Did you pre-order any of the newest slop today?Previous:>>11768635
>>11772303the issue is that most preds' "organic parts" didn't look very organic, and depth charge didn't seem to have any at all. Some of it is probably just the show modelers, some of it is the fact that reptile and arthropod skin already looks kinda robotic (something that has always helped Preds look cool in the past), but..I'd love to see alternate TM1 versions of characters who never got theirs, or who got one in toys only, which were awkward at best.
>>11772317Preordered all three. I'm a The Moviefag, so anything related to that is a must buy. (Except Astrotrain).
>>11772317No
>>11772317That stupid tab hanging off his chestYes i know what it's for.
>>11772322There was concept art for Dinobot. Before he became a shitty mcdonalds toy. Also it was weird but made sense how only show characters became transmetals. Even ones that werent used. But then for Transmetal 2 they went back on it and have original characters, toy only characters and show characters for some reason.
>>11772322I think his chest was supposed to be that because his mecha chrome eyes that become his legs fold out to reveal a manta ray chest in normal colors. But idk
I found this too
>>11772330I'm so fucking mad we don't have him or Rampage yet.
>>11772330Yeah, his chest and waist are organic, it's more obvious on the toy.
>>11772332much as I don't love hollow body-piece-halves forming kibble, even decorative kibble, this.. is a very interesting and likeable design. Wonder how it could have actually transformed.>>11772328yeah that was odd as a fuck.>>11772330oh so he's like TM1 megatron. see I missed that entirely. if I'd had the toy of either of them, I probably would have grokked it.
Why does Blitzwing have those ridiculous giant mitts again? Until now I assumed it was a G1 toy nod, but it doesn't have them. What in the hell
>>11772340
>pre orderNoI might get the retool shockwave and cyclonusCan't say I am excited about them though.I was thinking about this when they were releasing 86 prime- like where else they can go after this when sisge/legacy molds are pretty much spot on for the mainline G1 characters. Besides some minors hiccups, there isn't much to improve anymore. And if they try to re-invent the wheels again so to speak, they probably have another Astrotrain on their hands. So are we just going into the next 10 years with constant reissues of the siege/legacy mold for the S1~3s G1 guys?So- I guess this is pretty much it for G1 collector I think
>>11772354plausible! Basically like his original toy
>>11772351Vestigial combiner parts for some Legacy Evolution evo-fusion thing that never happened.
>>11772317pre-ordered all 3 of the new guys. cliff, shockwave, and blitzwing. >>11772317Are they rebooting this or something? >>11772351He used them in the show, anon, dont you remember?also they work for Devastator which is fun
>>11772367
>>11772367>also they work for Devastator which is funThis is what I plan on using the hulk hands for. Devastator will look cool with all those finger guns, though I guess he doesn't really need them since he already has laser eyes.
>>11772387Yeah I bet you think MechaGodzilla is excessive too
>>11771952>Watch Shockwave go fucking bonkers trying to keep things under control. You don't need Dinobots to do that
I am Wreck-Gar! I am some new kind of Autobot?!
>>11772411It's so sad to see
>>11772404Those bitches!
"Hmm today anon made a new General Thread SLIGHTLY sooner than the usual scheduled routine. This sudden untimely change seems to have disrupted some local's mental schedules and OCD. This was met with proclamations about their Sexuality and wishful desires for Pain and Torment upon them"
>>11772413Yeah...I don't totally hate him, but he's so low effort. Like, would taking the spikes off the shoulders and grill really have been asking too much?
Did the generations selects cyclonus have any yellowing issues of the original release?Been waiting on one from amazon to go down in price but clearly it's not happening, but with the new one on the horizon it's about time I decide to bite the bullet, I really just like the stock deco before stickers desu
>>11772420The very first person who got one had discoloration on the hinges next to the cockpit, but that seemed to be an isolated case.
>>11772423What the fuck, reminds me of a case I read about the recent 86 thundercracker, but cheers
>Earth Key is unpainted Black/Grey>Color Detailed Velocitron Key is in the Earth Key color>Decepticon Key is Clear Purple>Vector's Universal Key is translucent Blue>Only fucking Key actually proper is the Decepticon styled Planet-X Key Sideways hadI don't have original version of the Legacy Cybertron Hot Shot but apparently he has a solid Red Key that's the Velocitron oneSo the only actual full painted Key still is Sideways and Excellions Key and only one is correct
>>11772416Got around to getting Alpha there the other day only for the left foot to be defective. The heel wouldn't fold out and didn't want to tempt breaking it. Thankfully it was from amazon and the replacement along with a $30 razorclaw coming today
>>11772438Glad the replacement process wasn't too much of a pain in the ass. That's a great price for Razorclaw too. I keep thinking about him, but I've already got Tigerhawk and I can't justify spending money on a recolor with so much shit dropping right now.
>>11772426>I don't have original version of the Legacy Cybertron Hot Shot but apparently he has a solid Red Key that's the Velocitron oneIt's actually clear yellow plastic coated with a layer of clear red paint, you can see the weirdness in this photo
>>11772442>It's actually clear yellow plastic coated with a layer of clear red paintWhat the fuck Hasbro? lmao
>>11772444It’s because the rest of the clear plastic in the mold had to be yellow for his windows, spoiler, and weapon, so they just added it to that rather than make its own separate sprue
>>11772462*correction, his spoiler is not clear plastic, I don’t know why I thought that. My point still stands otherwise
>>11772444It's something that they have been doing for a while now, if there is a need for multiple translucent colors.
>>11772317where the fuck is my cassettes pack?
>>11772469In the distant future of 2027.
>>11772469That Eject must have been the template for the Siege Rumble tooling
>>11772418>>11772411>shitty oc was more important than character from popular showI got fired for less
>>11772317Just Cyclonus. Also decided to also get Kranix. Looking forward to SS86 Alicon as I didn’t get the the first time around.
>>11772496I'll never understand why they didn’t start with the known characters' designs and then work back to make the new Junkions.
>>11772508Retardation I would say. Also I hate how easy joints can pop off from those. I hope that new Lockdown won't be -izer.
Junkions were better than the fucking fossils and rocks, who wants to buy a rock over a car
>>11772527That's why they made the rocks into cars.
>>11772527I like the rock guys design-wise, but if they were going to give them the weaponizer gimmick they shouldn't have half-assed it
>>11772508Because they were the line's gimmick toys.
>>11772496I'd rather have the oc to be honest, every single new animated toy they've made is complete shitsometimes I wonder if they're even supposed to be for actual fans of animated or just larping zoomers who missed out on the original toyline and are too poor to buy on ebay
>>11772581Eh I thought Prowl and Ratchet were fine but I have no desire to collect Prime or Bee, and I'm one of those Animated was the best show people too.
>>11772581As someone who bought all the Animated show characters released back then, even the minor ones, I see no point in buying the new ones at all. They may be better articulated, but completely miss what made these designs special by stripping them of the cartoony stylization, and the originals feel so nice in hand. Makes me remember again how much more plastic each size class had back then.
>>11772593Removing the stylization was pretty stupid
>>11772597Some people really dislike it, but they can just buy any other transformer toy if that's the case. Let the Animated fans have toys that actually look like the characters and keep what made them special. Trying to standardize uniqueness is so dumb.
DON'T LEAVE ME, SOUNDWAVE!!!
>>11772593Bees head is goofy but otherwise these are about as accurate as one could really hope for, and besides ankles they wouldnt benefit that much from modern joints. Reissue them.
>>11772237Yeah mainly just the gimmicks, though I wouldn't be surprised if Galvatron was a halfway done concept they changed the veneer of to work with the more organic BW style. He's very brick-y in a way the others aren't. >>11772290Yeah, Lio was in part designed to be a whole different design from the Brave style lion chests, so given that and his body being closer to the BW style he was likely conceived as a BW figure. But I think things like the spinning lion mane and flipout weapons came from unused concepts. And it just comes from how both Hasbro and Takara and the toy industry in general used to be like. There used to be a role in toy companies that was just engineering gimmicks that could be applied to different toys before the shell was even made to put the gimmick around. Aaron Archer speaks fondly of a Kenner employee named Ham Woodhouse who's role was basically to make concepts like that, which would then be applied to figures. So, for example, a big claw mechanism or a disk launcher, those would be designed and then the toy designers would see if it would fit as part of a Batwing toy or a mantaray transformer. The older guys at Takara were hyped by Archer wanting to use the gimmicks in Armada through Cybertron, new guard did seem to tire of it in Takara by Classics, since they outright commented they came out so good because they had no set gimmicks to implement.
>>11772444Bri I had mines gun handle peg break off in hand with when I tried to put it in his hand just last week. Hadn't touched the thing in months before that happened. Don't like clear plastic and kind of fear the same thing is going to happen to my 86 Thundercracker down the line since the blasters are just painted clear plastic for some dumb reason
Clear plastic just shouldnt be used for hinges and shit
>>11772608>Reissue them.I'm not sure those deluxes fit in today's VOYAGER budget. Apply that to each subsequent size class.
Reissue? Nah, Takara exclusive retools of the same molds imported for $100 each.
>>11772411>>11772418I love junkions so every addition is amazing.Fuck nomie boomers who hate junkions.Fuck retarded zoomers who have no interest in junkions.Junkions are the best.
>>11772621I like G1 Junkions
>>11772621>Junkions are the best.Junkions are trash dude. Literally.
>>11772625Not a single Classics Junkion in the bunch
Classics and Cybertron were the best of that decade, what a time
>>11772296I seriously want to know which designer at Hasbro/Takara is obsessed with making Optimus Prime associated with lions>Action Master Optimus's concept art gives him a lion mask>Ginrai (PM OP) is rebuilt as Victory Leo>BW Optimus has several designs that transform into a Lion (unique mold, Cheetor retool, McDonald toy, and even Under-3)>Leobreaker is designed to work with Cybertron OptimusI get it’s because he’s the leader, but it’s just really funny how often it happens
>>11772675Well aktually...Leobreaker is a Liger in Japan.
>>11772675I believe there's a specific Takara designer who was pushing for that who was involved in Lio Convoy's development, not sure of the exact name but I remember hearing that he was pushing for a lion leader
>>11772604>As you command, Megatron...
>>11772701>Oh Primus, why is this thing so goddamn heavy?!
>>11772693he's one lion coded liger
>>11772723Yep, that's how it always was
>>11772593I keep asking why people want new CHUG versions of these guys. Basically anything after Armada is pointless. The new figures just don't have the budget to match what came before. You're getting, what? ankle tilts. Just buy the old figures on Ebay.
>>11772527The rocks fucking ruled and I will die on that hill. I’m still sad about Shard never getting a retool or at least a redeco. Junkions were also fantastic, but I’m very glad we got Axelgrease/Lockdown/Road Pig to break up their shared colour palette.>>11772539This is true though; their “weaponiser” potential sucked. Thankfully their general modularity made up for it (at least to me).>>11772593I collected Animated back at uni and still love those toys, but I love Prowl and Prime in their own right (Motormaster and Chromia were a great bonus to their existing too). Also we finally got a Wasp, which made me very happy.
>>11772725They could definitely improve on the Prime toys if they actually tried to do them in style, but they won't so lol. Most Cybertron stuff could be improved as well but the Optimus would need commander class.
>>11772724
>>11772732They COULD improve on all the figures but they won't because budgets aren't what they used to be.CHUGs make sense for the early figures because they were such primitive bricks that articulation and better proportions is a large step up. As we moved into lines from 2000 on, those figures already have anything a CHUG figure can offer. Is there any CHUG doing a Prime guy, and Animated guy, a Cybertron guy, that haven't been disappointing?
>>11772737Override from TF Cybertron
>>11772737They should just stick to G1/G2 updates, there's plenty left to do. I already have Prime Arcee, I don't need to buy an inferior one.
>>11772742Doesn't have her key gimmick
>time traveler moves a chair>the beam robo is chosen as the decepticon leader and written with megatrons personality, and the gun robo is just some obscure japan toy
>>11772750CHUG figure when?
>>11772747They weren't gonna do a spring gimmick but you can recreate it if you wish. Legacy Override is a big upgrade overall.
>>11772750I always love this era and the era between G2 and BW because there is so much developmental history that would have permanently changed Transformers both subtly and exponentially. One example is that Blitzwing and Astrotrain were originally planned to be Autobots
>>11772757The could've, at least, included the key, even if it didn't do anything but plug in.
The Eagle has landed! Not going to have a whole lot to say about the mold itself, given I've reviewed a bunch of different variants of the Kingdom Airazor mold over the years at this point, so I'll keep it brief. My Star Eagle came with a slight misassembly of her right wing - the tab that's supposed to plug into her back when making her wings "shrink" in robot mode was under the wing instead of behind it, keeping her from closing it. Fortunately, it was easy enough to pop the wing off and reattach it properly. Another thing to note is that her paint is a lot thicker in-hand than it looked in the promo pics and is a bit...tacky. Not tacky in a "gaudy" sense, but rather in a "this paint was applied so thickly that it hasn't quite dried all the way yet" sense - her shoulders and guns in particular still feel a bit sticky, which I've never seen in a toy right out of the box before, and I'm a little scared of how easy it feels like it'll scratch if I'm not careful with it. I do love the colors, though - the red is a nice, shiny, metallic color, and the dark blue looks fantastic (even if it doesn't match the lighter blue on her at all). I do wish there was more red on her in general, but I happen to have the exact same shade of metallic red on-hand, so I might consider adding a bit to her wings later.
>>11772769"Eagle" mode. As this is the original Kingdom Airazor version of the mold, her legs don't fold up as far as Filch's or either Rath Prime's. The bird head is still too small, but that's an issue with every iteration of the Airazor mold in general and not Star Eagle specifically. Again, she really needs more red on her, but that pearly-blue plastic used for her non-painted parts is quite lovely.
>>11772770Her with a bunch of her moldmates (Golden Disk Terrorsaur and red Rathalos Prime present but not pictured due to me not having enough room for them in the shot) - as much as I've complained about the Kingdom Airazor mold (and the Terrorsaur variant), I seem to have ended up with almost every version of the mold aside from Skywarp/Silverbolt and the Premium Finish versions of Terrorsaur and Airazor. Anyway, blue birb is cool - I'm totally going to headcanon her as future Blue Bolts, even if that form was supposed to use the Skywarp head.
>>11772757It fucks me up that this Nitro Convoy is STILL the only objective improvement over the original. Every single one of the other modern figures have some weird subjective or objective drawback, usually like weird proportions - which is so weird especially when Nitro Convoy's new figure has MORE accurate proportions to the show than the original figure.
>>11772799Override is pretty great. I'll be honest though I have Cybertron Hotshot and Starscream and I like them both quite a lot. Starscream especially, he's so damn expressive.
>>11772799I actually really like Starscream but he could've used more paint.
>>11772462>>11772464Makes sense actually. I keep forgetting they do stuff that way now>>11772615At least then you can pop it out from the hand underneath and get a nicer gun>>11772469>SS86 Rumble reissue never>New one won't color match SS86 FrenzyI hate this company honestly>>11772757One of the rare actually good new versions
They should've downscaled Metroplex (or Megalo if you prefer) to 19 inches and just included the minicon. He's already so large, forget being slightly larger and just finish the set. IMO thats the only big fuckup with the Cybertron remakes so far, everyone else is acceptable really.
>>11772803>>11772821I wish I enjoyed Starscream more, but I ended up selling him. I dunno man, where's his big exaggerated wings and nosecone penits? He's very expressive, but his base design got too toned down for me - he just doesn't have the glamour-factor of the original.
>>11772799>It fucks me up that this Nitro Convoy is STILL the only objective improvement over the original. Every single one of the other modern figures have some weird subjective or objective drawbackI'd argue that Legacy Nitro Convoy's vehicle mode proportions are messed up. The placement of the cockpit specially, it isn't supposed to have that much hood in front of it.
>>11772420Not a common problem, but almost all of them had incredibly loose arm joints.
>Replace beloved legends size class with Micromasters>Don't make any of the ones with actually interesting transformations>Don't complete a single team>Introduce the stupid half-vehicle micromasters to an already struggling price point>Don't even get that gimmick right>Don't introduce any playsets for them (the entire point of making them tiny in the first place) until the NEXT TOYLINE>Make them a size class too small to actually look good with micromasters.>Give them the least tooling budget of any iteration of their gimmick>Their partner micromasters were only released in a store-exclusive 10-pack from a year prior. And that's why we now get to jump through hoops to get minicons!
>>11772757Just don't show the alt mode.
>>11772612when you puit it that way, it's less infuriating
>>11772799Cybertron Starscream is nothing but improvement. That original toy was a dumpster.
>>11772769>My Star Eagle came with a slight misassembly of her right wing - the tab that's supposed to plug into her back when making her wings "shrink" in robot mode was under the wing instead of behind it, keeping her from closing it. Fortunately, it was easy enough to pop the wing off and reattach it properly.I haven't gotten a single version of this mold, including both terrorsaurs, that didn't have this issue. it's just how they put it in the packaging. it pops back into place with a little force.also yeah that paint looks REALLY sticky. huh.I too have gotten every version of molds I don't love, but always at a discount.. this will be my first fullpriced one since kingdom airazor and the limited terrorsaur
>>11772733>Go-Bot cartoon designs with shadingTruly the most cursed of all things.
>>11772732>Optimus would need commander classWhy do you retards keep pushing this. It's a simpler than average truckformer with a backpack.
>>11772874I feel like a lot of people are mixing him up with Energon Optimus. Either that or they just want him to be really big
>>11772874I dont think modern leader can pull this off properly + there's a lot of possible extras for him to fill out a Commander box. If they can do Transmetal II Megatron they could do Cybertron Megatron, but Prime is just beyond that.
>>11772874We've literally seen them try this Optimus as a Leader and it doesn't work.
>>11772889Yeah and I'm sure it being a retool of a character that looks nothing like him had absolutely nothing to do with that. You people are completed fucking morons.
>>11772890>Optimus Prime looks nothing like Optimus Prime
>>11772877He ought to be much bigger than some commanders we've already got
>>11772891Yes. Name reuse doesn't make them identical.
>>11772891What are you even saying, Galaxy Upgrade was retooled from Ultra Magnus not an Optimus. I still doubt leader is enough but not because of Siege.
>>11772835How did they miss the opportunity to sell that separately as a scout class?
>>11772941>Have a core class rock. Drill Bit? Uh...They should've tied in Leader 1 with the Megatron release too but they hate easy money combos
>>11772870This guy? What was wrong with him?
>>11772835>>11772956The missing minicon isn't even the most retarded thing the new Megalo did. It's that his digging wheel doesn't split open to be the axe. Literally two joints.
>>11772966>sowwy, not in the budget
>>11772965You're looking at all the articulation it has. Shit proportions on top of it, a garbage vehicle mode with exposed head, it's just terrible from top to bottom.
>>11772900Eh, that's a bit of a bad example since technically legacy starscream is oversized. Base Optimus is the same size as vector prime. Starscream should be way closer to hot shot than he is to vector prime. Galaxy force was weird in that I brought a lot of the voyager and ultra bots a lot closer in size to the deluxe bots. Some like Vector Prime kept their height.
>>11772968>a garbage vehicle mode with exposed headdoesn't the new one do the same thing?
>>11772965What the hell is this
>>11772426I hate these baby keys. I would have rather they not included them and just made slots that fit the originals like on override.
Reminder that they fit Override on half a voyager's tooling but still charged full voyager price for her. That entire subline deserved the clearance death it got.
>>11772983It got full tooling, it just only got 4 plastic molds for said tooling. Which thankfully worked out.
>>11772987>4 plastic molds for said toolingAka a deluxe's tooling budget. What she should've been sold as.
>>11772993Number of plastic molds used isnt what determines class, amount of plastic and overall parts used is. 86 Ratchet uses 4 plastic colors and that's all he needed.
>>11772981They could have been a little bigger but also genuinely do wish they had more effortIt sucks we really have like 2 Keys tops that are rightIf they stick to this and we DO get a Haslab Primus then they will FOREVER get dogged on if it includes an Omega Lock and 4 keys and they're NOT full proper painted and detailed
So got my new $30 razorclaw and replacement Alpha Trion today and looking at Razorclaw and I can't help but think it might make for a good remold for Polar Claw. Remove the tail feathers or do something else with them, maybe redo the wings as the bat buddy he came with and beef up the beast hind legs and a few other changes and the beast head reminds me more of a bear
>>11773043as a guy with no attachment to that era of the franchise, the cyber keys always seemed laughably huge to me, very toyish.this >>11772426 does look too small, though. now it's the other kind of toyish, when there's a pointlessly tiny accessory like the teensy-tinesy matrix included with RotB Primal that doesn't even go anywhere or look right being held.I feel like a good rule of thumb is 'at least the size of a quarter, but no bigger than a nilla wafer'
>>11773063I hate how right you are.I also hate that I got a discounted one too but it was a guy reselling a contest prize, and I looked up the contest and the guy was like "pretty sure all the parts are in there" and it turns out his forearm gun was missing.
>>11772420>Did the generations selects cyclonus have any yellowing issues of the original releaseAll the cyclonus, soundwave and even some other figures have them. It's hasbro being cheap fucks and using a shit factory in Vietnam. They know the issue but won't do anything about it.Their more than happy to fuck customers over charging 100+ for a voyager now.If they want people to drop this amount of money then fix the fucking problems! No one wants a soundwave were the grey turns brown after a few months. Same with cyclonus and others. Yet you'll get idiots paying for Haslab trash
>>11773063someone needs to go back in time and stop hasbro from releasing CW Silverbolt
>>11772978Don't make fun of Starscream's shouldussy.
>>11773066Half size of the original Cybertron Keys would be perfect it feels
>>11772976>doesn't the new one do the same thing?Nope. His head is completely concealed - it rotates all the way around and has the rear of the jet close over it. The underside of the head has a sculpted box thing that ends up there instead that kinda-sorta mimics it at a glance to keep the appearance similar to the original without it looking as stupid.
>>11772870>>11772968I think he looks awesome, and having less articulation doesn't change that. New figure has such spindly limbs that he looks like a stick figure, so idc how much more poseable he is. He doesn't look as chunky, he looks like a twink cosplaying as Starscream. Also imagine looking at that altmode and thinking it isn't the coolest thing ever. Lmaoing @ ur lyfe
>>11773105that is some prime cake-having-and-eating-too.

>>11773067Have a iffy AI job as proof of concept
I got 86 megatron the other and hes pretty decent but my god do his hands suck, they feel so stick to pose and move around and its hard to make a fist with them. Those newbee guys need to sell the hands they made for the killing arm kit, because they feel ten times better than what hasbro is giving optiums and megatron.
>>11773184Man I butchered this sentence, I really ought to proofread my shit

>>11773184>Hands are tighter than Optimus's>Yet the inner Forearm design means they pop out constantly if you put too much push against them at any angle nearlyI think NewBee would have to make entire Forearms and hands for them like their SS86 Optimus Kit and it's Megatron armThis reminds me I was gonna hunt for a Social for them so I could see if there's any demand for a Menasor/Superion HandsCause fuck they need them
>>11773227it's amazing how this basically does the transformation as wrong as it can.
>meanwhile mp size
>>11773283Yeah, SS86 Shockwave needed a new mold.
It's crazy how Hasbro handled Powermaster Prime/Ginrai 10 years ago.>start line with Powermaster Optimus Prime (retooled from prior line's Ultra Magnus)>Takara further retools figure as God Ginrai>Takara releases Godbomber figure next year>Hasbro releases "Magnus Prime", the God Ginrai retool>absolutely no Hasbro release of Godbomer at all, not as a convention exclusive or later line's figure, nothing
>>11773398eh, doesn't seem that crazy
>>11773398The Godbomber mold was probably suppose to be released in the other two TR boxsets that were cancelled.
>>11773398I'm not going to lie, I don't love Powermaster/Ginrai, and God Ginrai does absolutely nothing for me.
>>11773398I’ve always found it weird how this and the Gen Selects Star Convoy basically swapped gimmicks from their original toys

>>11773605Gen X is the generation between Boomers and Millennials. Millennials are Gen Y in the letter system

Also there were video tape releases that you could get from rental shops mostly of the first season.Yeah i had some of that but it was "one of those older cartoons" for me. And after 3d in Reboot and Beast Wars blew my mind the G1 was just "old folks cartoons from the 80s" when i was in that annoying kid/teenager age.I think /v/ is during that age right now and they calling old games "unc-slop" lmao(the photo is not mine)

>>11773614As a Zoomer (2001), it’s funny reading this as my experience was basically the exact opposite. I mostly grew up on Animated and the Bayverse, but I also managed to watch G1 through tapes my grandmother had(I assume they were FHE tapes from the 80s that my uncle got, rather than the later Kid Rhino ones) so to me Beast Wars was the weird series, with its primitive CGI and lacking core characters like Bumblebee, Ratchet, or Jazz. Showing how scattered my introduction to the series was, my first toys were Universe (2003) Spychanger Hoist, Legends of Cybertron Optimus Prime, and McDonald’s Manta Ray (I always thought the toy was a Batman tie-in instead) because my grandparents always shopped at discount stores like Goodwill and Dollar General

You see people asking for Ruination from the new Bruticus mold, but the mold choice doesn't make any sense. >>11773752The push for toon accuracy is a major symptom of what's killing the franchise. The toys weren't made to replicate the cartoon, the cartoons were made to advertise cool toys. Turning around to make toys designed to replicate 40 year old cartoons made in chinese sweatshops turns the brand into boomerslop and cuts off any ability to grow new audiences.

>>11774006I thought about making it $200 but ¤150 felt like the difficult choice sweet spot
>>11773766>and promptly bounced off it because it wasn't as good as the G1 episodes I had watched.I would LOVE to know what G1 episodes you saw that you thought were somehow better than even the worst Beast Wars episodes. G1 was a glorified commercial where nothing was allowed to change too drastically and everything reset at the end of every episode - there was no real plot beyond "Megatron comes up with a convoluted Saturday-morning cartoon villain scheme, and the hero of the day - who we never saw before until this episode but everyone acts like he was there the whole time - stops him". Beast Wars had a clear plot, things that happened during the episodes tended to have consequences in future episodes (especially anything Vok related), characters were frequently permakilled on both sides, characters were frequently changing allegiances, and you got up actually know the individual characters because the cast was kept small and everyone got clear character arcs over the course of each season. I can't imagine what kind of drone would have preferred the former over the latter - Beast Wars may not have been a masterpiece, but it was a coherent story with far better written characters and actual stakes; the bulk of what made G1 good came from the comics, not it's poor excuse for a cartoon by comparison.
>>11773741I hate the way they retooled Heatwave out of the damn Bulkhead mold, but I really wouldn't mind if they did this and made it work. I love both characters too, so I'd probably get both if they ever got around to this. But yeah. Here's hoping they do a better Heatwave sooner than later.
>>11774008wait wait I thought of some more. this is just MY wish list, but I want someone to have them>transmetal 2 Spittor and/or Slapper>Ikard and his Tako Tank>any of the other japanese recolors of GOOD beast wars guys, like they had that green spittor and.. uhhh what was that other one...
>>11774025oh right, red Spittor.
>>11774021NTA but dang you sound biased and joyless.Given anon was a kid and only had a handful of individual episodes to judge by, then I think it's pretty logical he might have preferred the G1 show - it was very good at funny episodic stories. Hell, it probably works best as a compliment to Marvel G1, as the show does what the comic really failed at: giving plenty of standalone "character spotlight" episodes for everybody. The comic only focused on a select core cast really, but the cartoon really showed off EVERYBODY's personalities in fun ways. It's corny yeah, but it's got an inarguable charm.By comparison, BW is a great show, but it's a great Serialized show. It works best when you're watching it all, not a couple random episodes that you stumbled upon, like anon probably did. If you're approaching it the same way, then the avg Beast Wars episode is less colorful, takes place in a near-barren wasteland, has a smaller cast, and one might've personally preferred cheap 2D to expensive-yet-early 3D. Beast Wars is also no stranger to being incredibly corny in character personalities, but it's sometimes incongruous with the show also trying to take its stakes more seriously (the silly Blackarachnia/Silverbolt and S3 Cheetor angsts were almost too much for me lol).Ultimately I love both shows and the comic. But, it really should be no surprise if someone prefers something you don't.

Briefly dipped out of TF for like a year during Cybertron, albeit not because of a dislike of the direction of it (I kicked myself when I realized what I missed) but because I became obsessed with Lego Exo-Force during that year. Then the movie dragged me back in and I started watching old TF cartoons on the Hasbro website, notably Beast Wars. So I have quite eclectic nostalgia in that way. It's funny, I haven't watched any of RID/Car Robots despite the (awesome) toys getting me into Transformers as a kid. I should change that, it looks unremarkable but fun.

>>11774352>I know they are supposed to be minibots but this small and the price?>They really need to bring back legend/core class or have a in-between core/deluxe class. This was Hasbro's entire motive from the moment they started disconnecting size from price. Figures like Earthrise Cliffjumper or SS Hot Rod at least operated on the pretense that they were small for their class, but used the extra budget to include more accessories or improve engineering. Now even that compromise has gone out the window.Once the fandom was comfortable with the idea of paying voyager prices for a deluxe sized figure, this was always the endgame: getting you to pay more money for less plastic so they can promise their shareholders bigger dividends than last year, FOREVER. Core class was always the range with the least potential for profit margins, and I can't imagine them bringing it back now that they can just get you to pay $25-30 for a little guy instead of $10. Why? Because fuck you, that's why.If you guys genuinely want core class back, the only way is to stop buying these "B-class size but at A-class price point" bots. Even then, there's no guarantee. >>11774480>>11774482I believe it is the forced 5mm peg each of the Micromasters had that made their transformations repetitive and in some cases off like most of the vehicle Micromasters who should have the front hood of the car become their chest but instead it goes on the back because of the 5mm peg. I don't mind the Micromasters becoming weapons for the big bots because like Mini-Cons they make for very good power boosters and weaponizers for the big bots, but Hasbro should've designed them like the Mini-Cons and just leave them with a 5mm hole for the most part and put 5mm pegs on the big bots so that they can still combine and be used as weapons but also not have a plastic piece forcibly rework their transformation scheme and make them more generic as a result.
