Weird Headcannon:The Affini don't believe in birthdays.Their cycle of blooming, decaying, and reblooming means they age in a fundamentally different way than we do. And while blooms probably have some fanfare surrounding them within Affini culture they're also a phenomenon unique to the Affini. By comparison using the number of concurrent orbits of the specific planet you're standing on relative to its specific star to tell time and/or age is nonsensical, asinine, and doesn't scale at all to the needs of an intergalactic empire.(I actually have a headcannon that they have a universal, scaling measurement of time that they use linearly ie: 'It's been [10] [hours] since it was last [noon], therefore it's [noon] again irrespective of if it's light or dark out'"because it's also not necessarily true that they'd be a diurnal species like us, so they may not even conceptualize day and night the same way we do just like how we don't factor in the weather into our conceptualization of time.)I also don't think they'd really understand Christmas either, because all Christmas is, is a corporatized<-secularized<-christianized<-winter solstice. You ask them how old they are they'll give you some nonsense answer like "0th bloom" because they fundamentally don't understand what that question means.An argument could be made that if the Affini have observed enough cultures that celebrate some form of winter solstice they may understand it as a very universalised holiday and Christmas just becomes adopted as the local flavor of it by the Affini of earth. So the Affini will still celebrate it for the enjoyment of themselves and their florets even if their florets themselves long ago lost touch with why they're doing any of it or what any of it even meant.
