Prowl, and he looks pretty cool in bot mode at least. I think the last toy I actually bought in a store was that little rise of the beasts skullcruncher targetmaster, and he's nifty.

If you mean what I've been liking recently in general, I got Takara Generations Ratbat and he rules. Also went on a spychanger kick. Mirage, Silverstreak, and Daytonus are pretty rad. Oh, and Transformers Prime Hardshell, holy shit. Perfect example of a bot with so much style and presence that I don't care how jank his posability is. Beast Hunters Bulkhead and Huffer were two other surprises from the Prime commander class.

I only recently got T30 Trailbreaker, but he's pretty neat. I love his stylized truck mode, and the fact that he comes with a shield that actually convincingly integrates with his alt mode is a nice touch that gives him some personality. I got him at the same time as this decepticon repaint of the old chug windcharger. I don't remember his name, but I like to pretend he's friends with Trailbreaker despite being an opposing faction.

>that might be the best snakeformer ever
Personally, I'm more fond of Night Viper - while most of the robot mass is still in the head, he's a bit slimmer because his robot legs are now the tail. I just wish the tail itself had a few more segments, but he still looks cool as-is.
>>
>>11281468

>>11281490

>>11281501
yeah but having to fold up an entire leg on the bodty, and the arms, AND the big fucking arm pylons that, cool as they are, require more beast mode meat and thus should have been cut (make a mantis shrimp if you want those).. leaves so little room for the head that it looks like a cobra swallowed a walkman.

>having to fold up an entire leg on the body
That's...not how his transformation works. BOTH legs become his tail - they slide out of the hip joint and hang behind his body, so they contribute no mass to the snake head at all. The arm pylons are thinner than Colada's robot legs, which also slims him down significantly; the reason the head looks segmented from the hood is because they were going for realism - a cobra's hood is its upper ribcage, and starts below its actual neck, while Colada's starts at the corners of his mouth for some reason and makes his head look fatter and fused to his body. Considering the size class difference (Colada's a Deluxe, while Night Viper is only a Basic, roughly around the size of a modern Core class), Night Viper is the more impressive of the two.
>>
>>11281509
ohhh they do the thing I wanted
well that's pretty cool then. but the arm pylons still add too much.
>upper ribcage
yeah but like a lot of reptiles, their ribcage starts immediately
>night viber is a basic
seriously? okay, that does get more respect from me then. That's impressive for a basic.
>>
God Bomber, Sky garry, and Wing saber should kiss
Or appear in other media more idk
>>
Also forgot to mention - they managed to squeeze a springloaded 'lunging' feature in there as well (the yellow 'gem' on the top of his hood is the button) - that pic had his head extended so I could pose him with his mouth open. The mechanism is isolated to the top part of his hood so the entire snake head can tuck into the torso in robot mode, which is why he has the arm covers to make up the rest of the hood - those parts really have nowhere else to go due to how tiny he is, but they managed to make do with the extra mass by using it to hide his Spark on one side and a flip-out poison blade on the other.
>>
>>11281515
yeah that does explain the head being so separated.

Aye, that's fair. The lack of midscale beasties moving forward is definitely a bit of a disappointment.
I've got the opposite problem, MP scale doesn't gel with me despite how refined and impressive the engineering at that scale can get. Bots that are a hand, hand-and-a-half, in size are where I find the most fun.
>>
Don't tell me we need to wait for the year of the rabbit for Stampy.
>>
>>11281561
yeah exactly. I mean I feel like you HAD to make MP scale what it is for beast guys, in order for Cheetor to be in scale with Megatron (and to have any chance of doing rattrap. as it is blackarachnia was pretty compromised in beast mode)
But that doesn't change the fact that it's a big bulky mass of panels, and that's kind of unpleasant to hold, looking at videos and how they sway. I grew up with chunky stuff plastic figures and that's how I likes em. Nice medium size..hell I'll go as high as two hands

Storage/resting question. Does it put less stress on the figure to store em in robot or vehicle mode? We tread back to the time Power of the Primes made Battletrap individual Transformers for each component, and sell these Duocon-style sets as individual Deluxes by selling the Multiforce this way. We get Wingwaver, Dashtracker, and Machtackle (the second one has to be renamed to not make two of its members feel too similar in English), all so that we can still get Landcross despite the loss of Core Class.

Big transforming robots are kind of a new market for GSC. They are very different from figmas and nendos.
So the growing pains are pretty obvious.

so how exactly are the new constructicons different from the combiner wars ones?

Maybe they don't have time anymore? I lurk more and post but need time (which I lack) to make new photos.

I checked my local meijers the day after Christmas and didn't even see a transformer display, which is pretty unusual. Maybe they were in the middle of reorganizing post-holidays or something, idk. I'd buy that little G1-looking core Optimus if I saw him, he looks neat.

I would but email verification/timer and pictures coming out sideways deters me. =(
Is there anything that fixes the issue on mobile without needing to transfer them to my PC?
>>
>>11283232
My ancient tablet stopped working with captcha a couple years ago so I've just gotten used to transferring before posting. I don't know what's up with the timer though, at first I'd heard that it had something to do with whether or not you had a certain cookie in your browser? I haven't had to wait to make a post but I see people complaining about it now and then. I'm not sure why it happens, it certainly never fixed the spamming issue on certain other boards.
Also I really want to find just the right size coin and stick it in that hole on your shelf. A US dime maybe?

I just use the corner of my bathroom because the white walls/counter reflects light about as well as I could expect from an interior shot. I could probably find a better place in my house for it but I'd rather not be judged by the other people in my house for standing around posing my toys for pictures.

Anyway go for it, man, as long as you can frame it well enough to show the thing off. Honestly, it helps some people decide whether or not they want the thing if you try out different poses to test the range of motion or articulation. For what it's worth also, you can buy pose stands for dirt cheap, and in bulk. Opens up a lot of new dynamic display options.
