Honestly the whole argument about Transformers vs Mecha is hilarious to me given not only did Transformers start as Mecha (Diaclone), not only did it later revisit those roots with the Master gimmicks, not only that it’s had literal hundreds of Mecha designers working on it since its inception, but the centerpiece character, Optimus Prime, was designed by the guy who would later go on to create one of the most famous Mecha series of all time, Macross, which in turn was responsible for Jetfire's initial design
