>still no new castle line
Literally what the fuck will it take them to understand this shit is free money? This has proven true for over a decade now, why can't they get it?
>>
>>11762879
lego has gone all in on the licenceshit and afol market
a true castle theme would appeal to kids, but since kids don't have the money to pay the rape prices they don't want to bother
that's why they'll throw the occasional bone in the cmf waves and rape the afols with expensive gwp's or $250+ sets in icons
pirates is much the same, but at least barracuda bay was partially a love letter instead of straight extortion
>>
>>11762879
>>11762880
At this point in time, they know they can just push off the heavy weight onto the BLD program, since it feels like the overwhelming number of submissions are just castle stuff anyway, and they know it is popular enough that at least one castle-esque set will make it into every series.
>>
>>11762880
Is it so hard to ask space too that is not nasa punk. There has only been a singular visually interesting version of nasa punk being the leagues of Votann from Warhammer 40k. Only reason they get the pass is dwarves give it all a unique utilitarian flare. 2024 space sucked because its utilitarian style was boring

this would be epic win for both Lego and the now-grown-up kids

re-makes of classic sets but done in modern $X00 style. they would be display pieces but that's what that target demographic would want anyway
>>
>>11762929
While a modern Rock Raiders re-make set would be cool idk how I'd feel about it without the old grays
>>
>>11762931
Old grays and old brown would change the feel too much. Why shit like the M-Tron and Ice Planet CMFs don't appeal to me, the colors are too integral to the aesthetic of the line to accept even the best alternatives.
>>
>>11762933
We've lost so many good colors meanwhile they introduce new colors that are exclusive to shit like minifigure hair pieces
>>
>>11762901
space is in a bad place too since i am certain disney laid the hammer down on no house space themes in 2013 due to them owning star wars, but at the very least the last few years had the galaxy explorer, renegade redux, and the invader gwp (which was bullshit but this is how things are)
i do wonder if there are some people in the company who want to retvrn to tradition but are prevented from doing so by upper management and the ongoing licence deals
>>
>>11762933
did they ever explain why they got rid of the neon colours? or was it just them being no fun allowed anymore?
>>
>>11762879
Lego's DEI consultancy group wouldn't allow that to happen
>>
>>11762959
Not that I know but I would imagine tbey began to see them as too specialized compared to the standard trans green and orange we see nowadays. I honestly can't understand their logic when it comes to their palette, ochre yellow was just introduced but stated to be exclusive to animal and hair molds so it really just seems like they do a whatever they feel like with any given color.
>>
>>11762901
I like cityspace tbqh, it's nice to have a civilian space theme again after all this time
>>
>>11762971
I imagine with them not really even doing space anymore, they probably just don't see a reason to even make the pieces anymore. When was the last time a theme even regularly used them? Its probably been over 25 years since they retired the trans neon colors.
>>
>>11762974
Nexo Knights used trans neon orange extensively, both it and trans neon green were fairly relevant colors in Star Wars up until about the early 2010s too.
>>
>>11762975
Oh, yeah, I don't know why Nexo Knights slipped my mind. Definitely a lot more recent than I was thinking. Regardless, I want more cool space stuff as well...
>>
>>11762974
neon orange was 2022 and neon green was 2023
i can only assume it was for spiteful reasons, since if anyone in set design had an ounce of imagination they would've been able to find a place for them

Repost from last thread because I'm curious what you guys think: Is the DC theme cooked, bros? Look, I get that both Marvel and DC fall under the superhero theme and share the same budget, but come on, why can’t DC get some good sets?

This year, for the Batman theme anniversary, we got four Batman sets, three Batmobiles, and a Bat logo. They introduced the whole Epic Moments series for Marvel with some really cool, affordable display sets, so why not do something like that for DC? Maybe a Superman movie set with a base showing Superman fighting the Hammer of Boravia in armor, or one for a Supergirl movie with Lobo on his bike on a base and Supergirl and Krypto flying in to attack him.

In 2027, Marvel Studios is only releasing one feature film, Avengers Secret Wars, in December. That probably means five or six Secret Wars sets will drop around October 2027. But what will the Super Heroes theme release in the meantime? I guess we might get four Doomsday spoiler sets in 2027 and maybe some Spider Man comic stuff, but what else?

I doubt Across the Spider Verse from Sony will get more than one or two sets at most, so that leaves some open slots. Will they do more DC stuff? Will they make sets for Superman: Man of Tomorrow? Will they do The Batman Part II sets? Those are going to be huge movie events, probably bigger than Spider Verse.

The James Gunn led DCU is starting to build momentum, so I think after the success of Superman, LEGO should release a lot more solid DC sets in 2027. They moved quickly after the success of K-Pop Demon Hunters to release something, so why not do the same for DC?

Sorry for the rant, but it’s frustrating how LEGO handles DC, even when we finally start getting good stuff. The new LEGO Batman video-game already got me hyped for the idea of Absolute Batman sets.

Anyone else feel the same?

Lego freaking loves Batman. any excuse to do more Batman, they'll do. for the Lego Batman movie, they pretty much went through the entire history of the comics and made characters for every villain they could find. Condiment King? yup.

as much as we imagine Lego probably has good sales data on DC vs Marvel, top sellers, (Spider-Man, Batman... make more of those!) it's probably still just a bunch of guys in a meeting room pitching "what they like" or guessing what might be popular

>>11763063
Any time Lego has tried doing non Batman centric DC sets they've always bombed, the only way other DC characters can get shit now is if they are lucky enough to be material in the "Batman and friends" theme that Lego has made DC become. For the Lego Batman movie I think all the deep cuts and such were made purely because the filmmakers wanted the film to be a love letter to Batman as a whole. Batman is just a much bigger name then any DC character, even Superman, at this point and it's not like DC has done anything worthwhile to change that. It's like Star Wars though where even with a series with as rich of a history as Batman you can only do so many Batmobiles and Bat Caves so who knows when, if ever, they'll have to branch out.

I think Zack Snyder's DCEU killed the DC brand, the Justice League movie sets were the worst selling movie tie in sets ever, worse than The Lone Ranger. From that point and the continuing bad products from DC and focus on R rated stuff ruined the brand, atleast GUNN DCU has kid friendly movies

This is a thing that I don't know how much comes from consultants or executives, but there's a short sightedness that prevents them from simpler concept stuff, they feel the need to reinvent the wheel. Plus they seem to have a lack of confidence on Lego's own IP or general ideas. They are only confident of what the mainstream calls mainstream or nostalgic enough to sell.

I think DC’s problem is few popular DC heroes would believably use vehicles and Lego fucking loves vehicles
kids don’t want Superman in a car because Superman doesn’t need a car

meanwhile most Marvel heroes are at a low enough power level that you can throw them in a motorcycle or whatever and it makes sense

I guess it must if they're willing to sell it for so much, like the previous Iron Man. I think it looks pretty awful, but mostly because it's based on a person. Arishem made it work somewhat, and Mata Nui (from that very likely fake April 1 rumor) would probably look decent.

From the leak it said Toa Mata not Mata Nui, he just used a pic of Mata Nui for reference because its a big figure. If that leak is real then its a 100% gonna be a buildable Tahu figure ( with maybe a non cosplay Tahu minifig because they have the head mold). Tahu is unironically more iconic than Mata Nui. I just hope Squidward gets his own head mold. I could go without tentacles but that printed head was like fan creation tier.

that guy legit tried to rob the C-3PO

but... it's also kinda the kid's fault for walking away and trusting the guy wouldn't steal it. he basically put some crack in front of an addict and asked "I found some medicine you know if it's worth anything?" and turned his back.

still, full shame on the real criminal. the Brick & Minifigs corporate owners that franchise those stores should have fired that guy for attempted robbery and apologized massively for hiring a criminal. imagine if another retail store pulled that move?

They don‘t exist afaik?

Blue Ocean makes SW, Ninjago and Marvel (death be upon him).

These magazines are the last gift of the NSDAP unto us. The germanic autism that resides in all white and christian lego enthusiasts had manifested this minifigure bearing magazine into existence in the place that observes this mental augmentation in it‘s highest concentration .

It grants us minifigures that are either locked within shitty expensive sets or are hard to amass for six Euromonkey dollars.

Examples: Lloyd and Jay in their dragon form and the 212th clone trooper.

I’m surprised they haven’t made it a whole line, what with the Netflix series and live action One Piece line.
Then again it’d probably be based on the Netflix series and nobody wants that.

They could have made something for the animated movie with all the old cast grown up that is coming out/got leaked

Have you ever swallowed a lego piece? I did(twice) as a kid

also didn't help that the avatar sets looked like shit, while spongebob clearly had more effort put into it
>>
>>11763420
No, but when I was in the ER they put me in the child ward and I overheard the parents in the bed next to me worried about their kid that had eaten a minifig and the doctor explained that it would just get pooped out and making him vomit it up would be worse for the body

There’s the animated movie, the Korra sequel series, and the fighting game coming out soon, really it’d be the perfect time for a blitz of Avatar sets.
Doesn’t have to be TLA-specific either, Korra has a lot of cool things to base sets on. The pro bending arena, the Tree of Time, Kuvira’s mech, etc.

>Explorien chads are LAUGHING at you.

The difference between that city space stuff and Exploriens is night and day, though. It isn't just about the primarily white color. Exploriens actually had cool, bizarre set designs on par with all the sci-fi stuff that came before it. It didn't have sets that were "Semi-realistic shuttle" and "Semi realistic habitat" and "semi realistic space station."

I really liked it too. Something about the unified design language of both the ships and the space suits. Even the Power Miners angle of the purple crystals being made into batteries. I actually bricklink'd that command ship. Just didn't want the pod and the base, only the ship. Even took inspiration from a suggestion I saw here. Got the Stormtrooper mech and swapped some parts to make it a City Space security mech.

Any idea how much a vintage blue space suit minifig could go for? I found this today. The chin strap is still intact and almost no wear at all on the space logo. I know my brother has all the other older Lego stuff and it will be easy getting the air tank and proper vintage head.

Probably like $12-15 if the gold print is still that crisp and there's no cracks. Even vintage generics can go for like $7+ nowadays. It's crazy. As far as classic space goes it's the black suit that is actually by far the rarest, mint ones can go for like $40 to $50. Shit sucks, generics are so much more expensive then they should be.

>I don't like the white ipod sets!
>well THOSE white sets are fine, obviously...
I like both. I think all cityspace really lacks is colorful canopies and windows, and I wish that was easier to rectify but it doesn't ruin them for me.

Hey! It's both of ours. We pretty much co-owned all our Lego as kids. He has it all now because he actually enjoys building with the big grey blocks to make big, blocky robots. But if he asks, I will give the minifig parts to him.

>>11763607
Thanks. I really wasn't sure. If it was $50 or more I might have tried to sell it myself somewhere. But at that price, I probably will just take it to Bricks & Minifigs and see what they offer. I just thought with how much nostalgiafags were gushing over every rerelease that an intact vintage fig might go for a pretty high price.
>>
>>11763655
Are you being intentionally obtuse, or do you really just not understand my point?

My point isn't just the color, its that there really isn't anything outstanding about the city space stuff. I don't even think there is necessarily anything wrong with standard or more "realistic" modern space shuttles and stuff, but design wise, there just isn't anything that is being pushed creatively. Past space themes had far more interesting stuff going on with vehicle and base designs. About the only thing modern city space has kept is some modularity to the builds.

The new The Batman™ Batmobile™ barely fits on the old set. Both the old set and the new set have their pros and cons. Kinda weak that the new one doesn't come with blue fire pieces (or a villain).

Do they do cars from teams people actually care about?
>>
>>11763785
Alpine is shilled through all means posible in the same way Fifa is promoting every other player you saw made into a set (the astroturfing may be felt stronger in whoever isn't Messi or Ronaldo as they are looking for newer talent). This is just one of the machine's tentacles, another is F1 the Movie which may be the reason we got those blindbag cars. I wonder how much they invest, given that Lego actually manages to get those sets on time to cross-promote with said movie or the world cup instead of doing it years after its prime like Overwatch, Fortnite, or K-pop Demon Hunters.
