Which fucking idiot is going to pay $43 for a tiny hollow Voyager when they can pay another $7 and get IMPROVED Masterpiece KOs instead? You can regularly get EC-01 UT Dino and WW01 MPM Bumblebee for $30 on an AliExpress sale.

I know this thread gets a lot crazier over the suggestion of 3P or KO than it used to
But you habe to admit that Hasbro is losing the plot and these are becoming more and viable and valid avenues to getting one's transforming robot fix
>>
>>11609221
oh totally.
I think the main reason we don't want to include them here is that it gets confusing. It's already confusing enough, because there's often 2 or 3 competing 3P versions of a given toy, maybe 10 or more of a given character, and for people who don't wanna spend tons of money or risk their payment info with chinese hackers, they'd just like a quick rundown of what the REAL toys are, the ones you could get in stores right now.
>>
>>11609234
In other words, it's about convenience and never about brand loyalty.
>>
>>11609234
>2 or 3 competing 3P versions of a given toy, maybe 10 or more of a given character
Hasbro has been doing the exact same thing with G1 since CW. Just ask /3pg/ and watch some videos to know which is the current best.
> risk their payment info with chinese hackers
Use ShowZ for 3P and Aliexpress for KOs, both are safe.

this anon is talking about hasbro pulse
>>
>>11609283
you don't need ratchets on most generations scale figures to be fair

only big leaders, commanders, and titans

for MP it's a different story

die cast only has one real use besides 'muh premium feel' and it's using it for tiny joints that might snap if they were made of plastic
>>

That's a thing? I just buy what appeals to me. Doesn't matter who's making it, just as long as the quality's good and the price is decent.

>>11609259
Because Hasbro loyalists are in a cult. You've seen the known Has-bros on this board. Overweight, leech off family, no art or social skills, they use their underwear as a catch rag. They only buy OFFICIARRY RICENSED even if it's trash, because they think the multi-billion dollar company will go under if they buy a KO or simply turn down a toy for being shit. They're often the smoothbrains that want slavish toon accuracy which is why colors suck & combiners don't combine anymore. They rarely have children as they are impotent & can't make women cum. Hasbro deserves them, frankly.

If Hasbro is really reliant on them as a customer base, next year will be rough when the orange jew cuts welfare. Walky & Jin might have to eat the digs Kristi Noem kills just to feed themselves.
>>
>>11609277
DESU I don't think the Dinoking is well designed. Both of the combined arms doesn't look like it belong together, both arms have drastically different elbow joint and bend differently as well.
Besides, it doesn't even look accurate to the character.

>>
>>11609314
The design suffer from these flaws because they prioritize each individual members as Dinobots first. What I meant by that is each members designed to transform the way Dinobots transform.
They are not approaching the design from making Dino force first.
>>
>>11609306
Added stability is a meme, a figure can easily be stable if the designers actually give a shit enough to consider weight distribution
All stuffing metal into the legs does is shackle them down, destroys hip joints, and makes any aerial poses or anything that requires the legs to be held up (without a stand) basically impossible

There's a reason why most chokogin owners just have them in extremely basic poses, they're too weighed down by flimsy bullshit in the name of "quality" to do much of anything else
>>
>>11609308
Don't call out most YTubers like that.
>>
>>11609155
>>11609159
I still have the original, but I'd be down for a modern take with actual articulation.
So long as they don't shatter during transformation.
>>
>>11609308
I just hate that all combiners now use fake thighs, see Devastator and Liokaiser.
Even when frame combiner is over, they will still be using fake thighs.
>>
>>11609334
Retain the same transformation engineering with added elbow, knee, and ankle joints will be sufficient
>>
>>11609338
Thighs are thighs, they're not fake.

BWII Galvatron is interesting to me because he feels like a late G1/Brave/Gridman design takara had around that they just reworked to try and fit BW.. Mainly changing the head and trying to give him some more curvy bits. H's effectively a classic Takara brick with the articulation largely being incidental due to transformation than intentional like most BW figures. The head feeling like an afterthought is another thing that makes me think that

I own both. 77 sounds fair for the commander, but might be a little high for the vintage.

The new one poses much more dynamically, but unfortunately has a very short sword, seasaur neck and the skysaurs wing membranes are rather ugly. The old one has gorilla arms, no thigh swivel, and needs the skysaur's claws untabbed to use the (actually quite nice) neck articulation.
>>
>>11609426
yeahhhh but the DESIGN is cool, just not the actual toy.
i'd love a remade version of him that doesn't have hollow shins, gauntlets that extend way behind the elbows, a brick of a body, etc.
I'd also like to see the modes reworked a bit because they just don't quite work as-is.

Doesn't look like those at all to me. He has the same vibes as RiD Megatron, something that tried to have BW aesthetics but going more into the mechanical direction with some super robot sensibilities. It builds from some past ideas but doesn't look like a repurposed mold at all if you're knowledgeable about Brave and Gridman, those have really different aesthetics.
>>
>>11609472
yeah but the paint shop only customized it.. you don't call a customized firstparty toy 3P do you?
>>
>>11609476
..well, you call it a first party toy with third party labels..
>>
>>11609476
But that shop also makes the upgrade kits. At what point does a bootlegger become "official" enough to deserve a P?
>>
>>11609482
Hmm. So if we're talking paint and decals, that is merely a custom
if we're talking upgrade kits.. those can be licensed OR 3P, but I think since you're buying them -as a product themselves- then they are just second party like any normal product.
If you combined two toys from different manufacturers together, you wouldn't start calling THAT 3P now would you.
>>
>>11609426
I own this guy, and as clunky and awkward as he is, I love him. I'd totally be down for a modern remake of him - something a little less stumpy and with the triple-changing gimmick reworked to be a bit more cohesive.
>>
>>11609487
A "party" simply refers to any individual company or entity you are dealing with. It took the combined work of five parties to make the final product and customizers are the ones that are getting the sale. If someone mass commissioned these customs, put them in fancy boxes and flipped them at TFCon I'd consider that 6th party.
>>
>>11609496
Idunno that seems arbitrary. When we talk of 3P we're talking unlicensed, under that definition, then yes, using a 3P add-on kit makes your toy third party. but anything you could legally sell without repercussion, like a painted version of the figure, or a licensed kit, can't count.
>>
>>11609499
You're overthinking it. Its just a manner of how many step removed your toy is from God's light.
If I decided to buy that TFCon custom then add some handpainted 3D print kits then resell it then that's 7th party.

One of my favorite transformers but he looks kind of weird on this photo.
Here i tried to draw him.
he feels like his legs are too skinny and long and i hope he will feel better in hand.
And his 3 cannon at the back makes him look weird too.

Despite Combiner Wars brawl had one of the most stupidest torsos ever i still liked him because he was some sort of a tiny castle/fortress-guy looking.

Hope this comparison makes sense lol

>Because Hasbro loyalists are in a cult
This, and Hasbro has spent the last 5+ years restructuring their business model to take advantage of those people. It's all about getting diehard fans with money to burn to buy multiples of a mold at inflated price points, as opposed to actually offering a wider range of high-quality toys to encourage consumer growth. The former is simply the more reliable path to increasing dividends for shareholders, so that's where we are.
>>
I know this upcoming MPG has gotten mixed reactions, but I really love the way it looks. Is this the first time a G1 Optimus has actually had dual wheels on his rear axles like a proper truck should?
>inb4 "BUT NONE OF THE REST OF IT LOOKS LIKE A PROPER TRUKK!"
That's the smartest move they could have made. This feels like a fantasy anime truck—the kind of thing you might see towing a Patlabor around on a flatbed, or in the background of Akira or Giant Robo. The Seige mold had the same kind of energy and I always liked it for that. The concept of making G1 Optimus into a realistic COE semi peaked with the G1/Diaclone toy itself—we have ML for that—and tooners have their pick between MP-44 or SS86. I'm glad we're going a new direction now.
>>
I know this would not be happening.
Armada protoforms: optimus, megatron, hotshot, redalert, starscream, and demolisher.

Im not sure how I feel about this. From Chug til now, everyone debates how “toon accurate” any given figure is. And none of them ever actually are. There has always been that “Chug” embellishment that makes everything sort of cohesive and now thats over. Many people already feel like they leaned in too hard on degreebling them. All the new shit is not going to look right with the past 20 years of figures. Sounds like its time to start rebuying the entire collection all over again.

And why this miserable, Sunbow-animated piece of trash over the G1 toys or comic? The cunt's movie flipped in '86. We gonna appeal to the TF:One crowd in 35 years now too? Fuck G1.

>Trying to push "Tooners are Animated fans" again
Nice try but no.
>>11610241
We did buy toys. Plenty of them in fact. But Hasbro realized that tooners are such brain-dead addicts that will eternally buy the next version of their favourite non-character from the G1 cartoon as long as they shave a little bit more soul and detail from the toys at a time, that they can keep them buying the same characters ad infinitum without ever having to do anything actually new.
Tooners are consoomer bugmen and Hasbro knows it. You're getting played for suckers, and ironically so is Hasbro- because once the toonerboomers start dying off (soon, hopefully) they'll have to either rapidly gain back good will from everyone else or otherwise die as their main source of income perishes from heart attacks from a lifetime diet of goyslop.

Haters is gonna hate.

But in all seriousness yeah he looks funny in his 2 robot mods but thats fine by me. Most of the Maximals turned out ugly as sin but I appreciate that they were trying to be more Beast on the Maximal side and more Machines on the vehicon side. Its nice to see Transformers designs that aren't too humanoid I think.

Blastcharge is a fun toy with a cool transformation and I think a solid alt and robot mode, albeit topheavy. I think it would be easy as hell to modernize this guy, but I'd miss the missiles and his "attack mode" alt mode gimmick. Also the gear that turns the turret is I think a very cool play feature.

Buyer beware about that vac metal for any old TF though.

>>
>>11611066
I get the vehicon aeshetic but Blastcharge always came together in a way that made him feel unfinished. Like his awkward misaligned hips leading to legs with no knees and fold out flat flaps for feet. The weedy stick arms. It's like they started from his rotating launcher and battering ram gimmicks and worked backwards how to make a toy from those.

>>11611066
To be honest, I always wanted this guy. My only issue with him is that his launcher cant fold down against his chest when not in use.
>>
>>11611121
I mean, he kinda has knees... but yeah, were I do give this guy an AOTP style update I would adjust a lot of things. Frankly I don't think it would be hard to do the following.

1. Put the arm assembly into the front of the APC, having the front 2 wheels act as shoulder pauldrons to make his arms loook beefier, and give them an elbow swivel
2.adjust that crazy hip gap
3. Shorten his feet/toes and extend the mostly useless heel spur
4 (optional) make his gun fold down and cover the chest rather than have it always pertrude.

As he is though, and I'm being honest here, I don't believe that he is really that far behind modern figures- design proportions aside. If its *real* coping hours then you could even approximate an ankle tilt using the way the wheels fold on the leg. Wouldn't be that much worse than 86 Devastator, and I say that as a fan.

Am I the only one that finds it really weird how Hasbro kept releasing the ER Wheeljack mold, and never added his gun? Even the newest release only included a gun from devastation, but they seemingly only used that mold for the new weapon and nothing else.
>>
>>11611169
wheeljack never had a gun, his original toy only had the shoulder cannons

he's always used either some generic pistol/welding tool thingy, which his shoulder cannon functions as.

He also uses a gun designed after Jazz's photon rifle in the cartoon I believe, which is also what was used in the devastation release (as one of the basic blasters was based off Jazz's gun..)

I would like to see his gun sword from combiner wars come back though.

(and for the record, the autobots stand united 5 pack wheeljack used legacy elita 1's gun, which I believe is on a separate accessory mold since a similar weapon was included with the red cog accessory pack)

I got my Missing Link Arcees. They really nailed the 1986 vibe, about the only thing that feels "modern" to me is how her arm panels have only the tiniest of tabs to hold the min place for car mode. I think a proper G1 toy wouldn't have done that and just relied on friction for those and then when your joints got loose years later oh well. Maybe her tiny heelspurs wouldn't have been there, but I think I've seen one or two toys of the era that actually did have heel spurs so I'll let them slide.

I think some of the BM designs need another chance. The toy designs were, I think, better than the show for the most part. I do wish Primal looked more like an Optimus and thag Megatron wasn't either a robed cuck or the dragon again. I can sort of understand Hasbros coldness to the era though. Bit I'd take a new BM toy over a literal half assed optimus 3 pack.
>>
>>11611393
Same, I really think the cyberpunky designs were quite cool, even if some of the show models were terrifying. Still love Blackarachnia's spider mode, that was real cool.
As usual, autists will continue to hate anything that isn't exactly like what they grew up with though.
>>
>>11611393
I would welcome a new toy of Primal. It was his best design, he was finally his own character and not just We Have G1 Optimus At Home.
>>
>>11611403
I respect the perspective but I wished his robot mode looked.more like the character we had grown attached to in BW. Regardless I'd go ape for a new BM Primal
>>
>>11611403
i liked how bulky the gorilla mode was, with such a big, heavy head and big forearms, but that's where the positives end and I mean to the extreme.
>>
>>11611398
Weird that Hasbro hasn't done a Beast Machines Megatron from the Leader TM2 Legacy mold. All they'd need to do is remold the head and the dragon wings.

I think a major problem of doing modern Beast Machines are the Maximals designs and how they 'transformed' in the show Sure Primal and Cheetor have been done, but they were relatively easy compared to the rest of the cast like Blackarachnia, Silverbolt, Nightscream and Botanica (Botanica is probably the worst, a plant robot that transforms into another plant robot. What were they thinking with that design?).
>>
>>11611414
Shit BM Megatron could even be done with an upgrade kit, easily, come to think of it. If they did it zi'd buy one. I think they could handle the fest of the transformations, we've been seeing some neat techniqhes and improved engineering lately. Plus, now no lomger need to include the gimmicks- though I find these days I am kind of missing them.
>>
>>11611414
>what were they thinking?
apparently of the Flatwoods Monster, which tells you where their heads were
>>11611418
Honestly were we even meant to see any changes from BW? I thought in-universe he was the same, like when everybody in Batman changed design.
>>
>>11611418
I think that they could do complete reimaginings of the BM guys, where the beast modes look like decent stylized beasts, and the robot modes at least slightly resemble the show
but A) why would you want that, since the show was hideous, and B) they'd have to be significantly more expensive than anyone else in their size class due to all the tiny pieces and panels and shit.
>>
>>11611447
Beast Wars was hideous but you never hear this sort of tired old meme complaint about that.

Weirdly, despite being partially Transmetal, Silverbolt got paralyzed...but I'm assuming that was a continuity error, given BM was made by a whole different team from BW and they likely weren't paying attention to the fact that Fuzors exhibited Transmetal qualities.

That was never a thing. The fuzors aren't affected by energon radiation because after the Planet Buster exploded most of the raw Energon on Earth was destroyed and the rest stabilized, with only some unstable Energon remaining. Anything else pointing at the Fuzors being transmetals are just inconsistencies.

Her show model was hideous, but I actually liked Blackarachnia's BM toy - particularly with Crystal Widow's color scheme. She has a simple yet effective transformation, and you can give her a cool Drider mode by leaving her legs split.
I was also a fan of a lot of the non-show Maximal designs - I've mentioned before, but Buzz Saw. Battle unicorn, Gekkobot, and Night Viper are all awesome designs. So is BM Snarl, though his Universe colors look better on him than his original ones.

Yeah I think the toy designs were mostly better, especially with the Vehicons whom I'm admittedly more fond of. I like my alt modes and robot modes being distinct, and I never enjoyed show Tankor's head being his turret or Thrust's head being the same in both modes. Thus Mega Tankor being superior.

Also a funny note I found on the tfwiki when looking up BM Toys:

"For a long time, it had been sequential, so there was Beast Wars, and then Beast Machines came along—that wasn't performing as well, it was a little more... odd vehicle forms, or even beast forms. Beast Wars was great, you could tell what things were, even when they were hybrid or Fuzors, you could kind of tell what they were. If you look at Beast Machines, it's kind of like 'a truck thing' or 'a flying thing' or- so that alienated a certain amount of audience, so sales were going down. It got a little dark in the storyline at that same time. They were developing Transtech, but that was very short-lived. [...] That would have been the successor but because it was going down this dark road of Beast Machines and that wasn't working, obviously the sequel to that wasn't going to happen."

Boy, its a good thing we don't have to deal with our transformers turning into 'truck things' or 'flying things' anymore!

How are those two things even remotely similar? One likes animal people, the other wants to hack their own dick off and make everyone around them play along with their delusions.

I snagged Blokees Arcee at Hobbycraft yesterday. She's pretty cool for a kit that costs less than a deluxe! The light up feature works pretty nicely, she's very simple to build and looks great straight out the box with basic cleanup. Even the metallic red plastic looks really nice for what it is.
My only real issues are:
>I kinda wish she had more than just a swivel at the torso
>The balljoints like to pop apart easily
>The elbow range sucks, though that will be very easy to improve
Planning on painting her in G1 colours, which should be simple as colour breakup on the kit is great. Gonna try out these Gaahleri Kaleido paints I got in recently for the pink and white, if they're anything like their varnish they should be great. Torn between using the aluminium from the same range over the dark metal or using Alclad aluminium instead; the latter will probably look better I'd imagine?

Sadly not, just a robot mode. Licensed third parties aren't generally allowed to make transforming figures of Transformers characters unless they turn into a novelty item (like the Sentinel Optimus Prime pen). IIRC Blokees even got their Devastator frame cockblocked in the US for fear it'd undercut SS Devastator despite only "transforming" in the loosest sense. I will say it's well worth the price of admission though; I paid £18 for mine.

At least people are talking about Beast Machines. Can't say the same for Energon/Superlink that barely gets mentioned or have anything worthwhile to discuss.
>>
>>11611536
I didn't want to watch this crap when it was new, I certainly don't care for it now.
>>
>>11611635
Superlink IIRC is a mediocre anime with some cool concepts and ideas that mostly suffered from having a writer who specialized in shorter series being forced to work out of his comfort zone, along with being an early CGI-heavy anime and as a result looking a bit shit (though the 2D animated parts were godly). The dub (Energon) is an absolute trainwreck, I can only assume due to being rushed to hell and back like Armada was.
I will say I do find it semi-amusing that the wiki writes a whole damn screed on how terrible Energon was (primarily focusing on Energon itself rather than the original Superlink version) yet glosses over the many, many, many failings of IDW 2.0 or other similarly dreadful/panned series that they happen to like.

The real question is why Optimus, who is not even his original body, somehow became his original model again except colored wrong. Buuuut the thing about transmetalization is.. you apparently keep your altmode or at least get a mutated version of it (t-rex to dragon, cheetah to smilodon), so it's logical that the reverse process would also be true. Despite never once having any fur on him in this body, Optimus still has gorilla DNA scan data in him.

You can literally see the pivot point on his Beast Mode head in that pic. The whole back plate rotates from around his pelvis area, then he stands up.

His cannon, in particular, looks awesome - I didn't realize it was all glittery until I saw it in person. Also, this guy's shoulders are properly assembled, unlike my Kingdom one.
I'm planning on getting him a new head and hands at some point, but for now, he'll do just fine as my even-crazier-than-the-original Galvy.

I do agree that BM is a bit overheated, it's only the worst transformers show in a lot of people's minds because of the fact it's coming off of the literal best transformers show. I am a g1 fan. I love vehicles more than beasts. I like the toys better and I like most of the vehicle characters better, and my first exposure to the franchise was Prime. but even I have to concede and say that Beast Wars had the best writing out of any of the shows in the franchise. It's like an 8/10 overall but I do believe code of hero, after all the buildup in the previous episodes, deserves it's spot as the best episode in transformers history. I cried a little bit. And I wish they would reissue kingdom dinobot.

>"this is waning in popularity, we have to go a new direction, just as beast wars itself was a new direction"

Its worse than that

>One odd brief was that both Mainframe boss Dan DiDio and Hasbro didn't want Skir and Isenberg to watch old episodes, as they wanted a fresh take and DiDio felt Beast Wars was too continuity heavy. (He'd even told Wolfman that Beast Wars had no ties to the original series and to do as he pleased with Generation 1 continuity when doing his outline.) Again: Beast Machines was a sequel to a sequel. As it turned out, Beast Machines ended up being more continuity heavy and one reason was because Hasbro told them about things like Vector Sigma and the Hate Plague and encouraged them to be used.

we do need to understand that back in the day, TV was this big expensive investment that you hoped would pay off in syndication
it feels stupid because like, we think of every program as being from A NETWORK and it's going to run on their channel, why would anyone else pay to air it (Like, disney owned ABC, right? It's not as if individual ABC station operators were paying Disney a fee to air syndicated Disney shows.. they already worked for Disney).. but it did happen, and they made a ton of cash that way. plus we got fun stuff like Futurama on Adult Swim.
but syndication packages were easier to sell as "anyone can watch any episode in any order, so don' worrrry about it" like selling a car with an automatic transmission.

Nobody's brought up the interview Evan gave a few days ago, there are some interesting tidbits
>The Timelines 2-pack figures are 1 mold each, so Optimus can't be retooled/released without Starscream or Megatron without Bumblebee and vice-versa.
>Bruticus has the same faux CW connectors on his legs as Superion and Menasor.
>The second head on the Brawl mold is not a toy style head. So an unrelated character is planned and Armorhide will likely just be a redeco.
>Vortex will be reissued in 2026 so all of Bruticus is available at once. They pushed him out out early due to a gap in 2025's schedule and they always planned on reusing Superion's arm connectors. The leg bots took more work so they're coming later.
>They're considering doing the giant squid that attacked Kup in SS86. Apparently, that's why Alt Mode Shockwave isn't a squid.
>Shockwhale will most likely be Pulse exclusive.
>SS86 Soundwave has tabs for the birds to perch on his arm, and the tape deck was made slightly larger so the Siege cassettes can actually fit.
>Core Dinobot exists, but they have no idea if it'll ever come out.
>Likewise, they're not sure where to release the cancelled Velocitron toy Hot Rod. Next year's exclusive Hot Rod took precedent.
>They want to do more pretenders in the style of Micronus.
>They want to do the Throttlebots after finishing the Minibots. SS86 Bumblebee has several heads tooled already.
>Alpha Bravo is more or less confirmed to be happening.
>Seems like Defensor is not the combiner for 2027, they haven't started on him yet.
>SS86 Coneheads are planned if wasn't obvious, the new seeker mold was made to allow for them. Evan practically admits the ER conehead reissues were cashgrabs.

Hello everyone, to give some context: This is the first time I'm posting here, and I'm not exactly a Transformers fan. I watched some of the bayverse movies when I was young but that's about it. I wanted to share a dream I had that I think you all would enjoy (in greentext form)

>Be me
>Be at home in the living room
>Uncle suddenly shows up, holding a knife
>Apparently wants to kill me with it
>Run around for a bit before deciding to hide in the bathroom
>Ohthankfuck.jpg
>Turn around
>My uncle is there
>Realize that my uncle (in the dream) is actually Optimus Prime
>'Auto bots, let's roll out' he says
>Proceeds to stab me to death
(It's now an inside joke of my friend group that Optimus has a human nephew that he compulsively wants to stab, like he's on some sort of important mission he has to accomplish)
>>

outside of groove (who will most likely be a hard challenge) the protectobots are incredibly easy

hot spot will likely share engineering with onslaught (new mold though)

blades will do similar things to vortex with different kibble management

streetwise will share engineering with a stunticon (retooled possibly)

first aid will be incredibly easy since an ambulance is just a box and most combiner lower legs are boxes

again, most of that budget will go into figuring out groove.

The comedy was perfectly fine, satan. The problem was that they tried to do long arcs with these characters when they were depicted as completely shallow.
I don't care about the 5th episode of Blackarachnia going "waahh, you just don't get it... I'm a BAD girl..." And Silverbolt going "but you're MY bad girl.." because it plays out the same way each time.
When they reappear in BM, they're treated more like normal members of the team and actually have other things to do and say.
>>
>>11612776
>When they reappear in BM, they're treated more like normal members of the team and actually have other things to do and say.
blackarachnia was tolerable in BM, silverbolt is an aberration
>>
>>11612807
I liked the characters, cheese and all, in BW though Cheetors newfound angst ahen he went TM2 was annoying. It just felt super forced to make some kind kf cheetor/silverbolt/blackarachnia jealousy thing happen. I'm enjoying my BM rewatch thus far alsp, but the team infighting is a bit too frequent.
>>
Why are people so weird about fembots having feminine body shapes? By people I mean twitter and reddit and the faggots on youtube like drlockdown.
>>
>>11612776
oh I super disagree, the long arcs were good
i'm talking about 'haha waspinator got shredded into ribbons' or 'inferno's head shot up like a rockem sockem robot!' which they didn't even DO right. they didn't model in the ratcheted little piece that would make you go 'eyy i had one of those' they just elongated his neck polygons.

i do agree that BM and Silverbolt (and uhh Cheetor)'s personalities are better than BW. Sort of. I like Optimus going full Avery Brooks until Cheetor pulls him back like 'no dude, we need you to be the Sisko'
>>
>>11612599
No no no no noooooo
>>
>>11612834
I don't have any problem with goonerbait fembot designs but I do dislike backpack engineering. I don't think it's lazy (having all the kibble fold up is impressive) but it is boring

give fembots curvy and thick body types as well as curvy vehicle modes and there will be no backpack problems
>>
>>11612821
ok the jealousy thing was indeed a little forced, but I liked angsty rough teen Cheetor, I identified with that. He's like, i'm fuckin badass now, i'm no longer the dork with stupid lobster claw hands encased inside half cat heads. Considering that this was done to me against my will, maybe give me a little improved treatment for it.
really, Dinobot should have sorted him out, but alas.. he died to an hero.
God damn I need to see that interaction now. if Dinobot had just lived a little longer before his heroic sacrifice.. if he'd gotten to face his clone (again) and mentored Cheetor in how to be a proper snarling, toothy badass while still having CLASS. and then obviously still died because that just must happen.
>>
>>11612837
yeah dammit
look it's easy, take a thick piece of the altmode, i don't care what part, fenders and trunk area, nacelles, whatever.. if it's kinda thick. make that the thigh. now it doesn't have to be round!! though, once it's separated from the vehicle mode and swung out, the inside can be round
then have the spindly shin and dainty foot fold out from that. Have her arms form a smaller, flatter form of the altmode, folding up like tigatron's tummy, and then have whatever else on her altmode form her chest and a REASONABLY-SIZED backpack.
I could show this for any altmode you could ask, I bet.

The CW torsos should've been leaders with the hands/feet included with them. With the higher pricepoint for the torsos and extra budget from not having to include the HFGs with the deluxes they could've smoothed out some of the jankyness in the stability/articulation. Then maybe we wouldn't be stuck with this fauxbiner meme.

Ok look I started this recent bout of Beast Machines Mania but seriously what the FUCK were they thinking with Botanica?

The BW Mutants were one thing, and Noble Savage too, having 2 beast modes was interesting... but Botanica just has 2 bot modes??? Theres no way they thought anybody could engineer a toy for that right? I'd love to see somebody try though.
>>
>>11612947
I don't know what anyone was thinking there when I read into it

>>
>>11612950
A plant transformer could work, do like vine legs and arms and a like fly-trap type plant, then it turns into a robot. The BW or even BM aesthetic could have worked for that. But they just went and made 2 robot modes for some reason.

I think they were taking "The Cartoon Animal Chain of Command goes Mouse - Cat - Dog" and expanding it to "we did beasts, we went back to doing machines, we did BEAST machines, and now what..." "... plants?"
"BRILLIANT, have it on my desk by tomorrow"
but you can't have a plant mode, that's retarded. so they made her an ALIEN plant that can move, and talk, and has a face, which defeats 90% of the purpose of what a plant is and does and looks like.
But okay, so it's an alien plant. what does she turn into? a ... flatwoods-monster (alien) inspired robot mode. Well, nicely done guys
>"b-but cheetor has a kitty mouth and stuff in robot mode, it's.. that's how it works, right?"
They should have gone full Triffid with her
>>

punch/counterpunch was around in 1987, it's not unheard of. Botanica just.. had no reason to have two bot modes.

give it octopus-tentacle-like roots that it walks around on, a sinuous shaft to remind us it's a girl, and a variety of upward-drifting branches, a few of which have biting mouths

then if it had to transform, the two thickest branches (and a few as accessories) would become the legs, the two thickest roots would become arms (with some as pauldrons), and .. it's Beast Machines, so nobody would care if the body was still a fucking stick.

I noticed there certain gen x parents that would groom their kids into watching G1. These parents will be so proud to see their children being forced to like the cartoons that are not being made in their generation.

Childrens don't care about Transformers, if you see one in a convention, it's most likely the parent that groomed their children to like what they like.

The medical condition is known as "sōshūha" or "Peter Pan syndrome." It describes adults who exhibit a reluctance to grow up and often wish to hold onto their childhood, sometimes projecting this desire onto their children. These individuals may want their children to enjoy the same cartoons, toys, or experiences they cherished in their youth.

This is not a formally recognized psychiatric disorder but rather a colloquial term used to describe specific behaviors and attitudes related to adult responsibilities and childhood nostalgia.
>>

Imagine yourself as a child who misses out on the Jurassic Park craze at school, watching friends excitedly discuss the latest dinosaurs and movie scenes. Instead of sharing in that excitement, your parent hijacked your childhood, you feel isolated, as your parent prioritizes a different experience, often focusing solely on their own nostalgia. You finds yourself living in a bubble with their dad, missing the chance to connect with peers and engage in the current pop culture surrounding you.

I dunno if Mavs lurks here still (I hope so, your kits are great) but I bought a bunch of KO CW Aerialbots (3 Skydives and 3 Airraids) from Aliexpress for customs fodder. Got some of his kits and a bunch of SteamShield's CW to Seeker kits ready to print.
I'm still pondering names and colour schemes for them. Also, with Mavs' bicep replacement for Skydive (swapped on the left, vanilla on the right) do you think the body shape could pass the "Gali threshold" as a fembot?

Nope. I love the toys as a kid, never saw any of the relayed media at all until I was an adult. Having cool robots that turned into cool animals or vehicles was all I needed to enjoy them, along with the vague character descriptions in their box bios. Then again, I grew up in a time where kids still had a sense of imagination and creativity; modern kids need to be told how to have fun by YouTubers and the such, so I can see how a youngin' like you would be baffled by this.

The only reason it was so expensive is because there was a coordinated effort to corner the market on this figure. First time Ive ever heard of this happening in the toy world. Anyway, its price has been coming back down recently. Seems like the Haslab maybe made the floor drop down on this.

Devastator and Superion both have faux ab crunches but its only for display. For both of them using it disengages parts of their back and makes them completely unstable. So close. they didn't need tie-in media, there were just actual movies and tv shows about soldiers and cowboys and whatever kinda toys they bought. I assume it'll be a copy of the old toy's engineering.. so yeah, not great.
>>
>>11613711
>>11613713
It's most likely going to have the same exact engineering as the vertebreak/dracodon mold. And I want to see it because I want a pocket sized dinobot to take everywhere. There is kind of a minor problem with the mold though, the tail is probably way too small to fit both a cyber slash tail blade gimmick and the standard rotating sword.

however

the mold uses 5mm connections for its hands and tail, unlike other core classes. Which means.. if they sacrificed the look of the back for one more 5mm port they might be able to squeeze it into cyberworld's toyline. I know its a kiddie show but seeing cyberworld sky byte and cyberworld dinobot fight and quip at each other would be kinda funny.

I don’t count Star Convoy as one. I hope for a Zeta or Sentinel or some sort of filler piece because I can accept anything but what Hastak is doing here.
I’m currently feeling misery about buying Alpha Trion (which I wouldn’t feel if I didn’t know of the existence of the two-pack). At least Vector had a bit of nostalgia going on for him as I owned his original toy but A3 doesn’t have that, especially when it’s not the old-man design I’m accustomed to.
I got Micronus in today and he’s nifty enough. Looking forward to Quintus and I’m so excited for Amalgous that I might get two so that one is a permanent desktoy while the other hangs with the group.
Feeling I should at least spice up my Prima because it’s too blank looking. If he’s going to be the centerpiece then I have to do something that blings him out.
And I really like Alchemist, probably my favorite of the deluxes. Odd opinion apparently.
The leaders are great. Nothing else to say on that.
Really most of the characters are entirely new to me, but there’s a sense of nostalgia I’m feeling because of it. Reminds me of my childhood and how I would go to a store and see new robots to fawn over and collect. TFOne is a great movie but oh man I’m aware of how much it sinked me in. The “sell toys” aspect that pervades every transformers media got me this time and generally I try to stay cognizant of my purchasing decisions, but there’s such a frenzy with these 13 that I almost don’t want that feeling to end. Psychologically I’m aware of this fault but I’ll deal with that at the eventual end of the road.
>>
>>11613760
So I'm not a super big primes lore guy, so don't know much about them, but I've got all of the currently released AoTP ones (waiting to see how the Vector redo is) and I really like most of them with the top 3 being Megatronus, Star Convoy, and to my surprise Onyx prime.

Overall I have very few issues with any of them with a couple of exceptions.

1. Solus Prime is a fiddly mess of a little toy that should have been a voyager. Not fun to fiddle with or transform, but looks nice at least.
2. Alchemist Prime isn't bad, its a fun toy and a very solid bot and alt mode- *but* his accessory sucks. I feel like whether its being "arm guns", "swords" or "lenses" its only ever *kind of* that.
3. My Micronus Prime's inner bot came with one leg entirely unlainted.

Excited for the remainder though, I'm really looking forward to Amalgamous and Liege Maximo.
>>
>>11613773

>>11613779

not at all, obviously I meant you'd eyeball it, and if it LOOKED okay, you'd accept it

Because of sexists who think that fembots shouldn't even exist because "robots don't have gender" and because of trans and "woke" people who think that looking feminine as a female is unrealistic. People talk about wanting more variety in body types and I agree, but notice how Soundwave, Optimus, Tarn etc. are very masculine looking but virtually no one has a problem with that.
