Separately I was also thinking of having some scenes that showcase the 'Army of Goths' and the arrival of the Sun-Elves/Desert Orcs as the cavalry to show up. I want to sort of imply that Jayden's lost control of the narrative, and things are developing without her intention, both for good and ill. Part of this I was thinking was revealing the Sun Empress put some sort of magic 'tracker' tattoo on Beck. I also need a good excuse to give him a final third form.

Also as part of his 'prophesized defeat of the Void Father' would include having to turn the Mother Goddess into a sword that is the weapon he needs to do so. Which would be something she knows and is willing to do, but effectively removes her from the story. Meanwhile though- Beck is very much not wanting to play along, and actively doesn't want to fight his father.

Then probably the chapter after that I was thinking the Void Father and the minions (plus Lucy) go to a local tavern for the 'End of Existence' party where it's showcased that the minions were really stupid for trying to take advantage of his power as they have no way to control him. But also his hearts not really in it for the party without Beck there, though he refuses to show off any emotional weakness.

As for other characters, I was thinking Ashflame is out of the picture until the very end with a little foreshadowing. I was thinking Jayden is really injured from the fall and can't contribute much, but I want a good excuse for her to use her 'Dungeon Master' form, but I can't think of a good way to do so.

So I have a lot of scenes, but I need to juggle them properly and that's where I need help.

For those of you who have larger persistent stories and settings: how do you keep track of everything? I'm trying to make a setting for a dumb short story now and remembering all the details of the world and characters is already hard. I just have a gigantic word document full of notes and character profiles, but it might as well not exist considering how hard it is to scroll through.

I honestly find it pretty easy to remember the ins and outs of a setting I came up with myself. It helps that every detail I bother with ties into the plot in some way. If you have a gigantic set of notes for a short story, that suggests to me that maybe you're going way overboard with things that will never come into play.
Is your world doc structured, or is it just a jumble of notes? When you have a lot of info, you need to arrange it for ease of access. You could just split it up into multiple Word docs based on topic, but there are also ways to create interlinked entries. One regular in the /scaly/ general uses some sort of Wiki software, but you can also use OneNote or equivalent in a similar way.
